I'd never heard of this, so had absolutely no preconceptions, other than the cover, and that turned out to be a red herring.
There's apparently some cross pollinating with The Bad Seeds. Anyway, I like it. I would describe their sound as psychobilly with a sinister/dark edge.

I've not heard of this artist before, but what a tremendous find. American soul music isn't my natural go to, but it's hard to deny greatness when you hear it. A couple of tracks I recognised, so not all new to me.
'Eli's Comin'' and 'Stoned Soul Picnic' are bangers. A definate Northern soul feel.

JC is an acquired taste, and this album certainly demands a lot of the listener. He's a bit mad really, but I'm here for the experience. There's some Nick Cave similarities in the songwriting and delivery too.

I've heard of this artist, but had no preconceptions going in.
Result: this isn't for me. Each track takes an age to get going, and frankly it's just a bit boring. If you take the vocals out of the equation, there's very little left. She is clearly talented, and clearly people like her work, but there's nothing here for me to make me want to return.

I get that there's some meaning, earnest reflection and story telling in the lyrical content, but just a piano or an acoustic guitar for background music results in the whole experience being somewhat one-dimensional.

This is really quite a decent offering and very much a surprise to my ears. I was always under the impression that TSAHB were proper dad rock, and to be fair there's an element of glam rock, which is to be expected for the time, however there's a smattering of very good tracks, 'The Faith Healer' is excellent. There's also some utter rubbish 'Giddy Up A Ding Dong', as the name suggests, is horrific. Less novelty would make this a better album.

It does sound dated, but not in a bad way and the tracks I'm familiar with came as a surprise to find them here, particular 'Seven and Seven Is', which is decent and sounds very influential for what was to come from stable mates The Doors.

Not just something I like, but my all time favourite and most played album.
I have this on multiple formats and various mixes.
Amazing jazz fusion, which as an 18 year old, opened up my music listening world to alternatives to the mainstream.
I still adore this album, and play it regularly, 38 years after first hearing it.

The only Hendrix studio album in my collection, mainly because of 'Crosstown Traffic', a favourite which appears early on. At 75 minutes though, it may be a bit on the long side, but that's a harsh criticism which is offset by some amazing tracks along the way, and what a finish, with 'All Along The Watchtower' and 'Voodoo Chile' (Slight Return).
I confess, I'd forgotten how good this really is.

Started brightly with shades of Daft Punk/New Order/Working Mens Club, but soon disappeared up its own backside and simply became a nonentity as the minutes dragged by. I can imagine this being a mainstay of RSD reissues in coloured vinyl and alternative sleeves! Something to cherish for 'hip' 6 Music Dads out there, desperately trying to maintain their relevance.

So, I've got this, and for a while I used to wax lyrical about how Yes should be reverred in a godlike status. The musicianship and technical ability being demonstrated is pure prog. However, whilst I love the opener, 'Roundabout' and the production of the album as a whole. I find, as I've got older, it's all a tad arrogant and self-indulgent, and interludes between the main tracks are simply 'look-at-me' statements for each member of the band.
Punk needed to happen.

The big tracks here, I am familiar with, and they are bangers, but some of the filling is typical of 60s output, and doesn't deserve to be on the same slab of vinyl. Also, Clapton turned out to be a bit of a prick.

On the face of it, a step up from 'Heathen', but essentially a collection of dark, art rock tracks, which in places hail back to his late 70s output, without seemingly offering much in the way of a coherent experience for the listener.

Metalhead that I am, it seems inconceivable that I've not heard this before.
There's clearly lots of influential material here, and I can see why Venom are held up as pioneers of the thrash genre.
The production is a bit naff, which is a shame because there's some decent tracks struggling to get out and some very obvious trail blazing sounds.
The 'Big Four' and Voïvod all cite Venom as being responsible for shaping their sound.
It's a bit heavy on the satanic elements!

Jamiroquai are my 'guilty pleasure', and yes, that shouldn't be a thing; like what you want etc!
There's always been an accusation of 'cultural appropriation' levelled at Jay Kay (the only constant member), but, and this is the important bit, what they do, they do very well.
The album oozes energy, funk and exceptional musicianship.
Like a lot of 90s albums though, it's too long.

It's easy to be there in the room, the smell of tobacco, the drink flowing, the sounds of the fret clicks and string chirps, and the hum of the audience gently murmuring in the background.

There's no doubt that the songs on this album are perfect indie pop, they're cleverly written and resonate with real life experiences. That's why this album will always be a classic of its time.
That said, the tracks are so ubiquitous that they have now lost their impact after many years of being over-played on daytime radio.
I don't need to hear this ever again, but a long as I continue to listen to the radio, I'm sure I will.

Hardcore jazz punk, apparently, but too noisy for jazz purists, and too "intellectual" for punks.

The first three Queen albums are pretty damn good, their 4th is the moment I find myself no longer a fan.
There are undoubtedly some high moments, but there's also too much ragtime musical filler nonsense.
I understand that the innovation and the revolutionary production techniques are what forms this albums reputation, and Bohemian Rhapsody certainly underpins this, but the metal and hard rock edge of earlier releases are largely missing from the rest of the album.

It's very fashionable to knock Oasis, and rightly so, when it comes to the arrogance, greed and general nobendery displayed by the Gallaghers.
However, I cannot give this less than 4★ because it remains so important and defining of the era, especially so if you're GenX.
The album is full of bangers, if now overplayed, but on the big hi-fi, on vinyl, it still kicks arse.
It's been a long while since I played this in full.
