I went in with an open mind wanting to like this but it was a bit too heavy for me.

This is not good. The drums were good but that's it.

Wiki notes say the genre is nu metal and the definition of nu metal says it " . . . rarely displays . . . musical technique". I guess I prefer music that actually displays musical technique. The title of the second song had me laughing out loud but I can't bring myself to +1 for that.

No need to shout. I get that they may have anger-management issues, but that doesn't mean I want to be a part of it. Bailed during the second track.

I tried, but I couldn't make it through the first song. The hardest of hard passes.

I wasn't looking forward to this one, but i pushed through. This is so excruciating to listen front to back. I apologize to my ears for the hour wasted on bad music. 2 out of 10

Do not like the screaming singing. I don’t mind some of the faster metal instrumentals. Would not listen again.

Yep, the whole thing is sick. Like their attitude and the weird bleeps/intro's, but have always found this 'aggressive' music quite boring and silly and more for 16 years old kids. Fine if you are 16 but for others: grow up.

Loud teenage angst combined with some toxic masculinity equals a shit album. Again I harp on this but, this makes the 1001 list but Tool doesn't? I really question the people who contributed to this book. There's good metal out there. (Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Fates Warning, Queensryche just to name a few.) Stuff like this gives metal a bad name.

Alright, nice things only: 1) Corey Taylor is a truly impressive vocalist 2) The frenetic rhythms on display prove both creativity & technical prowess 3) "Eyeless", "Wait and Bleed", "Surfacing", and "Spit it Out" is a consecutive run of songs where I wasn't praying for it to be over. There were 2 lists I made as a teenager, Favourite Bands & Least Favourite Bands. I think Slipknot and Marilyn Manson were neck and neck for the top spot of the 2nd list, but my knowledge of both artists was pretty limited. Also that list included Kanye, T Swift and Rihanna from what I recall, so I could have been wrong about this too! Still not a fan

Like bad sex and cold pizza, my enthusiasm for this intensity peaks at about 10 seconds in, drops significantly after 90 seconds, and is completely gone at 3 minutes.

I didn’t get Slipknot when I got into metal, and I don’t get them now. I hate the percussion and I think their songwriting is pathetic. They wouldn’t know a heavy riff if it bit them in the ass. I don’t like being the guy who hates the mainstreamy stuff- I’ll go to bat for SOAD- but I don’t think there’s anything here for me. Just an annoying hodgepodge of sounds. I’d rate this a get the fuck out of my face.

I didn’t enjoy my time here. Same seems to go for the dudes who made this album. They’re screaming about wanting to die and that just kinda sucks. I liked the drums but really hated everything else. Sorta just all sounds the same. I really thought the drumming was super sick and was definitely the highlight of the album.

I really like good metal, but not too many people have ever accused slipknot of being good. A very repetitive, boring album.

This was a tough listen but I did it. Pretty innovative I suppose, but didn’t vibe with it personally at all.

I really hate Slipknot. The drums, like the other Slipknot album, are amazing. But everything else is a dumpster fire and I cannot believe that there are two of these albums on this list when one was way, way to many.

Generic vocals, generic instrumentation, generic aggression, weak production. The lyrics sound like they were written by a 14-year-old who just got grounded for smoking a cigarette: Fuck it all! fuck this world! Fuck everything that you stand for! Don't belong! don't exist! Don't give a shit! Don't ever judge me! This is a deeply unpleasant listen.

No doubt this app is responsible for more than a few Maggots among us. Not me though.

I remember being pleasantly surprised at how not terrible the last slipknot album was but this one sucked ass. The lyrics were cringe and the screaming on every track was grating the whole time. No person needs to listen to more than one slipknot album before they die

I already wasted my time listening to one Slipknot album for this project. The fact that there are two Slipknot albums on this list is baffling to me. I can only hope this is the last time they show up. I don't understand why they need so many band members to produce this clown metal.

oof just terrible, vary hard to listen to a single song all the way through. It just feels like it was written with all the boiling anger and angst of teenage boys in the late 90s, and it's really for them and no one else. Cool drumming I guess. As a gen-x woman, I'm clearly not the audience for this, but I'm not sure there should be a wide audience for this kind of rage. Sometimes I think about all those angry boys from high school wearing Slipknot shirts and I wonder how many showed up to destroy democracy on Jan. 6, ya know?

Listening to this album is like being dumped into an industrial washing machine full of wasps while a banshee screams at you with a dystopian raid alarm going on in the background.

Was dreading this, but was determined to go in with an open mind. Holy shit. from the first noise I 100% hated it. It's music for people who want to shout about how different they are while being absolutely the same. It was kind of inevitable in the 90s after so many years of pop blandness that this type of music would appear. But its just the different side of the same coin to plastic pop in that it's all about image.

Not for me. You really only need to listen to maybe 3-4 tracks to get the gist of this 15-song album – way too long for this monotony of sound. I haven't listened to much of Slipknot, but this album is definitely for nu-metal fan – which, I think, doesn't age well. I get that Joey Jordison was a great drummer, but it still didn't do it for me.

Terrible sub punk

Album No. 191 & a serious candidate for being the worst of all. The notes promised me an “album that spans several genres”; well if ‘aggressive’, ‘repetitive’, & ‘shite’ count as different genres then it delivers on that promise. I just have no words to describe how awful this is from start to finish.

I was not familiar with Slipknot. I'm sad that I now am :( I'm not sure what the point of the album is. It starts in maybe the worst way, in that it's high-pitched and ear-bleeding. A good hint of what's to come. I could have gone my whole life without listening to this album, but unfortunately I'm now initiated. I want out.

The album cover and the music are completely in line lol what the hell. I mean I can see how people could get into this but what a ROUGH album to get through. Great drums tho. 2/10

Can't say I'm a fan. Lots of screamy angsty rage induced rubbish. Some of the heavy guitar tones are ok but the drums sound artificial. Nothing to see here onto the next album.

Principally this would be 2 but I don’t know how many more albums there will be in this that I’ll dislike more. I appreciate the additional percussion being used, the aggression and the unique sound distinguishing it from other ”nu-metal”, but it wears off towards the end of the album. Also a lot more extreme than I was expecting. An honorable 1 star

Sometimes I like metal. This is not one of those times. There's just so much screaming and there's such a huge focus on percussion that I really can't pick out much musicality throughout. And I can't stop imagining the lead singer just screaming at concerts in his silly clown mask. Like what? Anyways, not good.
