Ok, not my personal taste.
Honestly a bit disappointing. Francis farmer is great tho
Ok, some good songs, not sure Iggy pop is for me.
So old school, I loved it
About as good as pop gets for me
The songs I like, I love.
Really thought I'd like this more
I already know and love, but had forgotten just HOW good it is.
V jazzy, preferred their first earlier stuff.
Toploaded, but great songs
Really amazing soul. A little too stretched in places.
Very nostalgic but not my era of beatles
It's so good. I'm surprised how good it is.
A weird dreamy scratch album
This was surprisingly good. The weird stuff was too weird but the song quality was great
I hate Mark E Smith. Album was fine
This was what I hoped Bad Company would be.
Not as good as later James Brown
Last 2 tracks were great, but the turgid folk/prog from the rest of the album was not for me.
Id probably like it more once I knew it, but I can't get there.
Such smooth style with real messages
Wonderful. The songs with the female vocal were better.
Smooth, soulful, never boring.
I think I'd need to listen again to truly appreciate.
Lovefool is still ruined by overplay for me but this album is great.
Good punky rock, a little unfocussed as the album unfolded
I prefer their earlier stuff but there are some great songs here.
Enjoyed more than I thought
This was wild. Really very good. 4.5.
Some good, most not for me
It just reminds me too much of the pwl style production at the time.
Three good songs, the rest I hated.
Either very strange or a bit interesting in equal parts
Meh, don't love the stooges
Beautiful but too sad for me
The songs are good, but the 60s production gets in their way a bit.
Surprisingly jazzy and soulful. Could do without the drum solo
Bit too melancholy for me
Really good. Light punky folk
One of my favourite albums
I like this album. -1 star for being a dick ryan
I love the stones but the 60s production curse strikes again.
I expect I will enjoy other Ray Charles albums more.
Fine easy listen. Very 1994
You know what, it was good.
Fred Durst really beloved he was the voice of the generation recording this.
I think I hate Solo Bjork.
I wish I was a bit cooler.
I find them so bland and pompous
Good bits but too cold for me
I like, but not love. Voice not my favourite.
I feel there is better Ray Charles to come.
I liked it less than expected
I like madness, this was a bit conventional
3 stars for the 3 songs I liked. Hated the rest
3.5, more pop than I expected
There are better queen albums
I thought I was in for a long listen after first track, the rest I loved.
This would have been 5* when I was 15. It just doesn't have it for me anymore.
Quite liked. Didn't realise Julian Cope
Production is poor, songs are strong.
I'm not keen on folk it appears
Alright. Not keen on vocals
Some good songs but a bit busy overall
Good bits are good, sad bits are sad.
2 because drive, 1 for the rest. It feels like everyone is uncomfortable with the sound they make.
There comes a pont where I feel I just want to hear a song. And I love pink Floyd!
Its the best zep album I've heard I reckon.
Loads of songs I knew, all bad
I mean, it's fine for what it is. But not for me.
I am not sold on 'challenging' jazz
Great songs first half, great moods second half
There is some generic 80s producer with blood their hands.
Good songs but too much unaccompanied guitar wankery
I don't mind the fall, not keen on mark e smith
4 for the songs.
-2 John Lennon
-2 Phil Spector
+2 Jealous Guy
I was dreading this a bit. But this is more ambient than I expected. It's before the dentist drills and chaos drums phase that followed.
First third 4 stars.
Last quarter 4 stars.
Got lost there in the middle forgetting to make songs.
This music is so ubiquitous to me. I feel like it's the soundtrack to a million scenes in a million shows.
It's just music for the background to me. Harmless.
Great singles, the rest felt a bit unfocussed.
Started strong and then fell off for me. This feels like the transition album where they were learning how to fuse psychedelic sounds with pop songs and not quite getting there.
I enjoyed it as background
Some good, some a bit harsh for me
I don't think I care too much for the doors
Thought the first three tracks were 5stars.
It's such a cliche to like Elvis Costello, I hate it.
Got a bit lost in the middle but such strong songs
Meh, I found his shtick a bit annoying on this one
Obvs some good songs, but too much pretentious twaddle.
I remember this from yore
Some of their finest work.
It's dated in many places, but it's still a jam
I have a new appreciation for gangsta rap as I get older
Couple of fun moments but deeply bland
Too self indulgent to ever be good
Proto jazz punk too far for me
I bought this when it came out.nits pretty good. A lot of covers
Great vibes later in the album but awful 80s production dude...
I loved the first 2 portishead albums. This one is poor by comparison.
I think I might not be keen on folk music
I find geddy's voice grating, but this is titanic regardless
Some great grooves let down my lots of atonal interjections
Just so self indulgent. I feel he wanted a Jeff Lynn thing, but he ain't him.
A lot of chaff but some good stuff here
Here comes the sun and come together are 5 stars. The rest... Overrated
I expected to give this 2 stars but it was pretty good actually
Great sound, needed a few more songs
The funk tracks massively overshadow all the rest
It really is a template for so much modern indie
Tricky one, his talent is truly exceptional.
He hasn't hurt anyone in real life.
His career was driven as an antithesis to the manufactured boy/girl groups.
However, the misogynistic and homophobic language feels from another era entirely and I find I don't vibe with it the way I once did.
There was a familiarity to a lot of the songs here. I didn't expect to like it so much.
Such a disappointment after Young Americans
Lots of great grooves but lacking some hooks to really bring me in.
Some great tracks but a bit inconsistent. 2.8
I like jazzy punk it seems
Still a bit stale but the best stooges album I've had
I like electro but a bit samey
This album feels like the apex of their beat era
Started as a 1, finished a 3
Obvs some great songs but inconsistent.
Something about his melodies
I think a lot of folk might not be for me
A total shock to me. I find Zappa a bit incoherent occasionally and this was a jam from start to finish.
A bit inconsistent but smash it up is 6 stars
The hits are mega, a LOT of questionable lyrics.
Great voice, couple good songs. Lot of airy filler
Loads of great songs intercut with a lot some weird cheesy nonsense
Gentle and lovely but a lot of covers that aren't great
I can hear that it's good, but I'm also aware how overplayed all the singles were.
As far as Avant Gard music goes, it was pretty good
Good songs, never need a drum solo
Some good songs but her voice grates me a lot
Sounded fine, I don't know enough to know
The bastardisation of this form has bluntened the power this must have had back yore
Smooth, jazzy, political. V nice
I like his stuff. -1 for content
Some great songs but trying a bit hard sometimes
I find Brett's voice and Bernard's guitar tone equally enjoyable.
I've always quite enjoyed this era of 90s dance when it went full "Whale-Kissing Moon-Maiden"
Not quite good enough to be as grubby as it is
I get it but it's not for my ear. All feels very produced and processed.
Good album, no bad tracks, couple of bangers OBvS... Just doesn't quite stick to my soul
Some good songs but a bit dreary
I was hoping for a deeper look at folk from a pop perspective. What I got was lilting pop with some acoustic guitar. Fine, just a bit disappointing.
I prefer their next album. Same energy but better songs
Love rise, the rest is too Avant guard for me
I can't believe I got this today. Ozzy RIP on this day.
Really great. Even better on a second listen. 4.5
Potential there but I'd need more time with it I think
Extra star cos the full version of common people is epic
V good. Somehow missed them first time around.
I mean, I get it, but not for me
The guitar is so poor I couldn't take it. Enjoyed Joplin tho, felt she deserved a better sideman
Some epic tracks, and some that are more of a miss
I got this album as a teenager and I didnt care for it, back then I had no idea what dub was. It's fine now.
Too close to musical theatre for me
Enjoyed this more than some of his other stuff
Very good. Not far off a 5
Surprisingly great. Close to 5*
I prefer first album a bit. This feels transitional
Bits have aged poorly, but most of it sounds so fresh still.
Like 2 quite good completely different albums squished together
This was awful, I know they can do better
Prefer their later, weirder stuff
Some good songs but the rest too samey
Not my favourite of theirs
Fine, but I miss real drums
Fine. But a little lacking in personality
More manufactured sounding than I remember
Too old skool, feels v synthetic.
Fine. A little non descript
