Popular Reviews

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan

What a beautiful and intimate album - these are the sorta live albums i like. you've got people laughing, you've got beautiful vocals and the backing band just know what their doing. love me big band albums cause i'm a lil bit of a jazzhead haha

Let's Get Killed by David Holmes

i saw a comment on this being like "The NYC vibe album", and I GOTTA agree, there's a beautiful mixture of the different elements of the new york scene in the 90's. one song reminded me so much of the main theme of the incredibles haha. plus afterwards it autoplayed a song off of oceans eleven which he composed which was pretty nice as well :p

Zombie by Fela Kuti

A funk world album is such an awesome combo and I really hope there’s more of it on the list later on mmmmmmm

Paul Simon by Paul Simon

A pretty good singer songwriter album (from what I would believe it is). Everything just sits nicely and the vocals are pretty cool

Shake Your Money Maker by The Black Crowes

It's an american blues rock album. It's alright, nothing too special and i liked the songs with piano which gave it a lil ragtimey feel but it just ain't my cuppa. would be fun in an american pub played live tho fav song: seeing things

Abbey Road by Beatles
Jan 14 2025

They really abbeyed that road huh. Come Together is like the most overrated Beatles song I swear to god we did a 60’s music assignment and every group but mine played that stupid song holy crap. Tho back to the album, it’s a Beatles album so what more can you say, it’s an album which you can smile to but I’m def listening to it 55 years too late haha Fav song: here comes the Sun

Pornography by The Cure
Jan 15 2025

i've given a listen the cure a few times over the course of the last few months, and this album is their weakest... not to say it's bad, just alot of the similar sound, and when it's the sort of the like rock-ambience sort of music this album has, it gets a bit too much into the background. However, the songs on individual listen ARE BEAUTIFUL it's so immersive in little pockets and would be a cool vinyl to own as something for a backing vibe. this music wouldn't be in anything pornographic tho... fav song : The Figurehead

Document by R.E.M.
Jan 16 2025

This album is… interesting. I am sure that this album could have gone without being on the “1001 albums to listen to before you die”, as it’s not anything special from what I’ve heard from R.E.M. I had to give this album multiple repeeps to actually get a favourite because I like… forgot it. All I can remember from the album is the part where he says “monkey monkey monkey” LMAOOO. I really hope their other albums are better, esp with the 18 million monthly. Fav song: fireplace

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Jan 17 2025

When I heard the 12 bar blues in "I love your loving ways", I knew I was in for a TREAT. Which might be a good time to say that 12 bar blues are more of the time boring (expect when jazzheads do em <3), but when they be an album opener OOOOOOOOOOOO goodness how much do they cook. so yeah, what more can I say? beautiful brass lines on the songs which have em, the piano is just drop dead GORGEOUS OMMGGGGGGG she is such a talented pianist as well, esp climaxing on If I Should Lose You. Either Way I Lose is such a clever idea of having bass vocals doing... bass hahah. what a wonderful way of ending the album little issues having her vocals sometimes not really hitting it tonely but that's prob due to experience compared to her 70's stuff. def deserves to be on not only a top 1001 but a top 201 albums :D fav song: That's All I Ask

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jan 18 2025

I can't understate how the post 2000's Shin Megami Tensei soundtracks / shoegaze has made me be able to appreciate this sorta music. When guitar go fuzzzz me be buzz. With that being said, that prob moved the album from like a 4/10 to a 6/10, because this sorta music ain't my style. The hits / the first half of this album are pretty decent tracks, but because of how popular this style of music has become, i've become very mellow to it, if they have more of an ambient-experimental album i would probably enjoy it more hmmm. Oh and something in the way was pretty cool as well. I can really see it's mass appeal for sure, it screams "teenage rebellion" or whatever Ben says it means haha. (also i was watching anime when listening to this (shoutout to RE:zero) and the episodes were pretty peak and it helped with the vibe so that might of helped) Fav: Come as You Are

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Jan 19 2025

This is a 2/5 because of "i'm not a fan of metal" rather then a "this is a below average album". For all merits, this is a FANTASTIC METAL album, everything from the dual metal vocals (which is just a staple in current metalcore sorta stuff), to that mmmmm bass and the drums are just all well done. It's just something I can't mesh with well, esp since playing metal over 30% volume gives me headaches. I do prefer their more melodic stuff over their intensity... so yeah, good job Slipknot. Fav song: Child of Burning Time

Jan 20 2025

This album goes from good to shit to A DROP DEAD BEAUTY. The start of this album has a lot of cool instrumentation decisions in a unique way (prob cause it's mostly MIDI stuff), and I was excited for an album with that direction. No One Receiving whilst having weird but pretty cool intentional vocal choices made me ponder if this was just gonna be another one of those "albums" that seems to litter this 1001 albums (the rock albums with a lil quirky change in them), or something unique and not expected. Sadly over the first 7 songs, the album just drops down in quality, ending up me letting it be background noise, with Julie With being... not a good song at all. I was so tuned out. I had 4 songs to go. I didn't want to continue. I hear the start of By This River. I froze. The gentle piano melody grabs all my attention. The backing chimes help add so much ambience. His vocals come in. They work so well. The midi strings come in. It gives the piece such a melancholic feeling to it. I hate making this comparison, but it honestly reminds me of "Waterfall" and "Quiet Water" from the UNDERTALE ost. But I think this does the vibe SO SO SO much better. The rest of the album complimented By The River so well... it saved the album. I assume this was the part after Science, because did the album just resonate with me once finishing. This album reminds me of the Grand Canyon :) Fav song: By This River (did i even need to say)

Shake Your Money Maker by The Black Crowes
Jan 21 2025

It's an american blues rock album. It's alright, nothing too special and i liked the songs with piano which gave it a lil ragtimey feel but it just ain't my cuppa. would be fun in an american pub played live tho fav song: seeing things

Legalize It by Peter Tosh
Jan 22 2025

I think this album best matches the vibes of the cover / name of it, it's just so smoooooth, Reggae has that just feeeels that come from the kinda swinging drums and beautiful vocals. I had to rate this album up a point on relisten because man is it just so well made. There's not a bad song on this whole album, just vibes, I think Maxi Priest is the reason why I'm a fan of this sorta style of stuff. Fav Song: No Sympathy

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Jan 23 2025

This is the most like... medieval a rock album can sound? It def gives the vibe of being from the early 1970's, as the effect pedals and the synth are super limited for the time, but they did do well for what they had on hands. Probably the most "above-average" album i've ever heard lmaooooo Fav Song: Child in Time

Maxinquaye by Tricky
Jan 24 2025

breakbeats are so delicious. i can't understand how goood this album is, even if it's sounds like sex music. i should probably check out more trip-hop if this is what it sounds like. tbf the album starts a lil weak but it gets SO GOOD BY THE END. fav song: aftermath (beep)

25 by Adele
Jan 25 2025

I feel like this album is very... corporation pop. It's super safe music, there a few songs on this album which given to someone for not the ideas of it being safe pop music, would the songs be like pretty fun. Would give Adele the chance for her to be able to showcase her works. This album would also be best heard live, it NEEDS those big speakers and width needed for it to shine. Fav Song: Send My Love

The La's by The La's
Jan 26 2025

I actually listened to this album twice within the 24 hours, one in the afternoon on the train and one during midnight cruising home. It fits both vibes very well... it's a very fun album, an album to bop your head to! It's just a solid album through and through, however I'm not sure if I would listen to any of the songs in isolation. Fav song: Feelin'

On The Beach by Neil Young
Jan 27 2025

Honestly this album is so…. Bland? Nor much to talk about it is good background music lmao Fav: Revolution Blues

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Jan 28 2025

Elvis Presley is a interesting artist, such a talented singer for the time and did bring the music industry lil more booming. however in personal taste, i'd rather listen to the original versions of the songs hmmmm. a true 5/10 fav song: money honey

Hearts And Bones by Paul Simon
Jan 29 2025

It's good cruising music, the album has some very nice instrumentation in it, and has a nice vibe :D . I think the first half of the album is kinda boring but the 2nd half has alot more sauce. the slap bass do be slapppppinnggg yummmm. fav song: Train in the Distance

The Trinity Session by Cowboy Junkies
Jan 30 2025

This album fits the name of the band SO WELL!!!!!! They ARE cowboy junkies. I just feel like I’m a saloon worker making food behind the counter and in the corner of my ears I just hear. This. Something I might put on if I’m ever out in the outback haha. The vocalists voice is just so soothing omg. Fav song: working on a building

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Jan 31 2025

When I opened this album up straight after reviewing the last album, gotta be honest. was a little disappointed. The first track SUCKS. however as the album goes on... it does get better. I do love the completely different styles, showcased in songs like "Close Behind", which gives like Video Game music vibes, like something out of Xenoblade, which gave me a little shock. Oh and when "The Book and the Canal" came on, WOOOOOOOAHHHHHH did it give me chills, such a beautiful piano and string section melody, would fit right into WALL-E. Could they PLEASE change the album cover please, that sucks so much. Trumpets are very sick tho.

Tommy by The Who
Feb 01 2025

This album is so long. I kinda get it, like, it’s an album from 1969 so why not do anything else haha, but this album just DRAAGGGSSSS ONNNNN. It feels like an elongated jam session, though honestly I prefer listening to alor of these tracks over like the Beatles LMAOOO. Fav song: Underture (even if some of the notes are so jwysuwokwhsua off key)

Deserter's Songs by Mercury Rev
Feb 02 2025

Overall, this is good album. I preferred the songs without the rock influence but it's just... so beautiful. Hope we get more albums like this :) Fav song: Endlessly

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Feb 03 2025

it's such a long album, especially for someone not into the beatles. i get why it's in here hahahaha, but man does this album drag so much in the 2nd half, by the end it just feels like a jam session lmao. it has some good tracks tho. fav song: my sweet lord

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Feb 04 2025

This is like my 5th time listening to this album in full... and I swear with every listen this album gets better. Just his voice alone is just powerful enough to give it a perfect rating, and to think it's just... this... from him. man. the world didn't deserve jeff buckley. fav song: grace

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Feb 05 2025

This albbbbuuummmmm is so grooooovvyyyyy woah. I love all the singing melodies, the FANTASTIC trumpets and those smooth as hell drums. Solid 8/10

Debut by Björk
Feb 06 2025

YUMMMMMMMMMM. this is SUCH a great album. I listened to it the first time a month ago and fell in love with Come To Me and Venus is a Boy. It's just beautiful. Her singing with the breakbeats stuff and just fusd0fiojsfsifoi it's amazing. fav song: Venus is a Boy

Floodland by Sisters Of Mercy
Feb 07 2025

This album was alright. The tracks are a lil long and get a bit repeat however the instrumentation was pretty cool. fav song: Lucretia My Reflection

Stankonia by OutKast
Feb 08 2025

Oh this is heat. Even if you gave this to me a year ago I would have rated it MUCH lower. It’s got amazing grooves and the flow is just incredible. Sounds even better when you peep on public transportation Fav song: Spaghetti Junction

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Feb 09 2025

Yeah it was alright, I liked the songs with the very punchy basslines but it’s nothing too special. Fav song: Thug

Want Two by Rufus Wainwright
Feb 10 2025

it's a good album, i've actually studied this album in a lecture before haha. not too outstanding in anyway thoooo fav song: i don't know what it is

Sea Change by Beck
Feb 11 2025

It's just alright. I don't know, the vocals are just lameish and i've heard a bunch of this sorta music so much other places. the production and vibes are nice tho fav: the golden age

Fear and Whiskey by Mekons
Feb 12 2025

Most "This doesn't deserve to be in the top 1000" album i've listened to thus far. feels like one of those bands that the people writing it were like "oh yeah i really like this personally so i'm just gonna add it" sorta vibe. Genuinely fell asleep to it.

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Feb 13 2025

cool instrumentation and some amazing ideas they present across the album. sadly not really for me :((

Feb 14 2025

this is a bob dylan album 👍 keep up the good work bob dylan fav: subterrain homesick blues

Illmatic by Nas
Feb 15 2025

Good Old Boys by Randy Newman
Feb 16 2025

omg the toy story guy made albums???? that's so cool, and the style has remained constant for like a few years waow. fav: back on my feet again

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Feb 17 2025

This was alright… this just sounds like music… this might of been psych rock in the 60’s but I def prefer newer psych rock

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Feb 18 2025

such a solid album... the bass goes insane and the hits are pretty mmmmmm amazing. fav: killing in the name of

Songs The Lord Taught Us by The Cramps
Feb 21 2025

Was playing red dead redemption whilst listening to this and it fit that vibe very well, but outside of that it’s just rock which I’m not too much of a fan of

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Feb 22 2025

like an actual amazing album, the instrumentation is just such a me thing to listen from the brass to the piano to well, everything would like an instrumental version of dis better tho

Feb 23 2025

atypical 90's country, was pretty nice to listen on a drive home but doesn't suit to listen outside of that

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Feb 24 2025

A pretty good singer songwriter album (from what I would believe it is). Everything just sits nicely and the vocals are pretty cool

The Sounds Of India by Ravi Shankar
Feb 26 2025

the sitar is a beautiful instrument, and this is just a lovely experience exploring the experimentation using this instrument.

sweet grooves and just a viiiibbbbeeeeeeeee, bob marley is cooooookkkiingggggggg

Tuesday Night Music Club by Sheryl Crow
Mar 02 2025

Ooooooh from only knowing her from her involvement in the cars soundtrack, this is fantastic. It’s just a nice take on grassroots rock with just some hella interesting music. I did find out that I knew All I wanna do which was a surprise so I guess I don’t just know her from cars

Mar 03 2025

Decent rock album with I believe an almost female cast which is sickkkkk. Gives me “If Olivia Rodrigo” made music in the 90’s haha

Mar 04 2025

Poppy electronic goodness, very synth very cool, and a whole bunch of guys on it, well done haha

Scott 4 by Scott Walker
Mar 05 2025

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Mar 06 2025

was alright, it's so so so so so british i've never heard anything more british in my life lmaooo

The Specials by The Specials
Mar 07 2025

I wouldn’t think they classify to be “special”, it’s not bad but it’s their band name is a lie. The bass is hella nice thooo and has good vibes

Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Mar 08 2025

Yeah this is a very influential album for sure, it’s sound is nothing like it for the 60’s, however due to its age I don’t think it’s too enjoyable of a listen, esp the 14min song. Solod

Destroyer by KISS
Mar 09 2025

No clue why I expected heavy metal, because this was… better than that. Good quality rock and I liked the stuff when they didn’t do rock better.

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Mar 10 2025

My mum said it the best “90’s Grunge mixed with supertramp”. Some nice songs but overall an interesting blend and def not the vibe from the cover

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Mar 11 2025

Very cool standard rock album for sure !! Def can hear it’s a lot of bands influence. Some good songs but a lot are a bit dated sadly

2112 by Rush
Mar 12 2025

They def weren’t rushing… very on the best rock music. Pretty cool and def better then the average rock album

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Mar 13 2025

Dave fought the foos!! This is so cool !! Very awesome to hear that this is a solo album, super duper cool omg. Raw tracks with some that sound a little shoegazey

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre
Mar 14 2025

So experimental for the time, kinda giving video game but much cleaner for the time haha. Got sick of it in the auto play queue afterwards but it was the perfect length !

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Mar 15 2025

girls just wanna have fun!! what a fun album with mostly straight bangers from the top to the bottom, with beautiful synths and vocals all the way through!

Mar 16 2025

OMG this hip hop album is just so juicy, love the rapping, love the breakbeats and the vibes are immaculate. They know how to cook. Tho not my fav hip hop album of this, nas better

Mar 17 2025

Beautiful album. If only album could be this consistently good! Coldplay is such a classic to me and my childhood. I don’t think there’s a bad track on this album :p

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Mar 18 2025

Bruce Springsteen is such a classic artist, though not as good as born to run. Solid but not the bessttt of his

Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Mar 19 2025

thank goodness i read the reviews and it saying i only needed to listen to the first 13 songs. it drags... great ideas and playing a game like Red Dead would make it much better, or at like a campfire setting, however a natural car listen home... not sure about that one. good stuff tho

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Mar 20 2025

Thay do be the bob Marley and that do be the wailers wow very standard album from them wow

Mar 21 2025

It’s average. Theres nothing special about it, though there’s nothing bad about it. Love the fact that it goes from male vocals to female vocals every other track.

Mar 22 2025

This is such an interesting concept to do a live album on the 1001... i def think it's a good idea for it. kinda iconic for them not to do their hits, though as someone who's not too into nirvana, i wish there kinda were. nevertheless, nice work !!

Mar 23 2025

such a novel concept of being a double album, though as someone who thinks genesis is alright... its good for the first like 50mins. some good track afterwards, but still a wonderful album haha. good driving music to and from a gig.

Parklife by Blur
Mar 24 2025

this album is kinda a blur. it's got so many ideas throughout each track, however, it's so BRITISH. laughing with my track at most songs at the different directions it was going through, has psych stuff to crooner stuff to just standard rock, to like the most british stuff ever. very fun album.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Mar 26 2025

Beach boys are such a classic band, pretty groovy for ‘71, and the vocals have really beautiful sounds effects on it

Da Capo by Love
Mar 27 2025

interesting that the album had a mono and stereo version within the same album, found that fascinating. I always find 60's psychedelic rock a bit boring, i love the genre 20 years later when it's more effect heavy but it just sounds like rock. nice drumming tho.

Roots by Sepultura
Mar 28 2025

Very important to have something A. Brazilian B. Heavy Metal in this list. sadly, not my stuff. Cool aspects but heavy metal gives me headaches

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Mar 29 2025

Found it more interesting but less enjoyable than his Electric Ladyland album. Kinda didn’t want him 2 weeks after the last one but that’s what happens haha

Exit Planet Dust by The Chemical Brothers
Mar 30 2025

So groovy and good, I’ll probably make the style of music if I was in the 90’s.

Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective
Mar 31 2025

Such a 2010’s album even tho it’s from 2009 lmao. Interesting electronic elements even tho the vocals are a bit wacky at times

Blackstar by David Bowie
Apr 01 2025

it's almost emotional to learn that this is bowie's death album... though saying that it's very hit or miss, the hits SLAP but it's a rough start to get there.

Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub
Apr 02 2025

Is there really a demand for ANOTTHERRRR random rock album from the 90's??? It's not that bad that I should give it a 1/5, but it's just a rock album. The vocals are just a barebones version of great singers, it's like taking away all the soul from the song. Def another person's cup of tea tho.

Devotional Songs by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Apr 03 2025

very interesting Pakistani album, it's nice !!! it's just cool music and nothing much outside of it, good to be on the 1001 for diversity of differing music

Arular by M.I.A.
Apr 04 2025

The more I learn about this lady the cooler this album becomes. Great electronic vibes and her voice is so nice to hear !!

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Apr 05 2025

A classic band with a classic album. I really like the amount of times I’ve played Californication cause bass players cant get enough of the song

Apr 06 2025

if you told me this is from 1968 and i didn't see this, i'd heavy doubt you, as the production is so peak. nice vocals and beautiful instrumentation but it's nothing too better then good background music.

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Apr 07 2025

french 2010's gay pop???? kinda iconic ngl, love the vibes but didn't fully hit the marks compared to some of my other goats in the genre. still a great choice for the 1001

Graceland by Paul Simon
Apr 08 2025

2nd Paul Simon album. It has his hit in it, cool. I just think it’s just so so so stock standard 😭😭😭😭 Nothing bad but nothing good either

The Yes Album by Yes
Apr 09 2025

Wow. What a lame album. Nothing about it is bad, it’s just eh prog rock. “Oh don’t judge prog rock on its first listen”, many will say, however it’s just not my cup of tea. Cool ideas over some songs but others (like I’ve seen all the good people) are just like… WHEN IS THIS GONNA ENDDDDD haha

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Apr 10 2025

Damn thay smith singer got low-key better in the 90’s. Cool stuff throughout it, with nice vibes

The Band by The Band
Apr 11 2025

For an album in the 60’s, pretty cool blend of genres to create a nice listening album whilst I walked the streets at night time.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Apr 12 2025

To my knowledge the 2nd R.E.M album I’ve done so far. This is a little better then Out of Time, tho not my much. A chill rock album never hurts anyone, esp one with a cool bass player

Club Classics Vol. One by Soul II Soul
Apr 13 2025

nice 90's club vibes, recognized some of the songs even if i don't hit the club all too often. cool stuff, needs a dj over it thoooooooo

Suicide by Suicide
Apr 14 2025

Look. This is so influential for the development of Synth pop music. I gotta hand it to that. I also gotta gonna say that the next song that came up on the auto queue on their next album was like 10x better. It makes me so conflicted ahhhh. Plus some songs were just terrible in the vocal parts. Nevertheless, very interesting album to have included

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Apr 15 2025

came into this with the thought of my radiohead fans that this isn't a good album, and whilst yeah, pulk / pull revolving doors is on there... there are a bunch of cool tracks on there. interesting album inbetween some greats.

Out of Step by Minor Threat
Apr 16 2025

good that it's an EP. i wouldn't of been really able to listen to much more of it... it's just noise to me, sorta punk i'm not really into. though really can see an audience for it

1999 by Prince
Apr 17 2025

Solid prince album for never really hearing him prior to this !!! 1999 is a classic, and a bunch of other solid songs throughout. Have had a bunch of less then an hour albums in recent so it made it a lil harder to focus the whole time

Drunk by Thundercat
Apr 18 2025

Thundercat really killed it with this one !!! Incredible bass work, and whenever he uses synths, it also kills. Fun groovy album throughout this all!!

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Apr 19 2025

frank ocean plz drop this one of the albums of all time and i need more then just this and blonde i beg

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Apr 20 2025

if you like noise rock, you'll love this. if not, the most average album you'll ever hear.

Odelay by Beck
Apr 21 2025

interesting album. so very 90's core, rock and all. nice use of trumpets and other brass throughout the album though !!

Synchronicity by The Police
Apr 22 2025

my twin's favourite artist, so no matter what i say apart from "this is the best thing ever i love every song wow" will get me flammed. solid album tho he kinda has taste...

Let's Get Killed by David Holmes
Apr 23 2025

i saw a comment on this being like "The NYC vibe album", and I GOTTA agree, there's a beautiful mixture of the different elements of the new york scene in the 90's. one song reminded me so much of the main theme of the incredibles haha. plus afterwards it autoplayed a song off of oceans eleven which he composed which was pretty nice as well :p

At Budokan by Cheap Trick
Apr 24 2025

For a live album, this sounded pretty good, love how the name of the album was the place they performed the set. though it's rock music and it sounded a lot like a bunch other stuff i've heard recently.

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Apr 25 2025

fun silly disco inspo rock music from the 2000's!! what more could you want from music haha

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Apr 26 2025

these fundamental 60's albums to me are just getting so stale. like sure they are very important for developing music as we know it, i'm just... bored.

Since I Left You by The Avalanches
Apr 27 2025

as a sample based producer, i can really appreciate a high quality sample based album. it's so interesting and i love all the elements to make it in a nice cohesive and funky package!

Apr 28 2025

i feel like this album is a precursor to the many album in the 2010's which sound similar to that, which is cool. nice backing instruments in the strings when they have them :)

Kid A by Radiohead
Apr 29 2025

didn't expect another radiohead album so soon (fyi 13 days). they are geniuses at what they do for sure, but another mixed bag album similar to Amnesic, however at a higher quality for the highlights. so close to a 4

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Apr 30 2025

Jazz samples with breakbeats with 90’s hip hop ?????? And you gonna say someone rated this under a 4???? Insanely good the bus ride was baller !!!

Smash by The Offspring
May 01 2025

High octane, full throttle music. The drummer is working overtime lmao I swear. Not my sorta music I’m into but it would deserve a better score if I was into it haha.

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
May 02 2025

I feel like this is a good baseline album for if something deserves a 2 or a 3 on the list. Probably the most 5/10 album I’ve heard, pretty decent rock with nice instrumentation and stuff. It’s very standard imo

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
May 03 2025

Trip hop or whatever they call it??? The drums are just immaculate, grabbed me in as soon as the album started. Vocals are also very nice as well :) Really in the border between a 3 and 4, flipped a coin at it landed tails so it’s a 3

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
May 04 2025

pretty standardly cool rock album, the instrumental songs were my favs cause they had a bit more diversity in instrumentation to them :)

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
May 05 2025

this album is such an influential piece of media, a prison live album is such a powerful thing. the moment between the crowd and cash is just so humane. i just don't like country...

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
May 06 2025

i feel like this album is everything against what i personally enjoy in music. not to say it's objectively bad, the sorta rock they play just makes me wanna yawn.

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
May 07 2025

A very nice consistent album from The Police. I don't think you can go wrong with them, solid drumming, nice singing, everything is just cohesive. Great stylistic inspos as well.

World Clique by Deee-Lite
May 08 2025

That album was Deee-Liteful. straight club bangers top to bottom. GROOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE ISSSSS INNNN THE HEARRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTT

Doolittle by Pixies
May 09 2025

people said to me "oh no not the pixies, they are like the smiths but worse and more pretentious". this peaked my interest, and after listening... it made me have the realization. they were right.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
May 10 2025

i do like their new wave approach to punk, it makes me quite enjoy the listening experience for a genre i don't typically enjoy as much !

Rid Of Me by PJ Harvey
May 11 2025

Alt rock which probably means it’s a 3/5. Tho I liked six man sextet cause I love bjork and it has that energy haha

Vincebus Eruptum by Blue Cheer
May 12 2025

The epitome of what I hate in music. 60’s blues rock with screams vocals with kinda eh mixing. Like, what can you do haha. Thank goodness it’s 32 minutes long… any more and I’d scream

Music From Big Pink by The Band
May 13 2025

One of my favourite parts about 60’s albums is that stereo that they have where the drums will be in one ear and then piano will be in the other. I liked the piano ear mmmmm.

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
May 14 2025

very INTERESTING 90's indie rock album. some of the songs on this... yeah... some of the worst rock i've ever heard. the vocalistic lowkey kinda needed vocal on some of time. however, they had some solid songs, so it's not like i can fully bash them haha.

Rock Bottom by Robert Wyatt
May 15 2025

Art rock is always so fascinating to me. One of THE most interesting genres to exist, has so much quirky stuff in each genre. Very solid

Sunshine Hit Me by The Bees
May 16 2025

I'd say The bees are pretty standard for indie rock, i didn't really get anything too much special out of them, but like, def not a bad experience at all !!! must listen to fans of the genre tho

Superunknown by Soundgarden
May 17 2025

hey if everyone made grunge like they did in this album... i think i'd like it a bit more. BLACK HOLE SUNNNNN. WON'T YOU COME (?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!)

The Pleasure Principle by Gary Numan
May 18 2025

One can tell it's an influential synth album because of how it just... flows. i liked it but def something you have to listen to rather then you want to listen to.

NEU! 75 by Neu!
May 19 2025

another one of those “you need to listen to this” rather then “you would want to listen to this” album. Low-key forgot I was listening to music at some points, and the rock parts aren’t my thing.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
May 20 2025

a delight of an album to listen to. this reminds me of 2016 when the jones brothers made that... cover of the song, and finally seeing how much better the original was. Whole album is wonderful, the messages are just so in your face and honestly we need more of these sorta albums to make people realise injustice. esp now with trump (yuck) in power.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
May 21 2025

I am a trumpet player. I play jazz as apart of a bunch of my college assessment tasks. Miles Davis is my favourite trumpet player (i know, basic pick for someone's who's played for 8 years now haha). Somehow i've never heard of this album before, so yeah. Brilliant. As soon as I saw it was a 2 track album I knew I was in for a delight. I love jazz fusion, and I never knew Davis did an Jazz Fusion album, though knowing his stuff from the 90's, why am I not surprised at all. Having Hancock and Corea on piano OOOOOOOOOOOOo just incredible stuff. Sadly don't know the other players on this album :( I need this on vinyl.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
May 22 2025

what a LOVELY swing band to grace my ears. Louis on vocals and trumpet was just such a nice and cheerful thing, and Keely on backing vocals was a nice duality. very simple but so rich in soundssss.

Clandestino by Manu Chao
May 23 2025

A Latin inspired album by a French guy. I’m sure there is some story about the most insane story whilst this album was playing, because the vibes are immaculate nom. Would love more live I think.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
May 24 2025

this was BARELY better then the last pixie albums i listened to... tho saying that, where is my mind SUCKS OMG. can we just wait maybe 2 years to give me the next pixie albums i can't...

Sex Packets by Digital Underground
May 25 2025

Ahhh 90’s hip hop is so cool, great backing beats, the vocals are fun and the “oh this is the 3min mark radio stations u can tune out” part is such an earworm haha

Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear
May 26 2025

beautiful vibes throughout the album, i found this very very nice to study with :) not a single bad track on this lovely reggae album. hearing that there is a Jamaican version however makes me wanna listen to that version too.

May 27 2025

For an album to actively captivate me for the entire 2hr 15min, this album must mean… something. I didn’t even mind it being double length. Great samples, great drums, the rap flowed so well. Great product

Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera
May 28 2025

I feel like this album is what I think IS 2000’s pop. Surprised there isn’t a hit on the album with the amount of solid tracks on here. Aguilera’s voice is also just mmmmmm so good

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
May 29 2025

Quite a fun album but a lil forgettable… like I liked the songs in it, but i couldn’t remember a track once it ended. Saying that, pretty good for early 70’s stuff.

Orbital 2 by Orbital
May 30 2025

Oh I KNOW people gonna hate this album to pieces, don’t even need to look at the reviews to see that. Beautiful 90’s electronica with nice choice of sampling, great drums, and gets better with every song. I knew it would be a baller album when the “when time becomes a loop” bit played for 2 minutes in the nice stereo sound bit at the VERY START OF THE ALBUM. crazy producers like to do crazy things to almost gatekeep their albums from the folk who wouldnt like it haha.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
May 31 2025

i don't have much to say... it's just an album. Bob Dylan doesn't excite me nor bores me - he just exists and i listen and think nothing. 3/5 because it's in the middle.

Permission to Land by The Darkness
Jun 01 2025

Kinda gave like 80’s rock album but done in the 2000’s lmao. Cool stuff esp that hit song haha

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
Jun 02 2025

There was like 2 good tracks on this album, better than the other Morrissey album handed to us. His voice is less bad his other projects

Aja by Steely Dan
Jun 03 2025

One of my friends loves this album and ngl when I heard some songs from this it didnt click. But when I heard the full album I was pretty surprised at how much of a vibe this soft rock album has. Pretty good with its instrumentation and its ability to move away from “conventional stuff”.

Phrenology by The Roots
Jun 04 2025

Honestly surprised to learn this is an album from 2002 - this has such a mid 90’s style to it. Tho saying that, going off that era, this wasn’t special for the time so yeah. Enjoyable experience tho

Quiet Life by Japan
Jun 05 2025

album that is like "yeah i can see why this album inspired people to make the stuff i enjoy lots but since it's in that groundworks stage it's a bit less good" but i loved the synths and the tracks without Nye were baller

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Jun 06 2025

i was pondering on my review on this album until i heard smoke on the water live and was like "OMG MY DAD TAUGHT ME HOW TO PLAY THAT LIKE 10 YEARS AGO OMG THAT'S SO COOL" and yea that's very cool. also a teacher recced me this album and i finally can say i've heard it. nice rock .P

Rio by Duran Duran
Jun 07 2025

This is my father’s favourite band and I get why. Super high level production with a mixture of jams and experimental synth work. Plus I love the bass, I use basses with almost the exact same sound.

Rum Sodomy & The Lash by The Pogues
Jun 08 2025

good old irish folk. def not what i had in mind going into this album, but it such was a delight on a cold winter morning. esp loved the waltzing Matilda track at the end

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line
Jun 09 2025

this was insane finding out that like this wasn't on spotify - so i listened to it 50 days later... i'm shocked this was removed cause it was lowkey cool but i get why.

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden
Jun 10 2025

I get the hype. It’s so powerful but also like also kinda relaxing as well… good blend. Not typically a fan of metal but I’d vibe to this

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Jun 11 2025

THERE WAS ONE GOOD SONG ON THIS. I’m glad IS THE ONLY REASON WHY THIS ISNT A 1/5. 60’s psychedelic rock SUCKS AND I CANT STAND IT. Omg wow how good does drugs make music, hahahaahahahhaha. It’s boring, whilst trying to be pretentious. AND THIS ALBUM GOES ON FOR 70 MINS ???????? ALSO WHATS UP WITH THE PANNING ON THIS ALBUM????? The sound and mixing engineer should never be allowed to be on any other records because this is such a piss poor job of how to treat music. Also the main singer just sounds drunk the whole album, ur not a vibe… Edit. I wrote this 2 songs before the ending. Oh god. How bad are the last 2 songs. How did this even pass production. They approved this?????

Kimono My House by Sparks
Jun 12 2025

This was much more Japan then Japan was lmao (I got them last week so yeah). Pretty middle of the road 70’s rock so that’s sick stuff.

The Beach Boys Today! by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2025

TikTok would have loved this if it existed back in the 60’s. Short and sweet and very fun, also rip that member who died :(

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Jun 14 2025

this was EXACTLY what i needed at like 5pm after a long friday work shift.... beautiful voice aretha has, feat the better version of a bunch of people have covered. what a queen <3

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Jun 15 2025

VIBES JUST ABSOLUTE VIBBESSSS mmmm i didn't care the songs were 10mins each they were just vibes nom nom nom

Bone Machine by Tom Waits
Jun 16 2025

one of my music teachers is obsessed with tom waits. i can't even lie this just gives off making music for music "elitists". not a bad album just has some bad parts, but the good parts are mmmmmmmmm.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Jun 17 2025

a world album with influences from blues, gotta say these albums are the reason why i do this. honestly could do with more african influence as it half felt like the record label wanted to turn it down but nevertheless a vibe

The Clash by The Clash
Jun 18 2025

man what where they doing pre london calling omg. i'm so glad they picked up their act for that album because this is just kinda bland but also the vocals are such an ick. the drummer baller tho

Night Life by Ray Price
Jun 19 2025

I found it so funny on the first track when he was like “tell me if you like it, cause I’ll make more of this if you like”, if I’m not 60 years too late to this haha. It’s one of those albums ur grandpa has in his collection which is spinning weirdly cause it’s been played that many times. Would love to hear this with a bunch of crackling on it, kinda was made in mind of that lmao.

Jun 20 2025

This is just a Queen compilation album with just a little bit of differences cause it was live haha.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jun 21 2025

these guys ARE METAL. tho it's hard to say it as the guys who kinda made metal into what metal is. cool stuff overall.

Oar by Alexander 'Skip' Spence
Jun 22 2025

a "skip" album for me... quite forgettable and the sauce probably lies in the lyrics where i don't pay attention to... nice mixing tho for the time

Chelsea Girl by Nico
Jun 23 2025

this was good but i can't give it more then a 2... i just didn't vibe with it at all, but it was good music. the 60's singer songwriter stuff i just don't like.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Jun 24 2025

look. i know a bunch of people will say this is the greatest album of all time and be firm on this. i can understand why, it's just. this is my 3rd singer songwriter album in a row, and like... i do not like the genre. i can appreciate what it's done for music as a WHOLE but this is just not it. the harmonica solos also like are just annoying lmao

All Directions by The Temptations
Jun 25 2025

this album was awesome, once i found out it was a motown album i knew i was in for a TREAAAAATTTT. always great stuff.

Nowhere by Ride
Jun 26 2025

My only experience with shoegaze is my bloody valentine and this random vocaloid album so it was awesome hearing more cleanish shoegaze. Call me a fan of the genre

Darkdancer by Les Rythmes Digitales
Jun 27 2025

awesome music, i can't even lie, i love loopy house like music for ever and ever. i just wonder, why THIS album. i know so many other albums in a similar vibe which have a better grasp on the genre which are better which aren't on here (like cassius omg)

Scissor Sisters by Scissor Sisters
Jun 29 2025

A mixed bag album - liked some of it and disliked others, it’s just VERY silly. It’s also kinda disco which is very fun

Let England Shake by PJ Harvey
Jun 30 2025

look this sounds like bjork if she was british and it was made like maybe 20 years later with a completely different field of mind haha. this is the sorta singer songwriter stuff i liked. liked the song with trumpet

Imagine by John Lennon
Jul 01 2025

Yeah John Lennon makes some cool stuff, just a nice and consistent album :)

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jul 02 2025

Some alt album trying to be more than what it’s worth just cause it’s an hour 20 long. Not bad just, alright?

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jul 03 2025

Yeah this album was not it for me - too messy (which I kinda get it’s the style) and nothing really flowed… great guitars tho

Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Jul 04 2025

Look, I’m not too into folk rock, most of this is just a lesser version of the Australian folk rock stuff that has released since, tho kinda impressive for the late 60’s. Liked that one jazz inspo song tho

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Jul 05 2025

Good album overall, just a lil long in my opinion. A lot of it was just filler but the hits HIT mmmmm

Step In The Arena by Gang Starr
Jul 06 2025

The problem I’ve found with this 1001 is that gave me Illmatic FIRST, so every single hip hop album from the 90’s is instantly compared to that, and since that’s the goat, hard to beat. This was pretty good nevertheless, I did like the sampling more and more throughout the album, but nothing really rememberable.

We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention
Jul 07 2025

hmmmm. i have to think that they weren't JUST in it for the money. my main issue with most 60's music is that i find it too bland, but this opens with just, idk how to describe noises, and that's awesome. not something i'd revisit but an album i'm glad to have listened to

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Jul 08 2025

Stevie Wonder is such a talent to the world. Whilst not his best album, this album is just… so insane. Every song oozes with charm and fun, it’s like you get transported to another world of just soul and vibes. I knew half the album also haha. Phenomenal listen on my morning commute

Jul 09 2025

I didn’t know just changing the language to French makes 90’s hip hop like 20x cooler. It is a vibbbbeeeee with how his flow and the samples behind it are so simple yet effective.

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Jul 10 2025

give this to me more then like a year ago and i wouldn't of liked it - give it to me now and i'm enjoying it - it's rock and roll but has SOUL in it. and not just soul, but SOUL.

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Jul 11 2025

this sounded like one of those "anti piracy" ad sorta music. like it was tryna be cool, and to be honest, it was cool. 90's pysch rock mixed with breakbeats is a fun combo and i hope it's something again. also shoutout chemical brothers for the 2nd goated album (even tho this is a 3/5 compared to their last 4/5)

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Jul 12 2025

pretty middle of the road art rock album - has it's place esp for being a post 2004 album so yea

Larks' Tongues In Aspic by King Crimson
Jul 14 2025

Forgettable prog rock - nothing of substance and just kinda noise throughout the album. Not bad but just bland

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Jul 15 2025

What do I need to say about this album that hasn’t be said already?

Garbage by Garbage
Jul 16 2025

I was half in doubt and half in interest when I told my father about this album prior to listen to it and he was like “OH THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME”. Turns out he was right. Damn. Awesome alt rock with insane production like it doesn’t have a bad track in it at all.

Remedy by Basement Jaxx
Jul 17 2025

What a… bad electronic album. Look, I listen to ALOT of the genre and this is probably the bottom of what I’ve heard. I’ve heard beginner producers make 5x better stuff than this. Tho saying that they did make an absolute banger on this absolute, bingo bango alone nearly pushed this to a 3 hahaha. But I’m not that kind so yea

Stripped by Christina Aguilera
Jul 20 2025

pretty awesome album - it's actually awesome pop music mmmmm with so much different inspos with great vocals

Boy In Da Corner by Dizzee Rascal
Jul 21 2025

I can’t believe this is one of the biggest exports in the UK scene ??? Like really??? Not that I didn’t enjoy it a lil, but like it’s not that good of a rap album. The sampling is nice, some vocals but overall it just falls extremely flat

With The Beatles by Beatles
Jul 22 2025

2 because it’s below average. The Beatles are influential, but it doesn’t means I particularly enjoy listening to them. Like it’s such an important part of musical history and that’s really my only enjoyment of this album.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

I mean yeah this is the first heavy metal album which is pretty quirky but I do like how much other stuff they’ve packed into this album, it’s so so much interesting instrumentation and that’s pretty neat

Jul 25 2025

Id say this is pretty enjoyable background music. The art rock influence in this album is pretty awesome, and loved it when it went to more experimental bits :)

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Jul 26 2025

I think the only reason people like Bob Dylan is because of the time. Like if I was stuck in the 60's and he was on, i guess i would suffice listening to him (even though jazz at that time >>>>>>>>). The more of him i listen to, the more i dislike it esp that ANNOYING HARMONICA PLZ REMOVE IT.

The Rise & Fall by Madness
Jul 27 2025

omg these are the peeps who made our house. pretty baller ska type beats across the album mmmm

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 28 2025

I love the instrumentation in this - it’s so rich and I love whilst it’s a folk rock album, they’ve taken so much liberties in making it as genre fluid as they could for the time. Nice listening experience - wouldnt mind listening to it in the car.

Transformer by Lou Reed
Jul 29 2025

Instrumentally I wouldnt rate this as high as I have - it’s just alright rock music. But since the rock isn’t that like impactful, I almost had to focus in on the lyrics, which was a shock to hear how powerful they are, always love an album talking about gender norms and breaking them. Note: I hadn’t listened to the last song before writing this - the last song is def the best one on the album. Love me my ragtime? music.

Peter Gabriel by Peter Gabriel
Jul 30 2025

Exactly what i would think from a Peter Gabriel album like... good vocals and alright backings. Had Solsbury Hill on it so it gets a 3 haha

Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith
Jul 31 2025

I always find Aerosmith to be one of those cool 70’s bands and this def lives up to that legacy !

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Aug 01 2025

Was a lil skeptical about the title of the album but listening to this it kinda grooved. Shocked for 60’s music haha I’m low-key disappointed from the decade typically.

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Aug 02 2025

A funk world album is such an awesome combo and I really hope there’s more of it on the list later on mmmmmmm

Odessa by Bee Gees
Aug 03 2025

This album is alright but i'd prob give peak Bee Gees a 3 and this is kinda not as good as yea. Nice singing tho

Logical Progression by LTJ Bukem
Aug 04 2025

this is just not a 5 star album. what a masterclass of an album for the drum and bass scene in the 90's. whilst it's long length at a bit over 2 hours, it doesn't have a bad moment throughout it's whole listen. i love the genre - and have made some myself, so it's a cool listen to see what the "best" of the genre in the 90's was like. solid 9/10 album.

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Aug 05 2025

Middle of the road Beatles album, nothing too special from it compared to their white album or abbey road.

I See A Darkness by Bonnie "Prince" Billy
Aug 06 2025

This album isn't the most exciting thing in the world - I feel like this is the sorta album that would be helped with nice rain ambience behind it. It did help with with my studies though - so i'll give it that.

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Aug 07 2025

Quirky swingly big band with a funkiness of blues. Cool fun but a lil repetitive

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Aug 08 2025

It’s just hip hop fun. I love their licensed to ill album and this is just a slightly more modern version of their work - and I love their sampling too

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Aug 09 2025

cool singer songwriter stuff from the 2000's, and if an album has as much trumpet in it as this does, i'm gonna enjoy it. also what a cool album concept wise

Aug 10 2025

Honestly a bit of a bland album in all, it’s not that memorable and instantly in the auto queue afterwards there was a cover of Valerie by them which was like… way better then anything in that album. Made me a lil disappointed

Back to Mystery City by Hanoi Rocks
Aug 11 2025

This is so standard and atypical 80’s glam rock which I wonder why did they include it - maybe as a benchmark to rate all the other albums off of ? Wish it had more going for it

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Aug 12 2025

Very soft and beautiful album. I always can appreciate a nice jazzy (but also very poppy) album on an overcast / slightly raining day. Just not enough to get a 4 tho

Caetano Veloso by Caetano Veloso
Aug 13 2025

I listened to this album with my mum, and she described it the best “If I was in the 60’s and at a bistro, this is the perfect music that would be playing behind all the banter”. Perfectly summed up, it’s nicely spaced and has enough interesting stuff to be like “oooh that was nice from x”

Playing With Fire by Spacemen 3
Aug 14 2025

This is like the opposite of reggae music but I think u need drugs to appreciate this album as much as the artist wanted you to. Me on a tiring bad Friday morning - not at all in the right mood for this. It was “cool” but not interesting

Guitar Town by Steve Earle
Aug 15 2025

It’s hard to like an album if you hate the genre it’s based off of - I am not a fan of country one bit. Whilst this is a good demonstration of the genre and nice playing from the guitar - I just can’t like it.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Aug 16 2025

This was very comforting - good length because it would have dragged if was longer. Esp liked the last song with it’s theming

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Aug 17 2025

If it was just the Instrumentals ? probably a 3, but I dislike these sorta vocals IMMENSIVELY. i'm sure the lyrics have really good meaning but i don't pay attention to them... i liked the last track the best cause he barely talked in it

Close To You by Carpenters
Aug 18 2025

this is beautiful string heavy pop, which i loved mostly every single track. the vocals were amazing and the vibes are just mmmmm.

Ramones by Ramones
Aug 19 2025

This is a fun album. Is it a good album? Not really, but it’s fun. The same drums and vocals are throughout this whole album and it’s almost like one 29 minute long song. Maybe id give it a 3 if I didn’t already listen to this album this year already, it’s not the sorta album to listen to more then once in your life

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Aug 20 2025

You can tell it’s their debut album cause it feels so raw and unpolished - but hey how awesome huh. I rate this album and it’s def above the pack for the era it dropped in.

Aug 21 2025

Look, I love funk, but this kinda missed the mark. Not like bad missed the mark, it just doesn’t have that hook to it to make it be a proper special album. It has its fun moments but it really drags at times.

Heartattack And Vine by Tom Waits
Aug 22 2025

This is one of the worst albums i've heard so far - but not a one because those are reserved for the WORST things in existence. Terrible voice, most songs are boring but there was some nice moments in here overall, esp with the songs with strings in it.

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Aug 23 2025

Beautiful jazz from Ellington, 2 hours of just… nice solos and playing from the whole band.

Viva Hate by Morrissey
Aug 24 2025

another morrissey album?????? help us all, this was alright but not even his best so like 2/5 here we GOOOOO

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Aug 25 2025

I find with a lot of the entries from the 60’s I’m looking at them too much from a current perspective rather than a complete overlook of the album. Realistically I found this to be alright - nothing special, solid roots but nothing to make it pop. But, that’s just the time it’s being played in. If I was in the 60’s and there wasn’t too much else to obsess over, I wouldn’t mind.

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Aug 26 2025

I'm a little disappointed - i got prince and was expecting this amazing album and what i got was a random collection of songs that loosely have a theme today - it's not bad in any way but nothing special or something i'd ever revisit

Aug 27 2025

A lot of “not bad but not anything spectacular” albums at the moment - I did like the sax parts in this album, so that made it a lil more listenable.

Headquarters by The Monkees
Aug 28 2025

Below average 60's pop, like i get the hype of the band it's just 60's fun and i'm not into that 60's stuff so i find it to be pretty, like, alright.

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Aug 29 2025

Very revolutionary for being a 1950’s album for sure - pretty well mixed as well, nothing id ever listen to again but something I’m glad to hear!

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Aug 30 2025

if this album didn't have Layla this might of been a pure 1/5. I was sick of the album within 30mins of listening to it, and it just KEPT GOING ON. i don't like blues rock and man... it's just so generic and just had NOTHING FOR IT. took all the soul outta me lmao.

Aug 31 2025

Great vocalist with a great message throughout the album - however the album in of itself is quite forgettable - i can't really remember anything that blew me away or made me find it too interesting, not to say it wasn't anything bad. Nothing compares 2 U was pretty fun tho.

The United States Of America by The United States Of America
Sep 01 2025

what a revolutionary album for the time. it's very experimental and pushes the bounds of sampling and effects for the time. that's all the positives i can say for this album. it is far from properly listenable, i could not imagine listening to this album again without it giving me a headache haha. i see it more as a piece of art rather then like... actual music, even though there are songs which have the conventional music flow haha.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Sep 02 2025

A good mix between hella experimental stuff and solid music production.

Freak Out! by The Mothers Of Invention
Sep 03 2025

You laugh you go to hell. I can’t believe this is the 2nd Zappa album I get in a row and this album is just significantly WORSE than the last one I got…

The Sensual World by Kate Bush
Sep 04 2025

Am I allowed to say that this sounds like an earlier version of what Bjork did, still very cool but yeah def got that pop vibe to it whilst leaning into some beautiful world based instrumentations and vibes

Fishscale by Ghostface Killah
Sep 05 2025

Very standard 2000’s rap album, few hits I enjoyed but nothing that excited me lmao

Sep 06 2025

if it wasn't the beatles making this album... i'd probably enjoy it a lot more. this album is so revolutionary - it helped shaped most albums i've ever listened to in my life, the fascinating use of all sorts of instruments is just such a wonder - you only need to look at the review i gave a few days prior on Kate Bush's The Sensual World to see that I love that sorta stuff. I just can't... enjoy it. they just don't do anything special to me, their voices are annoying to me. maybe i just dislike 60's Psychedelic Rock...

London Calling by The Clash
Sep 07 2025

If I were asked “what rock album do you recommend listening to this” I’d probably answer this album. It’s a fascinatingly interesting album with great hits and an overall high quality across it. Third time listening to this album tho LMAO

Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Sep 08 2025

For 15 minutes, this album kinda baller cause that’s exactly how long the album SHOULD BE. I’d probably get bored if it was a standard release but hey, nice work circle jerks

Songs For Swingin' Lovers! by Frank Sinatra
Sep 09 2025

Call me a swingin’ lover the way I enjoy this album!!! Super high quality swing music from the king of the voice frank Sinatra himself, not a single miss and from the 50’s too is just yumm

Beach Samba by Astrud Gilberto
Sep 10 2025

pretty awesome 60's samba album, i knew from when i first clicked play i was in for a treat, cool bossa for a bus ride home yeaaaa

California by American Music Club
Sep 11 2025

This album isn't anything too special - it's rock and does a good job at that. i feel like this slot could be used for many many other rock albums that got cut on the list - feels like one of editors loved this album to death and needed it on there. #justicefoaustralianrockonthelist

Elvis Is Back by Elvis Presley
Sep 12 2025

Fever is such a banger song that I appreciate every cover of it that has happened so yeah well done Elvis. Feels like a bunch of singles but hey it’s elvis so one cant super complain.

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Sep 13 2025

I guess the description of “dance music drums over rock beat” really matches this- def had a sight preference to this over the average rock album. Last track was awesome with the breakbeats

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Sep 14 2025

It didn't really click to me the whole time listening, I doubt this is the sorta music for me - since i don't really "hear lyrics" and instead pay attention to melody i found this a bit of a boring album but i'm sure it's got proper value to it throughout the world

Sep 15 2025

i don't ever have high expectations for country albums, and this was right on what i expected for this album (esp when i saw the playcount on this). there was nice instrumentals bits in this but the vocals were so cringey lmaoooooo. not a bad album at all

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Sep 16 2025

What a beautiful and intimate album - these are the sorta live albums i like. you've got people laughing, you've got beautiful vocals and the backing band just know what their doing. love me big band albums cause i'm a lil bit of a jazzhead haha

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Sep 17 2025

it's just simple, good, honest pop / rock and roll from the 60's. yeah it's def their best album.

La Revancha Del Tango by Gotan Project
Sep 18 2025

i was listening to this on headphones and was like "this isn't right". i moved it to my phone speakers and had a great time with it. it's such a chill album, great vibes, if companies hold music was at this level of quality i'd probably enjoy calling up companies 10 fold. i doubt this'll be something I well, ever return to, but it def had a hold on me hehe.

Sep 19 2025

what a cool concept for an album but man did it just not hit LMAO, nothing of it really hooked me, a samba based electronic album is def something i thought i'd enjoyed more.

21 by Adele
Sep 20 2025

I mean this is like extremely produced pop music, if this isn't a 3/5 idk what would be. Without a doubt better then 25, was overall better in everyway to that album.

Sep 21 2025

Hearing early Rod Stewart was a fascinating experience, esp since I love his later works a bunch more. I thought it was good but nothing too special, I have no clue why Maggie May is as popular as it is tho cause it didnt really get any real reaction out of me haha.

Goodbye And Hello by Tim Buckley
Sep 22 2025

yeah this folk singersongwriter stuff from the 60's is just NOT for me omg. esp when it's not my first listen of this album - gets boring hella quick. the best thing about Tim is the fact that Jeff came into life, i have to give him that haha

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Sep 23 2025

Nice samples, nice flow, a good mix of experimental stuff whilst also being a smooth listen. Will always FW political commentary albums loads.

Fifth Dimension by The Byrds
Sep 24 2025

Boring soulless 60’s psychedelic rock.

Connected by Stereo MC's
Sep 25 2025

Pretty middle of the road hip hop / electronic album. Cool samples and what not but again, i don't see this album being something I'd of have to listen to. Not as good as Nas' Illmatic.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Sep 26 2025

Michael Jackson is such a brilliant artist so ofc one of his biggest album is very good. unfortunately, it's far from the best, thriller clears the album in every way possible. there's quite a few misses on this album but overall it's such a vibe tho

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Sep 27 2025

I got kinda bored of this album really quickly, it’s a bunch of similar ideas and it doesn’t tonally change all too much, good songs just a bit repetitive

Sep 28 2025

I'm not too much of a fan of metal, but this was good metal, a lot of my friends quote their growling a bit. I don't think this is anything special, just good. Guitars were pretty killer tho, instrumentally it had it's cool moments

Dance Mania by Tito Puente
Sep 29 2025

I was shocked to learn that i knew as many tracks as I did on the album. woulda gone even more crazy when i was doing salsa dance lessons (maybe that's why it's so familiar). latin hasn't failed me yet.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Sep 30 2025

I knew this album would be baller before I heard it. A beautiful sax and guitar based bossa album, not a single bad track and it's just vibe after vibe

Closer by Joy Division
Oct 01 2025

A rock album which has every element to be a great album, lovely synths and cool vocals, but underwhelms me in every way

Devil Without A Cause by Kid Rock
Oct 02 2025

What have we got in this... country? ew. metal? can be tasteful SOMETIMES. some poser white guy? ew. i think this album is just not for me. Cowboy might JUST be the worst song i've ever heard I laughed so bad. I almost fell asleep listening to this album too so that's that too. I feel like this is for the people who think they can just start a band in their garage and expect it to blow up and them to get all the chicks and be living the life. nothing redeemable from it.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Oct 03 2025

Out of I and IV that i've listened to so far, this is def the weakest one IMO. didn't grab me the same ways the others have so far. def cool parts and all. I do wonder though, what's the importance in listening to all 4 of them, it's not like they are too different from each other imo.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Oct 04 2025

Not as good as Ajr, but def a solid rock album with jazz influence. It makes me happy when bands push the boundaries in instrument use.

The Age Of The Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets
Oct 05 2025

So so so indie, always interesting to get an album that i feel like defined what would be the sound of 2010's indie rock and stuff like that. The oldie influences are used kinda tastefully (which is insane cause i don't like most rock to come out in the 60's)

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Oct 06 2025

A lot of my friends really enjoy The Gorillaz... all I can say to them is. How? I'd rather the guy start a composing shtick and write some Y2K inspired Video Game Bangers rather then this bland ass album. There's some good ideas, but terribly executed with annoying vocals and just weird instrumentation choices. 19-2000 was def the main highlight of this album, but again; remove the vocals, and pop it into a video game (i'm thinking a gas station theme for a game like Simpsons: Hit and Run but yea). Shame cause it's the sorta music I would describe as I would fancy but it fails the mark so much.

Achtung Baby by U2
Oct 07 2025

Sorta rock music ur dad plays in the CD rack on the car radio and you mindlessly don’t pay attention to whilst staring out the window to the pretty scenery outside. It’s not actually bad rock but you get the point.

Oct 08 2025

When I think of Eminem all I think about is that millennials are so offended when someone doesn't think of him as like the king of rap lmao. He's like alright, his vocals are better then the beats he's rapping over, it's kinda sad how lamish the beats are at times... though it's def a good album, def a bit too long for just hearing Eminem's voice but it had The Real Slim Shady on it so really does my opinion matter?

Purple Rain by Prince
Oct 09 2025

easily the best prince album. has a good blend of poppy stuff, funky stuff, rocky stuff, and stuff just makes you want to disassociate from life (in a good way). plus who doesn't like purple rain the song? easily deserves it's praises even with a few half misses on the album.

Superfuzz Bigmuff by Mudhoney
Oct 10 2025

this is the new meaning of grunge to me, get outta here soundgarden and nirvana. i feel like the genre kinda needed more energy and more intensity so it's crazy that it's gone the OTHER way. i do prefer soundgarden over this tho.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Oct 11 2025

I had to sit on this review for a few days to really get my thoughts in on this album. It’s brilliant shoegaze, a genre which I personally have fallen in love with over the last few years, and especially this year when I listened to Loveless as the first album of my year. This doesn’t hit to the same highs as loveless, but the overall quality of the album easily makes it something I’ve already returned too. It’s more pop oriented rather then the average Shoegaze album, but it helps it rather then diminishes it. Plus the vocals being kinda washy and not that audible is actually amazing, an audio representation of how I listen to vocals in music.

Green by R.E.M.
Oct 12 2025

good alt rock... i don't like his singing at all. it's def like the most "not my cup of coffee" stuff i've heard in a long time but again it's a very strong album so yea.

Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo
Oct 13 2025

one of those filler albums i hope in the reissue that it got replaced with - like this isn't a bad album by any merit, but it's just a standard rock album.

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Oct 14 2025

This is def a highlight of the 60’s for me, great vocals paired with a wide and vast instrumentation but brings it all together very smoothly. The hit song is def the weakest off of the album.

Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Oct 15 2025

Vibes after vibes - it’s a good combo of blues and cool world type beats. Sad to hear it’s his last album - has so much passion in it.

Oedipus Schmoedipus by Barry Adamson
Oct 16 2025

Surprised that I liked this as much as I did, nothing groundbreaking as an album but I def loved the vibe of the album and the drums were awesome. Pretty mystical.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Oct 17 2025

This album is just beautiful. The one thing I just love about kate bush is it just sounds... always so interesting, she'll just take any and every reference of music she finds across the globe and fuse them together. Also running up that hill has been kinda saved on me, i'm sure i'd hate to listen to this if this was in 2022 haha.

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Oct 18 2025

started off me being like a "oh this is an album they've put on here because it's got one good hit". well, one, it's got two hits on it, and two, the backhalf of the album has some pretty dang good hip hop bits that make it into a pretty nice listen

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Oct 19 2025

The better of the two nick cave albums - the piano in it is very Niceu, nice music to listen to whilst stressing out on a bus cause it’s heavily delayed

Oct 20 2025

Not a bad monday to listen this to, was a decently good rockish album to vibe to whilst going to work. nothing special but not all music needs to be to be a vibe

Oct 21 2025

What a genius. Incredible motif which is just brilliantly used and abused over the 39min run. Very funny cause I’m transcribing one of his songs at the moment so this is perfect timing for his vibe.

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Oct 22 2025

Was talking about the best soundtrack album yesterday, and apparently NOW this pops up… what crazy timing. Great vibes through its 36min run, so funky and fresh it shows the peak of 70’s music me thinks

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Oct 23 2025

A very middle of the road but nice singer songwriter album. Songs that are nice on a first listen but I doubt id ever properly enjoy again

Rings Around The World by Super Furry Animals
Oct 24 2025

A real mixed bag between the bangers on the album and just alright songs. You've got some brilliant string sections in some songs, and overall amazing instrumentation with some of the most bland vocals i've heard. some misses some hits lmaoo

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Oct 25 2025

shocked to hear that this isn't a motown album - it's got the vibes and everything (she prob did take it from black artists in retrospect). such a nice album to listen nevertheless, a bit of everything from the 60's

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Oct 26 2025

35mins of peak studying jazz music to listen to whilst you have to lock in because the deadline of your assignment is in a few hours...

Oct 27 2025

pretty cool to listen to new wave before it realllly blew up in the 80's. def an important album for the genre but since it's half a formative album it lacks that substance of it that the greats that followed it. good album tho!!!!

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Oct 28 2025

I was slightly disappointed by this - I guess I’m used to their 70’s stuff and was expecting more OOMF in their works - not to say it wasn’t bad at all - they had hits esp in the 2nd half that kinda redeemed the album.

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers
Oct 29 2025

really has this "oh we have this diy not polished punk sound" that my ears and soul doesn't like. isn't terrible but i'd be glad not to hear this again. the closest is really see through tho

Oct 30 2025

Started off a little rough but then I realised it was an electronica album and that’s kinda half the point of it so I switched my mindset and by the end I was enjoying it a bit :) . Would be THE definition of the genre lmao

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Oct 31 2025

If ur going into any album and thinking it’s gonna be the worst album you’ve ever heard - well, anything excites you. I hate 60’s psych rock and I hate country music, so seeing this album was like a “oh. No.”. Surprised that they kinda complimented each other? Def a weaker album on the list for sure and it doesn’t help that it wasn’t on streaming so dealing with the pains on YouTube didnt help at ALL. A 4/10 can be awesome when u didnt think it could be that good

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Nov 01 2025

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL JAZZ ALBUM. this is like perfect background music, everything is just tasteful, all the songs just work and are so cohesive, and i love the moments where the band goes into just talk and chatter. really made me feel right at home

Violator by Depeche Mode
Nov 02 2025

Very strong album instrumentally, I am such a sucker for synth heavy albums - which makes sense for a new wave album haha. I’m not too much of a fan of the vocal delivery but that’s a personal thing, it works

Melodrama by Lorde
Nov 03 2025

It’s a beautiful electronic pop album with just great vocals. Lorde undoubtedly deserves the attention she has received. Plus green light is just so iconic.

Nov 04 2025

what a beautiful bluesy big band type album. Charles' voice is just... immaculate, and the songs with the huge string sections too just make my heart feel so fuzzy inside. A LITTLE too long tho, the same vibes for 75 mins sometimes rocks but if there was maybe 2-3 songs less this might be one of the greatest albums i've heard on here.

Next by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Nov 05 2025

this is an album that made me laugh and that's NEVER a good thing if i want to think this album deserves to be on the list. It's not all bad but it's just super quirky.

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
Nov 06 2025

new wave album that ain't bad nor is it that particularly special. the voice are pretty good :)

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Nov 07 2025

An album that I wanted it to be finished on like the 2nd track and then it dragged on for another 50. Not my vibe at all but not abysmally bad

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Nov 08 2025

i've gotten so much punk on this list that this album whilst having great quality for the genre fills a little stale, but it be vibing at times. plus a bowie album always gets points from me

Nov 09 2025

Holy snoozefest, there’s maybe 2 good tracks over this 20 song run. It’s probably influential… somehow… so I kinda see why on the list this would be there.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Nov 10 2025

Her vocals are the best part of this album, it really is the foundations to what she did become. A little bit disappointed that there wasn’t any special songs on here but the vibes are great

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Nov 11 2025

I didn’t think they’d be a longer album on this list than 69 love songs, but I guess I’m wrong haha. 6 CD’s worth of beautiful singing and standards from Ella, which sunk into the background quite nicely for myself. Due to its length it really started to drag on the 5th CD, but for what that’s worth it’s insane it took 2 hours for me to feel a bit fatigued.

Nov 13 2025

One of those instrumental albums that just fall into the background??? Theres pockets of interest and those moments are sick but overall it’s nothing to write home about.

Nov 14 2025

Hi I’m a band in the 60’s and we’re gonna be so quirky to name ourselves “The (blank)” because wee LOVEEEE the Beatles but Theres a hole in the market because those “losers” have made more experimental music so we’re gonna make the same slop as they did just… 5 years later. I don’t really like this type of music it’s just at least with the Beatles that they are special cause they created this vibe, and these guys didnt.

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Nov 15 2025

I saw talking heads and thought “oh yeah this’ll be a good album - I know a few of their hits” and this just kinda disappointed me cause theres just nothing of substance to this album - maybe I’m just looking into it wrong tho.

Nov 16 2025

What a generational album. Crazy that this is just straight vibes throughout the hour run, it def sat a great groundwork for everything that came after in the hip hop scene. I don’t agree with a lot of lyricism in, made me a lil like… oh. Great album nevertheless

Only By The Night by Kings of Leon
Nov 17 2025

Sure. Why not have this album on the list. It’s actually insane to me how popular this band is, but I guess everyone yearns for that late 2000’s rock lmao. It’s really inoffensive, there’s nothing bad to this album at all.

Play by Moby
Nov 18 2025

A beautiful dance / electronic album. Has a little rocky start but as soon as Porcelain hits. Wow. Spectacular stuff. Sampling is nice and very tastefully used with great synths and strings. What isn’t there to like?

Dog Man Star by Suede
Nov 19 2025

it's a good rock band which has a solid list of tracks that are neat if i got stuck in a car with but not anywhere else. sometimes i feel like there's too many of these "forgettable but good" rock albums on the list, which kinda sucks for it being a list about tryna be dirverse.

Seventh Tree by Goldfrapp
Nov 20 2025

This might be one of the best albums I’ve never heard of from the list. Beautiful and dreamy electronica pop and it’s such a vibe with the Cocteau Twins style vocals :)

You're Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr.
Nov 21 2025

It’s opening to the local band you kinda wanna see but half was dragged by a friend core. I’m sure for the 80’s this must of been innovative but this sounds just what I hear everywhere, which makes this album feel boring and flat

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Nov 22 2025

This album is special to me. I remember as a tween always grabbing this cd from my dads cd collection and listening to it, but one day I just… forgot it was in the CD player and then we took it out to the tip… my father was not happy but years later I paid for a copy of this CD and we all were happy. Nevertheless, what a classic record, 80’s hip hop can never get old for me esp if it’s this album.

Olympia 64 by Jacques Brel
Nov 23 2025

it's a nothing burger album but it's in french so that gives it some points !!!

Movies by Holger Czukay
Nov 24 2025

a very good experimental album with a good level of interest to it. one of the last things i'd ever return to be it's always good to challenge ur earbuds

The Bends by Radiohead
Nov 25 2025

i think i'm slowly understanding why two of my closest friends REALLY enjoy radiohead, it's very good alt rock being so retrospective and like... IT HAS JUST ON it which is such a banger

Nov 26 2025

Such a hit or miss album, I’m kinda sad cause I guess I’m used to the 80’s Chicago stuff so this stuff at points made me sad… but the good stuff on the album are very tasteful. No 7 min guitar solo plz

American Idiot by Green Day
Nov 27 2025

a very consistently good album, the hits are very iconic and a bit of vibes, great theming too. it's hard to justify why it doesn't personally ring with me as much as it should, with how much quality is here

Southern Rock Opera by Drive-By Truckers
Nov 28 2025

i'm an australian i'm legit the further away in the world from these problems LMAOOOOO. it wasn't terrible music it just was bland, but had some cool moments. wish it wasn't 90mins either

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Nov 29 2025

What a beautiful singer songwriter album. This is what I think all of the genre should be haha. Too bad I wasted it whilst supermarket shopping, it deserves better then that

The Man Who by Travis
Nov 30 2025

This is a rock album… yeah it had some great moments throughout it but none of it is anything rememberable ? Nothing bad tho

Locust Abortion Technician by Butthole Surfers
Dec 01 2025

I felt violated listening to this album. Like at points this album physically made me feel uncomfortable. It’s so sad because so many of the songs have great hooks to them, it’s like they had great ideas and were like “how do we make this into the worst thing you’ve ever heard”. I can justify a lot of noise… like hell I gave DOA Throbbing Gristle a 3/5. I can’t justify this. This shoulda stayed in the studio as a drunkmen’s idea for laughs and giggles.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Dec 02 2025

I’m a little… disappointed from this album. I guess I’ve never been too into the Rolling Stones / the sorta genre of the time, and this is nothing special from it. Theres more from aftermath which was given earlier in the list for me, this just felt like Rolling Stones filler album

Ogden's Nut Gone Flake by Small Faces
Dec 03 2025

Such a mixed bag album. There's points where's there a good run of tracks and one is vibing hard to the tracks, only to immediately have a string questionable boring tracks. I did enjoy the theming of the tracks though

Dec 04 2025

If I think there’s a single focal point of where my music taste came from originally - it probably is this album. Well, this album and Every Open Eye (which is arguably better than this album haha). I remember my dad first showing me this album the year this came out at the ripe old age of 10. It instantly captivated me, beautiful synth pop with such great vocals, which I kinda had a thing for British pop vocals at the time thinking back to it. Road trips would always have this record on rotation. So in a part, this reminds me of childhood too. The mother we share and Recover especially, it’s just… perfect. And then I wonder why Magdalena bay is my favourite band of all time haha, it all makes sense now. Thanks CHVRCHES

Dec 05 2025

It does sound interesting things for being from a rock artist but like if I’m not too fond of the Beatles and this is similar to them but 30 years later then yea…. Not the biggest fan

Disintegration by The Cure

i prefer the stuff off of kiss me kiss me kiss me and wish but this lowkey fire too, better then pornography. cool post punk / new wave stuff, doesn't get old in the 75min run one bit.

Don't Stand Me Down by Dexys Midnight Runners
Dec 07 2025

sometimes i'm listening to an album on the list with someone else and they say the most accurate thing ever and i'm like "i gotta steal this". so this album, kinda filler stuff, which is insane to be on the 1001, like this ain't meant to be here. my father's like "oh this sounds like an album which they were forced to make to be able to go on a tour" and i'm like... OMG YEAH THAT'S IT. there's the random good song on here but it's almost pointless.

OOOOOOOOOOOO I LOVE FUNKY ASS ALBUMS THIS IS JUST 35MINS OF JUST VIBES. if i had 1001 albums just like this i wouldn't complain

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Dec 10 2025

Just some bland rock from a guy who I ruled out with the first album I got of his on the list. Best part was when I walked past a construction site and I couldn’t hear the album

Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers
Dec 11 2025

I had an enjoyable time listening to this album - it’s got interesting blends of rock with uniqueness to it. I just cant for the life of me understand why there are so many albums like THIS on the list cause the list people are just big rock heads who are blind to any other genre I swear

The Stooges by The Stooges
Dec 12 2025

Boring 60’s rock. Don’t like Iggy pop so I def don’t like his earlier stuff. Also if one song is gonna be 10mins in a 36min album like what u doing…

Fragile by Yes
Dec 13 2025

This album is a bit better than a few of the last boring 60’s rock album that I’ve had on the list - but it’s not that special either. Just not a fan of the back ends of the longer songs - have a great hook then just overstay their welcome.

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Dec 14 2025

elton john is elton john to me... he sings... he plays da piano... he does his work and it sounds like good music. i bet this woulda played allll the damn time on radio lmao cause it's good safe music.

Darklands by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Dec 15 2025

Maybe I just have the wrong opinion on what “shoegaze” sounds like cause I didn’t really get that vibe too much from this album compared to MBV or Slowdive or Ride. I did like the use of drum machines on this album, added a nice contrast to it! Nothing fully grabbed me tho

The Next Day by David Bowie
Dec 16 2025

This is just a standard run of the mill David Bowie. I didn’t find it innovative nor did I particularly dislike any of it, it’s a fascinating experience.

Low-Life by New Order
Dec 17 2025

it's a very pretty album but that's really all the compliments i can give. instantly forgettable and i didn't like the vocals at all

First Band On The Moon by The Cardigans
Dec 18 2025

it's poppy, it's got great vocals, LOVE ME LOVE ME SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME. FOOL ME FOOL ME. GO ON AND FOOL ME. rest of the album is also vibes but def not to the lovefool tier.

Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab
Dec 19 2025

it's as much rock as it's not... it's def good in terms of being an interesting thing to listen to, but not fully enjoyable at the same time? i love the ideas tho

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Dec 20 2025

lovely hour long piano jazz album, very nice and relaxing to listen to. beautiful playing.

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Dec 21 2025

this had a nice folky vibe to it, good stuff from the 60's for sure. nothing too much to comment on it

Triangle by The Beau Brummels
Dec 22 2025

better then the average psych rock album but it's well... a psych rock album and i don't like those... there was like 3 good tracks on this tho.

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Dec 23 2025

yea this is just an album - if i thought "hmmm what is music", something like this would come up. which idk if that means it's good or if it means this album was bland enough for me to think it's stereotypical. ah, doesn't matter, i thought it had a good runtime for what it was so i can't hate it.

Lost Souls by Doves
Dec 24 2025

Hella frontloaded album - first few songs blew my mind but then afterwards it kinda turned into more average stuff - but still very cool nevertheless.

Dec 25 2025

My rating of this album is going to be a bit confusing compared to what my thoughts are on this. This album reeks to me of “oh so this new introspective electronica album came out at a time where the reviewers wouldn’t know the legacy of the album in the future. A bold stance “destroy rock & roll”, very likely a reference to the “destroy disco” moment that launched rock into the stratosphere in the late 70’s and early 80’s. And I’d argue, did rock and roll ever return to the grace that it had after 2004? Apart from a few explicit exceptions, I don’t think so. And that’s probably why the critics of this list decided to put it there - because they thought audiences might resonate with it the same way it did - and move into more electronic focused decade - which, again, I feel like that happened. But that’s maybe a bias I have from being into current electronic music haha. To the album itself. The electronic elements are nice, some songs really bring that 2000’s electronica feel to it really well. But some songs are just… cringe. Idk why electronic artists make these 7-9min songs where they’ve got these repetitive boring catchphrase, esp on the title track, naming just almost random artists from the 70’s and 80’s that most fit the bill of rock and roll, but… Stevie wonder? Wham? What????? Why we confusing soul and pop with rock and roll??? It’s confusing. This album didnt last in the general public conscious, even in the electronic sphere I had no clue of Mylo and all straws lead to Coldplay’s album. Something like Modjo’s self titled would fit 100x better on the list with a more coherent vibe to it. I guess the difference is this album samples rock classics as an anti-tribute to them??? I feel like the average bedroom producer makes better electronic music nowadays than this album, mostly cause the songs just GET to the point. Haha, imagine a dariacore album on here, now that genre samples similar to what Mylo did here.

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Dec 27 2025

Take me out was very fun, the rest of the album is just a blur to me… like it’s good indie rock but nothing else stood out, wasn’t anything bad tho.

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields
Dec 28 2025

"haha let's make a 69 song album cause that's FUNNY" "THAT'S FUNNY" why did the critcs think this was acceptable to be on the list??? whilst this isn't the longest one, it FEELS like the longest album on the list. there's a few... good tracks but again if ur making 69 tracks and there's not a single good one on there, you are doing SOMETHING wrong. good on me for one sitting this album at the first possible moment I could one sit this album...

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Dec 29 2025

This probably woulda been the prog rock album that I would have been like “I don’t like prog rock but this is the oddity”. For the first 36mins, yea that was true. The original of the L’s theme from Death note was like a “woah” moment, really lived to make me kinda enjoy the first piece. I saw a comment that was this sounds like Final Fantasy music, and yeah, it so does. 36mins tho, it turns from great to instantly uncomfortable with the grunt screaming. I don’t like this. If I’m prepared for it, I don’t mind it, but it’s 30mins of beauty then 8 minutes of just pure uncomfort. Completely ruins the flow of the album.

The Doors by The Doors
Dec 30 2025

It took me 2.5 months and a relisten of this album to get my full thoughts on this. This is without a doubt the best PyschRock album i've ever heard, i don't like the genre so this was a lil treat. also my mum's fav album. I do find that Light My Fire is significantly better then the rest of the album, if it was to THAT quality for all of it i'd probably rate it higher haha.

Rapture by Anita Baker
Dec 31 2025

i will always have such a sweet spot for 80's soul... beautiful voice and great synths. two elements that make anything peak (don't quote me on this)

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Jan 01 2026

i feel like this is a weird genre fuse between country, blues, and singer songwriter stuff with some rockish elements. there isn't anything to be like... oh this sucked. but i honestly feel like she has a BETTER album then this and the list should check that instead.

The Undertones by The Undertones
Jan 02 2026

Just another one of those list albums that is like “yeah it’s rocky and sounds like 30 other bands on the list and had this one good track on it that justifies its inclusion on here but man I will forget this album in a week” Really nothing else to comment on it

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Jan 03 2026

This just reminds me of high school concert band. One of my favourite songs we ever played was Splanky, such an explosive song to do, and whilst I didn’t play the lead trumpet part (I prefer 2nd cause I got to solo over everything), it’s something I always go back to. The rest of the album is just gorgeous, sweet trumpet melodies with lovely woodwinds and just sweet keys. I could listen to this music for my whole life and be just fine.

Country Life by Roxy Music
Jan 04 2026

was expecting female vocals smh clickbait existed back in the 1970s. they did have some tunes on here, esp going out of their way not to be every rock band and add some more instrumentation in a nice way, prob eno pushed it into their heads before he left haha.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Jan 05 2026

Rock opera is a nice way to describe this album... like that's the definition of it. cool rock melodics with awesome pianos and great vibes.

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Jan 06 2026

what an awesome new wave pop album. it's just solid track after solid track. the two hits are baller and all the other tracks as well are just tasty synthy goodness.

Faith by George Michael
Jan 07 2026

i have a twin obsessed with George Michael so it's cool to hear an album by him ! very very important album for a community which needed it at the time, and it's just beautiful rnb infused pop album. i wish kissing a fool had A. a sax solo and B. was the last track on the album, cause it really deserves to have it all. shoutout wham

Jan 08 2026

was on a road trip with a genesis fan when this album pop up and the light on his eyes when he got to listen to his fav Genesis album is something i'll won't forget. phil collins cooked on the drums and Gabriel sung well, cool moments but Prog is just not my genre as much as people say that it should be haha

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jan 09 2026

i feel like to me this is one of those "VERY" innovative rock albums from the early 70's that i should get but i don't cause everything else sounds like it from the time. i did like the bits where it went out of the norm and had bits of sax and stuff in it haha

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Jan 10 2026

this album falls off a cliff after the first half, which i was like "ooooh this is some good 80's synth stuff" and then it just gets into that ambient experimental stuff and like sure that's cool for some people but that's not the vibe i wanted esp from the first half.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Jan 11 2026

I'm just not into whatever leonard cohen makes... it's good sure but it's just boring and got bored half way thorugh

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jan 12 2026

so like... this is what every single pop girly from the late 2000's and 2010's was ripping off, and it DEF deserves all the accolades, with the lovely jazzy stuff to it and just the brilliant vocals, such a cool album for sure

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Jan 13 2026

This is the sort of stuff i like to hear on the list - just something different. it's got lovely vocal melodies with nice folky instrumentation. though some of the songs are just a littleist of bland for my liking

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Jan 14 2026

The vibe I get from this album is like “what if a band was made up on electronica musicians who just love to make their uni professors proud by using new instrumentation in synths and vocal effects live”. It’s good but it feels like what rock guys would like in an electronic album, which as an electronic fan I often find to be kinda lame at times.

Immigrés by Youssou N'Dour
Jan 15 2026

this was pretty damn awesome world music, got little elements of like everything and it's only problem is that it ended too soon

I Against I by Bad Brains
Jan 16 2026

One of the most interesting albums I’ve heard on the list - early punk mixed with hard rock but has a bunch of not rock influence in it. It’s not to my taste one bit but the quality is there.

Jan 17 2026

muse is the sorta band that i was really happy to see on the list when it generated yesterday. often i'm disappointed in what the list generated post 2004, especially the albums within the 2000's because it often feels like albums that they think MIGHT get relevance in the future but most of the time they are unknown, but they've hit the head on it this time. it's just lovely rock, def has radiohead influence but that's quite cool

Sheet Music by 10cc
Jan 18 2026

really nothingburger rock which ironically tries to do a lot but doesn't??? i didn't see the appeal of the band either

All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah
Jan 19 2026

I quite liked this early hip hop album, it just has charm that you can really get from hip hop of the time. Backing beats are pretty cool too. I did find it a lil repetitive towards the end however

Jan 20 2026

The flow the rhythm the sampling just DAMMMNNNN what a great collection of what hip hop was in the 90’s. Insane that this album of theirs is their debut, honestly just kudos to them omg

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
Jan 21 2026

this is the most average middle of the road funkish rock album i've heard but i didn't not like it so yea.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Jan 22 2026

Funk funk funk funk funk we love funk in this household it’s a classic

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
Jan 23 2026

This album is just 75mins just… pure soundtrack funk disco groove goodness. Isaac Hayes you just know how to make a saucey ass album damnn

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Jan 24 2026

oh my god what a great album. i've only listened to When the Pawn so I wondered why THAT wasn't on the list. But after listening to this, i get it. if there was only 1 slot for Fiona, Tidal deserved it. It's just beautiful. her voice, the instrumentation just invites a flood of emotions, which was perfect for the train home on a friday night LMAOOO. Shadowboxer a generational song.

No Other by Gene Clark
Jan 25 2026

really kinda boring country... got nothing outta listening to this. i love the direction of the album cover tho!!!

Machine Gun Etiquette by The Damned
Jan 26 2026

The first track I was thinking “oh this album is gonna bore me” so I’m glad it got more interesting throughout it. Not bad punk

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Jan 27 2026

yea thought this was as solid as an album as it is... it's just actually half decent rock (which is a compliment in my books) cause it's just got so much going on and more then normal.

Jan 28 2026

Jamiroquai... oh my god. Look, i've known them for years at the points, i've listened to Traveling Without Moving and thought "wow what a great album", but WHY DID I MOVE ON FROM THEM??????? this is a phenomenal record, just lovely polished 90's acid jazz with just the energy needed to just... live life high. Too Young to Die is just a crazy song. Yeah I totally get the Stevie Wonder comparisons, but honestly, that just makes it better, he's transformed Stevie's song in such a dynamic and just GREAT way. masterclass of an album.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Jan 29 2026

The funk and soul elements on this album are mmmmmmm so tasty, but it has absolute MISSES on the album too. Fascinating product from the 70’s it’s a cool album.

Horses by Patti Smith
Jan 30 2026

I did like how well defined the album felt whilst being experimental (wow almost what art rock kinda is). Didnt speak to me tho

Boston by Boston
Jan 31 2026

I mean this just be good solid ass rock, I know everyone else in my family would appreciate this more then me as someone who too isn’t into rock but yea.

Rattus Norvegicus by The Stranglers
Feb 01 2026

Lil quirky story whilst I was listening to this album. I was holding a cup of water in panic to not drop it whilst being on a bus. I needed to focus hard on it. This album wasn’t bad enough for me to be annoyed whilst doing but not good enough for me to be distracted on my main goal.

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Feb 02 2026

Just a beautiful sung jazz / mid century pop album from the 50's, with a lovely Orchestra to back it. i could just listen this to this all day and not get bored haha

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Feb 03 2026

This album dragged on the 5th track. Completely forgettable album too. Country rock just not my thing haha

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto
Feb 04 2026

This is probably the highest 3 I can ever give an album. It’s just lovely bossa nova with lovely charm to it. Nice vocals too. I don’t think it pushes the needle too much however.

Moving Pictures by Rush
Feb 05 2026

I’m not a prog rock fan and it really shows that I don’t like the album. YZZ was the highlight cause my guitar friends like that stuff but yeah not for me.

Life Thru A Lens by Robbie Williams
Feb 06 2026

Some GREAT tracks and a few like “oh sure”. British pop rock is a vibe sometimes haha, got a little too long back sided.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Feb 07 2026

this album coulda been half decent if he made it like half as long and just cut most of the stuff. it's just boring with interesting points sprinkled few and few apart.

Feb 08 2026

I wish I could like this album as much as I probably do. Like an art rock shoegaze album should kinda be the sorta thing I’d LOVE, but this sadly doesn’t hit the spot fully. I enjoyed listening to this, but nothing more then surface level stuff interest. Feels like every song has like ONE element from being great.

The White Album by Beatles
Feb 09 2026

This album i'm pretty sure is my favourite Beatle's album. it's got the least amount of "bad" tracks on it, having a 26 run of like "alright" and a few goodish songs. i see the beatles like concrete to a house... you need the beatles but i'm sure as hell not looking at the concrete and being like "OMG THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER".

Abraxas by Santana
Feb 10 2026

This Santana album ain’t bad at all, it’s got cool use of Latin influences sprinkled into it and the rock elements are pretty atypical for this list.

Miriam Makeba by Miriam Makeba
Feb 11 2026

I liked this south African take on jazz / blues album, whilst also having it's own influences and speaking in her native tongue on a few songs. what i didn't like however, was I experienced a lot of issues with phase? really detracted my experience of it.

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Feb 12 2026

if i based this purely on the sound, probably a 3/5, but Kraftwerk really pushed what electronic music that i listen to like EVERY DAY sounds like today. always good to hear the roots.

Feb 13 2026

this album is just PURE new wave goodness. yeah it's goat THAT good song in it, ripped straight off the bat, but the rest is also pretty fire. a-ha deserved not to be a one hit wonder me thinks.

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Feb 14 2026

I think I’d say this is my 3rd favourite Radiohead album. Really shows Radiohead in a new light fully into the more modern digital era with the backing production whilst still feeling completely like them.

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Feb 15 2026

a collection of a few good tracks and a lot of STINKERS. crazy how such a well respected album like this is so hit or miss.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Feb 16 2026

yeah there was some cool grunge and stuff but where's the sauce of people smashing pumpkins like 0/10 let's be real

C'est Chic by CHIC
Feb 17 2026

Chic is just super tasty funk wow. Rodger’s on the guitar esp has his magic. I don’t think there’s a single bad track on this run

Our Aim Is To Satisfy by Red Snapper
Feb 18 2026

i have found throughout this list that i do quite enjoy trip hop??? (i say as i push aside gorillaz). this was a pleasant and quite head bopping album to listen to in the car

The Visitors by ABBA
Feb 19 2026

I quite like ABBA and their whole vibe but i felt like this album skipped for the most (slipping through my fingers the exception) all the absolute bangers that ABBA has. Good album for sure but I kinda understand why every grandparent has the greatest hits ABBA in their glovebox cause that prob would be a 5

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Feb 20 2026

pretty cool rapping with great flow and cool use of sampling, pretty atypical of the genre (well i've only heard the greats thanks to the list so there's a lot of standards here)

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Feb 21 2026

this is so arthur morgan core. didn't really find much interesting about this though.

A Short Album About Love by The Divine Comedy
Feb 22 2026

i didn't get anything out of listening to this album. why is this on the list? who knows. can't say the music was terrible though, it was meant to play at the background in cafe shops.

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Feb 23 2026

This is one of those “one hit” and the rest is worse but it was an enjoyable experience. Whole album reminded me of the song “maps” and then I was like “OH THAT IS THEM!!!” funny moment and great cover haha

Feb 24 2026

A really nothing burger physc rock album. Never really been a fan of the band so I’m not surprised. That moog song sucked super ass tho

Third by Soft Machine
Feb 25 2026

What I liked: there was a lot of cool jazz moments in this !!! What I didn’t like: everything else holy crap what a bad prog album. I love a bit of experimental stuff but this ain’t it chief

Meat Puppets II by Meat Puppets
Feb 26 2026

If it stayed as painfully average as it did for the first 60% maybe I’d have a half decent review but the falloff at the back end makes me even wonder why it’s on here

Djam Leelii by Baaba Maal
Feb 27 2026

Cool world album that made my normal commute to work feel quite a bit more special and more like a journey to somewhere interesting

Trio by Dolly Parton
Feb 28 2026

Dolly Parton has a great voice !!! And for a country album I’d reckon this is one of the best for the genre, the instrumentation and vibes are right !

Mar 02 2026

I might have to pay a grand for the amount of therapy I need after listening to this… album. I genuinely cannot fathom how this got on the list. If the beats are sampled, I feel sympathy to the original artists for their track being run into the mud for this. If they made these beats, I’d have to imagine their producer is a 5 year old making beats on GarageBand for the first time with how uninspiring and yucky the beats are. Bro can’t flow bro can’t rap the lyricism almost gets the album to comedic funny because of how bloody horseshit they are. I felt like IShowSpeed on that one iconic Fortnite gif the entire time, tryna not to laugh at it BECAUSE I LISTENED TO THIS AT WORK HELPPPPPPP. How tf 1.6 million people listening to this guy every month

Arrival by ABBA
Mar 03 2026

A week ago I got the other ABBA album on the list and wow. This one has the HITS. It’s good to hear ABBA in their prime, esp when most of my favs are in in this album.

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
Mar 04 2026

prob one of the most awesome albums i'll never bother to listen to again. it's good kinda on the verge of experimental electronic 90's core rock whatever the hell else this is. it is a bit too rough at times.

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Mar 05 2026

pretty fun and an iconic 80's pop album. she's got a cool as hell voice and the instrumentation SCREAM 80's in a nice way.

Protection by Massive Attack
Mar 06 2026

The more I listen to trip hop on the list the more I enjoy it - this has so many great features on it with great vibes too it’s not as good as their other album on the list but it works mmm

I do not get bob Dylan anymore, and if I do, it’s def not this album. There are a few and far between tracks which aren’t too bad but this album slogs through for the bulk majority of the run of the album. Dylan is talented yeah I can see that. I also don’t like his voice at all in this live album. I listened to this at work and I’d of preferred to listen to the crappy instore radio they have

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Mar 08 2026

Look I did kinda like this album but I’m just so so so so confused about why this 2017 album from this “nobody” is included that doesn’t REALLY push much grounds and feels like a reviewer knows this artist and wanted them to be on there.

Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye
Mar 09 2026

i quite like marvin gaye but this album kinda didn't match my expectations. i liked the back half of the album a bit but this ain't no What's Going On or Let's Get It On.

D by White Denim
Mar 10 2026

if i wanted to listen to an 2010 indie psych alt rock album i'd put on Innerspeaker by Tame Impala not this. Why is this on the list and that isn't? Maybe cause White Denim is American and Kevin is Australian???? I can't take this list seriously sometimes. Album wasn't bad tho.

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Mar 11 2026

I’m kinda surprised an album which sounds almost exactly the same as other hip hop entries 10 years prior but a lil more cleaner entered this list. Like I liked it I just didn’t get anything outta it tho.

The Libertines by The Libertines
Mar 12 2026

I can’t place my finger on why I didn’t at least enjoy this album, it’s got nice production and fills a nice position on the list.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Mar 13 2026

i cant believe in this 2 hour huge album they were like "yeah let's put the hit 2/5 of the way down the 2nd half of the album that's what were gonna do". which sure, prob for the best as this album does drag (obv the length ain't helping) so yeah. if it was 20mins shorter i might of rated it higher.

Mar 14 2026

It really makes sense how pink Floyd ended up making some incredible albums after listening to this early in their run album. It’s so totally not my thing at all but you can really tell this band had something special going on.

Mar 15 2026

This album was pretty damn terrible until like the final two tracks and then it was like “damn alrighttttt here’s the sauce”. I don’t think a two song run 70mins into an album can save it, ad the rest is pretty mediocre 90’s hip hop but whatever. I’ve heard better stuff from nearly everyone on this album.

Fun House by The Stooges
Mar 16 2026

The only compliment imma give to the stooges is a tweet I saw where the OP was like “the stooges were the OG geese” and yea I kinda see that even though I don’t like this but I enjoy Geese haha

White Ladder by David Gray
Mar 17 2026

I saw the album cover and was praying it was some kind of trip hop / electronica album and I was happy before releasing it’s kinda ? Singer songwriter pop rock sorta whatever thing this album is. Theres not too much to critique however so take that at its will.

Mar 18 2026

This is the 2nd album in the last week where the album has been such a slug but the last 2 tracks have made me doubt my thoughts on the album and wow. I do think the last 2 tracks saved the album from a bad review, esp since so much of it is just the same Celtic sort music (which I do get is what the genre is haha)

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
Mar 19 2026

Look, you add a breakbeat to anything and it makes it sound instantly better, it’s just the rules. Just such an awesome album, exactly what I love from the 90’s. We didn’t need that misogyny tho.

The Hour Of Bewilderbeast by Badly Drawn Boy
Mar 20 2026

First album in a long time on this list to make me be pleasantly surprised by it. I always love albums that push stuff instrumentally, the start of the album having a euphonium was like a “woah finally I needed this” moment. Reminded me of the good Nick Drake album, Bryter Layter.

Dear Science by TV On The Radio
Mar 21 2026

This is just 2000’s indie rock and like yea it’s good it’s just that. I’m sure twenty one pilots heavily like this band.

War by U2
Mar 22 2026

probably the best of what U2 has got, this rock album actually had some level of interest and like tasteful instrumental and choral stuff wow

Searching For The Young Soul Rebels by Dexys Midnight Runners
Mar 23 2026

I love brass and this has a lot of it but it just feels like they’ve replaced the guitar with brass and called it a day. Woulda loved for them to push the envelope a bit more

Yeezus by Kanye West
Mar 24 2026

To everyone in this list who’s skipping this album cause it’s Kanye, I’ll say this: can you really say you’ve finished the list if you’ve really not listened to all the albums. Pirate it, do whatever you can to not support this Nazi, but I think there is a reason to listen to this. This has got some great use of sampling and there’s a reason people call him the goat, his flow is just so mmmmmmmm. I don’t agree with a bunch of the lyricism but like how can we be surprised when it’s Kanye making the album.

Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Mar 25 2026

Honestly surprised at the amount of hits on this album. Bon Jovi really put in the A game for this album. Would rate higher but I still have trauma from these songs doing them in a high school production of Rock Of Ages

Homework by Daft Punk
Mar 26 2026

70% of music I love and adore would not and could not exist without this masterpiece of an album.

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Mar 27 2026

i didn't care for this album. look, i'm not into that much singer songwriter stuff, and this just reminds me of the stuff made 20 years earlier with a 90's rock twist, but like... that doesn't help

Tapestry by Carole King
Mar 28 2026

This is peak singer songwriting on god she knows how to craft a beautiful album

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Mar 29 2026

cool grunge, i accidently listened to this album like 6 months ago so that's a vibe LMAO.

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
Mar 30 2026

This album is the sorta album I listen to an expect there'll be a hit to make it make sense that it's a one hit wonder album. to my surprise, there wasn't a hit on here. i question why it's on the list. but i did enjoy it!

Back In Black by AC/DC
Mar 31 2026

very fundamental and important rock / metal album, even though it kinda doesn't feel like that for the first half (the 2nd half really shows it's value haha). i can't believe that these vocals are these vocals sobbing

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Apr 01 2026

i get why this album exists and why it's so important for bruce springsteen to have made this but man reheating bob dylan's nachoes does NOT do it for me i don't even like bob dylan in the first place

xx by The xx
Apr 02 2026

Pretty much was what artists were gonna sound like in that scene for the next few years but it’s not like it’s particularly special

Butterfly by Mariah Carey
Apr 03 2026

Man Mariah has a VOICE, undoubtedly the best part of this album. This is very nice sounding but nothing too innovative, some good tracks but a bit of filler as well

Apr 04 2026

Arctic monkeys are a group where everyone loves them but I barely hear in a convo when talking about music. But like wow they def deserve being here, all hits, and it helps im hyperfixated on a game rn which has similar music to it (shoutout UNBEATABLE)

Armed Forces by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Apr 05 2026

Oi white boy you can’t be saying that

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Apr 06 2026

this one's alright, i mean it just sounds like music to me.

The White Room by The KLF
Apr 07 2026

this is pretty damn cool - 90's electronic is so easy for me to just vibe with. pretty early for it's kind too - coulda believed this woulda been made like 5 years later with it's production and style

Kenza by Khaled
Apr 08 2026

anything with a sitar is just MMMMMMMMM so good even tho he only used it on a few tracks. very very mixed but SO MUCH FUN what a vibe

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Apr 09 2026

My dad hypes up supertramp occasionally, finally good to hear an album of theirs. It was good but it’s just 70’s rock

Forever Changes by Love
Apr 10 2026

Very much a mixed bag album, some great songs with nice instrumentations but just as many songs that I’m just bored. My fav part tho is that my fav band Magdalena Bay interpolated The Red Telephone, cool touch.

Celebrity Skin by Hole
Apr 11 2026

i think i much preferred Live Through This, but this is still such a solid 90's grunge rock album, i def love majority women bands.

Infected by The The
Apr 12 2026

best part is the name, the the is VERY funny. though can't say much about the music, idk, it's very nothingburger

Apr 13 2026

What am I meant to learn from this… I don’t know… I could go to the tote and hear music more better then this.

Happy Sad by Tim Buckley
Apr 14 2026

Best part was the so what interpolation, and then went to yeah just decent music. He’s def Jeff’s father

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Apr 15 2026

Enough of Neil Young he’s been on the list too much. Also reheating the Beatle’s nachos

Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson
Apr 16 2026

I really feel disappointed to anyone who has to listen to this album. This just sucks and takes all the ehhhh elements of metal and puts it with a guy who lowkey makes me uncomfortable.

Vivid by Living Colour
Apr 17 2026

A Heavy but very funky albums . and that’s cool to listen to once. I rate. Would be cool live . Bass tone is very mmmmmm tho

Hotel California by Eagles
Apr 18 2026

Eagles are super cool and i was like "yeah awesome we've got THIS album today like this is why i started this list to listen to THESE albums" but like Eagles are just not my thing, cool stuff but yeah. reminds me of when i did an eagles comp in high school concert band LMAOOO.

Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
Apr 19 2026

an okay album until it just completely shoot's it's foot at the final mile. it's alt rock.

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Apr 20 2026

this is the most unlistenable piece of hype moments and aura ever. this is so awesome though, def one of the coolest rock albums i've ever listened to. i wish i could listen to an album full of the vibe of the first track though. God damn i'd never listen to this again though.

Apr 21 2026

This album has the simultaneous issue of being too long whilst also being too short.

The Infotainment Scan by The Fall
Apr 22 2026

This album does not deserve to be on the list why is there 3 of them when there’s like 2 Fleetwood Mac albums lmao. There was a single good track but not THAT good to remember the name

The Score by Fugees
Apr 23 2026

This is cool 90’s hip hop but if u gotta compare this with Nas and a Tribe Called Quest it’s like two whole different worlds

Dirty by Sonic Youth
Apr 24 2026

Almost abhorrent there just was a few good moments to justify this not being one of the worst albums I’ve listened to this list.

Solid Air by John Martyn
Apr 25 2026

The guitar playing was kinda good but everything else is a bit on the lamer side

Kala by M.I.A.
Apr 26 2026

this really sounds like one the key origin points of CharliXCX when making her style. though saying that, great use of electronics in this album, and having the hit paper planes is always a good thing

Live! by Fela Kuti
Apr 27 2026

This album feels like the messiah cause the list has been giving me bad albums for the last few weeks and this is a bit funky and groovy with great afrobeat stuff in it !!!

Sulk by The Associates
Apr 28 2026

If the vocals weren’t that bad I might think it’s a better album then what it is.

Paris 1919 by John Cale
Apr 29 2026

I guess it’s alright cause of the length of it - infinity forgettable pop rock music though

Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
Apr 30 2026

It’s French which is cool but the essence of it being an early 70’s pysch rock album really drags this down for me

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
May 01 2026

Motörhead makes some decently good metal, I mean it’s not my thing but it’s not too heavy haha (def was for the time)

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
May 02 2026

I can’t knock this album for being one of the worst albums on this list, like, I totally get it and understand WHY it’s so badly rated compared to everything else. There is merit to be found on this album - it’s not completely unlistenable but it’s not something for headphones - I listened to the bulk of it on stereos and that’s kinda the vibe and the musicality bouncing across the room with it. Never listening to it again tho

Eternally Yours by The Saints
May 03 2026

Just how much boring punk rock are they gonna add on this list? Like sure if ur a fan of the genre it’ll be just another album you’ll like but I don’t think it’s got enough merit to be on the list.

yeah it really is experimental / free form jazz. it really starts off kinda jarring but u do kinda get use to it the more it goes on, it's something that i've personally never experienced before but i'm glad it's something i have. chaotic good.

Unhalfbricking by Fairport Convention
May 05 2026

It’s folk it’s rock it’s an album it sounds nice :). Wouldn’t mind this being played at an antique shop

May 06 2026

Oh man this album is miserable - not good guitar playing, vocals are lame, it just feels like sludge cause it doesn’t even feel like it’s got value to it. I feel kinda disappointed by the list the last few weeks cause it’s just all this sorta lame not inspiring or developmental stuff. It being live doesn’t help its case at all, I didn’t really feel much energy from the crowd.

Vulnicura by Björk
May 07 2026

Björk is a brilliant artist. She makes just what she wants to make so well… it’s got so much charm to it. It’s a bit of everything, whilst being a nice tie to her older albums. Not as good as her first few albums but this was a great listen.

Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton
May 08 2026

another one of these like half pointless live albums that i wonder why live albums are allowed on the list. at least this album has a hit on it so it wasn't all trash

Arise by Sepultura
May 09 2026

I mean this is very formate heavy metal this is what I’d properly define as “heavy metal” as stuff pre 1990’s isn’t really what is commonly defined as heavy metal TODAY lmao. It’s not anything too flashy but it’s cool

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
May 10 2026

I hate being white and falling into the stereotype of enjoying Beastie Boys, it’s just fun energetic hip hop with great flow and iconic beats to suit.

American Gothic by David Ackles
May 11 2026

this album is nice to listen to for the majority of the run but lacks any depth or real value to the purpose of this list. i didn't like the last track one bit.

Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie
May 12 2026

Does everything right but not as well as it could be. Loved the intensity from the drums and the overall funkiness, and the vocals were cool at times. Tho I can’t lie at times it gets very bland

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
May 13 2026

Man would this not be a great band if it wasn’t for the fact that Morrissey is singing it all.

1984 by Van Halen
May 14 2026

This is pretty cool rock, makes me wanna Jump! Very much a front loaded album however

May 15 2026

Whilst I disagree with this being the best album of all time Apple Music, it REALLY is a high quality hip hop album, it spills out all the good stuff that 90’s hip hop has, and writes a great narrative over it. U def cooked Hill

The Real Thing by Faith No More
May 16 2026

this rock metal album is good at best and painfully mediocre for the majority of the run of the album. i wish it was better, cause it sounds like it has the potential to be brilliant.

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
May 17 2026

It’s criminal this album is so short - I’d of loved it just as much if it was twice as long - but it’s short and sweeeeeettttttt. It’s so smooth and Gaye just knows how to make brilliant soul music

Dr. Octagonecologyst by Dr. Octagon
May 18 2026

This album so hit or miss lmao like one moment they are the goat of hip hop (hyperbole they arent Nas level good) and then the next they are dropping Soundcloud rap.

Talk Talk Talk by The Psychedelic Furs
May 19 2026

What is this list’s obsession with blannnnndddddddddd pop punk new wave it’s SO BORINNGGGG. I really see 0 value for this to be anywhere near the list, just leave it on the 2 dollar bargain CD bin haha

May 20 2026

misogynistic pig.... what was cool was on the 2nd last song there was a women spitting BARRSSSSSSSSS and putting him in his PLACE.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
May 21 2026

Very fun Irish inspired pop rock album, cool variety of instruments used, but gets very hit or miss

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
May 22 2026

ray charles is such a genius, it was 38 minutes of pure big band fun and charm, every player on this album putting 110% into making it a delight for the ears. plus his vocals are just so iconic

May 23 2026

this hip hop album was pleasantly nice, has so much 2000's charm. cool that i knew the hit and it's def better then when i've heard the song online. though 12 min closer ;=;

Le Tigre by Le Tigre
May 24 2026

very punk very rock very indie very women very fem this was pretty fun and a good length

American Pie by Don McLean
May 25 2026

American Pie is one of those annoying ass Karaoke songs that every single annoying person loves to put on, it’s not even interesting. Rest of the album kinda boring with a lil soul in it

Heavy Weather by Weather Report
May 26 2026

ILY JAZZ FUSION <3 MARRY ME. Weather Report has been in my scope of wanting to listen to more ever since i originally listened to their debut album years back. Cool vibes and i always love any version of Birdland (shoutout Birdland)

Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 27 2026

This list really makes you wanna hate Elvis Costello I swear can we just remove all of his boring albums

Strange Cargo III by William Orbit
May 28 2026

Was very concerned for this album for the first minute then the drums came in and it was the most awesome ambience music I’ve heard in a hot minute

Peggy Suicide by Julian Cope
May 29 2026

i listened to this album in a lecture hall and my god i might of thought whatever the teacher was yapping on that week was better then the music playing in my ears. isn't bad enough to give it a 1 tho

The Good, The Bad & The Queen by The Good, The Bad & The Queen
May 30 2026

Everything that gorillaz guy touches turns it into mediocre slop. It sounds like an imitation of what pretentious music snobs would like. It has the occasional interesting melodic bit in it.

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
May 31 2026

i didn't get anything out of listening to this album, the same way i didn't the last 4 times i listened to neil young. 2 more times left! how exciting !

Throwing Muses by Throwing Muses
Jun 01 2026

This album is cool. It’s got cool rock and a good vocalist. Doesn’t overstay its welcome too

Sunshine Superman by Donovan
Jun 04 2026

This list is just… so filled with this nothing burger 60’s pysch rock… I don’t get why this is here

Water From An Ancient Well by Abdullah Ibrahim
Jun 05 2026

i was looking forward to this until i listened to it and it was the most stereotypical jazz music i've heard. like i love jazz don't get me wrong but this didn't blow my mind. thought at least it woulda had some african inspo in it but eh whatever

Sound Affects by The Jam
Jun 06 2026

Yeah this was ur list creator loving UK rock, but hey, it’s not half bad.

You Are The Quarry by Morrissey
Jun 07 2026

we didn't need this yawning mississey album. the songs behind it aren't even good

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Jun 08 2026

As much as I hate the sheer amount of pysch rock albums in this timespan on this list, this is one of the ones I think should actually be in the list. It’s actually got some level of sauce to it.

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.
Jun 09 2026

This album sounds like what the beastie boys stumbled onto when they first started out and was like “we will make a killing innovating this style.” Pretty damn cool for 1984 tho

Queen Of Denmark by John Grant
Jun 10 2026

I would have said much more negative things until I did the research and found out a bit about him. Very nothingburger album tho, cool at times but very forgettable

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Jun 11 2026

A lesser good version of intimidator, wasn’t half bad though!

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder
Jun 12 2026

It’s Stevie wonders weakest album on the books, and out of the 7 I’ve heard in prior. Though being said, he still has such incredible sauce just making interesting and groovy stuff.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Jun 13 2026

I can’t lie this is definitely the best Rolling Stones album on the list - 60s rock is never my thing, it still isn’t after this album but this wasn’t a bad listen at all! Cool album cover too

Idlewild by Everything But The Girl
Jun 14 2026

I can’t lie this is def on the blander side of the list… however do I think it’s bad ? Not really. Feels like an inspo album for someone like Norah Jones

Trafalgar by Bee Gees
Jun 15 2026

Forgettable but not terrible album, it had the stuff that would eventually make them into them. -1 points for a song called “Israel” and being positive of it

Joan Baez by Joan Baez
Jun 16 2026

This is a very beautiful folk album esp for being from 1960. Holy sparks tho it’s 55mins did it really need to be that long?

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Jun 17 2026

If there’s any blues rock that I’d say is like worth it to listen to - it prob would be this. It’s just got soul in it that most other stuff on the list doesn’t.

Opus Dei by Laibach
Jun 18 2026

Maybe good if you are doing a dnd session and this fits the medieval spirits vibes you’ve got but man this ain’t it.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Jun 19 2026

MMMMMMMMMM this is just got so much SOUL to it. this def makes me want so many more quality modern albums on the list, the production is just so good compared to 90% of this list.

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Jun 20 2026

everyone i know who listens to elliott smith has pretty great taste. i can't lie this is just what all modern day singer songwriters need to look up to

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Jun 21 2026

this fits smack bang in the middle between the other two nick drake albums on the list. whilst it's not got the vibes of bryter layter, it's so much better then Five Leaves Left. self title track 1000% the best on the album. too short tho

Jun 22 2026

This was a very very solid representation of pride, this 1000% deserves to be listened to by everyone. Amazing songs to fill too.

Dig Me Out by Sleater-Kinney
Jun 23 2026

fun girl rock, kinda punky and def my vibe.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jun 24 2026

very strong start but for 95% of rock music u can't make a 1:15 album and see that the quality will be there for the whole run. enjoyed most of it tho.

Jun 25 2026

cool early 90's hiphop but it didn't really spin the needle too much for me. one or two good songs in the bunch tho. Fear Of A Black Planet is a better album

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Jun 26 2026

Today I learn that Sultans of Swing is made by Dire Straits ! Pretty cool ngl. Overall an album that gets into it after a few tracks, and ends well. I get why the fam likes this band

Jun 27 2026

I wouldn’t mind if this was the “1001 electronic album to listen to before you die” cause I can never get sick of this stuff. Last track the only doozie on the album

Jun 28 2026

There’s two really brilliant tracks on this, and just a bunch of ballads on here. Don’t get me wrong, their good, but compared to faith this is a step down as a whole project

Future Days by Can
Jun 29 2026

painfully blaugh album. super duper forgettable. doesn't help there's a 20 min track in the 40min song.

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Jun 30 2026

an album i was surprised that whilst i've never listened to the individual tracks before, i've heard half of the album before. people must love sampling and covering this album. and like... it's good enough to deserve that!!!!

evermore by Taylor Swift
Jul 01 2026

One of her last “good albums” before she dropped her quality post midnights. This sorta sound fits her voice quite well. This is my 9th album of hers I’ve listened to, and I much prefer the other one on the list over this. I don’t think I can ever get used to Taylor swearing however

A Seat at the Table by Solange
Jul 02 2026

Only found out afterwards that’s she’s Beyoncé’s sister! That’s cool! There a part of me which can hear that in the music, but just as much of me likes how it has huge style difference whilst being in adjacent genres. It really gives indie for some reason??? It did drag in bits, I do feel like these sorta albums work at 40mins a lot more then 55mins

Brown Sugar by D'Angelo
Jul 03 2026

Very soul it feels like it needs to be 53min and it does that well. Didn’t blow me away in any way however

Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service
Jul 04 2026

I don’t give boring albums a 1 star, but man, this is almost pushing it for me…

The Predator by Ice Cube
Jul 05 2026

It’s got that one good IceCube song a bunch of other songs that are cool but not special

Repeater by Fugazi
Jul 06 2026

This is one for the punk / hardcore fans, and if ur into that, this is ur jam. Not a half bad album personally

Black Monk Time by The Monks
Jul 07 2026

Life if Robert Dimery removed 70% of pyschadelic rock albums from the list: *insert that one futuristic city photo*

Electric by The Cult
Jul 08 2026

I really got nothing with this. I feel like that’s the case with half of the rock albums on this list. There’s only so many ways to be creative within the genres… maybe would be cooler if it was made 20 years prior

Real Life by Magazine
Jul 09 2026

If I righteously deleted half of the bland boring new wave punk pop albums from this list…. I’d probably keep this one. It get detracted from the experience because of all the other blandness from the genre on the list, but in a vacuum, it’s got nice synths and a cool experimentation album.

Crazysexycool by TLC
Jul 10 2026

a few iconic songs mixed in with a bunch of alrightness onto it. very much rnb vibes. interludes kinda felt pointless?

Skylarking by XTC
Jul 11 2026

An artist I’ve shocked got one entry yet alone two???? Very nothing but 80’s. Much like their album 13 years later

Moondance by Van Morrison
Jul 12 2026

this might be the least jazz, jazz album on the list. yes it really is jazz but is it really? moondance is def the best track on this list of songs, but a lot of it i felt like i wanted more, even when there is a lot of stuff going on in the tracks. Morrison is a very great songwriter tho.

Jul 13 2026

I really don’t care for 60’s psychedelic rock. The world would be better if 70% of the genre just vanished from the world

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp
Jul 14 2026

An album that’s tasty to the brim even tho it’s real ambient nature of it. Some real great tracks about.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Jul 15 2026

I gotta always respect Kraftwerk, they are literally the fore fathers for everything I love about electronic music. This is so simple yet so beautiful, and probably 10x harder to make in 1978 then it would be now. Incredible.

S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things
Jul 16 2026

Eh… whatever. I love it when they use stereo as a 3 track thing omg it’s so cool hahahahhahahahhahahahaha. It’s just so nothing with glimpses of interest every 10 mins, but nothing to make it stand out amongst this list.

Roxy Music by Roxy Music
Jul 17 2026

bit ahead of the curve but listening to this 50 years too late makes me.... feel like i can't value it for what it is as much as i do. couple cool moments however

Django Django by Django Django
Jul 18 2026

Indie rock mixed with synth pop is always a fun combo; I can’t lie I enjoyed a bunch of this, tho not at the level that I’d listen to it again.

Felt Mountain by Goldfrapp
Jul 19 2026

this album is just a delight for the ears, especially in the context of making dinner at night. trip hop is 99% of the time such a great genre and i'm glad there's as much of it on the list. glad goldfrapp has 2 albums on here

Buffalo Springfield Again by Buffalo Springfield
Jul 20 2026

I feel like this list has conditioned me to have praise for a psychedelic rock album doing literally ANYTHING right as the 2nd best album in its genre. This album really has its moments literally throughout its run, but it does have just as much doozies in it.

Sunday At The Village Vanguard by Bill Evans Trio
Jul 21 2026

it was a cold winter night as i walked home from the day at work listening to this. the warm bass, the skillfully spaced drums and my god the piano, all magnificent. the emotions coming out from the gentle chatter behind it made me so immersed in it, it felt like love. i wish i could resonate with the individual pieces more however, whilst all the tracks were majestic, in retrospect they are really samey.

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Jul 22 2026

I already wrote a review of this album, it was pretty lengthy, which made me annoyed but whatever. This will expand on it after talking to people about the album. This album feels like a convoluted mess, but maybe intentionally... that's the point of it. The first part of this is inexcusable. the drummer(s) shouldn't of been on the record. Their energy and general playing just doesn't compliment the album at all, and at times they drag to the point where it is notable on several tracks on the album. This being herald as one of the best albums with that scrappy of playing profounds me, like THIS quality is what peeps like the rolling stones thinks is acceptable????? Finding out that the singer of this is... the guy from the Sex Pistols shocked me. Why is the singing just THAT much worse then the singing in that band. It might be for artistic reasons due to the experiential nature of the project, but still... god this just doesn't please my ears. Guitar is just either bland or just really out of place in the songs? The only saving redemption this album has is the bassist. Jah Wobble I thank you for sacrificing yourself for this project. Hopefully you were like in the studio "well this sounds like shit but at least i can make this bearable". the tone, the note choices and just the whole vibe of the playing really made me not HATE HATE this album. it made the tracks where the bass playing was absent just that much worse. i might flip a coin for my score... it's really bordering the worst albums that i've heard on this list.

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction
Jul 23 2026

The album cover is so atrocious that it makes me wanna drop the score by one due to its nature, especially in what… an all male band ???? Not cool guys. Music is pretty good nevertheless. Very punky has so much energy to it and the lil glimpses of funk in it is always a nice treat. Vocals are a bit annoying at times.

Exile In Guyville by Liz Phair
Jul 24 2026

very much a landmark album for what came after which i loved. due to that it is missing a bit of the sauce. good project nevertheless

Hypnotised by The Undertones
Jul 25 2026

we get a lot of these pop punk new wave albums on the list that it just feels like "oh yay here's another one, i sure wonder what is different about this one". and this one doesn't really do anything special. it does the normal well, and i didn't mind listening to it, but what's the value of these albums.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Jul 26 2026

This is the sorta albums I started doing this list for. Incredible disco and RnB. Already was a great album up until We Are Family but when that song hit, oh man did it HIT. Listened to half of it a second time over after it finished, which is a rarity for me.

I Am a Bird Now by Antony and the Johnsons
Jul 27 2026

the vocals on this took a bit to grow on me, it really sucked on the first track and it softened throughout it more. i know an acquaintance of mine who has almost the same voice but makes better music then this, so yeah. loved the production though. and the guest singers made the best tracks on the album.

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Jul 28 2026

This might be the best Elvis Costello album on the list don’t get me wrong, but it’s still Elvis Costello. Maybe I’d like it better if this was the only one of his albums on the list. I’m tired of his voice.

Jul 29 2026

pleasantly surprised at this album, literally had no expectations but this experimental ambient but also a bit of everything album just had interesting song after another interesting song. pretty damn cool.

It's Too Late to Stop Now by Van Morrison
Jul 30 2026

With little exceptions, I believe there shouldn’t be any non jazz live albums on the list. Why is a single performance worthy of being an album I should listen to… the flow of an album is unmatched. Whilst this is good, it’s too long and lacks any reason for why it’s on here, especially when I heard a better non live Van Morrison album 2 weeks ago.

Mott by Mott The Hoople
Jul 31 2026

boring and at a bit of times a bit weird glam rock. like i get tryna be creative, quirky and unique but man this direction didn't flow for me at all.

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
Aug 01 2026

this album takes what wilco does good and puts it in a genre where it makes it feel generic and boring. very samey tracks.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Aug 02 2026

was excited to listened to this, but i think i got my hopes a little bit too high. the first half is decently nice, and if they kept the pace throughout it i might think of it more favorably, but there is some misses towards the end.

Music by Madonna
Aug 03 2026

out of the 4 Madonna albums i've listened to (this is the first one on the list), this is def the weakest one that i've heard. it's very experimental for being from the 2000's, having it's perks and flaws from being that. which there was other madonna albums on here instead of this tho.

B-52's by The B-52's
Aug 04 2026

this was cool, however i literally don't see a reason where i'd listen to this when The Go-Go's do this better in every way. not a badddd song on the album tho

Suede by Suede
Aug 05 2026

the brits did the impossible... make The Smiths without Morrissey. that instantly makes it better then the Smiths.

Mask by Bauhaus
Aug 06 2026

Enough with this genre. Can we just banish it. I can’t imagine a person who would genuinely listen to this music on a daily basis, like, how.

McCartney by Paul McCartney
Aug 07 2026

i listened to this album with my mother. she has a more favorable opinion of the beatles then I do. she says "if Paul McCartney wasn't in The Beatles, this wouldn't be on the list". I completely agree.

Teen Dream by Beach House
Aug 08 2026

Beach House is an artist that criminally speaks my name, has everything i want in music, but for some reason it hasn't clicked for me yet. don't get me wrong, absolutely incredible music. i'm sure in years time i'll look back on this being only 4 stars and being like "oh you didn't get it". i quite fancy this genre of music, it's just so beautiful. can't wait for me to get it.

Aug 09 2026

Might be the best Yes album on the list - mixed with some great melodic ideas throughout it, and then the other bits are just what I don’t like about 60’s rock.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Aug 11 2026

i think i appreciated this album way more when i listened to what she made in the 60's and was like "oh damn she got so much better in those 10 years". very unique and cool vocals. probably made room for so much art pop even with it's rockiness

Fred Neil by Fred Neil
Aug 12 2026

eh. this is just some whatever 60's folk rock. really nothingburger.

Liquid Swords by GZA
Aug 14 2026

This is good but every single 90’s hip hop album really sounds the same, obv there’s exceptions to that (shoutout Tribe Called Quest and NAS), but yeah wouldn’t be able to tell the difference for 80% of the genre in the 90’s stylistically.

Supa Dupa Fly by Missy Elliott
Aug 15 2026

nice production for this album, with alright rapping. vibes were good most of the time but some songs felt really off.

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Aug 16 2026

YEAAAHHH TRIPHOP WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THANK YOU THE LIST FOR GIVING ME SO MUCH OF THIS STUFF YUMMMMM

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Aug 17 2026

IF A DOUBLE DECKER BUS CRASHES INTO US TO DIE BY YOUR SIDE IS SUCH A HEAVENLY WAY TO DIE

Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson
Aug 18 2026

Did I enjoy this album? Yes! Do I prefer other albums by Janet? Yes Feels like an album of what Micheal ended up doing for the next 5 years, which like, good on her for beating him to the punch.

Aug 19 2026

This woulda been a delight to see in 1963 for sure, woulda been dancing and giggling and vibing. I can’t say the same for 2026.

The Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas
Aug 20 2026

the first song was quite a banger and was hoping the rest of the album was the same, and it half let me down. don't get me wrong, like me some trip hop but it's a real mixed bag.

Winter In America by Gil Scott-Heron
Aug 21 2026

good mix of blues and jazz and funk, though i wouldn't say it excels at any of them. takes a good swing at it nevertheless.

Music From The Penguin Cafe by Penguin Cafe Orchestra
Aug 22 2026

Avant Garde in maybe its most purest form. A bit of this, a bit of that throughout a huge variety of styles. Like most experimental music, some of it really works and some of it is an interesting stylistic choice

Rip It Up by Orange Juice
Aug 23 2026

huh, that's def an album. has all the things that make music cool, don't get me wrong. again, i don't think there's a soul that needs to listen to this before they die.

Pink Flag by Wire
Aug 24 2026

i swear if i got this album as my first album on the list I MIGHT of not of done the list. it's not complete nonsense (there's a good song about 70% into it) but like... don't we have enough pop punk new wave to go around on the list already...

Mama's Gun by Erykah Badu
Aug 25 2026

this album just goes on for too long. the content on it is pretty cool don't get me wrong, but if this was 45mins i'd prob have a more favorable opinion on it!

So by Peter Gabriel
Aug 26 2026

Very good front half, wish it continued that energy throughout it, sledgehammer is a banger tho

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
Aug 27 2026

This is the better dolly album out of the two, very sweet and good country. Rest in peace 🙏🙏
