Reviews (page 7 of 8)

A lot of people enjoy this music. I am not among them.

All hope is gone for meg og dette bandet.

1 Star (2/15)

Including two records by this lot is critical malpractice.

Cannot overstate how awful this was.

not for me give these dudes a snickers

N/A (couldn’t do it - it’s the clowns…)

Very bad

Why are you yelling at me?

Noisy crap

If I could give this negative stars I would

"And don't you fucking judge me". Wait and Bleed is verreweg het meest beluisterde nummer.

Garbage 0 stars

You've cat to be kitten me right meow. How can there possibly be more than twenty albums that are lower rated than this?

Unlistenable. This is a sub 1-star album.

Eyeless is the standout on this album. It would be vastly improved without Corey’s attempts at rapping. I feel like a lot of this record’s popularity was due to hype and marketing. A lot of the actual music is not particularly intriguing or unique within the genre, especially lyrically. After listening to this album twice I checked out some of their other releases and can say it’s a relief they got away from overt hip hop influence and went into groove metal. I can see why this is on here since it’s the album that they blew up with, but they have much better records. I’d rate this higher if it were shorter; would have been better as an EP.

Stop freaking screaming!!

Needs more snare

For an album so loud, fast, and stuffed full of sound, it's surprisingly bland.

Nu-metal plus dog growling. Yeesh. Dreadful

I admire the way the play, but I seriously didn’t liked it

Not my style

Absolute trash. I’m convinced that this is included only to give a marker on what shitty music sounds like and ultimately gives the proper perspective to the rest of the albums on this list.

Yeah I gave it a listen for the sake of this list, and I understand why it's on the list due to cultural impact amongst a very specific part of the world's population (no judgement though). But yeah the vocals are just unbearable, drums do seem pretty wild but it's just too heavy for me. Impossible listen.

I gave up on it.

Not for me

new metal, 1999 -> 1

Seems very marmite Awful...like a therapy session in Hell. Suprised they didn't fall into a black hole of their own negativity

There were maybe a couple of ok tracks on it, and the drumming was good. But otherwise I just could not get this album at all.

I don't like Slipknot, I'm never going to like Slipknot

Really not for me. There's plenty of relentless, scream-y, and even outright edgy music I love, but something about this just really set my teeth on edge. I enjoyed some of the riffs and other moments, but the album at just 50-ish minutes of music felt like it was about 3 hours long, so I had to deduct a star for that alone.

I tried my best to get as far as I could with this one, got nine songs in, and couldn’t take it anymore. 49 minutes of the same “I’m 14 and this is edgy” screaming bullshit over and over. Ugh

I now know what the guys who asked me out in high school were listening to when they punched a hole in the door after I said no, and it reaffirms my decision to move away from home.

Absolute hot garbage start to finish. The soundtrack to drywall punching, cookie monster pajama pants wearing, catalytic converter theiving, high school dropouts with a chip on their shoulder the size of Wisconsin

Guttural screaming over fast yet uninteresting guitar and drums. Lots of aggression, but no melody and no soul. Listening to this literally gave me a headache.

Good drums.

To paraphrase Roger Murtaugh: I'm too old for this crap. I listened to 4 tracks. After the beginning of each one annoyed me, I fast-forwarded a little further to hear the same shit. 1/5

I pegged this as angsty teenage boy music but then my teenage son walked in and called it rubbish.

Juvenile.

Heavy Metal, nix für mich

• 1/5 • Some catchy riffs and song structure left drowning in overwrought noise

Few albums have defeated me, this is one. Tried to like it to bond with my son.

I'm struggling to see the point of Slipknot and another hour of this vapid shit hasn't helped to further my understanding at all. Come on boys, you're hardly teenagers, isn't it time you grew up?

I just can't.

Horrible stuff. Wish I could give it zero stars.

Please stop screaming!!

I'm not listening to this garbage.

anyone who gives literal screaming anything higher than a 2 is mentally ill

My first DNF, I think. Hated this

Death metal. Not a fan

While I'm not inherently against heavier music, it's certainly not my fave and slipknot haven't really done much to win my over.

It's like jazz without the horns.

I see we are trading one form of evil for another.

No. Make it stop. I would have stopped it earlier if Tim hadn't made me listen.

I think how some people won't listen to an artist's work because of who they are, I find it hard to listen to bands that were beloved by the bullies and homophobes of Peebles High School in the early 2000s. Surely we can't share the same joys? By all podcast accounts, the singer seems like a decent guy though. Impressive drums in the three songs I managed too. Would have maybe given it more time if it didn't come straight after two other all-male, all-white hard rock groups in fancy dress. Spent most of today listening to Gracie Abrams instead. Right choice.

Terrible Noise

I like to be challenged , but not this way

Slipknot’s self-titled debut album is a relentless barrage of aggression and noise that, for many listeners, may feel more exhausting than exhilarating. The band clearly set out to make a statement with their chaotic blend of metal, but for me, it often crosses the line into simply being unpleasant. There are, to be fair, occasional flashes of strong musicianship—particularly in the guitar work and drumming—which manage to break through the overwhelming wall of shouting and distortion. However, these moments are fleeting and buried under layers of abrasive sound. Favourite Track: Me Inside – It stood out slightly more than the others, though it still suffers from the same over-the-top vocal delivery. Least Favourite: Honestly, nearly every other track blends into a relentless blur. Album Artwork: The cover does little to inspire interest—visually chaotic and unappealing, much like the music itself.

Kan inte begripa att något sånt här kan hamna på listan. Rammstein är tusen gånger bättre och de har minsann ingen skiva med.

too heavy

I’m sure this works for somebody. 1/5

Nothing original here

...this was really unpleasant to listen to. Glad I tried it but I couldn't finish. It was actively stressing me out.

I just can’t. I won’t. 2.4/10

Absolutely awful album - can’t give it a zero or I would

I think this is just maybe not for me. It's just like angry for the sake of being angry. But it isn't like other angry bands I've listened to like Bring Me The Horizon or Chiodos. It's just a little harder, which is fine—just not my favorite. Currently on "Scissors" and it's just too hard for me. It's also a little repetitive, I've noticed, and I wonder if that's the difference for me. I don't like it when things are overly repetitive. I just don't like it LOL. I think I have to finish here. Would give it less than 1 star if I could.

Blech. Mall metal. The soundtrack to "It's not a phase, mom!" I'd give it less than 1 star if I could.

I have never heard something worse in my life. This was the most horrible “music” I’ve ever heard.

Not my thing. This was very difficult for me to make it through.

Welcome to, “Will I Every Achieve Anything in Life,” the one question game where we determine, will you ever achieve anything in life. Here’s your question: Did you enjoy this record, and would you like to hear more from this band? If you answered “yes,” you will never achieve anything in life! Now please restock the candy aisle.

Absolutely not for me!!!!

Look, I like metal as much as the next person, but I really do not like nu-metal. It's the rap and the record scratching that just does not work. Slipknot have some melodic hits like “Before I Forget” which actually are really good but none of those songs are on this album. Instead I was “treated” to shitty nu-metal. Just a bunch of angsty lyrics, shitty scratching and subpar lyrics. The drums were quite cool though and the only good thing I have to say about this record. This did nothing to change my mind about nu-metal and only worsened my image of Slipknot. No best songs, just waited for it to end. 1 star.

best thing about them is their iowa heritage

One of the worst things ever to come out of Iowa

Listened to the first song. I could probably listen to the instrumental track but the vocals are atrocious

Well, this is the 3rd one that has beaten me. Of the 343 albums I have rated, there was a jazz one, that 2hr epic and now this, that I just couldn't bear to listen to all of it. To me it has no musical worth what so ever. But then that has ever been my opinion of thrash. Though Sepultura did make a good job of it. No, to be honest I cannot find a reason for it's inclusion here except to pretend to be all inclusive. But then so far there have been many omissions so far, but I have a long way to go. And a little part of me still lives in hope that a complete genre that is conspicuous for its absence may yet appear, namely NWOBHM. (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal). Anyway, back to the tripe at hand. 1 because three is nothing lower. -5 if I could.

“The album spans several genres” it says on the Album summary. I must have missed that.

It's nothing new, it's not big , it's not clever. Brain dead rubbish for brain dead people.

Lots of shouting. now I have a headache

It’s irresponsible of the studio technicians to sit idly by while someone’s clearly having some sort of medical emergency not five feet away.

I knew a few Slipknot songs from the MTV nu-metal days and know that they're a 9-person band from Iowa so I was curious to hear this one. There is some impressive instrumentation on here (the drums are really good for example) but the lyrics are indecipherable, the production is bad, and like most 90s albums it runs too long. Not for me unfortunately but I'm not gonna yuck anyone's yum if this is their jam.

Slipknot! ‘Fraid not!

Nu metal and this kind of angry and annoyingly aggressive music with lyrics that I don't even understand is not my thing at all. Truly awful, 1 star.

Som ett misslyckat självmordsförsök

Terrible. How does anyone “sing” like that without destroying their vocal chords? The drumming was unbelievable though.

Pretty bad!

I’d be this angry if I grew up in Iowa surrounded by nothing but corn and tornados. There not diversity of things to see or do in that state, just like there’s no diversity of songs in this album. The track listing ebbs and flows from one song that is uptempo overplayed busy drumming, heavy metal guitar riffs, singing and screaming, and sound effects peppered in, to another songs that’s the same, followed by another song of the same. I have always said that it’s easy to hate. It’s a primal emotion that doesn’t require people to think critically. This is hate music. While the talent it requires to play these songs is impressive for sure, the actual songs and the emotion they are meant invoke in the listener are basic, boring, and simple. Hate music is simple to write. Instead, writing a beautiful melody or a love song is much more vulnerable and infinitely harder to do. People should strive to emotionally evolve. There is no evolution emotionally here. Lastly, I do laugh at the jokes along the lines of how this album is the perfect embodiment of a 14 year old boy who was asked by his step mom to take out the trash for the 5th time and he had to quit his online Call of Duty match. He’s so pissed, especially after taking the trash out and he goes to the kitchen and realizes he drank the last of the Mountain Dew Baja Blast and ate the last of the Flaming Hot Cheetos.

I mean, they can play, I suppose, but oh dear, my ears. I really can't cope with drums at this speed and the incessant roaring and shouting. It's probably a three out of ten, because I don't like completely dissing bands just because I don't like it, but there's really no point rounding up to two out of five - I hated It.

2 slipknot albums? Sorry, this is shit.

Music made for middle school kids to piss off their parents.

First of all, you can't here anything that the singer is saying. Secondly, even if you could, it's all predictable, formulaic, nihilist garbage. All the songs sound the same, there's one catchy track that manages to kill the mood at the same time, and they're trying so hard to be edgy that it makes them flop. Great drumming. Other than that, slipknot and nu-metal in general are trash.

I listened to about half of this, but couldn’t get through anymore. I really can’t stand it.

I have better things to do than listen to two Slipknot albums in one month

Terrible! Very loud and not musical!

Not sure which is the more depressing: that people make music like this or that people want to listen to it. What a waste of time. That they dress up just reveals the inherent silliness of the entire exercise.

well. that was slipknot

Pre-listening thoughts: mom come pick me up I’m scared Post/during listening thoughts: god I am such a pop girl born after this time because I literally dislike so much music from this era besides britpop, hip hop, singer songwriters, and like boy bands/girl groups. Grunge, alt/indie rock (specifically from the 90s), and metal are such weak spots in terms of what music I like/how much my horizons are broadened. I had a coworker who would play metal/grunge all day for eight hours and she was fired a few months ago but man I still can’t listen to those genres and enjoy them just because of how much I had to listen to them then. I do realize I haven’t said anything about this album in specific. Just stuff about the genre. Well, this album is dogshit. Loud! I have never felt like I needed earplugs while listening to something through my headphones. Until now. 1/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no!!!!!!!!!! Fav tracks: it would be a miracle if Slipknot could make something I enjoyed Least fav tracks: dude if you haven’t gotten to this album yet I’m praying for you. So much better metal out there than this (and I HATE metal!). Like this is REALLY bad. It’s like someone took rage against the machine and made their lyrics have the emotional maturity of a fifth grader, and when they’re not awkwardly speak rapping over obnoxiously loud instrumentals, they’re yelling in hopes it makes their immature point come across more. TLDR it’s ALL my least fav track

I gave them a couple flowers for their other album but no, hell no. Who actually likes this and what is wrong with them?

Should not be on this list.

Amazing how many people have listened to this on Spotify. It's pretty talentless apart from the drumming as others have noted. Very generic and devoid of imagination.

I really hope there are only 2 slipnot records on this list. Hated every second of it. Granted I don’t like this style of music, but I hear even people who do kinda shit on slipnot. Just a painful hour to get through

I'm a metal fan. I've enjoy a lot of heavier songs, volumn, dark lyrics, screaming etc. I just didn't really get on with this. I remember thinking Slipknot were gimmicky when they first made it big when I was younger. I'd not listened to them before and was at pains to try and come into this with an open mind but honestly, this was a struggle. The production sound was fine and there were some decent hooks but not many and the songs didn't have much more than that. What I caught of the lyrics wasn't anything to write home about.

I don’t deny their place in musical history but I just cannot get on board with this type of music.

Shouting and screaming over noise. No thanks.

Listening to heavy metal makes me anxious and on the verge of having a panic attack. So. much. screaming. At one point though, I burst out laughing at the sheer absurdity of the lyrics and the screaming, so maybe not too traumatizing.

And here's Brick Tamlin with your official review: LOUD NOISES!!! Now over to Charles Barkley for his thoughts: Turrible. Thanks, Chuck. Turn this shit off. 0/5

I don't want to be sick sic*

This is the 37th album I’m rating. I’ve been meaning to listen to this for a really long time now. Now is time. Adding to my Playlist - Nothing. Not Adding to my Playlist - 742617000027, (sic), Eyeless, Wait and Bleed, Surfacing, Spit It Out, Tattered & Torn, Frail Limb Nursery, Purity, Liberate, Prosthetics, No Life, Diluted, Only One, and Scissors. All in all I liked 0/15 songs. This really wasn’t that good. It wasn’t the worst thing in the world but most things are better than this. As boring as nu metal can be.

Screamo is not for me.

not my bag

Nope can’t listen 1*

Absolute shit, I don’t get it

I’m afraid to say I really can’t get on board with this type of music ;( maybe it is good for what it is, but this one is not for me, sorry slipknot

holy lone sigma wolf. I'm gonna off myself I took my airpods out during a lab and for some reason it started blasting out my phone at full volume and now everyone thinks I'm a weirdo. Me personally I can't be dealing with heavy metal this is not my genre holy screaming and nonsense. MOTHERRRRR FUCKKERRRRR ahh song like ayo chill the tf out yo.

I listened to the first 7 tracks. It's not my thing. I can see how it could be someone's hing though. Only a 1 for me though.

Not for me 1/5

There’s a second Slipknot album in this list?!

all i know is that i’m not listening to 1hr 18 minutes of this album, any remixes and demos are not getting listened to. i’m hoping i like it though. so far i don’t lol. i’m on like the 4th or 5th song and i’m waiting to like it i’ll be so honest. i couldn’t finish this, it was giving me anxiety walking around the shop and i’m certainly not listening to it at home, i had like 3 more songs left, i’m quite confident i wouldn’t have liked them either. i would say there’s a lot of talent and some interesting voice talking techniques or what not, but it’s not for me unfortunately.

No thanks. A little too heavy for me, the instrumentation I can somewhat appreciate but the vocal style is just too hard. 1.5 stars

This type of music is not my thing. That's been well established at this point of my album journey. That said, earlier this summer I went to a music festival in Richmond and one night somehow ended up at a show in this genre in the side room of some burrito place with like 20 people in attendance. I felt wildly out of place, and probably lost years of hearing from the noise level. It still wasn't really my thing, but I can kind of see how the in person experience can be critical for this. I feel like I don't have enough anger in my life to need this outlet, but I can see how it could be an outlet. I also respect people showing up for local bands, and this genre seems to have a much more small and local flair to it than others. I like that. That said, this is not for me (especially the studio version). I expected it to not be for me, and I was right. Very little redeeming qualities for this one. I'm sure they're talented and all, but it's harsh and loud and not for me. I was going to listen to it with my morning coffee, but decided to push it back to my afternoon workout. That was definitely the right call. The best part of this album was that it's very long and I didn't want to listen to it outside of the gym, so I stayed in the gym longer than I normally do. So good for my health, bad for my ears. Favorite song: Wait and Bleed Other: Purity 1/7/25

Didn't listen to the entirety and I feel like that's a good thing

not judging! I checked them out yrs ago because I'd heard of the insane rotating drum kit/upside down drumming sesh.. no dice minus 100 stars is my vote. How this is music for anyone is baffling. I gave it a shot - which lasted exactly 12 seconds before turning it off. The horror! The sound they create is so disturbing and so unpleasant.. if I ever have the misfortune of hearing this again it will be too soon.

If you’re 14 and hate your stepdad, this may be the album for you. The lyrics are meant for angsty teenagers. But I'm neither angsty or a teenager. I will never been listening to this again.

I just can’t do that heavy metal stuff and screaming stuff. No thanks.

Nope, hated this one. I guess I just can't relate to the angsty teenage boy anger. Idk.

Perfect for Christmas with loads of hidden melodies and glad tidings. Or did I put the wrong album on.

I think the opening sample is saying "I think its shit" which kinda sums up my view of the album.

Utter dreck.

I gave All Hope Is Gone a 2 and this one is worse. Mr. Dimery, please, one of these albums is enough.

These guys are exactly how they present themselves on the album cover…fucking clowns.

Bounced off this hard. Just not my thing I think. Felt all very samey, hard to pick up particular riffs or lyrics. Maybe if I knew more about guitar I'd be more compelled.

Yeah I made it through track 4 before I said hell no. This era of metal to me was never my thing. It just grated on my nerves until I said “Fuck This!” and hit the stop button, and went to listen to some vinyl instead.

Zu viel Geschrei und Krach 1/5

Starting off really poorly. Horror movie cosplay meets NuMetal. Honestly this isn't the worst thing I've heard. I don't like the yelling vocals or the needless record scratching. Hard to know when one screaming NuMetal song ends and the next one begins. Actually, the yelling is better than the singing or Fred-Durst-talking in the songs. These songs are getting worse, Wait and Bleed and Surfacing manage to be very different than each other but equally bad. Tattered & Torn combines the annoying NuMetal talk, yelling, stupid turntable sounds and an annoying, repetitive what I assume is guitar sound but sounds like a creepy sci-fi klaxon. It's hard to listen to fifty minutes of yelling. Scissors incorporates some Einstürzende Neubauten pipe banging which is always a great additional to music. The record scratching feels like they had one friend with no musical talent but always got the best drugs so they had to find something for him to do in the band. Or maybe he was the one with all the clown masks. The lead singer sounds like he's trying to channel Trent Reznor....unsuccessfully. Yes, as Eric Cartman once said, "Fuck, fuckety, fuck, fuck!"

I might be sick after this album, beause its an hour I won't get back. Brief moments on Spit It Out, but then it went weird. Tattered & Torn, had a sort of interesting dissonance but again it went too far. So beyond the loud noise and screaming, its so repetitive. They just scream the same lines over and over. There is just so much anger and hate in this album, that it feels like a little bit on my inside dies, when I think there are people this angry out there.

This immediately made me want to turn it off. But nevertheless, I persisted. It's violent and ridiculous and I cannot relate to this level of anger and rage. Me no likey.

Not my cup of tea

Ziopera che merda

who is slipknot

Wow, in the span of nine days, I’ve reviewed Marilyn Manson, Kid Rock, and now Slipknot. Go big, or go home, I guess. I’ve never listened to Slipknot before, but I’m well aware of who they are, especially from a visual standpoint. I’m not expecting to enjoy this very much, but Marilyn Manson surprised me, so there’s always a chance! Well, unfortunately, my prediction was right, and I really didn’t like this album. My reviews are usually a little longer than most peoples’, but I think I can keep this one short and sweet. Every song pretty much sounded the same to me, and it all sounded like a bunch of angry shouting, drowned out by guitars and the occasional turntable or other electronic element. The drumming was really good, but that’s about all this album had to offer in my opinion. I understand the cultural significance of Slipknot, but this wasn’t enjoyable at all.

Completely terrible and abhorrent album. No top 3 for this as I found its entirety to be insufferable and whiny with no silver linings anywhere.

I was to harsh on other albums. I gave some generic 80's pop album a 1, but I would rather listen to generic 80's pop for the rest of my life than listen to a slipknot 'song' one more time

Did not enjoy this at all

The one blessing about this album is that the songs are short. This album is as horrible as I remember it. Unless I've given up all hope of living and have fully entered the end times of apocalypse, there's just no moment where I would want this. It's like a soundtrack for insanity, death and destruction.

I'm pretty sure this one of those albums used to torture prisoners in Abu Ghraib.

Slipknot's self-titled debut has less of Corey Taylor actually singing than their follow-up, "All Hope is Gone." This one is almost all screaming and growling. The only redeeming thing on the entire album was the drum and bass intro on "Eyeless" - that could actually be an interesting fusion of genres. If we begrudgingly accept a Slipknot album remain on the list, it shouldn't have been this one.

Nu metal is just terrible. To quote one of the very few lyrics I could actually discern through the general growling, "fuck you all."

I recognize the individual talents here. I just feel like they used their talents to do the devils work. Just kidding, but I do hate the music. #sorrynotsorry

Absolutely not, instant 0

Slip not for me.

I admit. I got halfway through and judged at that point. Life's too short for this crap.

Nope. Absolutely not.

Did not enjoy.

Dios. 2/10

Nicht meins

I can't with the nu-metal. Tried to be open minded, but I don't think I'm angry enough at the world for this.

I would rate this 1.5 if I could, not really my style

I know Slipknot is very popular, but I don’t get it. It’s just screaming over loud instruments. It kinda makes me laugh that people out of middle school listen to this.

I sometimes like the instrumental part of metal songs, but I just can't get on board with this style of vocals. The lyrics are also edgy teenager shit

I think I would enjoy this album if I were listening while cutting up my neighbors with a chainsaw. But since I'm in a relatively sound state of mind and would never do something so sinister, I can't think of any scenario I would enjoy listening to this again. Thought the drummer was great! All I have at the moment, besides a headache.

Like a wind turbine, I'm a huge metal fan, but I didn't enjoy this at all

Just gonna skip this one.

One or two tracks were tolerable, the rest were like nails down a blackboard. I at least gave it a chance but it’s really not my taste. 1*

OK, so first thing - This is not a good album. Its weird that there are more than one slipknot albums on this list, cause the other one isnt good either. But, from the future of 2024, this album is prophetic. You can hear how the people listening to this are getting dumber and more angry, and will eventually try to tear it all down in epic fashion in their stupidity. I can only hope that the people listening to the albums of the 2020s will be judged in 30 more years as climbing out of the mess that the 1990s made of the world. And that there will still be people with the ability to look back and judge in 30 more years. Anyway, this is a bad album. 1/5

These boys are angry... raaa!

I don’t know enough about this genre to say how innovative, creative, or influential this work is, although I can somewhat relate to the “fuckity fuckity fuck fuck”-ness of some parts. But overall I don’t find it interesting and am sad-mad for having to spend time with it.

Yah, no. Not for me. Great drums but I prefer my music not be to someone yelling obscenities at me.

Absolutely not

So this is Slipknot, hmm… The music itself isn’t bad, I generally like fast aggressive stuff, but not a huge fan of the vocals/lyrical content. Mainly though, I can’t take a bunch of dudes in scary clown costumes seriously.

No metal band needs a DJ. No metal singer needs to rap. That’s where Lars got his St Anger snare drum? A pox on both bands for that one! Nu-Metal? Nu Thank you, I’ll pass.

I actively hate this music. Listening was literally torture. Does the drummer have like 10 bass pedals?

Terrible, terrible, terrible

I tried

Sometimes you get one of these albums where it quickly becomes very clear, I did not need to hear this before I die.

1+ Ei.

Not bad for the genre I think. Hate the genre.

Is your entire personality tiktok trends? Have you never had an original thought? Have you never found an artist on your own? Do you want to listen to metal but dont feel like listening to any actual good music???? The. This is for you!

Just horrible

Butt rock. Reminds me of the “tough” bands people used to listen to in high school.

I knew what this album would probably be like, and yet I was still positive about it... I thought that if I gave it another chance now, after having tried listening to Slipknot 15 years ago, things would be different because I enjoy greater range of music nowadays. Unfortunately, I still see that kind of music as way too intense for no reason, people are just screaming in your ear, it is not really enjoyable. There are some nice guitar bits here and there but not enough to deserve a second star. I like some metal but this is way too much, as I prefer (more relaxed) heavy rock. I think that this kind of music would be enjoyed by a 15-year old who is mad at the world for having to do their chemistry homework, although there are older people who listen to this, but I am not sure what they are mad at.. maybe their neighbour for squeaking with their bed at 4am. Overall though, I am not happy with this, I did not enjoy that it was an hour long, but I lowered the volume a bit, so I could get through the day. I guess it's alright if it's playing in the background quietly.

Consistently nice, hard, driving beats and guitars 🤘 but the screaming voice can be annoying and destroys it a lot for me. One or another track might be ok, but I definitly can´t stand a whole album of this sort of music on every day! 1,5

There's actually some decent singing here, but the vast majority is grunting and then there's rapping. Way too monotone and I got really tired of it at the end of the album. Instrumentally it's like their only scope is being loud. No interesting melody to be found. And then there's the obnoxious sounds on Tattered & Torn...

I was 16 when this came out. I hated it then. I have so many more reasons to hate it now. But also... "Liberate. Bananas." I don't care what they are really saying, it gave me a chuckle.

I only listened to the first half of this album before I had to ear bleach with some Bob Dylan. Favorite songs were 'surfacing' and 'me inside.' 'Me inside' had some 'rapping' that I could agree. There were a few tracks that reminded me of skillet or papa roach that would play on my pandora station. Hopefully that isn't insulting to the fans of this album. If angry and disillusioned youth need to express their anger in society I would much rather them join a gang and steal kias then make this dreadful music. I even skimmed through the rest of it just now to see if there was anything I might want to revisit. This album came out the year I was born and let me tell you, as a baby, I hated this kind of music and revisiting it 25 years later, still not a fan.

I think I understand why this album made the list.It seems there are a bunch that represent a breakthrough, or an archetype, or something to shoot for. Slipknot is the Platonic form of unpleasant noise.

I read a few comments, they made me laugh. Thinking about this music being for adolescents who were suffering through a messy divorce made a lot of sense to me. So much anger, so much effort going into a persona that was veiling the truth, so much image that was pathetic to the masses. White man rap can work occasionally but not here. New metal was a trip....

Oof. That wasn't right.

This is the first time I've listened to a Slipknot album in it's entirety. It didn't change my opinion of them. Musically, they are mix of nu-metal and black metal. Their music isn't great IMO, and could benefit greatly from more dynamism and better song structure. Most songs are just going 100% as loud and fast as they can. The drummer can't resist throwing in fills every chance they get, even when inappropriate. But it's clear they aren't selling music. They sell their image, a character they play. I find the image silly. It's 100% bullshit posturing designed to make them (and their listeners by proxy) feel less insecure about their struggles in life.

Trash.

If I could give 0 stars I would seriously consider that. Maybe the drumming, which is impressive, might elevate this to 1 star.

Made it through a couple of so called songs before the obnoxious repetitive sounds drove me away.

I hated it....and it's a shame cause there are glimpses of great instrumentation and even better vocals. Then the manic screaming happened. Really desperate sensationalism.

No. Hell fucking no

Car crash

I really don’t get it. It’s all noise to me.

A wall of sound with the occasional scream. Important to the metal genre, but not for us.

hated it

please stop shouting at me

I didn’t like this at all.

Balloon knot 🍩

Das ideale Album wenn man die Eltern terrorisieren möchte. Und die Nachbarn. Grunz.

I'm not really a fan of this one. Some heavy metal is pretty good, and this had a couple decent songs, but I didn't care for most of it.

Wow yeah, not my jam at all. I think this needed the hook of nostalgia, because I struggled through it and I'm just so so glad it's over now.

Impressive musicality, but too angry for me.

As bad as I thought it would be.

Oh boy, this is a tough one. Personally I hate it. I don’t know how you listen to this without feeling anxious and angry. I know some people love them, but I just don’t have space for this type of music at all. I like heavy music, but this has all the nuance of a steamroller but without the reward of that fresh asphalt smell.

second slipknot album in a week and my opinion hasn't changed much. i think as a baseline, i appreciate the instrumentation, in particularly the drumming. the guitars are played well too. i just really cannot get past the vocals, and really the lyrics. it really does not resonate with me at all. i've had my fair share of angst in my life, but it's never manifested like *this* so this is pretty unrelatable for me. i have listened to and listen to a lot of musicians with non-standard voices and that doesn't bother me, but for some reason the growling never lands for me. and what makes it all worse for me is this album is an hour long! i could probably stomach this a bit better if they knocked a handful of songs off, but man this thing sort of went on for a while, huh? oh well, i gave it another shot. just not for me.

No pude eschcurlo

i'm not a big fan of Skipknot, nu metal espicially form the lat 90's

Not for me.

Angst x 100. I can get through about 15 seconds of each song. Hard pass.

Who calls this music?

I tried so hard to like this in any way possible. It's just pure noise.

Metal is just not my thing at all.

I hate this genre. I can't put myself through listening to an entire album.

C'est vraiment pas l'esprit de Nouel

Some good sounds and the the vocals drag it down

Really not my thing at all

The second Slipknot generated by the 1001 generator. Was surprised they even made it to the list once ..but twice, huh? The music is better than a Korn or a Linkin Park or etc, but the whiny in-your-face lyrics and the "singing" is completely ruining the extra star.

Disgusting.

No sé qué pinta esto aquí. Debería estar en los 1001 albumes más horrorosos de la historia. Válida como música de fondo para La Casa de los Horrores.

I’m good - pass!

god awful.

Not for me sorry.

Probably won't come back to this. Low key made a bad morning worse

Yeah...Slipknot just isn't my jam. 1.5/5

Not for me

I tried. Had to shut it off.

I went in with an open mind wanting to like this but it was a bit too heavy for me.

This is not good. The drums were good but that's it.

Not my cup of tea definitely

Wiki notes say the genre is nu metal and the definition of nu metal says it " . . . rarely displays . . . musical technique". I guess I prefer music that actually displays musical technique. The title of the second song had me laughing out loud but I can't bring myself to +1 for that.

No need to shout. I get that they may have anger-management issues, but that doesn't mean I want to be a part of it. Bailed during the second track.

Refused to listen.

Seeing as I'm not a 14-year-old boy there's zero chance I'm listening to this album

Fav: N/A LF: (sic) Yeah idk, not my type of thing A mid 2, I guess

No thank you!

yeah this is exactly what i expected from the slipknot fans i knew in high school. that’s not a good thing

I tried, but I couldn't make it through the first song. The hardest of hard passes.

I wasn't looking forward to this one, but i pushed through. This is so excruciating to listen front to back. I apologize to my ears for the hour wasted on bad music. 2 out of 10

Do not like the screaming singing. I don’t mind some of the faster metal instrumentals. Would not listen again.

Yep, the whole thing is sick. Like their attitude and the weird bleeps/intro's, but have always found this 'aggressive' music quite boring and silly and more for 16 years old kids. Fine if you are 16 but for others: grow up.

The whole thing i think is sick 1

Congratulations #220 on my journey: for a negative point album if I could give negatives…I will settle for a 1. I will shut this off right now. Even in low volume it is horrifying. Off… right now 😳😖

Loud teenage angst combined with some toxic masculinity equals a shit album. Again I harp on this but, this makes the 1001 list but Tool doesn't? I really question the people who contributed to this book. There's good metal out there. (Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Fates Warning, Queensryche just to name a few.) Stuff like this gives metal a bad name.

Neeej Slipsknut, this ain't it. Lyssnade faktiskt igenom hela. Kan inte fatta att jag slösade en timme av min dag på detta. Nu är jag helt utmattad, andfådd, svettig, och vill bara gå ut och lyssna på fågelkvitter och lukta på blommor. Tagga ner lite. Bästa låt: nej

A few precious seconds of the faster shredding are passable thrash background; Gestures at metallic and typographic noise fall utterly short of even that bar. The assault is constant, at least.

Olen eettisesti pöyristynyt.

Alright, nice things only: 1) Corey Taylor is a truly impressive vocalist 2) The frenetic rhythms on display prove both creativity & technical prowess 3) "Eyeless", "Wait and Bleed", "Surfacing", and "Spit it Out" is a consecutive run of songs where I wasn't praying for it to be over. There were 2 lists I made as a teenager, Favourite Bands & Least Favourite Bands. I think Slipknot and Marilyn Manson were neck and neck for the top spot of the 2nd list, but my knowledge of both artists was pretty limited. Also that list included Kanye, T Swift and Rihanna from what I recall, so I could have been wrong about this too! Still not a fan

What’s that with the masks??.. I suppose it is supposed to be cool. I find it ridiculuos.

Is this the one thousandth and first album?

Like bad sex and cold pizza, my enthusiasm for this intensity peaks at about 10 seconds in, drops significantly after 90 seconds, and is completely gone at 3 minutes.

Olen eroperheen lapsi, mutta ei silti toiminut koskaan.

A hard no from me, this isnt even noise it’s just dross. I totally fail to understand how this made it on this list. 1/5 if I could have given it a zero I would have

Didn't listen. Wouldn't listen. I'm not 12, I'm not American, this isn't for me.

No thank you

I didn’t get Slipknot when I got into metal, and I don’t get them now. I hate the percussion and I think their songwriting is pathetic. They wouldn’t know a heavy riff if it bit them in the ass. I don’t like being the guy who hates the mainstreamy stuff- I’ll go to bat for SOAD- but I don’t think there’s anything here for me. Just an annoying hodgepodge of sounds. I’d rate this a get the fuck out of my face.

Alot of the songs sound the same

Absolute cacophony. No enjoyment here.

Genre: "Metal" Review: Possibly the worst full album of a heavy metal band I've had the displeasure of listening to. They're the cheapest imitation of the good ones like Tool, Slayer, Death.. And they think they're actually good. Hah! Rating: 2/10 (for one half-decent track, "Wait and Bleed")

Knot for me.

This was a DNF. The final straw was the "kill me" growl at the start of Tattered & Torn. I like to think I could say something objective about every album but this is way too much for me. There's nothing redeemable about this for me whatsoever

Hard to listen to. Almost all the same.

Nope Nope Nope

I didn’t enjoy my time here. Same seems to go for the dudes who made this album. They’re screaming about wanting to die and that just kinda sucks. I liked the drums but really hated everything else. Sorta just all sounds the same. I really thought the drumming was super sick and was definitely the highlight of the album.

Not my type of music. Painful.

So not my thing. Couldn’t make it past the 3rd song.

I really like good metal, but not too many people have ever accused slipknot of being good. A very repetitive, boring album.

This was a tough listen but I did it. Pretty innovative I suppose, but didn’t vibe with it personally at all.

Garbage. If you put the worst things of the late 90s in a blender, this is what you would get.

I really hate Slipknot. The drums, like the other Slipknot album, are amazing. But everything else is a dumpster fire and I cannot believe that there are two of these albums on this list when one was way, way to many.
