A complete racket
Don’t want your album on Spotify? Take this 1 star L.
Nasty, noisy, primite hardcore punk, it was difficult to get through those 38 minutes.
Not really loving the Punk, but you could tell they were
Nei, nei, nei. Kjedelig punk
I'm a fan of punk but this isn't my kind of punk. On first listen it just comes across as super unrelenting and unintelligible. Hard to really pick out any standout tracks, given that it all just kind of has the same feel to me on the first listen. Standout Tracks: N/A.
Awful shouting Just awful
Punk killed rock n roll to leave us with this? A little goblin boy let loose in the studio. Didn’t understand a word he said. I feel like in the perfect mood this could peak at three stars but I was pretty fuckin sick of it by track three.
Yeah I mean it's definitely noisy, can't take that away from the boys #dadtake. Can't say this one really gelled with me - his voice is not my cup of tea and it's nothing I haven't heard before. Some songs were basically unintelligible, which is fine if it's not the same guitar chords just over and over.
Pure noise
Only one song on Spotify available
I know this record is important but I kinda hated it. The bandsaw vocals, thin production and terrible bass playing made this a tough listen, and I needed a lot of imagination to picture the live energy.
Lousy punk rock
hardcore punk is ein bissi zu wild für mich :( instrumentals sind eh geil teilweise aber das brabbeln vom sänger taugt mir nicht so.
Not for me.
This album was unavailable to me on any of the streaming platforms I use so I listened to another album by this band. It was not my thing at all. The singer sounded like he wished he was Johnny rotten and I swear to god he sounded like he was chewing his own face at times. No thank you.
Not my cup of tea. Feels like one of those bands who are more famous than they should be because of tragedy? Too scratchy and tuneless; the music isn't great and you can't really hear much of the lyrics. Apparently it's the first hardcore punk album, but I don't think there's much there that we haven't heard from other artists recording earlier in the seventies? 1/5, it's just not nice to listen to and has very little in the way of redeeming features.
Didn't enjoy this at all.
Not for me, understand that it's punk but personally found it too samey.
This project has made me realise I have a very low tolerance of punk and there's far too much of it on the list. This was awful.
I can see that this was an important and influential album, just not a great album.
Feel like I’m listening to someone angry about the things going on around them at the time. Sound like Nam evaders
Meh. This album isnt even on Apple Music at the time of this review, so I went and listened to some of the tracks on other services. Nothing special, not worth comment. 1/5
Feels totally unnecessary. Just aping UK punk. Rubbish
Punk was a mistake. 1
Although I didn’t get to listen to the whole album I could tell I wasn’t going to enjoy it. Punk is not my thing *
god bless the people who enjoy this album, because i'm not one of them. the vocals were just too rough, and i couldn't find many positive things because the vocals ruined the whole album.
I liked a lot of the instrumentation on this album, but the vocals almost ruined it for me on nearly every track -- just not my thing. I thought Lexicon Devil and Manimal were two of the more well-rounded songs, both musically and vocally.
Well, at first I couldn't believe my ears. This album sounds like my hypothetical pals creating a punk band and handing me their first demo for a review. My answer would be "I kinda liked the vibe, but there's a lot of ahead of you". Stockholm syndrome made me listen to it twice. To their credit their guitarist and drummer did their best. However, vocals. Later I read about the band's history and it made a little more sense - first punk album in LA that sparked a new trend in the USA. Lead vocalist being an anarchist and nihilist, who died a year after release from heroin overdose. It's his magnum opus, a manifest against the world he knew and he didn't agree with. However, it doesn't justify the decision to put it on the 1001 list. Overall a painful experience from the music perspective, but an intriguing story behind it.
No powiem szczerze - niezbyt mi się podobało
The Other Newest One pozytywnie mnie zaskoczyły.
Fucking noise. F-
Guitar noise accompanied by screaming, what's there to like?
sounds like random yells. horrible
the worst thing I have ever heard...songs 1 and 2. Didn't even click on 3
I'd rather listen to a drill having a go at a concrete wall
Since this came out in 79, I guess I can't make my comment about the fact that the hardcore guys were just punk wannabes who showed up too late. Some critcs say Germs lyrics are brilliant, but I've read them while listening to the tracks and still couldn't make them out - at times, I was sure I had the wrong song. However, I will say honestly, that I like this at least twice as much as all the hardcore that's been sent our way so far.
This is peak punk. Can't understand anything the singer is saying though. 3/10.
2/10
Just not a vibe I'm into right now
Couldn't even finish this
nope, like the worst of nu metal and American punk
I started listening to the 1001 albums with the intention of giving each album at least one full listen. And today I broke that intention. I got about 6 songs in and realised it’s all the same noise but with different (indistinguishable) lyrics attached to the tracks. in 1979 this may have been “cutting edge” today in 2020 it’s just noise, and not the good type either. It should be left in the 70’s it’s hasn’t aged well
I don't like it when he hijg/roept in de micro :(
Not for me. At all.
1.5
Didn't like anything about it. Especially vocals.
No idea if this album is of significance. Not heard of them. Not inclined to go any further.
i probably would've killed myself too if i was responsible for creating this garbage
Fucking awful punk rock. I will never understand.
Ew.
Spotify didn’t seem to have this one. Listened YouTube for like 10 seconds. Not my style
Although having worked for a short period as a sound engineer in hard rock an trash metal and commercial music, I could not really appreciate this hardcore punk album. Although I could recognize a lot of riffs in the music to be hard rock and trash metal riffs.
Not on Spotify but it sounds like I would hate it
Not my jam. Some decent sounds but not for me
Ew
1979. Key Songs: Lexicon Devil
If you read this, i've jumped out of my window.
