1001 Albums Summary

I guess I just didn’t get it. I was a little too jarring; can’t see myself listening to it again.

I guess this is what a five looks like! Knew I liked Muse. Didn’t realize how many of their good songs were on this album.

This would be a strong two closer to a three, but still a two. Just don’t imagine listening to it again. The songs felt like they were all over the place. A few seemed like they were just a chorus, repeated over and over.

The music was nice but I do not like the sound of their voices.

Did not realize how many hits were on this one album.

I’m a sucker for Xmas songs.

As good as I remember.

This verged on a 2 but it’s not so bad I’d turn it off. But Cars and Cars comes close.

Got to be a pretty good recording and performance for me to get into a live album. This was not either.

Bonus credit for truly being a single entity album

Never appreciated how similar in style some of these songs are to Nirvana. Also never appreciated how good this album is.

If not for the couple of classics this would be a two.

Can’t hear this without thinking of Out R Inn’s back patio.

Honestly, not one of my favorite Radioheads. But even bad Radiohead is still three.

This was better than I expected, but I expected it to be a 2.

It’s neat that this is early Iggy Pop but this is not my thing at all.

I must have listened through in the 2000s bc I recognize most songs. Not as good as I remember though.

So many later influences

This is on the edge of a three but I think I’d come back to it so calling a four.

Plenty of good songs here, just not quite my kind of good songs.

This one felt like work to get through

Faded into the background. When I did notice it was hard to tell songs apart. Lots of saxophones.

Don't know a lot about Steely Dan, or therefore Donald Fagen. Sounds a little too smooth-jazzy for me.

I liked the energy in this but there are two many instances where the improv devolved into noise for me.

Would not have expected to like this as much as I did.

I knew from the cover and year, but went in with an open mind. I was right.

I don't know what to even say other than it's not my thing.

More hits than I realized on here. Not sure I've heard Good Feeling before, but really enjoyed it in particular.

Brand new band for me - pulling at least one song from it into my mix: "Save What You Can"

Found many songs to be catchy, even if the themes are not. Songs to come back for: He Can Only Hold Her (but several more I liked)

Extra credit for each song sounding so unique. Song to come back for: Solsbury Hill

Was nice to hear something a little different, but not sure I'd come back to it.

Found this one fun.

Have heard We Are Family so often I assumed I knew this group. One of the first times I was really glad to listen with headphones, very intricate songs. Songs: He's the Greatest Dancer, We are Family

New artist to me. Songs were pretty good, just a little melancholy for my music tastes.

Was originally going to call this a four, but based on the number of songs I'm noting I'm giving it all five. Songs: Too many to list right now, maybe all of them, will listen again.

The second half really salvages this album. Songs: Every Breath You Take, King of Pain, Wrapped Around Your Fingers, Murder by Numbers

Unexpected 5 for me. I would have guessed a 3 in advance. I've heard almost all these songs and they tend to fade into the background. This time I actually paid attention and have been surprised.

This is one of those albums where almost all the songs are strong. Could do without the interludes, but at least they were short. Songs: Miss You Much, Escapade

I've always thought I'm missing something with Dylan. He's fine but I just don't get the pedestal he's put on.
