So that’s what upside your head means. Oops.
Energetic blues
3.3 2nd 60s live album in a row, but to be fair I enjoyed this one more. Fidelity meant it wasn't the most accessible, but sounds like it would have been a class gig. Can really hear the Zeppelin influence in some of these, to the point you could argue some of the riffs on LZ1 were ripped off some of these. Not sure I'd have it on repeat, but a nice inclusion.
Credit where credit's due. If you can effectively mic up a venue to sound like you're actually there in the recording, and it's the mid 60s, you're a freak of an audio engineer. That said, this is a 10-track-long exercise in "how many ways can we make the 12 bar blues sound different?". I will not stand for anyone claiming modern music is far more formulaic and repetitive, even though it has got worse. Listen, I'd chuck this on in the background at a dinner, but far more revolutionary things were happening in the world of blues. Sorry B.B. 6.5/10 (again)
Good blues album - the voice is incredible, and the guitar sound is great, but for some reason it didn’t grab me like Muddy Waters at Newport did.
Wouldn't actively seek out again, but good blues
a masterclass in the blues.
BB King makes blues fun and interesting.
Buenos covers de John Mayer
3.5
1964, I remember it like yesterday. I got my first edition Ford Mustang and played the blues to my beautiful wife in it. We did some other stuff in that car which I wont expose on this website 🤪🤪. B.B king, what a guy and artist, Some say he is the king of blues. I loved this album and I love my wife.
3.5/5
That must have been a great concert. I'm afraid that as someone who wasn't there and listens to the recording over 60 years later, it loses a little of its otherwise certainly extraordinary effect. But the blues session I heard afterwards was nice. I also liked getting the hint to listen to B.B. King again. 3/5
Recognize the talent, not really my taste.
I don't generally like live records but understand that with jazz it makes sense. With blues, eh. Also I saw the film Sinners a few hours before we got assigned this record . It is the story of a blues musician in rural Mississippi whose family are cotton sharecroppers. Now I have to wonder if BB King's life was influenced by vampires.
I really like bb king, especially live, but it feels like there are better performances.
Classic. Der King ist halt der King
Meh
"I gave you seven children and now you wanna give them back" Wow, I'm loving this! Didn't really love the first song but everything after is just great! I love his energy, I love the guitar playing, I love everything. Besides the first song. Obviously.
solidno, zabavno, iako mi format uživo baš i ne leži
If this was a studio album I wouldn't have liked it much. Songs are much the same and I've never got into this kind of blues. But the live element and production make this a much better album. Lively.
i now like blues, really good but can’t stand the live album format, please love me is peak.
3.5
Blues is something that tires me. I don't find this bad at all but I'm just bored. It's all nice, the guitar playing especially is very fine but I'm always kinda thinking that "I thought I heard this song already". This sounds surprisingly good for a 60-year-old live album.
I like my blues a bit rawer, but nice live album. 3.5 stars
Live at the Regal is pretty good. It's a little to straightforward for my tastes, but I think B.B. is a great singer and guitarist, and definitely makes the most out of the material. It's a great sounding live album too. My favorites were "How Blue Can You Get?", "Woke Up This Mornin'" and "Help the Poor". 3.5 stars.
Good, I guess?
A pretty standard collection of blues tracks, greatly helped by King's charisma and some extra great tunes in Sweet Little Angel and It's My Own Fault. It's nothing outstanding, but it's fun to follow along to.
Very good blues. Generally not my thing, but got enough of a Fallout-core thing going on that I enjoy it a little more than most blues. The crowd reactions are great and his voice is fantastic.
some decent live performances from a legend. Blues is definitely great live.
Didn’t expect to ascertain the origin of a primitive radio gods sample today.
Yeah pre good blues Honestly It was a good album 💿
Good album. Great voice
blues isn't really my thing but i'll rate it Every Day I Have The Blues - 3/5 Sweet Little Angel - 5/5 It's My Own Fault - 4/5 How Blue Can You Get? - 4/5 Please Love Me - 4/5 You Upset Me Baby - 3/5 Worry, Worry - 4/5 Woke Up This Mornin' - 2/5 You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now - 3/5 Help The Poor - 4/5 Average score: 3.6/5 this guy was talented, and i liked this album alright. i'm just not a huge fan of blues as a genre, nor live albums for that matter
Banger yah
Ok
An artist and genre that mostly kind of passes me by. I didn't dislike anything BB's doing here, but it's just not a record I'd ever be excited to listen to again. 2.5/3
Not my jam.
Liked the rhythm but songs felt like copies of one another. Help the poor favourite track
La inceput a parut plictisitor . Apoi melodia 2 ,3 a schimbat parerea
A good blues album. Lots of verve and energ, but not too original. 3.4
Album is good but music requires a specific mood to be in.
Nice swingy jazzy album loved the soul in the music and the voice
good
Very smooth sounding.
Love the banter, blues can be a bit repetitive but bb king is an insane player and so charming that it never gets old.
61/1089 - This is the best blues album I've heard. All the songs are structurally pretty identical but feel different enough and nicely varied because of the different tempos and textural choices of the musicians.
5/10 I don't like live albums. I really want to like it but... 3-27-2025
Obviously an iconic artist but this album did not really resonate with me.
Look, BB King is a legend. And I loved learning and playing blues when I learned guitar. But I don't think I've purposefully put on a blues record in years. Just not for me.
i will be honest i don’t know if i gave it a fair chance
Good
This was better than I expected. I’m not much for blues music, I usually find it boring. I expected this just to be a guy playing guitar and singing. He had a full band with horns and everything, and as always, plus one for horns. That said, even with the extra instruments it was still dull at times.
Good but no standouts
I like jazz more than blues i gotta say. Stroong 3 tho
Not a fan of the style.
[3]
Have never truly loved Blues, but this is probably about as good as it can get, for me at least.
Enjoyed this. Simpsons: Yes
Pleasant enough, but nothing particularly memorable for me. Maybe need to listen to more blues music to really appreciate it.
It was ok. Solid mid table
I love and respect the influence King has had on music but this didn’t do all that much for me. Felt very disjointed for a live album.
Så bra låtar, men blues album som i detta fall börjar bli lite sammiga
The king of the blues!
incredible energy
Ok, but not really one for me
Good jazz. Wouldn’t add any to my playlist thoigh
As good as blues gets.
B.B. rocks up the blues along with straight traditional renditions. Have seen B.B. on his "I am ancient now" tour and danced onstage with his daughter in a tiny blues bar in Louisville - it's always a party and this is apretty good one.
This was fast and fun. I'm not super into the blues but I can appreciate BB King's obvious talent.
It was fine. The performances were next level. Rating: 3.0
Some solid riffs and solo's on the guitar. I'm not a big blues guy at all but after listening to this I can see where blokes like Hendrix got inspired. Overall a solid album. Wasnt the biggest fan of the live fans screaming over the good bits.
rating this as what it is for me — i know this is historically, musically so important and it’s good! i just don’t think i’ll listen again
2.5/5
Enjoyable and upbeat - probs between a 3 and 3.5
point2.
Pretty cool in all honesty, blues isn't always my kind of thing but its hard to dislike what's going on with this album. Even in 1965 BB King's sound is modern with an impressive combination of clean guitar playing and walls of trumpeted sound filling the air. This is made even more impressive with the fact that it's all done live. Mr King is known as the best guitar player of the blues and that's clear to see here, tracks such as 'Sweet Little Angel' and 'Please Love Me' in particular I found to be what I'd say were the coolest tracks for me. Cool really is the best way to describe this album's essence with the incredibly smooth instrumentation present on this album. If I were to have a critique I would say some of the songs can sound quite 'samey' but that's really not as harsh of a critique as I like what is being played. Cool 7/10 Top Tracks -> Sweet Little Angel -> Please Love Me -> How Blue Can You Get
never actively listened to blues, but immediately caught my attention super swingy, good vibes reminds me of papa playing guitar mainly good background music though - would not be able to point out one specific song - not saying it’s bad
This album was good, but I just do not like live albums generally. I'll probably listen to the studio version of each of these songs though. They sounded nice, the cheering is just distracting.
Would have been a 4 if it were a live performance, I'm sure
This was an inoffensive album. The music, singing and lyrics were OK, and if it was in the background or a live band playing quietly in the corner of a restaurant then that's ok with me, but listening to it all in one session was a bit too much.
No one does 12 bar blues like bb and this as a live experience shows his brilliance
I've always known OF B.B. King, but never knew ANY B.B. King. This album was a very cool listen, and "how blue can you get" goes hard, but I'll probably never seek out this album again. Just didn't have anything that really hooked me.
Blues Music is based on strict adherence to common structures and cliche instrumental licks. B.B. King is a fine guitar player, singer, and band leader. But, he remains constrained by the I-IV-V chord progression and the portion of the minor Blues scale that defines his style. His performance here is emotive and well-played. Unfortunately, nothing on this record breaks new ground or establishes itself as essential.
I am so thankful that I got to see B.B. live. He was a national treasure.
A really good example of the blues. It's still Blues though. Too formulaic, very little vocal melody. It's tough to rate because his voice is amazing and the band is great, but... Blues, man.
I bet being at this show was legendary! There's only so much blues I can listen to, even if its B.B. King.
sure hell yeah
Voix puissante, expressive et charismatique qui insuffle une personnalité à ce genre plus formaté
Enjoyable
Listening to his songs are really fun but I'm never going to add these kinds of songs to any playlist. I don't know if I got bored while listening to it because I don't like listening to albums or because all the songs sound too similar. I mean the instrumentals are great and he has a really good voice. But this style of music is not something that I would go out of my way to listen to
Good
Esta bien, suena bien, pero no se nada de blues para darte una opinion a profundidad, ni me veo escuchando esto en un futuro proximo 7/10
eh, it’s alright
Pre-listening thoughts: thinking about how when we played Anomia, Mom's answer for any artist was always B.B. King for some reason Post/during listening thoughts: this is solid stuff. If there was a 3.5 star option that's where I'd put it. I'm not the biggest fan of the blues just because it tends to get repetitive, and this album is no exception. However, B.B. King has a really fantastic voice with a lot of power and emotion carried in it. I would have enjoyed seeing this live. 6.5/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: not sure Fav tracks: Help the Poor, Please Love Me Least fav tracks: didn't dislike any of it but a lot of it mushed together
Listen more B.B.King
quintessential blues album w an awesome flair for the dramatic. the lyrics are melodramatic at times, jubilant at others, but it’ll make ur foot tap and head bob either way. makes u want to go out and dance in dress shoes w someone
Wow he’s pretty crude. Didn’t realize that. Not fond of blues.
Heheh I was imagining b b stands for big boob the whole time Idiot.
Good vibes, background
I have always struggled with live albums and it's needs to really blow me away or the crowd actually benefit the performance for me to enjoy it....this didn't it's fine
还不错
Pretty good songs, good tempo and nice listening
This is the highest rating I will ever give a live album.... B.B. King is a legend. This would be 5 stars if it wasn’t live.
3.4 2x catch up 1/2/25
so when i thought about blues, the stuffs that automatically came to my brain is: "Yer Blues" by the beatles, a sort of parody on the genre. The Birthday Party, my new favourite band which, in theory, is a post punk band that is influenced by blues and noise rock. and there are all the memes. And early rolling stones. and late rolling stones. and me playing "gimme shelter" over and over on spotify. and this album... it did makes me very blue. but i'm always blue, actually. it's... emotional. and it's good to go blue before a manchester city match. although they are playing against leicester city who is also blue, by the way. oops... i was thinking about some other things. 3/5
Nice hearing him when he was younger, I've mainly listened to his older man blues, which I dig
Quite enjoyed this one. Too many live albums on this list.
Talented musicians - annoying crowd noises.
Pretty nice spin of blues on this one.
My failure to see the appeal of live albums continues.
It's lovely classic rock n' roll. Great vibe, but I do find the 12 bar blues-type stuff a little bit limited in scope when it's across a whole record. Still, excellent stuff.
Så där. Det är ju bra musicerande som vanligt. Men det är lite tråkigt.
Not really my style. Just meh. 3 stars
BBKing had legendary status in my house growing up…but it seems like a time capsule now. Certainly my time for this sort of blues has passed (I think when I was 15 or so). Interestingly this is the basis for most of our modern guitar sound and so homage to BB, but it’s not my jam for listening.
Some great moments and undoubtedly one of the greatest blues players of all time. I just didn’t (and dont) find straight forward blues that enjoyable at the moment. So great that this moment in history was captured and a perfect t example of blues, just not one I’ll be revisiting any time soon.
順順聽過去的一張專輯,並沒有特別奇怪的點吸引我,但是很舒服。
Usually don't go for live albums, but I enjoyed this one
With these old blues records you kind of know what you're gonna get, so not many surprises here. Still a decent listen but feels like I've heard it 5 times before. 5/10
I enjoyed it a lot.
Pretty solid but didn't wow me
Blues legend? Sounds like it. Live album, boooooo.
I don’t like live albums and I really don’t like blues… but this was surprisingly enjoyable. Not sure what to do with life anymore at this point.
Cool live album. Standout songs: How blue can you get You upset me baby
Clearly an excellent performance and 10 out of 10 would want to go back in time and be there in person. Listening on recording in 2024, it's a 5 on the appreciation scale but a 3 on the enjoyment scale.
This was fun. Three stars.
Good, as with all other Blues I bet it was better in person
Favorite tracks: Every Day I Have The Blues; Worry, Worry Per Wikipedia, the album was recorded on Nov. 21, 1964 (60 years, almost exactly!). The Regal Theatre closed down four years later, and was ultimately demolished in 1973. That's wild, right? I really enjoyed the crowd feedback on this one. It feels so lively, even still. I know nothing about blues music, but maybe I oughta learn. 3 1/2 stars.
3s across the board. Not offensive or spectacular.
нравится исполнитель, у него есть песни которые мне очень нравятся, но из этого альбома ничего не добавила :(
This is probably a 5 based on influence and importance. But I don't give points for that. Nevertheless, it has an aura to it that draws me in. And the guitar sounds amazing. Those bends. I don't know if I'll ever be a huge blues guy, but this is a cool record.
B.B King of the blues
I had a lot of fun with this one. I don’t consider myself to be vey knowledgeable of BB King’s music but I liked it all while we put up Christmas decorations
Pretty good!
Nice bluesy album. B.B. King was such a great blues artist. I liked this one even though I don’t listen to blues that much.
221/1001 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
i love the blues and bb can really play a guitar, but like a lot of blues, it feels like the same song over and over. its fun at times, its silly, its got some old fashioned views that are stale, but i can enjoy it. i wouldnt seek it out. good soloing bruv.
wouldn't listen often , but glad i did. . Doesn't outstay its welcome and a surprising amount of energy for the blues. 3
Det er da fint nok. Men jeg manglede noget charme, og måske lidt vildskab.det blev lidt kedeligt.
En udenærket blueskoncert
Yep, sure, talented act, talented band - but live. I don't need to hear the whoops and cheers. Boo.
Pretty good! Three stars!
First time listening. Highlights: the falsetto. I wasn’t aware.
Not bad. 100 times better than Jazz. Some songs worked, some a bit too slow for me
Ok
A couple of standout songs, but don’t listen to enough of this style to even hear differences between some of them.
The Good: King of the Blues live! The Bad: live albums can be a little too exciting than reality showed it to be. The Ugly: this album will make you blue... I love me some BB, and thankfully the album isn't too long. Probably the best live version of How Blue Can You Get? 3* because of the above
You've got the blueeeees. This is a decent blues, although not exactly my kind of, that's why it's getting just 3 stars. Everybody knows B.B. King, he is the blues. Long live the blues.
I liked it!! I think the live aspect was one of my favorite parts. The crowd gets into it which helped me get into it. Idk lol. Not usually my genre of music, but I enjoyed my time with this one
I mean it's fine and everything but that's it, just fine 🤘
BB’s ringing guitar signifies the blues, his gravelly voice just adds to the vibe. You can hear the influence he had on the likes of Clapton and Stevie Ray. Sounds like a great night out, it was an easy listen. Comes in at (4.2*s) for J. Not as easy or enjoyable for L at (1.5*s)
The King of the Blues. Sjukt svängig och helt fan tas tisk elgitarr. Favoriten från albumet är "Woke up this mornin"
Primitive Radio Gods sample
Cool Chicago blues.
I used to listen to blues quite a lot but never much to BB King, always found him a bit boring compared to my favourites (JL Hooker, Johnny Winter, Howlin' Wolf, Roland Van Campenhout, etc.). This feeling was confirmed with this album. It's all typical (cliché?) 12-bar blues with each taking turns for quite predicable solos. I hadn't heard any of the songs, yet I felt like I heard them 100 times before already. On the plus side, I can see that IF this is your thing, this album does it very well. BB King's singing and guitar playing are good and there is a nice live vibe. But I think the status of this album probably relies on its legacy more than the music itself. So "must hear before you die"? Probably yes. "More than once?", for me a no.
not the best bbking album
Another live album. Pretty standard, met my expectations for what this would sound like.
Didn’t really enjoy the live recording for this. Not really my thinf
5/10 - I mean it sounded old timey. I have talked about this before but live albums are just not as good simply bc of the audience yelling the whole time. It was fine.
It was fine
It's a solid listen. Nothing next level though.
classic
Ну норм. Прикольно визжит. Панч в одном из треков интересный. Но в какой-то момент стало надоедать, что Биби повторяет строчки по 2 раза и что во всех треках одинаковые мотивы.
hey little girl, I wanna be your boyfriend
jo hintergrundmusik für mich, aber nicht schlecht
There are enough good parts to this for 3 stars or C.
i enjoyed it, a good blues album, however the fact that it's live kinda bothered me
Not a great interest in blues but liked the continuation and its clearly a special album for those who enjoy the genre.
Great blues but heard this song and dance before.
It was aii
Fun listen. It’s a live album which are never my favorite.
BB King is a legend, but this live albums is just ok
01) Every Day I Have the Blues - 6,5 02) Sweet Little Angel - 6,0 03) It's My Own Fault - 6,0 04) How Blue Can You Get - 6,5 05) Please Love Me - 6,0 06) You Upset Me Baby - 6,0 07) Worry, Worry - 6,0 08) Woke Up This Mornin' - 6,0 09) You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now - 6,5 10) Help the Poor - 6,0 TOTAL: 6,15 (62/100) Current ranking: 228/286 I'm not really a fan of live albums, nor of blues as a genre. I believe this is the best the blues has to offer, but for me it's just enough for three stars.
Nice for cooking
It was alright but I did expect something more from BB King
Nice enough album but it didnt click for me He sounded very good live though 3 ⭐️
Solidly enjoyable blues. Not something I’d revisit often because it didn’t have any standout track, but I’d gladly listen to it if it was on the stereo sometime.
The music is great. I just don't enjoy live performance recordings as much as live studio albums.
I wanted to love it but it was boring. Nothing grabbed me. It was fine I’ll never listen again. Safe three stars.
What´s not to love about B.B. King, the man is a legend! Blues is the granddaddy of rock and metal so, major respect to the man!
Live music is cool
Heck yeah, live blues time. Definitely more my style than yesterday's selection. When we got streaming music, we certainly gained more than we lost, but we lost the art of album order. This is one of those albums you absolutely cannot, should not listen to on shuffle willy nilly. Song Stuck in my head for the rest of the day: None. The whole album just kinda blends together to me, but that's fine.
Blues is a little boring to me
Not the biggest fans of the blues but the dude can play. I saw it first hand at Bonnaroo. Legend.
3.5/5 - I am slowly falling in love with the blues genre and I am SO excited about it
This was ok. Never been a big fan of B.B. King.
Endnu en koncert jeg godt gad, at have været med til.
Yes, very nice guitar work BB. No, I'm not finding this especially interesting. Also, stop giving us live albums from the sixties, the quality is uniformly awful.
I don’t really like the blues but dammit I like this album for some reason.
Blues isn't my thing, but this was a good, energetic performance all around. Also shockingly high quality for 1965
soulful blues record, sounded great, amazing voice, nice tracks, nice and short, not too bad
Very enjoyable and energetic! Probably like a 3.5!
Short album - went by quickly. Standard live recording - sounded good, but didn't strike me as spectacular.
I love BB King. The live album wasn’t my favorite listen…would be better-live
This is my first time checking out B.B. King. You can feel the vibe and practically see what it would have been like to be there at that show. I really need to get more into blues in general. I love when artists incorporate blues influences into their music because it adds a raw, gritty feel. With this album, you’re going straight to the source of that raw energy and grit.
That's not my taste in musik. But ok.
first time listening to B.B.King. Bring memories of TV channels broadcasting his recorded concerts (TV Manchete in the 1990´s). Not really acquainted with his music - need to read and find out more about him. Live album captures well the atmosphere of black music of his time. Lots of cheering!!
Pretty fun to listen to. Great singer. Nothing special with the lyrics, but interesting guitar solos. I like music I can make a movie to in my mind, and this fits the bill. Pretty good overall.
Decent album.
It's good, of course it is, it's BB King. But live albums are always a bit of a meh to me. 3 stars
Sound album. Great voice
How blue can one get after encountering this live album B.B. King? Apparently less. Live at the Regal captures B.B. at his very best, as he approaches his repertoire with the seasoned touch that made him amongst the most admired and imitated (but never duplicated) guitarists of his generation. His vocal chops, as well, is often a delight to hear as well. Short and sweet but it wouldn't have hurt for it to be longer. Favorites: Every Day I Have the Blues, It's My Own Fault, How Blue Can You Get?, You Upset Me Baby, Woke Up This Mornin', You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now.
This is lovely. I should listen to more blues.
un clásico
Good
This was a pleasant listen. B.B. is a legend for sure and he knows how to command a room. He has a relaxed confident delivery and I enjoy his conversational bridges between songs, great flow. I enjoyed it but don’t see it making the higher marks as it does in some circles. 3.5/5 rounding down just because while a decent listen, nothing really grabbed me enough to revisit this particular album.
Usually cited as one of the three “Kings” for founding the blues sound, B.B. is in full swing on this record. And yet while this was a pleasant enough record to listen to, I don’t understand why this one in particular makes all the top lists. The more upbeat boogie woogie numbers were much more enjoyable than the slow paint drying 12-bar blues ones. B.B. doing B.B. Just not a style I will seek out nor return to.
It was ok. Probably not quite rocking enough for my tastes. First song is a lot of fun.
nice
Interessante, ma niente di più
I enjoyed this one! Don't listen to a lot of blues usually.
Fun little live album, forgotten a soon as it was done.
Blues icon that influenced all the 60's rock guitar gods. I never really choose to listen to blues much, but I don't mind it and I have had some fun nights out at blues bars in the past. The blues is kind of like my grandpa: rooted in the South, often repetitive, and sometimes old-fashioned and hard to relate to. Yet I, like the music I love, literally wouldn't be here without it/him. Since the blues is such an influential genre, historically, and since B.B. King is one of the most accomplished and renowned bluesmen, I agree that it was indeed worthwhile to listen to this album before I die, to hear him sing and play "Lucille" to appreciative fans in Chicago. Many of the standard blues topics are represented here: despair, loneliness, abandonment, domestic turbulence, loathing, violence. Clearly there was a shortage of mental health resources in the Mississippi Delta. Actually, maybe for some, writing and singing and listening to the blues *was* the therapy. "How Blue Can You Get?" - I recognize this one from it being sampled in that Primitive Radio Gods song from the 90s. The band sounded good and the recording was clear. I got a kick out of hearing the audience on this one. Their enthusiasm and participation reminded me of the audiences at the Apollo theater in Harlem. That and Mr. King's banter between and during songs brought out the live atmosphere and made me feel like I was part of the crowd. 3.5
His guitar playing and his voice are amazing. The background chatter from the crowd is great too. I was only familiar with the little bit from "How Blue Can You Get?" that was sampled by Primitive Radio Gods. I would love to hear this more, but so far I didn't hear enough to bump it above a 3.
Not bad!
Electric blues tends to be a lot better with horns and when you've got B.B. King on it instead of a sad imitator could do without ever hearing Sweet Little Angel again though. music: appreciated. (⌐■_■)
When I saw this was from 1964 I thought “oh wow, a young BB King!” I did not know this man was born in 1925! He was already middle aged! Anyway, very cool listen. I like BB.
B.B. King is a worthy inclusion on this list. But I wonder about a live album. There really isn't much gained by this being a live album. It's a slightly worse mixed regular album with a bit of crowd scream. It wasn't a bad album, but it wasn't necessarily one I'd choose for this list. He's got several better albums out there.
Definitely prefer the first half over the second but overall still a solid live blues album.
On How Blue Can You Get? The crowd reactions to each of B.B.’s. lines had me thinking of the Vince McMahon meme. It was hilarious how the became more and more enthusiastic and then he drops the line about how his lady wants to give him all 7 kids back, I’m pretty certain I heard some women’s head explode in exuberance. The hilarity of the over the top crowds reactions is not enough to bring me back to this live album. There was some skilled blues for sure but it was too much of the same throughout. 3 stars
Passionate but not my thing. Hesitating between 2 and 3 stars for my enjoyment of this.
I actually have this in my collection, but it has been a while since I have listened to it. All the reasons to love BB: the understated yet soulful guitar, the powerful vocals on lyrics such as “ I gave you seven children, and now you want to give them back” Is it wrong to smile when listening to the blues
B. B. King is clearly a great entertainer and I liked this album as well as all his commentary throughout. The live aspect also added to the album, lots of crowd enthusiasm. It's yet another album about endless relationship problems but it's the blues so why not? Listens: 1 Fave Track: How Blue Can You Get Rating: 3
Good, but its a 30 minute live album. No idea how you could point to this and say "greatest 1000 albums" over King's studio work.
B.B. Kang!
Ihan hyvä blues keikka.
Lotta charisma on this guy! Three and a half. Fave track: Help the Poor

Good ole fashioned bluesy blues. Live album - Why?
There are so many artists who could be considered the true “king of blues”. It’s not as definitive as with somebody like Michael Jackson, who everyone sort of agrees was the king of pop. But with the way this album sounds, I’m pretty inclined to believe that B.B. King was actually the king of blues. I mean it’s in his name for god’s sake. Only knowledge I had of this man before today was that my parents saw him in concert in like 2005. He showed up two hours late to the show because of health issues. But back in 1965? This man was in his prime. This is one of those live albums where the sounds of the crowd being left in actually adds to the experience. The audience loves him so much, and you can hear how rabid they really were. Definitely adds to the energy of the performances. But beyond all of that, King is actually a remarkable performer. And far better than I imagined him to be. His insane and powerful vocal displays that just wrap you in combined with his skillful guitar playing basically defines what blues music of this era should sound like. Plus the brass parts were unexpected. But always a bonus. It almost adds a level of jazziness to the music, which makes it all the more appealing to me. This is probably one of the few blues albums I’ve heard from this far back that stuck out to me as something worth remembering. Rating: 6/10
Yeah very cool back ground for me. I like the bits of stand up he did in between.
Most of the songs sounded very similar to each other, which is probably more a reflection of the genre than the album, but I checked out after the 3rd song or so. He's a great singer, he's got a good band, and this is probably one of the best blues albums, but I don't really need a full blues album in my life. Favorite Song: How Blue Can You Get?
It was decent. Top 1000? Probably, 1000 is quite a lot.
Never really checked him out before and I was delighted to hear a small but real influence he must have had on Hendrix 's guitar playing. I generally prefer my blues raw and raucous but this is solid for what it is.
...
This was a lot more upbeat than I was expecting for a blues record. Sort of confusingly so! I had a good time with this, but nothing really got into my bones as I was listening to it.
Really liked it, cute :)
Ska in denial
Good quality blues, but this is too much of a good thing.
One of the greatest blues guitarist, singers of all time. All others follow his ways.
good blues album
I enjoyed this project more than I expected. I didn't think much of it assuming this was an ordinary live blues record. Boy, was I wrong. I was captivated throughout the entire thing (except for the last two songs). I feel this album and I will have a great relationship together. We just have to get to know each other more.
I met BB King once and he wasn’t very nice. Fortunately his music is ok
one of those rare times i wish an album was longer. not because i just loved it so much that i needed more, but because it felt like there wasn’t enough here. that being said, what is here i enjoyed. BB King is mostly known for this guitar work, but i don’t think i realized what a great voice he had. and i loved the audience’s energy. i had no idea the girlies went crazy for BB…. good for him! 3.5
A fine album. 3.5, if it were an option.
Really does feel like a relic from a different time. Never been a huge blues guy but there is something truly comfy about this record.
I think the first BB King album I heard was Live In Cook County Jail which I would rate a solid 4 stars. This one was nice but I liked the energy, vibe and the performances in Cook County better. 3.5/5
Love the sound. The lyrics of the songs aren’t really a standout here / feel pretty generic
good music - blues is not one of my favorites
I think that blues is really one of those genres that benefits from being a live performance. The energy of the band and audience really comes through during this recording. Other than that it felt like a pretty standard blues album, a good listen but nothing too memorable. Sure it's a bit repetitive but it still a really nice groove.
Quite funky in some places
Oh baby I hear the blues a'calling...
Live album 3/5
This was fine. I thought the stage banter was pretty good.
I was really looking forward to this when it generated, I was not disappointed! Awesome live blues music, only complaint is it wasn’t long enough!
I'm ashamed to say that the B. B. King work that I'm most familiar with is that commercial that he did for the diabetes test strips. You know, the one where he talks about how pricking his finger all the time impacts his ability to play the guitar. And then he says something about how a guitar can't play the blues unless it's been in a pawn shop. Good stuff. By the way, how do I remember stuff as inconsequential as commercials? Anyway, on to the album. I feel like it's tough to accurately judge a live album when you're unfamiliar with the artist, but I thought this album was pretty good. King is a fantastic guitarist, and he and his band were playing their hearts out on these songs. I read in my brief research that King only wrote four of these tracks, but he played and sang them all as if he had lived them. I loved the way he worked the crowd, and the crowd reactions felt like their own instrument in a way. The album sounded great too, just in terms of pure recording quality, which was nice for a live album from this era. I think my biggest complaint is that some of the songs were a tad boring, and not being familiar with the artist's music kind of took me out of the live aspect a bit. This was still a good album though, and I'd go back and revisit B. B. King's music some day.
Was okay.
Appreciated B.B.'s voice more than his guitar on this one. And the audience was into it. Nice listen.
Fin plade, som virker ret repræsentativ i forhold til hvad B.B. King står for og hvordan jeg husker hans lyd.
Enjoyable enough. Not my favorite style of blues but a decent range of tempos. Liked "Help The Poor" a lot in particular.
Didn't listen
Incredible recording and super tight performances by the band and B.B. especially.
3.3 I have great appreciation for the influence of B.B. King and the guitar playing is great. The album is meh.
I really liked the transitions between songs that made the album flow together really well in a continuous way. It was neat to hear him interact with the crowd in between songs. I don't particularly like blues music in general since there's a lot of repetition and doesn't seem to get too deep lyrically, but it was a nice change from what I'd usually listen to.
It’s a good blues album. There were no stand out tracks to me.
King is obviously a legend and sounds great but not my personal cup of tea
I like the blues genre because of the instrumentals associated with it, not really because of the lyrics. This album is the perfect example of that. It has excellent, second-to-none instruments with meh lyrics. It has a good singing voice, though.
How would this one sound with modern live-recording-technology even it is already that good.
I wanted more guitar. B.B minus
Pretty solid but not something I would play again.
good chillin outside on a fall night kind of music
A nice ramble through some classic blues. I do prefer Otis Rush, and the other 2 Kings but you can't deny BB's influence, graceful playing and audience bonhomie. This is probably a lot more important than it sounds, but there's not much to complain about. A really warm enjoyable live album with great atmosphere.
3.6
Nice but after a full day of repetition definitely stayed in the background.
So infectious
I think for the time (1965) this release was pretty monumental. I have no hate for the blues, and he does great service to all the songs. But really a recording like this gets pretty stale really quick. There's only so many ways you can do the same 12 bar blues before it gets tedious.
Slow and blusey
It's great, I mean it's B.B. King, legendary blues musician who inspired and continues to inspire generations of guitarists. This Live album isn't particularly moving for me, though I'm sure I would have been blown away if I were in attendance.
Short but sweet. Audiences in them days were rowdy.
B. B. King halt. Habe ihn durch "King of the Blues" kennengelernt, das ist etwas "eingängiger"
Fantastic jazz but the audience is too loud and the sound quality is not great because it's pre 70s.
You can almost feel the excitement in the room in 1964, watching blues brilliance play out on stage. Sure, to us constant 12-bar blues may seem boring, but there is something especially mellow about listening to this live album on a Sunday morning, King's soft guitar tone pulsing in the background
This early Bb King is Lot earthier and raw than the later stuff I usually associate with him. I like it.
Like hootenany. Bet her got some fanny though.
A relatively mild listening experience that I would enjoy occasionally, however, I do not see this being a must-listen-to every single day. I still enjoyed it though!
Fun blues concert, but would have been better to just be there.
Pretty cool
This was okay. He is an excellent showman and gave a great performance. The problem, for me, is that blues isn't really my thing. I'm glad that I listened to it, but doubt I will every listen to it again.
El rey
Nice live album, the crowd noise even enhances it; would have been great to hear it in person, sounds like everyone was having a great time. Was not familiar with any of the songs, although I did know BB King was a big name in blues.
2.5 - I can feel the passion and talent in this. He puts on a good performance, but live albums usually aren't my thing, and it's not the type of music I usually listen to, so I feel that a 2.5 is the best I can give it.
Some boyo
Not a big blues fan and while this is really solid, it just doesn't do anything for me. Loved when he sang, I gave her 7 kids, she gave em back!
I'm not a big fan of blues, but this album wasn't so bad.
