Day 11 - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967) Sgt. Pepper's is my favourite Beatles album, and although my taste has gradually shifted from classic rock / pop, it remains beloved in my heart. I have a vintage UK vinyl record of Sgt. Pepper's from the 1970s. I've listened Sgt. Pepper's Remastered and Sgt. Pepper's Deluxe so many times that I know every note, word, and arrangement. Sgt. Pepper's pioneered rock music, whether with the brilliant Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, serene She's Leaving Home, or the ethereal A Day In The Life. There is arguably no "weak" song, and even the lesser-known tracks ("Good Morning, Good Morning") add more depth to the album. TL;DR: Sgt. Pepper's is the pinnacle of rock music, and you'd have to be blind, deaf, and even then foolish to not acknowledge its influence.

Entire album is a masterpiece. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds, With a Little Help From My Friends, Getting Better, and When I'm Sixty-four are some of my favorite Beatles songs. A Day In The Life is one of my favorite songs of all time. 20/10. No rating is high enough.
What can be said about probably the most critically acclaimed record of all time? It doesn’t even have a ton of amazing songs but everything just flows. A perfect snapshot of the summer of love.

The Beatles were good. This is a top three album of theirs in my opinion. Even Ringo got a good one in there. It's hard to find anything wrong with it.

Better than I remembered!
Another album that I'm probably too close to to be able to evaluate objectively; at one point this was my favorite Beatles album, but now I think I would rank it fourth. It's still an easy 5/5 though. I love George's solo on Fixing a Hole. Ringo's drumming on A Day In The Life is masterful.

An absolute classic!!!
The quintessential Beatles album, and perhaps the one that comes to mind the most for the average punter whenever they think of the Fab Four. Contains arguably the best song they ever recorded in ‘A Day In The Life’, but there are highlights aplenty, such the druggy ‘Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds’, the whimsical ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’, future theme song for The Wonder Years and Joe Cocker special, ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’, ‘Lovely Rita’ with the slightly subversive ending and so on and so forth. An album full of subtext, brimming with creativity and sonic experimentation galore (it’s incredibly produced), and designed to be listened to as a full artistic statement from start to finish, not just as a bunch of songs thrown together onto a record. Anyway, there aren’t enough superlatives you can lavish on ‘Sgt. Pepper’. It was incredible in 67’, it’s incredible today, and will still be incredible in 100 years from now.

Vaudeville and music hall is such a pervasive influence on English culture, especially in the 60s and 70s! You even see it in Iron Maiden gigs. A day in the life is a perfect ending to the album. The most influential album of all time? God, imagine this with Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. Song by song not my favourite album, or even my favourite Beatles album, but daaaaamn
very progressive for the 1960's. Even though I'm not a huge fan of the Beatles finding their music a little uninteresting I can recognize it's cultural impact and the influence it had on many of the musicians I love.
Okay, I have to tell the story about this insane coincidence I experienced in regards to this album. Last night, I was looking around on itch.io for games and I saw one that included the phrase "a day in the life" in the title. So me, having brain rot, said out loud, "Oh my god, a day in the life? Beatles reference?" I then noticed the time and decided to check on what my next album would be. As I did this, I, again, said out loud, "Now watch me get a Beatles album." Lo and behold, I got Sgt. Pepper's and, needless to say, I was shocked. You know what else is needless to say? "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a really good album." What can I really say? It's The Beatles at the start of their peak. The songwriting is solid with there being a very light, but noticeable, concept for the album, making this one of the first notable concept albums to really hit it big. The sound is still great. I listened to the most recent mixing of this album and it sounds great. There's some nice transitions between songs and the variety between each and every song on this album is just wonderful. There's some very interesting choices that, in my opinion, work to make this album better. Letting George make his Indian-inspired song, having a song that only features John, Paul, and string instruments, and various others make this a very bold album for the time. And do I even need to talk about the sorta aforementioned "A Day in the Life?" That ending is just magnificent. Overall, while I do like Abbey Road more, Sgt. Pepper's is a great album that deserves to be considered one of the best of all time. 5/5.

My favorite Beatles Album since 7th grade.
Well of course it’s great. We all know that already.
I like the Beatles and love a lot of their songs... but i am not a die hard fan that thinks that everything is amazing. because Beatles is not only a musical phenomenon but also a cultural it is often under a heavy bias in from my point of view. For me the album starts of with a great introduction, some hits then fades into a mix between pop songs and easy listening psychedelic songs and before you know it you end with a day in the life (which i mostly remember the "i heard the news.." parts). Its a great album but i feel that i only remember the beginning and the end and maybe some bits and pieces in the middle. But hey, that's just my take as a regular listener and a non Beatles fan. it is still a nice album with some great tunes and a significant importance to music history

Really great songwriting! That’s Beatles
I think you had to be there in order to understand the hype around the Beatles. This is my first listen of the album. I don't know if I've heard any of these songs before, but it's possible. It's the Beatles. This is the absolutely worst rendition of 'With a Little Help from My Friends' that I've ever heard. They should have sold it instead of recording it themselves. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is just trash. Skipped half of Fixing a Hole because it was just boring. That's really the issue with The Beatles. A lot of their songs are just... boring. Most of them sound empty and devoid of life and I know that's not an 'era' thing because other songs recorded during that time don't have that issue. Within You Without You finally sounds like a song that has something going on that's aurally interesting. Too bad you had to wait until the 8th track on the album to have something worth listening to. When I'm Sixty Four is at least catchy. Lovely Rita brings us back to bad music. Completely skippable. This is supposed to be one of The Beatles greatest albums, isn't it? Well, it has one song worth listening to and one song that's catchy, though I'd prefer to listen to someone else perform it. Maybe that's the issue. Maybe they should just be songwriters shopping their music instead of performing it themselves. Also, the choice at the last two songs to go into utter dissonance was awful and unnecessary.

Obvious game-changer, raising the bar on how the studio could be used as an instrument. While the Sgt. Pepper-themed material hasn’t aged so well, tracks like “Within You Without You” and “A Day in the Life” sound as fresh and innovative today as they did all those years ago…
Let's be honest. They were better in the red album era. I've never really liked this album all the times I've heard it, and this time was no different. There are a few tracks I like, such as "When I'm Sixty-Four" and the middle part of "A Day in the Life". The melody of "With a Little Help from My Friends" has grown on me over the years. They key thing about these tracks, I think, is that they are in keeping with a more melodic style. The rest is LSD-fuelled nonsense. Three stars for the few I like.

worst era of a 5/5 discography. i don't find these as catchy as the albums before or as close to a masterpiece as the later albums. that said, i still love some of the songs on this album, 'a day in the life', 'being for the benefit of mr.kite!' and 'lucy in the sky with diamonds'.

It really is a great album. As with revolver, it is always good to hear the “other” songs that aren’t on their blue album or on a greatest hits type list. From front to back, it’s an entertaining album with fun and well written songs.
This felt more like an album than revolver. It did not have as many of the big hits, but I enjoyed the flow and I was surprised when I was almost done listening to the album.

What more can be said? Inspired by the Beach Boy's "Pet Sounds", The Beatles accepted the challenge and advanced their musical depth by huge leaps and bounds. Incredible to compare the bubblegum sound of "Meet the Beatles" to this gem four years later. Every track is terrific.
I always thought it was my favorite album - and I love a day in the life - but is it really the Beatles best work?
Although George is my fave, his 'Within You, Without You' is the only out-of-place thing on this disc. Nevertheless, I'll give the record a high 5 with or without that track.
Simply the greatest album of all time. Even if it had come out today it would be incredible but the fact it is nearly 60 years old and changed the course of music makes it even more extraordinary.

This is the first album of my 1,001 that I was familiar with, and it's not my favorite Beatles album. Most of the songs are a bit too drug-fueled for my taste, although of course "When I'm 64" and "She's Leaving Home" and "A Day in the Life" are great.
This is the first Beatles album I’ve listened to all the at through. Very interesting songs. The last song was pretty jarring and unexpected.
Absolute legendary classic, superb tracks from start to finish. Beatles at their peak. Easy listening, engaging, lots of interesting and unique songs. Awesome vibes.

Absolutely love the Beatles. This is beyond a doubt an amazing album and the first one to get 5 stars before I even listened to it.
Sampling the sound of cheering crowds, George Martin is the 5th Beatle. Woof.

Super enjoyable. Lucy is my favorite song off this album because of the time I saw the Circ de Solei show. The performance for that track was beautifully enchanting and I just hold it so dear to my heart. That whole show was amazing. Anyway, I don't think I can rate it above 4 because I'd only add Lucy to my main playlist.

There's not much left to be said for this album. A total classic, it was one of the, if not *the*, album which set out the possibilities of the recording studio. The songs are top notch. It would be churlish to rate this at anything less than 5. But... I personally find some of the more music hall styles songs rather mawkish. Maybe I've just been exposed to this album for too many decades!

I have actually listened to this album before and love The Beatles’ music. However, I’m not too familiar with every single song so I re listened to this album to refresh my memory and fell in love with it again. My favourite tracks were: She’s leaving home, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, Good morning good morning, and With a little help from my friends. I didn’t find any bad tracks so I will listen to more of this album.
They are one of the greatest bands of all time for a reason. So much talent represented in this band. Many of the songs were familiar, although this is the first time I’ve listened to the album start to finish. Seems a good representation of what I know about them. Poppy British rock that stands the test of time with catchy tunes and lyrics. It’s art for sure.

Welp. These guys are good. This must be the album that started a bunch of different themes in the modern music culture from eastern sounds, to circus/carnival sounds. They did it first and i enjoyed it inspite of every one always raving about this band. It was good and I may listen to it again some day. 4/5
1. I don't like the first track. It's ridiculous and there are too many strange sounds that don't want to go together. 2. This track is quite nice. Chilled with a nice beat. Nothing overly pitchy or annoying. 3. The lyrics are good but the pitchy instrument the song starts with is incredibly annoying to the ear. Would be so much better with more piano and less pitchy noise. 4. This song started promising but quickly became repetitive and ended up leaving no impression other than the need for it to finish faster. 5. It leaves no impression and makes no real mark, but it's enjoyable filler. 6. The strings on this is so beautiful. Feels like a poem put to music in a dreamscape. I liked it. 7. The drums were annoying. Sounded like bad vocals over a marching band practice. And then there's the carnival sounds that didn't belong at all. They did the wrong drugs while recording this track. 8. The indian instumental an indian influence sounded nice, but was out of place with the vocals. The vocals were hazy and didn't coherently fit. 9. This song was cute. I liked it. 10. They lyrics are very very dated. I'm sure it sounded better in the 60's and 70's. The song didn't make an impact. 11. Is that a freakin Kazoo i hear? And farm animals? This song is a jumbled mess of sounds and instruments. Not even the vocals make it sound like 1 coherent song. It sounds awful. I hated it. 12. Better than the version on track 1, but still not a good song. Thankfully it was very short. 13. The song wasn't awful, but the vocals, once again, are too far in the background. As if though it were an echo of what it's supposed to be. And again, the marching band and random sounds ruin something that could have been mediocre, but has been elevated to awful. All in all, I don't like this album. Would never listen to it ever again.

Almost felt imposing have to write a review about this album. Every song features state of the art production and has aged perfectly thanks to its often unconventional techniques. The performances are spot on. Each part is far more complex than any before (hear the way McCartney's bass contributes its own powerful melodies while guiding the listeners ear) and full of diverse, inspired instrumentation. The use of reverb and echo create the most authentic aural simulation of psychedelia ever created, tying the album together in its daydream-like sunshine. Even the songs that are weaker than the average from Revolver (Lovely Rita, Fixing a Hole) are delivered in a way that supercedes anything done before - and possibly after - by the band. More than any album before it, Sgt Pepper is best enjoyed as an album than just a set of songs. Every song flows perfectly and its clever use of segues bring the album to life far more than Revolver. Each track flows perfectly into each other, for example the eruptive transition between Good Morning and the remarkable finale of the reprise and the Beatles' masterpiece, A Day In The Life. Altogether, Sgt Pepper is a remarkable piece of art and timeless contemporary pop.

My father had this album in his collection. Listening to it yesterday trying to have a fresh perspective what I took from the listening was that it is an album of stories loosely tied together. Good album.

I love The Beatles! This one is a little too Renaissance Faire for me, though. I love the intro to the whole album.
One of the most famous Beatles albums, and at the time revolutionary for a rock record. While I think Abbey Road is a better album and some songs feel a bit dated now, it's impact is hard to measure. Also, the remix from a few years ago, gave the record a new and different sonic feel, and I noticed a few of new things.
Though the it is a classic rock album, I found the original version to be rough as far as the mixing and sound engineering goes. I listened to a remixed version of the album and enjoyed it. There are several classic tracks on the album.

Something I noticed a few months ago while listening to one of the best compilations of the Beatles was that I knew almost 95% of the songs. I don't particularly care for the Beatles and I don't go out of my way to listen to them with this listening being an exception that. This album was a similar experience. I knew every track on it. Its an amazing journey/experience to listen to. Especially within you without you.

Wow what a coincidence! I just listened to Abbey Road on my own and loved it a ton, lets see how this compares! So many hits on this one I probably know more of the songs already. This one seems a little more fantastical, would we call this Art Pop? It's definite psychedelic... a lot of these songs are very jaunty! I think the second half is a little less compelling, within you without you is very long and a little rambling for me. I think I enjoy more of the songs on Abbey Road, this one is a few too many funny character songs

What can one say, it's Sgt Peppers. It's one of the most iconic albums ever, from the cover art to the massive hits. It was the album that brought psychedelia to the masses and a 180 degree change from the Beatles previous Power Pop. It spawned fashion and aesthetics movements, or at least popularized them, and was the basis for the look and feel of the movie The Yellow Submarine.

Yeah, pretty much no notes here. I said Abbey Road was the band’s best, and I still feel that way, but this is their most innovative and significant album. Hell, it’s THE most innovative and significant record.

I'm nearly 70 years old and so i could'nt avoid them. Unusual for a German: I hated VW Beetles and didn't like theese Beatles at all. Stupid song.
Quite an okay album,certainly found no songs that stood out for me but the thing as a whole was quite listenable;also was the first anything(asides Yesterday)that I've heard from The Beetles

Of course this is a classic.
A classic album which I have somehow avoided listening to in it's entirety. It has some stand out tracks on it and one of the best album covers of all time, but the psychadelia and circus influences are not for me.
What more can be said about this album that hasn’t already been said?
My one regret for the human race is that the Beatles were stubborn and refused to put singles on albums. Imagine if Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane were on here. Even better, imagine if they replaced the only weak tracks, She's Leaving Home and When I'm Sixty Four (I'm with John - I dont care much for Paul's music hall obsession). Almost the perfect album. If I heard this for the first time now without any knowledge of what it is, I'd give it 3.5*. However, when you consider when this came out, and how groundbreaking it is, that surely bumps up to 4.5*. Rounding up due to finishing with Day In The Life.

When I was a teenager, I had a brief obsession with "With a Little Help From My Friends." I loved the Beatles and Joe Cocker versions of this song, but the only version that was accessible for me to listen to repeatedly was the Beatles version. My parents had Sgt. Pepper's on vinyl, and they wouldn't let me try to set the needle on the record player down on a certain song, so I'd listen to the title track, and then go right into "With a Little Help From My Friends." That was as far as I'd make it, so this was my first time listening to this whole album. This is my fourth Beatles album to get, and I didn't have incredibly high hopes. My most recent album of theirs was The White Album, which I liked, but I thought was very overrated; I view this album to be in the same vain in that it's experimental, so I thought I might be in for another letdown. Thankfully, that didn't wind up being the case. It took me a few listens today, but I like this album, and I think it's incredibly well made. The thing I like about the Beatles' earlier work is that it's very well made. Nothing is too crazy and over the top, but the singing, guitar playing, and drum playing are all executed to perfection. Those elements still exist here, with the added layer of some great psychedelic instrumentation via organ and sitar playing. To top it off, the production work is some of the best work that George Martin did with the Beatles, if not in all of rock history. The sounds are varied, but this album still feels coherent, something that The White Album lacks. One of my favorite things about this album are a few little details in some of the sounds: -The echo or distorted effect that you can hear in the guitar during the chorus of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" (that's the best way I can describe it) -The pianet melody on "Getting Better" (at least that's what I assume it is) -The plucking of the viola on "She's Leaving Home" (or maybe that's the harp? Look, I'm clearly no expert, but I just hope that the average person can read this review and know what I'm talking about) This is a fantastic album, and it's one I'll revisit often.
Honestly, people say the Beatles are overrated and they kind of are BUT they are also very sick.. the opening on this track (also the track the album is named after) 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' but like John Lennon is screaming on that track its fucking sick. Its weird because this album is really sick if you're into psychedelics and are doing them, but like.. if you're not, I can see how this can be seen as "overrated". My favorite song is 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' and 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' Overall: 2.8/5

A fun romp through a famous album. Brought back lots of memories of listening to that album on my portable record player in my basement growing up…trying to scratch like a rap DJ. You can’t get more classic Beatles than this one.
4.5 stars. Summer of Love! It's catchy, it's zany, it's art, it's mainstream pop. A lot going on here, in a good way...LSD working well to the band's benefit. Lyrically touches on a variety of cultural changes during a pivotal era. The standout is "With A Little Help From My Friends" which will always be a classic.
Literally an iconic album cover, all those famous faces! I've never looked closely, I love the baby Beatles on the left. I've never listened to Sgt Pepper's straight through, but I know most of the songs, and "A Day In The Life" is one of my favorite Beatles songs. The Wikipedia page is, as usual, a great read. I did not know that "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane" were the first two songs recorded for this album, but the studio made them release those as a single and exclude them from the album. I would've liked to have heard SFF on here, one of my greatest music on drugs memories is of that song (through a bass amp in a college dorm room, ah). Definitely listen to this one through nice headphones - it makes the studio wizardry much more apparent, the deep and thorough layering of sounds, and really highlights the very melodic bass parts that Paul concocted for himself. Look, it's the Beatles alter ego band just jamming and doing drugs and changing the course of pop music. You can't underestimate the impact of every thing about this album, it's wild. I had the privilege of meeting and watching one of the top Beatles cover bands in Japan about a decade ago. They had costumes for every Beatles era and traveled around the country (and world) performing. I spoke with "Paul" a few times - his favorite costume and album were Sgt. Pepper - it's a 5.

I generally can't listen to more than a few Beatles songs in succession. This was no exception. I can appreciate the song writing and there undoubtedly a few fantastic songs on this, but I just can't deal with the vocals. They aren't exactly grating, but they are pretty fucking close and it ruins what could otherwise be a great album.
Some absolute stars here. Great closer. LSD is just the right level of twee. I sung With a Little Help From My Friends for my year 6 leavers. It's also an album that has patchy recreations of styles that don't really work for them. Some songs are just a groan. But I still reckon these guys are gonna be big! Three and a half. Innovative in storytelling and production, great flow between tracks, and some iconic tracks. I don't think this is actually close to their best overall record, and a few of the songs fall somewhere in the middle of their overall catalogue for me (She's Leaving Home and Lucy In The Sky I do find a bit overrated). On the other hand, songs like With A Little Help From My Friends and A Day In The Life continue to grow on me, despite their historic praise. The latter of those two in particular seems to me to be a song that transcends not only this album, but the band itself. It kind of sits alone on another shelf, untouchable, like 'Hallelujah' or 'Auld Lang Syne' or something. It's just separate to other songs. An achievement and probably (maybe) their best ever track. Surely one of the most influential albums of all time? I don't think that there's a single track on this album that isn't good.
Yeah, I’m gonna be biased here. I love the Beatles. They’re one of my all time favourite bands. And while I don’t think that this album is their best ever, it has a special place in my heart. It was the first album I ever bought on a vinyl record, and that started me on my vinyl collecting journey. And due to that, it’s one of my most heard Beatles albums. I can’t give it any less than 5 stars. Not every song is a masterpiece. Lovely Rita, Good Morning Good Morning, Fixing a Hole, they’re far from the best Beatles songs. But as a whole, the album just works so well. And the great songs are amazing. Everyone knows that A Day in the Life is a masterpiece. I really don’t know what to say about this album. It’s not perfect but I just love it so much. I can’t reasonably give it a 10/10, but I can’t bear to put it much lower. Can’t even narrow down to a top 5. I don't think there's an album out there that had a bigger impact on me than "Sgt. Pepper." Someone let me borrow it when I was about 13, and it blew my damn mind. I knew about and enjoyed the Beatles before this, of course, but was mostly familiar with their earlier, poppier stuff. I had no idea what a concept album was, and had no idea what was going on with this album. Did they record it in front of a live audience? Was there video of this benefit for Mr. Kite? And who the shit was Billy Shears? I didn't have any answers to those questions at the time, but one thing was immediately clear: I was listening to genius at work. My opinion hasn't changed in the intervening years. This album is always in the conversation when people discuss the greatest album ever, and rightfully so. It's a masterpiece, all the way down to the cover. Throw in the cultural context of the time and its impact on contemporary and future musicians, and it's hard for me to justify putting this album anywhere except at the peak of the mountain.

Despite not really following as much of a concept as everyone believes (it trails off after 'With a Little Help from my Friends', this is the greatest album ever.
A high water mark in human expression. Cool to think of the whole album as a show within a show that is a psychodelic circus vaudville band and also an indian raga band. The record even has this natural space that sounds like a hall. When I'm 64 is a personal favorite Beatles song.

I mean, it's just an amazing album. I know that music historians will focus on the concept of the album, or the odd mix of genres, or maybe the sound engineering. But I'm glad that the Beatles did so while _also_ writing another collection of great songs.
I don't know if this the "best" Beatles album, but its the one I have the most nostalgia for. My parents had this on vinyl, and Trav and I would put it on frequently because of the iconic, colorful cover and the connection to the animate Yellow Submarine movie.
Still feels groundbreaking. Even the songs where I want to tell Paul to give it a break ('When I'm 64') are annoyingly catchy. And 'A Day in the Life' is still so good.

Well this is the first Beatles album I ever liked, the only song I'm not big on is within you without you. Though it's always wild to relisten to Beatles and hear lyrics about abusing your partner (getting better). Also It's okay (to leave a dog in a hot car) is a weird one. 4.5?
What more needs to be said? It’s great, obviously. Great songwriting, great production. The contrasting voices and songwriting of jim lemon and pete mccarthy never sounded more distinct than on a day in the life. Lucy in the sky is in the running for all time best song about drugs. And Mr kite is a big standout for me as well, i love a good circus themed song.
I'm pretentious, but not pretentious enough to rate this less than it deserves. Hearing this album was a pretty huge moment in my life at 13, the first "iconic" and "best of all time" album I had ever heard. Strongest 4.5 stars around, still love it.

Excellent album
I did some extensive research on my own personal little dissection into "Beatlemania" because I truly wanted to understand all of it. And there were multiple titles thrown out there but the name I saw the most was this one... "Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band". A title like that alone is enough to capture you and make you wonder many things at once.... So I listened to it twice. Once to say that I listened. And the second time to truly grasp it. Did it work? No. Did my mind begin to unlayer the historical importance of having an album like this exist within the landscape multiple decades go? Yes. I wouldn't say I get the album as a whole, it feels more like a collection than a theme and honestly it really may just be a "you had to be there" kind of thing, but I appreciate its artistry. These 4 men were at the climax of music creation and came together to ignite a sort of musical fusion. Looking back i onto it now in the lens of the 21st century I see this as more than an album but an art piece. Meant to be seen as capsulation of time for those who were around to witness. It's a kind of turning point for them and for the people who listened. For those to marvel upon it, for the simple fact of being in existence........... It also helps that the music is pretty fucking good too. For the people who are skeptical and don't understand the hype of The Beatles try this album out and hear what they sounded like at their best. 5 out of 5 stars. No question.

The masterpiece…incredible album with so much influence and impact…the entire album is pure gold to me and so glad it’s on this list…
This is probably my favorite Beatles album of all, just for the sheer scale of innovation, and its place in both music history and pop culture. There's just so much to take away from it. The album came not long after the Beatles' met with Bob Dylan, and I think we all can imagine the types of substances that were consumed while they were hanging together. It was there the Beatles began to leave behind that Ed Sullivan bowl-cut boy-band image and reach for something...a little messier. In a simple phrase I once heard a teacher say, they went from being guys you could introduce to your folks, to guys you really, really couldn't. In the raw innovative energy of this album, I think you can really glean that massive shift in the band's identity. Musically, however, I have never been insanely into the Beatles' work. I respect them as visionaries, especially with this album, but my ears wouldn't give this a 5/5. At best, George Harrison (the most talented of the group in my opinion) really gets to shine with his multi-instrumental talents in this, and it's always a treat to spot all the different things he plays while listening. If you ever take a look at the credits on the back of this album, you'll see just how insane the instrument ensemble is.
The godfather of progressive rock, the album that turned music into art. Sgt. Pepper’s is a masterpiece of production. Its songs are eclectic and beautiful. It’s the first of its kind. It’s greater than the sum of its parts, aside from the closer A Day In The Life, which can make a strong case for being the greatest song ever written. 9.2/10

Great mix of songs, some Arabian-sounding stuff in the middle
When I first heard this as a teenager I was a touch underwhelmed ('this is the so-called greatest album ever? It's not as good as Abbey Road, for starters'). Even when it came up today I hadn't decided if it was worth 4 or 5 stars. But listening again, it's an easy choice. So many iconic yet very different tracks (stylistic u-turns everywhere you look) drenched in gorgeous technicolour production. A Day In The Life just seals the deal.
Disco que influenció muchisimo a la musica en general. muchisimas tecnicas de grabacion, de produccion, de composicion, instrumentos raros y cosas que nunca se habian escuchado, Y SALIÓ 1967. Es hasta injusto juzgarlo con la misma vara que a otros albums, es un salto al vacio constante, con sus aciertos y sus puntos flojos (within you without you). Obra magistral.
4.5 Gran disco de los Beatles, se nota la necesidad de la banda de hacer cosas nuevas y no estancarse en lo mismo que venian haciendo y fueron exitosos con esto. No le puedo dar un 5 fijo porque hay un par de temas que, en mi opinion, les falta 5 para el peso

J’aime bien les Beatles en général, donc j’ai aimé quelques unes de ces musiques, elles sont assez calmes je trouve. J’en préfère clairement d’autres d’eux. Surtout la dernière il me semble que l’album m’a littéralement angoissée ! Il y a des passages d’interlude un peu qui utilisent des sons de films d’horreur x)

Album que j'avais déjà pas mal écouté et que j'écouterai probablement encore pas mal de fois. Production musicale incroyable. J'avais totalement oublié l'existence de Being for the benefit of Mr. Kite qui est sympa. Petit milieu d'album un peu "mou". A day in the life : probablement une des plus belles chansons des Beatles

Didn't like the song within you without you
Opening and penultimate track are often on repeat when I listen to this album. Such a great album. Needs to be listened from start to end to be appreciated fully by new listeners. Standout tracks for me: - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - With a Little Help from My Friends - She's Leaving Home - Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! - When I'm Sixty-Four - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) And of course, A Day in the Life. It's such a shame that Penny Lane and especially Strawberry Fields Forever (which I consider their best song) did not end up on it - it would cement its place as the best rock album in history IMO.
