I Believe in Thing called love was amazing. I just always thought this band was mocking 80s hair. Never thought to listen to the whole album

Did anyone else know the guy that sings Coconut was white? Don’t know if I’m embarrassed or offended. Who knew he also covered Without You and is responsible for Gotta Get Up? This album is versatile. Feels like LSD
Eminem
1/5
Never liked Eminem. His voice is grating to me
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Why’d you try to ruin Stagger Lee like that?

The Undertones
2/5
All songs sound the same to me
A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
Scenario was the jam. “Base in your face means peace see ya later” was my go to insult in the 7th grade. Check the Rhime slaps too. Realizing having an older brother into rap may have had an impact on my musical taste
Fleet Foxes
4/5
I love Fleet Foxes. The harmonies, the echo-y singer songwriter shit. I prefer Helplessness Blues to this one.
Hookworms
4/5
I’ve never heard of the Hookworms but I listened from front to back and really fucking love it. Giving LCD, Arcade Fire. Added to my playlist for sheeze

R.E.M.
4/5
I remember the video premiere of Everybody Hurts. My teenage hormones loving the permission to be sad. I have an unsavory story about Michael Stipe from my time in Athens. You kind of have to love REM if you went to Georgia. This is an amazing album either way.
The Byrds
3/5
The Blue Nile
3/5
Sounds like Peter Gabriel. These lyrics are wild. Some of them made me laugh. It’s like he is just naming stuff he sees walking down the city street. I liked track 8 I love this Life.
Elton John
5/5
The La's
2/5
I really, really love the hit. Pure 90s. The rest is meh
Metallica
4/5
Wow this album takes me all the way back. Going to show my age but definitely has this on cassette tape. Didn’t have to fast forward through many songs. Lars Ulrich is such a badass on this album. I love him on the drums. NGL it gets me so hype
Fiona Apple

Got a little annoying-had to skip most songs after a minute or so. Gave two stars only because I can see how they are influential. I do like their more recent album.
Pearl Jam
5/5
Love a grundge era album
Beth Orton
3/5
I loved trailer park but this is okay. Love her voice
Led Zeppelin
5/5
My favorite Led Zeppelin album. Nothing has ever made me wish that I was a teenager in the 70s more than this album, except maybe for Dazed and Confused. Robert Plant’s voice is so soulful. The nerd in me always loved the Lord of the Rings reference in Ramble On. Thank you is such a great fucking ballad. I die.

Loved the 80s-ness of this album but that’s about it
The War On Drugs
2/5
Just okay.
The Verve
3/5
Bittersweet Symphony is a great song! I love the strings, the lyrics. So different really from the rest of this album. Drugs don’t work is a great song. I remember Ben Harper singing it, not The Verve. Giving it a 3 only because of the hit song is that good.
Al Green
5/5
Can’t beat Al Green’s voice with horns and an electric organ. Classic and sexy. Baby making music
Fiona Apple
2/5
Throbbing Gristle
1/5
Do they use this to torture during an interrogation? My ears are bleeding

Pixies
5/5
Love the Pixies. Love this album.
Björk
3/5
Her voice is so unique.
Stevie Wonder
5/5
Sing it to me Stevie
Neil Young
4/5
So this is the reason why I love this project. Over course most of these albums have hits that you love but you really get to see what wasn’t “great” or maybe what you missed. A Man needs a Maid is so lame. No Neil, a Man needs to grow up. Old Man is a complete classic, love it. Alabama inspired a whole other classic which is pretty epic. I didn’t like listening all the way through. Felt very repetitive and his voice got on my nerves after a while. I give it a 3.5 but will round up because I’m a glass half full type
Buena Vista Social Club
4/5
An old friend burned me a CD playlist back in 2002 introducing me to BVSC. I love the entire album. Makes me want to visit Cuba and drink mojitos.
Shivkumar Sharma
3/5
I actually have quite a bit of meditation music in my Apple Music library. This was just okay for me.
Miles Davis
3/5
Maybe it’s the time of year but this sounded Christmas to me. I do enjoy jazz and Miles is one of the greats.
The Smiths
3/5
I went heavy into Smiths circa 2005? I listened so much I had to delete off all from Apple Music. Great songs maybe will revisit in 10 years
The Residents

Meat Loaf
3/5
Paradise by the Dashboard light is one of my faves
Radiohead
5/5
Anxiety Prince Thom. Always so unexpected, a little dark but so listenable all the way through. Brilliant! So beautifully written. I love how many of the songs ebb and flow. Great running music
Stevie Wonder
5/5
The hits make this a 4.5 but my love for Stevie makes it a 5
PJ Harvey
2/5
I liked it. Give it a 2.5. Boys immediately started wrestling each other once I put this on so it defo elicits a reaction. I may have liked it more in a different mood.
Metallica
2/5
I didn’t need this. Prefer the originals
Nirvana
5/5
I didn’t love Nirvana when I first heard this album. The mtv unplugged album won me over. I now love both versions and any version I hear of these songs. Speaking of influential, this album really went on to define the 90s and alternative rock. So much creativity and talent in Grohl and Cobain. I often think what could have happened musically if Kurt Cobain lived. Rest in peace Kurt!
Adele
4/5
The Pharcyde
3/5
Always loved Yo Mama. Some pretty great shade. Passing me by is on regular rotation in this house. The sample at the beginning is so freaking classic early 90s rap. Great song. 3.5
Booker T. & The MG's
5/5
Iconic. An instrumental album made 62 years ago, still slaps, and is still relevant in Movies, TV and commercials in 2024. My kids thought it was hilarious the album is named for a vegetable.
Peter Gabriel
1/5
Least favorite PG album ever - however, looking forward to his other weird shit
Roxy Music
2/5
I didn’t hate this like I thought I was going to at first listen. Some of the tracks got a little jam feel to it. Not sure I’d put it in regular rotation but wasn’t a bad Sunday listen.
I love old U2. This has some good songs but all ended up being overplayed and overproduced. Don’t @ me, just my thoughts. 2.5
Aerosmith
3/5
What it takes is a great rock ballad. Janie’s got a gun is so good. Steven Tyler truly has THE voice made for rock. The rest of the songs are kind of cringe. 3.5
Primal Scream
2/5
Wasn’t in the mood
Herbie Hancock

Barry Adamson
1/5
Creepy
Beastie Boys
5/5
I’ve seen the Beastie Boys twice. Once at Lollapalooza (when it was touring). It was blistering hot. When the Beastie Boys came on a rain shower appeared out of nowhere and the crowd went WILD. It was definitely a top 5 show for me. I didn’t even need to listen to this to know it’s 5 stars. The Beastie Boys reinvented themselves so many times but remained consistently the three fucking baddest white boys in the hip hop genre.
Slayer
1/5
Peter Gabriel
4/5
Emmylou Harris
4/5
I know she’s one of the greats but I never really enjoyed any of her music, until this. Maybe I was just looking at the wrong era.
Stephen Stills
4/5
What in the Dixie chicken is this?! Embarrassed to say, I didn’t know Stills was something before Crosby Stills and Nash. Love a sweet southern jam/rock band. More cowbell!!!

3/5
Love the first song but then they all started to sound the same
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
2/5
2.5
Beck
3/5
Forgot how much I love Jack Ass. Not my favorite Beck album
Otis Redding
5/5
Otis Redding was a regular in my house growing up. My Dad is a big Motown guy and he had a few of his records. I love this album but I do prefer Sam Cooke’s version of Change is Gonna Come. Still 5 stars in my book
Fleetwood Mac
3/5
Beyoncé
3/5
3.5
The Clash
3/5
Yes
3/5
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would
Sabu
2/5
Felix called it caveman music. Pretty fun but couldn’t get through entire album
OutKast
5/5
OutKast were huge in Atlanta and the rest of the dirty south for almost a decade but this was when the rest of the world really got to know them. The Dungeon Family heavily represented-appearances from CeeLo and Killer Mike. Here you can really start to see the creative differences between the two. Amazing album lots of hits. Two creative geniuses doing their thing. Love OutKast but I’m heavily biased due to my Georgia ties
Derek & The Dominos
4/5
Love a little yacht rock to start the day
The Who

My favorite Stevie Song of all time is As. Good lord I freaking love it.
Big Brother & The Holding Company
4/5
Nothing compares to Janis’ sound
Eels
3/5
The Cure
4/5
This album is main character walking the streets in deep emotional thought. I don’t know why I just always felt like anyone the loves the cure is just like so much cooler than I could ever be. Love the synth. The lyrics to Lovesong are some of the simplest, most romantic words and Smith makes it sound so unrequited.

I love the previous album by Hole-Live Through This-I think. While I liked this album alot and don’t think I’ve ever listened to the entire album until now-I don’t see why it’s an influential album. This was the end of grunge and they are trying to make Courtney sound like Gwen Stefani. The whole album is way more produced. Anyway just my thoughts
