Reviews (page 12 of 13)

Bisschen anstrengend

I know he’s a great and I appreciate his mastery - but it’s a bit… boring? Sorry.

Some bangers some misses

I don't think I love guitar enough to love Jimi. As far as I can tell, he's a musician's musician. What he's doing is (I am led to believe) innovative, technically difficult, and subtly expressive, but to my naive ears, it just kinda sounds like rock music. He's strumming some strings with one hand (his LEFT HAND!?!?) and pressing some other fingers onto some frets and stuff, and it's plugged into an amp over there, but it isn't really doing a ton for me. This feels like it's my 10th review with this flavor, so maybe I should just have a stock "classic rock isn't my bag" review that I copy and paste every time. Go ahead, SHOOT ME

Fairly groovy, I guess? I liked it okay.

Undoubtably a great album. One that I likely will never listen to again. While great, and showcasing impressive talent, it is not my vibe. I will def listen to the hits again, but the rest really doesn't do it for me.

Don't know whether to listen to the UK or US version, ended up listening to the deluxe version, since it has both of the tracks. I don't really like the tracks, so I'll give it a three star. Guitar was good though.

No me termina de volver loco, creo que me gustó más Electric Laydyland. Cuando se pone muy ruidoso me termina aburriendo.

Psychedelic 60s at its finest. Purple Haze a great opener, some songs hit and miss but overall I enjoyed

i'm experienced in a variety of things

Charismatic.

Somewhat rambly, but kepte engaged all the way through

I was already familiar with 4 of 11 songs on the album. the rest didnt impress enough to get into my psyche. overall, i was kind of disappointed. i dont know if we stand on the shoulders of giants or maybe i need better historical context, but i feel like there was better pyshodelic going on. disreali gears for example, but for the period and writing speed maybe that wouldnt be possible without this album first. also theres better hendrix than the four popular songs from this album.

Feels like he wants to focus on both guitar and song, which leads to both sounding secondary somehow. No doubt a guitar virtuouso, but some lyrics could use work. Nonetheless I enjoyed most songs a lot, and none were bad, 6-7/10.

Solid. Guitar work is great. Unfortuantely a bit long for me.

Fire was good, the album is better than I am rating it

Musically, i love this. Lyrically, he seems obsessed about women being unfaithful. I dunno. I don't want to rate albums. Everything gets a three. Because i am being forced.

feel like its not my usual but i do feel like a music person listening

didn’t click for me immediately 6/10

Non ho vogliaaa

Lyrics: 2/5 Music: 4/5 Production: 3/5 Cohesiveness: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 Stand out songs: Manic depression Can you see me Love or confusion

Absolutely hell yes

iconic

jimi is cool and talented but these songs don't do anything for me. the hits are the hits but I don't think anything of the album tracks

這張專輯聽起來並沒有特別的感覺,但節奏算是很喜歡,有搖滾也有抒情。

loved listening to this front to back for the first time. i've always liked most hendrix i've heard but i've never had a phase of really seeking out his music. lots of familiar hits on this album. red house stuck out to me and was one i hadn't heard before

Jimi Hendrix can be overplayed but these songs are killer. May this be Love is a favorite and the Wind Cries Mary. You can really hear how he influenced punk rock later in the decade and guitar rock in general. good album.

It’s better than Electric Ladyland, but I’m learning that I’m not as excited by Hendrix as I once was. I recall being in awe of him as a teen, but after completing the second of his albums via this project, his music just doesn’t speak to me any more. I’m can’t quite put my finger on the reason why.

Very interesting and a staple, but I wouldn’t go back to it unless very high, so enjoyed it less but amazing piece ! Also very long ! But some great standouts. Can’t criticise Hendrix

The first band t-shirt I ever owned was a Jimi Hendrix one. Not sure why exactly. I really only knew the hits when I bought it and I was much more into Dinosaur Jr and the Pixies and Happy Mondays at the time anyway. This may be the first ever I have listened to one of his albums back to front. It's nice. It's got some of the hits I did know back then and some other stuff that is a bit trippier. The psychedelic side occasionally seems more important than the writing of actually catchy songs but those hits are indeed really really good.

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a Hendrix album in full. Of course I know of him but I don’t think I’ve ever sought out a song of his and listened from start to finish. There’s no doubt of recognizing his incredible talent and immense influence. Something I hate to admit is that I didn’t obsess over the album as much as I might have. I don’t think it clicked with me as I thought it would have, but in no way am I discrediting him.

Definitely an experience

nice guitar for ambiance but not for me

You had to be there

Ok sorry I can see the technical excellence of this and the historical importance its just so damn long and a bit repetitive

I’ve had some longstanding beliefs towards Jimi Hendrix, and I tried to put them aside for my listening of “are you experienced”. I’ve always thought he was a brilliant guitar player for his era, certainly ahead of the times stylistically. There’s legends that his guitar playing live was so incredible that it through Eric Clapton into a rage, which is a hilarious mental image. Beyond that I’ve always found his vocal style to be incredibly stale and one dimensional. His lyricism is on par for the genre and time period, no more, no less, in my opinion. Certainly nothing mind blowing or universe shattering. Upon completion of this album, I really struggle to change a single one of those beliefs. It’s fine. It’s groovy, it’s psychedelic, and the musical style was inarguably influential on thousands of artists. But to me it’s just.. kinda boring. I think the flat vocals are really what bury my interest. “The Wind Cries Mary” would be my favourite track from the record if I was forced to pick, but I can’t see myself listening to any part of this album again if I can help it. I recognize the contributions to rock n roll, I recognize the talent of Hendrix. At the same time, I recognize that this is not for me. 3*

Jimi Hendrix is obviously a virtuosic guitar player and overall, this is a strong debut album. I think it could be a little shorter, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would considering my general feelings about 60s psychedelic rock. I think the way Hendrix incorporates blues into his rock n roll is both more creative and more genuine than most of his peers, which I appreciate. I also liked the more subdued numbers on this album, specifically “May This Be Love” and his rendition of “The Wind Cries Mary”. The favorite track by far was “Third Stone From the Sun” - it’s a bit jammy, quite jazzy, and the recurring melody is beautiful. The mixing on this album was frustrating throughout… it sounded almost like a live album and the vocal track sounded a bit muddy or just didn’t stand up to the instrumentals very well. I think there’s also just a couple duds. “Foxey Lady”, for instance, is a track I think could’ve been cut at no loss to the album. Overall, this is a cut above the standard for 60s psychedelia in my opinion with some small, interesting creative choices throughout. I waffled between 3 and 4 ⭐️ here, but considering “Third Stone From the Sun” is the only track I’d really seek out again, I gotta go with 3 ⭐️. 7/10

I have heard a the best songs on this album already on THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE There were no surprises, solid album.

Wonderful artist I'm glad to be able to hear his work, he spoke the language of the guitar

All time great greatest hits, but album to album i bounce off a lot of songs.

It's fun, a bit noodle-y, probably more impactful in it's time

Too much for me.

experimental in an era where psychedelics were the rage and to be able to stand out makes Jimi one of the best to ever do it with the backwards guitar.

Interesante, es definitivamente un clásico del rock y tiene sentido el nivel de reverencia pero no me resulta interesante más allá

Half the songs on this are legendary, maybe more than half. There was a time I found this amazing, but I just rarely find myself wanting to listen to it now. In part, I think it's the sound quality. I dunno man.

Its interesting that for as huge of a cultural icon that Jimi is, I didn't really know many of his songs. It was nice to experience them for the first time. The album has the personality and power I wanted from some of the other albums on this list. May This Be Love is a standout for me. Its gentle in a beautiful way. Probably a hot take though - the second half has some forgettable songs (Tracks 9-13). Album feels too long.

I wanted to love this. The guitar was great, but it didn't have any songs I wanted to listen to again. Would put on for background rock n roll.

gran disco, pero justo en esta época no estoy en esa onda

Funky, raw, and not as great sober. If I were tripped out on drugs this would probably be epic. Still very good but not my go to.

I don't live today is my fav on this

Decent.

Opening song being “foxy lady” was my favourite added it was in THAT scene in Wayne’s World. However the rest of the songs started to sound the same, but some bright spots being “Fire” and “Purple Haze” as they were faster tempo and shorter than the others. Wasn’t a fan of “Are you experienced?” as the last few minutes it just sounded like a lot of unorganised noice which I know Hendrix is known for that but it is always for me.

Magnificent, but..... I've always found his genius is best in very small doses. Virtuosity, yes. Original, self taught and much imitated, and I've owned the album for 30 years, but it's too cataclysmic for "listening" . It demands a lot of the listener. In the end very hard to rate. Essential listening or viewing yes. It belongs here, but I tasted only a few tracks before putting it away again.

The well known songs were absolute bangers, but I just couldn't get the rest of the album. It wasn't bad at all - just had no spark like the singles did Was a bit let down to be honest 3 ⭐️

I'm very familiar with these songs and I guess this album. It's much, much more interesting than Bold as Love. I don't play guitar so I don't jizz my pants over the mere mention of Hendrix. All in all it's good, I just can't get myself to care.

fun piece of influential rock history

El icónico álbum del trio de Hendrix , Psicodelico y Ácido. Hey Joe es mi preferida, esas vibes melancólicas que transmiten con esa ambientación Psicodelica.

The songwriting and playing is undeniable, but I think this is one album that would actually benefit from a mono mix.

Points off for shooting women down. Hey Jude, more like hey Joe you shot your woman down.

Good Hendrix stuff.

Some nice classic rock tunes here. Favourite tracks: Purple Haze, Manic Depression, I Don't Live Today, The Wind Cries Mary, Fire, Foxey Lady.

cozy album full of guitar

Bit rough around the edges.

Honestly no idea how to react 😭

Not bad. Groundbreaking stuff but I dunno if it's aged well

-zanimljiv panning

Great ideas and debut. However, sounded too monotonous for my ears that love changes

Good album

It’s good, but not any standout tracks for me. Lots of great guitar, but not a mega click.

It was good, very guitar-y though.

Undoubtedly an all time classic but not one I love.

some legendary songs on this one, but overall a bit monotonous

Meh, it's fine I guess. If we were still in the 60s this might have been new or subversive, but it has been comprehensively surpassed in every way by modern acts. I'm also not a fan of blues/soul music.

I definitely understand why this is regarded as one of the greatest rock albums of all time. The instrumentation (especially guitar work) on this is insanely good. That being said, I prefer Jimi's later work—it seems more polished as opposed to some messy, unfinished cuts on this album. By the time I got to Foxey Lady I was getting really tired. It's definitely not something I'd listen to again as a whole, but I understand and appreciate the significance it has for the genre. Individual tracks deserve all the acclaim they got. Highlights: Purple Haze, Hey Joe, May this be love, The Wind Cries Mary, Third Stone from the sun, Stone Free

Must I? Yes, I must. It actually is an easy listen to and goes by quickly though the tracks do have a droning, repetitive quality that I've never cared for. I appreciate his talent and influence on rock. Without this, would we have SRV? Prince? Jam bands? I think not. Worth a listen. It was released in 1967 (the year I was born!) in the UK BEFORE the US which is interesting.

Can't deny the R&B influence, nor the talent on the guitar despite not liking all the jamming. Nonetheless, his legacy was stunted by his drug use and death. There is a lot of be said for the longevity of your work which Hendrix doesn't have, so ultimately his greatness is diminished by his flash in the pan existence. 3/5

Crazy this came out in the 60’s

The album has some good beginnings but overall it doesn't overwhelm me.

It gets old after a while

Raw bluesey iterations and drums Going wild. At times à bit annoying. But still good.

its good. not my favorite but revolutionary for sure. Favorite Tracks - Hey Joe

Classic Hendrix. Always a timeless listen.

Some classics here, but not my favourite.

If I had a nickel for every time I listen to an album and it pops up on the generator the following day, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Muy largo. Guitarreo. Rollo.

First Jimi album on here for me, and an iconic one. Not necessarily my type of album, but I acknowledge the iconic nature of it, especially for its time. 3* Highlights: the wind cries mary, foxey lady

Despite being recognizable differences between international and North American releases, hearing a reissue with an extended runtime by combining all released songs for the album doesn’t feel as bad as it might with a different group, especially because, despite never listening to an album before now, it’s hard for me, a guitarist who pales in comparison to Hendrix, not to respect the man in question. I can’t say I think an extended runtime makes for good album listening personally, creating as good of a flow as smashing all songs together into a single form could, but it doesn’t create a time capsule that’s pretty good all the same.

Slightly disappointed with this one. Not bad though

3,5 stars ;)

I´m always struggling with Jimi Hendrix. Of course there is his outstanding, groundbreaking guitarplay. But at the other hand the music is too much sixties for me and his vocals are also not my favour. The rating-task becomes even more confusing with all the different editions.

This guy likes the guitar a lot. Cool to hear it but not really my cup of tea

Some good songs

I kind of like Foxy Lady, Fire, Third Stone from the Sun, Purple Haze

I’m starting to suspect that for many of the renowned 60s musicians I’m going to remain impressed at their impact but not necessarily love their work. This has sick guitar riffs. A couple of songs are great. But I’m never going to intentionally listen to the full album ever again. 3/5

Seems badly in need of a remaster, but it gas a few good songs.

0 songs added 7.1

It's okay.

Listened to the UK version because it's in the book. Watched his gf's titties because they're in the book Fine, but not my taste. Got me curious enough to hear the songs from the NA version Nah, I don't like them, NA version would be a 2. Fav song: I Don't Live Today

I sometimes like backwards instruments, but I thought it sounds choppy here. It's good to experiment though. We all know Jimi Hendrix was an excellent guitar player, but the songs weren't. They're fine.

Did not enjoy songs that I didn’t know

Not a huge Hendrix fan, the mix of the music makes it seem old. I like the skill of Jimi's guitar but that is about it.

Before listening to the whole album I only knew the Hendrix hits - Purple Haze, Foxy Lady, etc. Lots of interesting/technical things happening across songs but some (Third Stone from the Sun) were a bit too experimental for me. Standout new to me song: May This Be Love

Overall good, just not quite my thing.

Good guitar playing.

Had only a passing exposure to Hendrix previously, and didn’t expect to car for it that much, but surprisingly it actually caught my attention.

I like it but not my favorite. 3/5

i like "Hey Joe", "Stone Free", and "Remember"

Awesome listen but very 1 dimensional, I think it doesn’t adjust to modern ears as well as it should, as in it sounds old, still great

I liked it but struggled to get through it, I’d imagined the youth of the time listening to it and am surprised at how a lot of them turned out lol

Listened to it on the way home and while I was cleaning up, good background music but it did get kind of repetitive. I thought a lot about the teens of the time period listening to it though, it’s wild to think that his music was so radical compared to todays stuff

Manic Depression is just a really fun song. May This Be Love is a nice pace changer where it comes in the track listing. Red House rules as Blues Guitar Rock

3 songs to listen and enjoy. The rest, just another rock album

Me gusta mucho la caratula del disco. Esta bien, para mi gusto como 3 estrellas creo.

It was alright, liked the beginning more. I'd say more but I'm writing this in a restaurant.

chaotic

Jimi!!! Enough said

Another one that I knew many of the hits from, but never gave the whole thing a listen. There are some great songs on here especially in the second half, but it is a bit long. My last few albums were considerably shorter. Things started to blend a bit but could just be the mood I'm in (its Friday, I'm distracted)

hans nöd würkli gfühlt

The hits are good, some of the other songs are as well. It’s like 30 minutes too long. Record really is a slog after Foxey Lady.

pretty good. sounds more standard than i imagine it was at the time, but it still has some real rippers on it. I like Third Stone from the Sun the best.

I have a renewed appreciation for Hendrix after this album, even the non-hits have something cool about them even though they're definitely not as rad as the hits are. This seems like a prime example of psychedelic rock, and it seemed to pioneer, timewise. That said, I def have to be in a particular mood to want to listen to the whole album. Felt like work finishing it.

Gut. Könnte kürzer sein, hat einige Füller. Purple Haze

I had not heard this album before but I’ve been waiting to listen to Jimi Hendrix. It sure does cover the sound of psychedelic rock. There weren’t a lot of songs that stood out to me in any way which makes me relate this album to background music. However, there were some songs I liked better than others. Those are: Fire, 51st Anniversary, and Red House. There’s nothing wrong with the album, just let down that it wasn’t revolutionary. I think I will listen to more of Jimi Hendrix just because he is so famous in the music pioneer world.

It’s ok.

J’aime beaucoup la musique d’Hendrix, mais pas au point d’apprécier ses albums en totalité. Les bangers sont incroyable, mais le filler experimental entre eux me tape rapidement sur les nerfs

Hmmmmm. Nicht meine Zeit.

Veel luisterplezier beleefd

Classic Jimi

Was p good

It wasn't my taste but I liked it

While Jimi Hendrix is undoubtedly a master on the guitar I found listening to a whole album of his a little less enjoyable that I thought it would be.

Taylor Swift was right when she said I don’t have to pretend to like acid rock.

I’m writing this review at least 2 weeks after I listened to it. I didn’t have any strong opinions on it the first time, so I wanted to listen again to really give it a chance. But since then, I just haven’t felt the desire to go back. I’ll just give it a perfectly average rating. I don’t even remember which songs I liked very much. Pretty forgettable. 5/10 Top 1: 1. Purple Haze

This was fine. There's no doubting Hendrix's skill and how he influenced music, but this album disappeared into the background and nothing stuck in my head immediately after it ended other than Purple Haze and Foxey Lady since I was already very familiar with them.

It is rare for me to prefer live recordings, however there are some musicians where their magic truly only thrives when they aren't confined by the studio. Sometimes, though, you have to appreciate that you have anything by the artist to gnaw on.

Love the first five songs

Classic, great, very very good rock

Solid album. No real standouts for me, honestly. Just solid play throughout. Guitar, drums, and bass all slap. They all get their time to shine which I like. I honestly expected to like this a bit more, especially because I listened during a run where I can focus a bit more.

Static and uncontrolled elements lead to an OK rating.

Tbh I like bold as love better

There are some 5-star songs here obviously but this album is like ten songs too long

Few great songs (Hey Joe, Purple Haze, are you experienced en Foxey Lady). Rest is wel innovatief maar spreekt me wat minder aan

Pretty groovy. A classic for sure.

Enjoyable but not really my cup of tea

This album came pretty soon after the previous one i rated, but that being said this album was also pretty good. I actually think Electric Ladyland was better, the songs seemed to have a bit more life to them. Just listening to him play guitar is amazing and so nice to hear though no matter what song it is.

All around classic. Well familiar with the album already.

Nice instrumentals Nice guitar bends New kind of (psychedelic) roch with jazz i've never heard

Fun. Knew more of it than I realised.

Pretty classic, trippy, bluesy rock & roll.

Enjoyable album. Felt very much like the epitome of 70's psychedelic guitar. Really enjoyed the sound of the solos, but not a huge fan of the vocals.

I love Jimi. Big but. I prefer Electric Ladyland. I feel like I enjoy listening to his songs in isolation and I can't take a full album at once. Probably a light 6/10

It's Jimmy Hendrix Why is the production so bad? Drums all over the shop

:) but long

If you like classic rock this is gonna be excellent. There’s really no bad songs. The songs that stood out most to me r purple haze, hey joe and are you experienced.

Day 5 of 1001 Albums You Need to Hear Before You Die: Are You Experienced - Jimi Hendrix I can't say I've ever really listened properly to Jimi so this was a new experience for me. Very psychedelic feel which for me can go one of two ways. A passionate, powerful and energised album with insane guitar work. However, this is no real flow to the album, the songs have just been shoved together. I wish the vocals were a bit louder and the songs a little less repetitive. Favourite Songs - Hey Joe, May This Be Love, Fire, Foxey Lady

Some great songs and then a few alright ones which dragged it down to a 3

A few stone-cold classics, lots of filler

Huge fan of jimi Hendrix - but not sure I love all of this album

Man, I wanna start off by saying there is absolutely nothing wrong with this album. It's technically great. His guitar playing is otherworldly sometimes and his contributions to music are unquestionable. This just isn't my jam. I'd not turn any of it off, but I wouldn't intentionally go and put it on either.

Love the guitar & instrumentation- I get the hype behind it from an instrumental perspective. Jimi as a singer just doesn't do a ton for me. Highlights: Purple Haze, Hey Joe, May This Be Love

-um jimi hendrix and that guitar are CRAZY -purple haze is a good song i see why this album is a HUGE deal -and a guitar solo is gonna hit for me every time -favorites: love and confusion -the guitar is really the star of this album -the lyrics aren’t super my thing -jimi hendrix is very much a legend, but this album itself personally is getting a 3 from me

Far be it from me to ever besmirch the great name of Jimi Hendrix. His highs are extremely high here, but I snoozed through a lot of the album. "Hey Joe" and "The Wind Cries Mary" are all-timers, but I didn't really connect with anything beyond the songs everybody knows. I'd love to give it an extra star, but there's just too much there that doesn't need to be there.

This album was really repetitive but there is no doubt that Jimi Hendrix is amazing at guitar

All love for Jimi and this is as clear an expression for the importance of listening context as any, but I didn't vibe with this one today. It was very much on in the background I must admit, but in any sense I find it hard to really engage with this style and this one felt extra jammy. All the skill on show and I know this is just taste, so I'm going middle of the road. Fave track: Manic Depression

Ei tästä voi olla pitämättä, vetää mukaansa eikä pysähdy hetkeksikään

Hendrixin kitaranikkarointia, sitä psykerockia

Second Hendrix album I’ve had after ‘Axis: Bold As Love’, and I must say I liked that better than this. It just feels more complete and better put together in a way that ‘Are You Experienced’ doesn’t, good as a large part of it is. Meanwhile Right Said Fred says Hi.

The common factor among Hendrix's releases is how effortless all of them sound, as if this music spontaneously emerged from the vacuum and is now winding its way into your ears. It's easy to forget just how much of himself Jimi is giving to guitar and how insanely difficult this style of fast but lyrical playing can be. Not every track on this LP specifically shines with individual personality like some of the other Hendrix albums, but the overall ebb and flow from lick to lick is enough to carry the LP a good deal. Always excited to see one of these come up in the project, as it means a guaranteed good listen and (usually) good day.

Good album, enjoyable

This feels very long. But not in good way. There are so many hits here it's impossible to deny this records impact. And I like a lot of it. But it's just sooooo long.

Jimi is a good fund frolic through the era of psychedelic substances. I liked the craziness of Third Stone From The Sun.

It’s good! Production is trash but it’s a hundred years old, what can ya do

Too tired. Can't enjoy this today..

overrated

i was looking forward to this album but it just wasn’t really my thing. not bad though

Some great tracks.

Electric guitar played by a true master. Bare bones in retrospect but still powerful

Jimi is natuurlijk een god voor veel mensen, maar ik geloof er niet helemaal in. Boeiend om de invloed die had hij, maar uit mezelf zet ik dit niet zomaar op.

One of those albums ruined by being too popular. The good songs are all massively overplayed and the not so good songs are not so good.

Bill å chill å ill

its okay for what it is

Big singles off this, some filler and the song May This Be Love sounds like all three guys are playing a different song at the same time! The version I'm listening to is the expanded version so more tracks than it should have so it's hard to rate, do you use the UK version, US or expanded version?

Muy largo. Guitarreo. Rollo.

Decent

I get drugs now. Some songs songs are 5s, others are 1s.

Like a greatest hits but went on a bit

M: 3 O:4

Jimi Hendrix was a good guitar and his work in this album is nice.

Enjoyed this more than Electric Ladyland for sure. Purple Haze and Fire are always good. Seemed to have more direction or less fat or something.

Yes, he tore up the rule book, yes he was the finest guitarist of his (and possibly any) generation, yes he wrote some banging tunes, but come on, by any measure this is not a truly great album. It's a remarkable debut, but especially in it's original UK release track listing it's missing the most banging tunes which had already been put out as scouting singles. No Hey Joe, no Wind Cries Mary and whilst the album has some magnificent raw guitar riffs, there's really, when you drill down into it, a great deal of filla. This doesn't flow as an album and it's not wall to wall bangers. Sorry. It's bang average, especially by Jimi's standards.

мне кажется, так и не нашла нормальную версию, слушала какие-то каверы и бутлеги. ну я не большой фанат гитары

This is one I grew up with on vinyl and eventually bought my own copy on vinyl. It is a very important and solid album. The Wind Cries Mary is my personal favorite as it's a little more harmonious than some of the others. That's my favorite Jimi.. The man who gives us his luxurious voice accompanied by groovy guitars. I resonate more with this Jimi than the screaming guitars and feedback or the quickfire pace of Manic Depression or Third Stone from the Sun. I once had a very serious head-on collision to Watchtower and to be honest even though I have nothing against it, I really haven't listened too much to his music since that time-- at 15. Just because it brings back that horrific crash.

I know this is controversial but I’ve never been a Hendrix fan. I’m not super into the 60s psychedelic sounds generally. But I can appreciate his artistry and skill.

Bestes Hendrix Album bisher!

'SCUSE ME WHILE I KISS THIS GUY! WOOOO Oh and there's 10 more songs on this album that I have almost no recollection of. "Third Stone From The Sun" had a kick-ass instrumental, I'll give it that. I like Jimi Hendrix when we fully embraces that he's the best guitar player in history and goes full ham (so the entirety of Electric Ladyland). This album mostly seemed kind of empty. Probably just me.

Well, what an a incredible album, but still one that I don't especially enjoy. However, the non-hit, non-bluesy ones (it should be established now I how feel about the blues sound) were really cool, especially Are You Experienced. I can see why Jimi is a big deal. But I'm good.

I much prefer Electric Ladyland instead. There were more familiar tracks in this album but it's alright. Maybe it'll grow on me? Not sure though.

Rock, kinda funk - good but not my vibe

Not exactly my vibe but cool Fav song: I don’t live today

When the boomers of the time said he was possessed by Satan, maybe they were onto something

Favorite songs: Purple Haze, Manic Depression, Hey Joe, The Wind Cries Mary, Highway Chile, Red House I was surprised by how good the drumming was on some songs. Playing around with the dynamic range on songs like I Don’t Live Today was pretty cool

Musically brilliant, very talented gentlemen. Would probably listen to a few songs individually but found it hard to stomach the entire album as felt samey

I can now say that I am indeed Experienced. Hendrix's debut is a classic for a reason. Melding fusions of R&B, Jazz, and a bit of Blues Rock and creates a wholly new style of psychedelic & harder rock. Guitar work throughout is obviously top notch and can't be dismissed, as anything but genius. Best: Purple Haze; Foxy Lady Worst: Third Stone From The Sun 3.5 Stars

one of the classic rock albums just not my taste though 3.5

Альбом не мой, хотя некоторые композиции и понравились. На любителя.

Best three piece in the world possibly. BUT not the greatest songwriter by a country mile. Jimi should have just covered songs for his short life. These just don’t stand the test of time lyrically. As instrumentals they are brilliant. Cover art : Jimi asked for the original cover to be changed to this for US release. Don’t love it but it captures the era and movement and probably the state of his mind at times.

I know this is a blind spot but I just don’t get much out of listening to Hendrix at all.

It's alright...

Debut from Jimi Hendrix: it has some of the classic Hendrix songs but I prefer Electric Lady Land. This is quintessential psychedelic rock but I am not that fuzzed, also there's quite a few fillers on the album and I would likely be more excited if it was more clear cut.

She wasn't experienced, Jimi. She was very much under-experienced as you well know. I'm surprised you got away with it. You knew her age. Fuckin' disgusting.

Class banter that lad

This guy was pretty good at guitar

A few stone-cold classics, lots of filler

some classics

Wayne's World flashbacks. Bangers (Foxy Lady, Wind Cries Mary, Fire, Manic Depression, Purple Haze) alone are worth four stars, but it's down to three cos of the filler.

Muy largo. Guitarreo. Rollo.

meh, totally not my cup of tea

Guitar 5, Lyrics 2.

Revolutionary in its time, and packed with so many of his big hits. Not for me but I appreciate it

Good guitar sounds

Decent album. Enjoyed a few of the songs but I tend to tire of Jimi Hendrix. Purple Haze is super iconic though. 3.5/5

I liked this one a lot less than the other two Jimi Hendrix albums we've had. It felt a bit too chaotic and not entirely fleshed out to me. Just not really convincing.

It's nice, although I prefer the other Hendrix album we had, couldn't get into this one as much

Father of todays guitarists. Not totally my taste, but legendary

I never really got Hendrix.

Made car speakers very static filled and was not awful but not that entertained.

Some awesome songs, but lots of filler imo. Though I did not listen to the back half ..

Decent album. Will probably listen again.

I feel like I need to be stoned to listen to this. It's not easy to have on as background music while I do other work.

Fantastic use as an expose of Hendrix’s guitar style. Good for laying back and listening.

It's okay. I like Jimi's confidence, and some moments here are great. Some songs remind me of great bar crawls we had. But as an album this thing is rather repetative.

Gillar även The Wind Cries Mary. Third Stone from the Sun är spacead och spännande. Tyvärr lite för många låtar på främst A-sidan som inte blir bättre än okej. 3.5/5 Bästa låt: Hey Joe.

I've never really listened to Hendrix beyond what you hear in movies/pop culture/the few songs that get radio airtime. Almost every track feels like it's about 4 hours long, some interesting musical progression, but largely it feels like a product of its time, maybe it's the Seinfeld effect in that I've heard so much of what Hendrix influenced, that this now doesn't fit where it should in the history of rock/music. I can understand the love people have for this, but maybe it's beyond my smooth monkey brain.

This album is like Tea; it's not my cup of it, but I understand why people like it. I'm not a personal fan of the nitty gritty guitar noises, but I know some do. Favorite track: Stone Free

Not my cup of tea

Okay so, the thing is, I find it hard to understand the appeal of guitar solos, I would like to be able to enjoy them but I just feel nothing when I hear one. Do other people feel something or is it more about abstractly appreciating the skill of the guitar player? I know intellectually that Hendrix was one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived, and listening to it I can hear it's really fast and complex and would take a very very long time to get the hang of -but it doesn't communicate anything to me when i'm listening to it. Maybe the reason I don't respond in the way that other people do is because I don't play guitar and I'm not really musical. Would like to know other people's thoughts on this.

Can an album be too well loved? No doubt that the songs are fantastic but when I listen to them I can just hear echoes of guitar enthusiasts singing along with every riff and that spoils it for me.

I had forgotten that I quite like this album. Lots of twiddly guitars and smooth voices.

Probably Hendrix’ best. Many very good songs, surrounded by too much fluff.

A real early classic rock album that inspired many artists and bands over the years. Very repetitive however, and didn’t have the same effect on me as it had on so many other listeners clearly.

Pretty cool

i quite enjoyed the album

Grandes temas con algunos mas suaves. Curioso escuhar algunos originales que ya habían versionado.

Really great album. Really like "May this be love (waterfall)"... However, it's not very likely that I will listen to this album more than once every couple of months.

A true classic.

Couple bangers, a lot of stuff that I found bland

I was expected something better. 3.5

To experienced to my taste, I need an acid!

This had more hits than I remember. I've never listened to it all the way through before. What am I a fucking hippy?

Never really listened to Jimi but i know he is very highly regarded.. Sounds very trippy. I know Hendrix did psychedelics so it's expected. After: not really my cup of tea. Nice songs but nothing memorable. 5/10 respectfully

I like it 3/5

It was good

Groundbreaking yet in total a bit underwhelming, not my favourite style of rock so the spark didn't fly

You know, Hendrix.

this was sick. obviously like one of the most talented guitarists of all time. it's a little much when it's a full album of it but i think it'd be a great kinda badass driving album

Heftig elguitar, blues rock, spektakulært

some nice guitar licks, but not really my vibe

ir's okay

Enkel golden oldies

I imagine this felt groundbreaking when it came out, but I wasn't that interested

not my fav type of music, nor my fav album so far. would i listen to it again? maybe some songs, but i wouldnt willingly play this album and listen to it fully again.

Really want to enjoy this more than me even gave it several listens to see if my opinion but unfortunately it just didnt hit for me

Le tenía más fe. Me aburrí un poco.

This is actually so fucking bad I never want to hear this again and I’m only on the second song

The Jimi Hendrix Special is burying 20 minutes of good music inside of an hour full of noise.

It’s ok It’s fine, don’t love it but understand why people do. Favourite track: Hey Joe

Сара 2 Марко 2,5

not for me

Not my cup of tea

Not my type.

its fine nothing special. lemon demon clasic tho

dropped this :/

Couple of classics but a number of 70s psychedelic filler.

Наверное, есть ценители, но я не среди них. Вообще не понял уникальности

1) Purple Haze - pretty sure i've heard this song before, the guitar riff at the beginning is familiar. feels like listening to the radio at that one cabin where all we had was classic rock radio. 2) Manic Depression - sounded fine. nothing much of note 3) Hey Joe - i like the guitar in this one. does some fun stuff. classic song about person getting gun and causing problems. 4-5) nothing to say 6) I Don't Live Today - i like this one a bit more. 7-8) nothing to say 9) Third Stone From The Sun - im sorry i just dont like this one that much. it's like. whatever. 10) Foxey Lady - can he stop saying it like that. i dont trust him near a woman i think 11) Are You Experienced - poses the fascinating question "what if you could become un-experienced". thats about the only thing it has going for it. roll credits song 12) Stone Free - let me in there. i'll hit the cowbell. make me a rock star baby 13) 51st Anniversary - really upset because there's these two bits of this song that sound REALLY GOOD and the rest of it is just. whatever. (0:59-1:10) (2:06-2:30) 14-17) nothing of note to say this just didn't really hit for me im going to be honest. i can definitely see the market for it, but im not a beer drinking man out on the sun fishing so as it stands im good.

Got bored half way through, all became very samey

Fun and playful, experimental?

Not my style

idk not tuff 9 april 2026

This time i will say that i did not connect with him, not really into this kinda music. I think i am pretty tired too. I loved the instruments in this album though so thats my 2 stars.

Honestly I expected it to be way worse but it’s not bad for what it was trying to do, whatever that is.
