The Gun Club 'Fire Of Love' 1981
I'd never heard of this, so had absolutely no preconceptions, other than the cover, and that turned out to be a red herring.
There's apparently some cross pollinating with The Bad Seeds. Anyway, I like it. I would describe their sound as psychobilly with a sinister/dark edge.
Solid 7/10.

This is really quite a decent offering and very much a surprise to my ears. I was always under the impression that TSAHB were proper dad rock, and to be fair there's an element of glam rock, which is to be expected for the time, however there's a smattering of very good tracks, 'The Faith Healer' is excellent. Absolutely bang on for bland naughties, 'experimental' indie fodder that was synonymous for the period.
I had no idea what this was, and having listened, I'm baffled as to why it's even on the list.
This is the kind of album that's made for a glowing Pitchfork review. You know it's going to be massively overrated and hailed by that pretentious millennial muso still living his uni years, despite holding down a job as a lab technician in Kettering.

Played this a lot back in the day, particularly in the car. It also benefits from not hearing in a while, because it's decent, though very much of the age. Also, I'm reminded me of the non-metal period I sustained for a while during the nineties.

I'd never heard a Brian Eno album, in fact I'm not sure I've ever experienced any of his music ever before.
So I had no preconceptions about what this was about. To be frank, I still don't know what I've just heard, and it probably demands further listening, which isn't going to happen. I will put this down as a 6/10 , I didn't dislike it, but there were moments of WTF is this?

Nope, never heard of this.
Started brightly with shades of Daft Punk/New Order/Working Mens Club, but soon disappeared up its own backside and simply became a nonentity as the minutes dragged by. I can imagine this being a mainstay of RSD reissues in coloured vinyl and alternative sleeves! Something to cherish for 'hip' 6 Music Dads out there, desperately trying to maintain their relevance.
Why is it here? I expect Pitchfork can answer.

Yes
1971
So, I've got this, and for a while I used to wax lyrical about how Yes should be reverred in a godlike status. The musicianship and technical ability being demonstrated is pure prog. However, whilst I love the opener, 'Roundabout' and the production of the album as a whole. I find, as I've got older, it's all a tad arrogant and self-indulgent, and interludes between the main tracks are simply 'look-at-me' statements for each member of the band.

RHCP have made one good album and this isn't it.
The misogynistic overtone of the lyrics, and Kiedis generally being an unlikable individual make this an unrewarding listen.

It's really hard to put a lable on SFA, such is their diverse and experimental sound, this album being one of the most genre bending of their discography.

I've heard this album so many times; Wiki, there's no death metal!
'Receptacle For The Respectable' and 'No Sympathy' are absolute monsters and demonstrate SFA at their most 'don't give a fuck' attitude.

I know this is meant to be a classic and indeed deserves it's place on this list, but I've always thought of Cream as being suitably catered for by owning a Greatest Hits compilation (which I do). The big tracks here, I am familiar with, and they are bangers, but some of the filling is typical of 60s output, and doesn't deserve to be on the same slab of vinyl.
