Reviews (page 2 of 14)

I mean, is there anything to say? It’s the Eagles. I didn’t know every song on this album (and I’m not sure I’d listen to all of them), but for me, it can’t get any better.

- Wasted time : excellente. Juste un switch entre l’action du début d’album. - pretty maid all in love : la moins bonne, mais reste une excellent chanson. C’est juste difficile de battre du S+…

With my top album of 1976--it's time for a Fire Joe Morgan/Newman breakdown. "Hotel California:" The show-starter, the classic, the reliable, the marquee, etc. This title track is a classic rock cliche for good reason: it uniquely rocks. "New Kid in Town:" This has grown into my fave Eagles song. It's so lush and has wonderful Beach Boys-esque vocal harmonies at the end. STICK IT TO MY VEINS. "Life in the Fast Lane:" After some sentimentality, a quick pick me up. This song works well for driving, presumably fast. "Wasted Time:" The title is a misnomer: this track rules and has a lot of sentimentality. It builds emotionally and musically. This is one of my favorite Eagles tunes. "Wasted Time (Reprise):" A snippet of the previous song as an instrumental for a let me up. "Victim of Love:" A scorching, lamentful romance rocker. Being broken-hearted and angry never sounded so vindictive (also good). "Pretty Maids All in a Row:" A sorrowful ballad with a good refrain. "Try and Love Again:" Solid advice from an all right song. "The Last Resort:" A mostly slow ballad to leave the album with some solid melancholy.

Perfect album by the Eagles. Could play the album front to back, side to side, left to right if I could!

It's been one of my favorite albums of all times for years, each song is connected to a specific period of my life and the whole album is suitable for every occasion

Great blend of heartbreak and rock

Hotel California by the Eagles is a wonderful album that I really enjoyed. The songs are very soothing and easy to listen to, with beautiful melodies and strong vocals throughout. The album creates a relaxing atmosphere while still featuring memorable tracks like "Hotel California" and "New Kid in Town." Overall, it's a timeless classic that combines great musicianship with a calm, enjoyable sound, making it an album I can listen to again and again

Juste avec Hotel California et Life in the fast lane, on a définitivement un album 5 étoiles. Mais le reste coule aussi très bien et j'ai beaucoup aimé la power ballad Wasted Time). Encore une fois, un délice pour faire de la route

I love this entire album, no matter what the Dude says

Awesome, for some reason I hadn't actually listened to this album in its entirety before, and now I've discovered some great songs

dude en ponerle 5 estrellas pero es realmente muy bueno. wasted time hitazo

もういまさら言うまでもない神アルバム

good one

Its fantastic. Probably their most well put together work from start to front.

I know it's often hated because that's cool to do but come on.

This was a lovely album. Very easy to listen to. It starts incredibly strong and maintains the vibe throughout. They really were (are) incredibly talented musicians

New Kid in town, y Life in the fast lane son muy buenos temas.

9.0/10 Close to a perfect album for me... filled with hits

un pepino

This is the first album on the list that I listened to on my record player. I had heard most of the songs before, but never the whole thing. It's a great experience overall, just listening to anything on a record player. But it's always the best experience when it's a great album, which Hotel California is.

This album has a incredible vibe, u feel like you are driving through the californian desert at dawn

The album sleeve is a piece of art and captures the beauty and faded glory intended. The album is a record that transcends a band and becomes a truelly great piece of Americana One of the greats and that's from someone who doesn't care for the Eagles!

Ok be of their best albums. Great band then adding Joe Walsh!!! Yes….

hermoso álbum 10 de 10 me encanto

life in the fast lane, so. good

Love this album but I should definitely listen to it more, so many gems. 1. Hotel California 2. Wasted Time 3. The Last Resort

Awesome

I mean, come on, it’s the Eagles. Easy 5+ stars.

Excelente. Nostálgico.

Surprised I liked it so much

I don't understand how anyone can't like this album. Dismissing it as bOoMeR music is such a bad take, and I'm a guy who was firmly born this century. Like yeah, the title track is overplayed on classic rock radio stations across the world. Still a goddamn great song. "New Kid in Town" I'd argue is even better. "Life in the Fast Lane" is peak classic driving rock. "Wasted Time" is a really nice ballad. "Pretty Maids All in a Row" is maybe the apex of Joe Walsh's career asides from ""Life's Been Good". "Try and Love Again" is probably the most underrated Eagles song of all-time; it's impossible to dislike Randy Meisner. And the closing track, while probably the weakest, ties the whole album theme of 70's American disillusionment together rather nicely.

Absolutely perfect, any amount of praise of this album is just not enough. Wonderful experience

truly a masterpiece

A masterpiece that sets a high standard for the rest.

loved it!!!!

Yeaa this is my type of music right here, time less rock and soul! Makes your spirit feel happy listening to this album. Try and Love again is an all timer for me, I had to spin that back multiple times. The definition of a five star album on here for me, I could say more about it but I think you get the gist 😂

This is totally different from what I've heard so far in my life. 10/10

1977 I was a senior in high school dating the leading lady in the play. We went to the prom together. Hotel California came on the radio when we were in Doug Huntsman car. Come to find out she wanted to go with him. I wasn’t mad about her being with him but I was mad because it blew my chance with Sherry Williams. Found out she said she wanted to go with me. I still get angry when this song comes on. The album was great and is a good listen even if it reminds you of Terry Hetismeir and her cigarette smoking self. LOL

Amazing

WELCOME TO THE HOTEL CALIFORNIA

I'm listening to this on a summer day, and it feels just right.

A classic 🔥

Love it. Own it.

Hotel California brings this up to a 5 easily. The rest of the album is really good too no wonder it's one of the best selling albums ever.

I can't lie, I'm a sucker for the eagles and the album makes me nostalgic for the deserts of SoCal.

I can truly put this on repeat all day long. Hotel California starts off and transports you to another world. Truly a great song of all time. Then the rest of the album comes through and doesn't hit that same peak, but hits you in different ways. Really strong in execution and a great listen either actively or passively.

I’d like to hate it. But I don’t

282/1089 Hotel California is such a great song, and a cool opener for the album, i’m ready for what’s to come* i was liking Wasted Time anyway but then comes along the reprise?? stunning Pretty Maids really reminds me of Weyes Blood’s album In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow which i love so it’s nice to hear some of the influences on her work Try and Love Again has some really beautiful guitar and harmonies wow this song is kinda hitting me unexpectedly, this is such a bit of me i can see why The Last Resort is the final track and i like the song enough but i think it kinda could’ve been the penultimate one and end on Try and Love Again *or maybe i wasn’t ready lmao imi’m kinda shocked but also not??? like i expected it to be “good” but kinda thought maybe it’d just not be for me. but i really like this one and i feel i can’t give it anything besides 5 stars faves: Try and Love Again, Hotel California, Wasted Time + Reprise 87/100

good listen idk

Album histórico con uno de los mejores temas y solos de la historia, es reconfortante escuchar este tipo de discos, ya que subsisten al día de hoy y prevalecen como los mejores de la música.

OMG WHAT IS MY LUCK I LOVE HOTEL CALIFORNIA. the eagles are one of my top favourite bands of all time and hotel California is one of my detault records so I listen to it all the time. My favs are New Kid In Town, Life In The Fast Lane (ultimate driving song), Try and Love Again and of course Hotel California

Ive already listened to that years ago

lyssnat på den:)

One of the all-time greatest albums of all time. Great band. Not a bad song on the album.

One of the best albums of all time

Great album

Favorite Song: Hotel California

hit after hit :)

wow an album where i actually know some of the songs. iconic 10/10.

Good listening to the album, I think most of plays come from hell freezes over

very sick guitars and catchy songs

waiting for hotel alabama

10/10 Try and Love Again my favorite and new song of this álbum

Para escucharlo tomando un vinito y cocinando pastas a la luz de la vela con la lluvia de fondo. Increíble.

Title track is iconic, but Victim of Love and The Last Resort are peak

Love this

I have always been a big fan of this band, and still am. I bought this album when it came out, when I was a freshman in college…I pretty much wore it out. I don’t think that there’s a bad song on the album. This one is five stars for me.

Classic

Perfecto

Amazing album. Great songs, amazing harmonies.

een album da begint me een vn de beste gitaarsolo's aller tijden kan alleen maar banger zijn

Лучшая песня: Hotel California Худшая: хз Неожиданно понравилось, думал, что кроме Отеля Калифорнии все остальное будет кантри-пургой

I’ve never listened to the whole album before. Pretty good, would definitely fall into “easy listening” in my mind.

discaço absurdo

Rocky, souly, vibey Favs: “Hotel California” and “New Kid in Town”

Bonito álbum

Excellent start to finish

I have this unfortunate habit of listening to an album, absolutely loving it, then not picking it up for years. Yeah, this is one of those albums. I forgot about the album tracks that are so good like Wasted Time and Pretty Maids All In a Row. Everyone knows Hotel California, but that’s only the tip of a very deep iceberg. 5 stars

new kid in town is so fuckin beautiful it's pissing me off

Just a great album. An awesome band at the top of their game. Not much else to say.

sometime around the year 2000 I was sleeping over at my best friend Tyler's house, spending all night talking to girls from school on yahoo messenger until their parents sent them to bed and then, having nothing else to do in the small hours of the night, Tyler played me the song Hotel California. He presented it as if he was bringing a cursed, sinister presence into my life. It was a bit like our stupid little version of playing with a oujia board. Who knows what would have happened in my life if I had done something else that night? There's no way to know and given everything in my life I guess I just have to say thanks and 5 stars to fucking Hotel California

Classic. Didn't realize some of the bangers on this record.

Amazing album, forever classic, Hotel California has to be one of the greatest songs of all time. The production, the lyrics, everything’s amazing, 10/10

The title track Hotel California is an amazing all time classic. It's iconic guitar solo is one of the best ever, and the overall song is an amazing vibe, that can always be whipped out anywhere from campfires to stadiums. The second song new kid in town, while not as catchy or fast, is still a lyrical masterpiece with great instrumentation. Life in the Fast Lane feels like it reaches a bit closer to the band's country rock roots, with some disco elements to it. The entire album is an essentially perfect rock record, with it's six stringed guitars, powerful vocals, and even a full orchestra in the reprise.

A masterpiece! The Last Resort is my favorite Eagles song and Hotel California is in the top 5. New Kid in Town, Life in the Fast Lane, Wasted Time - all great. I’ve always liked the Joe Walsh song Pretty Maids All in a Row as well. 5 stars!

10/10 !! mein altes zimmer :(

This album made me feel about my current episode in life. The voice of the main singer is mesmerising and the guitar soars you up to the clouds. Only negatives is that the album lacks narrative and cohesion

When I was about 15, my dad and I were visiting family in Adelaide. One afternoon he took me on a drive through the hills, on our way to the picturesque town of Hahndorf. We had the radio on, and the DJ - Sheridan Stewart, a name that remains lodged in my memory to this day - was buzzing with excitement because she was soon to play a song by The Eagles that hadn't been aired on that station for years. For at least an hour she built up a strong anticipation for this deep cut 70's track, as though it was a secret she was about to let the whole city in on. Then it finally played. The song was The Last Resort, the closing track of Hotel California, and for 7 minutes and 24 seconds I remained transfixed. My music-hungry teenage mind soaked up every word, every chord, every note of Henley's silky, emotive voice. For this song alone, and for the memory of hearing it for the first time in that small but perfect moment, Hotel California earns my highest score. That's not even counting the eight other masterpieces that make the album what it is.

Loved it

Banger, feels like I'm on a great adventure while tuning into this one. Road tripping is the vibe of the album. Gonna listen again, good Rock at my ears. Its hard to think this album was recorded 50 years from now! "Hotel California" tops the album for sure no doubt, as an opening track, and we also got "new kid in town", "wasted time" and "try and love again". Really loved the vibe and the whole experience

One of my favs, it being on this list is obvious.

i love this album

I mean one of the goats.

So many hits on this album. Hotel California, Life in the Fast Lane, Take it Easy, Witchy Woman. Funk #49. This is an album I listened to growing up. My dad called it traveling music and we would jam it on road trips.

Hotel California is just one of the best albums ever created, and the song of the same name is just one of the best songs ever created. I think this album doesn't have (m)any imperfections, from an objective standpoint. I like it.

A classic

Great album, started listening to The Eagles in high school. Loved them then and appreciate them even more now.

an amazing album from start to finish.

Excellent

Breaking news: woman with American Studies degree loves Americana. In other news: water is wet. I fear I’m going to be in enemy territory here but I really love this album, in no small part thanks to the opening three-track run that has deeply shaped me. Look I get it, you either love or hate Hotel California but I think it does exactly what it needs to do, which is create a creepy atmosphere that really takes hold of 6-year-old Emily, trapped in the car in the wee hours of the morning, en route to Melbourne. It perfectly establishes the exploration of American excess and American decay that is the rest of the album. New Kid in Town hits me right in the chest every single time I hear it. There’s just !something! about the timbre of “Johnny-come-lately / the new kid in town / will she still love you / when you’re not around?” that makes me want to cry. And Life in the Fast Lane is maybe some of the most fun I’ve had with a song. It’s so sexy!!! Brutally handsome? Terminally pretty?? Good in bed!!! I could listen to it on repeat for hours and never get bored. The opening run is enough for me to give this album five stars but I genuinely did enjoy the rest of it, even Wasted Time (Reprise), which really felt like a movie score just snuck in there for the hell of it.

Summer of 1992, fresh out of high school, a friend and I set off on a road trip to Florida. And we played the Eagles over and over. They don’t tend to make my current rotation, but this was a lovely trip back in time with some great music.

Song for song. one of the greatest albums of all time.

A classic rock album. One of the best of all time. A classic rock anthem song with the title track. My favorite track Life in The Fast Lane along with some pretty ans some sad ballads. With the addition of Joe Walsh who brought an edgy and upbeat rock sound with his great guitar playing and some good songwriting.

I came to this thinking that I’d heard the song so many times that I would give this a grudging 4 and then move swiftly on. But the rest of the album was great so it gets 5

Solid album and I’ve been really into the eagles lately anyway yayyy

This is a 5/5 album. Every song feels intentional, well crafted, and fits the California desert vibe. It's an album that really takes you on a journey.

good album!! no strong opinions really but there's a reason it's a classic. if i focus more intently on it during a relisten i'm sure my opinion will change

Listening to this album will not be Wasted Time. It may even feel like the time that you stayed at Hotel California…

Classic dad rock album.

A defining work from the era when the album was one of the key modes of cultural expression. Three mega hits, the arrival of Joe Walsh, departure of Randy Meisner and Don Felder denied the lead vocal on ‘Victim of love’ by the ever more dictatorial Henley. The album’s Grammy nominated success precipitated the band’s ultimate demise. A classic.

OHMYGOD. Every song is a banger. Truly one of the greatest albums ever.

A classic!

Always 5/5, love this album

All of these stars are for the title track. Don Henley is a dick for too many reasons to list.

Most of these stars are for the title track which I love unashamedly.

Enorme classique, tres hétérogène mais globalement balades et instrumental doux (guitare / batterie). Full break entre annees 60 et 70, j’adore la voix

Solid, beautiful harmonies and the first and last song are so so strong. Really enjoyed this record.

locked in

one of my favorite albums of all time! easiest 5 star rating yet.

Great album. Always been a fan of the Eagles. Full of great songs like, ‘ The last resort ’, ‘ Hotel California ‘, and ‘Life in the fast lane’.

Absolutely great album. From the opening track Hotel California with the killer dual guitar solo to The Last Resort, there is not a bad song on this album.

Front-loaded with singles alluding to the price of fame, hedonistic impulses, lasciviousness and lavishness, then stuffed to the brim with some of the most earnest, elegiac soft rock and country ballads of the 20th Century, Eagles’ ’Hotel California’ is one of the tidiest, timeless and terrific albums on this list. The storied title track alone is one of rock music's most recognisable and infamously dissected compositions in history. With equally scenic and cryptic lyrics, mesmerising melody, and singularly nostalgic coda, the band truly delivered a stone-cold classic that is almost mythically unknowable yet feels so crystal-clear and tangible in the right light. The voices of drummer Don Henley, guitarist Glenn Frey, bassist Randy Meisner, and their recent recruit, guitarist Joe Walsh complement each other so well, and they each get a turn in the spotlight on this outing. On the surface, the lead single fronted by Frey, ‘New Kid in Town’, is a warm and wistful country lament fit to slow dance to, but also one that belies a deeper reading on the fleeting nature of fame, with organ and acoustic guitars lending it an extra genial twang. ‘Try and Love Again’, sung by Meisner, also evokes the band’s country roots in a significantly more straight-laced yet hopeful and yearning ballad. ‘Pretty Maids All in a Row’, Walsh’s time to shine, is a relatively short but sweet piano-led tale of lost love and closure, and albeit just as sincere, it is perhaps overshadowed by the similarly mournful and misty-eyed ‘Wasted Time’, a truly soulful croon delivered by Henley that is sure to have inspired many a rockstar to show his softer side. The titling is ironic, for not a second of the almost five-minute runtime was taken for granted in this bluesy soft rock torch song, with every word, chord, and crash perfectly poised and surrendered for the most tender and devastating effect. Through not completely eschewing their country heritage, but instead adopting the most resplendent aspects of blues and rock and roll into their sound, the Eagles turned out one of the most composed yet evocative albums of all time. Often singing in the second person, the band shatters the fourth wall and draws the listener into the most rich and heart-rending tales of wantonness and woe, and rock music as a genre is all the better for having taken this album to heart.

Timeless classics, familiar riffs.

If you hate the eagles, go fuck yourself

Favorite track I’d never heard before: “The Last Resort” Never been fond of “New Kid in Town.”

One of my favorite bands ever and their arguably greatest work. The songs are beautiful yet go down easy. Will listen to this album forever.

SSSQQQUUUAAAAWWWKKK!!!!

I thought this album was great! was a little shocked when I saw the low ratings on here. gotta say I don’t know much about rock as a genre since I don’t listen to it so I couldn’t possibly know “the standard”. the vocal harmonies and instrumentals were, in my opinion, surprising and very well executed (on tracks like victim of love and the strings in the wasted time reprise). I would definitely listen to this album again! -favourite tracks: HOTEL CALIFORNIA and NEW KID IN TOWN

This album is greatness from beginning to end. Melodic, harmonic, raw and just good ole rock and roll with a southern twang and gentleness. Definitely worth a listen from time to time. Victim of love is my personal fav. Trying to imagine all these legendary musicians in a studio collaborating makes me smile

The Dude is wrong. All time classic

oh I know ball now.

Pretty maids all in a row- 10/10 Life in the fast lane - 8/10 The Last Resort - 8/10 New Kid in Town - 9/10 Wasted Time - 9/10 Victim of Love - 7/10 Try and Love Again - 10/10 Wasted Time - 8/10 Hotel California- 8/10

GENUINELY. i listened to this song non-stop the last time i was on maui. i have the best memories of windows down airpods in and being in my own little paradise. the last resort i fucking cried the first time i heard this. WE CAN LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuck. MAN WHAT A CLOSER!!!!! truly no notes for this album like genuinely none. perfect.

An easy 5. Even though I truly want to hate the Eagles. It’s impossible. This album is a fucking landmark of the genre. I love it almost in spite of myself. It’s a classic that everyone should listen to. One of the best selling albums of all time for a reason.

Before Listening: Hotel California is one of my favorite songs. I think I’ve listened to this album, but definitely not recently. After Listening: This album was great! Every song felt unique and different from the last. Of course I knew going in that I loved Hotel California and Life in the Fast Lane, but I was reminded of songs like New Kid in Town with its incredible harmonies! My favorite of the ones I hadn’t heard in a long time was Victim of Love! I also enjoyed the orchestra in Wasted Love (Reprise) and liked Try and Love Again! The Last Resort was a good commentary and overall, the album was solid!

this just solidified my rock obsession. eagles are a voice i haven’t quite heard in my life. hypnotizing vocals compliment the funky and entrancing instrumental. this album is a masterpiece. can’t believe it took me so long to discover them.

One of the best ever

Yesterday's album was Boston's debut. I made some jokes about my age and growing up in the 70's and the concept of Dad Rock. In the case of that album, I commented on my dislike of it then and now. Hotel California, on the other hand, is an album I loved back then. Prior to this release, I didn't really care for their music other than a few of the hit singles-Desperado, Lyin' Eyes to name a couple. But this album got me immediately back then. What I loved most, aside from the fantastic title track, was the second side. It wasn't heavily played, but I thought it had better songs. A few years back a friend asked if I'd go see them in concert. I was apprehensive, mainly due to it being Don Henley and Joe Walsh and other non-Eagles, but I went. They did this album in full and I loved every second of it, especially that amazing back half. And so many people in the arena knew all of the words to those songs, which was very cool. So, as much as I groaned yesterday when the Boston album came up, I smiled today with this. And it was a great listen. Everything I loved about it before I still love about it. And I appreciated that overplayed first side too. These are just great songs and they form a very cohesive concept about California back in the 70's (and likely still). And I stand by the thought that The Last Resort is one of the best closing songs ever.

Perfect album. No notes.

i wanna learn how to play the Hotel California riff on the electric guitar so badlyyyy

Forgot to edit the review but this is quite good and has some big hits. Probably not my favorite Eagles album though.

They don't miss

One of the best albums of all time

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT

fantastic. what a tremendous work of art. although desperado remains their finest, its a true tour de force of what west coast america could achieve. morally reprehensible and absolutely industry sanitised they ruined country music but it remains possibly the greatest rock album ever. for the record HC is the worst song on the album

One of the best

Iconic Eagles. I actually have a different album that is my favorite from them but still this gets 5 stars from me.

Favorite Songs - Hotel California, New Kid in Town, Life in the Fast Lane, Wasted Time, Victim of Love, Pretty Maids All in a Row, Try and Love Again, The Last Resort

If I remember correctly, this album owned the 1970’s. Well deserved.

One of the greatest

“The Last Resort” is the fifth greatest song of all time

This album was perfect. No notes. 10/10.

ABSOLUTE CINEMA.

Last day of the semester, and I get one of my favorite albums! Go me! #albumsky #musicsky

Absolute classic.

If you dont make cumface at 4 minutes & 20 seconds when that guitar solo hits on Hotel California then I'm not sure we can be friends.

Love this album! Fantastic storytelling on the title song and amazing riffs and energy throughout. Easy five stars.

This was the Eagles very best album. There is no doubt as to how it should in turn be rated.

Such a great voice. How did I go decades without hearing this album in full

With this many guitars I can't not give this a 5. Might be a sin if I don't.

feels nostalgic, now I know why it has 30+ millions spotify listeners each month (born 2006)

A really great classic rock album, near perfect from start to finish. Beautiful guitar throughout. I love my old man music haha Standout Songs: Hotel California Life in the Fast Lane Wasted Time Victim of Love Try and Love Again The Last Resort

Masterpiece. This album was Joe Walsh’s first album with the Eagles, and it put them NEXT level when he joined. It’s apparent in this album. The lyrics, the beats, the synchronizing of their voices while singing. This album stands the test of time, day in, and day out.

Hotel California is forever one of my favorite songs. The guitar melodies will forever live in me. Beautiful album thrunthru

Hotel California is a classic - jangly, spangly guitars start us off, and remain pretty prominent throughout, which gives the song a country vibe - the lyrics are maudlin - with the rest of the instrumentation backing it up. New Kid In Town is almost a follow-up; sort of ropey country, cool rock, but enough creative decisions (the toms get a hammering towards the end) that keep it from being dull. Nice to have Frey's vocals on it. Life in the Fast Lane is Beach Boys-esque. Happy and dynamic. I really like Wasted Time, and how miserable it is. The harmonies in the background are great, and it is is very well written. I love a song that builds to moments of quiet - "you can get on with your search, and I can get on with mine" is also nifty songwriting. Victims of Love sounds a lot like The Stooges, but is pretty great. Try and Love Again has a solid chorus. I don't care for Pretty Maids All in a Row. As a last remark, The Last Resort is a perfect classic rock song. Starts slow, loads of cymbals, can clearly understand the concept, has a middle section that is on the quiet side, echo up on the guitars. Bringing the slide guitar in too. Ends with utter wailing from Don Henley. Classics are classics for a reason - I can have an opinion on every track, rather than go, "ah, it's all fine isn't it". Cool album cover. Cool rock.

Awesome

Life in the fast lane + hotel california already known and loved. Excited to listen.

Amazing album which is their best Very iconic

Top tier. I've always loved Eagles!

So many more good songs than just hotel California

Great album

so good!

this album certainly needs no introduction. whenever you're a fan of the oldies or you're just dabbling here and there, you'll instantly recognize the title and the first track that plays. this album is about the american dream, while pleasant, unsurprisingly the subject matter gets a little dark and satirical. it has such a strong theme, and every track just clicks together like a big puzzle, crafted seamlessly. the laid-back sound makes it perfect for vacations and road trips. if you like country, you'll like the album. if you like rock, you'll like it. if you like pop, you'll like it. if i was stuck on a deserted island, and i could only have one album from the 70s on it... i might have to go with this one.

Classic

Not a perfect album but a damn good one.

So nostalgic for me! I love everything about this album from beginning to end!

Easy 5. Had honestly never listened to this album start to finish. Starts out with Hotel California…as expected…but then it’s just hit after hit. What a monster!

One of the cornerstone albums of my childhood, having a listen as an adult reveals why my mom had it on repeat more than a decade after it was released. Really juicy vocals and Don Henley on the drums sends me to a happy place not really found in the lyrics throughout the album. Each song is sort of a cautionary tale; sad but rockin’.

This is such a phenomenal album. I remember in my early years, listening to this album on repeat from start to finish. One of those albums you know the next song before it even starts. I think the next song I learn on the drums should be Hotel California.

I own a version of this album as a CD. I am a fan, and oh so happy to have this on the 1001 list. Listened before? Y Saved to library? Y Saved some tracks? Y Favorite tracks: Hotel California, Victim of Love, Life in the Fast Lane, New Kid in Town ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Loved it! Saved most or all of the tracks.

Man, Hotel California is an awesome song. I also love New Kid in Town and Life in the Fast Lane. Wasted Time is a new one for me. Great orchestration. And the lyrics for The Last Resort? Yeah...oof. Fantastic album overall. The guitars and harmonies. So good. Listened before? N Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): Hotel California, New Kid in Town, Life in the Fast Lane ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: Loved it! Saved most or all of the tracks.

Classic!

I've never been a huge Eagles fan. In fact, I'm sure I've said a few time that I don't think that they've every really grabbed my attention. It's been quite a while since I've listened to this album all of the way through and I mean, what do you want me to say? It's a banged. I loved the guitar riffs and and genuinely enjoyed my time listening to this one.

pretty good

My favourite album

When I'm 50, I'm going to buy a convertible, put the roof down and listen to this album. Songs are great and don't have that "old" taint. There's one song that's kind of mid, but not enough to dink the entire album down.

The Good: We get to spend some time in a hotel! The Bad: Seems we are not safe in that hotel… The Ugly: The stabby with the beast with the knife with the fail with the never leave… I don’t know about the millenials, or even the Gen Z, however, anyone prior to those lost generations knows this song, no matter where they are from. From the opening 12-string strum, to the double tom-tom, to the dark desert highway… Then there are the classic New Kid in Town and Life in the Fast Lane… 1-2-3 That this album lost to Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors only goes to show you what a great music hails from that era! Myself, obviously I know the title song, and several of the other tunes, however, I can’t recall ever having sat down to listen to the album from start to finish… so color me surprised that the album starts off with the title song, the big hit, leading me to think that this could mean a premature ending to the enjoyment. After all, one normally ends with the big hit… Boy was I wrong. What an album. I don’t believe that there was a single time that I felt the urge to hit skip, or walk away, or do anything but sit and listen with utter enjoyment to the fruits of the bands labor. And that closing song… what a closer… So, here’s to one of my new Top -10 albums

The last resort and November rain feel like the same song. Don and Axl tried so hard to write an epic……….. and they were successful. Album fucking rips start to finish. I have reached middle age

Come for the bangers up front, stay for the vocal harmonies and ballads that reflect the tribulations of being an American. Probably a 4.5, but I'll give it the bump

Always been a fan of this album, and particularly this song

It's funny but I don't know why Hotel California is as revered as it is today. There are plenty of other songs on this album(8 to be exact) that rival it. My favourite was the last track, The Last Resort. Wasted Time also had a marvelous string section. Each song felt like a journey, which I very much appreciated.

Man, I love it when I get a great album on a Friday and can really take my time with it. This album was not new to me, having heard it covered to cover many times before. Love them or hate them, there's no denying that the Eagles are extremely talented musicians and their talent is on full display in this album. There are so many hits within these tracks, and songwriting, deep lyrics, and really strong musical chops all come together to make it work. Personal favorites are "Pretty Maids All In a Row," "Wasted Time," " Victim Of Love," and of course the title track.

Love it

Wonderful album. I'm personally surprised that the album starts off with Hotel California. It always sounded like a closing song. That being said, the last song made for a solid closing song. Definitely could enjoy this in most situations.

Very nice, easy to listen to. I enjoyed it! I always hear hotel California and not the rest of them on this album so it was refreshing to hear others from this time.

Hottest take of all time. I like the Eagles

Iconic Album. Beautiful in every way! A constant listen!

Deserved 5-stars just for the intro. "Hotel California" is amazing, with a great flow throughout the entire album.

I liked this rock and roll 🎸 album 💿

Unbelievable album really nice balance, guitars and solos carry a little, but to be expected with the title track being so infamous for the mega solo Think wasted time is a missed opportunity for a solo personally at the end, but a great track nonetheless Love the classic gritty rock tracks of victims of love and life in the fast line New kid in town didn’t grab me as much but still a great track - needs another listen Not huge on closing track personally Vocals are fantastic throughout, voices blend really well.

I love Lebowski, but I don't hate the Eagles. I also don't love them, either. They're very hit-or-miss for me...although I will say I loved the documentary that came out about them a few years ago, I watched that several times. Henley and Frey are assholes and wannabe tough guys which is interesting considering a good portion of their music they put out was soft rock. But this is the album where they get to play some harder rock songs and it's great. The title track is an all-timer and enough has been written about Walsh and Felder's dueling guitars at the end. I can listen to that all day. Henley's voice is fantastic, and it's back in the mix...it's not up front, it gives it that eerie kind of creepy vibe. He's narrating, he's not singing...he's not in the room with you, but he's walking you through the dream...or nightmare and the Eagles would probably want to tell you all about the loss of innocence (something Henley can't shut the fuck up about, no matter what he's talking about in his career). Not even Bono smells his farts as much as Don Henley does. I've listened to this album plenty over the years, mainly to just skip around between Hotel California, Life in the Fast Lane and Victim of Love, while trying to get used to the rest...I don't want to say the rest is filler, but I always wanted the Eagles to rock harder because they did it so damn well when they did. The best thing Henley and Frey ever did was to get Joe Walsh in the band. It's a really good album, even great. The softer songs have grown on me over the years to a point where I don't skip past them anymore. But ultimately I think this is a band where the people in it were much more fascinating than the music they made. And not that it really matters, but top notch artwork, and that pushes the score from a 4 to 5 for me. The photo on the front is so damn creepy, the neon letters in the bottom right with the album title can only come from the late 70s/early 80s. You can look at that album cover and let your mind wander about all the hedonistic shit going on in there.

Of course it’s a 5 star album

# Album Name: Hotel California # Artist: Eagles # Rating: 5/5 # Comments: Some very good songs on this album - Hotel cali / new kid / fast lane / victim of love The guitar work on some of these songs are fantastic. Yeah the songs are a bit cheesy etc at times but they are still very high grade. I've listened to some shite recently on this list and this album is way better in every way. The first few songs on the album are bangers. That first half is strong. The album does take a turn in another direction. Definitely some smooth crooner and dad rock in there. Great album though with one of the most iconic tunes of all time. Low 5 for me # Top Tunes: Hotel cali / new kid / fast lane / victim of love / wasted time # Would I listen to it again? Yes

This has always been a 5 star or A album for me, but will never get the + because of New Kid in Town which I can't stand.

Inescapable. It's probably 3 stars in disguise, but I'm giving it the full 5.

As if I haven’t already listened to it. Whilst it’s not my favourite Eagles album it is very very good because when would the Eagles ever not be good? Eagles is in my opinion the better album but doesn’t mean I don’t thoroughly enjoy this one.

Tout est bon dans cet album selon moi. Au delà du tube évident, il y a une atmosphère un peu mélancolique qui m'a transporté, meme a la 3eme écoute

Some stone cold classics that don't miss a beat

I'm just trying to imagine listening to this for the first time. Six of the eight went on to become big hits, so to have them all on a single album, phew.

Excellent start to finish

I didn't expect this album to be so versatile, to be honest. Low 5.

Great album

Never actually listened to this one start to finish but Jesus Christ… so so so good. Not only does it have a lot of the big name songs but songs like wasted time (& the reprise), pretty maids, try and love again would all be singles on a different album—not to be overshadowed by HC, New kid, and fast lane. Plus the way last resort ends the album is so moving. Insane that this is one album. Love the song arrangement and the way the songs all fit together. 100/5

One of the great rock albums of this time.

What can you say? It’s The Eagles. You either love em, or hate em.

Well known album. But most listened few songs. Now I remembered others

Unquestionably one of the greatest albums of all time. Pure perfection. Pitch, Harmony, lyrically, musicality- we simply don’t, and dare I say can’t, produce music like this anymore.

Great, classic

This album feels like a greatest hits album, fantastic collection of classic rock songs. Eagles make you feel like you're strolling somewhere in a comfortable desert with their smooth songs and gentle guitars

The opening chord! The best guitar solo ever! The orchestral reprise halfway through the album! Predicting the demise of the band as well as American capitalism in the last track! What a great album.

Total 5 star. Iconic album where every track is so good it feels like a greatest hits compilation. They nail the rocking songs as well as the ballads. The title track is so overplayed but that’s what happens when something is that perfect. I love Joe Walsh and the attitude he brings. Last Resort is an all time favorite. The lyrics delivered by Henley especially after he the key change toward the end make me cry every time. I don’t know but that song really gets me.

Great album, better songs than I remember being on it. Great first recommendation too

Great album!

Perfection.

All timer!! 5 *

9/10 Man I love Hotel California, the song. Best chord progression in a rock song? Almost certainly. Guitars everywhere, thuddy bass, great harmonies. Yummy. A load of other great tracks, but are there too many ballads? Is the Last Resort too forced? It feels like it compared to the easy awesomeness of the title track. Does the nostalgia of it making me think of my parents raise it a point? Am I overthinking this? Yes and Yes. Now, can you please stop writing your reviews as a series of questions??? Aaaarrrrgghh!!!

Great album!

A big part of my teenager-hood...with the McD's gang.

This is another album that is top-to-bottom loaded with hits and classic songs you hear all over old fart radio that I listen to. Everyone should have this in their rotation. Of course, the opening (title) track is unrivaled among great Eagles songs, and up there among great classic rock songs in general. What's it about? Drug addiction? Satanic cult? Hippie commune of insanity? Who knows! What I do know is that it's an awesome song that draws you in with it's picking, melody, dynamics shifts, drum and guitar fills, and then absolutely crushes with a massive multi-guitar solo at the end. I saw them in concert a few years ago and it's even better live. Great album - don't miss it!

The Eagles were firing on all cylinders on this one. My dad listened to this album a lot when I was growing up so every song felt familiar and brought some nostalgia which probably boosts this from a 4 to a 5 for me.

5 estrelas

Ok ish eith some really average songs but at the same time some of yhe bewt songs ever

Great representation of 70s rock

This is a win. OK I will even send you a contribution, but just once not a subscription.

My first 5-star rating! I had only ever listened to the iconic title track before, but the entire album is something I'll be listening to often.

Excellent

You know, I've heard all of these songs at one point or another but never listened to the album fully. Has a very nice flow, good classic album, always a fan of the eagles.

Banger! Wasted Time is amazing 5/5

Incredible stuff. Several Eagles hits that I never listed to before, and then of course one of the most well-known songs ever.

Every song is a banger.

Banger album. Glad it was on this list.

i'm giving this a high rating for hotel california (single) alone because it could not have come at a better time. on my way back from the millionth fansign..... depressed..... || close from crashing out and bleeding out..... angstily looking out the window..... sunglasses hiding the tears....... the guitar solo hit and i knew if i died right now i wouldn't feel scorned..... omg now why did i just burst out into a sob at new kid in town cause it sounds like a lil diddy nice white people would listen to 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 juyeon i hope you researched this band so you can tell me if they're klansmen cause i think i support this white band............. update. juyeon says they aren't racist and black people love them. should have known. what's so crazy is every song is so soothing for my soul......... omg this album really did it for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was having a concerning day and feeling off but this album saved me....... i feel lighter

Hidden Bangers. Love it

I really enjoy this album front to back. No skips for me. Great guitar tone, great drumming. I can throw this on and it's always a good time.

If it wasn’t for a 1998 line by the Coens (and an attitude by the two main songwriters) this album would be viewed through a different lens today. Great easy country rock.

Classic. I knew every song.

Holy string section Batman

absolute classic and one of the best albums from an iconic band

Hotel California of Hotel California always is nostalgic to me of listening to it on the 70s rock radio. Victim of Love is also good!! This might be my first 5/5 star album. The previous one (All Mod Cons) probably deserves closer to a 2/5 then a 3/5...

Sometimes the truth can be uncomfortable. And the truth of the matter is that this is probably the top. If not top 5 pop rock albums of all time.

Legendary

First time I heard this album in its entirety... And it doesn't disappoint. For me it's just under 5/5, just because I there is one ballad too many. Don't get me wrong, every ballad is great. This is deservedly an acclaimed album and I can understand why the Eagles are among the best-selling artists of all time.

Iconic album

An all-time classic full of mega-hit songs.

This album sounds like my dad’s 1980s yellow Subaru looked.

Hard to quibble with the greatness on full display here – and right from the start, with four near-perfect songs. The opener remains epic, the folk-rock "Stairway to Heaven," with the matching solos reaching and reaching, unforgettably, and the emphatic drum pounds underscoring the haunting profundity. One responds well to the cynicism, but feels the Eagles maybe shoulda better understood the self-infliction that got them there. "New Kid in Town" is inch perfect, an all-time soft rock song, and slips in a sneaky pathos toward the end. "Life in the Fast Lane" is not one's thing, sonically speaking, but is so skillfully executed that it's hard not to like. "Wasted Time" is richly layered, sad and true. What a song. One forgot how good the back side of the record, is too, especially "Try and Love Again" and "The Last Resort," which is epic (if a touch pedantic). One's always felt like the Eagles were lucky to realize the fame that the Byrds probably deserved and other soft-rock pioneers, but this is so well made that it's hard to argue that it was deserving.

HOTEL CALIFORIA YEAAAAAAHHHHHHH

Listened to this album recently as part of my 2025 resolution to listen to at least one new album per week. Hotel California is my all-time favorite song, there's no way this album was getting anything lower than a 5 lol Previously listened to 3 songs (Hotel California; New Kid in Town; Life in the Fast Lane) Favorite Song: Hotel California

It’s good to fall back into listening to albums again. Listening to greatest hits compilations or picking songs here and there on iTunes just isn’t the same. I’ve gotten to where I haven’t really liked the Eagles that much, but this album reminded me of how much I used to love them. Just great songs, great lyrics, and great musician.

Шикарный альбом, легенды 70х, только за hotel и за new kid in town уже можно 5 звёзд влепить

Probably my second favorite Eagles album. Solid from start to finish.

Absolute perfection

One of my all-time favorites.

🦅 Hotel California is the sound of desert heat hallucinations, lost innocence, and suspiciously soft guitar solos that somehow slap. This album isn’t just famous—it’s a cultural artifact. Every track feels like you’re eavesdropping on a beautiful breakdown in a luxury motel with haunted mirrors. There’s a reason boomers cry when the title track plays—it’s because they remember gas was 65 cents and heartbreak felt romantic. Rating: 4.6/5 Short Review: Smooth, eerie, and heartbreakingly American. Like if Laurel Canyon got ghosted. Favorite Track: “Wasted Time” – It hurts in that “driving at night, post-breakup” kind of way. Consistency With Me: 7.4/10 Why: I’m too angular and caffeinated for this level of soft-rock reflection… but I’d still walk the long hallway in that hotel just to hear the solo again.

Big Lebowski memories Not the Eagles, man

Landmark album for the Eagles, and probably my personal favorite. No misses on this one. Outstanding all around.

muy bien la verdad muy bien

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The original. What can you say

Of course

“my heart soars with the eagles nest” - michael scott that’s how this album makes me feel. just soaring and grooving. the eagles know how to bring it back to the classy old timey rock sound. i just don’t care for hotel california song because it sounds too tropical, overplayed, and is giving pina colada. but everything else is solid so 4.9 stars😛

What a classic. Full of bangers. Easy five.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. Honestly perfect album. Every song is one you want to sing/shout/croon along to. Perfectly explains and demonstrates the Eagles at their greatest.

Very solid

Hotel California y LISTO, no necesitaron más que ese tema para posicionarse en nuestros cerebritos y ...

Отличный альбом, добрый старый рок, атмосферно звучит, многое радует. Искреннее удовольствие

Great album, amazing songs, you can feel the creativity and urgency in a few of the track. What album title is more instantaneously recognizable by people? They know the band and the song associated to it whether they're 80 or 20. The title track has the greatest guitar duel ever, you can see them facing off and trading licks. They don't make songs like this anymore, they just don't. It's a murderer's row with "Hotel", "New Kid In Town", "Life In The Fast Lane" all in a row then followed up by stellar tracks like the heartfelt "Wasted Time", the timeless rocker "Victim Of Love", the lovely "Try And Love Again" (why didn't Randy Meisner sing more songs?!) and the epic "The Last Resort. Even Joe's "Pretty Maids" is a solid song. It's damn near a greatest hits, packed to the gills with good music that has stood the test of time and generational change. Yes on longevity, hits, influence, radio songs, generational music & impact. Hard to get much more royal in the Classic Rock tree than Hotel California. 5 stars without a doubt.

Hotel California // New Kid in Town // Life in the Fast Lane // Wasted Time // Try and Love Again //

I mean, Lebowski joke aside, this was a damn good album, right?

Almost none of these songs are available via Youtube music. Only new kid in town, Pretty maids all in a row and Try and love again. Luckily I know the rest quite well. I love this kind of music and the album. I think Hotel California is slightly overrated, but New kid in town has some beautiful harmonies. Live in the fast lane is a nice listen. All around good songs!

All time star album!!

I like Eagles

Zeitlos großartig!

“What were the seventies in America?” Is a question to which this is one of foundational documents. In this thesis, I shall argue…
