Jamie's rhythms and beautiful sounds, Romy's and Sim's gorgious voices are once again an immense joy to hear.
Should be removed from the list
Great album, except for the singer’s voice
My favourite quirky album
1-Star Albums (31)
All Ratings
Très bien et geignard
Seems ok
Really pleasant listening. A typical album of its time. And a great voice.
Première partie d’album connue par coeur. Fin d’album moins connue. Et pourtant j’ai entendu Joan of Arc très souvent.
Old rap is too rough on the edge
Some parts sound flat but others are full of energy. The communion with the public Is palpable.
I don’t think that I heard this album before. It seems very long, with some very heavy pieces (rapping on hard is rarely my thing) and some jazzy (mostly) instrumentals. Probably not my thing.
I should listen to it more, to understand the hype.
I prefer TT here, during their poppy era, more than during their more feted later albums, which I find flat and overproduced.
Super heavy stuff. Some moments of brilliance but too long and heavy for me. I’ll keep on listening about once a year.
Inconsistant, but a few crazy tracks make it a special album.
Seems in line with Are you experienced and electric ladyland. Quality, but I still don’t get the fuss, after 30 years.
I didn’t pay much attention. I will come back to it at sont point.
Very good album. Too long, same as many albums of that time. Many very memorable songs. Diverse in styles.
Not my favourite genre yet, but I’m not completely giving up
An ok album, nothing more
Superb album. Too heavy to listen too often, but brilliant nonetheless
Probably enjoyable after a few listens. Will that ever happen thought?
Starts very well but the end is dull prog/ambient/blues
Possibly a good album but a bit too raw. And I know several albums of that time.
Amazing cover, great intro. Then the rest of the album is good, typical Sabbath minus the Celtic bores.
I really didn’t know this album and listened to it 3 times today. It left no impression at all. But at least it’s a start and hopefully next time I’ll start enjoying. Texture and sound are good.
Great album. Band commercially super successful but not enough critical appreciation.
Not a very good album in a way. WLWH is poor, Sister Ray not as good as the JD cover, etc But a great artistic statement.
Dated.
Whine whine
Really not exciting.
Very good guitar album, from start to finish.
Still sounds exactly like what it is: a Lizzy Mercier des loud rip-off
Great album of its time
Ok album
Still only 1 song wonder, no?
Quite bland, considering his Jam output.
Not that bad
Fun
Not a Fall period that I like
Sounds quite good actually
Big ups , rest still sounds average
Some hits and misses, but I must come back
Great album, except for the singer’s voice
A good surprise.
Quite mild, which always surprises me.
Bof
2 great songs at the start then a pleasant album of its time
Great
Too long. A few great sings
I don’t really need another Beach Boys album from the sixties. It sounds like pet sounds.
Some good songs. Not convinced it’s a great album.
Still gets better energy listen
Some great live performances
Worth more listens

I’m still not impressed. One great song only.
Actually 1/2 excellent

Amazing
A bit too long.
I should go back
1/2 known by heart
Was exciting
String but annoying voice
Strong
Great pleasure
Might actually be ok,but very similar to Clapton and more
Much much better than I expected
Strong
Modern classic
Very good but same as the one I know
I am still not convinced
Excellent
Classic newman
Excellent.
Good but not as good as Prefuse 73
Very strong
Sounds really interesting
Cool, sexy. Too long.
A bit overrated and inconsistent but somehow still great
Boring
What a second album. !
Need to come back
After all these years, I’ve never got it. There are hundreds of albums from the seventies which I like more.
Winge whine
Horrible!
Excellent
Too much ambiant stuff to be perfect
Sounds great
Not unpleasant but dull and long
Very good
Very good. A bit too long and some songs sound similar.
Really enjoyable
Aged
I should come back
Not my favourite cure album but still almost perfect
Amazing
Too winge and not all the songs are great.
Excellent. Ages very well.
Super bland, after many listens.
Punchy
A tad overrated but many great moments
Really not interested
I want to go back
I should really know it better
Sounds too much like the other albums. Hard to judge on our own merit.
To listen
Still amazing.
I guess I like it very much.
Illuminated
Too well produced, too sweet. Not a real Cocteau album.
Ok
Not my favourite prince album. Some of the driums are simply irritating
Heavy and commercial.
Great start. I don’t know the end so well
Some surprisingly good bits
Extraordinary single. Rest is fine, from its time.
Classics à gogo
Excellent
Great album (do I know the last song?)
Not as good as the first one but still…
A bit repetitive but interesting
Listen again
Intense
Excellent vibes but a few songs don’t hit off
Heavy
I may finf something about this album which I like, but it’s unlikely that I will ever come back.
Come back. A bit like Donovan.
Seems great
Sounds really enjoyable
Enough Yes albums!
Excellent, exciting diverse
Excellent
That was impressive for the time
Some great sounds
Boring and annoying voice
Only a few great hits. The rest I’m not sure.
Sound of its time.
Amazing.
Seems really entertaining but after 4 listens, I could not catch a tube.
Overrated
One of many
Too wordy
Charlie Oleg
A bit boring but charming
Seems bland and a pale copy of the Beatles
Brilliant. Interesting and moving.
Not bad
One in a million similar albums
Really not my thing
No waste
Sounds good
2 very good songs and that’s all. Doesn’t age well
Strong but I am not attached
Brilliant
Sounds good, modern for the time.
Good but not that good
I thought that I knew it well, but I don’t. The sound production is too heavy and there seems to be many fillers.
Seems strong. Probably not much my type ever.
Still not impressed.
Heavy and MOR. What a terrible singer. But credit to the huge commercial success.
Same as 2 of of theirs
Sounds over produced but still good
Classic
Not sure. Seems to lack some punch
Too long and doesn’t feel so innovative for the time. But sounds fun.
Not his worst
Hard to say
I still don’t get Gillian Welch
Really enjoyed it
Not sure
I may enjoy but I don’t think that I can ever be fan
Some top notch songs but others are transparent
Great end to end. Hard to admit.
Whiny but exceptional
Boring
Seems ok
Damn boring… again
Exceptional start. Then becomes a bit boring.
Some good bits. Introduced electronic music to millions of chavs.
Very good
Not as great as the first 2, but surly very strong
Horrible singer. Still.
Some really good stuff but I feel that I only know the start of the album, after many listens.
No please no!
Jamie's rhythms and beautiful sounds, Romy's and Sim's gorgious voices are once again an immense joy to hear.
Makes me want to discover it more
Seems lostenable
Very good. Doesn’t age that badly.
Should be removed from the list
Perfect
A landmark album of ours time
All tracks are excellent
Perfection in improvisation?
Probably Hendrix’ best album
Somehow not great but I still listen to it regularly
Really horrible stuff. Hasn’t aged well at all.
A bit flat
Fun and good
Pleasant but not interesting. Can we move on?
Still not
Sounds good. Not sure if it’sa 3 or 4.
Very pleasant albeit a bit flat.
Every song is exciting. Definitely Bowie’ top
Brilliant
Seems great. I thought I knew it.
Still not great Percussions are horrible
Covers. Some good songs.
Influenced Dylan
Same as too many albums of that time
Is there a 4.5?
Some great songs
Very good
So many memories
Not sure yet
Seems good
Very unique
Not as good as its reputation
Might just be worth exploring
Some really good songs
Good Christmas album
A little gnangnan
Too mellow
I’ll listen to it again
Most of it is strong, some fillers and some probably not so great songs
Sound is to shrill
A bit repetitive
Superb
The most remarkable thing about this record is that it was commercially successful.
Seems ok. Vulgar but ok.
I really don’t like this kind of rhythm section but other than that it’s ok
Modern classic
A bit boring
Good
The 4 odd songs I recognise are great
Really interesting
Really not great
Great stuff
Good
Some great songs
Not sure
Great band
A bit flat
Still not mature, but loads of hits
I should go back
Ok ok ok but quite bland
On of my favourite albums ever
Ok
Too many great songs not to give it a five
Hits and void
But heavy but very good
Dolphins is one of the best songs ever.
Boring
Probably very good but I really don’t value it.
I should listen again
Not sure
Incredibly heavy stuff
After years of listening to the album, I’m still not finding most tunes
Much better than I thought
Some got turned
Almost perfect
A little bit more commercial than one might expect
Excellent. So lovely
Obviously
À couple of flat songs
Getting used to it.
Strong
Not sure
Too many fillers to be a 5
Good
Seems like one song.
Whiny
No
Unique
Horrible
A couple of weaker songs, and too many covers but still
A nice rediscovery
I still can’t, after 30 years
Patchy and horrible cover but songs are good
One of the top post punk albums
Not hard or nasty enough yet
Doesn’t age well
I still don’t get it
Ok
Next one definitely more consistent
Pleasant
Beautiful
Not sure
Does not age that well
The covers I know are really not as good as the originals
Incredibly heavy. Who likes this?
Maybe not so bad
Seems addictice
Doesn’t age well
Wonderful
Joyful
Very strong
Hard to say. Probably not for me.
Rock & roll is back
I was going to give it a 5 but 1/4 of the songs are not that great
Sounds really good
Great first album
Seems dull
Still totally unconvinced
Exciting
Full of great stuff
Not my favourite from that time
It’s actually a 5 compared to other bands, but for a Beatles album, compared to the later phase in their career, it’s pretty uninteresting
Ok
Mostly great
Great sound. Super innovative at the time.
Great, actually
Perfect
What can we say?
A bit too basic. Teenage Kick is amazing. The guitars sound like That Petrol Emotion
Interesting
Quite funky in some places
Don’t know
Some really beautiful tunes
Flat
Excellent. Joyful.
Sometimes not so heavy
Full of great songs, a little bit inconsistent
No idea after listening 3 times
Really no
Verbose
Sexy, funky but a bit undiverse
Excellent
US punk always seems basic to me, un melodic.
Great sound
Amazing. What a sound.
A few exceptional songs
Incredible first side. Completely flat second side
Strong bit overrated
Seems good but too close to their other albums
Bof
Really doesn’t age well. It was an important album to join the dots between folk, country and the Velvet Underground. But now it really sounds boring.
Inconsistent song structures but absolutely amazing. Just think that he sang I wanna be your dog just a few years later.
It was never that interesting, but ended album of the year for several music magazines. Was it such a bad year?
Quite pleasant
IMO not that great. Beginning is bleak but in a Big Star way. It’s just not so beautiful. Then the rest of the album is more classic Neil Young, but not at his best. Great album cover.
Not bad but not as good as Neil Young or CSNY stuff
A bit heavy but pleasant
Really good
Dry but good
Really irritating
Marvelois
Still not a fan
Surprisingly great, for such a gnangnan album
Absolutely horrible
Great sound great songs great voice
Best RS
Too long
Too long
Sounds good
Always sounds the same
Not a fan yet
Revolurionary
Some pure classics
Only 1 listen, please
Some interesting wresting stuff
Not so bad
Not as exciting as it sounded the first time I heard it
Not my favourite Jam album.
Not perfect
Great
One of my favourite albums of the past 20 years
Fun
Still great
Spellbinding
Classic
A bit soft
Always the same
À pire wonder
Boring
Seems interesting
Brilliant. Exciting
Some excellent bits
Sounds nice with a hit wonder
At least one amazing song
Mmm reall heavy
Too much rocknroll
Horrible stuff
Surprisingly good
Great
Best MOR album ever
I still don’t understand Elvis Costello, after years of trying
Excellent
Seems fun
still underwhelmed
Too crazy?
Weird attempt at being commercial
Overrated but still very good
A better Byrds
Uninteresting
Not my cup of tea but excellent
On and off
Ok
Too long?
Ok
JT are very unique
What is there to say. One of the best albums ever.
Oddly overrated. Not TW’s best
Too many basic covers
Too many fillers
Not impressed
Perfect
Getting used I to it
Fun
Ok
Very strong.
Worth knowing better
Seems very robust
Let’s come back to this one
Strong
Very interesting
Marvelous
Amasing start
Seems quality
Great
Overrated in the sense that it’s a good album but I can’t see how it could be someone’s best album of all time
The 80s were sometimes terrible
Nice
Sticky
My fav Springsteen
Fantastic
The end is a bit long and they repeat the old recipe anyway
Surprisingly appealing
Some great songs. Others a bit boring.
Excellent songs horribly produced
Really fantastic. Refreshing balance between Bjork’s sparkly outbursts and the bands almost dull post punk influenced indie music
A bit bland
Playful and tuneful
Starts like a Ferrari with a handful of annoying hits. Then becomes forgettable.
Exciting
Good
Dry
Flat
Half the songs are amazing, the rest are rubbish. How is that even possible ?
Really dull apart from the first song
I’m’a bit bored of this
Interesting
Tried 4 times. Not so interested
Fresh
Overrated but still a 5
Amazing Exciting, corrupt, tuneful.
Why did he think (and his fans) that piano bar music was ok? A few great songs but not many.
Worth going back to
Better than I thought. More metal than nu metal.
Nice
Very impressive start for a kid, but a tad too long.
Amazing
Slightly not as good as 2, but still incredible
Fun
Cutting music
I tried to like LN, but I find her high pitch annoying and repetitive, her songs too verbose and barely any of her tunes catchy.
Seems worth coming back to
The eighties were so heavy. Sometimes I can’t stand the drums.
Incredibly overrated by everyone, starting from Pitchfork. It’s over complicated, barely tuneful, the singers are annoying, etc. I didn’t understand the hype at the time and still don’t understand. Looking back, 2009 was a bad year in music, except for the xx.
Probably most influential riot girls album
Great tunes all around
These punk albums all sound a bit the same, don’t they?
Sounds really interesting. Certainly worth more listens.
Was probably relevant at the time, but has probably been copied too many times since then.
Some great songs, others less impressive
Mmmm not sure.
Far too overproduced. MJ’s contribution is also annoying.
Not awful actually.
Outstanding first album
I still don’t get steely dan. It’s too polished.
Incredible album. The craziest ever?
Annouing
Decent NY album
Sooo long
One of my favourite albums of all time.
Strong, with some hits
Really disappointing from the ex Smiths leader.
Much better than expected: playful, tuneful, entertaining
A bit flat
Seems fun but not my type
Excellent but they didn’t really evolve much after that
There must have been plenty of better albums that year
Seems interesting but annoying when catchy
Could they not find better albums? (I know tens)
Ok
Not so interesting
No more blues please
Excellrnt
Really not a genre that i like
Ok ok ok not that bad
Fantastic
One of my favourite albums.
I’ve known this one for a long time. I have not cracked it, far from it, but it gives me good feelings.
Ages well
Nu metal was a disease
Fun
I don’t know
Canne too late , after the first daft punk
A bit too cheesy because overproduced
Excellent
Lovely
Some amazing tracks, a fantastic sound. Overall, this is an incredible album.
Interesting
Absolutely fantastic
Much better than expected. Did they influence Arctic Monkeys?
Really didn’t enjoy
Should that not be the most famous jazz album ever?
Really great
What a terrible bore.
A bit dull
Please stop. That’s enough. I don’t want to hear any hard rock cover of talking heads.
So peculiar for an album with standard instruments
Not his best. And I’m not sure why it was his most rated album for a long time.
Really nice
Still a bit disappointed after hearing so much that it was one of the best live albums ever. The Doors or Joy Division have done better.
Sounds good even though I’m not sure if Brian ENO is a good choice as a producer
Some fillers but many great songs.
Giving it a 5 was tempting but it’s a bit too dry.
Very influential, quite enjoyable
Very little waste. Impressive
How quickly some bands evolved successfully at the time
Very good. And Vinny Reilly’s guitar is lonely as usual
Sounds super interesting
Exciting from start to finish
Quite sweet actually
Ok
So dull, repetitive, annoying. I don’t get it.
Oasis inspired, with at least one fantastic song
Ok
Great sounds and everything
Really good
A bit whiny
Very good but lacks Kim Deal’s freshness
Probably good but I don’t like the singer’s voice.
Weird album: many failed starts. I’d love to release a version with reordered tracks.
Important for historical reasons
I don’t know
Fantastic.
Not sure
So dry
Great energy. Great songs.
Sound production is too 80s
A bit dated, but probably some good stuff.
Crazy recording.
Heaviest album ever
I’m insensitive
Seems great. She was unique. What a loss.
I guess they had nothing else to listen to at the time
I still don’t get EC
Great atmosphere/tunes
Very strong. A bit cold.
What a mess
Diverse
A bit borin
Might be worth coming back one day. Really in the middle between Africa and South America
I should come back
Sounds superb
Could be a 5?
MOR and pleasant
Some good stuff.
Fantastic
Great but the fillers are too quirky. I bet they never played them live.
Doesn’t age well
Pure
A bit dull
Ok
One of the best albums of its time
Sounds flat
Heavy
Nothing exciting
Not bad, maybe the end is a bit bland
Really not great. Anyone thinks otherwise?
Cool
Muet portent more
A symphony
Old
Ok
Too hard on the edges
Not my favourite because it’s too heavy compared eg to Astral Weeks, but still it’s full of great tunes
Bof
Classic. Strange to think that Bowie was involved, who has released Ziggy Stardust 6 months before. How did that happen?
I should come back
Annoying voice, mostly covers, commercial sound production: really not my thing.
Quite nice actually
I still need to spend more time listening to it
A cool version of the Red Hots
Sounds fun
Probably very inspirational at the time.
Interesting. I’ve known this album for 40 years. I’ve always considered it a pleasant fraud. The songs are beautifully produced and played but are not real songs. It’s as if they were made by AI. However it’s still a very enjoyable listen, so I give it a 5… oh and also for the cover and the great album ‘s name, almost as good as George Best.
Quite heavy, commercial but crazy, in a good way
Great first album with a unique style. However, I think that they refined their sound later hence the 4.
Not their best
Too beatlesesque, churclike , nasal and long.
To listen to more
I’m really enjoying Genesis more and more
If tête is something of amusing. The rest falls a little flat.
Really noce
Not one I know very well
Not a genre for me
Some of this has aged well.
Sounds good but I am still not into it after a few years
Hard to find in one piece on the various streaming services. Diverse but quite standard for the time.
Fan hard rock
Seems fine
Someone had to do it
Amazing songs, voice, charisma, everything. As often, the album is probably 15 minutes too long.
Perfect new wave album. Or is it post punk?
Wilco are unique
It’s one of these albums were the context is more important than the musuc
Not sure. Maybe a bit too hard , not bowiesque enough.
Impossibly too long
A bit too simple, too heavy
Not sure
Some great songs and a lot of noise in between.
Not sure
A bit flat?
Exceptional first record
Ok ish
Period defining
Superb sounds and melodies. I listened to the German version.
I didn’t find the catchy tunes yet
Why are most modern r&b albums so/too long?
Not sure
Pleasant but I’m still not a big fan of Partridge’s voice
I wish I understood
Fun, neat
Really not something I like. I feel that I’m watching a movie from the 50s again and again
Great transition album, from sexy punk goddess to bard/poet
Very messy, in a good fun way. Not filthy like sticky fingers. Not my favourite RS album but very enjoyable.
Brilliant
Hopefully one day I’ll be able to appreciate
Bland. But 1) one of my favourite bags in the world. 2) was the wedge which opened my life to good music
Can never be as important as blue lines, but still a very strong album
Shoegaze by Robert Fripp. Exceptional.
An album which as definitely grown on me over the years.
Boring
Great Springsteen album
Ok I’m gradually getting used to it
Some great tracks, not consistent though
Give me more listens
Too bluesy while MOR
Seems just a folk album
Better than human league
My favourite quirky album
Please stop adding the latest fad to the list
Mixed feelings but so great
Uneven
Indie music with great, innovative harmonies
Not bad, not original and doesn’t sound as sharp and fresh as when he’s with Meg.
Looking Glass actually > There She Goes
Horrible voice, sadly
Unique voice + sound , but not perfect throughout the album.
A side amazing, B side not
Think calexico or lambchop.
Sounds fun and musically interesting
Too much ambient
One of my top 5
Doesn’t feel special
Not remotely as good as older NO albums
Mellow, sexy, etc.
Still not getting the genre
Nice but no exciting
This album is definitely a prog album. It shows that the Police were a bunch of opportunists
Beautiful covers, but fairly uninteresting music
Sounds strong
Classic shoegaze. But not as noisy s it was perceived at the time
Tuneful, good harmonies, diverse enough, but what a horrible haircut
Cheesy but super tuneful
Some interesting tracks but is it really that good?
Child in time is simply stunning
More interesting than it sounds initially
Pleasant
Fun britpop albums , with 2 ripoffs
I can’t stand early rap any more
Exceptional. A joy from start to finish.
Ok but not very remarkable
Heavy but good
Superb. Refreshing at the time.
Still not impressed
Whinge
Ok but never been great
A couple of great songs
Really enjoyable
Fast fun
Interesting but too long
As cool as you may imagine
I need to know it by heart
Sounds really good
Surprisingly interesting
Heavy but quality
Too Red Hot’ish
Really annoying
Sounds interesting
Crazy, fun and relaxed
Great voice, great tunes
Great album
Still not
Great overall listen
Whiny start, great finish
Totally overrated but a couple of great songs
Fun and clever pop. A gem.
So annoying
Seems repetitive but tuneful
Heavy but I should listen to it more
Not my favourite kinks album because I find it more falsely pretentious and less tuneful than the others
Not bad
Quite diverse
Sounds great but when paying attention I thought there was not so much substance
Great album but I don’t like the voice
This album may have been interesting at the time but it now songs dated
Dated, disappointing
Long.
Surprisingly pleasant. I would have hated it when it was released
Beauty
Lovely
Not their best Big Fall influence.
Really good
I wanted to give OK Computer a 4 because it is overrated and because the bends is simply better, but then I listened to it, and was reminded that 6 or 7 of the songs are great. Yes it’s overrated and the bends of better, but it’s still a 5:)
Nice, ages well
Fun and exotic
I actually liked it
Still not a massive fan of the Who
Great Americana album
Classic
Strong rock album, but I still can’t hear the tunes yet
Really excellent. Like Prince’s mellow but sexy side.
Some fillers, but such a great atmosphere. And some hits.
Too verbose but cosmia is great
Bland
Heavy.
Terrible style but great satisfaction. CAN’s opposite?
Threatening, full of energy, tuneful.
Slightly annoying but was an interesting project at the time
Sounds exciting
So full of personality
30 years before anyone to make that kind of music
Very long and I’m not convinced
Fun
Was super exciting
Lovely and fun. Damon Albarn is fantastic.
Sweet
Full of energy.
Strong compositions.
Classic of its time
Too long
Impressively modern sound
Not remarkable at all
Coool
Some good stuff
Not bad but falsetto singing should be banned forever
Important album in transformative times.
Fantastic album from start to finish
Really good
Is this grunge?
Very sweet
Very good
Not that great
Marvellous
Great americana album
Too many Beck albums sound the same
Imperfect classic
Of course
Such a sound and mood beautiful
Hard to think that this is a great album
already dated
Intelligent and exciting. Undervalued band if there is one.
Lovely. Very strong Minnie Riperton influence
Punchy
A bit bland for a kinks album
Sweet and beautiful
Ok
Too dry
Marvellous
Really not that great, after many listens.
Horribly in you face.
Good but not more
5 even though some of the songs near the end are forgettable.
Doesn’t sound vital
Modern but repetitive
Great sound. Strong personality at a time when bland music dominates.
Transition album from indie to a more produced approach
Of its time. A bit OTT maybe.
I like it more and more. However I still can’t say that I love it.
Very sweet
Ok
Pleasant
Horribly heavy
Most of it not so interesting.
Incredible
Nice
Warm and tuneful
Amazing debut. Not their best but changed everything.
A quirky classic
Bloody heavy
Superb
American hard rock is generally awful. This album is no exception
Great indie album with very clear Syd Barret influence
Lovely
Ok
Nice and quiet. Nothing special after one listen
The music is not that great. Feels largely overrated to me.
Sweet
Not so bad
Not bad
Mostly horrible but not always
Seems ok
Still not my cup of tea
Fantastic
Sounds like one very very long song
More enjoyable than I remember
Lovely but never served revolutionary to me.
Fun rock
Horrible cover making me dread the first listen. But it’s not as bad as feared, with actually many good tracks.
The best
Too serious
Perfect?
Epic
Seems it’s one song
One single song?
Messy at the start, better near the end
Impressive
One to discover
Hard to draw a conclusion
Nice
Bof
Not sure if I’ll go back though
Too much sugar.
Extraordinary
Repetitive
Pleasant
Half the album is classic
Not unpleasant
A bit too gentle
A reminder that eighties pop music was horrible
Cool, refreshing, exciting.
Actually excellent
Still not a fan of partridge’s voice
Too acid
I always found them slightly overrated
OK but really not something I would come back to
Nice although a bit too much of its time
A bit boring
Amazing
Bit dull apart from one good song
No freshness
Quite good
Dated and inconsistant but fun
Unsubtle
Fun and some great tunes
Good to know that exists
Punchy
Nice
Broadly excellent
Too close to Soul Mining
Not his best, but his first ?
Is this an album?
Brit pop? Ha ha ha
Great
Very nice
Not all great
Absolutely not
Doesn’t age well
Really fresh. I still don’t count it as punk at all
Not so important, right?
I thought I knew it well but I don’t. It’s always going to be some of the most horrible sound ever.
Nice and innovative sound at the time, but always similar
Interesting, stylish but a bit boring
Exceptional
Beautiful
Super good
Sweet
Far too whiny
Absolutely marvellous
I’m not sure if it’s a 5 because a few of the songs are annoying by themselves. But others are simply some of the best songs ever, so it’s a 5.
Not so memorable imo
Really interesting
Great
Still don’t get it
Superb
A bit bland
Fun
The worst of the 80s’ sound?
Some interesting songs near the end, but the rest it’s annoying
Some great tracks
Nice
I’m surprised that I was not aware of this very good record
Perfect hence a bit dull
Ok
Quite dull, which is unexpected, given the famous and entertaining hits
Ok ish
Joy
Uneven
They were better electric
Brilliant
Superb tunes
Very rich
Unique, essential
Incredible, full of energy. Some of the songs would not work individually but as part of the album, they are all enjoyable.
Not their best. A bit boring or too produced
Not so interesting
Long and repetitive
Kanye West got some ideas from here
Depressingly beautiful
Too American metal, not punk enough
Nice and cosy
Good
Not impressive either way
A bit too verbose, as usual
Crazy and quality
Interesting bits but gosh it’s long
I vaguely heard a rune
Too much of the same old stuff
Poor man’s stooges
Good tunes, great voice. But overall just a product, at a time when punk was happening, with people trying to change the world. I know which I’m on.
I don’t know enough. Does not seem as good as later albums
One of the best ever
Great late album
Not another Springsteen please
Really nice
Still not impressed, even though some songs sound beautiful
Fun
Great album of its time. Better than oasis
I usually like it but no so much yesterday
One of my favourite albums. Such an outlier !
Pleasant
Fabulous dark fun
Great album with very strong personality
Near perfect
Witty but not sonically interesting
Stunning debut. Janis Joplin, unforgettable shooting star
A bit too verbose.
Not his best
Really not pleasant voice
Good but sounds like a single song
A few classic songs. And what a beautiful voice!
Too heavy. To rap what US metal was to rock.
My favourite Père Ubu album
Very direct. Fun.
What a great, distinctive, romantic, diverse record
Fun, tuneful and intelligent.
One amazing track, the rest neatly below
Nice but not relevant over the long term
Was interesting at the time but doesn’t age well.
Actually better than I remembered
First impression was bad (new metal) but it’s actually not that bad.
I don’t know…. I listened to it a couple of times and can’t remember anything.
Kids is an anthem
Dull
Sweet and quality
Like many other albums
Surprisingly good
Not sure about the genre, but enjoyable
Doesn’t sound like a Nick Cave
Another great album
Fun glam hard rock
Some great tunes but why so long? A 35 minutes album would have been perfect.
I listened to it 4 times. I’m close to breaking it but not yet.
Not unpleasant
Not as bad as I feared when seeing the cover. But far too long.
Better than expected
Tedious sometimes, fun other times
Bland, compared to the other DMR albums I know
Start of her most wishy washy style but still much more than listenable
A bit boring.
Shame he’s not as recognised as Portishead and Massive Attack
Why another beta band album?
Fun but repetitive
Beautiful
I deeply dislike this kind of music
Music which was only relevant at the time
Ok, not much more
Unsubtlissimus
A bit bland compared to his peers
Envoûtant
Not particularly interesting.
Pleasant but unoriginal
Soft in the knee Nirvana
Amazing quality start to finish
Not sure. Came2 years after punk. So what is the interest ?
Ok
Are the Blue Nile and Steely Dan the 2 most boring bands ever ?
Best concept album?
Fantastic
Beautiful
Full of fun but a little too repetitive
More diverse than I thought
