Sorry, this just be some 60s thing I'm too young to understand. No but seriously it's not bad I guess but I doubt I'll go back to it.
My Beatles enjoyment seems to inversely correlate with how wacky they are - this one has a fair chunk of wackiness that puts me off, but I do enjoy the Indian influenced moments.

Beatles time. Coming off a 4 into what promises to be better than the last album we were exposed to on this list. Ten seconds into the first track, if they recorded gorilla fight audio for the remainder of this bad boy, it would be better than that David Bowie thing. Odd, musical, invigorating. Good start. This song suffers from its success. Overplayed beyond belief but it’s also quite bland. I like the backup gang vocal call and response sections, but overall this one is mediocre and less exciting than some of their other work. This is psychedelic rock. While again, overplayed, I am interested in this and it holds not only my attention but excitement for what comes next. We’re the rocking horse people REALLY eating marshmallow pies??? With that bombshell aside, a slightly annoying chorus is made up for with fantastic verses and fascinating lyrics/sounds. The simplicity does not thrill the way their other albums have. The vocal melody here is nice and the Beatles songwriting is just the top tier but there’s nothing too grippy about the “traditional” parts of the album. This one repeats far too much and ironically, is getting worse as the track continues. This album feels thin somehow. I don’t know if it’s the remaster but there’s some punch missing with the production. This one is fairly listless. Guitar tone is kind of cool and the organ backing is interesting again, but there is nothing to really write home about in this one. Maybe I’d write home to confess my drug habit and my consortium with scouse hippies, but other than that, this song remains a DEEP track. Harps and violins are a little dramatic. This feels like a fantasia soundtrack backing a blow by blow recounting of a breakup. Hey, I’d leave too if my weird friend’s band started describing me putting on a shirt with accompanying Violas. Nah this one is not doing it for me. Worst track so far, by far. Mr. Kite has to actually be pretty happy with this one. I like this one a lot more. Bizarre and obtuse which appeals to me. Polka circus infused with psychedelics. Perfect nightmare combo. Love this. After some run of the mill tracks, this is wonderful. Sitar time. No white guy on DMT is complete without it. I guess when you cover enough American blues songs and make enough money, you become enlightened. Nirvana achieved by the Beatles, whereas I wasn’t ready for said nirvana. This one is too self-indulgent somehow. Not as good. Actually not good at all. This just keeps Going. Make it stop. When I’m 64 is nice. It’s happy and nice. I don’t know how this fits in though. It seems like an anomaly and 1967’s answer to Pixar music. It’s so out of place and simple that while it is a delightful little romp, it’s kind of silly. Alright. I prognosticated kazoos and they have arrived. This is not my kind of thing. It’s fine. That’s the crux of all of this. It’s got some fascinating ideas and then a deluge of stuff that doesn’t work for me. The end was super cool though. Loved that combination of sounds. There are sections of this album that I LOVE. There will be passages here and there that are so fresh and exciting despite being almost 60 years old. Good morning indeed. Bring on the animal sound effects baby. Maybe we will get that extended gorilla fight. A reprise??? Not in my review. Although a reprise of what was arguably the best song isn’t too shabby. Fine. Good song. So many changes within and a bunch of ambient noise to go along with it. The beautiful vocal melody on the refrain is haunting. I like this one. This album is cool. Slightly cringe in the way that it’s very much “white 20 something discovers mushrooms and makes it his personality” but there are so many cool ideas that would be built upon and improved with the white album. 3-3.5 easily. I wonder if they had partaken in any drugs at this point... the world may never know. Great album. The opening track is baller. Not my favorite album from them, but I'll give it a 3.5

probably objectively a super influential album, but just didn’t do it for me. the only song i’d maybe listen to again was a day in the life. it felt sort of like i was listening to the soundtrack of a movie or play which maybe is the style for the time???
Like, it's ok. But nowhere near worth all the hype. Jumps all over the place musically and you have the usual Lennon nonsense track that loads of people probably think is genius, but it's actually shit. Just don't see where all the hype and acclaim comes from.
I admit that I am probably holding this to incredibly high standards just because of the incredibly high praise this album gets. It's one of those albums I am glad I finally got to listen to. I understand that it's an incredibly influential album, but even then, I really feel it hasn't held up compared to other influential albums I've heard (135 so far). The songs felt a bit too saccharine for my liking, ironically enough the intro and outro being among my favorites.
For an album with a fairly iconic reputation, I didn't feel like it had the quality across the board which I would come to expect. It may be a victim of its own success in that regard.
Maybe it's because I'm an uncultured millennial but I just do not personally get this album. Like, I understand that it's culturally significant and is one of the most impactful and important albums of all time, but I lack the context for it; I didn't grow up listening to The Beatles. It didn't click with me.

This was an... experience. I'm not entirely sure what I just listened to but I think I know where early Panic! at the Disco got their inspiration from. This definitely works much better as an album than any of their "classic" singles do on their own. Wild.

I'll state upfront I love the Beatles music, it's all important and it's all beautiful so Ill review this ranked against the Beatles other albums. This isn't that good. Revolver has better songs. Magical mystery tour is more psychedelic,. The white album is more experimental. Please, please me has more energy. Most importantly it's the actual last Beatles album I would recommend to someone. 6/10 overrated
Overrated! The Kinks nailed the Little England concept album a year later, with The Village Green Preservation Society. With that said, A Day in the Life is one of the greatest songs ever written, and must have sounded like a bolt from the blue in ‘67.

God start på den her plade, men bliver lidt kedelig i længden. Jeg var mere til Revolver, på trods af et par enkelte bangers på den her. Pladen virker som om den har haft mere fokus på konceptet, end at lave gode sange.
I wish this album was as good as everyone says it is. There's some great stuff, like a couple of the opening tracks, 'A Day in the Life' obviously, 'Mr Kite' is nice too. The rest is just not very interesting at all, or they try and make up for a mediocre song by throwing some weird instruments into the mix to throw you off and make you think you're listening to some great experimental bit of genius. The best bands of this era managed to make exciting and interesting songs while experimenting at the same time. The Beatles seem to always be struggling to manage that.

I think this is pretty mid to me. Not the greatest but not the worst. Despite its age it's something that is nice to hear of it's on kind of thing.
I do find the Beatles to be pleasant but they just don’t resonate with me much here. The album doesn’t make me feel much. This is supposedly their attempt to move from boy band(with all girl/woman) fans to ‘artistic’. I guess it worked in terms of critical review but it sort of just feels like they stole some stuff from India and did some drugs. Maybe I’m missing the historical significance because I wasn’t alive when it happened. Highlights - 1st 2 songs - A day in the life Low lights - Lovely Rita - Within you Without you
As much as I love The Beatles, this is not my favourite album from them. I can understand why it's in the top 1001 - it's experimental and textured. However, most of the songs on this one are too upbeat and commercial for me. My favourites (which are 5/5 for me) are Within You, Without You, She's Leaving Home, and A Day In The Life. The rest, I just find myself quickly irritated by.

I am going back and forth. There were some great tracks but then some that were just so out there that it seemed somewhat comical. It was also felt like such a departure from what they were, its like good kids who tried acid once and became completely enlightened and have to make sure everyone knows that they have done this. I don't hate it, but it makes me wonder if another band had released this album if it would have received such critical praise.

Beatles for me are the most overrated band of all time. like their not bad but y'all are glazing them way too much. also the 60s as whole seem like a decade where you had to be there to get it, because psychedelic rock sounds like liquid trash flowing in your ears. I don't get it and that's probably fine, but every time I open my new album and see the release date being in the 60s I have no desire to listen to the album
Ok, so, it’s not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. In fact, it’s not bad at all! Really pleasantly surprised. 3 stars.

Crazy album with up and downs. I would probably only listen to "lucy in the sky with diamonds" and "a day in a life" more often. But musically a really good album.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was a fairly alright album. It was clear that here, the Beatles were actually trying some fairly interesting musical ideas including some circus themed musical stylings and for the most part, they worked fairly well. The album obviously was not perfect, the vocals were a bit iffy in some areas but they were mostly handled pretty well. While i don't think this album is better than Abbey Road, I would still easily put it above Rubber Soul. Best Song: Within You Without You Worst Song: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
This was my first Beatles record to hit me in my journey through this generator and in fact my first Beatles record full stop. Despite growing up in England I just never really bothered to go out of my way to listen to The Beatles of my own accord as they're so ingrained in pop culture here that it's hard not to hear many of their songs by doing nothing at all. Movies, TV shows and adverts all frequently feature the fab fours music so I've heard plenty of tracks without even trying. That said, I was rather excited to get this album as my first, as not only is the album cover ridiculously iconic, but it's also one of the best selling records of all time in the UK and up until 2018 it was THE best selling record. So it must be top quality to stand the test of time that long right? The album opens up with a "live" performance introducing the titular band before seguing into "With A Little Help From My Friends" (the one song I was already familiar with on this album) and honestly? Great intro. The title track has a great little guitar riff and McCartney's vocals are fantastic on it. Wasn't expecting The Beatles to rock like that straight out of the gate. There's some debate on whether this is the first concept album ever or not. Many say it is but McCartney himself says the band was influenced by Freak Out! by Frank Zappa. The intention being that the songs on this album are performed by the fictional titular band. But I was sad to see that the "live" sound and seamless transitions disappeared after Track 2. I wish that was something they'd carried on through the entire record. Nonetheless we're then into Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and to me, this is where the album starts to falter. The songs aren't necessarily bad but there's nothing outstanding about them, until we get to "Within You Without You" written by George Harrison that gives a pretty unique sound through use of the sitar. From here it's a slightly better, if still somewhat average run of tracks until we get to the title track reprise and then the true gem of this album. "A Day In The Life" is what I was expecting from The Beatles and from such a popular album. Great lyrics, very interesting and I imagine for the time massively creative songwriting, good stuff to leave the album off on. It's just a shame that there wasn't about 10 more tracks like that.
I don't think I like the Beatles near as much as most. I just don't fully get it.
The most overrated album in rock history. It's an interesting document of growing experimentation with recording technology and the art of production as part of music composition. It's the beatles, so there are lots of interesting melodic phrases, great sounding little guitar fills, and good basslines (doing a funny tuba oompa boompa thing all over the place), but the lyrics are all pretty insipid and the whole brass band concept album thing is pretty stupid. There are so many joke songs for an album always held up as the pinnacle of serious rock artistry. And somehow Ringo has the 3rd best song and the 2nd best one is George's psychadelic raga. It's just way too much of a Paul cartoon brain album. A Day in the Life is great though, like the wrapped up the concept album thing and realized they forgot to include any actually good tracks so stuck a bonus one on the end.
First Beatles album I've deliberately listened to. Definitely interesting, much more diverse of a sound than I had thought. Don't know if I'd go back to this one though.
The intro promises an oh so proggy album. But the tracks end up sickly sweet and disjointed nevertheless...the only real gem is A Day In The Life. -1 additional star for John Lennon's explicit admission of beating his first wife.
I’m not sure the Beatles are an “album” band, rather than a “song” band, but this might be as close as they ever got. Can’t say for sure, but I’m pretty confident about that.

Half this half is certified classics and the other half is unlistenable. I’m not sure what to do with this information.
Best Song: With a Little Help From My Friends. The best vocals on the album, for sure. That punctate, bouncy rhythm really suits the uplifting feel of the song as well. Worst Song: Getting Better. The Beatles have an uncanny penchant for making songs that are maximally annoying with minimal runtime. Just inane repetition of a hook that wasn't interesting the first time. Overall: Maybe this is just my modernity, but for an album that's touted as being so weird an experimental, this sounds fairly ordinary. Sure there are a few tracks that are a bit more out-there, but I don't see it as being a grand departure from what the Beatles had already been doing. It may have pushed the industry to allow freer, more experimental music, but experiencing it as a modern listener is anything but revelatory.

Kinda lacks emotion. The Beatles are excellent at making music, meaning nothing ever sounds bad, no tune, instrument, vocals, or song. But most of the songs on this album feel insignificant. Nothing instilled an emotion or afterthought in me besides "sounds good". Feels like watching da Vinci drawing stick figures.
Listening sober Don't ❤️ with a little help from my friends as much as the Joe crocker version. But is this the original version? Must research. In Getting Better mans actually talking about abusing his lady? Physically and emotionally? But he's getting better now... glad for the growth, can't say I love the song. Within You Without You: LOVE. The bollywood vibe rules and the lyrics are very awesome. When I'm 64... adorable 🥰 A Day In The Life: can see why someone would like it but it doesn't speak to me much. Overall, I think the generational gap proves to be a bit much throughout the album. It's an easy listen but was difficult for me to get "in" to since most was unrelatable to me.

Let's be honest. They were better in the red album era. I've never really liked this album all the times I've heard it, and this time was no different. There are a few tracks I like, such as "When I'm Sixty-Four" and the middle part of "A Day in the Life". The melody of "With a Little Help from My Friends" has grown on me over the years. They key thing about these tracks, I think, is that they are in keeping with a more melodic style. The rest is LSD-fuelled nonsense. Three stars for the few I like.
Honestly not a huge fan. I like the more pop oriented stuff the Beatles put out. This album is interesting, but I would never seek it out there’s not really a -vibe- there besides weird. 3/5

I love The Beatles! This one is a little too Renaissance Faire for me, though. I love the intro to the whole album.
Though the it is a classic rock album, I found the original version to be rough as far as the mixing and sound engineering goes. I listened to a remixed version of the album and enjoyed it. There are several classic tracks on the album.

I generally can't listen to more than a few Beatles songs in succession. This was no exception. I can appreciate the song writing and there undoubtedly a few fantastic songs on this, but I just can't deal with the vocals. They aren't exactly grating, but they are pretty fucking close and it ruins what could otherwise be a great album.
Some absolute stars here. Great closer. LSD is just the right level of twee. I sung With a Little Help From My Friends for my year 6 leavers. It's also an album that has patchy recreations of styles that don't really work for them. Some songs are just a groan. But I still reckon these guys are gonna be big! Three and a half. Fave track: Day in the Life

J’aime bien les Beatles en général, donc j’ai aimé quelques unes de ces musiques, elles sont assez calmes je trouve. J’en préfère clairement d’autres d’eux. Surtout la dernière il me semble que l’album m’a littéralement angoissée ! Il y a des passages d’interlude un peu qui utilisent des sons de films d’horreur x)

I expected more. I knew a lot of these songs but hadn’t listened in the context of the full album. I found it dull in place but hard to imagine hearing it in the context of its time.
ok, dit is wel echt een heel bekend album. Mijn probleem met Beatles is een beetje de recording klinkt vreemd? De vocals zijn lastig te horen, dat kan te maken hebben met de recording, de (re)mastering maar ook met dat het een keuze is van de artiest I guess? Ik ben in elk geval blij dat het muzikaal een stukje gezelliger en vrolijker is. Voor de tijd lijkt het me vrij vernieuwend allemaal. Maar ik durf het bijna niet te zeggen; ik vind het toch een klein beetje saai allemaal. Good Morning Good Morning zorgt voor paniek in huize Tehu, want Gappie shrikt van alle dieren. A day in the life begon als mijn favoriete nummer, denk dat dat mijn favoriete nummer is. Gebeurt muzikaal echt heel veel wat ik nice vind, vooral die explosie van geluid rond 2 minuten en dan de complete stilte. A fine album and admittedly the very first Beatles album I have ever listened to (in 2023- thanks for the punk rock dad!). Ill need to listen to the others front to back to get a sense of where this falls in there catalogue but it's so easy to see how prolific and influential they were. There were moments where I truly believed they were gunna really rock out, and the psychedelic bits were nice.

There's some cool songs (yes I like a day in the life) but the whole in between of the album is pure nothing. could be like 4 or 5 songs tbh.
I'm fully aware of the cultural impact of this album - for which it deserves 5 stars very easily. But rating it in terms of my personal enjoyment... it's all over the place and I'm simply not at all a fan of the incoherent, dissonant psychedelia bits. While certainly not horrible, I consider this album among the weakest outputs of The Beatles. It may have its moments, but I'll take The White Album or Abbey Road over Sgt. Pepper's any day.
I don't feel like I have the right to say anything about this album, as it's all been said before. I'm not a fan. I feel like if there was a default music for people born after 1950 this would be it.

Despite the hype, this album is a very mixed bag. A few great songs. A few terrible songs. And a few... more songs.
First Beatles album I’ve listened to, I think I’d get more out of it if I had listened to it as a progression from their earlier stuff. Plus it gave me horrible flashbacks to when we had Beatles Rockband set up in Game sauchiehall street and people playing the same songs badly over and over again. It was good though

Day in A Life is a banger. Everything else is so so.
There's no denying the influence and impact this album had on music and popular culture. And yes, A Day In A Life is a truly great song. But...I do think this album is somewhat overrated and it get so highly regarded because it's the "first" or the beginning of the rock album era. I do think there are others that followed are much better. Granted, I'm not the biggest Beatles fan, (I don't hate them but I don't love them either) so that might tilt my bias a bit. Still, it's fine but there is a lot of filler on here.
“[we] nicked a few ideas” Credit where credit is due blah blah blah this probably the Beatles’ worst record and easily their most overrated. They listened to Pet Sounds and tried to make something better and they failed. It seems to me that a lot of what is considered “avant-garde” and “experimental” about this is in most cases, completely derivative. In a way, the LHCB alter ego is a perfect cover - hollow, phony, a band playing music that sounds like someone else’s ideas. When you strip away the first couple layers you’re left with a few classics and a lot of cornball junk.

I enjoyed this more than other Beatles music, to be honest. I usually find some of their more popular songs boring by today's standards. While I am still not a huge Beatles fan this did help me appreciate them more.
I appreciate that this album was a turning point for the Beatles and the genre, but I generally don’t love it. Musically I find it weaker than other albums of theirs even with their experimentation with unique instruments. The opening is fun but some middle songs are snoozers. A lot of this is personal preference but it’s just not my favorite.
I like the first half of the album better than the second half. Better than what I was expecting, this was the first Beatles album I've heard.
I mean, there are some bangers in here. There's also a fair amount of "we got high and thought this was funny"

There's some great songs on here, the first three or four in particular. It's weird, in that I don't think I'd ever properly heard this one all the way through before. There's definitely a lot more expansive stuff on here compared to other Beatle's records, but I personally think there's a lot of misses in here too. There's also some stuff I actively dislike as well. I'm not digging 'Within You Without You' at all (sorry George).

Pleasant enough. As with all the Beatles albums I've listened to there are some good songs that are rightly iconic but also some clangers.
A.K.A. The Beatles get high AF and make an album
Admitting to abusing your partner in the 4th track of a keystone album is a bold move. The album open strong with some of my favorite tracks by the band, which is kind of impressive considering I never really gelled with m9st of The Beatles catalogue, but kinda fades into a series 9f tracks that fade into the background and just sound like commercial jingles, in like the best way possible. Catchy ear worms that kinda don't matter or ask much of you as a listener. Really fun background music but hardly something that's engaging my attention on a deeper level. But then that last track really forces you to confront the lyrics. Pretty baller way to end TBH. 3/5
I don’t love all Beatles tracks but it’s hard to not recognize and appreciate how amazing their sound is. Within you without you and day in the life are the standouts for me. Deeply pensive tracks. Haunting.

This is a middling Beatles album at best. A number of gimmicky songs take away from the overall product. It is a little silly at times. Beatles albums always gotta have a yellow submarine-esque song I suppose, but it dont need more than one, do it?

I’ve listened to this album many times. I think everyone has a Beatles phase and this was one that perplexed me. I never really understood why this album is held in such high regard.
Kind of hard not to give this a decent review if only for the massive amount of nostalgia around 90% of the songs. And to be fair, there's a lot of cool, interesting stuff going on here.

Starts and ends strongly but the middle loses me. Leans a little too psychedelic at times (see: Mr. Kite). Within You Without Out is like when your family makes you watch a slideshow of their vacation photos. When I'm 64 sounds like the theme song to a children's show. The title tracks, Getting Better, She's Leaving Home, and Good Morning Good Morning are great though.
Not a big fan of the Beatles. I don't really get the hype. Back in the day they were the first of their kind and swept the world. Now there is just bigger, better, badder, things to listen to.
Always been one of my favorite Beatles albums but there are a few songs I can't stand.
I can't say I'm an expert on anything Beatles, but I tend to like their earlier poppy stuff better than there later weird/progressive things. This seems like one of those weird progressive albums, so must be later in their catalog. Not overly impressed by anything I heard - it's ok and therefore 3 stars.

Well, it's a classic obviously, and there are tracks I was already very familiar with - like Lucy in the Sky, Help from My Friends - that are great, but I'm not bowled over by the album as a whole. I'm sure in the 60s it was groundbreaking but now, it's ok.

I still don't get this album. It's not bad, but it ranks near the bottom for me as far as Beatles albums go.
It's really hard to give this an honest rating - even though it'd been out for almost 20 years by the time I was born, I've heard some of these songs more than I can remember, and I've listened to the album start to finish at least once or twice trying to "get" it. To this end it's really hard to separate familiarity and an objective review. Realistically it sounds like a lot of the other stuff from that era, doesn't honestly stand out that much - they just got lucky with their popularity. On the other hand, even if it is just a collection of supermarket jingles in 2021, I do tap my foot because I know it all so well. 3/5 is about as honest as I can do.

Not particularly impressed, especially given the hype, but I'm sure it was more revolutionary for its day. The album art is cool.

An albums that's too famous to look at objectively. I really wonder how I would feel about it coming in cold instead of it being one of the most famous and highly rated albums ever. That said, it's ok. It has a fair few really good songs, but also a lot of songs that to me anyway just feel like filler.

Never used to get the hype about The Beatles at all, but after uni and chatting to people that like them and then giving them a good try I started to understand it. This one is odd, defo all heavily inspired by psychedelics, the lyrics aren't all that great but they know how to make a catchy tune. None of my fav tracks on here though, I prefer their earlier almost punky stuff. This is prob a 3 or a 4. Really hard to know how to rate, can't help but question whether I'd give it the time of day if it wasn't The Beatles. I reckon 3, but only just, it's good that it's so varied but it really isn't that great, but then again some moments of genius😂. 3/5

several songs that I like pretty well, or rather, they're catchy and memorable. always figured I wasn't really a Beatles guy, but maybe this album is better than I gave it credit for? I guess it's still just a 3/5 for me.

I've never listened to a full Beatles album before. This album exudes confidence to create new sounds without worrying. A sense of carefree jauntiness, but that at times feels slightly indulgent. The middle of the album feels like a stylistic departure from the front and end, but not in a way that was pushing boundaries but rather (perhaps) revealing a lack of consistent creative director or differences among band members. The Beatles still don't resonate with me because you cannot sense any passion, but I can't deny that this album is really solid and earns its place on the list.

Great first half and then the second happened.
A few short moments of sparkle wrapped in a lot of poor Ivor Cutler pastiche and bathed in a sea of pop nonsense. None of the studio tricks were invented by them, they just had the money to extend concepts already tested by others. There is nothing truly original in most popular culture but this is just a marketing composite appropriating all the things that would press the right 1960s teen buttons. In that sense, it's easy to see why it's held in high regard. There's clearly a market out there for the most essentialised pop product of the day. The deceit with the Beatles (as a group) is a claim that they were exploratory or representing any kind of edge. It's well-made and good of its type, but its type is not for me

A couple summers ago I was in London and the National Portrait Gallery had a temporary Beatles exhibit. I contemplated going into this exhibit (and paying the fee to do so). Then at the entrance I remembered that I don’t listen to or much like the Beatles, and I wondered why I considered going in the first place. Oh right, because it’s the BEATLES. Even knowing “nothing” about the Beatles is knowing more than you care to. This makes it even crazier that I’ve never listened to more than one or two of their songs. Anyway, I went to see Princess Diana instead. Favorite songs: With a Little Help From My Friends, & Within You Without You (sitar yes please).
there is something inherently countercultural about me that makes this long, long overdue beatles hype that rangers around till this day dreadful, and not connecting to the absolute best critically acclaimed and most loved just means to me, in this case, that i am nowhere interested in these men with their same old guitar riffs or having a dad (luckly not mine) music taste. unfortunately, i hate to be a hater, so there is some near interesting tracks (within you without you). and to be fair i've heard much better from them, so hopefully my killjoy speech doesn't repeat word to word for all the other 398275 entries they get in this project

How do I reconcile with the Beatles? Well, this is here, so let's start listening to it. Their famous songs, to me, sound like shite most of the time. I hate most of what they became later, I am not a fan of utilizing other cultures as a fancy, funny dress, and after living years in the UK I really, really can't stand the accent. Not a fan of the uncredited voices on these songs. I understand this is like foundational work when it comes to rock and band culture, but damn there's music older than this that grew older in a nicer, more bearable way: Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Luigi Tenco, damn even Enrico Caruso's music is more bearable than this, nowadays. The production in this album is willingly messy, with electric (I suppose?) organs playing like 20 notes in a whole song, some clappy percussions, repetitive guitar + electric organ riffs used as percussions, and voices that get lost on the musical background. I completely understand the mono and stereo tech limitations of the time, but that does not justify the messy arrangement most of these songs have - I've tried listening to the non-remastered version of it and the remastered version Lossless, and nah, that ain't it, mate. Their pop ballad "She's Leaving Home" is unbearable, mainly due to the lack of a "GREAT" voice. Again, this song could've been a Frank Sinatra song, but in that case it'd have been good, while here it is just a random pop song, to be honest. Lots of violins, lots of soft music, lots of nostalgia, but a huge lack of personality. And no, I don't find the usage of other cultures' instruments particularly amusing, especially but not exclusively when it comes from a british produced album - yeah, looking at you Within You Without You. This is what the hippy movement was in search of: shallow, performative "knowledge" of something unusual, with the certainty of being able to go back to their regular, rich kids' life after all is said and done. Performative leftists going back to their conservative roots as soon as the "weird", long song is over. Now that I finished ranting, the good stuff: These guys were ahead light years - due respect where it's due: their music can sound like good fun and can sound like a heartfelt ballad (at times), it received some influence from American blues, but gave it a decent "different" spin, and it made sense that they broke the market: good looking guys, playing instruments, without a single thought in their brain up until a certain point in their career. There's some foresight of the future electronica genre here, in "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!", with its disastrous mix of orchestral music, weird audio edit, and the circus thingy going on, and in "Within You Without You", although in that case I have a problem with the whole concept of the song. Gotta be honest, I understand why this is musical history, I just can't bring myself to listen to it ever again - it's BORING, unlike a lot of music from the previous ~50 years before this. That's a 2 stars for me, and one of them I give it only because I see its historical value.

Everyone talks about the Beatles like they were some amazing, transformative band, but this shit did not live up to the hype
I really wish I could hear what so many other people hear in The Beatles music. Psychedelic rock is not my jam, I found some of the songs borderline carnival music, and a lot of it just sounded hokey to me. It kind of feels blasphemous to be negative about such a storied and revered album, but it just wasn't for me.

This review is for the 2009 remastered because it's the only version I could find that doesn't include the outtakes. The Beatles are one of the most overrated bands of all time. Most of the vocal performances are either annoying or corny. The instrumentals are better, but they still sound corny on several tracks. The only decent track was "Fixing a Hole".
I went in open minded. I have always found the Beatles annoying and just never got them. Fully appreciate what they done and understand the cultural significance that they have. But i found this just like a child's drawing where they found instruments unique to other cultures and threw them in to sound quirky. Again, i understand that this was the first time it was done so get the hype, but just not for me

I just don’t get it. I’m sure at the time this was incredible. It it aged as well as milk from 1967. Overall in a modern context is uninspired and rather traditional which considering it defined pop rock for the rest of time isn’t surprising. The ability for a band to entirely reinvent their sound and develop their style really is what I feel this album contributes to music.

Nah, I don’t know maybe I wasn’t in the right mood for this album or just don’t understand it, but this wasn’t really it for me. After doing some research for it I suppose at the time it was very impressive and this album that has influenced so many that followed it, but it just sounded too goofy for me (maybe that’s the point?). I think there was some good instrumentals here and there is probably a deeper meaning to this album which again maybe I’m missing. This is my second Beatles album, and I still just haven’t quite connected with them. I don’t know if it’s because you always hear how good they are which sets your expectations so high that when you come to listen to them it’s kind of underwhelming. Overall, this just wasn’t it for me I’m willing to accept I’m maybe missing something but at the moment its 2 stars I’m sorry. I’m a 2001 baby but even so I like a lot of music from every decade and genre, so why am I not a really big beatles fan? I like some of their songs yes but not the biggest fan of this album. I will continue to go into Beatles album open minded like every album on this project. Maybe something will click with them in the future or is it just you feel like you should like them just because everyone else does, who knows? Anyway, there’s my review guys.

This album doesn't have me favorite songs from the band but their cultural influence and the impact on future bands can't be understated. That being said its not a band I will choose myself when picking what music I want to listen to.

The Beatles have been a crutch for the musically inept since their inception. Did they have good songs, sure, are they musical geniuses that should be held to higher standards, not even close. This albums visuals and silly song titles are the most positive outcome from this project. The experimentation produces boring interludes and obscure lyrics that don’t generate enough interest to yearn for deeper meaning.

The cohesion & flow of this album is undeniable, and you can absolutely see how the quality of the production & the experimental song-writing would have been revolutionary at the time of release. However, there is something about this album that makes it fall flat for me. There are a number of tracks that have little to no impact as individual songs, and the delivery across the album does come across as pretty dated in parts. There are no doubt strong moments on the album and small elements that will remain iconic for years to come, but despite the album’s cohesiveness I come away from it feeling slightly underwhelmed.
