3.5. A little harder alternative then I normally like

I’m not much of a Bob Marley fan. This album may change that.

Vincent and American Pie are great songs. The rest was kind of filler.

Some good songs on this one, but also some throw aways. Doesn’t reach the heights of the Velvet Underground and Nico.

This was a huge album in high school. I never really got into Metallica but this is the album everyone loved (or hated because Metallica “sold out”). A fee good songs like Nothing Else Matters and Unforgiven.

A solid album. My review may be skewing more positive since the last album I listened to was by the Incredible String Band. This was an enjoyable listen.

Solid album

I’m not a fan of the early Who records. I Can See for Miles is a decent tune because you can start to hear some of the anger that later enters The Who’s music. Sunrise is interesting because you can hear part of the opening to Pinball Wizard in the guitar solo.

Decent album. Too much electronics of the late 90s/early 2000s for my taste though.

A really great album, particularly for a debut. A nice easy country rock listen. Some nice guitar work on the last song that shows what eventually is to come for the Eagles

This is the second Belle & Sebastian album I’ve rated as a part of the 1001 albums. This really good (much better than the other) and I may have to go back and listen to all of their albums now.

One of the peak psychedelic albums. Embryonic Journey is amazing. Somebody to Love is probably the best song to come out of San Francisco during that period.

I have never heard if this band before. This is really good and should be with Robyn Hitchcock and Kim Rew. Reminds me a lot of Cheap Trick.

I like the music a lot. However, i don’t really like the vocal style. Feels like island music so it would be something good to listen to while sitting near the ocean while having a Mai Thai

Not as good as Transformer but still solid. I like Lou Reed’s vocals so that helps.

I’m surprised this came out in 1989. This sounds like much older (late 70s or really 80s) rap both lyrically and musically. It was an ok album, kind of generic lyrics.

This was a big album with the cool skater kid crowd. I was not a cool skater kid and I didn’t care much for it then or now after listening to it 25 years later.

Album is ok. Couple tunes I liked.

Cool album. La Grange is not in my top 5 of ZZ Top songs, but the overall album is pretty good.

This is pretty cool. I knew his name just not his music. I like it.

Ray is great. I’m not a fan of country standards though.

I really love this album. Mama Cass had some pipes on her. Go Where You Want to Go is such a great song and shows off Cass.

I didn’t realize so many if his greatest songs were on this one album. Political Science and Sail Away are tremendous. Lonely at the Top and Burn on are also classics. Great album overall.

Decent album. The Rolling Stones song “She’s a Rainbow” sounds a lot like “She Comes in Colors.” This predates the Stones’ song.

Paint it Black is my favorite Stones song. Other than Under My Thumb, this album is pretty mediocre.

I liked Highway Star and Smoke on the Water. Space Truckin’ is an example of why I don’t generally care for live albums. It goes on forever and has a lot of random sonic acrobatics that just isn’t enjoyable if you aren’t at the concert.

Super group comprised of Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, and Eric Clapton. This is a fantastic album. If I recall correctly, Tales of Brave Ullyses was one of the first song to feature a wah-wha pedal.

I bought this album not long after it came out because everyone loved this album. I tried to like it then, but didn't. I tried to like it now, but I still don't.

That first song sounds like it belongs on Ticket to Ride or Rubber Soul with a little Pinball Wizard lick thrown in at the beginning. Interesting album that would have been amazing if it hit two years earlier.

When this album first came out it was a let down after Dr. Dre’s The Chronic (at least to me) and seemed gimmicky. I still just don’t see what everyone else saw/sees in it.

A few fantastic songs, a few good ones, and definitely some filler. Fire & Rain, Country Road, and Sweet Baby James are just beautiful songs. I like Steamroller’s inclusion here as a gritty blues song that cuts against melancholy of F&R and SBJ.
