One of the best low-fi bands and one of their best albums, Malkmus is a genius with the guitar. Range Life, Cut Your Hair & Gold Soundz all superb tracks

Prefer the earlier albums when they weren’t so po-faced and pretentious

Great stuff, never listened before and thought it was excellent, Alison a stand out track but would listen again without hesitation

Enjoyed this more than My Aim Is True, maybe because of the addition of the Attractions which gives the sound more power, Pump It Up the best track

Despite the band all being entitled art school types with rich parents this still sounded amazingly fresh when it was released. I saw them perform the album in order in Sheffield just after it was released and they were fantastic. A classic album

There are times when bands jam with each other which is fine, however there’s no need to record and release their dicking about to inflict on innocent passer-bys
