Led Zeppelin
Led ZeppelinOne of the greatest Debut records ever
One of the greatest Debut records ever
Never listened to Louis before but know many of these songs. Super fun record in the spirit of a Louis Jordan record with some great singing and playing.
Couldn't understand a word of it but it's funky as hell
A definitive classic
A generational talent. That being said his music just doesn't appeal to me that much 🤷♂️
A good listen. Worth it just for the "Newt Gingrich sucks dick" lyric
A beautiful,deep, dark place
Not really my jam
Very solid record. I was prepared to be "meh" but I enjoyed. Even heard some hints of jangle pop in there
I'm sure it's good but just don't love metal
Great listen. Really grew on me as it went along
Incredibly skilled musicians with fervent fans. That being said I have never cared much for their music. Most of the tunes sound remarkably similar to me. I did like the instrumental track and Limelight
Well crafted pop music. Just not my thing
A classic. Saw them in a ballroom with about 500 people circa 1986
A talented artist who left us way to soon. Enjoyed the listen
Their first album was ok after that meh...
I tried. Not my thing
Enjoyed it will listen again!
An all time classic
Talented band with dedicated fans just not my thing. I liked the instrumental and Limelight though
It was ok not especially musical. Enjoyed it more as it went on
An all timer. Every track is a classic and most still resonate today.
Fantastic power pop record!
A nice pop record. Forgot some of those tunes were on there
Fun record!
I have heard of Julian Cope but never this band. Enjoyed the listen, definitely an early 80's vibe
I didn't find it particularly engaging but I did love "I stole your car"
Not my go to genre but still a good record
Didn't understand a word but the dude is Funky!
It's a fine record I just have never "got" Joni
Musicians are talented and it's ok just not my cup of tea
Of course I've heard the song Aqualung before but not the album. I didn't expect a lot out of this but it wasn't what I expected and I enjoyed it
Not even close to EC's best record but still very good.
I know a guy who thinks Muse is the best band going. It was a decent record
Underrated 80's record
Pretty good
Not my genre but a pretty good record with a handful of really stand out tunes
Meh
A classic that was ahead of it's time. The dynamics changes were a big influence on Nirvana. Here Comes my Man is one of my favorites
Zappa with a guest appearance by Captain Beefheart, just as weird as you might imagine. The band is good and Zappa is an extraordinary guitar player
Made it through the first song
Pretty good Elton John record but not his best. Levon is my favorite EJ song
I don't listen to early Chicago much mostly based on the schmaltz they released late in their career but this is good stuff. Some good songs, some GREAT horns (take that Courtney Love) and weird blues jams out of nowhere
Not a bad record just not my thing
Good record. BOTW, Cecelia and the Boxer are some of the better songs ever recorded. The rest of the album is good with varying musical styles
I didn't enjoy it. I listened to the first several songs then checked out
It was good, some would say (un)Common(ly) good
The instrumentation was ok the vocals weren't great.
A fantastic record. Every track is a classic rock staple.
I didn't get through both discs but it was pretty good
Elvis prototypical angry young man record, he practically spits some of these songs. He was considered "punk" by some when he came on the scene that was based more on the attitude than the music. Top 3 EC record for me
When they were Fab. Not my go to Beatles record but it's really good. Lot's of great harmonies and George guitar work
Nice mellow vibe
Nice record
Nirvanas response to the more polished sound of Nevermind
Cisco Kid is a great tune. The rest of it was not notable but not terrible
Bob plugged in and music was forever changed
I like Rooster but the rest is pretty repetitive
Fantastic record. Stevie Wonder is a man of immense talents.
Not my thing
I had not listened to this one before. Good record
Never been a fan but it wasn't terrible
I've always been a little ambivalent about the Smith's but I followed along with the lyrics on this one and I enjoyed much more. I am still a devout carnivore
Pretty standard Brit Rock. Not terrible
Great record! Listened to this one 100's of times in college. Some of the best punk bass playing ever!
One of the greatest Debut records ever
Incredibly dysfunctional as individuals incredibly harmonius as a group. Nice record probably 3.5 stars
Vintage Hendrix. Great stuff
Gonna be honest I liked this a lot more than I anticipated. She reminds me of Liz Phair who I like
Didn't listen real close but seemed unremarkable
Strangely enough I have never listened to this record. Not what I expected but not bad
Good stuff. Length is a little excessive but a wonderful record
A classic. Interesting to hear Cash interact with his audience
The only full album released with the Crickets in Holly's lifetime. The stuff legends are made of. A couple of the songs leaned a little too close to Do Wop otherwise I would have given it 5 stars
Pretty standard reggae beautifully done
Listened to the 1st 3 songs then moved on to the Clash. Not my thing
Great record! The first song keeps it from being a 5 for me. Probably should be 4.5 stars
It didn't take long for me to decide I didn't like this
Good record. The rawness of the lyrics made it a bit disconcerting for me but some wonderful tunes on it. Probably 4.5
It wasn't bad
One of the all time great debuts. Alison alone is worth the price of admission
I only had time to listen to the first few songs. It was ok
Never been a Pearl Jam hater but don't really seek them out either. This is a good record though
Generally enjoy Genesis, generally don't enjoy concept albums. This one didn't do much for me
The Heads debut. Doesn't have the "hits" other than Psycho Killer but still a good record
Some of the greatest harmonies ever put on record
The big band sounds of Brother Ray! The guy can play anything. Outstanding
Intergalactic funk plus MACEO. Fun record
Not my thing
Unremarkable. This is the 2nd Deep Purple record on this list I'm not sure their catalog merits the inclusion of 2 records
I don't usually enjoy records if I don't understand the lyrics but this is a beautiful record
I didn't have high expectations for this one but it was engaging enough that I listened to the whole record. Not terrible
Odd. A couple of ok songs otherwise just a lot of noise
Not sure what all the hubub is about
I general I like Radiohead. This one didn't do much for me. Very atmospheric
Unplugged to say the least. Great mix of covers and originals. Contains the best version of Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World"
Music of a time and place. Very well done but not my thing
It's interesting I remember listening to this record a few times when it came out and not being enamored with it (other than Come On Eileen) but it's a fun well made record
Not the Tom Waits catalog selection I would have went with. Tom is an acquired taste but still some very good songs here
I like it. I've never listened before but I'll probably come back
This was good I'll probably listen again. You can hear the origins of the New Orleans sound
Good stuff although an hour and 12 minutes of Eminem is a lot
She's obviously a very talented vocalist. For whatever reason I just wasn't feeling it today
Not sure how I would describe the music. It wasn't great but it wasn't terrible
A classic. 6 songs over 2 records. The genesis of jam band records?
Kind of like 80's Hair Metal meets the Ramones and not in a good way. Lost interest after a few songs
I remember when this came out there was a lot of hubub about it amongst the Americana crowd. I had never listened to it. It was just ok
Not a big fan of Jay as a person but this isn't a bad record. Fairly melodic for a rap record
My all time favorite record
I was taken aback when Fast Car came out by how unique and good that song was but never listened to the album. This is a good record. Has a social conscience without being preachy
It's probably good if you are into that kind of thing
An overreach by the Mac at the height of their massive popularity. Maybe their 3rd or 4th best album. Still some good work here
Sometimes the music transcends the language barrier. Good stuff
Ground zero for Americana. I forget this is a debut album. Wonderful
Interesting catalog choice. Bowie can be a little quirky but this is a nice record
Nick Drake is a bit of an acquired taste but I've been listening to his work for some time. Some good songs here and guitar playing that verges on acoustic blues at times. Very nice record.
I did not enjoy
The last Doors record as far as I'm concerned. Morrison's voice is reduced to a growl for a lot of this record. Lots of great songs on here (the title track is my favorite Doors song) and some mehh songs. Still a great record
Not a bad record. Not much differentiation between songs but they have a nice sound
Aretha's first record on Atlantic and it changed the trajectory of her career. Great record! Probably my favorite female singer
Been a fan of this record for a long time
One classic after another, many of these songs were overplayed on AOR radio when I was younger but still great tunes. Kind of forget that this was a debut record and it also essentially started the southern rock genre
I've met Mr Loaf but have never been enamored with his records. I wasn't excited for this one but it wasn't bad. It's music of a time and place that can take you back to that place which is one of the important things I ask music to do. I was going to go 2.5 but I'll give it a three
Better than I anticipated. I would give it 2.5 stars
I've listened to X/O but never this one. He was a talented and troubled young man. A pop sheen over depressing lyrics. A good record
Not terrible. Some of the lyrics are interesting but the whole thing is pretty monochromatic
Not the kind of music I seek out it's a little muddy for me (I know it's grunge). But it's really well done Chris Cornell's vocals are perfect for this kind of music and he's really good. Enjoyed it
A little bit of that goes a long way.
I like Paul Simon but I don't love him. This is a nice album though
Well done pop music but they have never really appealed to me
Pretty good as far as rap records go. I listened to the whole thing
This was great. If I didn't know better I would have thought I was at a keg party circa 1982. Really fun listen
One of my first records was ZZ Tops 1977 greatest hits album. Funky, greasy blues rock. Not monumental but good stuff. This record is blues based pop that feels like it was run through a 1980's computer. A few catchy tunes and MTV made this record huge but I don't find it appealing even as a period piece
Been listening to this one for years. Great record!
I know people who's musical opinion i respect that consider this not only the best prog rock record but also one of the all time best records in general. That being the case I learned here that prog rock definitely doesn't do much for me.
Turns out I like excessively long jam band freakouts better than I like excessively long prog rock tunes. Not bad if you're into that sort of thing.
Of the multitude of Paul Simon selections I probably liked this one best
This is one of the records that set me on the Americana path. It checks all the boxes, the songs, the singing, musicians, the attention to detail in the production is incredible. Easily in my top 100 records. Also includes maybe the greatest song ever about female masturbation
All the Doors haters can pound sand this is a great record
Classic! Every song is a gem. Lots of good memories chilling with friends listening to this record in college
FUNKY!! Enjoyed
I was slow to come around to this one just like critics and fans when it was originally released. It was a revelation at the time it was released. Good record
The first grunge band? Noisy, grungey and still slightly melodic. I liked
Regarded as one of the all time best live albums by many. You can't argue with the Hardest Working Man in Showbusiness!!
Dylan's transition from folk. Side 1 is stream of consciousness Bob blowing his harp and spitting lines with a ramshackle jalopy of a band chugging along behind him. Side 2 more traditional acoustic folk songs. Subterranean Homesick Blues and Mr Tambourine Man are worth the price of admission
