Kind of forgettable
ZZ Top was one of the first bands I saw live (2008 Orange Bowl halftime show) but I had no idea who they were.
its a fine rock album. honestly better than I expected it to be but still nothing crazy to write home about
Fun album. I recognized most of the songs.
Fun fact about ZZ Top! The drummer's name is Brain Good-At-Writing-Songs, which is so ironic because this band sucks.
Car driving music!
First time listening: 3/11 songs liked I kind of assumed like their first album, they'd be a little more bluesy? Their hard rock is EXTREMELY mundane and repetitive. I'm sure there's a time and place for it somewhere in the heart of texas, but not for me sir. 1 songs saved
I went into this album thinking I wasn’t a ZZ Top fan. And I went out realizing that was still true. This album has its moments and its good in its own way. I don’t really enjoy how just about every song is about the objectification of a woman.
The sound of the 80's
Surprisingly enjoyable. Good, hard R&R. Useful to drown out sounds of roommate hanky panky.
barndom ..
I'm enjoying this more than I expected!
Listening to this, it seems so unlikely that these guys were as big as they were in the 80s. But the songs are generally pretty good. Also, when I hear the song Legs, I picture a video where a woman is going around, kicking guys in the nuts. So, extra star.
ZZ Flop
Paar Banger drauf. Album ist okay. Mehr Bart wäre wünschenswert
Not too bad. Some songs better than others. Some were fun like "Sharp Dressed Man"
shit
Pleasantly surprised! Makes me want to explore more ZZ top.
Fast women, faster cars. It was certainly a different era.
1st thought: dang sharp dressed man has one crunchy riff! 2nd thought: wait a second all these songs have the same goddamn riff... 3rd thought: zz top is the plebeian choice of dad music to steely dan's patrician. 4th thought: i am putting this album into a category i hereby dub 'guitar center core'
Some great tracks, some duds too. There are better ZZ Top albums but always worth dipping into
Great fun
I love Billy Gibbons (I was just listening to 'La Grange' the other day). He's an incredible guitarist, great vocalist, great songwriter, and a wonderful showman (in the most positive sense of the word). I do like this album and a lot of ZZ Top's work. When an artist (or anyone, really) is genuinely having fun at what they do, it's infectious. I lean more towards their more raw, "dirty blues" stuff because I do that generally when it comes to blues-based rock, but this is a fun album.
Classic blues guitar rock. Reminds of a dingy bar filled with smoke.
Good album
noooooo!!!!!!
Gimmie All Your Lovin' is a banger. Remember that from the GTA IV days. Oof. Got Me Under Pressure, sounds like a groovy trucker tune. Excellent guitar work. Sharp Dressed Man sounds like a reworked version of Gimmie All Your Lovin', not the most creative effort on the record. Still got a groove, no doubt. I Need You Tonight, a slow pit stop from the rest of the album. Calm little jam. Definitely one for the fluffer mix. I Got The Six brilliant energy reinforcer. Legs also brilliant. Nice ballad. Thug, interesting bass work. Very trucker funk. I like it. TV Dinners is a steady tune. Dirty Dog makes me wonder if they know any other timings for their guitar work.... If I Could shows some variation...nice Bad Girl sounds a little...repetitive. Funny to say after most of the album is repetitive guitar work, but solid mixes and tunes overall.
There’s a reason they needed the long beard gimmick. Imma marking them up a point just for the quality of guitar work, which is the redeeming quality of this album, though not enough to ever make me listen to it again.

You've got to love "Gimme all your lovin'", it's such a classic. Really enjoyed this whole album although I didn't expect to.
Respeito menos mas é mais a minha.
Love this album. One of the first vinyls I had in high school.
A guilty pleasure album for sure. Not a bad song on it, but the music isn't that great. It feels artificial somehow. I was very surprised to learn this was 80s music. It feels very 70s but with 80s production. I feel bad giving it a 3, but does it earn a 4? It's a 3.75.
Nice pick. I liked it just fine.
Worst one yet, got bored with it on whilst working
Damn. This is a quality album that clearly shows off ZZ Top’s iconic style. A lot of great hits and a great overall album.
Gimme all your Lovin' ist ein schöner Klassiker. Stabile Bärte und stabiler Sound. Ansonsten wenig Überraschungen. Kann man mal gut beim Autofahren hören.
Macht Lust auf eine neue Staffel Peaky Blinders.
Not very exciting, background music
80s timepiece - such an odd combination of Dire Straits, Status Quo and Lynard Skynard with some comically bad slap bass and questionable lyrics (2/5)
I Need You Tonight is a great song. Decent album, would listen to again.
Very Good
So cool
Great album!
Pretty much the same tacky bogan music I expected before listening to this album. It’s so dated...and not in a good way. 1 Star!
Quite enjoyed it, especially Gary!
Mostly dull, but 2 very catchy songs. Never really got in tune with ZZ.
3.5/5 I'll have to relisten, although it's kind of interesting!
Awesome
I'm finding it difficult to form an opinion for this album, I think I liked it but I don't see myself ever listening to it again so...
It was too rocky. Not my vibe anymore.
Only had time for one listen. Quite good, fun-sounding rock music.

Simppeli resepti. Homma lähtee kitarariffillä ja sitten rummut ja basso ihan normaalisti. Texasin Kotiteollisuus. Kolme ajatonta hittiä, mutta loput levystä aikalailla täytettä. Tai same old same mutta vähän eri mausteilla.
Classic, high energy, all around good time.
Top-notch blues riffage; but lyrics as deep as a kiddie-pool
Great rockin album. Three or four songs that got WAY too much airplay, but the rest of the songs are strong.
Deece. A low 3
All the hits, lots of fun and does what it says on the tin.
Perusrokkia Ameriikasta.
Enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I was flirting with 4 stars, but the second half was less impressive than the first. 7/10
Good fun.
Good fun! Some bangers. Between a 3 and a 4. Gonna go with.... hmmm a 3.

Is “I got the six” about a size queen looking for a gay hookup?
false

Some of this could be brilliant but needs to lose the synthesisers and the ridiculously clean production. Would probably be great without those.
Meh
Very riff heavy songs a fun listen
Too much white noise.
3.6 - Fun, bouncy blues rock with some synth elements to modernize the sound for 1983. Some of their biggest hits are here - "Sharp Dressed Man", "Gimme All Your Lovin'", "Legs." Also some throwaway tracks, notably "TV Dinners", which sounds like it was written by a 9 year old.

Second album in a row that absolutely rips. The first few beats of the drum track that kicks off 'Gimme All Your Lovin'' is a free shot of dopamine every time. I think the songwriting is one point, the guitar playing is chewy, and Gibbons' rough voice contrasts wonderfully with the buzz and whoosh of the synths. They never really cracked it again properly, in my estimation - not totally - but as a synthesis of Texas boogie and new wave instrumentation, this was unique and never bettered.
This album is very common and easy to listen to. I know that it should be considered a great rock album for 83, but nowadays, the age came and it just an ok album.
Top
all of their songs sound too much the same to me
This sounds like rock music
Pretty good
Well, nice listening that guitars and the distorsion, but seeing the videos on MTV make a great difference
Is this a song about TV dinners? Did I accidentally switch to a Weird Al album? Not quite my jam. The spotify radio that came on after the album was pretty solid though.
Grand for the background. Some good riffs.
An awesome rock album that blends blues with 80s dance music, creating timeless radio hits and fun.
The first ‘whole’ ZZ Top album I’ve listened to. The hits are SO good. The non hits are SO forgettable. All balances out.
Good upbeat jams to listen to

Pretty mellow, pretty good.
I occassionally think Gimme All Your Lovin' is Huey Lewis. Whoops.
Not the kind of music I'd listen to on a daily basis, or ever, as a matter of fact. I'm just not a fan of blues-rock in general. However, I still think this album is interesting due to its production history, the fact that it was the first ZZ Top album made using synths and drum machines plus guitars and that it was basically just Billy Gibbons and the producer in the studio, while Dusty Hill and Frank Beard did almost nothing.
Fun record. Love their sound, even if a lot of tracks blend together.
I can't really take ZZ Top seriously... The best songs in the albums are singles that have become memes from 80s movies and classic rock stations. The worst, like I Need You Tonight, sound like Dirk Diggler trying to make an album.
While not ZZ Top's best album (personally that honor goes to "Degüello") this album rocketed them to huge commercial success, and was my first album of theirs. it has arguably their biggest hits, and some stinkers, but overall a very good album.
i liked it but nothing extraordinary
Pretty good!
Enjoyed. It made me think of the tv show Bones. Would listen again
Fantastic listen; a lot of very good songs packed in here.
Not the worst hair metal I’ve heard
Fun classic rock and roll
one good single
Bangin
Something was lost from their older stuff. This is too polished, too... 80s, but in a bad way.
Great stuff
I’m having trouble describing how I feel about ZZ Top. For the most part I love their hits, and so Sharp Dressed Man and Gimme All Your Lovin’ were great listens, as always. I really don’t care for their slower songs, and this album has two of those, including the hit, Legs. The rest of their songs kind of feel like slightly less good clones of their hits, making this a pretty consistent record, I suppose. For me that was really frustrating. Listening to the deep cuts was king of like… listening to your favorite song on a radio station whose range you are on the very edge of, so you’re getting some static and maybe someone reading off baseball scores. It would be better to just change the station rather than try and listen in those circumstances. And so as I made my way through this album, I just found myself wanting to go back to the singles at the top of the record, or not listen to it at all. By the way, all their records are like this for me, and I hope another one doesn’t show up on here. The exception that proves the rule is their greatest hits, which is pure fire. As far as belonging on this list, it’s mf’ing ZZ Top. It’s worth pointing out that basically all of my favorite artists list Billy Gibbons as a massive influence to them, so for that I am grateful. My personal enjoyment: 3/5 Did it belong on this list: 5/5
Outstanding
Bon album a mettre avec papa

Boring. Couldn’t finish
5th-grade Graham liked ZZ Top, but that was probably because of the weird music video for TV Dinner. Not a group I'd really listen to today.
What an album!
Awesome!
Hard rock soul, memorable riffs, and a lot of blues. I love it!
Great driving music, as shown by the hot rod cover
Easy to forget how hard ZZ rocks sometimes. Inspired me to make an Old Head Rock playlist.
Entertaining classic southern rock album.
Ganz ok.
Very fun
Äijärockia jossa veivataan samaa keskinkertaista biisiä 40 vuotta. Sama pelikirja käytössä kuin Popedalla ja Metallicalla. Hassut parrat eivät tällä kertaa nosta arvosanaa.
groovin
sharp dressed man, legs, gimme all your lovin - some classics here. Texas rock blues
Mm, ZZ Top... (Note to self: vielleicht mal eine Platte mit Aufnahmen meines eigenen nachmittäglichen Rock-Gegniedels machen?)
Nothing mind-blowing, but a lot better than expected! "Sharp-Dressed Man" and "Legs" are the standouts!
Goooood. I like it. Have always heard of ZZ Top but never gave them a listen.
Pretty sweet guitar riffs
I toe-tapped all the way through this, it's impossible not to. Although ZZ Top basically play different versions of the same song throughout their entire career, it's a very good song to repeat. Incredibly catchy, full of 80s nostalgia, music that puts a smile on your face.
Angst lyrics but 90’s rock sound.
It was fine.
Liked this much more than anticipated. Somehow, I never listened to any ZZ Top before. But they had some nice and groovy songs like "sharp dressed man" or "legs"
Such a fantastic album, always great
Not a huge ZZ TOP fan, but see how the album makes the list
It's good , but the relentless pounding drum machine is bit much...
It's OK! I'm not really super-duper into the whole 80's rock scene but I gave it a listen.
Bears guys got good guitar again.
The perfect mix of kick-the-dirt punk and fun rock ballads
classic rock :vomit:
I want to like it but it's just not enough for a 4 for me. The songs are just a bit too simple for me, both lyrically aswell as musically but they lack the catchiness of for example CCR
Flashy trip through history
Fed rock. Fed guitar og og fængende sange. 3.5 stjerne
Very good - surprised I don’t have this.
The only real standout tracks were their most recognizable songs on the album, Gimme All Your Lovin' and Sharp Dressed Man. The rest of the tracks felt lackluster, uncatchy and all sort of blended into one another to the point that I couldn't decipher them from one another if I took my mind off of the title for more than a couple of seconds.
Kivasti soivaa rockia noin kokonaisuutena ja pari kovaa lekaa.
This album is high energy and has some of the great ZZ Top songs
As if this album has any song worthy of even being called a ZZ Top song Garbage.
only heard like half of it unfortunately but still, not my thing
Great
Hard to believe this album came out in the 80s
ZZ Toppia, toimii tietenkin vaikkei mun lemppari olekaan
80s excess drenched in some classic, southern fried blues. The riffs are great, might be a little fat to trim. Some, dare I say, interesting song topic choices (I'm looking at you "TV Dinners"). "Sharp Dressed Man" plays in everyone's head when they put on a suit. Favorite tracks: "Dirty Dog", "Gimme All Your Lovin'"
it was ok i guess.
A few of these songs have been burned into my memory after years of hearing them, but this is catchy stuff. Couldn't bring myself to give it less than 4/5.
