I understand its significance, but it just doesn’t really hit me as a perfect album. It’s difficult to connect with at times because of the combination of jaunty music with fairly unserious lyrics. It sounds like the soundtrack to a television show that no one watches reruns of anymore. The Beatles always sound to me like they recorded inside a fucking tin can.
After the first listen I would have given this album a 3/5, it was quite underwhelming after a good start, tracks 4 till "A Day in The Life" did not make much of an impression on me. But "A Day in The Life" seemed to be what the entire album was building towards and that particular song caught me immediately. After the second listen I could tell this album was special, and the songs I was initially indifferent to became enjoyable. This album may eventually become a solid 5 but that would require a few more listens.
I’ve never listened to this full album. The Beatles confuse me but I love their music.
Obscure album from some underground band. Never heard it before. But it is not bad. I'd say, try it, if you can get your hands on it.

Not my favourite Beatles. Bit gimmicky with the circus stuff (half the album) and sitar (Within You Without You), but with a couple of all time great tracks in there (She's Leaving Home, A Day in the life).
This is such a pleasant album! I didn't listen to the Beatles growing up so I feel like I don't have as much familiarity/nostalgia associated with it. It is still a terrific album with tons of variety and crystal clear production. I like the variety of instruments and singers that are used throughout. The album feels simple and complex all at once. It is easy to throw on as background music, but there is also a lot of nuanced instruments and vocals that are layered throughout. Good stuff, Beatles!
Really enjoyed it, good mix of experimental and more original Beatles style songs.

I've never listened to this album all the way through before, but am familiar with a lot of the songs from my dad playing Beatles in the car when I was a child. I loved listening to it, and had a lightbulb moment when listening to Within You Without You - that the Flight of the Concords song is spoofing it on their track Prince of Parties. I'd never been able to pin down what song FOTC were attempting to spin before, but now I know :)
Sgt. Pepper raises the conundrum of do you evaluate the album purely on the listening experience or does one need to factor in the context of the album's release and the impact it has? One could argue that no album had a bigger impact on popular music than Sgt Pepper but for me it's songs aren't as strong as the other "iconic" Beatles albums. In retrospect it's kinda of silly that the first concept album is basically just about a band that is singing songs.
Probably my favorite Beatles album so far (I’ve listened to Meet the Beatles, the White Album, and Abbey Road). It feels like the most cohesive album experience with a generally consistent sonic through line. With A Little Help From My Friends was my favorite track from this record.

All through the 90s the received wisdom was that this was the greatest Beatles album. It outshone all the rest apparently. So imagine my confused face when I finally graduated from the red and blue albums to actually stick this on. I think I'd already heard Revolver, Rubber Soul, Hard Days Night and Help before this, it did not escape my notice that my mum and dad both had stopped buying Beatles records with Revolver. So maybe they got turned off by the drugs stuff, I should ask. Anyway I found a CD of this in my brother's stuff one day and stuck it on. And I was.... slightly disappointed? It's obviously excellent, but we are saying this is the Greatest... Beatles album, that is high praise. Nowadays things are a bit more measured, most people probably say Revolver, hipsters and me might say Rubber Soul are more consistently outstanding. Here we do have outstanding stuff of course, some of their greatest ever songs, A Day in the Life obviously, LSD. And a good start with the title track. Wet Wet Wet ruined little help from my friends for me. I think She's Leaving Home and Within Without You stand out for me of the other tracks. But besides that there's just far too much music hall ditties, 64, Getting Better, or daft stuff like Mr Kite and Lovely Rita. After LSD there's not really a Classic Beatles track that knocks you off your feet until a Day in the Life really does (one of the greatest songs ever made, by anyone - such an incredible thing, 5 great tunes in one and somehow still fully formed in and of itself). Perhaps if they'd fought and kept Strawberry Fields on it in favour of one of the ditties, it may be in the conversation. I just never choose to go back to this one. This possibly has the best cover art, but then Revolver has a shout there too. Gets points for being the starting gun for concept albums and the cultural touchstone but I have to give myself somewhere to go and I like a lot of albums a lot more than this one.

Hot take but I think this is far from the Beatles best work
All-time classic and a ground breaking album on the day of the release and yet I thought I would enjoy it more this time. I remember listening to it when I was in high-school and thinking it's one of the best things ever. And now I'm not sure if this was my actual opinion or rather something I was supposed to be thinking? I'm forever grateful to this website for 1) exposing me to an incredible variety of music and 2) forcing me to try and formulate my personal thoughts on each album every day. This process made me much more aware of my own preferences and now I'm able to express them and explain when I'm enjoying something and when I'm not. Here, in regards to this particular giant of an album (in terms of its stature), I can at the same time appreciate its influence and say that I'm not really enjoying the content that much. And when you remove all the reputation that comes with it, you're left with an album that goes in so many different directions it does not reach any of them fully. Thus, it leaves you with a feeling that there's just too much filler, which seems like a crazy statement for an album of 39 minutes. Still, in the end comes A Day in the Life, which really does manage to explain where the album's reputation came from, even in 2023. Final verdict: 5 for the reputation and significance in music history, 3 for my personal enjoyment = 4/5.

I want to act like I’m too cool for The Beatles…but when I listened to this on my drive home last night, it hit the spot. I love how out there the arrangements are, the vocals are in a class of their own, and the flow from track-to-track is just supreme. I could do without the lull in the middle where we have to push through Mr. Kite and Within You Without You (I’m not crazy about either track) but the rest of it is incredible. Great stuff.
Can’t go wrong with Sgt. Pepper now can you?

The Beatles! Classic songwriting, silly melodies & tones, and influence from all sorts of world music. Not my favorite Beatles record, but it’s darn good. Decent 4 on this one for me.
I agree that objectively, everyone should listen to it at least once. I think it's great. I went through a phase in my early twenties where all I played was this, but times change. Still nice to hear once in a while.
I’ll give this a 4 so Marty doesn’t get mad at me, but this didn’t do much for me. First 3 tracks are great. Rest of the album isn’t bad at all but I don’t see the big deal. I’ll give it credit for being interesting.
4/5. Man I really wanted this to be a 5 but I can't give it with my history which is I played this every day in high school. I know this album front to back and the run from 64 to morning was always kind of mid. It's super important and should be listened to but it can never be anyone's favorite, that would only mean they haven't listened to anything else.

Mom had this vinyl! Let's give it a go. I'm pretty sure I've listened to it before but not sure if I listened to from beginning to end. There's a big mural downtown that mimics the cover art of this album. I like the sitar and drum on Within You Without You. I really like A Day In The Life! pretty.
Yep, agreed. One of the better Beatles albums and although it has its lesser tracks it’s still a great experience from start to finish.

I don't know if this is a controversial take but I think Sgt. Peppers is probably The Beatles most overrated album. I was just not a huge fan of some of the experimentation on this album and I don't think it made it as listenable as "Rubber Soul", "Revolver" or "Abbey Road". I will say though I do think that up to this point in their catalogue this album has some of the best writing of any of their albums and I think that helped a lot. It is still The Beatles so it is still really good but not the obvious 10/10 that many people see it as. I was not a huge fan of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" or "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!" and I really dislike "Within You Without You". In all honesty this feels like the modern art of Beatles albums to me. It feels kind of artsy just to be artsy with an clear reason to do what they do but I may just miss the point. Still with all my disagreement with the praise this album gets it is still like a 9/10.

Har aldrig köpt hyllningarna albumet får på grund av att det är ett konceptalbum. Idén om att det är ett annat band än Beatles som spelar låtarna håller inte riktigt när det bara märks i första och näst sista låten. Däremellan är det gamla goda Beatles. Bästa låt: A Day in the Life.
One of the best albums from The Beatles but won't rate it higher due to musical preference, though I'm sure others would. High 4 star
I had gone into it having heard the first half ovrr the years up to "She's Leaving Home" which I really enjoy. But the second half with the inspiration from their various LSD experimentation, Hindi culture and the sitar exploration etc kind of loses me. I don't hate it but I also don't enjoy nearly as much. Still a great album though.

After being seriously disappointed by ‘Revolver’, I was relieved by the beginning of this album, which showed itself immediately to be significantly better. The first few songs of this album were really great, though I felt the rest was not as good. It redeemed itself with the final few tracks. Solid 3.5
A lot of timeless classics on here. Feel like the album as a whole is great but has a few pothole songs that I’d normally skip

It's my list and I say this record isn't perfect. It's close. It inspired pretty much every record that ever came after it. But some of these songs don't land. Just ignore my scrub 4. Favorite tracks: "With a Little Help From My Friends", "When I'm 64", "A Day in the Life"
It's not the best Beatles album (that would be revolver or Let It Be) but it's the one that everyone knows. -1 for the interminable sitar track.

Никогда не был битломаном. От слова совсем. Да, какие-то песни я знаю, что-то там про жёлтую подводную лодку, вчерашний день и ночь трудного дня. По крайней мере, так переводчики на пластинках Мелодии перевели. Группу Битлз я в голове представлял себе не так, а ровно так, как они выступали до этого альбома. Здесь же ливерпульская четвёрка пустилась в эксперименты с формой и мелодиями и получилось что-то... назовём мягко, необычное. Не то чтобы мне не понравилось, но и особого кайфа не испытал. Хотя пока готовил материал по этому альбому, я как-то проникся им... и концептуальным подходом (в 67ом-то году), и техническими новшествами, и использованием индийских инструментов... короче, добрый альбом, хороший. До крепкости чуть-чуть не хватило.

Objectively a perfect record. A day in the life is such a great song. One of the most important and influential records of all time but giving it a 4 cause I don’t really like some of the weird goofy stuff like Mr kite.
I came close to refusing to listen. How many times do you need to hear Pepper to accept that it's half decent? But I gave in, hoping to hear something new. I can always come back to the White Album, Abbey Road, even Let It Be. But I'm not sure that Pepper has the long lasting quality. It's more of a project than a tight rock 'n' roll album. She's Leaving Home still gets me.
Looooove the Beatles <333 I do like some of their other albums more than this one tho I liked the theme of a show/circus running pretty consistently through the whole album

160 albums into this journey. I was seriously concerned that I hadn't heard a Beatles album yet. Sgt Pepper would not have been my choice, but yes, it is an album that should be heard at least once. A Day In the Life is one of the finest Beatles songs recorded, but it doesn't make up for the whole of the album being less engaging. Most of the songs are very good, but this is not the album of course to listen to on any given day.
I highly doubt I have anything to say about this album that hasn’t been said before. An absolute classic.

Album plus conceptuel que ce à quoi je m'attendais. Album plus rock et plus près de mes goûts que ce à quoi je m'attendais. Les chansons pourraient avoir encore plus d'ampleur. Présence de plusieurs instruments inattendus. L'album aurait pu davantage plonger dans le psychédélique.
The sound effects on Lovely Rita are underrated. Every line is met with delightful sound effects and surprises at every turn. Classic.

Despite being one of the most recognisable album covers from The Beatles, it’s likely the one I’m least familiar with. Looking at the track listing, I had no idea that With A Little Help From My Friends was a Beatles song! I thought it was Joe Cocker originally. Songs I already knew: With A Little Help From My Friends Favourites: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite I really enjoyed this album. It was a little odd at times, but never overbearingly so. Any psychedelica here still comes from a grounding of catchy pop music, so remains easy to listen to and enjoy. I’d heard of the song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds before and knew it was one of the big ones, but found that I didn’t actually recognise it when it was on. Overall, this was a fun record with a bit more bombast that other Beatles albums I’ve heard. I definitely recommend this.

The Beatles beat all their instruments and sing about drugs.This is my first time hearing a Beatles album in full. It sounds ahead of its time. Very good production and a great mix of all kinds of songs, but they all feel like they belong and make a complete project. Its cool to hear experimental music and sounds this early on. Listening to it now, I believe that this would change the industry.
Kinda as always with the Beatles, and especially this era of them, the production history of this is a lot more interesting to me than the music itself. It's good, but I find it musically less interesting than Revolver, and historically less interesting than White Album
I did enjoy the show. Fixing a Hole to Within You Without You is a bit of a bore but it picks up again with When I’m Sixty-Four.
So far the Beatles make up only 2% of the albums I have reviewed on this site, so much lower number than anticipated. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is one of the few albums that I have already heard start to finish on my own (which is something, I guess?). There is no denying - this record probably revolutionised popular music and started countless experimentation, that resulted in new music genres of all kind. Sound as of late 60s is definitely unique. As it stands right now, I think the reception of the album is still good, but not as amazing as you would think. It starts with a great trio of songs, Self-titled, "With a Little Help of my Friends" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". All three are now in popculture, many covers were made (some even better than original), and they still sound fresh and quite epic. After those songs, I couldn't find anything that would be as interesting, it all felt like a filler to this great opening. Small exception maybe to "A Day in the Life", which nicely mixes McCartney and Lennon style. Other than that, slightly disappointing for the "Greatest Band in History".

Can't write anything about this album that's not already written. i just don't care about the beatles and this has not changed anything. i've always found they make me a little bit nauseous. that said...credit where credits due

Interesting album, didn't bore me. Many songs came through for me. They touched chords in my soul that the previous two proposed works did not. I undoubtedly reconfirm what many critics before me have said, an album that has had its day. I would add that despite the years it is still able to tell us something, I refer to the more strictly musical aspect.
Controversially, this is not even close to my favorite Beatles album, but it's still got some awesome songs.
As a Gen Z kid, this album does nothing for me. It’s got some good tracks (the self titled track), some great ones (Lovely Rita and A Day In The Life), and some totally dreadful ones (Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, I will never think to myself that I want to hear this song ever again.) I will say that The Beatles themselves are an overrated band, though they are incredibly important. Sweet Bob Dylan cameo in the cover, 4/5.
First Beatles album I’ve heard start to finish and thought this was good. First few tracks are great, Lucy in the Sky is far and away my favourite on here. After the song start I thought it fell into a lull of lames tracks, that wasn’t snapped until Mr.Kite but then When I’m 64 comes on and that was kinda lame too. From there on out they finish strong. It’s good, I liked it best when they were leaning heavy on the psychedelic sounds. Strong album 4 stars
There isn’t much to say about this album which hasn’t already been said ad nauseam. It’s a frequent entry in “Greatest Albums of All Time” lists, and more often than not it takes the prize. For me, the Beatles were suffering diminishing returns from Revolver onwards, and this record is no exception. Experimentation is used to mask the more dispensable tracks on this album, but that’s not to say it doesn’t at least partially live up to the hype. The soaring conclusion is deserving of masterpiece status on its own, so you can overlook missteps like “When I’m 64”. The Beatles were never a rabble-rousing group of revolutionaries, at least in their lyrical sentiments, but the musical leap forward on this album is indeed a great one. It’s not quite deserving of 5 star status for me (there is just too muy throwaway fodder here for my liking) but its highs are indeed among the most significant in pop music history.

A Day In the Life is one of the best songs written, so this album should be 5 star. A couple of other nice songs too, but there is way too much filler and the album as a whole is quite a bit behind Revolver (10/10).
The 500th album to rate and it's got a massive status. I can't help comparing it to Revolver, which we had just a week ago. Both records share an incredible richness but to me Sgt. Pepper is weaker in terms of song material, coherence and flow. I'll leave it at 4.

I know this is sacrilege but I've never listened to a full Beatles album. This one is pretty good, though I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. Too much hype. I've always loved A Day in the Life though, didn't know it was the closer of this album!
What can we say about Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band that hasn't been said before? Well, the cut-out of Marilyn Monroe was actually in colour, but before the layout was assembled the lads had a competition, where they would take turns to ejaculate onto the cut-out, maximum of three minutes from flop to pop, the winner being the one who lasted the most laps. By the time of the photoshoot, the Monroe cut-out was coated in so much Fab Four baby gravy that it appeared black and white. For the record, Ringo won the contest.* Unusual historical titbits aside, Sgt. Pepper is probably the most famous album of them all, and the most memetic. I've sat down with mates trying to name the various people on the cover, and I'm not an especial Beatles fan. The cover is also the accidental originator of many a supposed Paul-is-Dead hint (Paul has his back to the camera on the back cover, he's wearing a badge saying O.P.P., if you take the top half of the LONELY HEARTS writing on the bass drum, then reflect it, it spells I ONE X HE DIE (some people have simply lost touch with reality)). Regardless of its revolutionary reputation, Sgt. Pepper was a transitional work for the Beatles. Having recently decided to quit touring, the four lads took a three month break to follow their individual interests. George predictably went to India, Ringo just as predictably spent time with his family, John acted in the film How I Won the War, and Paul dropped acid for the first time (George and John having tried it previously). These solo pursuits fed ideas into what became Sgt. Pepper. George's love of Indian culture inspired Within You Without You (well, duh). John, being a bit of a tosser, had become more introverted and artsier, wishing to continue his psychedelic experimentation. Paul also wanted to try out those crazy new thoughts, man, and conceived of a fake band called Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which would allow the band to probe exciting, far-out genres, from avant-garde classical to music-hall. The result is a Beatles album. It has all the same strengths of a standard Beatles album and all the same weaknesses. And the honest soul will admit it rates at the standard honest Beatles rating: 4/5. There are genuinely great songs on here: that is true of pretty much every Beatles album. There's also some filler that mars the album: that is also true of pretty much every Beatles album. I know that sounds rather hedging, rather wishy-washy, but how radical do you expect an assessment of the Beatles to be? How radical? Isn't this supposed to be the album that blew the doors off the world? As a 30something man in the arse end of 2022, it may well be impossible for me to hear Sgt. Pepper as innovative. Sure, I can intellectually dig how new all this tape looping and reverb was at the time, but I have lived my whole life in a world where such techniques were commonplace and, in some instances, obsolete. However, other contemporary trailblazers have retained some inventive freshness, such as The Doors' The End or Trout Mask Replica, and in fairness to the Moptops, A Day in the Life has remained sparksome. But perhaps the Beatles were just too big for their brainwaves to stay their brainwaves, and their ideas would inevitably diffuse to become everyone's ideas. That may bring the advantage that I'm not being distracted by all the novelty and can thus assess the songs independently from the whoosh of the new. And it's a few great songs, a bit of filler. The great ones are the obvious ones (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, A Day in the Life), the filler tends to be mildly dull rather than unpleasant (She's Leaving Home, Good Morning Good Morning). One can see how certain beret-wearers might find the whole music-hall, band-playing-a-band playfulness to be just irritating, but one also tends to feel that to be the attitude of a churl. However, it doesn't warrant five stars, much less the status as possibly the greatest album of them all. Just be content that it's rather good, and avoid every album attempting to be their band's take on Sgt. Pepper (Their Satanic Majesty's Request et. al.). Seriously, they're all crap without exception. *That might possibly not be true, but nobody's said it before, have they? NoRadio, signing off.
Should I ever return to Amsterdam and do shrooms with the same mfs in the same shitty hostel at the same cluttered desk of crushed Heineken cans, a half drunken espresso, and a disassembled “spliff” (there was zero green, only tobacco), “Within You Without You” will most certainly be blaring on full blast from a busted laptop. Otherwise, this would be a 3 for me, but it is Sgt. Pepper’s and “A Day in the Life” is truly a masterpiece.
Let me tell you a story. My grandma, born in 1950, grew up with the Beatles in her life. In 1964, the Beatles began their North American tour: 32 venues in 31 days. Every girl aged 10-18 in the country was begging to get tickets, willing to sell a kidney just to get a sniff of the Beatles. Finally, the day came where tickets went on sale, and my dear grandmother’s cousin got tickets! What joy! As luck would have it, my grandmother’s cousin and her friend were quite young, still a preteen, and they needed a responsible older girl to go with them. A 14 year old they trusted. Wait…that’s my grandmother!!! Any normal teenage girl would have been beaming, thrilled to have the once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Beatles live at the Boston Garden. My grandmother, however, was not a normal teenage girl. She HATED the Beatles with a passion. She thought their music was boring and that girls were too into them. She has in fact stated many times that she only listens to “real rock”. In fact, to quote her on her concert experience, my grandmother despised going, saying “You couldn’t actually hear anything they were singing because the crowd of girls was just shrieking the whole time”. She puts it up there as one of the worst concerts she has ever been to, and to this day refuses to listen to the Beatles. For that reason, along with other inconsistencies I found within the album, I cannot give this a 5 as many others have. This one’s for you Grammy!
The apple of music. Let's hear it... Sometimes it's hard being a contrarian (I'm a Samsung guy). This album deserves all the praise it's getting. It's funny, I remember in high school people thought it was cool to dislike the Beatles, what a rubbish lot. She's leaving home surprised me, i like it, same with being for the benefit of Mr kite. I enjoyed within without you. I'm gonna say a 4.75, it's nearly a 5, but I've decided that to be a 5 I have to know nearly every song and this isn't that for me.
An obvious classic. From start to finish this is an album that has earned its status as an all-timer. Great production quality and even better songwriting strays sometimes a bit too much into the psychedelic for my tastes.
What is there to say about this that hasn't been said yet in 1000's of articles, hundreds of documentaries and dozens of books on just this album? Mainly my opinion that it's not the Beatles' best work. That would be Revolver.
While I liked it better than some other Beatles Albums since it's shorter and easier listening since it's not as "artsy", it is lacking a few more memorable songs to be 5 stars

Some unsettling experiences for me in the album, but obv so much to love and contemplate
Never heard of these before. Bright future ahead of them. It sounds at times like they’d had a little bit of drugs, but that’s ok. Fixing a Hole was my favourite track of first run through. When I’m Sixty Four had elements of the theme tune from One Foot In The Grave, and sounded a bit novelty compared to the rest of the album. Will definitely return to this, from these bright young upstarts

It was great to see an iconic Beatles album for the weekend and it was a nostalgic listen. I loved it when I was a teenager but since then, and with their influence, music has proliferated and I’ve matured so much as I thought I’d score it 5* it has to be 4*
I'm going to just go out and say I always thought this album was far too overrated. I mean, obviously there are some excellent songs on here that defy expectations of what a "pop" song can do, but then you have songs like "Fixing A Hole" that just come off as awkwardly paced and boring. I just always felt this was the worst of latter half of The Beatles musical career, and that includes Yellow Submarine and Let It Be, and that Magical Mystery Tour was just a better version of this album. Now, it sounds like I hate this alblum, but of course, a less than average Beatles record is still better than most albums in all of the history of music, and this album is no exception. A Day In the Life is fantastic, She's Leaving Home really shows that Paul just excels in more than just "silly love songs" and the beginning of the album until Fixing A Hole is hit after hit, really showing how important this album is. I view this album as an important stepping stone as to what we would see in the future, but doesn't quite hit that mark for me to be a perfect album.
Remastered in a very interesting way. Vocals in the beginning of songs are in only one ear, which was a first for me.
It took me awhile to get into the Beatles. I can appreciate what they did for music. Amazing talent.

Sgt Pepper gets 4/5 from me because while it's great when it's great, there's stuff in there that passed me by entirely, and none of it truly grabs me like a 5/5 should.
What a start to the album! The title track has tonnes of energy, then leads off really nicely into With a Little Help From My Friends and LSD which is great, but from there it loses its way a bit. It's all quite disjointed - the songs all sound very different and don't fit together particularly well as an album. The next three are a bit fluffy, then we go back into the psychedelic stuff with Mr Kite and a strange sitar interlude, before two more very nice but very twee ballads. Then we go back to the energetic and psychedelic stuff from the beginning. 4/5 for me, there's so many good songs on here, but it doesn't quite fit together well enough and there's some filler.
This was my second beatles album and this one actually blew my mind!! Definitely a 8/10 for sure

Production and variation are great for their time. Musicality doesn't get stale moving from one song to another. A variety of genres and topics. After a few listens, it sounds like commentary on people, relationships and interpersonal searches in front of an audience. The song feels like it's being performed in front of an audience and then gets meta with a day in the life. This is just a very general knee jerk thought. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't an over arching theme.

This one's a tad over-rated. To me more and more filler starts to appear on this album. I guess they might call songs like Lovely Rita and When I'm 64 whimsical, I call them filler. There are some very good songs, but not enough to hold my interest through the whole album. Give me Revolver or Rubber Soul anytime. 4 🌟

very amazing guitar on the opening title track. already loving it. only gets better, WOW. it ends very strong too. this has changed my outlook a lot. the beatles aren’t a band i listen to a lot, but this may change that.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band might be my personal prime example of an album that I wish that I could have heard in the context of when the album was released. I know that many people have discussed the impact of this album, and it does have some great recordings, but I know that some of what the Beatles accomplished is lost to me because of what other musicians adopted after the release of this album. I think the track "A Day in the Life" (my favorite) is the closest that I can get to that feeling of ¿What did they do and how did they do it so well? I know I've listened to this album before, but about half of the tracks aren't familiar to me. "Getting Better" is my second favorite track. As time goes on I enjoy hearing from Ringo more than I used to. It was good to check back in on this album.

This album starts off so stron and finishes brilliantly but there's some parts in the middle that don't hold their weight. After the first 3 tracks it's like a best of album but then it all just fades into the background until Within You Without You. A Day In The Life is such a great tune.

Ahhhh yes, an album I’ve never listened to but with four songs I recognize. The opening song and Lovely Rita were the standouts of new-to-me tracks. A solid 4 and one that I could probably grow to like even more.
Very enjoyable, I prefer Revolver but this still feels special
A couple real stinkers on here like Mr Kite and Lovely Rita, but the brilliance of A Day in the Life outweighs the sucky parts and provides an effective climax to the album. Not their best work, possibly their most overrated work, but still worth a listen 55 years after it's release.

Surprised this is the first beatles album to come up.
A decent album that is renowned for its greatness. At times I just dont get the Beatles and really dont see what all the fuss was about. They have better albums. The time they had to priduce this and also the money behind it allowed them the luxury that many bands dont have. Taking that into account is it that great an album it is made out to be.

And the amount of instruments and soundscapes is truly impressive! The album flows nicely from song to song--you can tell it was created as one work of art, and I love that. I wish there were a 4.5 star option just for this album.
It is a great album. I have listened to it on just about every road trip I've been on for the last 15 or so years and I loved listening to it twice today. It is very easy to like. It is one of the highest rated records of all time for a reason. I'll get this out of the way. I think the Beatles greatness is overstated (I'm more of the mind of Frank Zappa who said The Shaggs were better than the Beatles lol), but this album comes closer to their perceived reputation than any of their other records. Culturally it's one of the most significant records. They elevated pop music and low brow art to the high art which I'm all for, but they certainly weren't the only ones or first ones to have done that. Parts of it are kinda lame and dated. "Benifit of Mr Kite" and "Lovely Rita" come mind. "When I'm 64" is out of place and is a Lennon song from even before they were big and that song should have stayed in the early 60s, not '67. That being said there are only 7 or 8 other albums from '67 that are as good or better. And this was such a huge step for the Beatles and pop culture that I can always appreciate. The far out tracks are the best tracks. It is an album you can comfortably sit and do nothing else but listen to like we used to do. Favorite tracks: Within Without You, Day in a Life

I guess this is iconic. I remember listening to it in music lessons at school, but the tracks are good so apparently that didn't put me off.
I'm going by how much I enjoyed the play-through rather than how important an album is to the Western canon, so I'm gonna go with 4 stars. There's a lot to admire here, no doubt, but also some weaker tracks, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Fave track - "Within You Without You" for bringing in that Indian Classical music vibe, for sure. "A Day in the Life" is also a highlight.

Yo. Former "best album of all time" Low 4 at least. Very experimental album, clearly inspired at points by Ravi Shankar for some reason. They probably all got high and put on some indian music and discovered how cool it can sound. Not really something I would put on any time actually, but it's very cool that such a revered band can make something so out of the ordinary and get praised for it. Kinda cool that it was conceived as one of the first 'concept albums'. "A Day In The Life" is probably John Lennons best song of all time.

Having never really listened to the Beatles much, I was expecting some old-time sounding music. I was not disappointed. The album is pretty good though, starts out pretty strong and seems to keep it up.

I used to have a poster of this album cover on my wall. I bought it at HMV. It went rather nicely with the pale blue/lime green I'd chosen as my decor. You can't tell me I didn't have taste as a 14-year-old.

Really great, goes without saying. Torn between a 4 and a 5 because while it is undeniably great, influential and a milestone in pop music, i hate Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds with a passion. Some other songs aren't as great as the hype would make you believe.

I was previously familiar with this album, but never really dug into it particularly, at least compared to other Beatles albums. Like, now that I look at it, I'm only slightly familiar with some of the songs. -I like the spooky and Indian-esque vibes of "Within You Without You" -Whole album was nice, but I preferred the second half. Especially "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!," "Within You Without You," "Lovely Rita," "Good Morning Good Morning" -I am well aware of this album's status as an innovative records, but I don't think it holds up as strong as other innovative records. Innovative records like "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath or "Tommy" by The Who hold up much better. The music inspired by this album has usurped it, in my opinion.

O álbum é o clássico álbum dos Beatles e possui os mesmos problemas que qualquer álbum dos Beatles tem, músicas que são assim um bocado chatas. Pelo que compreendo no álbum os Beatles fazem-se passar por uma banda e dão um concerto como estas personagens e infelizmente nenhuma música é memorável, tirando o Lucy in Sky of Diamonds, mas é memorável por quão enfadonha consegue ser. Mas é um álbum dos Beatles, não é mau. É bastante engraçado de se ouvir, mas fica aquém de outras obras que eles produziram, nomeadamente o Rubber Soul, que não acho que seja assim tão bom, mas consegue ser melhor que o Sgt. Pepper e o seu clube de corações solitários. É um álbum curto onde as músicas seguem o clássico dizer do Pessoa, primeiro estranha-se depois entranha-se. Ficando sempre um pouco distante de um álbum espetacular devido a esta estranheza inicial. Em suma, não é mau, mas com toda a expetativa esperava algo mais. I wish I could listen to a Beatles album anew, without being aware of them and their legacy. Their music has been with me since before I was me, Mum was a big fan. I can't imagine how mindblowing this album must have been when it was released in '67, it's so unlike anything else. There's still nothing quite like it. I prefer other Beatles albums, but this is still fantastic.

I feel like this one has a little bit of a darker tone than previous Beatles albums. I've heard all the songs on this before but never listened the whole way through the album, so this was interesting. Especially on "Fixing a Hole," you can kind of tell the Beatles were diverging from where they were at before. "A Day In The Life" = still my favorite Beatles song. Obviously this is one of the best albums of all time, I get a liiiiittle bored toward the middle so I'm gonna give it 4 stars.

First time listening to this album straight through even though I've heard about half the songs individually before. Like most Beatles albums, I feel like their music is better listened to in a variety playlist. It makes it kind of hard to rate the album because overall, it's a big "this is average", but there are some great songs on here and it feels very "classic". Decent highs, low lows. Also man muss credit dafür geben, dass mit sgt. pepper der blueprint des konzeptalbums in die Welt gesetzt wurde. Cool ist auch, dass es eine Pastiche von Britischer Dance Hall Musik ist. Der Sound selbst ist aber nicht unbedingt mein Geschmack. Ich kann das Album dafür appreciaten was es ist (dazu zähle ich auch das großartige, kreative packaging design), ich muss es mir aber echt nicht regelmäßig anhören. Fun Fact: Ich habe das original-Release auf Vinyl. Allerdings die Version aus dem niederländischen Vertrieb lol
I’ve said it before and will do so again: I grew up in a house that did not play or follow the Beatles. This means I’m familiar with their more ubiquitous, popular tunes and know nothing of the middle songs. I enjoyed this album as much as the others I’ve heard by then so far. It’s ok but not something I would regularly seek out or put on. And on my scale, that’s a 3. I feel bad with a long streak of primarily 3s lately…I’d prefer to be more polarized. Not today. 3/5

6.8/10 One of those albums that kind of lost my interest over time. It used to be my favorite album, but as I discovered more and more music, it just kinda started sounding less and less exciting to me. I'm DEFINITELY not one to call The Beatles overrated, but this album kinda gives that title off for me. It's not a bad album by any means; there's ambition, cool recording techniques, and interesting ideas, but it just doesn't work for me coming back to it. Something about some moments just don't feel finished to me, even though they put in like 600 hours (I think) into mixing it. I just find myself gravitating to most other Beatles albums as opposed to Sgt Pepper's. A Day in the Life gives it bonus points though. One of, if not their best songs. (Had to throw in my icy cold take with my slightly warm one)

i don't like the beatles at all and don't understand why so many people love them. this album was actually better than expected, or maybe my tastes have changed so i dislike them less than i used to for some reason. still not something i would want to listen to regularly though
Hat mir besser gefallen als ich in Erinnerung hatte. Vor allem die erste Hälfte. Danach wurde es bisschen strange aber ganz cool 3.5/5

Beatles är beatles, vissa najs låtar, lite indiskt sound stundtals. Kan se de var viktiga för musiken utan att gilla dem.
