I liked it, but wouldn't bother to revisit it. Not really my style.
Starts strong but kind of melts into the background over time.
eh...
Not my thing...
I forgot how good this album was...
Some good tune can be found here.
Not really my style, but I'm glad I listened to it.
I thought I would hate this, but I can understand the appeal.
I tried. I'm not going to pretend to like this just to look cultured though.
Made it two songs in. Just can't...
Pretty unremarkable really...
Not a 5 for me, and lots of me wants to put it in the middle as a 3, but something pushed it to a 4.
Lots of great songs with a fair bit of filler.
Surprised at how much I liked this...
Nearly a 4, but it doesn't hold up as well as I thought it would.
Nearly went with a 3, but pushed it to a 4. It's quite enjoyable.
Only a 4 because it's far from the Beatles at their best.
Love the Sonics
It's just not very good... there's much better 60's garage and proto-punk out there.
Never heard these guys before. I liked it.
Pretty generic really.
Not Bowie's best work, but still very good.
Not his best, but still 5 starts.
I wanted to give this a 2 because it's really not for me, but I'm pushing it to a 3. Although it's not my style, something in it made me not hate it, and that's actually a pretty good effort.
I am not the target audience here...
Maybe I'm not getting something here, but I can't see the appeal in this music at all.
Still not my style. This is better than other artists of a similar style, but it's just not for me.
While there are some great songs here, the record kind of just melts into the background. I know why it's a great album, and I can hear it, but nothing really grabbed me.
Going with a 3 here. I like the music, but do we need a 90 minutes about Lynyrd Skynyrd and the politics of the south in the 70's?
Pretty good, but nothing I'd really come back to.
Didn't hate it as much as I thought I would.
Meh. I'm often not interested in super groups that just together for an album or two.
While I usually like art rock and things like that, this just goes into the background without much interest.
Why this Husker Du album? They have better work and Warehouse is just too bloody long for this type of music... A generous 3.
I wish I could get more out of albums like this, but I'm not going to rate this higher just to be more sophisticated.
I'm not a fan of a lot of hip-hop, but I quite liked this. I like the more minimal beats. Nothing really stand out though so I'm keeping it at a 3.
I just don't get Talking Heads. I try because they're one of those bands you're supposed to like, and I just can't do it.
Eh...
So boring...
Middle of the road rating for a middle of the road album.
Surprisingly good.
Seriously, what am I missing about Radiohead? I can't understand how anyone listens to this...
Not for me.
Very repetitive. "Good Times" is okay, but pretty standard disco.
Never understood the Talking Heads and this is just David Byrne going even further.
This is getting a generous 3 because of the influence. The Stones have much better and more creative work.
Nah. I don't mind Cheap Trick (although not a real fan either), but the quality of the recording wasn't very good and the sound of the crowd was annoying. I don't get the point of this album.
I'm not the biggest fan of funk, but this was pretty good. Easy 4.
Nearly a 5. When it hits, it hits well, but the few songs that aren't bangers really drag it down.
I like a fair amount of heavy music, but generally not Nu Metal. I actually liked this, but will probably not come back to it.
eh
I enjoyed the first half, but it started to meander too much in the second half.
OK, but forgettable. I've heard Jane's Addiction before and never really cared. Still don't.
Some very very good songs here, but when they try to branch out from the formula they fail. Otherwise this would have been an easy 5.
Not Elvis at his best. Feels over produced.
I don't really know about this type of music to make an assessment.
I'm surprised I didn't hate this... It does tend to blend into the background though, which I think may have been the point. But I'm not likely to come back to this album.
Pretty ordinary honestly
Quite good, but feels like there's a bit of filler in there. The album doesn't need to be this long.
It's just full of bangers...
I found this music boring and uninspiring when it was first popular and still do.
Nearly only gave it a 4, but yeah, it's too good so it's a 5.
A very generous 3. The music is good, the production is good, but at the end of the day, it's the score to a film.
Pleasantly surprised here, even though the style wasn't really for me.
Pretty bland, honestly. I'm assuming these guys were so influential to the point that they sound stereotypical of their own sound, but I still don't dig it.
Classic.
I find music like this kind of boring. Couldn't get into it.
I like country music, but generally not popular country. But Dolly is a treasure.
Just confirming my thoughts that I find Van Morrison boring.
A bit of a reluctant 4. I've nearly gone with a 3 because I feel like there's a lot in this album that feels like filler, but the general vibe is good enough for a 4.
X-Ray Spex are possibly my favourite punk band.
Floyd got better later.
Easy.
Some good songs, but as usual Clapton has a couple good tracks and the rest is forgettable.
The only decent songs on this album are about houses... Would be a 2, but the house songs are quite good.
Surprised I haven't heard of this guy before. Love it.
I'm going to go with a 4, although somewhat reluctantly. It's not an album I reach for when I want to rock out, but I can appreciate the point of it.
Pleasantly surprised. Never really rated ELO. Now I do.
I like Roxy Music better than Brian Eno's solo work but less than Bryan Ferry's solo work. But I suppose Eno wasn't involved in this one, so perhaps that's why I didn't mind this...
Although I appreciate the craft here, this type of music slides into the background and I don't actually listen to it.
I quite liked this album but nothing really stood out.
Getting a 3 cuz it's Simon and Garfunkel. They've done much better and more interesting work than this though.
Why was this such a big selling album? I'm not seeing anything special about it.
Pleasantly surprised, however got a little bored towards the end.
It's a "no" from me. Since it was recorded across so many different dates and overdubbed so heavily, this is essentially just a greatest hits record. I don't mind Thin Lizzy, but I think this goes against the spirit of live recordings.
Pretty mediocre all up...
Meh. Middle of the road.
Pretty interesting. It takes understanding and skill to not make this sort of thing sound terrible. I quite liked this, but likely won't be coming back to it.
Yeah, I'm not listening to two hours of this...
Not Beck's best.
Boring newwave.
I can appreciate the importance of this album, but it's not something I'm going to re-visit.
I assume this is a good example of the genre. But a genre I'm not into.
Pretty forgettable.
I really don't like Radiohead.
I really like this album, but there seems to be some filler. At more than an hour long, they could have made some cuts.
I like this kind of music and I like the Allman Brothers, but I don't need a 23 minute rendition of Whipping Post...
It's a Christmas album...
Great album.
No direction, kind of lame really.
What was that?
This should be an easy 4, but a third of the album is a 10 minute song... lots of good, but plenty of filler for such a short album.
Underwhelming. I'm never a big fan of live albums.
Never heard of these guys before. Quite liked it.
Not Waits' best, but pretty damn good.
I didn't hate this one, unlike other radio head albums.
Not my thing.
Surprised at how much I liked this
I wish I could give this a 4, but beyond the obvious hit, it's a bit repetitive and really only has Aretha's voice holding it up.
I forgot how good this album is...
The album deserves a 3, +2 for Beatles, -1 for being the Beatles not at their best. That equals 4.
Gonna go with a 4. There's some very good music here, but it all feels like it's trying too hard.
I wanna give this a 3, but it's a 4.
Pleasantly surprised...
It's a good album but it kind of just melts into the background.
At the time of writing, this is the lowest rated album on here. "How bad could it be?" I thought. It was that bad.
I should like the Byrds more but I don't.
No as good as Apocalypse 91, but still quite good.
Almost a 5, but not quite...
I didn't mind this too much, but wouldn't revisit it again.
Didn't get it. Not your typical beach boys. Give us at least one song with a beat.
Very very very not for me.
It doesn't really feel like a Whote Stripes album but it's a good album.
Didn't like this one but. They seemed to be trying too hard to be clever.
Didn't enjoy this at all.
I can understand the appeal here, but I find thing kind of music kind of boring.
I listened to the wrong album at first and didn't like it. I quite enjoyed listening to the correct album though!
Nope.
Wonderful
Pretty generic 90s alternative if you ask me..
Other than Alright, there's not much there.
Not really my thing.
Good at what it is, but not my style.
I find Coldplay exceptionally boring and one dimensional. But not as bad as U2.
Quite nice. Nothing stood out too much, but I quite enjoyed it.
Sweet, let's sample some blues music and loop that with a dance beat.
A slightly resistant 4. Where it hits, it really hits, but it's very long and feels like a lot of filler, which was making me think give it a 3. But there are enough iconic tunes in here to give it a 4.
How painfully boring...
I mostly liked this, but I feel like this sort of thing has been done better by others without the cheese.
Great album.
I couldn't get through it. I don't mind hip-hop, but I didn't enjoy this at all.
I would like this album more if someone said "hey, have a listen to this, it's interesting." I don't think it's an album I need to hear before I die.
I guess I really like MGMT. Didn't know that.
Why is this here?
If it wasn't such a classic and influential sound this would be 2 stars.
Total masterpiece.
Another record on that list that I can't for the life of me understand why it's here. It's not different enough to be noteworthy, nor is it an extremely good example of a genre.
Why is this album here? It's not great...
A reluctant 3 because there's nothing inherently wrong with the album, but there are much better examples of 90's skater punk. Dookie made the 1,001 albums list, and also came out in 1994, so that's good at least. But NOFX's Punk in Drublic also came out in 1994 and it's not on this list?! And Smash makes it? No sense...
Great second half. First half good, just not as good.
It's stuff like this that makes people think that they don't like country music.
I don't like ratings out of 5 because although this is a great album, it's not the Pixies' best. But I still have to give it a 5.
Nothing exceptional.
I've never liked the Police and listening to a whole album confirms that.
Boring.
