Reviews (page 13 of 14)

Classic album

Very eclectic, but still fairly cohesive, which hasn't been the case for some of the other Beatles albums. None of these songs are standouts to me, but it's not bad either. Very Beatles in that sense

It was nice to finally listen to this! Coincidentally, it is a lot like listening to Elvis for me: I vibe with it, but it's mostly fine overall.

I really, really, REALLY don't know how to rate this one correctly. There are some great songs on this album without a doubt - but this is also, in my opinion, far from the Beatles' best work. It may just be because of my own personal history with the Beatles and the people I knew who liked them, but a lot of their more drug-propelled albums (which I know is most of them, but this one wears it pretty heavy on the chest) always felt cheesy and never quite clicked with me. I'm so, so close to rating this a 4. But I know that outside of a few singles, I'm probably never picking up this specific album again.

I was wondering when the first Beatles album would show up on the list. As unfamiliar as I may be with them, I know how iconic and revered Sgt. Pepper is, and I’m glad to have gotten the chance to hear it and learn about its context. Historic importance aside... it’s fine. Some of it’s catchy (I like both title tracks), and I totally see the vision with the big ending. But honestly, the meat of the album was only OK for me, aside from a few standouts. Definitely an album to hear before ☠️, but not one I’d return to. It’s far from '60slop, I’ll give it that! Standouts: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (both versions) • With a Little Help from My Friends • When I’m 64 • A Day in the Life

Apart from this albums hits, which arent even that great, this is a pretty boring album

3.5/5 Never really listened to Beatles much, this is my first time listening to one of their albums end to end. Solid project. I loved the run of tracks in the middle of the album called out below and the closing track. Fav tracks: A Day In The Life - loved the chaotic breaks in this track, listened to it 3x on first spin Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite - psychedelic circus-core, wacky and i like it Within You Without You - in love with the hurdy-gurdy? sitar? and bongos, this track takes me on a journey She's Leaving Home - beautiful song

So many Beatleses! I appreciate this cover primarily because all four of them are distinct looking for once, even with the funny mustaches. (The colorful ones, that is; no clue what's going on to the left there.) In general it's never a chore to listen to a Beatles's, although that's probably due to a combo of (a) short track length and (b) already knowing most of the songs, in addition to (c) being "good". For my personal ranking, I'd probably put this in the bottom half of Beatleses, even though that's not the received wisdom. A little too artsy for my taste. Highlights: 'With a Little Help from my Friends', the line "if I'm wrong, I'm right / where I belong" (very poetic), 'Within You Without You' (long but good for my meditation era)

British rock, but the Beatles iconic vocals carry. Much more listenable compared to other British rock. 2.7

fun, seems quite random, not a fan of the production

I went in with big expectations on this album being one of the most popular albums for one of the most popular groups ever. Some of the songs were great (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, With a Little Help from my Friends) and a good number I respected for being very different, experimental and interesting. Overall though this album didn't leave a huge impression on me, it's standout for sure but I can't see myself listening to it much again.

First three songs are bangers. Rest of the album kind of wanders and doesn’t really do it for me.

It's pretty good. Definitely a few misses though. I've heard this album quite a bit through my life but rarely go back to it.

I'm not always the biggest fan of the Beatles' music (I know, I know) but some of their best songs are on here. It's massively creative. The melodies, harmonies and chord progressions are all interesting, and the inevitable quirkiness doesn't *overly* overshadow the music (except at times; Mr Kite, sigh). I can hear the Pet Sounds influence, but it's far less dreary. They still, mainly, sound like a cohesive band here, although George was clearly having a little frolic of his own on Within You Without Me. I think by the White Album, the fractures were clear and I found it sad to listen to on Abbey Road. But here, the Lennon McCartney chemical reaction was still working really well. So creative, as I've said. Objectively, and shutting out the noise of who they are, a solid album. And quite a few tracks that I actually like.

was okay

I want you to read it because I take so long on it.i think the album is good because it has details that they did with so much work.i recomended because the music is good

I promise I am not trying to stir up controversy here, but this has to be one of the more overrated albums from the 60s. I think that it is sonically interesting (groundbreaking even, at times), but the actual songs that end up on this album rarely come across as that lightning in a bottle that Beatles tracks so often seem to capture. Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite is a great example. The songwriting here doesn’t come across smart or meaningful, just convenient. Words and phrases are matched up simply for their tunefulness and not much else. The Beatles equivalent of a freestyle rap. Not to say this album is bad, even average, but I would always pick up Help, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Abbey Road, Let It Be, and The White Album over Sgt. Peppers. That being said there are some high points, such: - Intro into With A Little Help From My Friends (Ringo’s best performance) - A Day In The Life (and it’s dramatic, bizarre ending)

A true classic. A lot of nostalgia from my Beatles phase and memories of playing Beatles rock band with my friends. A few hits so I think this deserves a 3. It’s not my absolute favorite though and I don’t know about it being a perfect album so 4/5 may be too much.

Not something I would listen today. But it's definitely a trailblazer for the sound. Would listen in the background.

Lucy I The Sky With Diamonds is great. The other big hits are ok, but the songs I didn't know were fairly boring. As a whole, seems very overrated.

Ok by dated

6.5/10 I was hyped to listen to this record as I’ve read high reviews before, but I had a hard time getting into it. There are highs but nothing stuck with me outside of those. I’m not really sure how to feel yet. This record felt all over the place to me.

About half the songs are brilliant. That’s all I’m willing to say.

The sprawl - fuck you, are you for sale, i’m going native - spoken word rather than lead vocals but novel enough to warrant a listen.

My first Beatles album.. quite like it.. chill and old school vibes Fav song - She's Leaving Home 3/5

Once a favorite that now sounds a bit stale after too many listens. Valuable for its influence on other artists. The Musique Concrète was fun and the Indian flourishes were quite enjoyable.

Fun enough album.

My hot take: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is a terrible song. That said, With A Little Help From Me Friends is a great tune. This record leans more towards not so great, for me, though. Revolver was better, I think. They do have a few great tunes, but in general, I just don't get the Beatles. Guess you had to be there.

Not my favorite Beatles album but it still is full of classics.

I will admit for 1967 this had to have been a shock to the system of the pop music world. That being said, I don't think this is the best effort that the Beatles put forward in their tenure. I would name Rubber Soul, Revolver, Abbey Road, The White Album, and potentially even Let It Be as bett than this one. There are some great tunes in here hence the 6/10 rating, but overall not the best thing in the world

da waren schon einige geniale Dinger dabei, aber "geraucht" haben die trotzdem

ig this will be my bus to grad night album. it’s about time i listened to this shit ig. see ya tomorrow. hello me it’s you from tomorrow. i’ve always been a slight beatles hater and i stand by the fact that they’re overrated but this album is pretty solid. i mean i’d hope so it’s very acclaimed. i’m not a big pop rock guy but this album is nice i enjoyed it for the most part.

It was different than what I expected

Pretty good, but not my favorite

Good. Groundbreaking. Far from their best.

A bit disappointing.

There are some timeless songs on this album, and the intro and outtro are great w/ a nice transition into a day in the life, but this album is also full of very meh psych rock and other tracks that are just o.k. (e.g. Lovely Rita) not the best and not the worst. 3/5

Yet again I truly do not understand the hype around this band. What a mixed bag of an album, some tunes I can get on board with but others which are just weird or just not fun to listen to.

Some of these songs are good and some of these songs are absolutely insane. 3/5

Like the Sgt Peppers framing. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. A Day in the Life was new to me & really good.

Classic Beatles sound...I just don't particularly like the Beatles? I can see why they were so cutting edge for their day, though.

did not finish listening but again, decent.

Fav: She’s Leaving Home Least Fav: Within You Without You Justice for She’s Leaving Home, one of the more underrated Beatles songs

Only like first couple songs First part of album is good then goes to pre boring

The most overwanked album in the history of musicwank

Klassieker, paar heel goeie nummers, maar niet per se allemaal mijn smaak

I've always struggled with the beatles. Some great songs that are right up there and then some absolute shite. Dan Boeckner once called it music for children.... and he's half right.

3/5 iconic album with some good classic Beatles tunes

I can’t imagine ever saying, “Holy crap. Check out this Beatles album” It was fine, I guess

At its best, it's an album from a band riding a creative high point. (A Day in the Life, Getting Better, When I'm 64) At its worst, over the top shitty hippy music with all the worst stereotypes of hippy music -- distortion, sitars, cheesy circus music. 3 stars because it's either the best Beatles album or the absolute worst. It can't be both. As for psychedelic music, others did it first AND did it better (Pet Sounds, 13th Floor Elevators, Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Saucerful of Secrets, pretty much anything by the Byrds)

I'm beginning to think I have a problem with eclectic albums. I think I actually prefer an album to follow a consistent style from start to finish. Why do I say that? Because as much as I respect the Beatle's talent and the huge impact they had on the development of rock and pop music, I found the mix of different styles on this album disconcerting. Of all the Beatles albums presented by this project so far, I like this one the least, even if its release was an epic milestone in music's evolution.

Good album, liked most of the songs decently.

I always forget how slow this album is. In my head Sgt. Pepper's opening track is a speed-fueled punk thrash run. I thought maybe it was Jimi's fault and checked the version included in the Jimi Hendrix Experience box set from 2000, and that's better but still not quite there. Even the Flaming Lips (with their fwends My Morning Jacket and J. Mascis (?!?!)) have a slow sludgy version. Sigh. Oh well at least I'll always have The Breeders' cover of 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' and the Feelies 'Everybody's Got Something to Hide'. Maybe I just prefer the 'White Album' - that's probably it. Still, 'A Day in the Life' is pure class (even if it's to Britpop what Pearl Jam's 'Alive' is to Creed et al)

Moments move, but more bore or cringe.

Best song (Strawberry Fields) isn’t even on the album - although A Day In The Life is also fine. Probably won’t listen to it again, but it’s alright.

It's the Beatles. It's the Beatles engaging in whimsy. It's the Beatles being obtuse. It's not the Beatles I generally want to listen to.

I know this is widely considered to be one of the greatest rock albums of all time but it's never done it for me. It's a weird mish mash of non rock elements and given it was created at a time of innovation is a strange longing for a time that considered "The Music Man" to be cutting edge. It's an odd lament for the times of carousel music and Sousa Marches

I assume everyone gives this 4 or 5 stars, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of this one. Prefer other Beatles records much more. Abbey Road, Magical Mystery Tour, Revolver probably.

i've just never clicked with the beatles idk!! i like a lot of music that is clearly influenced by them (the lemon twigs), but I just... don't see the appeal of the beatles!! didn't hate this, also was easy to listen to without really listening to?

My least favorite Beatles record (but still a 3, I like the Beatles). I don't really have anything to add about probably the most talked about Beatles record because to me it's just the least interesting one. The interesting stuff is all contextual and not really the music itself. There's some really corny lyrics, which made me think of how social media have changed social customs because I guess it was avant-garde at the time to really just have no fucking shame, "I used to be cruel to my woman / I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved" ...and to me this record feels more like an awkward transition than something that is great on its own. It feels like proto-prog but somehow also stripped down and unfinished at the same time. As someone who would definitely defend the Beatles from complaints of being "overrated" I gotta say I see exactly where people who don't "get" the Beatles are coming from with this record. Never cared for it but give me White Album or Abbey Road any day. Those two records are timeless, still interesting and still worth stealing from and looking back to. This is kitsch, this is 1967. 3 instead of 2 because A Day In The Life is on it.

Jump bass. Trippy album but inconsistent. Very English.some average ideas for n there but real high spots are the Indian spiritual time and day in the life. She’s leaving home is mawkish. Ringo and John lean towards the dada while George and John extend themselves musically. Lyrically focussed on banal everyday life of English people, but with a drug fuelled lens. Songs are too long, too many mid songs, mix is stereo divided and not cohesive, vocals are muddy, bass is high in mix..

I mean I guess it was good in its day. It’s a bit much though

Loads of hits but I'm just not a Beatles fan. Can appreciate their music but the quirky experimentation just annoys me. Psych rock just rubs me the wrong way.

My older brother played this album all the time when it first came out. I never cared much for it because it didn’t have any heavy guitar solos a la Hendrix or Page. All these years later I acknowledge its influence but it’s still not my favourite Beatles album.

A few bangers, but overall not my cup of tea

Better than I expected

Over rated

For me this campy, gitchy version of the Beatles is middle of the road when listening with a totally sober mindset and ear. It does get better when properly medicated (THC). I definitely understand why many believe (true or not) that there was innuendo of drugs throughout the album.

I get why The Beatles are important to music history, but I just do not like it myself. Respect, but pass.

Quick confession: my parents are both certified Beatles haters. I’ve listened to approximately… two? songs by The Beatles in my entire life (Blackbird and Hey Jude) and have never had any desire to go any further. Credit absolutely where it’s due, the range of instrumentation is crazy and absolutely groundbreaking. It’s like a beautiful, complex dish which I can appreciate for having used inventive and complex cooking techniques and then ends up being something that’s just… fine! Favourite Tracks: She’s Leaving Home, Within You Without You Least Fav Track: For the Benefit of Mr Kite

First listen. Been on the list for some time. It was ok I guess.

Lucy and Help from My friends are solid. Like what’s going on in Within/Without. Like the guitar in good morning - kinda came out of the blue but it rocked (finally). Day in the life was solid too. Enjoyed this more than my average Beatles listening experience…

Some classics and some filler

Some good ones, but some weird ones. I appreciate at the time this was forward thinking, it's aged OK.

I'm not the kind of person that hates the Beatles just because they are popular. However, I can't help but think that if this came out today it would get lukewarm reception. There are some really great moments, particularly with A Day In The Life and Within You Without You, but as a whole it just feels boring and bland retrospectively. There are way better Beatles albums, and honestly way better albums from '67 (Are You Experienced? AND Axis: Bold As Love in the same year?? Those are way better psych-rock albums IMO). I appreciate the classical infusions through the whole thing and the production is solid as usual, but it falls flat for me overall. 7/10

Eh just not for me I guess but I understand why they are so loved. A few bangers though!

Enough ink has been spilled about Sgt Pepper’s that there probably isn’t anything new to say about it - it’s hugely influential and innovative and is one of the key pieces in defining the “album” as we know it, but on a moment to moment songwriting level it isn’t as strong as many other entries in the Beatles catalog

For me personally, this always been a lovely record. Partly for the fact that it was vinyl record I could ever officially say I owned when I was gifted one Christmas by my grandma. Not only does it possess many classic, catchy and good quality Beatles songs, but also contains some lesser known (still very mainstream) tracks. The psychedelic elements are performed very nicely, with good vocals and instrumentation from all members. For some reason, I'm not 100% which it is, this track list doesn't quite feel like some of their other works, the songs all have a nice charm to them that generally earn themselves a good score.

Blijf op een zesje steken. Toch te veel filler nummers waar ik niet zo veel mee heb. Is niet slecht verder. Eerste 3 nummers zijn wel goed.

Skipped 1 song Some proper bizarre songs Good drums I get why it’s a classic and can understand how it has influenced so many but it’s not my favorite.

That's not my taste in music - But ok

its a beatles album idk why but this album makes me think about volcanic bird enemy and the voiced concern by lil ugly mane i'm too crazy about the beatles, but this is still good tho.

You really can’t imagine how difficult it was to listen to the Beatles in the 1980s, indeed up until the Past Masters discs came out on CD. (Other than if you had music loving parents who had the records. I didn’t.) The reputation of Sgt. Pepper preceded it. Naturally, I was disappointed, thinking it nowt but an indulgent mess. It’s the only one of the post-‘Help’ Beatles albums that I don’t return to on a regular basis (Let It Be aside, for obvious reasons). Ok. It is indulgent, but it isn’t a mess. There are glorious moments here and there. A Day In The Life is probably one of the best pop songs ever composed. As a whole, the songs on the album (I still think) don’t play nicely with one another. But it is a treat.

A mix of brilliance and tedious. The brilliance outward the tedious.

Classic.

C'était cool, j'ai bien aime Lucy in the Sky With the Diamonds.

Here we go again, another overrated Beatles album. Strong first 3 songs, followed by the usual collection of average songs, and a cracker to finish on. Unusually the Harrison song is the real bum note, and there’s of course the standard McCartney stupid tune (When I’m 64, I’m looking at you). To be honest, all their latter career albums feel so disjointed, it really does show that different members are writing different parts. Is this album really better than other psych/concept albums of around the same time, like S.F Sorrow or Ogden’s, no it isn’t. Now burn me for heresy you bastards……

Väldigt ojämn skiva. När det är bra är det riktigt bra. Som de tre första låtarna och When I am 64. Sen är det annat som bara är onödigt. With in you..

Bästa låten är "with a little help...".

It's a good album - lots of classic tunes (With a Little Help From My Friends, When I'm 64, A Day in the Life) - but it doesn't deserve the mythical status conferred upon it by so many. There are better Beatles albums out there - the ones immediately before and after, for example.

Lucy und die Hilfe ihrer Freunde .. der Rest ist nett und clean und Beatles.

Some good songs, some not so good

I’ve listened a few times. Still meh

liked songs: With A Little Help From My Friends, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Within You Without You There's a huge range on this album. Some stuff is really interesting and creative, and some of the songs I found to be very rudimentary. 2.5

Started string with singles I've known and heard frequently. Starts getting a little bizarre in a fun way (Mr. Kite), then bizarre in a bit great way. Finished off ok.

i have grown up on the beatles and ive always loved them. i think this album is rlly different from the rest of their classic stuff but i do enjoy it. their songs have a certain hopefulness to them. really love how upbeat and dancey the songs are. feel like the beatles really experimented and stepped outside the box with this one and i really enjoyed it

A bit boring... but it was interesting recognising a bunch of the songs from covers. My favourite track was the Reprise, much more upbeat, rock tone. I don't really have anything else to say about this album. It was fine, and I liked some of the tracks. No issues

Psychedelic Beatles is the best version of the Beatles

Contrary to popular opinion, I did not think this was their best album.

I have listened to this before. I can recognize its significance in music history and how it was the “first” concept album and I can appreciate the vocals and harmonies in the background, songwriting and their style but personally I did not like it very much.

A classic of course but they were so clearly just smokin and fuckin around with each other when they wrote these lyrics. What silly geese. When I’m sixty-four was a nice new one to me.

ok I guess. Would be better with mono mix or through speakers instead of headphones.

Good funky Beatles. A Day in the Life was a memorable song.

They have 5 better albums

I mostly find Beatles music to be pretty boring. This album isn't the worst offender but I still will probably never purposefully listen to it again. I understand that it has had huge cultural influence, but at the same time all that is so long before my time that I can't really relate or connect with it. I also don't really ever connect with psychedelia so that's also a bit rough Standouts Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) 3/5

I've never understood the reverence for this album. If it was the soundtrack to some part of your life then OK, but otherwise? It's more advanced, compositionally, than some of their earlier music, but some of it I swear you'd have to be high to enjoy. Best tracks: Fixing A Hole, A Day In The Life, and maybe Good Morning Good Morning Worst tracks: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (you know I'm right), Mr Kite 3/5

other than “when i’m 64” i’m not particularly fond of this beatles era

Mediocre

Sorry, this just be some 60s thing I'm too young to understand. No but seriously it's not bad I guess but I doubt I'll go back to it.

My Beatles enjoyment seems to inversely correlate with how wacky they are - this one has a fair chunk of wackiness that puts me off, but I do enjoy the Indian influenced moments.

it's a good album but not a favourite of mine

In general I'm not a huge Beatles fan, but this wasn't a bad album at all.

not as bad as i thought

6.5/10 Kultni album ali not really my cup of tea

decently mid

Beatles time. Coming off a 4 into what promises to be better than the last album we were exposed to on this list. Ten seconds into the first track, if they recorded gorilla fight audio for the remainder of this bad boy, it would be better than that David Bowie thing. Odd, musical, invigorating. Good start. This song suffers from its success. Overplayed beyond belief but it’s also quite bland. I like the backup gang vocal call and response sections, but overall this one is mediocre and less exciting than some of their other work. This is psychedelic rock. While again, overplayed, I am interested in this and it holds not only my attention but excitement for what comes next. We’re the rocking horse people REALLY eating marshmallow pies??? With that bombshell aside, a slightly annoying chorus is made up for with fantastic verses and fascinating lyrics/sounds. The simplicity does not thrill the way their other albums have. The vocal melody here is nice and the Beatles songwriting is just the top tier but there’s nothing too grippy about the “traditional” parts of the album. This one repeats far too much and ironically, is getting worse as the track continues. This album feels thin somehow. I don’t know if it’s the remaster but there’s some punch missing with the production. This one is fairly listless. Guitar tone is kind of cool and the organ backing is interesting again, but there is nothing to really write home about in this one. Maybe I’d write home to confess my drug habit and my consortium with scouse hippies, but other than that, this song remains a DEEP track. Harps and violins are a little dramatic. This feels like a fantasia soundtrack backing a blow by blow recounting of a breakup. Hey, I’d leave too if my weird friend’s band started describing me putting on a shirt with accompanying Violas. Nah this one is not doing it for me. Worst track so far, by far. Mr. Kite has to actually be pretty happy with this one. I like this one a lot more. Bizarre and obtuse which appeals to me. Polka circus infused with psychedelics. Perfect nightmare combo. Love this. After some run of the mill tracks, this is wonderful. Sitar time. No white guy on DMT is complete without it. I guess when you cover enough American blues songs and make enough money, you become enlightened. Nirvana achieved by the Beatles, whereas I wasn’t ready for said nirvana. This one is too self-indulgent somehow. Not as good. Actually not good at all. This just keeps Going. Make it stop. When I’m 64 is nice. It’s happy and nice. I don’t know how this fits in though. It seems like an anomaly and 1967’s answer to Pixar music. It’s so out of place and simple that while it is a delightful little romp, it’s kind of silly. Alright. I prognosticated kazoos and they have arrived. This is not my kind of thing. It’s fine. That’s the crux of all of this. It’s got some fascinating ideas and then a deluge of stuff that doesn’t work for me. The end was super cool though. Loved that combination of sounds. There are sections of this album that I LOVE. There will be passages here and there that are so fresh and exciting despite being almost 60 years old. Good morning indeed. Bring on the animal sound effects baby. Maybe we will get that extended gorilla fight. A reprise??? Not in my review. Although a reprise of what was arguably the best song isn’t too shabby. Fine. Good song. So many changes within and a bunch of ambient noise to go along with it. The beautiful vocal melody on the refrain is haunting. I like this one. This album is cool. Slightly cringe in the way that it’s very much “white 20 something discovers mushrooms and makes it his personality” but there are so many cool ideas that would be built upon and improved with the white album. 3-3.5 easily. HIGHLIGHTS: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!, A Day in the Life

Classic

A weird closing song...

Lots of classics.. didn't float my boat

Only a few great songs stick out

Never heard of these guys. Hopefully, they don't suck like the Shitty Beatles. A bit of a different album for these guys. I wonder if they had partaken in any drugs at this point... the world may never know. Great album. The opening track is baller. Not my favorite album from them, but I'll give it a 3.5

Nothing interesting besides 2-4 songs

probably objectively a super influential album, but just didn’t do it for me. the only song i’d maybe listen to again was a day in the life. it felt sort of like i was listening to the soundtrack of a movie or play which maybe is the style for the time???

Like, it's ok. But nowhere near worth all the hype. Jumps all over the place musically and you have the usual Lennon nonsense track that loads of people probably think is genius, but it's actually shit. Just don't see where all the hype and acclaim comes from.

I admit that I am probably holding this to incredibly high standards just because of the incredibly high praise this album gets. It's one of those albums I am glad I finally got to listen to. I understand that it's an incredibly influential album, but even then, I really feel it hasn't held up compared to other influential albums I've heard (135 so far). The songs felt a bit too saccharine for my liking, ironically enough the intro and outro being among my favorites.

For an album with a fairly iconic reputation, I didn't feel like it had the quality across the board which I would come to expect. It may be a victim of its own success in that regard.

Maybe it's because I'm an uncultured millennial but I just do not personally get this album. Like, I understand that it's culturally significant and is one of the most impactful and important albums of all time, but I lack the context for it; I didn't grow up listening to The Beatles. It didn't click with me.

È davvero un peccato perché gli altri album dei Beatles che ho ascoltato qui erano proprio belli. Questo mi cade un po. Ho sorriso molto quando ho trovato qui una delle canzoni usate ne "I promessi sposi in 10 minuti”

This was an... experience. I'm not entirely sure what I just listened to but I think I know where early Panic! at the Disco got their inspiration from. This definitely works much better as an album than any of their "classic" singles do on their own. Wild.

7.35 Album. Has Its Highs and Lows

The sleeve is iconic and there are great songs on it, but its not that great. sorry not sorry

Love the Beatles earlier stuff. But this one just doesn’t quite do it for me. It’s fine. Just gets a bit too weird.

An ok album

I'll state upfront I love the Beatles music, it's all important and it's all beautiful so Ill review this ranked against the Beatles other albums. This isn't that good. Revolver has better songs. Magical mystery tour is more psychedelic,. The white album is more experimental. Please, please me has more energy. Most importantly it's the actual last Beatles album I would recommend to someone. 6/10 overrated

Overrated! The Kinks nailed the Little England concept album a year later, with The Village Green Preservation Society. With that said, A Day in the Life is one of the greatest songs ever written, and must have sounded like a bolt from the blue in ‘67.

слишком много цирка, я люблю поклассичнее, не мой любимый альбом

Lots of Art Rock. Most well known song probably "Lucy in the Sky with diamonds".

God start på den her plade, men bliver lidt kedelig i længden. Jeg var mere til Revolver, på trods af et par enkelte bangers på den her. Pladen virker som om den har haft mere fokus på konceptet, end at lave gode sange.

I wish this album was as good as everyone says it is. There's some great stuff, like a couple of the opening tracks, 'A Day in the Life' obviously, 'Mr Kite' is nice too. The rest is just not very interesting at all, or they try and make up for a mediocre song by throwing some weird instruments into the mix to throw you off and make you think you're listening to some great experimental bit of genius. The best bands of this era managed to make exciting and interesting songs while experimenting at the same time. The Beatles seem to always be struggling to manage that.

favorites - a day in the life, being for the benefit of mr kite, sgt. pepper’s lonely hearts club band least favorites - within you without you, fixing a hole

I think this is pretty mid to me. Not the greatest but not the worst. Despite its age it's something that is nice to hear of it's on kind of thing.

I do find the Beatles to be pleasant but they just don’t resonate with me much here. The album doesn’t make me feel much. This is supposedly their attempt to move from boy band(with all girl/woman) fans to ‘artistic’. I guess it worked in terms of critical review but it sort of just feels like they stole some stuff from India and did some drugs. Maybe I’m missing the historical significance because I wasn’t alive when it happened. Highlights - 1st 2 songs - A day in the life Low lights - Lovely Rita - Within you Without you

As much as I love The Beatles, this is not my favourite album from them. I can understand why it's in the top 1001 - it's experimental and textured. However, most of the songs on this one are too upbeat and commercial for me. My favourites (which are 5/5 for me) are Within You, Without You, She's Leaving Home, and A Day In The Life. The rest, I just find myself quickly irritated by.

Was never a fan, maybe this list can change my mind, this was listenable though

Nice album with some good songs on it 7/10

Not my favorite Beatles album, but still good.

started off strong, rest of album kinda meh fav song: lucy in the sky with diamonds

Oh wow, the Beatles.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band marks a significant artistic departure for The Beatles, showcasing their willingness to push boundaries and explore new sonic territories. The album's experimental nature challenges the conventions of pop music, inviting listeners to step outside of their comfort zones. As one of the first concept albums, it weaves together a cohesive narrative, showcasing the band's storytelling prowess. The iconic cover art remains a standout feature, captivating with its imaginative design. However, despite its acclaim, the album feels somewhat overrated, with many moments of filler and songs that may come across as overly simplistic or childish. It's difficult to separate the album's groundbreaking production achievements from personal preferences, as there are many other Beatles albums that resonate with me more. NUMBER OF BANGERS - 3 STAND OUT TRACK - A Day in the Life

I know it is a classic. I know I'm supposed to love The Beatles. But... it's just okay to me. Maybe I'll like another of their albums more. 3/5

I am going back and forth. There were some great tracks but then some that were just so out there that it seemed somewhat comical. It was also felt like such a departure from what they were, its like good kids who tried acid once and became completely enlightened and have to make sure everyone knows that they have done this. I don't hate it, but it makes me wonder if another band had released this album if it would have received such critical praise.

Kept me interested enough to finish the album but I probably won’t listen again too soon

not a big beatles fan but i did kinda enjoy that

The Beatles are a seminal and iconic group - I love them - but this album just doesn't do it for me. The first track is phenomenal, but the rest just isn't for me.

its alright no yellow submarine = mid 3/5

has its moments but overall is a little bit too noisy and annoying. Beatles for me are the most overrated band of all time. like their not bad but y'all are glazing them way too much. also the 60s as whole seem like a decade where you had to be there to get it, because psychedelic rock sounds like liquid trash flowing in your ears. I don't get it and that's probably fine, but every time I open my new album and see the release date being in the 60s I have no desire to listen to the album

Ok, so, it’s not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. In fact, it’s not bad at all! Really pleasantly surprised. 3 stars.

Eclectic album with classic hits all around solid work.

Some bangers but… overrated.

Crazy album with up and downs. I would probably only listen to "lucy in the sky with diamonds" and "a day in a life" more often. But musically a really good album.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was a fairly alright album. It was clear that here, the Beatles were actually trying some fairly interesting musical ideas including some circus themed musical stylings and for the most part, they worked fairly well. The album obviously was not perfect, the vocals were a bit iffy in some areas but they were mostly handled pretty well. While i don't think this album is better than Abbey Road, I would still easily put it above Rubber Soul. Best Song: Within You Without You Worst Song: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

This was my first Beatles record to hit me in my journey through this generator and in fact my first Beatles record full stop. Despite growing up in England I just never really bothered to go out of my way to listen to The Beatles of my own accord as they're so ingrained in pop culture here that it's hard not to hear many of their songs by doing nothing at all. Movies, TV shows and adverts all frequently feature the fab fours music so I've heard plenty of tracks without even trying. That said, I was rather excited to get this album as my first, as not only is the album cover ridiculously iconic, but it's also one of the best selling records of all time in the UK and up until 2018 it was THE best selling record. So it must be top quality to stand the test of time that long right? The album opens up with a "live" performance introducing the titular band before seguing into "With A Little Help From My Friends" (the one song I was already familiar with on this album) and honestly? Great intro. The title track has a great little guitar riff and McCartney's vocals are fantastic on it. Wasn't expecting The Beatles to rock like that straight out of the gate. There's some debate on whether this is the first concept album ever or not. Many say it is but McCartney himself says the band was influenced by Freak Out! by Frank Zappa. The intention being that the songs on this album are performed by the fictional titular band. But I was sad to see that the "live" sound and seamless transitions disappeared after Track 2. I wish that was something they'd carried on through the entire record. Nonetheless we're then into Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and to me, this is where the album starts to falter. The songs aren't necessarily bad but there's nothing outstanding about them, until we get to "Within You Without You" written by George Harrison that gives a pretty unique sound through use of the sitar. From here it's a slightly better, if still somewhat average run of tracks until we get to the title track reprise and then the true gem of this album. "A Day In The Life" is what I was expecting from The Beatles and from such a popular album. Great lyrics, very interesting and I imagine for the time massively creative songwriting, good stuff to leave the album off on. It's just a shame that there wasn't about 10 more tracks like that.

I don't think I like the Beatles near as much as most. I just don't fully get it.

The most overrated album in rock history. It's an interesting document of growing experimentation with recording technology and the art of production as part of music composition. It's the beatles, so there are lots of interesting melodic phrases, great sounding little guitar fills, and good basslines (doing a funny tuba oompa boompa thing all over the place), but the lyrics are all pretty insipid and the whole brass band concept album thing is pretty stupid. There are so many joke songs for an album always held up as the pinnacle of serious rock artistry. And somehow Ringo has the 3rd best song and the 2nd best one is George's psychadelic raga. It's just way too much of a Paul cartoon brain album. A Day in the Life is great though, like the wrapped up the concept album thing and realized they forgot to include any actually good tracks so stuck a bonus one on the end.

First Beatles album I've deliberately listened to. Definitely interesting, much more diverse of a sound than I had thought. Don't know if I'd go back to this one though.

The intro promises an oh so proggy album. But the tracks end up sickly sweet and disjointed nevertheless...the only real gem is A Day In The Life. -1 additional star for John Lennon's explicit admission of beating his first wife.

I’m not sure the Beatles are an “album” band, rather than a “song” band, but this might be as close as they ever got. Can’t say for sure, but I’m pretty confident about that.

I've never understood the hype for this one. It's good, but not a favorite

Half this half is certified classics and the other half is unlistenable. I’m not sure what to do with this information.

Best Song: With a Little Help From My Friends. The best vocals on the album, for sure. That punctate, bouncy rhythm really suits the uplifting feel of the song as well. Worst Song: Getting Better. The Beatles have an uncanny penchant for making songs that are maximally annoying with minimal runtime. Just inane repetition of a hook that wasn't interesting the first time. Overall: Maybe this is just my modernity, but for an album that's touted as being so weird an experimental, this sounds fairly ordinary. Sure there are a few tracks that are a bit more out-there, but I don't see it as being a grand departure from what the Beatles had already been doing. It may have pushed the industry to allow freer, more experimental music, but experiencing it as a modern listener is anything but revelatory.

Beetje saai

Its fine, better than the white album. A couple classics

The second half of the album lacked the energy and sort of fell off

I’ve gotten the three highest rated Beatles albums on this website. I’ve given all of them 3/5. Am I cooked?

Solid experimental album not the Beatles best tho low 7/10

Kinda lacks emotion. The Beatles are excellent at making music, meaning nothing ever sounds bad, no tune, instrument, vocals, or song. But most of the songs on this album feel insignificant. Nothing instilled an emotion or afterthought in me besides "sounds good". Feels like watching da Vinci drawing stick figures.

Listening sober Don't ❤️ with a little help from my friends as much as the Joe crocker version. But is this the original version? Must research. In Getting Better mans actually talking about abusing his lady? Physically and emotionally? But he's getting better now... glad for the growth, can't say I love the song. Within You Without You: LOVE. The bollywood vibe rules and the lyrics are very awesome. When I'm 64... adorable 🥰 A Day In The Life: can see why someone would like it but it doesn't speak to me much. Overall, I think the generational gap proves to be a bit much throughout the album. It's an easy listen but was difficult for me to get "in" to since most was unrelatable to me.

not a huge beatles fan, some good tunes

liked the beginning tracks and the end track, everything else got blurred into one x

My ranking of the album’s songs: 1. Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds 2. A Day In The Life 3. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band 4. Getting Better 5. Fixing A Hole 6. Good Morning Good Morning 7. Within You Without You 8. With A Little Help From My Friends 9. She’s Leaving Home 10. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band /Reprise 11. Lovely Rita 12. Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite (not a fan of this song) 13. When I’m Sixty Four (this is goofy)

Only heard this one a hundred times!

not really my thing

Pas un gros fan des Beatles, leurs morceaux expérimentaux sont les plus sympas

Ive had this on vinyl since the early 80s. Its had a lot of play over the years. Goes through all the various Beatles music styles.

Let's be honest. They were better in the red album era. I've never really liked this album all the times I've heard it, and this time was no different. There are a few tracks I like, such as "When I'm Sixty-Four" and the middle part of "A Day in the Life". The melody of "With a Little Help from My Friends" has grown on me over the years. They key thing about these tracks, I think, is that they are in keeping with a more melodic style. The rest is LSD-fuelled nonsense. Three stars for the few I like.

Honestly not a huge fan. I like the more pop oriented stuff the Beatles put out. This album is interesting, but I would never seek it out there’s not really a -vibe- there besides weird. 3/5

some classic tunes on here obviously and I can see why it was so ground breaking at the time but it doesn't really do the job for me.

Overrated

Not that great of a Beatles fan and this album, whilst I appreciate it, is not one that hits home for me, especially through the middle section where it gets a bit out there. Best song - Lovely Rita

not their best one

2024-01-19

the first 3 or 4 songs are good, then it goes downhill fast

egentligen känns det inte som man kan ge något annat än 4 eller 5 till beatles, men detta album känns som en svag 4a alternativt en stark 3:a Namnam på Lucy in the sky with diamonds

Muy experimental

Good album historically but just can’t get into it

A classic from the jurassic...... transports back to early teen years, when this was considered to be so HUGE!!!..... and it's now just a meager half hour of listening......

I love The Beatles! This one is a little too Renaissance Faire for me, though. I love the intro to the whole album.

Though the it is a classic rock album, I found the original version to be rough as far as the mixing and sound engineering goes. I listened to a remixed version of the album and enjoyed it. There are several classic tracks on the album.

It was just okay. I don't really The Beatles.

Not much to note, it was good bg music for me

Whatever

Quite an okay album, certainly found no songs that stood out for me but the thing as a whole was quite listenable;also was the first anything(asides Yesterday)that I've heard from The Beetles

A classic album which I have somehow avoided listening to in it's entirety. It has some stand out tracks on it and one of the best album covers of all time, but the psychadelia and circus influences are not for me.

Very pop up/theatre troupe band, some classic hits from brit pop stars

#71. Decent 3/5

Może być. Jakieś fragmenty country nawet. 3/5

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - 8/10 With A Little Help From My Friends - 9/10 Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - 7/10 Getting Better - 8/10 Fixing A Hole - 7/10 She's Leaving Home - 8/10 Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite! - 7/10 Within You Without You - 6/10 When I'm Sixty Four - 7/10 Lovely Rita - 8/10 Good Morning Good Morning - 7/10 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - 7/10 A Day In The Life (Remastered 2009) - 7/10 TOTAL - 90/130

I generally can't listen to more than a few Beatles songs in succession. This was no exception. I can appreciate the song writing and there undoubtedly a few fantastic songs on this, but I just can't deal with the vocals. They aren't exactly grating, but they are pretty fucking close and it ruins what could otherwise be a great album.

Some absolute stars here. Great closer. LSD is just the right level of twee. I sung With a Little Help From My Friends for my year 6 leavers. It's also an album that has patchy recreations of styles that don't really work for them. Some songs are just a groan. But I still reckon these guys are gonna be big! Three and a half. Fave track: Day in the Life

Creative. Like speaking to the listener.

Par bas brutalnih al nekak sve skupa mi nije tolko uslo u uho.

Ionno, it's the Beatles

It's fine. I don't like it as much anymore. Most of the tracks are good though.

Easy listening. But not really for me

Задумчивый такой Битлз. Не особо понял... Хотя есть интересные по идее треки

better than Abbey Road not as good as Rubber Soul. at least it was generally interesting and A Day In The Life is a great song

Thought it was ok Didn't love but didn't hate

I expected more. I knew a lot of these songs but hadn’t listened in the context of the full album. I found it dull in place but hard to imagine hearing it in the context of its time.

Good Morning Good Morning zorgt voor paniek in huize Tehu, want Gappie shrikt van alle dieren. A day in the life begon als mijn favoriete nummer, denk dat dat mijn favoriete nummer is. Gebeurt muzikaal echt heel veel wat ik nice vind, vooral die explosie van geluid rond 2 minuten en dan de complete stilte. FAVO: Lucy in the sky with diamonds, When I'm sixty four, Lovely Rita, a day in the life

A fine album and admittedly the very first Beatles album I have ever listened to (in 2023- thanks for the punk rock dad!). Ill need to listen to the others front to back to get a sense of where this falls in there catalogue but it's so easy to see how prolific and influential they were. There were moments where I truly believed they were gunna really rock out, and the psychedelic bits were nice.

Listened before. It's fun but not my style

There's some cool songs (yes I like a day in the life) but the whole in between of the album is pure nothing. could be like 4 or 5 songs tbh.

I'm fully aware of the cultural impact of this album - for which it deserves 5 stars very easily. But rating it in terms of my personal enjoyment... it's all over the place and I'm simply not at all a fan of the incoherent, dissonant psychedelia bits. While certainly not horrible, I consider this album among the weakest outputs of The Beatles. It may have its moments, but I'll take The White Album or Abbey Road over Sgt. Pepper's any day.

I don't feel like I have the right to say anything about this album, as it's all been said before. I'm not a fan. I feel like if there was a default music for people born after 1950 this would be it.

Just okay tbh

Pretty, pretty, pretty good

I know it is good, just not for me. As usual with a Beatles album, one song is really good, the rest are just so-so. I just don't see the magic.

I think the good songs are great and the corny songs are kinda difficult for me to care about. It’s a good exemplification of what I enjoy and find annoying about the Beatles. A day in the life? Amazing. Good morning good morning?? Ehh…

Alright

Despite the hype, this album is a very mixed bag. A few great songs. A few terrible songs. And a few... more songs.

First Beatles album I’ve listened to, I think I’d get more out of it if I had listened to it as a progression from their earlier stuff. Plus it gave me horrible flashbacks to when we had Beatles Rockband set up in Game sauchiehall street and people playing the same songs badly over and over again. It was good though

Not just giving 5 cuz Beatles.

Surprisingly progressive sounding for its time. Some very enjoyable songs but nothing that stands out to me.

Enjoyable, but I think I kinda missed the boat on this one. it just doesn’t grab me probably because I’ve heard so much of what has been written as a result of it. Best tracks: Opener, being for the benefit of mr kite!, when I’m 64

Good songs are great but way too many duds on here, just didn't do it for me on this listen

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds & A Day in the Life.

There are a few great songs in this one, but overall not their best album.

Day in A Life is a banger. Everything else is so so.

There's no denying the influence and impact this album had on music and popular culture. And yes, A Day In A Life is a truly great song. But...I do think this album is somewhat overrated and it get so highly regarded because it's the "first" or the beginning of the rock album era. I do think there are others that followed are much better. Granted, I'm not the biggest Beatles fan, (I don't hate them but I don't love them either) so that might tilt my bias a bit. Still, it's fine but there is a lot of filler on here.

“[we] nicked a few ideas” Credit where credit is due blah blah blah this probably the Beatles’ worst record and easily their most overrated. They listened to Pet Sounds and tried to make something better and they failed. It seems to me that a lot of what is considered “avant-garde” and “experimental” about this is in most cases, completely derivative. In a way, the LHCB alter ego is a perfect cover - hollow, phony, a band playing music that sounds like someone else’s ideas. When you strip away the first couple layers you’re left with a few classics and a lot of cornball junk.

Хороший, но не лучший альбом Битлз

I enjoyed this more than other Beatles music, to be honest. I usually find some of their more popular songs boring by today's standards. While I am still not a huge Beatles fan this did help me appreciate them more.

I appreciate that this album was a turning point for the Beatles and the genre, but I generally don’t love it. Musically I find it weaker than other albums of theirs even with their experimentation with unique instruments. The opening is fun but some middle songs are snoozers. A lot of this is personal preference but it’s just not my favorite.

I like the first half of the album better than the second half. Better than what I was expecting, this was the first Beatles album I've heard.

I mean, there are some bangers in here. There's also a fair amount of "we got high and thought this was funny"

все еще не понимаю хайпа вокруг битлс сложно что-то выделить

гораздо веселее, чем ожидалось. приятновое, но как-то выделить альбомчик вообще не могу

Oh your teachers weren’t cool enough for you, McCartney? Boo boo. I like when I’m 64.

Favorite Song: Probably Fixing A Hole. It was okay? It just didn't stand out to me.

I have nothing to say but it's ok. I don't get it. the Beatles are overrated. within you, without you because it sounds like nusrat. i can't imagine someone loving that song but not nusrat. a day in the life is almost a 4.

Cool moments surrounded by pretty dull stuff. Basically how I feel about most of the Beatles.

Tämä on Beatlesia, ihan hyvää sitä. Vähän liian show mut ok

With a Little Help from My Friends on mahtava biisi (erityisesti Ringon, ei Cockerin, vetämänä), ja A Day in the Life olisi oikein hyvä ilman ylimääräistä pelleilyä (jep). Muutoin tästä LP:stä pitäminen on riippuvaista mielentilasta, mikä on aina huolestuttavaa. Ja esim. Lucy in the Sky with Diamondsia ei ole mikään mielentila koskaan pelastanut.

Pues está bueno sisi

i know this is like an "important" album musically, but honestly not one that i would really come back and listen to again

6/10. Some fun songs on there, good writing but just feels dated for my taste. She’s leaving home is a fav.

There's some great songs on here, the first three or four in particular. It's weird, in that I don't think I'd ever properly heard this one all the way through before. There's definitely a lot more expansive stuff on here compared to other Beatle's records, but I personally think there's a lot of misses in here too. There's also some stuff I actively dislike as well. I'm not digging 'Within You Without You' at all (sorry George).

This is a me-thing, but I'm very meh on The Beatles. This album is fine-ok.

nice album, middle is a bit weird, sounds foreign like musically. I love with a little help from my friends.

This was a better listen than The White Album and Rubber Soul, and I enjoyed some of the more experimental parts.

so close to a four but just doesn't make it for me

Another album that is more notable due to who made it rather than the album's own merits. It's fine.

Never been a big Beatles fan, but also never hated them. Enjoyed their LSD journey.

Iconic band, but I think I need to smoke whatever they are smoking

Not to my taste

good. like seeing the experimental stuff come out, but still just good.

Third listen. I feel strange only giving this a 3. I do love “A Day In The Life”, but the other songs still don’t really stand out to me. I don’t know why, just personal taste. Don’t have much specific to say about this.

3. Good. Might listen again every now and then.

Clearly groundbreaking and influential but lots of odd kitschy songs (when I'm 64 is like an 80s sitcom theme), surprised this gets so much praise from a music standpoint. Was alright

Not a classic - I found it incredibly indulgent. About 4 good (and to be fair they are very good) songs, and the rest wanky psychadelic nonsense.

Sgt pepper, Lucy in the sky, and a day in the life are all really good songs...... I'm just not sure the rest of the album is all that interesting! Yes it was probably revolutionary, but I'm just not that into the Beatles

Pleasant enough. As with all the Beatles albums I've listened to there are some good songs that are rightly iconic but also some clangers.

A.K.A. The Beatles get high AF and make an album

Admitting to abusing your partner in the 4th track of a keystone album is a bold move. The album open strong with some of my favorite tracks by the band, which is kind of impressive considering I never really gelled with m9st of The Beatles catalogue, but kinda fades into a series 9f tracks that fade into the background and just sound like commercial jingles, in like the best way possible. Catchy ear worms that kinda don't matter or ask much of you as a listener. Really fun background music but hardly something that's engaging my attention on a deeper level. But then that last track really forces you to confront the lyrics. Pretty baller way to end TBH. 3/5

I don’t love all Beatles tracks but it’s hard to not recognize and appreciate how amazing their sound is. Within you without you and day in the life are the standouts for me. Deeply pensive tracks. Haunting.

Good album not as good as it praised. I THOUGHT YELLOW SUBMARINE WAS ON IT BUT I WAS wrong

Non male ma un po' da beatles

This is a middling Beatles album at best. A number of gimmicky songs take away from the overall product. It is a little silly at times. Beatles albums always gotta have a yellow submarine-esque song I suppose, but it dont need more than one, do it?

Never loved this. Too inconsistent, especially knowing what they were capable of. (previously listened)

Productions good, songs kinda jump around

Overated album and band.

it's an early concept album i liked it

When I set aside the impact and 'being the first to do X', judging it purely on what I hear. It's alright, maybe I expected more.

Starts quite nicely, slows down to a drawl by the middle, picks up again by the end

Very influential, great productional experiments but ultimately only song that really intrigued and touched me (A day in a life)

I've listened to this album before and love it. 1-classic and a fantastic opener for an album 2-love this song too 3-an absolute trip 4-i mean how can you be upset when listening to this song. He doesn't even beat his woman anymore 5-like this one a lot too 6-slow song, its okay 7-bass slaps. Love the whimsicalness of this song 8-this is what you hear when the acid hits and youre watching the walls dance 9-this songs jokey 10-meter maid? 11-bambambam Fell off towards the end tbh

Not for me

I’ve listened to this album many times. I think everyone has a Beatles phase and this was one that perplexed me. I never really understood why this album is held in such high regard.
