Meh
What? Another generic early 2000s singer songwriter writing the most bland indie I've ever heard? YES PLEASE. And now I read his Wikipedia page I see he either stabbed himself or was murdered by his girlfriend..... Sound
joyful
Feels like I’ve been living an early 2000s indie American film star life listening to this. It’s good background music, but only that. Ultimately, quite dull and plodding, like all early 2000s indie American films.
I got three songs into this and gave up. Second track had the air of Simon & Garfunkel, which is not a good thing.
Meh.
I can't stand Elliott Smith
Was not worth my time
Horrible
Elliott Smith’s voice sent shivers down my spine in a bad way. This album is way too whiny. This was definitely a cry for help considering what happened to him.
meh
Proficient
I really don't like this.
Turned it off a few songs in. Piano and guitar are nice, but you’ve is too whiny for my liking. Listen again: no Purchase for my collection: no Favourite Song: none
Couldn't get through it. It seems too dated in that early 2000 whiny, mumbled voice
All songs sound the same. Boring
This is the kind of utter shit listened to by 13-year-old girls after they've had an argument with their mum
Even being from Portland I don't understand the fascination with Elliott Smith. I did love "Plainclothes Man" by his band Heatmiser. Outside of that, I have always found him to be vanilla, both in his singing and the song structure/hooks. Is it the message and song writing people like? Was it the time and that sound resonated with people? I can admit I've never listened to this entire album. But nothing jumps out at me as being essential listening. It's ok, I wouldn't leave the room if someone threw it on, but I also wouldn't get into a groove either. There are likely hundreds of albums that sound this bland from late 90's and early 2000's. The album borders on meandering and boring, I struggled to finish most songs, there won't be a second listen. The saving grace is most songs are under 4 mins long, but then there are 16 songs to drag the experience out. One star for trying, just not my thing I guess. Certainly not a Top 1001 album.
If you enjoyed it, great. I won’t be going back to this one.
I should have just not listened to this album. I don't think I liked any part of this album -- well it was so blandly inoffensive, I mean almost aggressively bland, I completely lost interest so I probably really only listened to the first two or three songs so at least isn't was keeping my attention throughout.
In another instalment of why is this on the list? Seriously underwhelming just soft boy whining shit. Some of the instrumentals were okay, but I couldn't nail down a theme other than this guy being whiny. That's all I got, my favourite song was Bye because it was the end. 1/5
Glad eg aldri trenge å hørra på da igjen
I just cant seem to get into Elliot Smith
softboi asmr piffle
Forgettable.
This guy is dogshit
Terrible album. Terrible music. Really sad. I like stuff in that genre but this was horrifically depressing.
Not a fan of these types of albums. Lacking energy, whiney, watery vocals, uninspiring lyrics. Too many depressed song writers already. Don't feel any desire to ever listen to this again.
Boring
The music is great but this guy is probably one of the worst singers I’ve ever heard. Eww. So hard to get through it.
Pure torture
That was definitely early-2000's singer songwriter. Had to slog through that one. 1.5 stars
Would not play!
Shoegazing pish
That was really boring. 1 star.
I didn't care about it
droning singer songwriter strum along wank NNN
No comment.
Didn’t really like it. Too soft for my liking. The best song was the cover of “Because”
Dreary
Nicht mein Geschmack.
dreadfully dull. hard skip.
If the best song I'll ever hear is in the back half of this album and I never hear it because I refused to keep listening, that's fine with me. Plonky piano music seemingly designed to be put on the mix CD a high school boy who got dumped will slip into the locker of the girl who said she never wanted to hear from him again.
2000s male indie is the worst genre ever I fear
Boring
Not really a big fan of this. The lyrics seem very simple and repetitive, nothing really innovative or ground breaking. First album I have been glad to be done with.
Really didn't care for the music. Not a big fan of the whispery vocal delivery he uses. Felt it buried the lyrics. Junk Bond Trader was the only song that I found interesting--- Maybe Easy Way Out. Otherwise hard pass. Couldn't get through he whole thing.
Just a bit too whiney for me
Indie nonsense
I did not really like the lead singer's voice. 1/5
Uskomattoman tylsä. Ei jaksa kuunnella loppuun asti. En ymmärrä miksi tällaista edes tehdään.
Didn’t finish album. Found it boring. The vocals were too soft and I wasn’t a fan of the singing
DK // I really really tried to get into this album but I can’t get over how much I dislike his voice and even worse his haircut in that cover photo lol. Favourite track I guess Everything Reminds Me of Her. Rating - 1/5

Don't know how I feel about this one
Nul de fou ! De la folk sans sucre la
Another swing and a miss. Didn’t even finish the album it was so bad.
Some of these albums have e left me questioning the nature of this site. Is this a social experiment? Am I being tested or tricked in some fashion? But then I see the listen count on Spotify, and I realize that it might be my taste that is the outlier. Whatever the reason, I seem to be wearing thin on patience while trying to locate the beauty in mediocre music.
Não gostei AHAHAHA
Not my favourite, and i didn't make it through the whole album. The band seemed to struggle with what genre they wanted to be and, to my mind anyway, just seemed to be a blandish version of each.
The worst
so whiney
Meh
pretty mid 3/10
? Not my music
No bueno
Downbeat.
Not a fan whatsoever.
yada yada
meh
forgettable
Very Badly Drawn Boy
Meh
Really don't like this sound of music. Singing voice is jarring and doesn't match the acoustic feel in my opinion.
nothing interesting...
Did not enjoy.
Not a fan…..
Making the same mistake, ad nauseam. An entirely blank greeting card. Ennui. So very sad. Seemingly, so very little wisdom gained, or shared, from the experience. There’s the blues- that’s one thing, a wholly other thing. I would title this genre, the grays. Sorrow as an end to itself. Elliott Smith died at 34 of self-inflicted stab wounds following a row with his girlfriend, compounded by substance abuse. This recording feels very wrong, and I don’t ever want to hear it again.
Algo plano para mi gusto.
Jesus Christ
Lame
Фигня
harsh and what felt like unpolished first two tracks turned me off!
Meh...
