Reviews (page 15 of 15)

I’d have gone with Paranoid but this has some interesting stuff.

not really my thing

Love the cover. Not a fan of the music.

Good but not my style

Meh. I do like early ‘Sabs’, and this was okay, but I feel like it is not as focussed as some of their earlier albums. I guess musically they were branching out, but it's the heavy metal thunder that I love about this band andd their early albums.

You can tell by the blatant lyrics that drugs and hedonism heavily influenced the proceedings, which is not always a good thing. There's a bit of a lack of craft just riffs, that quickly get tiresome. There is a change of pace on the piano led ballad 'Changes' (with some interesting mellotron) but even that's nothing special.

Sabbath had collapsed under the weight of their own legend by the time they released this. And their enormous drug and alcohol intake probably didn't help much either

i'm not a rock or heavy metal fan so this is not something i would ever listen to. i get that there's a lot of people that would probably call this the best album ever but it's just not for me. not horrible, but something i would ever return to. favourite track: changes

Not my cup of tea, didn’t get on with it at all

Meh... Ég þurfti ekki að hlusta á þessa plötu. Lögin eru einföld og endurtekningasöm, og mest spilaða lagið, Changes, vekur beinlínis upp kjánahroll. Rödd Ozzy er bæði léleg og leiðinleg. En jæja, sumt rennur þokkalega í gegn þrátt fyrir allt. Ekki botninn, en ég mun ekki hlusta aftur.

ittl be lucky to beat a 1

Where is tony Blair when we need him?

i don't think i ever knew how maudlin changes is. it feels like it goes on forever. its not the kind of darkness i was expecting form the prince of darkness but it is infinitely more soul crushing and scary than any of the heavier stuff. the album on the whole is fairly uninteresting.

ME ha parecido monótono y aburrido. En 1972 tuvo que ser la caña, pero hoy en día no me interesa. Aunque oírlo una vez tampoco te hará ningún mal.

I really enjoyed the Black Sabbath album "Paranoid." I was hoping to recapture some of that love in this one. While there are moments I appreciate, this just wasn't quite the same. Most of the moments I did appreciate were not really the heavy metal base of the album (those parts all kind of melted together in my mind): the mellow sound of the piano-backed "Changes," the hashish-inspired "FX" sounding very hashish-inspired, the surprise conga line that appeared in the middle of "Supernaut," and "Laguna Sunrise" coming out of nowhere with its guitar and orchestra clearly evoking a sunrise. Also of note is "Snowblind," the jaw-dropping ode to cocaine that really didn't age well with its lyrics, "Don't you think I know what I'm doing? Don't tell me that it's doing me wrong. You're the one that's really the loser." We all know how that turned out. Of the heavy metal proper, I thought that "Under the Sun/Every Day Comes and Goes" was the closest I felt to pumping my fist, with its classic "I wanna live my life" theme.

demasiada distorsión para mi

not my vibe really

Yes, there's tons of nostalgia in there, but then again re-listening reminded me why I haven't been listening this whole time

Just fine but not memorable enough for this list.

I don't understand why we need this band when we have led zeppelin tbh.

2/5 nothing much, it's a pity.

meh - I expected so much more from them. Especially as they had come out with a banger album a few years before.

Not a fan of Black Sabbath

Not for me, bar one track

hindi talaga siya for me

The way my head fell into my hands when this album came up. <SIGH> This after yesterday's Wu-Tang Clan which I also didn't like. I don't have much to say about this album. I know about Ozzy Osborne from his reality TV show but never was interested in his music. His singing voice sounds whiny which drives me up the wall. <sigh> Whatever.

Je comprends son impact sur le genre mais c’est non

Laguna Sunrise was a welcome surprise on this album, not a fan of the rest of it

Nicht so mein Fall. Zu hektisch!

Ponderous

Not my style but can see how some might like it

Terrible

Not very good

Really bad

As I kid I bought the paranoid single. Brilliant. The B side, the Wizard, was even better. So where did this lump of plodding balance crap come from?

Not a fan, but rest in peace Ozzy

Its loud and that's all there is to it. There is an undue reverance to this bobbins. Changes is a good song but this like all the others of this ilk are instantly forgettable unless you like metal

Not for me

1. confuzion - 1 2. dream - 1.5 3. changez - 2 4. fz - 0 5. zupenaut - 1.5 6. blind - 1.5 7. cornucopia - 1.5 8. laguna - 1 9. dance - 1 10. zun - 1.5

Not for me

Kill yourself

Not my type of music. 1 Star.

Remember Ozzy and Kelly releasing their version of Changes in 2003 and thinking it was one of the worst things I'd ever heard (two people who can't really sing taking on a big ballad?). Turns out the original is just as unlistenable. Not for me. Cool that he managed a final show though. Even if a sex offender was on the lineup.

Lovely to touch giving the timings, but not for me. RIP Ozzy.

Jedinica iz principa. // Bila bi možda dvica ali Changes je najgora pjesma ikad, kako mogu ubiti pjesmu jer doslovno želim da to uradim.

I felt the maelstrom of despair in the tip of my veiny dih

Meh. Half the songs, were before my time.

Hard no. 1

19/1001 Well, if nothing else, I prefer this to Led Zeppelin - it just seems a bit more original to me, if nothing else. Changes stands out like a sore thumb as a piano-led ballad, but kudos to them for attempting to branch out. Acoustic instrumental, Laguna Sunrise also offers a change of pace. Elsewhere though, Ozzy bellows like a demented thing, while Iommi, Butler and Ward create a low, slow metal groove. It's kind of hypnotic, but then they were off their faces most of the time. Sabbath are almost entering into self-parody at this stage in their careers, every riff sounding like an interpolation of something they had already done to better effect on the previous three albums. I can't say I hate it - I gave it a couple of listens, and I'd probably already heard a couple of tracks before, while it is not an album I already owned - but it just kind of drifted by me to be honest.

Not a huge fan of metal

Way past all that angst of a 13 year old. Boring sluge of a recording fueled on Coke and it shows. Keep moving along, folks—nothing new here.

I could have easily died without hearing this one

Not my cup of tea

Black Sabbath just does not to anything for me. It’s not even funny like the later metal bands.

Not my thing

Nope. Utterly boring as is most hard rock for me, Find even bloody Katie Mehlua more interesting.

Not for me.

UGH barbed wire in my ears.

Not my cup of tea

The songs on the album were not available when I tapped on them.

Gave up after two songs, sorry

Not for me-hair band sound One song or two but I’d be sick of it after that

Bit old for my liking I think.

Never been able to get into metal, likely because the hardcore image that I have in my head is betrayed by all the repetitious, indistinguishable crunchy guitar riffs and tepid vocals. This album is no exception

OK, but not super fun

Mehhhj

Why volume 4? The first three albums are infinitely better. This album is from the decline, including crowd pleasers like "obligitory ballad because we're trying to expand our sound" and "that one song that people kinda recognize".

I guess metal music just isn't for me because I didn't like it very much.

According to a rolling stone article it's a drug fuelled masterpiece from 1972. To me it's a slow version of heavy metal, which I basically don't listen to, except for a bit of Motorhead, and a bit of ACDC (its energising stuff now)kind of ironically for fun.. . gentle even... rock opera? anyway, i saw them live in Sydney 15 years ago and it was history, education, It is funny how this music was so rebellious and harsh and scary to people in the 1970s, compared to how normal and tame it sounds now. they clearly were very influential.. SUMMARY IT belongs ON THE LIST? probaly. imprtant. 3 ish...? Do I love it? no. 1-2

I really wanted to give this an objective listen and try and understand a little more about the music. But it's just not for me. I'm never going to like any metal music. I stopped after the first track and played some Smokey Robinson instead.

Got fed up really quick

Gloriously heavy and inventive in its way, but they're still utter clods. As ever, a drag.

Too many albums by the same artist coming up now

A bit lacklustre for me. I don't think it's aged very well
