B.B. King é excelente e esse é um ótimo live album!

Not my favorite

I know it’s called the blues but this was so big and joyful and FUN. Loved the crowd noise. Great way to kick things off.

3- Stars (7/15)

6.6/10

Cool live album

‘Sweet Little Angel’ is a beaut!

Male Aretha Franklin vibes. Serious swagger and soul.

I was ready to give this 1 star cause it's Blues ... but as it turns out, it just cannot be hated. It's basicay the same song played 10 times, but the song is pretty good

I like B.B. King and I wanted to love this album but it was just okay.

Pretty good

It's not my favorite style of blues, but it's a party with BB King, what could be bad?

This was a fun listen. It's a genre I dont know that well so that was fun. I love the 60s black crowds and how into the music they would get. Cool to see where else was going on while the Beatles were dominating the charts. I really enjoyed his voice, and I really enjoyed his crowd interaction. But it all sounds the same after a while.

I actually had a couple of these songs on my Playlist prior to this alblum popping up. Classic Blues. When I am in the mood for the Blues BB is a go to.

This was a really good listen

I guess I'm not a blues fan either. This was fine, but it just didn't excite me and no single song stood out from the others.

good for studying, chill. nothing stood out but njce for background music

Each note...so simple but so precious...so full of soul...like he's picking every string of your poor poor heart...singing to beat of every rain drop that's ever fallen onto your head....the fuckin' King...man... Good live album, but doesn’t deliver the energy I look for in these sorts of things.

Great guitar. Love the gravely voice. Don’t listen if you’re tired, too relaxing.

My first thought was "He sounds so young! I had never considered that BB King was actually ever young". In enjoyed it, it was good

One of the best live albums

Less sad blues and more fun blues live album. Very good sound and pep. I'm not sure I'll ever be a big blues fan but I enjoyed this live performance.

A masterclass in showmanship, but the tracks tend to blend together a bit for me. It’s a solid experience to appreciate once, though it’s not something I’d ever feel the need to listen again. Good? Definitely. For me? Not Really.

Ich sag wie es ist das Album ist nicht nach meinem Geschmack toll ist es schon aber mehr fällt mir jetzt auch nicht dazu ein

Have I listened to this album before? No How familiar am I with this album? I know some of the songs but not in this live setting How do I feel about this artist? Who doesn’t like B.B. King? Favorite song(s)? Everyday I Have the Blues, Please Love Me Overall Thoughts: I’m don’t usually like live albums where you can hear the crowd, but it works with blues and jazz. Always love some good blues guitar, and B.B. was the literal king of it. Solid listen, great flow, super fun album overall.

Funky and fun

Blues. Nice att det var live. Favoritlåt: How blue can you get

Clearly a foundation of the blues. A lot of the melodies feel very familiar

Enjoyable listening. Good background music for just about anything, and definite enjoyable moments.

I’m not a huge blue’s fan, so we’ll see how my opinion changes after listening. Almost done, and even though I don’t mind it, I’m finding myself ready for it to be over.

The king of the blues according to the announcer. Not sure I could argue with that.

A decent enough listen, but I don’t enjoy blues enough to give this more than 3. It’s a good performance(s) given by a great voice, and it being a live album gives a nice flavour of the atmosphere around 1965. But beyond that, didn’t make a huge impression.

Good vibes and good instrumentals, nice crowd atmosphere.

Pretty enjoyable for the most part; I'm not a big blues guy so more than a couple of songs like this will get old fast to me. The live setting/energy does give this a big boost.

Great live Blues album, but not my personal favorite.

还没体会到布鲁斯的魅力

muy cool

this is the blues

It's not that I dislike the blues. I actually quite like blues rock. I just don't feel a lot of connection to the OGs. When I think of the blues, I only think of people like B.B. King because of their influence on acts like the Rolling Stones. Perhaps that's a bit problematic. There are certainly interesting things happening on this album. It just doesn't interest me as much as the British interpretation of blues does.

Legendary artist, nice to hear the background sounds and the interaction with the audience

Ni Bien ni mal, es un buen álbum pero en mi gusto personal lo tuve mas de sonido de fondo, me resultó solo relajante

Great energy, wonderful blues guitar showcase. He's the King for a reason. Favorite track: How Blue Can You Get?

Kinda nice, kinda cute

7/10 - Lively performance but just doesn't strike me.

It was fine. I know it’s supposed to be legendary, but I just don’t like live albums as much. All the songs sounded the same too. It’s original blues, though. So I’ll give it a 3.

This style of music is either a) background/elevator music, or b) music that HAS to be listened to live. It's giving incredible jazz bar vibes, not spotify. Obvz BB has an incredible voice, im just not hearing it in through the intended or even an appropriate medium. I also like the instruments, but I really wanna see them performed live with a porn star martini in my hand in the 1960s!!!!

I like the blues and I like BB King, and I enjoyed this album. I will say that after listening to it, so many of these songs sound SO similar. I would enjoy them more sprinkled in with some other songs as part of a mix. Anyway, I am giving this three stars.

Everything was fine, but nothing stood out, and most of it sounded the same

I’m giving this album an extra star because BB King is a legend and there’s a lot of passion and energy in his performance. I just don’t like the blues. Every single song sounds the same as the one before but with different lyrics. It’s repetitive and the only thing that saved it was BB King’s vocals.

Live At The Regal consists of classic blues tunes that feel more lively with all of the clapping, cheering and the occasional comment you'll hear on certain songs. Listening to live albums is not something I typically do, I always tell myself that I prefer studio albums because I believed the original was always better, so to hear a live album that's over 60 years old and is performed by the legendary B.B. King definitely began to change my view on live albums.

I can see why this is such an important album for blues, but just not my type of music. Nothing really stood out to me.

Not really a big blues guy but had a fun time listening to it while reading a book in my hammock. Great sunny day background music.

Very much not my thing. Very strange panning, either hard left, hard right or center

As they said in the film "Crossroads," "Blues is when a good man feels bad because he's thinking about the woman he once loved." This album follows that thesis roughly halfway; the other half is full of upbeat, I'd even say downright danceable songs. B.B. King is a giant of the genre, no matter how you look at it, and here he shines. It doesn't matter that half the songs here aren't even his, they're so-called "blues standards." What matters is how he performs them for half an hour, practically without a break (remember, this is a recorded concert), how he improvises, and how the band understands these improvisations from the first note. The audience is wild in the background, which adds a bit more energy to the record. A classic of the genre, I can't say the album has stuck in my head, but it was a pleasure to listen to.

Kørt lidt i baggrunden, helt fint. Kommer dog ikke tilbage tror jeg

You can tell they had a good time recording this and the energy is contagious, but it's not amazing.

3.5 rounded down, listen again

non il top genere al momento per me, però il blues ci st

Groovy, yet with a strong undercurrent of energy

Highlights: Everyday I Have The Blues, Help The Poor

Well this was sooo good the crowd the lyrics the quality the emotions

Quite enjoyed this. Great energy and superb guitar playing, but the constant talking/shouting irritated me a bit!

not bad, some bangers are there but definitely not the type of music for everyday listening will be PERFECT for evening smooth vibes, some glamour parties, or red carpets (preparation for them) I liked the audience sounds on the background. pretty unusual and interesting, despite its simplicity 7/10

It was pleasant enough, but a bit like visiting a museum rather than enjoying an album.

I think every song on this album falls into the "women amirite?" category of blues music.

Live blues album, not too special

Not my favourite type of music but this skipped along quite easily. It’s a style and a feeling. At some point though you have to shake off that feeling or you’re gonna be stuck in a vat of despair.

Ja det var väl kuligt. Tbh minns typ inte ens då det var två/ tre dar sedan men torr det var ganska mid?

I enjoy BB, saw him in the late 90's. His guitar tones are unique and his lyrics are sadsack but upbeat. I don't know this record or how it can be classified as his essential work, I think he's had better albums. Maybe this one established him as the king of the blues in 1965? The horns were for the 60's crowd, they don't offer as much to his brand of the blues today. On a few of the tracks they were just window dressing. He plays Lucille so well and it sounds beautiful as he makes her sing, but nothing on this album is groundbreaking as far as BB or the Blues. Great mix of songs. The crowd seemed to be enjoying the show. I had fun listening to it, but by no means is this an album anyone must hear before they die. 3 stars for a solid recording but nothing earth shattering or innovative, no hit songs came from it, maybe it has strong influences though.

Decent, not amazing. King can really play and his voice is good. I found this a bit monotonous though. Just not my thing I guess.

Man this is a wild cohesive album, of course it was all live but the way each song went into the other in a seamless transition; it's just so flawless. Blues is so underrated and the way B.B. King was playing his guitar, letting it sing in some tracks is amazing. It had such sound of despair and yet it made you bounce. Overall great album.

Decent 3,5

I can't say the blues speak to me all that much, but I can appreciate how solid this album is. Not a dull moment to be found. Go off B.B. King and Lucille! Standout: Sweet Little Angel

This is great, but unfortunately it was not as much heat as I felt like I remembered it being.

Jazz/Blues is not my typical style of music. Might be a good album choice for someone who likes this genre.

If you’re even a tiny bit familiar with BB King, you’ll know what you’re in for with this. He’s one of the greats in his field, but I find the blues to be quite repetitive.

"I'd like to tell you a little story now." "Ok." Live albums are not my thing. This funny interaction aside, this one's no different. I just don't enjoy the sound of people screaming or shouting. The music is good, but the rest is too distracting to enjoy it fully.

a bit forgettable but i can't fault it much

I din’t really like the fast “jump blues” style of a lot of these songs, but when he slows things down (such as on How Blue Can You Get and Worry, Worry) it’s great.3.5/5

Because respect, not because I want to listen to it

Not my style

Music great. Lyrics of their time... 3 stars

I love blues. I love BB. However a lot of it in one go actually wasn’t as enjoyable as I thought it would be. But maybe that’s a me thing. Obviously one of the masters of blues guitar.

I really, really, hate "Live" albums - I find the audience noise really distracting and irritating. Having people whistling/screaming/clapping in the background doesn't add to the music for me. The one big thing I can take away from this being a live show though is that all of the talent on display is 100% real, it's not studio polish or autotune, and my god is there talent on display. I love B.B.'s voice, it has real power, and the gravelly tone gives it emotional weight. His guitar solos are also legendary. Fair to say he makes the instrument sing. Although there's clearly talent in the rest of the band, I do think it's slightly unfortunate that none of the other instruments ever really get much of an opportunity to shine, they're mostly plodding along in the background with the odd piano frill. I'd happily listen to more B.B. King, I appreciate the mahoosive amount of talent on display here, but I'm not going to listen to this album (specifically) again.

This is another cute album. I love that it's a live performance - it really shows off his raw talent. Pacing is outstanding; I really enjoyed how the songs flow together and I welcomed listening to him talk between songs. Hearing the screaming fans is endearing as well. Humans truly have always been the same. As much as I had fun listening, this is another forgettable record. "Help the Poor" is one of the only tracks that really stuck with me. The rest of the tracks are cute and fun - I imagine moreso to actually experience live. B.B. King's voice is really nice. Some really good moments. Good guitar solos, of course. I don't really see myself coming back to this album for a whole lot, but I can't deny the quality. This is a time I really wish I had half stars because neither 3 or 4 seem right. I will say 3.5/5 and round down.

Solid blues music, it was fun listening to all the concert dialogue with the audience.

not my kind of music but still nice

This is my first time checking out B.B. King. You can feel the vibe and practically see what it would have been like to be there at that show. I really need to get more into blues in general. I love when artists incorporate blues influences into their music because it adds a raw, gritty feel. With this album, you’re going straight to the source of that raw energy and grit.

Need to finish. But liked what I heard. May change rating later.

Loved this! Probably enhanced by the fact it was a live album, but still a good listen.

It was aight.

B.B. King has just never clicked for me. I'm not giving up, but I seem to like the Blues more when it's a bit more bare bones. Also give me more harmonica. I always have trouble with live albums. This is a great example of the Blues for a list like this.

this put me to sleep 1/9/25

Audience shouting „Yes!!!!!” after some lyrics sent me. I cannot imagine myself doing that even if I resonate with the song tremendously, it’s just weird. And the enormous cheer after he sings something about giving her 7 children but she did not want them or something like that - wild. I’m not really a blues fan, no it doesn’t hit the spot. However, it’s not bad, I can imagine myself chatting with someone in the evening while this is playing quietly.

Blues isn’t really my thing but I can appreciate BB King and what he did for the genre. Plus it was a short enough album and the crowd added energy so it was easy to get through and enjoy.

3/5 fav songs: you upset me baby, woke up this mornin I did enjoy this album, good vibes, however I'm not sure I could listen to it a lot as it's not massively my thing.

lardo marmellata

This was fine. I zoned out after a bit as it wasn't exciting enough. Too crowd-pleasing?

a lot of talking before he starts singing, which is always addressed to the audience, but that might just be because these recordings are live. even his singing is very talk-like, but i LOVE blues, so i'm a big fat sucker for the music and his voice. however, not the most standout album, so i'll be it like a 7/10

3/5 fave song: how blue can you get

Good blues. A fun live performance, King and his band show their stuff and he works the crowd. Now I know where Jimmy Page stole all his licks from.

If you’re going to go for classic blues, then you can’t go far wrong with a bit of BB King. But if you don’t like blues, you’re going to struggle with this

BB King is very good at guitar. He is also a great stage presence. Contrary to the announcement at the beginning of this album, he is only a passable blues singer, and frankly after listening to Aretha so recently it feels almost openly misogynistic to put their talents in the same ballpark. He could play guitar, and he did that, honestly not much else going on worth writing about in this album. It's good guitar blues, that's all.

cool blues

I have never actually listened to a blues album and this one was great!! You can never go wrong with the blues

I think I could listen to this album a million times and still struggle to pick the songs apart. That is, up until the guitar solos kick in. Then there’s plenty of daylight. Judging by the frothy lather of frenzy that BB King had managed to work his audience into on this fateful night, though, we needn’t worry about variety being the spice of life … shredding is. And you know what, I can live with that. Energy never dies, long live the King.

Rating : 3/5 Favorite Track : Help The Poor Comments - - You know I love myself some oldies (even though this isn’t that old), that’s for sure. And LIVE oldies, even better. I just feel like that’s the best way to listen to the genre personally. - B.B. King’s voice is so soulful and damn, can this man tell a story?

I usually don’t like typical blues but this was really hard blues brilliantly delivered and unlike the usual “you doing alright London” call outs in live recording here it feels he is really engaging with his audience.

Liked this

ok B.B I see you

It was alright, I'm not much of a blues fan but it was good.

I quite like this album, never really listened to B.B. King but it was good!

Objectively very good, and I enjoyed listening to it. I used to love old blues like this, and I once saw BB live. Just not sure it really scratches that itch for me these days.

Great!

Really glad I grew up being exposed to B.B. King. While blues isn’t a genre I’m too intrigued in, I am quite a big fan of blues-rock and other genres heavily influenced by it, so I have a lot of respect for it. King’s vocals are absolutely unreal, and the live songs really help amplify the power of his voice. I didn’t love every song but still enjoyed listening to this.

It's not exactly an attention-grabber in the year 2025

So this is the first album, I would like to commit to listening to all of these albums but I do not know how well I can hold myself to that. I listened to this incredibly early in the morning (roughly 5am pacific), in the Eugene airport. I don't really think that influenced my opinion strongly but it is worth noting. This album was recorded in 1964 at the Regal theater in Chicago (the theater was later demolished in '73), which is a venue King had claimed to have performed at many, many times. I value and understand the importance of blues in music today, especially with respect to B.B King, but until this point I hadn't looked into him at all. Blues is a genre I feel could be explored more for me. If I'm honest I do not have a strong opinion on this album, it's still worth listening to again.

Lots of rich sound in this album, I'll have to listen to it again sometime when I can just sit and enjoy it. I typically don't care much for live recordings, but with soul the audience really elevates the music.

Didn't really love the music but I like what this band stands for, whatever that is.

Great live Blues. B.B. King is just That Guy. Very solid performance that’s fun to listen to.

Makes me wish I was alive in the 50s and attended a live jazz club and went dancing!

Good for studying while listenning Good instrumental Not my vibe

B. B. King ripping the guitar here, just quality stuff. Great energy on this live recording, but the cuts between the tracks feel weird and kind of take you out of it being a whole live performance.

i find it funny how the generator chose a blues album as my first of 1001 albums cause i watched sinners today. loved this, felt like studying in a blues bar. my fav was you done lost your good thing now and the opening

I wanted to like the album more than I did, I suppose. The audience noise and patter here make the album hard to listen to over and over…. But “How Blue Can You Get?” and “Woke Up This Morning” are something. 3.5?

standouts: they played the same song 8 times... B.B. King has a great voice and I generally enjoyed it but I found it all blended together. The crowd interactions being included was cool. 3

Geggjað að heyra áhorfendur bregðast við öllum snuddunum á gítarinn og hrífast með söngnum. Hugsanlega gæfi ég þessari plötu fjórar ef ég hlustaði meira á hana en látum þrjár duga núna.

This is as much big band as it is blues. I'd rather more blues.

B.B. King has a nice voice, and as expected, his guitar parts had a ton of feel; as a classical pianist who wants to dive more into bluesier material, the piano parts gave me a lot of inspiration; I liked the jazzy/big band-like feel of his backing band; I liked his interactions with the audience/storytelling between numbers

4/1089 I really only knew of BB and Lucille and the U2 song we was on. Generally, blues are somewhat boring to me but this show and the backing band were tight! He has a great voice as a youngster and the blues licks are nice but I prefer shredders.

It's B.B. and it's great, his relationship with his guitar is outstanding. Great energy and presence, still the blues does not capture me anymore. It tires me a little. Help the Poor stands out.

Jazz upbeat 6/10

listened to so much blues that i can only offer it a 3. It is really personal, with all of the interactions with the creowd, but the music quaity isnt amazing. Still great!

Great live blues album

Screamed my lungs out and fainted. Wow!

It's fine, but B.B. King's songs always sound kind of same-ish to me and there's nothing here that really makes it pop.

I don’t quite get it. In theory, I should be the ideal audience for the blues entries on this list — there aren’t many of them, and so much of the music I love either flows directly from the blues (rock and its cousins) or dresses itself up in blues form (jazz). Add the central role of the electric guitar and a parade of guitar heroes, and you’d think I’d be helpless before it. And yet… not much happens for me. The Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker albums were fine but nothing special (though Hooker’s collaborations album worked better for me). This one, from B.B. King, lands squarely in the “Muddy Waters” category: pleasant enough, but ultimately forgettable. I gave it at least six listens. More even than with Queens of the Stone Age, the music just evaporates the moment it’s over. Not a single song really sticks. If I must name highlights, they’d be “It’s My Own Fault” and “Please Love Me.” Beyond that, the only consistently impressive feature here is B.B. King’s unmistakable guitar tone — genuinely beautiful, though I wish the album showcased it more. The playing itself isn’t especially spectacular, in my view. The audience on this live recording puzzles me as well; at random moments they respond with near-hysteria, though I can’t for the life of me hear what triggered it. I honestly don’t have much more to say. A perfectly decent live blues record that, for me, leaves no lasting trace.

Awesome live album...great to hear this

It was alr ig. All the songs are just 12 bar blues though

If i was there i probably would've liked it

Live albums don’t count. Otherwise it was perfectly listenable but didn’t set a fire under my virtual turntable. As ever, find an entire album of the blues to be a challenge.

Hmmm. Interesting as a time capsule.

Bra drag för blues, men mycket som låter samma

The talent of B.B. King was immense, the album itself is good blues playing and an enjoyable listen, though my recording of it wasn't of great quality due to bad mixing/not enough volume, and it bothered my experience.

Good blues, good energy, he makes the guitar sing. Can't tell the songs apart but who cares?

Riley "Blues Boy" King is a master. Little disappointed this didn't have much of his guitar work on it, and it would have been nice to hear a full show instead of edited down bits of two shows, but still a good listen.

The man can really sing. Absolutely oozes charisma. But blues songs kinda all sound the same to me. I would giver a 5 if I liked that kind of music

I love the blues, and I love B.B., but I’m gonna ding this album for two things, the crowd noise (distracting and loud) and the big-band arrangements, which I rarely like. My favorite blues is usually either the guy-with-a-guitar variety or the trio — something stripped-down so the vocals and guitar get all the shine.

Pretty good blues album but just that and not much more

Old-school blues. Sounds old-fashioned until guitar solos come in, then you can hear the influence on later, harder blues rock. Not much to say, I guess production is decent for a live album from 1965? Best track - Please Love Me, Woke Up This Mornin 3 stars

You'd have to be a bit of a radge not to have some measure of respect and admiration for BB King. His playing is tremendous. That said, the big-band swing thing isn't really a version of 'the blues' that sits well with me. Prefer the more downplayed, introspective moments

Good blues.

The audience’s boisterous reaction surprised me. I liked this.

Fine not great. big band jazz blue

B.B. King is an expert showman during this performance. I like how the songs flow into one another as King introduces the next song. The crowd is going wild and he seems to feed on that. His band is great, but I find myself a bit disappointed with the makeup of the songs. The lead instruments in most spots are the piano and horns, and while they sound great it leaves little room for King's guitar. The guitar interludes are some of the highlights; the other moments sound more like big band or jazz than the blues. It has the pain of blues, and the vocals are great, but it almost feels too big for those emotions to connect.

Deserving of all the praise, although not music I care to listen to.

6/10 - jazz and blues, nice

Good, but not too exciting for me

Fine enough blues album. Doesn't really feel that momentous, groundbreaking, or seminal or anything. Like it's good blues - it's B.B. King. Don't you know you're riding with the king and all that. But the blues just didn't hit like it can on this album.

Listenable.

Could practically feel the cigarette smoke burning my eyes during this one. Still, pure atmosphere

I like this

Great storytelling and performance, but I still struggle with blues. 3.

Sikkert bra, men ikke ein sjanger eg set pris på.

On the roots...

Thought I would like this more than I did. The guitar solos were awesome. The drummer was awesome. I felt like the horns got in the way of this (which is astounding considering I am a horn player.)

Good for a listen Will I listen to again: 2%

Cool live album. Good times for sure. Enjoyable to listen to.

This performance was an incredibly fun listen. I'm not the biggest fan of the blues and do not listen to it. However, I thought that this performance was electric and incredibly entertaining. The energy of the crowd paired with B.B. King's own energy was a great combination to listen to and really upped my enjoyment of the album. The genre is still not for me, so I can't go too high with my rating as I likely won't be revisiting this album in the near future, but it was fun.

Really cool stuff. BB King is the godfather of American blues and if not for him, music as we know it today wouldn’t exist. The branches upon branches of bands, artists, and entire genres are rooted off of music like his which really makes me appreciate it. An enjoyable listen while I was getting my ass kicked in chess, but at least it felt like I was doing so in a dim-lit night club in 1965 New York City.

Can’t go wrong with the King. The way he makes that guitar cry still blows my mind. You can tell that both he and the crowd are really into it and that makes for a fun listen. Makes me wanna go smoke a cigarette inside somewhere with sunglasses on.

"I'd like to tell you a little story now if I may" *from the crowd, one guy* "Okay!" Reliably good blues standards or soon-to-be-standards. Plenty of good banter here, lively crowd, and a good sound. Live albums were still in their infancy here so there's undoubtedly a bit of overdubbing going on to help capture the sound. As with a lot of blues stuff from the era, the actual musicianship on display cemented what modern audiences would think of as the correct or best way to play the blues. That is sort of antithetical to music, live music especially, but I won't begrudge B.B. King and the band for being incredibly good and setting a new bar for people to clear, mimic or ignore. Favorite Tracks: It's My Own Fault, Woke Up This Mornin'

Dated, but BB most certainly was the king of blues. His buttery riffs will live on forever.

Standard blues

Solid 3 stars, a good live album

'The Blues' famously means having feelings of sadness. This is about the most joyous and fun half hour of sadness I've heard in a long time. This boy could PLAY.

consensus is that women are dogs

I just watched Sinners this month and all I was imagining was the night club. Loved hearing the crowd interacting with B. B. King. Favorite song: n/a

Classic but it's really old recording

I enjoyed this album.

day 23: very nice blend of all sorts of founding genres. guitar work is fantastic, vocals are great, backing bang sounds good right through. crowd noises do work as well, adds to the fun environment. don’t think this one speaks too much to me however. songs are def a bit samey and no particular ones shine through. still good!

This record is like Sinatra Live at the Sands for African Americans, which for me makes easily makes it superior. None of the condensing patter and all of the good vibes and energy from a clearly enthusiastic audience. Happy music with the saddest lyrics. It feels like BB’s voice and guitar playing is totally on point, and the band do all they can to support that.

Not usually a fan of live albums or the blues but this one was really well mixed and B.B. obviously knows how to work a crowd

background noise 3/5

Fear I was a bit distracted while listening… but this was solid! The crowd is awesome in the recording, and the guitar playing is obviously spectacular.

Love it, love the crowd interaction, very fun. fav = Worry Worry

Long live the King!

This music is so fun and upbeat I quite enjoy it, would be fun to dance to aswell, and I like it live. It gives good vibes and energy

I can tell hes great at the blues but its pretty boring

Listenable! Not my genre perse

Legendary performances, but the sound is weird. I understand they’re wide recordings, but technically all recordings are recording. It just sounded 10 and empty. But it’s not an indictment on the music itself, but on the actual album.

The Beale Street Blues Boy! 1965 was a different time, because I can't imagine a live album of a blues master/legend only being 35 minutes long today. B.B. is so cemented in my head as an old bluesman that it is strange to hear him performing when he wasn't even 40 years old yet. "How Blue Can You Get?" (not this version) was sampled by Primitive Radio Gods in that one song they had in 1996! Was there a skip/error in the beginning of "You Upset Me Baby" or was that an Apple Music screw-up? This is good but too short.

I enjoy the music but not the lyrics. I get tired of this style very quick. 3/5 for cultural relevance and clearly musical talent.

how much blues is too much blues?

So of its time, incredible live

Very much of its time. No doubts that he was a great player but not entirely my cup of tea

Clearly a classic of its genre although I prefer a little more Rhythm with my Blues.

Pretty rocking! Fun and engaging. King of the Blues!

This was nice, pretty snappy. I like how the blues is all about the blues. They're going to tell you about the blues, all the forms the blues can take.

Man, I hate a live album but I love a short album.

Wow, what an incredible performance. Really enjoyable blues and jazz fusion. This is a 3/5. Now, remove 5 specific women from the audience, this becomes a 4. Remove maybe 20 specific women from the audience, and this is an immediate 5. I just can't take the high pitched screaming. Sorry BB, but you made them go too wild.

It's enjoyable. But a lot of blues just sound the same to me? Love the gruffy voice though. Help the Poor was a nice finisher.

Good solid blues.

Really good if you're into blues. Some of lyrics were funny

Even though several of these songs use the same blues riffs, I still enjoyed it enough. The live aspect usually sucks but I think it works here, highlighting B.B.'s voice and the talent of the band. That being said, the live nature of the performance causes everyone to meander a bit too much. Good but not great.

Don't get me wrong, these songs are great!!! But around the middle they kinda start sounding the same 😭 But the beginning and the end songs are super fun and memorable!! Especially Help The Poor, it has a super fun and dance-y atmosphere, it had me swinging in my chair (more than usual) to the rythm!! I'll probably keep this album in mind in the future! Update: Help The Poor has been stuck on a loop in my mind 😭😂🥹

Fun soul album, not a big fan of live albums though

M-7/10 S-5/10

Great flow but overall not special for me

Cool blues. I enjoyed it. I'm quite surprised that you can make 95% of a record just standard 12 bar blues and it still sounds good and not incredibly samey. It felt formulaic, but I guess that's 12 bar blues. There is a lot of well articulated feeling in there and some beautiful playing. (trying to see past the dated lyrics)

sinners. that is all. 6/10

Great musicians and see why he’s so influential but not much my style

Great blues guitar and enthusiasm from the crowd.

Brian Blessed King only got his shot at the big time thanks to Houmous & Chutney and their Korean Tour in 1952! 3.4 4/10 How Blue Can You Get

BB is a blind spot for me. Sounds great

Mhh, blues, stones aber eher chicago muddy waters chuck berry, bb king sagt mir jetzt nicht soviel... c

Respect.

I have this on vinyl. It’s a good one

Not really my thing, but it was fine.

This helped foster so many listeners

i do love a bit of blues. this is kinda jazzy blues so its a bit more interesting. i like how he introduces the songs while the band keep playing it makes it more cohesive. Worry, Worry was definitely my favourite, loved the monologue about husbands and wives, and the way he sings is heavenly. but it is still only blues so its not perfect.

Better than the one yesterday. Still just good. I like blues but its not something that i would listen to on a daily. I like going to blues concerts and live shows but listening to it on my free time just doesnt scratch my brain. Still BBKings voice is amazing and all the bans plays super super cool. Just not for every day. I will be revisiting this from time to time however

Pretty good blues record.

Favorites: Everyday I Have the Blues, It's My Own Fault, How Blue Can You Get? My thoughts on this are very similar to my thoughts on At Mister Kelly's, however I think I prefer the blues to vocal jazz so I enjoyed this one slightly more. I really feel like the crowd noise on this record helped make it feel more lively, which complimented B.B. King's delivery on many of the songs. Overall, I had fun with this one! 7.5/10

Good ol groivy blues. BB is a master

Pretty good live album and not too long. high 3/5

It’s fine. BB King can sing, but the music is kind of whatever otherwise. This is a hard one to rate - there’s nothing I dislike about it, and nothing I enjoy either.

Great live album! It was good! Nothing insane but enjoyable.

Enjoyable, but not on my list of regular listens. ★★★

Very good blues performance (of course). I prefer his playing to his singing though. As someone said in another review, good to have listened but I won’t come back to it.

Listened while doing finances

veramente bello, 3 stelle e mezzo

Great voice and energy

Please love me captivated me the most. Rest were classic.

This is #day368 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and… what could be bluesier than spinning a blues record on a Monday morning? You bet. B.B. King's influence on electric guitar blues is unmistakable, and the whole affair is pretty entertaining, especially with the crowd interaction and cheering. I guess I'll take the middle ground here: acknowledging the legacy and my own enjoyment, while admitting it sits outside my usual interests. This is a 3 out of 5. Looking forward to #day369.

Well, B.B. King and Lucille live. Forget the lyrics, they are just the means to "get the blues". The performance and the interaction with the audience make this a special record, and I agree that this truly is an album one has to listen to. Still not an album that I would listen to regularly.

First live album of the list, and of all of the blues I've listened to, this certainly is an album of it. I feel like compared to something like Pearl or pretty much anything by Aretha Franklin, this feels fairly basic by comparison. By no means bad, but incredibly middle-of-the-road for me.

This is actually so good, but still a TORTURE to listen to. Blues isn't for me.

Quirky swingly big band with a funkiness of blues. Cool fun but a lil repetitive

Blues live album from Mr King, I respect the pick on the list, but it's alright. It would be a good performance to see live.

I enjoyed this album. It was powerful, soulful, jazzy and bluesy in one.

Despite my general disdain for live albums, I found myself tapping my toes a couple of times.

I really haven’t thought all that much about this since spinning it. A treat of singing and guitar playing, but rather repetitive. Love BBs control of the crowd though it’s so natural

Decent blues. Not sure a live album should really make the cut for this list

If this album weren't live, maybe it wouldn't be as good as it is. Amazing performance by the king himself.

Its fine. Not actively annoying, pretty much typical for this era and live music, slightly misogynistic (also pretty much typical) but i prefer sam cooke’s more 4/7

Ok. Good live presentation overall but lots of talking , so it’s post-stardom unfortunately.

Usually don't like live albums but the audience interaction stuff was fun. Best song: Every Day I Have The Blues Notable(s): Sweet Little Angel

Pretty good

I don't hear or know much about blues, but after hearing this album I should. This was a great listen. Ebjoyed it.

Blues er ikke min favoritt musikk. B.B. King er en av de beste i klassen og kul som bare det, men i lengden blir det litt kjedelig for meg.

Nice but also kind of all the same. Did love the crowd ambience

Not a blues aficionado, but I enjoyed this more than The White Stripes!

Classy. I won't return to it, but it's decent.

Lovely listen!

Good blurs music. I tired of it as it went on, so I guess I prefer John Lee Hooker or Howlin' Wolf.

Listening to B.B. King always reminds me of car rides with my Dad. He had a thing for the Blues, and always had B.B. Kings Sirius XM channel on in his car. Everywhere we went together came with the sound of blues and B.B. Nostalgia trip for sure.

Not typically a huge blues fan but this was a fun listen.

I like the blues, but I lean more towards acoustic blues, folk-blues, and country-blues. I’ll admit, I find post-war Chicago-style blues to be kind of corny, clichéed, and conformist. I’ve never particularly liked BB King, and this album didn’t do anything to change my opinion.

Good album, the depth of appreciation and knowledge of the audience is palpable, the blues was/is a popular music and this album captures that popularity.

rare good live album

Good vibes, but not my style.

It's a nice performance. Well done. Not something I enjoy as much Edit: changing to a 3 on Oct 5 2025, I like jazz a bit more now

Good but not my thing.

Heretical as it is for me to say as a Chicagoan, pure blues has never really been my genre, as much as I can appreciate it as one of the crucial building blocks of modern music. King's technical skill and overwhelming charisma come through in spades on this album, but for me, personally, I struggle with each track seeming sort of same-y, which I often feel when tackling blues-qua-blues.

Sure. Christgau really likes it so I'll pretend I care about the blues more than I do.

Solid live album. Wasn’t a big fan of the quip about hitting women.

I didn’t know much about him. He certainly helped blues and didn’t hurt it because that can happen in certain genres

Meh. This didn't really do it for me. Was really expecting something more from what is touted to be one of the best live albums of all time. There have been others on this list that I enjoyed a lot more.

Usually I’m not a big blues fan but BB is a legend & can understand why-great showman &crowd interaction 3.5

Beautiful sound, but what a dog! Sheesh!

A lot of shrill screaming ruined my enjoyment of this album. Great performance and some good songs

Was some good blues

Fine, but I wouldn’t seek it out to listen to again.

It's an enjoyable record. Live records can be hit or miss. This record, however, was more hit than miss. I liked the performances from the band and B.B. King. I thought there was good emotional delivery in the vocals. I was surprised by the lack of guitar presence in this record, although I loved it when it was there. The saxophone and piano performances were also amazing. I only had a few low points that I noticed. One was sacrificing some of the sound quality because of the live recording. Another was that some of the tracks seemed forgettable. Favourite Track(s): How Blue Can You Get? Worry, Worry Least Favourite Track(s): Help the Poor

Good as background music

the best I’ve heard of this style, just not really my thing. phenomenal guitar playing (obviously). 7/10

Fun album, I have to admit I have sort of a preference for live albums. B.B King is extremely charismatic and there isn't a bad cut here. However, there aren't really any high points on this album either which leaves everything feeling pretty one note

Chill blues album med kiva stämning

It's alright, the crowd very excited

BB being BB

Decent, I doubt I'll go out of my way to listen to it as it's a live album but there's no doubting he was incredibly talented
