Reviews (page 11 of 12)

kind of repetitive but still good

I appreciate the talent involved, but man does this get boring fast. Not my style at all.

BB is BB and the King of blues rock. Nice live album He and Lucille wail.

Pretty good blues album Top tracks: Every Day I Have The Blues, You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now

i like blues & jazz. no crazy memorable tracks tho

Ohhhh yeahhhh. Need to listen to a couple more times. Sehr schön

First listen Saved 4/10: - Every Day I Have The Blues - Sweet Little Angel - You Upset Me Baby - Help The Poor

I don’t usually care for live albums generally so I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this one. I really enjoyed the intro and the first 1/3 of the album. The music was good and the energy was perfect. The last 2/3 were okay. Since it’s a lot of jazz, it became quite repetitive. I’d give it a 3/5.

Actually preferred the last half of the album (Woke Up This Morning, Help The Poor). This guy's a legend for a reason but preferred other tracks/albums by him.

Great technicality and artistry - not my favorite style of jazz

I just love me some blues.

Tiene canciones agradables

Kinda what I expected in a way. A nice listen of blues/rock, some funny lyrics too and you can tell he’s a natural entertainer. Nice background listen without it ever really grabbing attention.

Loudest crowd noise I've ever heard on an album, it makes it sound more like a proper gig I suppose but it's a bit annoying to listen to. B.B does have a great voice, this would be great to hear live and was fun to listen to on record once, I'm not sure it warrants repeated listens.

Great voice, lots of atmosphere, but not something I'd return to.

I did enjoy this, but reading the public reviews, I was expecting to enjoy it more. I know he's a legend, but just feels so distant and unrelatable. Might give it another go

I really love bb! This was another fun album. It’s real music.

Good stuff!

My biggest gripe with this record is that the songs themselves sound very similar. King’s vocal performances themselves are great, I guess I was expecting to hear more versatility on this one.

Influential Blues!

Favourite Song: Worry, Worry Not usually a fan of live albums, but this one is really fun and the audience are so enthused. A new sort of my music for me, and I would listen again given the right mood.

I’m not a blues expert, so it’s hard for my to judge what’s exceptional in the blues world. BB King’s voice is entrancing, but this seems more like a “you had to be there/then” to get it.

Summary: I am snapping along out of the gate. With very little experience with this genre, I feel like I am skipping right to the advanced class but enjoying it quite a bit. I'm not sure if it is the style or the live nature of the album but I'm not really noticing track changes so no track-by-track reactions today. I feel like this is the type of music that when it is good, I'll tap my foot and bob my head but it will never be more than background music for me.

Hard not to like live BB King. Ground breaking? Not really. Just old-school guitar blues, wailing about his baby. Not many like him today. Maybe Kingfish. More needed.

B.B. King live is the best way to listen. This is probably his best album.

his little stories are fun.

Blues Buen humor

Nothing too exciting. Good background music. 3/5

3.5 verging on 4 but can't warrant it

It was good but not my favorite. It was nice to listen to at work but I wouldn’t listen for leisure.

Ohne B. B. King wäre die Rockmusik wahrscheinlich nicht das, was sie heute ist. Persönlich mag ich aktuelleren Bluesrock aber lieber.

I enjoyed it, but the blues are definitely not a favorite genre of mine

Appreciate B.B. and his majesty of the blues. I especially admire his vocals, and connected the dots between singers like him and British rock and blues singers like Robert Plant and Steve Marriott. They clearly absorbed the vocal riffs of the great blues singers like Mr. King. That being said, I am still more inclined to pick up Muddy Waters, Albert King, or Buddy Guy before I get to B.B. King

Simple blues, but a lot of feeling at the same time

Worth a listen although not a big fan of this type of music.

Liked this album. Not keen on the live element.

interesting! ive listened to a bit of blues here and there but its mostly sparser more acoustic downtempo and with like a gospel bent like blind willie johnson. this was a little jazzier than i thought it would be. i liked it. it was a bop. but i like a bleaker blues i think. also enjoyed audience reactions. probably a 3.5 for me. fav track i actually really liked help the poor & the instrumentation on that

A good sound, but I could have done with the casual domestic violence joke

It's alright. He had already been going for 15 years when this was recorded. This is probably a good summary of his early work. Without BB King, rock 'n roll and everything after would have been different. I like his influence more than his music. Favorite song: woke up this morning

It's okay. Aber bin kein wirklicher Fan

Good just not my thing

очень даже ничего

This is not my flavor of blues, but I don't begrudge the man his success. He hustled hard and played and sang well.

Pretty fun listen. I understand why it’s so highly regarded. Definitely one I would like to return to in the future.

First of all the cover eats. Very pretty colors. Overall I kinda like it! My standout tracks were "You Done Lost Your Good Thing" and "It's My Own Fault." He has really good stage presence which makes the live album a lot of fun. My critiques are that the songs start to sound the same after a while... but maybe I'm just not that familiar with jazz yet.

Very nice. Love the hyped crowd too.

Another live album, but the boppiest of them all so far with less audience wailing in the background. King's command of the guitar is regal.

I love how he interacts with the crowd. Not a genre I'm familiar with but it was entertaining from start to finish. Those moments where the crowd goes wild for him are highlights for me. Fav Songs: How Blue Can You Get?, Sweet Little Angel & Worry, Worry

Favourite track: Every Day I Have The Blues. I liked that it's a bit jazzy as well. I could do without story time

Cool to hear just how good B.B. King was in his glory days - what a powerhouse! Still just sounds like the same song repeated over and over again though.

There’s no denying the force that is B.B. King. The wailing guitar and powerful voice. He is a legend for reason - and the audience at The Regal this night obviously agreed. Personally, I’m just not feeling the blues that much.

BB King is a legend. I'm still against live albums on the list. I saw him live at the HoB in Chicago when he was in his 80s - it was way better than this. Still - he's a legend.

Good album

"The King of Blues" in a very famous live album. It's generally solid, and he's clearly a talented performer and guitarist. I'm not super into the blues, but it was an enjoyable listen. He definitely gets the crowd going throughout, and I liked how he transitioned between songs a few times. Solid album that was a fun listen, but not a major standout to me (though I'm sure I'm missing some of the historical context here). Favorite song: Sweet Little Angel Other: How Blue Can You Get?, Woke Up This Mornin’, Help The Poor 11/10/23

I liked it, but I wasn't blown away. I do generally like B.B. King but on a list like this, he doesn't have the energy, creativity or range that some of the other artists do. I did give it two listens and if I could give it a 3.5 I would, but it doesn't rise to a four.

Mmmm, so-so. Some songs are nice, some not very. A bit too diluted. here and there..

Good to listen to during work, but not really my style :)

Tää ois hyvä pistää soimaa gallerialla jonkun chillin illan vieton taustalle <3 Tai kokkailuhetkeen :3 Eli hyvää taustamusaa!!

Not my music style

It's a nice time. Real upbeat and full of energy.

Uplifting groove. Not overly exciting, but definitely not bad.

Love to hear his younger self, but I think I prefer Live at Cook County Jail

My first Blues Album. Unfortunately, I was not really impressed 😕

Listened to a bit, not bad but didn’t grab me immediately

Blues, gut, sehr gut.

Not a big BB king fan. However I enjoyed the songs I hadn’t heard before. Wouldn’t listen to it exclusively

Enjoyable live album

This was Friday's, not Monday's (10/16/23) - so I'm a day behind. It was nice. Do Ya Like, Jazz?! The intro reminded me of the opening to... "Ladies and Gentlemen. It's the Eric Andre Show!" YEEEEAAAAHHHHHHH

It's pretty cool but I don't get the hype tbh

Upbeat and fun.

I obviously have a lot of respect for B.B. King but at the same time I fail to see how this is supposed to be special. This sounds like any other standard electric blues album I've ever heard in my life.

Classic blues, well played, nice feeling, nothing really stands out. A pleasant live performance.

It was blues.

Somewhere between a 5-6/10 for me. Pretty far outside of my usual wheelhouse, so I may not be qualified to comment, but it did feel a bit repetitive at times. Still, the live recording and energy from the crowd buoy the album a bit.

Great album. No wonder they call him King of the blues.

Tight live album, all sounds the same though

The man shreds

The music is good and fun to listen to I'm not a huge fan of very genred music though And super traditional stuff with weird misogynistic views And it just doesn't do much for me personally

Some solid blues - just not my favourite genre so didn’t do too much for me, but King is clearly a master of his craft

Today we have a legend of the blues: BB King. I remember listening to him a little in my teens when I was learning guitar (as well as Albert King too, which causes me to get mixed up to this day). I can’t remember any specific songs so I’m excited to listen to this today. Songs I already knew: none Favourites: How Blue Can You Get? This is quite an odd one to review. It is a live album, and the crowd excitement is palpable through a listen which is definitely contagious. You can feel BB’s stage presence, and his voice is great throughout. However, the biggest drawback of this album is that each track is simply too similar. There are 12 bar blues abound here, which once you notice becomes more and more bewildering rather than exciting. Overall, I liked it more than I disliked it but it wasn’t amazing once you notice the similarities.

Didn’t love this - weird as I would have said I always liked him.

I guess it was okay, not really overly fussed on the songs themselves though. It was all a bit sparse and samey. It was also mercifully short though and the guitar playing was great, so 3 stars for effort.

Good music, lyrics are pretty old school

Like Sam Cooke's *Live at the Harlem Square Club, 1963* with even more saxophone. 15 September 2023

ennui partiel

some good ol’ quality blues in a live setting.

Not my cup of tea but I did enjoy it

Listened Before? N Great performance by an all-timer. I don't think I've ever heard him sing before, I just knew of him because he's a household name. This was a good introduction. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Every Day I Have The Blues

I hate the blues and this didn't make me want to jam ice picks into my ears.

Pretty good album. BB King is always enjoyable.

I didn't go into this with a very open mind, and I admit I was only half listening for a lot of this album. However, I still managed to be pleasantly surprised and impressed. There's no doubt about it that I'm witnessing one of history's great performers in action. The songs are okay, but this album is all about BB King's live performance. His rapport with the audience is something every artist would aspire to, and you can't fault it musically at all. He sings and plays with so much emotion and soul. Unfortunately, I will never get to see him live, but I just know if I was in the room when this was recorded, I wouldn't have been able to take my eyes off him! Favourite track: It's My Own Fault

despite not normally liking the production of live albums, this one was actually pretty good. the sound was a bit repetitive, but it sounds good so i can’t complain too much.

Day 111 I don't know about B.B. King, I always felt that he's so loved and respected by the record buying public because he managed to get more exposure than some of his peers; nothing wrong with him, I mean he seems to be a lovely chap and an accomplished musician, but he doesn't move me in the way that Albert King, Big Joe Turner, Howling Wolf, or even John Lee Hooker do. Also, I don't like live albums, the cheering crowds distract me from the music and usually live recordings are not really good recordings. This sounds very well executed and recorded though. At the same time, his voice sounds younger than other albums from him that I heard, which somehow gives his singing a soulful quality; I was pleasantly surprised in that sense. I guess it is a great album if you like him or the genre, but this is not the type of blues that I preferred. I didn't dislike it though, but I wasn't thrilled either. Score: See you tomorrow.

Enjoyed this, but again nothing mind-blowing. I can appreciate his talent and how influential King must have been, but I just find this era or blues to be so same-y. I know that's kind of the point, but it's just not for me I guess!

The musicianship is outstanding. I didn't realise his voice was as powerful as his guitar. I could done without the screaming fans - part of the live album experience I guess. Some pleasant changes in pace. Not the usual blues fodder.

Doesn't appeal to me as much as other blues artists - a little smooth perhaps? But OK

Every Day I Have the Blues- 3.4/5 Sweet Little Angel- 3.4/5 It's My Own Fault- 2.8/5 How Blue Can You Get- 3.5/5 Please Love Me- 2.9/5 You Upset Me Baby- 3.1/5 Worry, Worry- 3/5 Woke Up This Mornin'- 2.7/5 You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now- 3.4/5 Help the Poor- 3.3/5 Total- 3.2/5

Decent. Again too many live albums. Still it's a fun recording.

Songs are all really good but I really don't think there should be any live albums on this list. 3.5 stars

Una colección de canciones de blues interpretadas por uno de los vocalistas y guitarristas más celebres del genero. Sus intensas versiones de canciones clásicas del cancionero afroamericano clásico dejan en claro porque B.B. King es el “Rey del Blues”.

Pretty good wow he really worked that crowd

I enjoyed this more than the last few jazz albums. Great vocalist and a nice mix of blues sprinkled in.

It’s a very solid live blues album. Unfortunately, even a very solid live blues album is just not my style.

old school blues but pretty fun 3.5

Can’t get excited about this stuff.

The playing is magnificent, and you can hear what enthralled all the boring British bluesmen (and in the case of a certain notable racist/deadbeat dad, led to a reputational laundering in the guise of a collaborative record). The crowd on this, however, has got to set a record for one of the worst ever captured on a live album, and genuinely makes it difficult to get through.

It's a shame they chucked this at me right after the James Brown Live at the Apollo album as they've both blended together in my mind. I think I preferred this to James Brown, though I was shocked by some of the banter depicting some casual domestic violence. Anyways, the music was good, obviously, but I hope that I'll get given a studio album. Standout Track: How Blue Can You Get?

Not a bad album

Wasn't bad but not for me

Betra en mörg læv albúm. BB var í stuði þarna.

Like it's definitely good. Feel good blues is just so weird. And just doesn't hit like Muddy or the other two Kings.

A good palate cleanser after Thursday's noise rock. Often repetitive, but consistently sharp and lively. Surprised by how much I liked him as a vocalist. Wish there was more guitar. Very nice albeit not something that left a huge impact. Best song: Worry, Worry

I've always thought that I have a weak spot for blues live albums, despite my hatred against live albums in general. But this one kinda washed over me. It just droned on and didn't catch my attention much. Quite underwhelming considering how hyped this is, but still pretty decent.

so so, can't say it grabbed me. Nothing at all wrong with it but a little lack lustre. Pity as BB king is a fine musician

- Sounds like they’re having a helluva time - Really enjoy how they keep the music rolling in between songs - Great bluesy voice

I'm in two minds about that one. On the one hand, I tend to think that inclusing live albums on such a list is "cheating* a little. The next step would be to include compilation albums, and then the meaning of this list would go down the drain (even if it would allow me to include The Buzzcocks' *Singles Going Steady*, lol). On the other hand, " Live At The Regal" sounds like a perfect example of what BB King could do as a performer. I'm not a huge blues fan, you see--it's hard for me to forget that the genre uses the same chords over and over again, and I have a better attention span for arrangements and overall harmonies than I have for noodling guitar solos. But for someone like me, who is not a big fan of the blues, this sort of live album is actually the perfect entry point into it (just as Albert King's *Born Under A Bad Sign* is, even if that other legendary record is closer to *rhythm*'n' blues than this one is). To put it in a nutshell, what makes *Live At Regal* such a good entry point into blues is how "driven" this whole recording is (to the point where I found the crowd noises a little annoying sometimes--you don't need them so loud in the mix to get excited, really). I was for instance suprised by the high octane energy of the opener on this LP. I was moved by the sheer emotion of its closer. And everything in between sounded nice, even if it was a bit repetitive sometimes. BB King's voice is as devilishly suave as his guitar playing is suavely devilish. And this transcends the many constraints blues usually imposes on its performers... So I guess I'm gonna give this live album the benefit of the doubt... 3/5 for the purposes of this list. Which means 8/10 for more general purposes (3+8). Number of albums left to review: 591 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 195 Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 92 (including this one) Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more essential to me): 122

The Thrill is Gone Lucille

Young strong vibrant BB King.... Different vibe from the older voice I know best but still darn good

Love the man. Neutral on the genre.

3.6 - A great blues showman and fixture of American music. Wonderful voice and expressive guitar playing.

Cool, bit small (65%)

Blues som fan

Ok but not my vibe

The crowd's energy on this album is exactly what I look for when it comes to live albums included on this project. Blues isn't typically a genre of interest for me, but even I'm not fully immune to the voice of B.B. King, and his style of blues as heard on this album is very soulful and enjoyable. His own energy, interactions, and sheer power and emotion here all shine through, from raw gritty note to soaring high note. You can really tell that this man is feeling what he's singing, which again, is something that is so important to me in hearing these live album inclusions. This is one of those situations where I feel like attendees of this show must have witnessed something spectacular. The fact that even trace amounts of that come through on the album is amazing.

Preferred the bb King albums Spotify recommended after

Best Song: You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now. Probably the best vocal performance on the album. Worst Song: Worry, Worry. I've just never been a fan of the "relationship advice interlude" that seems so common in blues music. Overall: B.B. King is obviously King here. Instrumentally and vocally everything is really great here, although I do wish that some tracks were more stripped back to let King's vocals stand more prominent.

Upbeat blues is funny, opening track "nobody loves me, nobody cares" (oh yeah, woo!) Good live album.

As I said about previous live albums, not a fan. It’s great when you know the artist or if you were at the concert. But if not, I prefer a studio album. Still he is a legend and the music is great.

I'm all for live albums, but the high-pitched screams from the audience are taking me out.

No shade, but I was hoping for a bit more energy out of a live album. This just simply can't compete with the likes of Johnny Cash or Thin Lizzy who have amazing live records. I know B.B. King is a legend, but I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would've.

Sounds great, especially for a live album, but it does all sound the same.

Love B.B. King but those albums always sound exactly the same.

On kyl aika lunkia vasemman nypläämistä!

Better than expected.

I don't know what it is about the blues, they're just so depressing.

Classic bb not my fave live blues. I like rip and roar. Prob not too 1000

yep, it's a blues album alright. out of all the blues albums i have heard this is probably the bluesiest album good flow though, nice audience interactions. it just feels so samey

Þetta er aðeins of mikið swing fyrir minn smekk. King sjálfur er fínn en nær samt ekki alveg í gegn til mín. Má hlusta, en ég þarf ekki að gera það aftur.

Pas mal!

It is what it is.

Chill, nice old school vibes

Vocals are incredible and is the part that stuck with me. Not sure if blues is going to be a genre I listen to a lot but there is much to appreciate here. Would attend this performance if I could :)

I was prepared to hate it because I don’t care for live albums, but it’s just a recording of his performance and was actually really fun to listen to

It’s pretty good album, the soloing gets a bit much after a time though

Like... live

Enjoyed this album

Easy listening

live album

Pretty sure I’ve heard this one played at my barber shop

I played this full blast at my mum's funeral and my auntie came so hard that the church got permanently closed.

No references to leukaemia

Big jazz for a Sunday morning

Its blues, its live, people are yelling. Probably a big deal for its time, but can't say its incredible.

It was fine. Just some blues.

a bit vegas and those chicago blues leads just aren’t my thing but it’s a good punchy band

Between this, sam cooke, and even lynyrd skynyrd I've gotten a good mix of different types of blues and soul recently. This wasn't quite as good as those and there isn't a song that really sticks out to me but it's definitely a really solid 3/5. Fun live music atmosphere and decent music.

Live Blues, pretty good live performance but I wasn't bowled over by the music.

Not bad.

Yes this is a good album, and the guitar playing is fantastic, but over a whole album it lacks the deep devilment of the best blues. He's a showman rather than a shaman.

Same as more old blues or rock'n roll, was I guess brilliant then but now seems bit outdated.

Okay I guess

It was nice

Klassisk ok blues.

I've gotten quite a few blues-y type albums now, and I'm starting to warm up to it a bit more, so my new challenge is now overcoming the next threat: live albums. That's what makes this so complicated, I understand a singer can really put their all into a live performance to make it better than any studio recording (Frampton Comes Alive! springs to mind) but often these songs just aren't as good as something with no random audience members cheering the whole time or the usually less than optimal sound quality, but I will admit, despite what the number down below may seem like it says, I did enjoy the album. It's just when it comes to something like this it's hard for me to think too much of it, and the addition of blues, which I already struggle to decide if I like or not, makes it a bit more of a mixed bag for me. I can understand why this is considered one of the best live albums of all time, I just can't fully get into it.

Generally speaking, not usually a fan of live albums - unless it's an act I'm really into. BB King's Live At The Regal kind of sits in the middle for me. On one hand it's a great masterpiece in amazingly good blues with fantastic guitar solos, but on the other, it's a live album. What this album also is - it's pretty tight, there's no real rambling or over-drawn-out solos, which help keep the vibe up and about, without getting bogged down. Best: How Blue Can You Get? Worst: Woke Up This Mornin'

I much prefer Hound Dog Taylor.

Mr. King brings the blues, the purples, the yellows, the magentas and the salmon pinks. How Blue Can You Get alone is worth the price of admission. Which was probably 20 cents at the time. Only complaints are how they splice two separate concerts together and it impacts the continuity a bit, and also the ending is much too lackluster for an album that kicked off this hype.

A great voice and a good listen

I’m not a big blues person and I thought this was sometimes chaotic but B.B. is sort of the gold standard of the genre.

I don't like live albums on this list, but I gave it a listen and was very pleased. BB King is a legend and it was great to hear him conversing with the crowd. I'm biting my tongue but glad this was on the list.

Damn, RIP to the legend BB King. Such an amazing guitarist, one of my favorites in the blues game. It's a shame he's one of the several notable black artists that are confined to a single live album on this list. I can't say I'm familiar with his catalog enough to pick a studio album, so I'm giving this a fair shake. It's good, but a live album can only be so good for me. The energy is definitely there. The guitar work is, as expected, excellent. Unfortunately I just end up wishing for studio recordings. Favorite tracks: Sweet Little Angel, It's My Own Fault, How Blue Can You Get. Album art: The picture is nothing special, but I love the frame design and the vibrant font choice here. About as good as it could be for a live album/performance photo cover. 3.5/5

Good King live album, some of the lyrics sound outdated regarding how to treat women, but solid guitar playing

It's honestly pretty good. Doesn't change my opinion about live albums being doodoo feces, but this B.B. King guy can play some nice tunes. The writers just kind of threw random live albums into the book to show that those exist as well - like seriously, Thin Lizzy's "Live and Dangerous? Cheap Trick's "Live at Budokan"? This album is probably one of the few that actually deserve a spot. I'm usually not a fan of blues, so a live blues album getting a 3/5 from me would most likely be a shiny sparkly 5/5 for fans of this kind of music.

Interesting for a blues album I guess.

I dig the blues and all but for some reason BB King never really did a whole lot for me. He's certainly a great showman and guitar player, and maybe that's my problem; that it comes across too slick and polished - even in a live setting.

Liked songs: How Blue Can You Get?, You Upset Me Baby, Help The Poor Not my favorite genre, but this is about as good as blues gets. The mix is astonishingly good for an album from the 60s. 3/5

Really solid blues album. Maybe it’s because it’s older, but a lot of the songs sounded really similar. I’m also a fan of guitar led blues, and the guitar sounded more like an accent here.

Solid but not my genre and not a big fan of live

Album was ok. Sound was great. Maybe a tougher album to start this all off with?

Uno de los grandes, pero el album me parecio normal

I really want to like the Blues. I’d need to hear some better material though. There were a couple of good songs

Live B.B. is the best B.B.

I grew up with the Blues Brothers and thought don't they just sound so damn good, and then you go back and listen to the originals, those that inspired them...Live, B.B. King...well, damn.

I guess if I need some blues in my life then this is a good one to have in my collection. No doubt that B.B. King is good at what he does but nothing really grabbed me on this album except for How Blue Can You Get?

Hmmmm, hot blues? Didn't quite grab me. Fave track - uh, "You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now" maybe? I listened to the album twice through and none of the tracks particularly stood out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A solid live album by Blues legend B.B. King. Not being too familiar with these songs, I was able to get into it solely because of the response from the live audience and King's playing ro them. The album was short, just over 30 minutes but it makes me wonder how much was cut. I would like to go back and hear these songs as recorded.

Traditional blues, very well played.

B.B. King gives a great performance on this show, I and the audience can agree to that. For someone not too familiar with blues music, I still found this pretty enjoyable. Favorites: "Every Day I Have The Blues", "Please Love Me", "Worry, Worry"

Very jazzy and bluesy and definitely one of the absolute best at it, but not quite my taste. Not sure about the live aspect of this album either but I did feel like I was at a speakeasy in 1950s America.

I'm not the biggest B.B. King fan, I'm not sure what it is. Feels a bit like a slightly dumbed down version of the blues or something. Still, this is a fun live record that for me feels like good background listening.

I’m not sure I was able to give this one a fair listen. It was on while I made dinner and did stuff around the house, so I wasn’t able to fully focus on it. What I heard I liked, but a lot of it sounded the same. Maybe I’ll change my mind upon second listen.

The recording is great and its all very tight but it does kinda wash over me....The guitar solos are great... but tberes just not enough light and dark. Embarrassingly sorry.

Groovy

Bluesy

I can appreciate this but I'm just not that much of a B.B. King fan. Personal taste really

Why did they let a bb be king

It’s great, but loses a lot of Re listen potential since it’s a live album

decent live album

A bit over orchestrated and showy for me but I bet it was amazing if you were there

Great album!

Not bad. Gave it a few plays through, but probably won't play it again

Good, but not the best B.B.I’ve heard.

Powerful live blues album.

Great performance but the songs all sound the same.

Initial thoughts: would be great on vinyl, listening to while i’m cleaning the house. reminds me of dad. Fav from album: It’s my own fault 3.5

Fairly early stuff, and not many tracks I'm familiar with. Love it though!

blues is einfach nicht meins aber musikalisch ists sicher top also gibts einen zusatzstern

Goes so. Bissl stressig. Aber natürlich gut gespielt

BB stond op laag volume maar gaande weg realiseerde ik me dat hij meer had verdiend. Dit was tof!

Not bad B.B., not bad.

Prima hoor.

Good but not my favorite. Wouldn't listen to it on my free time but I can appreciate it

Meh. I've said it before, but Chicago blues is so samey and boring. It's such a shame that a genre as interesting and diverse as the Delta blues evolved into it.

I like BB (not to be confused with a certain ex Israeli prime minister!), but I think that over the years we have received better blues than this.

Stsndard blues, nice

Easy blues not too blues well played.

Pleasant listen!

3.5/5 it was nice, but needed something more. I'll have to relisten.

Sounds like a fun concert, crowd engaged.

Hard not to enjoy.

2021.11.11

This album is made so much better by the live audience. Feels good to hear a bunch of people just absolutely losing their shit to blues music

"I gave you 7 children, and now you want to give them back" BB is complaining about this lady but he never thought to wrap that shit up? Classic voice and classic riffs. BB knows how to do the blues nice and smooth.

I grew up listening to this. It’s part of the soundtrack of mg childhood and brought back great memories.

Bb king is bb King. But it’s life…

It's nice to listen to the Blues Boy for the first time. Can't say that I'll relisten anytime soon, but it was good enough.

Bit Jazzy for me

Not my favourite genre, but can appreciate that this guy is one of the legends and it being a live album makes it that little bit more special.

Good for blues good for a live album but still not really doing it for me.

I dock this one star because it was a bad version of a live album. Edited wrong

Good blues music

Good for the genre. 3/5

Not my favorite live BB King album, but you really can't go wrong with this kind of thing.

I thought it was a solid live album - BB sounded great. 7/10.

классный блюз (наверное?), но не совсем моё

I know the blues is cool and the album was nice, but it kinda blurred into background music for me after a while.

Poggin. Awesome voice on the lad. Let's all give a hand for the band! Seems like a cool dude. I liked most of it.

Nice listening and enjoyed hearing the crowd.

Cool live album, great backing band, very repetitive but that’s blues for ya

Dont really like blues. He was very passionate in his lyrics. Fav songs: How blue could you get & Help the poor

ca. zur Hälfte gehört. B.B. King halt

Live albums should not be on this list, but this is a nice one.

Veoma opusteno. Svidelo mi se. Lep zvuk na giatari idk

i’m sorry but i just had a breakdown over a jazz recording and this is triggering my fight or flight senses also i am noticing a 60’s trend 🧐 ok nvm my this is doing things to my live music withdrawal no cause i miss concerts SO MUCH shout to the woman who just howled (marry me, you won’t) no cause i want to get drunk and dance to ‘sweet little angel’ in my kitchen while having a life crisis (cigarette optional) i am having fun ok this woman is my everything THE FLOW BETWEEN TRACKS I AM AT A CONCERT bb, who hurt you? ok but ‘how blue can you get’ is a baddie anthem v much in love with the energy we have created in the studio the flow’s been interrupted 😞🤚 worry, worry is 6 minutes...i’m bucklin up simp energy ngl not the misogyny DAMN yeah that was super yuck cant believe i sat through 5 minutes of wailing for the moral of the song to be mega small dick vibes again, howling woman in the crowd be my wife challenge ok, the first half of this album is CARRYING this second half with everything it has first half supremacy idgaf ‘help the poor’ makes me feel mischievous 😏 no this is just a simp album shakin my ass 🤫 cause this whole album would be better if the simp favor wasn’t dialed to 10

Live at the Regal is an absolutely necessary acquisition for fans of B.B. King or blues music in general. A high point, perhaps even the high point, for uptown blues.

BB King, what can you say. He's got such a distinctive blues voice and his guitar stylings are second to none. But Live At The Regal doesn't really stand out to me. I enjoyed the stories, but it felt a little out of place on a best 1001 albums list. Fav Tracks: "Help the Poor" and "Sweet Little Angel"

Solid live outing from BB King. The blues are well delivered but a little rote if it wasn’t for his immense voice. Again, I have a hard time considering most live albums in the same context as these others. Interesting document, but not entirely essential. Favourite track: “Help the Poor”

It's good music, but I would have way way way preferred studio recordings over live recordings. Bleh. Not sure why the Albums Generator is doing this to us :-( Probably a 4 or maybe even a 5 for the studio recordings of the same tracks.

high quality blues, good compositions, great playing and a bit of musical variety

Some good tunes. The live album element gets a bit grating though, all the talking and screaming crowds dont add anything

The first thing I noticed about Live At The Regal is that the drummer and bass player are horrible and the horn arrangements add absolutely nothing to the presentation. On Every Day I Have The Blues, the drummer takes the tune at at the most literal thudding blues shuffle I have ever heard. He singlehandedly ruins the cut and the bass player is almost as bad, with his thoroughly unimaginative note choices. The horn charts are seemingly ported over from a Vegas review with no blues feel whatsoever. That's a terrible shame because there's a lot that's good about this recording. King's voice is in great shape and his guitar playing is just fine. The audience is clearly there to have a good time; they're incredibly responsive, to the point that they're integral to the power of the recording. King has them eating out of the the palm of his hand. Thankfully, the drummer and bass player aren't as wretched on the downtempo tunes and the horns aren't as up front either. Okay, maybe the drummer and bass player were only warming up on Every Day I Have The Blues. They're not quite as awful on the other uptempo tunes. Okay, in the end, the reason to listen to this album is B.B. King and the audience, who are both on fire. The band and arrangements are mediocre at best. This scrapes by with a 3/5

Very good classic Blues.

That was a fine live album. His vocal range is quite impressive.

Supongo, no lo he hecho. Se me ocurre. Reconocimiento a la banda de BB King. Tight. Help the Poor.

Wat een soepele jazz. Heerlijk

good album, something i wouldnt mind listening to but not my go to album either

This album feels more like a tribute to the man and the concert than to the songs which comprise an album. Very good, nevertheless.

Very jazzy, but good background music

This isn't Miles but it's still good. Track 1: Jazz song. BB is charismatic and has a great voice. Track 2: Jazz song, but good stuff, more my thing. Very 'Barfly' with Mickey Rourke. Tells the story of how he wanted something but got something different. Lots of audience screaming. Track 3: These are simple and relatable songs but very formulaic. Of course, the formula was more or less perfected here. Some WICKED guitar at about 3:00. Track 4: Big hand for the other musicians, very considerate. A song about how women are bad. Track 5: Nice Dick Dale-esque start. Can't understand what he's saying, probably about how women are bad. Track 6: Greatest Hits of Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra. Women = bad. Track 7: This is like being trapped in a Scorsese movie. We follow the guy from 'Home Alone' as he walks through a casino and then shanks a guy. Track 8: This dude doesn't have a lot of luck with the ladies. Track 9: This sounds a lot like something I heard a few tracks back. Track 10: Actually good, my favourite track of the record. Reminds me of 'Down In The Hole'.

Influential no doubt

Fine - didn't dislike it, but probably wouldn't seek it out

Apparently 1965 was a little bit of a sexist time. Outside of that, How Blue Can You Get is awesome and the rest of the album definitely solid. I could go back and listen again.

Not too bad. Would listen if it was on.

As much as I tried to listen to this...I really couldn't push through. Not my jam but can appreciate the music stylings of this legendary blues artist.

classic blues, Holds all the vibes. Really takes you back to what the 60's concerts were like with the screaming girls and chit chatting to the crowd about relationships. Super chill. 3.5/5

Such a great album, except where he jokes about hitting women.

BB King is a great blues singer and guitarist. This is just a showcase of his work. His best album? No idea.

Was fine

Can’t really criticise can you?

Just fun rock/blues album!

Enjoyable.

Liked one or two songs but overall not my vibe

nice live album

got vibes, but this just ain’t for me

enjoyed

I expected going in I was going to like this more than I did. Not sure if it was te live recording or what

not my type

Was okay to listen too just wasn’t really my thing.
