Reviews (page 8 of 12)

this list is affecting my opinion that live albums are shit. this one is very good, but then that probably stems form the music being good. the crowd definitely adds to this one. i wouldn't listen to peter fucking frampton anyway so a live version is going to be doubly shit.

our love is nothing but the blues, how blue can you get

Loved the horns. Epic album, as always hats off to B B King. Only misses the last star cause the sexist lyrics got on my nerves.

Fun album

It's B.B. King live in 1964. King of the blues, an all time great performer with bags of charisma. This was never going to be anything less than brilliant. It does not disappoint. Rating: 4/5 Playlist track: Every Day I Have The Blues Date listened: 21/11/22

Like sitting at B.B. King’s bar and grill

BB rips and roars for a good 30 minutes. No complaints here. Probably closer to a 3.5 but I've been TOO HARSH lately

Not a fan of live albums, but this is so good and energetic, also I love B.B. so much that I can’t give it a bad score. One of the best live albums I’ve ever heard. 4/5

BB King's performance in this album is the perfect blues show. It's loud, but intimate - you feel like you're there with the crowd, witnessing greatness perform. You'll have a hard time finding someone who can make their guitar weep like BB, and this album is a wonderful example. He is one of the greatest for a reason. The blues is supposed to be heard through live recordings - nothing cuts quite as deep as hearing King's soulful playing and warm voice live. My favourite off the album: 'You Upset Me Baby'

fun to listen to! good while cleaning the house and waiting to be assigned a task

One of the great bluesmen. Great live tone

BB was bumping. This album sounds like the wildest party since prohibition.

Superb blues album.

Great vocals and quality all round. 5 star listen, but drops a star as not all his own material. Only fair done the same to Johnny Cash.

Quality performance from a master in his prime.

THIS is a good live album.

The absolute style and showmanship that King displays is enough to visualise even through this audio-only album. Damn right he's called the King of Blues at the start.

Great album with an amazing vocal performance and great bass and guitar riffs

It’s B.B. King… not much more I can say

The king.

I thought this was a great album. Good one to put on when company comes over, for eating dinner, etc.

BB King is a great entertainer.

Sure to elevate, alright. One of those shows you’d love to be a fly on the wall for. Great voice & guitar

I love early B.B., especially the live stuff. His band is always great and he has the audience eating out of his hand from minutes one. This is documentation of a professional at work. There are other Bluesmen who are more unique, but there's a reason that B.B. King carried the Blues torch for decades as the genre's popularity ebbed and flowed, and that reason is obvious here. I will also never get tired of the bit at the end of "How Blue Can You Get?" It always makes the audience scream, and it pretty much does the same to me.

Love it, really good work blues songs

Great performer with a great band

Blues classic.

Compelling, entertaining, true to form.

Great blues album. It was really fun to hear this as a live performance as well.

Great and imaginative guitar play, very fun to listen to.

Blues is the type of music you must experience live to fully appreciate the emotion and the "blood and guts" that is weaved into the music. A studio recording is great for listening at home, but if you want to groove to the beat and "feel" the music, a live concert is the ultimate. The next best thing would be a live recording of B.B. king and Live At the Regal is a stellar sounding recording. The performance of B.B. and his band is top notch as well, so this might be as good as it gets.

Note to self- listen to it again with better speakers

Stellar live album! What a voice.

Great album. I tapped my feet and made the "blues" face a few times. Good stuff. It's almost a 5.

Blues is such a perfect form for playing and listening that there’s a whole genre even though it’s fairly limited boundaries of that form (compared with other genres). What makes it so perfect also makes it all same to me. Except for a few like BB King. The boundaries and predictable nature of the form leave brain and heart space to really express while the band can stay really tight without having to think about it so much. And King never abdicates that territory.

I saw a video of B.B.King performing live in his later years and he was clearly a shadow of his former self, but here he's in his prime and wow, what a performer! Loved the voice, the crowd interaction, the crowd noise, the segues between tracks. I could probably take or leave the tunes themselves in studio form, but in a live setting - magic. 3.5 / 4

A very good live production. King sounds so clear and excellent. The Jan’s are obviously here. This is good stuff. Not my typical choice. Nonetheless enjoyable.

So for me. Live albums are a hit or miss. Blues is a hit or miss. This was pretty good, though. I'd put it on while cooking or something.

Although in general, live albums are inferior, this one has some great energy, and it's fun to hear how B.B. King feeds off the audience and vice versa - and how his sounds must have been formed through live performances like this.

It's B.B. King. Can't say I wanna listen to it all the time but it's quite good, of course. A live album may be the best way to listen to this style since the zeitgeist of Jazz at this time was likely public performance in America.

BB King is an undeniable great, and this live album is a major endorsement of his ability to entertain on top of what had already been his established success with recordings. Excellent break from the studio produced offerings, "Live at The Regal" is a beautifully exciting capture of BB King in his element, the fun he is having is near palpable and the envy that this is an experience never to be had again in this life is real.

Geweldige stem en energiek album

Well one of the first blues 'legends' albums I actually enjoyed - it's fun, light, the performance feels warm and welcoming and the songs memorable - 'Help the Poor' is a standout, and the back to back performance of 'Sweet Little Angel' and 'It's my own Fault' is a fun play. I feel relieved I actually liked one of the classic blues albums on offer.

Already had this one. Here's my old review; From the 1970s, blues has become a dirty word. A dull genre that rewards dry technical efficiency and growling to signify passion. I automatically think I don't like blues as a result. This album shows what it can be. The energy, looseness from brilliant musicians (they could be tighter, they choose not to be) and the sheer energy of it is infectious and wonderful. You could draw a line from this album through James Brown, Hendrix, George Clinton, Prince, Outkast to Kendrick Lamar and it all makes sense. Are there occasionally overlong noodly guitar breaks? Of course there are, it's a live blues album. Do the nature of the restrictions of the genre sometimes make the songs sound a bit samey? Of course they do, it's a blues album! But there is a lot to say for a simple thing done well - sometimes a Victoria sponge is the treat you wanted. A great album - when the horns are allowed to fly free and the energy is high it's perfect, even if it does get a little samey at points. The high energy opener, Every Day I Have the Blues, and the Slinky, building closer, Help the Poor are highlights.

60s blues with a little jazzy backdrop.

Amazing blues. This guy can get that guitar singing!

I was lucky to see BB King live a few times near the end of his life. At this point he was quite old and couldn't really play as much as before but he still was able to make his guitar sing when he could. This album is a testament to his amazing blues guitar playing. 4.5/5

Awesome, almost unfair that someone could be such a good singer AND guitarist. Every day I have the blues, worry worry worry, and woke up this morning were the best songs 4 🌟

What a fun, moody live album, really makes you wish you were there for it. There aren't any standout songs for me, but the whole vibe sounds like a great night.

If you're not sure what Blues are this is the album for you.

Nää on aina kivaa vaihtelua päivittäiskuunteluun. Jotain taikaa vanhoissa bluesseteissä on

-Very solid blues album -Lots of great songs that started calm and built to a climactic jam/finish. The songs were not stagnant and boring which I highly appreciate, lots of instruments helped in the jam as well.

Very good, but some of the editing (mostly between tracks) is a bit jarring. 8/10

Blues descarnat i viu com poques vegades he sentit. B.B. Les revissions aquí de temes com 'How Blue Can You Get' o 'Help the Poor' posen els péls de punta

Got into it more as it went on. Not my usual type of music but can appreciate 3.7

Was not hopeful after the Marvin Gaye live album, but this was next level.

p78. 1965. 4 stars Damn I love me some blues :) It doesn't get much better than this. The blueprint for everything Eric Clapton and Peter Green became famous for, only done better. One of the great guitarists on top form. 1 star deducted for it being a live album.

Ah yes. The blues! More of a Chicago blues listener myself but still B.B. King is still a legend. Help The Poor was the standout track here for me. Pretty good!

Full of raw emotion and very powerful singing. Enjoying it quite a bit. Awesome recording, I loved every minute of it!

I’m not a huge blues listener, so all the songs kind of sounded the same to me, but they were all great and I enjoyed listening to them. Really great lyrics

Great atmosphere. Not a big blues guitar fan The band cooks I like the way the music doesn't stop even between songs. The banter between songs can get a little tiresome His singing on Worry Worry is amazing. You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now...might be my favourite. A good listen just not something I would return to 3.75 stars (out of 5)

A good time cover for an album that I assume contains some good time fun. Live is not my preference, especially from a long time ago, but I suppose for some people you make an exception. And after listening, yep, that was fun.

Always love a live album but I feel he didn’t emote the lyrics very well. Like, are you really sad that your baby is gone because you sound really excited, BB? Dripping with confidence. Basic blues, not blown away by any of the solos. Don’t see myself listening to this again.

BB King is a smooth entertainer and this live show proves it. His band is crackin’ with horns and keyboards especially shining. King has a story to tell and plays Lucille, his guitar, with shimmering leads and most importantly restraint. He is not a flashy guitarist but it fills the sound perfectly. How Blue Can You Get? And Woke Up This Mornin’ are standouts for me.

Undeniable master of the blues, incredible singing and playing and really captures the club atmosphere.

Oh, that voice. Good one!

Not bad for a live album

Everyday We're live, when you play in the studio is a thing, when you improvise live, there's another. Blues, this is the first one up to review and the first live album too. What a way to start your weekdays, just woke up on monday morning, make breakfast while listening to the concert. This is the one and only album from B.B. King and probably the unique Blues album, but when I get into the style, it was from another artist that unfortunately doesn't feature in the list (John Mayer and Stevie Ray Vaughan). King leaves a legendary signature way to play the strings and your history in the stages, plus his style for what he always spoke of, is not how blue can you get, but how you feel it. B

Muy buen disco en vivo aunque corto. Blues ejecutado impecablemente.

This was great but I don’t think it’s his best.

He’s the king for a reason

first listen some roarin blues recorded in Chicago

Greatest blues singer in tha wooorrrrlddddd BB King! I love a live album. Feels like I was there! This is a fun one and carries so much energy.

It's pretty hard to stay still while listening to this album. Whether you are jumping up and down to upbeat songs like Every Day I Have the Blues, or you're slowly rocking around your living room with Sweet Little Angel, make sure you have a good stereo system where you can listen to this. Earplugs will just not do.

the lyrics are a little dubiouse, but in overall a great album.

Not what I normally listen to, but it is pretty good stuff. I tend to avoid live performance stuff, would rather just have the music, but not sure if this is an option for this album. That being said, I still enjoyed it!

I feel like I should be drinking and dancing while listening to this. Really enjoyed it, even if its not usually the music I'd choose to listen to.

Superb clear recording. Very listenable and accessible album. Powerful and charming vocal delivery and band leadership. BB never really seemed to vocally or musically change between 60s and 90s! Great guitar playing as always and a terrific sounding band notable piano and brass.

Look no further than this album to understand exactly why B.B. King's is synonymous with the blues. I'm not what you would call a big fan of the blues (just between us girls, I sort of hate the blues - maybe hate is too strong of a word, but it's certainly not one of my go-to genre's), but I absolutely love this album. B.B. King had the misfortune of appearing in the bad Blues Brothers movie, which almost feels like a make-good for not having him in the original 1980 classic. Other than that, my familiarity with the legend was limited to a duet he did with U2 and a sample of his "I've been downhearted baby" line on a song from the 1996 movie "The Cable Guy" by a one-hit wonder of a band called the Primitive Radio God's called, I kid you not, "Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand". Oh the '90's! Plus I seem to recall that prick Eric Clapton trying to associate himself with King whenever it suited his purpose. I apologize to B. B. King. He deserved better from me. I'll make up to him by enjoying this album some more and taking a deeper dive into his catalog. I'll probably never go all in on the blues, but I'll forever be on board with B. B. King. What an absolute joy of an album.

This one was cool! I was impressed with the remaster. Worry Worry was a bit victim-blamey, so I’m taking off a point for that.

If you're into blues, well, this is where it's at. Pretty classic.

great voice, would definitely recommend

Classic and fun, a little bit misogynist.

I love live music. I hate recordings of live music. Still, this was pretty good. The sound quality is junky but BB and his band's energy is great. His storytelling to go from one song to the next was cool. The transition from the two sides was weird, with BB King being introduced again (to much less fanfare) on the first song of side two - they took a break and came back? It lost some of the energy from the first set. Still he ain't the King of the blues for nothing. Great voice, great guitar playing (his band is good too), great stage presence.

The Blues are a hit or miss thing for me. When it’s done right it’s awesome music and takes you along with it in a cathartic way. When it’s not it is just boring and monotonous. B.B. King can certainly do the blues right! I can totally see why this is a primer for other blues musicians to listen to before they go out and play their own version of the blues.

Love his voice and his playing and I enjoyed this, but I think I get a lot more out of seeing video of him play than listening to a recording. Hearing the recording is still really good, but not the same as seeing him. I can only imagine what it was like to actually be there when he played.

Great jazzy album. Classic.

Awesome, almost unfair that someone could be such a good singer AND guitarist. Every day I have the blues, worry worry worry, and woke up this morning were the best songs

Captures what an incredible live blues musician BB King was. Great set.

Bon mood pour le matin

standard blues

Not really a huge blues fan, but fantastic album. Sounds were great, BB had so much passion in his music.

One of the best blues musicians of the history. Love the way he plays guitar and do with the public.

What a man. Never been the biggest fan of the blues, but there's something I really love about it, and whatever that is, this man has it. 4/5

How blue can you get? Pretty blue, with the song that asks that question. That's a magical recording: Almost fifty-seven years old, it captures the crash of the band with King's voice somehow - magically - leading. The followup number is rock of the old and fine school. Then we get some artifacts, acknowledgement of the physical limitations of the live album. This is a slightly sly take on music, with its emotional directness measured. That clarifies the blues as a transparent form, one that the musicians all have their chance to play in. I want to be at the show more than I want to hear the album again.

I really like live jazz albums. I really like blues. Stands to reason I would love a live blues album. And did Saved: Every Day I Have The Blues; Sweet Little Angel; How Blue Can You Get?*

Saved Prior: None Off Rip: It's My Own Fault; How Blue Can You Get?; You Upset Me Baby; Worry, Worry Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: By far my favorite blues album thus far, in large part due to how much fun everyone seems to be having both on stage and in the audience.

4 of 1,001. Not bad, definitely feel I'd like it more with more listens.

Captures the energy of the live performance and the impeccable playing.

Very solid live performance for sure. Maybe not as tight as I'd like it, but pretty solid for a live show. Dude's one of the greats for sure.

Ya like Jazz?

Brilliant. Being live adds so much energy to it.

When I first heard BB King I was disappointed. He just sat in half circle with his band and played a very slow-paced show. It was much later in his life though. It took me years to listen tp him again. Hearing these live shows from the 60s is what made me appreciate him for his greatness.

yeah this guys cool

Solid live album, classic blues elements with a polished sound

Lots of fun interplay with the crowd. Great recording too.

Classic live album. Love BB King

4/5 Classic bluesy BB King album.

Jethro was originally scheduled to play the organ, but after his organ broke, King instructed Jethro to play the piano.[11] When Jethro said he did not know how to play the piano, King replied "Well, just sit there and pretend that's what you do most of the time anyway."

BB King does live up to the name. The beginning felt like a real concert experience. Some of the songs were catchy, but overall a lot of it was relying on a lot of the same blues riffs and got a bit repetitive.

Excellent blues

Excellent live blues album, sensational band, excited crowd and bb king being charismatic and good at guitar. Jazzy and 60s cool. Good for a dinner party 4/5

I enjoyed it.

I’m not usually a Blues guy but this B.B. King album may have won me over. His guitar work and vocal performance is just fantastic! All the more impressive that this is a live album. My favorite track is “How Blue Can You Get?”

This live album was pretty good, I enjoyed it. Can definitely see why it is considered to be one of the best blues albums ever recorded. 4.5/5 stars.

Album molto piacevole, pazzesco uso della voce, arrangiamenti molto belli

The album starts out upbeat. I enjoyed B.B. King's performance style. He almost has a conversation with the audience as he talks in between songs. The album slides from one track into the next, linked by B.B.'s narration. I recognized one track, "How Blue Can You Get", because it was sampled for the song "Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth With Money in My Hand" by Primitive Radio Gods (1996). I'm pretty sure I've never heard the original song before. The rest of the album was 100% new to me. There are a couple tracks that I'd have a hard time listening to with my daughters in the room, because of the way B.B. talks about his ideal woman. Nothing crazy, but I would never sing along to those lyrics. Overall I liked the music and the performances. The album is borderline between a 3 and 4. I could see myself listening to the album again at least once, so that makes it a 4.

Super good. The energy from the live show comes through really well too.

I really love 12 bar blues, it's easily my favourite genre, but I don't like the big Chicago sound: saxophone, horns, piano and intrusive American crowds screaming at every little word. When he actually gets round to playing the guitar rather than playing the audience, he's pretty good. B.B.has produced some sublime moments, but not many of them are on display here. This is just cheesy showbiz. The thrill may be gone but it still beats the Pet Shop Boys hands down.

Great live album! B.B. King is amazing!

it's a serve omg exactly what i love very soulful and bluesy the fact that its live purr

Klassische Blues Musik kriegt mich immer!

fun! made it through without looking at the clock more than once or twice. he's the og.

Magic. B.B. and Lucille - what a pair!

Great blues, great band.

good vibes. an intense soulfulness with just enough of a live rowdy crowd as a pleasant spice

Amazing sounds

Yeh boy. Good fun album.

OMG talk about crowd particpation! The sequence of songs from 2-4 is amazing. His playing, his banter, his howls and of course, the perfectly timed screaming women in the crowd. After that, it's a bit disjunctive: he get's introduced again (maybe second set?) and the R&B-ish track sounds like it got pasted in from another performance. Still loved it!

Really nice!!!

Bien. Un 4

Super enjoyable album, front to back.

Really like this album. I wish I was a bigger fan of the blues, but this is pretty solid.

Very fun album. It’s great to hear live concerts from years ago especially since we can’t go to any now

Great!

I already know I'm going to enjoy this. B.B. King is a legend.

Real nice, lots of good energy.

Excellent live blues from the master. 4 stars.

+ Every Day I Have the Blues

Fun. Not as peaceful as I would have liked.

Amazing live album! Did they take any breaks??

How Blue Can You Get Felt like one continuous experience. Quintessential Blues. Lively, soulful, but blues

What a great album, had such a nice vibe being love and loved his stories and crowd play. Worry worry is such a great song.

Party groves

A line that stuck with me is I love the way you do

I think listening to Dad listen to BB King my whole life lead me to believe I didn't really like it. This album was good and not how I remember King sounding. Lots of horns, it mostly didn't feel like the guitar was the focal point, and I think it being a live album improved the collection.

Gillade verkligen! Mycket bra blues. Kommer lyssna fler ggr.

This is indeed the blues.

Classic blues.

A classic!

fkn bbking yo

Very good. I'm not a big fan of live albums, but this one is very good. The King is amazing, as usual.

This is so rockin.

Love it <3

Excellent album.

I don't love live albums. Cheering, little stories told to keep the crowd interested while instrumental changes are made, background noises - these are things I don't care to listen to when I put on some music at home or in the car. This album is one of the worst offenders from that standpoint. People whistle and cheer throughout. At one point early on, B.B. laughs at a comment somebody makes, so the crowd spends the next 2-3 songs making pithy comments after every sung line, trying to get some acknowledgement. Makes me want to tear my hair out. At the same time, I get why, if he's only going to get one entry on this list (?!), it would be a live album. The guy played 250+ shows a year for decades. The musicianship is off the charts (of course), and it feels like an honor to spend a little over half an hour with the King. I just wish it were under better circumstances. Best track: Please Love Me (because it has the least crowd noise)

Standout Tracks: How Blue Can You Get?, You Upset Me Baby, Help The Poor

king of blues!

Great musically, but jesus some of those lyrics get on my nerves.

i was straight JIVIN !! though not likely ill revisit often, saved 1/10

Now *here's* some chooglin'. I like blues, I find it hard to think of that much to say about this tho - it's pretty smooth and tight, like really really solid blues rock, but maybe missing that bit of weirdness and edge and intensity that you need to really really get into it?

A great blues album that is fun, short and sweet. Rating: 7/10 Favorite Song: it’s my own fault

Nice background jazz. I really like the stage work the performer does. The little jokes are very charming.

Pretty good but I'm not really in a jazz mood at the moment. I guess I also just don't know music well enough to appreciate really good jazz

not really my thing but still don’t mind listening to it 2.5

Enjoyed it. But not really my thing

Not a massive blues guitar fan but actually quite enjoyed this. Probably won’t come back but glad to have listened.

I finished my first listen at around 12:10PM. I had 3 listens after that. I’m not a blues listener usually, but this album was very good for what it is and B.B. King himself is very charming and the dialogue he weaves between the songs is sweet.

Usually don’t care for live albums but this one was quite fun, lotsa swing

Previously unknown. A good time.

I think live albums are a tough category for me.

I haven't listened to him enough. Didn't know any of these songs, but they're all great.

Easy and fun listening although blues is not a genre I regularly listen to. Usually I dislike live albums but the crowd is a great addition on this one. Incredible to hear the energy and emotion in the room from a show in the 60s.

revisit

Not my favorite

Enjoyable but not one I'm likely to revisit.

Have to admit that Blues tracks all sound the same to me. This was great but in the end it's just generic blues.

Its ok....

I liked this. High energy, and sounded great. Not sure I’d be able to distinguish it from other albums of the same genre. He does have a great voice though and I would have loved to be in the regal theatre in 1964 while this was being performed.

This was alright, just not really my thing. I can appreciate the excellent voice and showmanship.

Straightforward blues played to an ecstatic crowd. Fun to hear that Primitive Radio Gods sample in its natural habitat

gore dolu

blues king!

Correcto

i bet that was a good show

Nothing too unexpected here, but solid execution of a tried and true style. For me, This album represented the duality of the live album format, because on one hand, the live atmosphere adds another layer of immersion and excitement, but the cynical side of me starts to get annoyed by the young women who hoot and holler between every phrase lol. It's also mind-boggling to consider that this is the kind of music that young people listened to at one time. Better times, I say. Both of the atmosphere and the lyrics evoke an image of a time where men and women needed each other for their respective strengths, as opposed to our post modern capitalist work machine where love has died

Not a fan of live records, but it's alright. A bit short maybe.

Lively and energetic. The Blues is not a favorite genre of mine because it all tends to sound reallllly similar to my ear. Live At The Regal fell into that same category, unfortunately. However, the saving grace of the album for me was the energy of his performance and the live audience. You could tell he had a lot of fun on stage that night with his little cheeky comments. This was good, I wouldn't come back to it though. Favorite Tracks: Every Day I Have The Blues How Blue Can You Get Worry, Worry

I've Been Down Hearted Baby 1001 Albums Generator 301 (5/28/2026) I really didn't think I was gonna like this, since I haven't liked a lot of the straightforward blues that I've had on this list, but there's something special about B.B King's energy on this thing. His guitar playing is extremely tight when it needs to be and loose when it can be. His voice is strong and soulful at times. And the way that this is recorded really emphasizes the sound of the crowd, which makes you feel like you're really there. It's still got the basic blues format (12-bar, etc), but it's definitely done very well. The horns are also worth a shout out, especially on How Blue Can You Get? B.B. is also pretty funny on this thing, notably on Worry, Worry, which is funny in a kind of dark way. Looses a bit of steam at points, but still makes for a relatively enjoyable listen with its energy. 3.5/5, rounded down to a 3. Favs: Every Day I Have The Blues Worry, Worry Woke Up This Mornin' Least Fav: You Upset Me Baby

Pretty cool

bit mid

Le fameux Live At The Regal de B.B.

Bit pedestrian but nothing wrong with a little B.B.

Don't mind a bit of Blues, a good album

Not normally my thing but this has such infectiously positive energy that really carries it forward. Love how much of the crowd you can hear too

Mmm unsure on this sometimes I struggle with live albums

I enjoyed this more than I expected to. I don't know if I would listen to this style of blues on my own but I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the live version likely more than I would a recorded version.

#362/1001. If there was a blueprint album for blues, I guess this would be it. I'm not a blues fan, but I can see the importance and influence of King & Lucille.

Indrukwekkend concert.

Joo, ihan tiukkaa soittoo.

Not a lover of live albums and having seen the King play live this doesn’t really do the great man justice. It’s better to be there to be fair!

I enjoyed this album, but not really something that I would seek out to listen to again nor would I purchase this album. Typical blues, live recording, but very good.

I don’t get blues. But he’s good at guitar.

299/1001 B.B King - Live At The Regal Heard before? ❎ Revisit? ❓ Another outside of my wheelhouse, but I enjoyed regardless. However, I'm just not sure when the desire to return to it would be...

Digamos que simpático. Yo sé que es una leyenda y se nota. Dicho esto Nota: 3.0

it was fun, but i wouldn't choose to listen to it again

The band is super tight, and King's guitar and voice sound excellent, but there were at least a couple of places on this album where it transitioned from one song to another only for the new song to sound more or less identical to the first.

I didn’t really listen oops

Blues are nice, this is nice but very little stands out to me

He's one of the Three Kings of Blues! Usually don't like Live versions of albums but this has very nice charm to it. Also, the guy did 342 shows in one year!!!! Crazy stuff. Tired work but he made it work cause it was his life. I wonder if I'll see the other Kings show up on my list. Albert an Freddie.

Interesting to listen to a whole live album. I like his commentary between songs

Keep telling myself I should listen to more blues...

Fun live blues. It is hard to take away the decades of shite and apprecitae the blues. Being a live album and short helps. 3.5 rounded down Heard before? No Owned: No: 70/281 (25%) Will I get: No

I always think of B.B. King's guitar playing first, but this reminded me that he has rich and inviting voice as well. In true bluesman fashion he tells stories of desire and heartbreak.

Music was good, but minus a star for being a live album.

Better than i expected actually

King is a phenomenal perfomer, particularly his vocals, but the heavy use of brass section spoiled this a bit for me. Blues just sounds better to me when it's rawer and carried by the guitar.

Pretty chill. Funky jazz type. okay.

good album, but not my favourite. Love to hear though

Easy listen

In the spirit of classic old recordings, here we have another great example of a great album being a live recording. When it comes to blues music the live atmosphere really is the only way to do it justice. The excitement of performing to an appreciative audience really does feed into the performances of the musicians involved. And wow what a great guitar tone on display here. It really does sing! Maybe would have been great to hear B.B. King backed by some more fiery players but it is all about him after all! There must be some other albums by him worth listening to so I’ll have to do some research. I wonder if he ever made a great studio album?

King was certainly a master of blues guitar. My favorite parts of this record were actually his storytelling/banter between songs. It wasn’t much, but I felt like I was being ushered from one idea to another.

I like the blues and I like BB, but the songs and the album as a whole were just too short. It was just a blues appetizers...

This was fun but not sure I'd come back to it, nothing really stood out to me even if the energy is exciting.

Nobody leaves this place without singin' in the blues.

B.B. King's vocals and guitar are incendiary at points on this live recording, but electric blues has never been my thing and I want to like this album more than I do.

In lots of ways right up my street and the sort of thing I should really love. But something about it left me not ever getting in to it as much as I might have liked to. Maybe its the live nature, which is odd as I tend to enjoy live albums. Maybe there was just a bit too much fiddling around? So, this was fine with some nice bits and pieces on it.

I love a bluesy album, but a lot of these songs run together. Not a lot of stand-outs, but still a pretty good album.

Good album but not a 4/5 star album for me. Enjoyed it but I’m not pulling this out all the time for a re-listen.

I like B.B. King and I thought I was going to like this album alot more. But it was good!

Not a bad live album.

I really enjoyed it. The album feels lively and joyful, and the connection with the audience makes it stand out. It’s not a genre I usually listen to, but it made me curious to explore more blues. I might not fully connect with it yet, but it’s a great introduction.

boring aber gut i guess

Good, but not notable

It’s a live blues album that was quite enjoyable at times, yet felt average overall. The songs tend to blur together and can come across as a bit repetitive, and the messaging occasionally feels a little preachy and surface-level. That said, his deep, raspy voice is consistently captivating and easily the highlight throughout.

Definitely not my favorite but it is great though.

I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite album but it was fun to listen to. for me there was a bit too much speaking during the songs but it was a live performance so it makes sense why it’s like that. But it was also groovy in a way and I appreciate it because I like this type of music

I dug the vibe and the bluesy licks, and it wasn't bad by any stretch, but it felt like a bit too much "greatest hits" without any surprises. Still, B.B.'s voice and guitar are a force of nature, and that's worth the price of admission alone. Spins: 1 Playlist Additions - Sweet Little Angel - How Blue Can You Get - Worry, Worry

Blind album, know the artist by name. Album had a Lotta soul but my soul didn't wanna party so I guess its a no.

yes, but the audio quality is poor, which is probably an age thing. but Blues will always speak to me, melancholic, heavy but still melodic

100% not what I'd ever go out of my way to listen to but it was actually reasonably enjoyable just maybe more of a one off thing.

He's got some serious pipes! This had a lot of sizzly energy and I'm sure it would have been so fun to be there. Song wise, there wasn't anything I was really drawn into, but it was still a bluesy good time.

The audience interaction is interesting at first, but after a few songs it starts to feel kind of repetitive. It’s like you already know what’s going to happen next, so it loses that excitement. Also, a lot of the songs sound a bit similar. There isn’t a big change in energy or style, so it can get a little boring if you listen to the whole album in one go.

If Blues is your thing I suspect this is pretty good.

Instantly accessible and very easy to listen to. All the songs sound the same with near identical structure, but it was fun.

Fantastic voice, trad guitar solos you’ve heard a million times (and which lost their novel appeal long ago), crowd way too happy for the Blues which made it an odd live album. No denying the influence. Think I just prefer your old school bluesman to be more of a solo misery fest; give me ‘Fingerless Boots Johnson’ recorded on wax cylinder in an old chicken coop over this any day.

it was fine? i don't think blues is really my thing, not a massive fan of live albums either

So many classics ofc - will say I found some of the yelling in the live to be a bit annoying but I did love the lead ins

good album, this type of blues are not my favourites but i like this album.

For someone who has the Blues, he sure sounds like he's gotten over it and earned himself some Greens with this Red album (not a bad live album though, such great guitar). I like my Blues to be more depressed.

I dont see a reason for me to hate blues but i also understand why i don't love it

Nice and warm performance by The Legend the blues. It was nice interaction between artist and the audience, which made me feel myself like a part of the show. Musically it was “regular blues” with typical hooks, live themes etc

I not really a fan of blues music so it’s hard to rate a blue album but I thought the album was alright nothing special but ok

2.75. This live album sounds less like a planned setlist and more like BB King just followed where the music led him.

Don't massively like Live music but two of these songs were class icl

pretty good like how the whole album has a fast-ish sound all through out i honestly didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as i did! i’d say that my favorite song from this album has to be “you upset me baby”.

I understand BB King’s importance. There’s a lot of blues I like/love, but for whatever reason, BB King doesn’t really do it for me. It’s great, musically, but just not my cuppa tea.

classic

To address my biases: I do not like live albums typically. That’s not to say no live album is good or can be good, nor is it to ignore the many live albums that play an integral role in the discographies of many top artists. They will just never be my preference. This album demonstrates this nicely to me: King is an excellent performer and vocalist, and his band supports him well, the album is solid, but so much is given over to a screaming crowd, or to conversation and talking to a crowd. This time is vital in live performance, but in recording it drags. We will never be the chief audience of this album, that was a privilege granted to those present. That the album is a short half an hour is a victory here, what novelty it offers would surely be lost by an extra 15 minutes. I did not dislike this album, it is fundamentally quality blues, but I feel it being a live album only hampers it.

This album is fine with some good singing and playing but I don't think I'll listen to it again. Just not my thing.

good but sam cooke better

I love the audience. we're all just the same. He's a king and a human all at the same time

I appreciate the album and I love how the energy translates even now when listening to the live recordings but overall this is too blues-y for me. Just isn’t landing. Help The Poor was my favorite track though.

Está bueno

Fun live album with a well practiced band - but not exactly the most memorable experience
