God True story my wife's uncle was a bouncy for a concert Jimi played just outside of Leeds England, he saw Jimi come out of the venue and walk down the street, didn't speak to him or get an autograph. 😭 'So fine' is a great inclusion as it highlights how far forward Jimi was compared to the average bands, with the obvious exceptions Polymath
My bus has turned into a space ship and major tom is at the controls as we fly away...........now a sexy disco has started we are dancing away in a most peculiar way.......goodbye everyone....... Polymath
💩-1*
I listened to one side and that was enough,.I am sure they have many people who love the smashing pumpkins, but it was too long and inconsistent for me, a lot like use your illusion 1&2 it could have made a great single album
Brought back a lot of memories, I was there in the tent at reading to see the foo fighters in one of their very first concerts. I really enjoyed listening to this, when it first came out I judged it too much against Nirvana. Time has been very kind to this album easily 5*
Not my thing, but I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would, deserves five stars as a superbly well made album with lots of flare and creativity
This is my favourite Bowie album, I love the lyrics and the musical style, to me it is his most coherent and connected album. Over shadowed by Ziggy, unfairly I believe as this is a better work. Much more creativity and emotional content. Easily 5 🤩
Great for the genre
I have been listening to this since I was 9, 53 now old, love this album more than any other, it has it's flaws but don't we all. it's like an old friend to me
Ok, nothing ground breaking, rock n roll with a angry twist, lyrics poor, not as angry as English punk, probably unfair comparison, likeable enough
I used to listen to this when I was 15, unlike other albums I have listened to for that long Dark side, Master of puppets, Mama etc, lyrics like "Take no prisoners Take no Shit" have not aged well. This album is not something that will be looked at now and be thought of as anything but "Trump esq" rubbish maybe it was ahead of its time! 2* Music 0* Lyrics 5* Shame I ever listened to this when I was younger
I couldn't really get into this too far removed from what I like and too eclectic to get settled

***** ***** ***** All day long.... First chords of whole lotta love are greater than some bands entire output. I mean this most sincerely, they are like Radiohead musical gods Anyone who can sing about Mordor and make it sound that good gets my vote
Gave it a go, how much did they pay the A&R man?
I tried but not for me
The true power of this app struck me with this album, I got the idea of it before I started, but the idea that here is something I would never have listened to without the app struck me. Great album skip first 8 minutes of last song though, it's true what everyone says about 1969!!!!!
I don't know anything about grime, as a white 53yr old never been my thing, but after listening to this and looking up the prison population stats and stop and search I get the anger. We live in a country that promote British values, and as a teacher I do this but these only really apply to white people. This is a well made album and dwarves 4 stars.
I was 11 when this came out, if they had not released come on Eileen, I think I might have given them a chance as I can't stand that song! The rest seen to good. Also I saw Kevin Rowlands at a reading festival singing to a backing track, the track kept breaking down much to the amusement of the crowd, Kevin bless him found this very annoying and threw a strop at the crowd, wrong move as we responded with plastic bottles, turning the whole thing into a farce, I am loving this app as it causes me to listen to new music and look back on happy memories. Thanks Kevin 🍼
Teenage memories again 😂 So far my teenage listening has turned out to be a mixed bag from the sublime Pink Floyd to the ridiculous Megadeath 😁 Somethings don't date Hot Buttered Soul, somethings become grown men singing about women in ways that are not appropriate. Funny how distance changes ones perspective on events, "oh Mr Tyler going down" and then Jamie's got a gun pops up! You could have done so much more Music ***** Vocals ***** Lyrics* Ps I was a big fan in the day and saw them live
Reading some of the reviews I think some people really miss the point of this exercise. It is not a list of all your favourite albums, it's there to challenge you and get you to try to listen to things that you would otherwise never have listened to. When you approach it this way, it truly makes sense, it's a percentage of what I have listened to I would never have tried and my life is better for it. Hot Buttered Soul was a revelation, plus some of the rap I wouldn't have listened to either. So please embrace the true spirit of the app😁 This album is "cool" love the laid back beats. On the issue of ownership of samples the artists are paid and also how many chord combinations are now original? You have to be at the front edge of creativity to come up with original music eg Radiohead etc which most people are not to create totally new music Great experience 5*
Screaming anger like Kurt on In Utero, does not have the melody like Nirvana which is what set them apart from most other punk/hardcore/grunge bands. Kurt could put a melody into any song however angry. This is more hit and miss and some of the songs are way too long. This will take multiple sittings 😔
This takes self love to a whole new level😁 too polished for me and slick. I can't get passed the 💩 lyrics too
As a polymath with PhDs in maths, physics...only kidding it was a very good album if that is your taste stylish and very well produced 😁
I was born in 1971, but like marmite and Bob Dylan you either get it or you don't. I get Dylan but not Joni 😞
Good instrumentation, interesting lyrics, not so keen on the voice.
When it comes to folk I much prefer American folk, it has more of an edge to it. British seems very dancing round the maypole or so I thought until listening to this, an emotional and stylish album, especially track five which is very shine on you crazy diamond it style, and predates it. This is a good addition to my listening experience. By Polymath.
Dripping in style and skilled musicianship but alas in my eyes very little substance
A lot the last album by chic style and some good music (some dull and repetitive) but very little substance. I know I know that was the point of this precursor to punk/stoner rock.
Great album so many memories 5*
What a coincidence yesterday I found Elton's Greatest Hits from 1974 on vinyl in a collection given to me by my parents. Never been a big fan but really starting to get Elton now, very late to Saturday night.
Very European in style, I did like it as not something I had listened to before except Kids. Not sure I will return to it but worth at least one listen. A well produced piece of Pop music
Today they would have to bill themselves as a Beatles/Beach Boys tribute act featuring a fucking pervert
A sound that is timeless, a great performance. Fun and spontaneous like a live album should be, another album I would never have listened to. Polymath
Every modern day music artist owes a massive debt to these guys for without them there would be nothing. Rock n roll started here and the rest as they say is history. This album is what a hungover cockerel would make after finding that his wife had took the dog and fucked off after he returns from a three day drunken blender 😭
I need to give this a few more listens to come to a conclusion 🤔
Not sure 😁
Beautifully done ❤️
Thought I would stop after first song but still going 20+ minutes in, good album first two songs messy but good after that.😁
We are so used to albums being the same picture in 10-12 slightly different posses, true greatness is to produce an album where none of the posses are related. From Beach Boys sitting on a beach with a cool beer to the Doors stoned in a dead end drug den via Kurt sat in his bedroom writing about the pain of teenage life Polymath Polymath
I had ever heard of Sufjan before but this is a good record, there was one song though which was straight off Disintegration The Cure, the rest was made for a really interesting listen. One to revisit, voice really 👍
Personal Thoughts Right now I think it's time England split from America, and rejoined the EU. Why would we be allies to a country who is friends with dictator Putin, has thrown the Ukraine under the bus, has taken away their own people's rights. Trump is a bully, a greedy rich white man who cares nothing for his people or any one else's. America you have made a grave mistake and unfortunately everyone has to pay for it. The album, I have never been a Stevie wonder fan and this has not changed. I get why people are but it just doesn't float my boat
A couple of good tracks cult and middle man, I think it's the lyrics they sound very angry 15 year old very obvious with little suitably Polymath
The Voice The Synths Polymath
I tried this but maybe it was my mood I don't know but I didn't make it through, no reflection on this as it is clearly a great record just not for me Polymath
My wife's favourite record when it came out, she has moved on to Radiohead now. This is the beauty of the site, I didn't listen to or like these at the time, but what a great record amazing musicians, thoughtful lyrics and style. This brings back so many memories of that period in the 90s when I went to festivals seeing Bowie, Young etc
The year my wife was born😄I found this was not the classic I thought it would from the comments and it's reputation. Some of the songs are great but others especially No women No cry are awful. How any producer could allow that track out lord only knows, reminds me of how Metallica screwed up and justice Polymath

I once saw Billy Bragg great live act, very passionate person. Like a British Bob Dylan but with a very strong Lancashire accent, like Dylan very marmite. Superb song writer.
My first vinyl record, will always have a place in my ❤️
Can I dig it? Well it's another one of those where I can appreciate how good it is but it's not for me. Polymath
I remember seeing these at a festival, amazing set and light show, consummate professional. Enjoying it except elektrobank and it doesn't matter very repetitive songs.
I won't give up on you..... Polymath
29 years late to the party 🥳 Straight through listen great record, beautiful vocals, one of the few times (outside of Radiohead) that a drum machine has brought anything to the 🎉 Polymath
No body made a live album without a debt to this album No guitarist ever picked up a guitar without a debt to this man This is rock n roll's DNA. Polymath Ps I love live albums ever since the Iron Maiden classic Live after Death, I still have the tape from when I was 14, with all the details worn off the plastic. I don't agree with comments about a studio version is my point.
No Polymath
Greatest live Albums 1 Live after Death IM 2 Live over Hammersmith IM 3 Exit Stage Left Rush 4 isle of white The Who
Great album. Great songs. Never as good as they thought they were. Original no, great yes. Three really good albums Definitely, What's the, and B side collection Master plan. My personal favourite Oasis Supersonic, drips with attitude. Saw them live Liam wanted a fight with a member of the audience!
Bastard's hung up....... Polymath
Another first time listen, only know Killing Moon, a good album, a very good lyricist with clear Jim Morrison influences and The Cure musically. A varied, well made and thoughtful album. Standout track: Ocean Rain Polymath
Great record, Candle in the wind had tears welling up at the bus stop. Such a great song writing combination Elton & Bernie Polymath
Another blueprint album that has echoed down the decades. Polymath
Odd Polymath
Interesting listen 👂 Polymath
A very soulful voice worthy of a 5:)
It's the voice and that hotel lounge music that is not for me. The music is like a weird mix of Pop and country, it's just so bland. Hold music. Lyrics *Checking on my sex appeal* what????? Polymath Ps The Television album contains one of the greatest lyrics "And the Cadillac left the graveyard"
I read the negative comments and thought shut up she is amazing, but then on listening I found myself agreeing. It's not her voice it's the quality of the songs, her voice deserves better. "Hello" is amazing but the rest are standard platter. Polymath
Amazon does not have all the songs in the UK any way, so listened to Best of which has a lot of the songs on. Message to any Americans post Liberation day (Fuck up day) I do feel for you having a demented idiot with no knowledge of global economics, good luck with the recession
Can we just stop making out that every 13-15yr old boy is a masogonist, because they are not. Shit album
Great social comment 👏
Not my bag
Oh lord that's good 💯
Bought on the day it came out

Such a beautiful voice and lyrics 💓
Reminds me of FSOL but stripped back
I like lots of the the music that Damon has produced especially blur, but I found this dull and his voice always too deep in the mix. I think it could have been very good if more care taken over the production
I realise having read some of the reviews how poorly informed(my fault) I am about the origins, motives and background of certain albums and artists I am. The motive behind Elvis was he was white and so the great songs that the black music community had written could now be sold to the white world. I feel the same happened much later with Eminem when the record industry thought we have a rapper here we can sell world wide
