Tom Waits
1/5
I never want to hear this man again in my life
Terrible. Absolutely terrible
It was like bad stand up comedy over a jazz band. But he wasnt funny, and even his talking voice grated on me. And the audience laughing made it even worse, because his ramblings weren't even funny
I was begging for this one to end

Not necessarily bad - just plain and not really anyones favourite

Massive Attack on my ears more like
Their cover of Light My Fire was a hate crime

Sounds like a bunch of children were let loose with instruments and a sound effect machine. And to top it off you have the mumbling and random shouting which sounds like someone on a drug binge. Couldn't distinguish any of the songs from eachother. 36 mins of assault to my ears
Don't listen with headphones - save yourself from the offensive screeches.
The worst song for me was "Sentimental Journey" - what I imagine the inside of a microwave sounds like. Also includes birds/clown horn and bottles being smashed repeatedly. Lyrics include - " Table. Chairs. TV. Books. Other stuff". To the 5 (!!!) writers who wrote those lyrics - I hope you didn't give up the day job
Terrible

Sam Cooke

Love his voice. Sounds great live. Liked being able to hear the crowd singing along
4 ⭐️
Roxy Music
4/5
Not what I was expecting. Enjoyed it! Lots of different styles blended on 1 album
4 ⭐️
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Sadly there was too much whining 🙃
4 ⭐️
Muddy Waters
4/5
Really enjoyed this album! Exceeded my expectations
4 ⭐️
Willie Nelson
3/5
Wasn't bad... but his voice doesn't suit the songs 😬
3 ⭐️
John Coltrane
1/5
Oof. I like a bit of jazz but not this
Way too much chaos going on for me to be able to enjoy it. Drums banging everywhere and piano keys getting smashed. I felt an anxiety attack coming on, my body couldn't relax!
1 ⭐️
Fiona Apple
2/5
Boring. Nothing memorable on the album sadly. Didn't really enjoy it either
2 ⭐️
R.E.M.
2/5
Shocked to see this album has a lot of 5 star reviews
A lot of the songs sounded the same. Really don't like the singers whiny voice either
Wouldn't rate it as terrible, but it was bad. Bland to put it nicely. 40 mins of my life I won't be getting back
2 ⭐️
Dusty Springfield
2/5
I really wanted to like this but it was so boring and beige
If all songs sounded like son of a preacher man - the score would have much higher
2 ⭐️
Public Enemy
4/5
Nice upbeat songs! Classic sound, liked the vibes
4 ⭐️
Depeche Mode
2/5
Wasn't sure how I felt about this one for most of the album, but the heavy breathing really sealed the deal for me
Most of the album sounded like one long song, with the monotone voice on top
Very bland. Starting to wonder who came up with this list of 1001 albums and if we should be trusting their choices
2 ⭐️
Leonard Cohen
2/5
Not a fan of the mumbling/talking over the songs
2 ⭐️
Billy Joel
5/5
Thought I was listening to his greatest hits album because every song is a BANGER

Enjoyed this album! Love his voice and the vibes. A classic
4 ⭐️
Machito
4/5
Wasn't sure what to expect going into this one, but I was pleasantly surprised!
4 ⭐️
James Taylor
3/5
Pleasant enough songs but a bit boring on the whole
3 ⭐️
Ramones
4/5
Some classic songs on this album! I've always thought I was born in the wrong era - I should have been jumping about in a sweaty pit at one of their shows
4 ⭐️
Pulp
4/5
Went into this one with low expectations. Really enjoyed it though! Some banging tunes on there
4 ⭐️
Aerosmith
5/5
Wow! First off, love in an elevator is probably my favourite Aerosmith song - so it was already off to a good start
Each song was as good as the next!
Janie's got a gun - also a classic tune that I love
5 ⭐️
Gang Of Four
3/5
This was a bit of a weird one. Some songs I really didn't enjoy. But then other songs I really liked
Hit and miss
3 ⭐️
Muddy Waters
3/5
Pleasant enough, but a bit slow for my liking. Most songs also sounded repetitive
3 ⭐️
The White Stripes
3/5
This is just the type of music I'm usually in to - but I just can't get into this
Wasn't terrible, just a bit meh
3 ⭐️
Bob Dylan
4/5
I'm not the biggest Bob Dylan fan, but I quite enjoyed this album! Loved the harmonica. Most of the songs were upbeat which surprised me
4 ⭐️
Janet Jackson
3/5
An okay album. It didn't do anything for me personally, but it wasn't bad. More of a background noise with the upbeat songs
3 ⭐️
Nick Drake
4/5
I'd never heard of Nick Drake before, but wow what a find! A very good album I really enjoyed!!!
Very high 4 ⭐️
David Gray
3/5
Nice enough album, but nothing too exciting. Will always love Babylon though
Coffee shop music
3 ⭐️
Jean-Michel Jarre
2/5
Reminds me of Ross on friends when he was playing the keyboard. "Wordless sound poems"
The whole album was giving me theme park vibes. Then the 4th track kicked in and I realised its was the actual song from the claw machines at theme parks!
No thanks, not for me
2 ⭐️
Jimmy Smith
3/5
It was alright. Had it on as background music - it wasn't bad, but just not my sort of thing
3 ⭐️
Oasis
5/5
So many of these songs have been the soundtrack to my summers. Driving with the windows down and music loud. Good vibes
Definitely (maybe) a 5 ⭐️ album
Guided By Voices
4/5
I went into this one expecting it to be shite
Surprisingly I really enjoyed it! The songs are very choppy and almost seem unfinished. But the snippets of songs we get were very enjoyable! The random snoring also contributed to it losing a star
4 ⭐️
Beyoncé
2/5
I have many thoughts. But before the haters come for me - Beyonce has an amazing voice, I just don't like her music
This was just bad. The rapping (not sure I can call it that?) was not good. I grew up listening to destiny's child, and I think Beyonce has some great songs from earlier in her career. But this album is a big no for me. I'd have enjoyed it more if she sang ballads rather than this generic radio crap
Everytime I start getting into a song, the beat changes and it seems like a complete different song. Odd choice
"I sneezed on the beat and the beat got sicker" - sounds like something a 13 year old would come up with. Speaking of the lyrics - so many people co-writing, and thats the best they could come up with?
I hated drunk in love when it came out, and can confirm I still hate it now
Flawless was particularly offensive on my ears. Terrible
The only song I like is XO - and only because I love the John Mayer cover and I thought it was his original song
Also the thought of her getting it on with Jay Z makes me unwell. I don't want to hear about it (blow comes to mind)
The whole album seems like she's overcompensating and telling everyone how in love she is and how much sex she's getting. Like we all don't know her husband was cheating the whole time
2 ⭐️
Michael Jackson
3/5
Started off well, but I got bored towards the end. Songs were dancy - I liked the vibe. It just seemed to slow down towards the later songs
3 ⭐️
The Dave Brubeck Quartet
3/5
Not my type of thing, but it was alright. More like background music
3 ⭐️
Drive Like Jehu
2/5
Bad. Bad. Bad
Offensive guitar screeches and noises that didn't sound good together. And then a random 10 seconds of good riffs and back to noise
2 ⭐️
The Prodigy
3/5
It was alright. Would have enjoyed it more if there were less instrumental tracks
3 ⭐️
Jane Weaver
3/5
The album started off well but then got boring as each song passed. By the end I'd lost interest. It wasn't bad though
3 ⭐️
Joni Mitchell
2/5
I fell asleep listening to this
It's a shame this album was so bad because the background music is good, and she has a lovely voice
But it feels like she's singing a different tune to the song. And by singing I mean talking over
2 ⭐️
The Teardrop Explodes
4/5
Enjoyed this. Songs were upbeat and very 80s
4 ⭐️
Dire Straits
4/5
There's some classic tunes on here. Overall enjoyed this album!
4 ⭐️
The Style Council
3/5
Well... that was an interesting listen
This album had an identity crisis. The random rap song really threw me off
I enjoyed a few of the songs on there, but also the album had some bad ones. So overall it was alright. Not the worst I've heard
3 ⭐️
Sepultura
3/5
I'd heard of Sepultura and this album before and always thought I wouldn't like it
Turns out I quite enjoyed a lot of it! I'm not really into screamo type music, but the music itself was badass
I found the album too long though, and Canyon Jam was really bad on the ears. That metal scratching sound was so bad. And 13 mins was way too long
3 ⭐️
Black Sabbath
3/5
Thought I was going to love this album, but sadly not
Songs were alright, bit boring and slow for my liking though. I prefer heavier rock songs. It wasn't bad
3 ⭐️
Mike Ladd
2/5
What the fuck was that
2 ⭐️
Death In Vegas
3/5
It was a weird one. But some songs were decent
3 ⭐️
Jorge Ben Jor
4/5
Really enjoyed this one! Loved the vibes. Didn't even care that I couldn't understand a word
4 ⭐️
Nick Drake
4/5
I'd never heard of Nick Drake until starting this process, and this is the 2nd album of his I've had
Really enjoyed this one! Nice chill music, and upbeat
4 ⭐️
The Byrds
4/5
I enjoyed this one. Loved the sound and the vibes
4 ⭐️
Ella Fitzgerald
3/5
Ella Fitzgerald has a beautiful voice, and I like a lot of these songs
But over 3 hours is way too long of an album, and I started feeling bored. Honestly it was feeling like a chore towards the end
So for that reason its a 3 ⭐️
Count Basie & His Orchestra
5/5
Wow - loved this one! Very upbeat, so many instruments, catchy tunes. What a great find!
5 ⭐️
Nina Simone
2/5
I like some Nina Simone songs, but this album wasn't it
The first song was very good, but slowly went downhill. They got boring and all sounded the same. Not memorable in the slightest. I didn't like her voice at all on the slower songs
It's a shame because I was looking forward to this one
2 ⭐️
Tom Waits
1 ⭐️
Guns N' Roses
5/5
Banger after banger! Good stuff
5 ⭐️
The Velvet Underground
5/5
Wow really enjoyed this one!! What a nice surprise
5 ⭐️
George Michael
3/5
If this album was a biscuit, it would be a plain digestive
Not necessarily bad - just plain and not really anyones favourite
3 ⭐️
GZA
3/5
Found this one to be repetitive and boring. Wasn't bad as such, just not my thing. Also didn't like the talking at the start of songs
3 ⭐️
Van Morrison
4/5
A very good live album!!
4 ⭐️
Beatles
5/5
I love The Beatles
So many great songs on this album. Great vibes and a sitar, what more can you want
5 ⭐️
The Band
3/5
Nice chill songs
3 ⭐️
Kraftwerk
2/5
Might have enjoyed that one more if I had been high on crack
But I wasn't. So...
2 ⭐️
Run-D.M.C.
4/5
Good upbeat songs! Very nostalgic
4 ⭐️
Bert Jansch
2/5
Oof. Sadly did not enjoy this one
The off tune guitar strumming and heavy breathing really made it worse. Didn't really like his voice either
Kept waiting for it to end 😩
2 ⭐️
Portishead
2/5
The singer sounds like a ghost
Sounds like the type of music you'd hear coming from a dodgy nightclub. No thanks - avoid
2 ⭐️
Van Halen
4/5
A very enjoyable album
4 ⭐️
10cc
4/5
This was a crazy album but I really liked it! Was a bit all over the place in a good way! Very fun
4 ⭐️
Leonard Cohen
2/5
Ugh
His voice is bad. This is my 2nd album of his and I'm shocked that he made this list not once - but twice at least
The smokers cough type of screaming on "Diamonds in the mine" was enough to drive anyone to insanity
This album really should be a 1 but some of the songs could have been really nice if sung by literally anyone else. The backing vocals also helped bump the rating up a tiny bit
2 ⭐️
Judas Priest
3/5
This is exactly the type of stuff I like listening to - but for some reason it just wasn't clicking for me
Wasn't bad at all, just couldn't get into it
3 ⭐️
Carole King
4/5
Wasn't familiar with Carole King - or so I thought...
I knew and liked a lot of these songs, and never realised who sung them!
A lovely album
4 ⭐️
Morrissey
1/5
I try to seperate the art from the artist, so I went into this one with an open mind
But jesus christ it was bad
The music itself wasnt too bad on some songs, so I did think of giving it another star just for that. But no, his whiny drivel was too much. The lyrics were so bad I can't look past it
"Hey you big fat pig" on the opening track was enough to cement my hatred in this album. Cringiest lyrics ever. And you know he thought he was so clever and edgy writing that
1 ⭐️
Prince
3/5
Feel like I'm missing something with this album, and maybe Prince in general
It was alright. One or two songs I quite enjoyed and that was about it. Never really liked purple rain! Didn't like his screeching though
3 ⭐️
Jerry Lee Lewis
5/5
Wow. He bangs the hell out of that piano!!
Sounds so good live too. Great songs
5 ⭐️
Cee Lo Green
3/5
This was so hit and miss. Lots of bad songs, but then some pretty decent ones
I much prefer his other work. Used to listen to Gnarls Barkley as a kid, and I had The Lady Killer album as a teen. But this wasn't as good
3 ⭐️
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
4/5
I'd never heard of this band or album before, but I quite enjoyed it
Didn't like "next" but there were some songs I really liked and added to my playlist! "Gang bang" and "swampsnake" were highlights
4 ⭐️
2/5
It's not a Yes from me.
Wasn't sure how to rate this one because parts of it were good. But overall, I was begging for the album to end. Songs were way too long. The bird noises at the start threw me off, and theres multiple riffs and genres mashed together on one song. Also wasn't a huge fan of the singers voice. Sorry!
2 ⭐️
Frank Zappa
3/5
Really enjoyed majority of this album, until the end where I absolutely hated the rogue saxophone going wild
Shame because it would have scored higher!
3 ⭐️
Dion
3/5
First half of this album was insanely boring. 2nd half picked up a bit and a handful of songs were decent
Album was way too long for my liking though. Bit of a snooze fest
3 ⭐️
Living Colour
2/5
One or two songs I enjoyed, but the rest of the album was all over the place. A lot of screeching over the music in parts and it felt cringe
Overall bad experience. Won't be listening again
2 ⭐️
Ray Charles
3/5
Nice enough album, but not the best of his
Wish it was a bit more upbeat! Sadly a lot of these songs blended into eachother
3 ⭐️
Animal Collective
3/5
A weird one. Lots of random noise I really didnt like
But then a few of the songs I quite enjoyed. Can't rate it too high though because of the random noises, which is a shame
3 ⭐️
The Kinks
5/5
Always exciting to see a band you like come up on this list!
Really enjoyed this one, and included some classic songs!
5 ⭐️
Fats Domino
4/5
A very nice album with a few songs I recognised
4 ⭐️
Paul Simon
2/5
What was this
Didn't like it - instruments going wild, screeching backing vocals, some sort of talking over the songs? Bad
It got an extra star purely because of You Can Call Me Al and the nostalgia it brought me
2 ⭐️
Slade
4/5
Slade will always be a christmas band to me, so I went into this fully expecting a joke album. Especially with that haircut 🙈
But wow was I wrong! Actually a pretty good album!! Ended up actually knowing a handful songs too. The guys voice I didn't really like though
Slayed? You kinda did
4 ⭐️
White Denim
4/5
Wow what a find! Really enjoyed this album!! A nice indie sound to it - I'd have loved this as a teenager! Which is a shame as this album came out in my peak indie stage of life
A very high 4 ⭐️
The Rolling Stones
4/5
I've never really liked or listened to The Rolling Stones, but this was better than I thought
"Rip This Joint" and "Shine a Light" were highlights
Just wish that I could understand Mick's singing
4 ⭐️
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
I enjoyed this one. A very nostalgic feel to it
Love the fact you can hear different instruments throughout. The piano and the sax parts especially
4 ⭐️
Pretenders
2/5
Didn't like this one at all
The songs themselves weren't bad, some were catchy even. But the off beat talking over the music, the whiny singing and screeching was too much for me. Didn't like her voice sorry to say
2 ⭐️
Cowboy Junkies
3/5
Beautiful voice and I liked the songs
But it was just a bit too slow for me. A few upbeat songs in there and the album would have been much higher
3 ⭐️
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Quite a few classics on this one!
Enjoyed it, but it was a bit long. Would have been more enjoyable without the random whining too
4 ⭐️
Bonnie "Prince" Billy
3/5
Decent album but a bit boring. I liked the alternative sound but it was just a bit too dreary
3 ⭐️
Fela Kuti
4/5
It's albums like this one that I was hoping to find through this site
A very enjoyable album and an even more interesting wiki to go with it! A good find!
4 ⭐️
Neil Young
4/5
Never listened to Neil Young before, and was very pleasantly surprised!
He's not the best singer but this was a beautiful album. Really liked the songs. They had me lost in my own little world for a while
4 ⭐️
T. Rex
3/5
There were 2 or 3 songs I really enjoyed on here
The rest were all repetitive and bland. Wasn't bad but an easily forgetable album
3 ⭐️
Venom
3/5
I weirdly kind of liked this one
Loved the guitars, was really vibin to it. Sadly the guys voice is terrible and the lyrics made me laugh at times. A solid "alright" album
3 ⭐️
David Bowie
1/5
Sounds like I'm on a space ship. No thanks. "What in the world" indeed - my exact reaction
Seems like whoever created this list had the biggest hard on for Bowie, because there is no way he should have multiple albums on this list. Shocking
1 ⭐️
Black Sabbath
5/5
What a way to start an album with them opening tracks!
Iconic riffs, classic tunes - what more do you want 🤘
5 ⭐️
Elvis Costello
3/5
It was alright. Wasn't terrible, songs were ok but didn't really like his voice to be honest
Probably would have scored higher with a different singer
3 ⭐️
Orange Juice
2/5
Generic 80s songs being mumbled by a depressed guy who can't sing
2 ⭐️
Amy Winehouse
5/5
What an album!
I already knew a lot of these songs, and the others were just as good!
Grew up with a lot of these songs, but never truly appreciated how good they were until I was older
5 ⭐️
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
4/5
A fun, upbeat album!
Knew a few of the songs too, quite enjoyed this one
4 ⭐️
Barry Adamson
1/5
To be honest he'd already lost me at "Moss Side". If it was anything like the area it was bound to be bad. And it was
The last track sounded like a poundland James Bond theme
Whoever added this album to the 1001 list needs to give their head a good wobble
1 ⭐️
Sly & The Family Stone
3/5
Good vibes
Music was enjoyable, but every song sounded the same. Became a bit repetitive and too long sadly
3 ⭐️
Jimi Hendrix
3/5
The well known songs were absolute bangers, but I just couldn't get the rest of the album. It wasn't bad at all - just had no spark like the singles did
Was a bit let down to be honest
3 ⭐️
Malcolm McLaren
4/5
I'm slightly lost for words on this one
Weird. Cringe. Laughable. It was all over the place. But I weirdly enjoyed it!
Currently lying in bed rethinking all of my life choices after that album. Wondering why I'm giving it such a high score. Who knows
4 ⭐️
The Human League
2/5
Boring. Monotone. Repetitive
Not for me thanks. But I have to say Don't You Want Me is a banger. Only good song on the album
2 ⭐️
Nas
3/5
Enjoyed a few songs, but also didnt like a few. An alright album
3 ⭐️
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
4/5
Enjoyed this one on the whole
A lot of these songs were so so good, and then I'd get hit with a few bum songs. A shame, but on the whole a good album!
4 ⭐️
Christina Aguilera
2/5
Some of these songs brought back a lot of memories. Summer holidays: on the way to Blackpool in the car for a day out at the theme park. Listening on my mp3 player and singing along out of tune. Life was good
Sadly apart from the singles, the rest of the album was pretty boring and was too long. Some of these songs were absolutely terrible
It gets a star for nostalgia and the fact that dirrty is a banger
2 ⭐️
John Prine
4/5
Even though he doesn't have the greatest voice, I found myself enjoying this album
Loved the guitar and the songs were very catchy
4 ⭐️
The Isley Brothers
5/5
Really loved this one!!
What a good album!!!
5 ⭐️
Jeff Beck
4/5
Enjoyed this one!
Shame it was just a bit too long. Good stuff though
4 ⭐️
CHVRCHES
2/5
This is the first album I've had so far by an artist I've seen live! I saw Chvrches when they opened for Coldplay
The only song I was familiar with was The Mother We Share which I like. The rest aren't very good - some were terrible
And over an hour long? Rough
The male singers songs were much better than the females
Music you'd hear in H&M stores
2 ⭐️
Beastie Boys
1/5
Sounded like a bunch of year 7's showing off and trying to be hard
I never want to hear this album again
1 ⭐️
John Lennon
5/5
Such a good album
Imagine is an all time favourite song. Beautiful
5 ⭐️
Alice Cooper
3/5
Wasn't bad, I just couldn't vibe with it
3 ⭐️
The White Stripes
4/5
Was dreading this one to be honest, after finding the other album of theirs bland
But this one was much better, I liked it! Still don't think it should be on this list though
4 ⭐️
B.B. King
3/5
Nice enough album but it didnt click for me
He sounded very good live though
3 ⭐️
Scritti Politti
3/5
Was expecting this to be way worse than it was considering the average ratings
It wasn't great - didn't like the guys voice and it was a bit cringe. But it was better than a lot of crap I've listened to on here so far
3 ⭐️
The Electric Prunes
2/5
This one was slightly creepy in some parts
2 ⭐️
Taylor Swift
5/5
I was honestly so excited to see this one pop up today because it's my favourite era!! Or as I like to call it - Taylor in her ❄️ era
This is where she peaked for me, and was the last album I properly listened to. I was about 18 when this came out - which was probably her target audience. I get it's not for everyone!
If cheesy pop bangers are your thing you will love this one. What a track list! A lot of big hits on this album! 2 of my all time fave Taylor songs are on this album - Style and Wildest Dreams
Relistening to this album filled me with nostalgia and took me right back to 2014
Fast forward to 2024 and I still listen to these songs - majority of this album very very often. 2 months ago me and my sister went to the eras tour with these songs being the best part of the evening!
Putting my personal feelings about Taylor aside - this album is so so good I can't deny it. I see a lot of negative reviews here purely because of her and not the music. I will forever sing along to these songs as loud as I can and it truly deserves full marks
5 ⭐️
Rush
4/5
Catchy. I liked this one
4 ⭐️
Billie Holiday
1/5
I HATED this one I'm sorry to say!
The songs were quite nice although a bit boring. But her voice was terrible
And it just kept going on and on. Multiple versions of the same songs - it was too much!
I really was begging for this one to end and I struggled getting through it
1 ⭐️
King Crimson
1/5
So many genres - each one of them shite
Didn't manage to nail a single one
1 ⭐️
Kanye West
4/5
Very 2000s sound, I really liked a lot of these songs!
The album was just too long for my liking with all the skits, and some songs were way longer than they needed to be
4 ⭐️
The Young Gods
3/5
Weird album
I've heard worse on here, and to be honest I quite enjoyed the guitar parts
3 ⭐️
MGMT
4/5
I was excited seeing this album pop up. Takes me back to my school days!
Time to Pretend, Kids, Electric Feel - bangers!!!!
Wish the rest of the album had the same energy but it was still a good album
4 ⭐️
Pink Floyd
3/5
Ugh another album that sounds like an alien abduction
I'd never listened to Pink Floyd so wasn't sure what to expect. But going by the ratings on here I had high hopes
Starting with the bad points -
The screeching wailing woman in "The Great Gig In The Sky" ruined the song
All the clock noises in "Time" were like nails on a chalkboard. Awful
Now for the good points -
I did enjoy the male singers voice and the songs without offensive noises. "Us and Them" was a very nice song and I recognised "Money"
I liked the chill guitar songs towards the end of the album and how the songs flowed into each other
I can't rate this album as enjoyable on the whole because the first half was that bad. Which is a shame because the 2nd half was very good
I feel like this album is either overhyped, or the people giving it 5's were high as fuck
3 ⭐️
Method Man
1/5
This was painful
1 ⭐️
Kelela
4/5
Lovely voice and I liked the chilled out vibe
I'd never heard of Kelela but would be interested in hearing some more of her stuff!
4 ⭐️
Solomon Burke
5/5
What a beautiful album!
Loved his voice and the songs
5 ⭐️
Sarah Vaughan
3/5
Incredible voice
It was just lacking something though and I'm not sure what
3 ⭐️
The Modern Lovers
1/5
This was fucking dreadful
1 ⭐️
Elvis Presley
5/5
I knew as soon as I saw Blue Suede Shoes as the opening track it was going to be good
I love the 50's style music and the quality of the recording - something about that muffled/crackling sound
A few songs I knew already, and the others were just as good!
5 ⭐️
Earth, Wind & Fire
2/5
I was expecting this album to be so much more upbeat
I actually found it super boring and I hated the whiny parts in the songs
2 ⭐️
Fiona Apple
1/5
Chaotic
To summarise - random dolphin like squealing, dogs barking, heavy breathing. Piano keys being smashed around and what sounds like a kitchen drawer being rattled
You can hear the lockdown insanity in real time as the album went on
Felt like fetching the bolt cutters to chop my ears off and end the suffering
1 ⭐️
Curtis Mayfield
3/5
70's porno music mixed with a low budget heist film
3 ⭐️
Fleet Foxes
5/5
Holy shit why have I never listened to these guys before?!
I'd heard of Fleet Foxes a lot and for some reason just never looked them up. I have been missing out though because I loved this album!
5 ⭐️
Beastie Boys
2/5
Sounds like an SNL skit
2 ⭐️
Nirvana
1/5
Thought this was going to be my type of thing, but shit was I wrong
Nirvana are for sure overhyped. This was terrible with maybe 2 good songs sprinkled in
1 ⭐️
Big Star
4/5
Way better than I was expecting, a very catchy album
4 ⭐️
Johnny Cash
5/5
Great album!
I'm not a massive fan of live albums but this one is so unique. Hearing the prisoners cheering and Johnny Cash joking about with them - it made me feel like I was there
And of course the songs were great, and it's Johnny Cash so an easy top score for me
5 ⭐️
Brian Eno
2/5
Ugh
The first song was pretty relaxing and I liked the piano. The rest of it was enough to bring on a major depressive episode
2 ⭐️
Miles Davis
2/5
Nope. Boring and too long
It was alright on the whole, but there were some awful screechy trumpet noises that made me want to cry
I wish I could have listened to this In A Silent Way
2 ⭐️
Silver Jews
4/5
Weird
I liked it
4 ⭐️
Arcade Fire
5/5
I'm speechless. I really don't know what to say about this album but WOW
I never really listened to Arcade Fire, I knew 1 song from 2010 and that's it. So my expectations weren't too high for this album. I was so wrong, every single song was so good!
I also didn't realise that I knew Rebellion (Lies) - I've not heard it in years but wow what a song
5 ⭐️
Prince
3/5
The songs weren't bad, quite catchy. But the album was too long and I hate the screeching
Maybe I'm just not a Prince fan
3 ⭐️
Christine and the Queens
1/5
H&M music
Already knew I was going to hate this one based on the 1 song of theirs that I already detest. But this was way too long and repetitive
1 ⭐️
Tears For Fears
3/5
It was a shame the rest of the album wasn't like Everybody Wants To Rule The World because that song is a solid 10/10
Another 1 or 2 songs I knew and liked but overall the album was a bit boring
3 ⭐️
The Clash
4/5
Upbeat songs and catchy. I liked this one
4 ⭐️
The Magnetic Fields
3/5
I enjoyed half of this album. The rest was alright with a few really bad ones thrown in
This album should have been way shorter than it was though. Felt like a chore chipping away!
3 ⭐️
Eagles
4/5
I was kind of dissappointed with this album because I had high expectations
Some of these songs were absolute bangers 10/10 material, and the other half were kinda bland?
I wanted more upbeat guitar!
This album was a 3.7 rounded up to
4 ⭐️
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
3/5
Good songs but her screeching is bad. If these songs had a different singer then it would have scored higher!
Maps is a banger though, love that song
3 ⭐️
Television
2/5
This guys voice grated on me so bad. I was also really bored waiting for this to end
2 ⭐️
Pavement
4/5
Some bum songs scattered in here, but I enjoyed it overall
4 ⭐️
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
4/5
A really nice album! Very chill, loved the vibes
4 ⭐️
Kraftwerk
1/5
Headache inducing
1 ⭐️
Kendrick Lamar
4/5
I only knew a few Kendrick songs before listening to this album - and I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this!
I recognised "i" straight away, didn't realise it was his song!
Sadly it was just a bit too long for my liking, and I'm not a huge fan of the talking tracks/interludes
A very high 4 ⭐️
Turbonegro
5/5
I'd never heard of Turbonegro before - but woah!!!
This is exactly my type of thing 🤘🏻 Amazing energy all the way through and a great cover at the end of the album
5 ⭐️
The Who
3/5
Not a huge fan of live albums
The Who sounded very good though, and the songs were good! I just couldn't click with this for some reason
I think maybe some of the songs were just a bit too long and repetitive
3 ⭐️
Sufjan Stevens
4/5
This wasn't what I was expecting at all! I was put off with it being a concept album initially
I'd not heard of Sufjan Stevens before, and was surprised at how lovely his voice was. Some of these songs were so beautiful - the piano ones mainly
I did end up recognising Chicago too
It was just a bit too long for my liking, but still worth the high rating
4 ⭐️
The White Stripes
3/5
I've had three of their albums now and I really don't get the hype?
Fell In Love With A Girl is their best song and even that can't save this album. It's not bad as such - just so boring. Something about them just doesn't click for me
3 ⭐️
Charles Mingus
1/5
Like nails on a chalkboard
1 ⭐️
Daft Punk
3/5
I enjoyed the songs but it really was too long
It gave me the feeling of when you walk into a club too sober, and there's only about 3 people on the dance floor. You want to have a good time, but it's not quite right
This probably would have been a 4 if I'd have been on the jägers all night
3 ⭐️
Belle & Sebastian
3/5
Meh
Was alright, but not for me really. Inoffensive coffee shop music
3 ⭐️
The Roots
4/5
Not what I expected at all!
Quite an enjoyable album. Loved the beats. A bit long for my liking though
4 ⭐️
OutKast
4/5
What a throwback! There were some big hits on this album that I'd not heard in so long
I enjoyed it overall, but it was way too long. I wasn't a massive fan of the interludes either
4 ⭐️
Sisters Of Mercy
3/5
Bit weird. Was alright as background music
Songs were quite long but it wasn't bad
3 ⭐️
Siouxsie And The Banshees
2/5
Painful. All I heard was whining and shouting for 45 minutes. This is giving actual banshees a bad rep
Metal Postcard was enough to drive me to insanity
And the Helter Skelter cover was honestly a hate crime
2 ⭐️
R.E.M.
2/5
Nope
I already knew I was going to dislike this because I can't stand this guys voice. Surprisingly his voice wasn't as whiny on this album
Seemed ok as background music, until I heard some questionable lyrics and it was an instant nope
Please no more R.E.M. I am begging
2 ⭐️
Klaxons
4/5
What a throwback!!
Atlantis To Interzone - took me straight back to year 7 music class where we'd spam the exact same dj button and the woman's voice
Golden Skans and It's Not Over Yet are absolute tunes!!! Big songs during my younger years that I still listen to now
I enjoyed the rest of the album, but it wasn't quite as good as the singles
4 ⭐️
Everything But The Girl
2/5
Sounds like the type of music you'd hear in the queue for Oblivion at Alton Towers
Repetitive, they all sounded the same and too long
Not for me, thanks
2 ⭐️
Boston
4/5
Enjoyed this album, and I knew a lot of these songs previously! They bring back happy memories of my aunty before she passed
What a great song to open the album - More Than A Feeling
4 ⭐️
Pixies
3/5
I thought I'd enjoy this a lot more than I did
It was good, but I just couldn't vibe with it? Something was off and I can't place it
3 ⭐️
Joni Mitchell
3/5
Enjoyed this one more than Hejira, but I have the same complaints again
Joni has such a beautiful voice but it feels like she's singing a different tune/rhythm to the music. Makes it very difficult to get into these songs
3 ⭐️
Dexys Midnight Runners
2/5
Oof. Terrible singing, talking at the start of songs, depressing, and way too long
I've always thought of this band as a one hit wonder - so I was a bit shocked to see them on this list
2 ⭐️
T. Rex
3/5
I've already had a T. Rex album (The Slider) and thought it was repetitive and forgettable.
This album gets the exact same feedback
To me they seem to be a one hit wonder band with Get It On. If the rest of the album had been more upbeat like that song, it might have scored higher
3 ⭐️
The Streets
3/5
I was looking forward to this one, but sadly it wasnt great!
Dry Your Eyes and Fit But You Know It were both huge songs in my school years. However the rest of the album was nowhere near as good!
Pretty bad on the whole but I am giving it an extra star for being funny, and also nostalgia!
3 ⭐️
Flamin' Groovies
4/5
Not what I expected from this album at all. It seemed a bit all over the place - lots of different sounds and vibes. I could hear other bands/performers influences in different songs
I quite liked it, a very enjoyable listen!
4 ⭐️
Dr. Dre
3/5
This album was a bit before my time, so it wasn't something I was familiar with. I did know 2 songs though
It was a bit too long, and a lot of these songs did sound very repetitive! Wasn't bad, just repetitive. I much prefer the later Dr. Dre stuff
3 ⭐️
Creedence Clearwater Revival
4/5
Good stuff! A few songs I recognised on this, but the rest were just as good
4 ⭐️
X-Ray Spex
3/5
Catchy songs. Terrible voice
3 ⭐️
Tom Waits
1/5
I said I never wanted to listen to this man again, and hear I am being tormented
The screaming sounded like an exorcism
The other album I heard of his was just talking, so I'd never actually heard him sing. Is this satire??
Dirt In The Ground - I was blown away by how BAD the singing was. Sounds like a chain smoker about to cough up a lung
It's bad enough this guy is on this list at all... but twice?!
1 ⭐️
Rage Against The Machine
4/5
Fuck you I won't do what you tell me! 🤘🏻
I first heard of Rage Against The Machine in 2009 - I saw a campaign on facebook to get Killing In The Name to #1 in the charts, and to block X Factor from getting the Christmas #1. Being the angsty teen that I was, I of course joined in and downloaded the song
I'd never listened to any of their other songs, and I really enjoyed this album! I wish back then I'd have also downloaded the rest of this album because I've been missing out!
A very high 4 ⭐️
The Yardbirds
3/5
A few good songs on here. Wasn't bad, just a bit bland on the whole
3 ⭐️
The Residents
1/5
They no longer need to waterboard people for info - they just play this album out loud, it's more effective
Whoever added this to the list needs to be checked over by a mental health professional because they're clearly not doing well
1 ⭐️
Merle Haggard
4/5
Really enjoyed this one! I love the quality of the sound too, all crackly and just old sounding
Catchy songs and I really like his voice
4 ⭐️
David Bowie
3/5
I am a certified David Bowie hater. I was prepared and expecting to give this a low rating. But I have to admit that this album wasn't bad
To start with, I didn't realise Changes was his song - and I really like that song!
Most of the songs were alright, it's his voice that I can't stand. Never really been a fan of Life on Mars? but I did enjoy Queen Bitch
I was glad about the lack of offensive spaceship noises in this one (apart from the start of Andy Warhol which was highly offensive to my ears)
Slight offensive noises and bad screeching aside, I am going to say this album was alright on the whole. I probably would have rated higher with a different singer
3 ⭐️
Doves
5/5
This scratched the right part of my brain today
I'd never heard of Doves - was expecting it to be more rock. But it sounded like early Coldplay, with hints of Snow Patrol
Loved it!!! What a find
5 ⭐️
Anita Baker
3/5
Nice voice, but the songs were quite boring and forgettable
3 ⭐️
Dusty Springfield
4/5
After giving Dusty In Memphis a low score - I wasn't expecting much from this. I really enjoyed it though!!
I knew pretty much every song on here. Absolute classics!!! Sadly though, I don't think Dusty's covers are doing the originals justice. So much potential and they just felt a bit flat? Kinda lifeless
The tracklist in itself would be a solid 5 but the songs themselves bring the score down. Still a good album that I would listen to again!
4 ⭐️
Bon Jovi
5/5
Whoa we're halfway there... whoaaa oh livin on a prayer!!!! 🤘🏻
I was so excited to see this on my list!!!! I already knew I liked it, and was nice to relisten for the first time in years. Theres big tunes on this tracklist, but also some hidden gems
My mum had this album, and as a teenager I would go through her cd collection and put any good ones on my ipod. Slippery When Wet was one of the few albums I copied over in full! I really really enjoyed it
5 ⭐️
Antony and the Johnsons
3/5
This was quite haunting
There were some really beautiful songs on here, but also a lot that just sounded like filler. So overall it was just too much and too long
Also the voice is... unique to say the least
3 ⭐️
Blood, Sweat & Tears
3/5
I really enjoyed some of these songs. The first half of the album was on a roll, loved the upbeat catchy songs. The 2nd half bored me and it was a bit all over the place
3 ⭐️
The Smiths
1/5
I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than listen to The Smiths ever again
1 ⭐️
Fred Neil
3/5
I actually really liked his voice. It was the songs that just sounded a bit bland for me
I knew Everybody's Talkin' although I hadn't heard this version of it before
3 ⭐️
Brian Eno
3/5
Started out very promising. I really enjoyed the opening tracks, and then it started to get a bit odd
I could have put up with a bit of quirkiness and still rated it well, but unfortunately it got boring towards the end - and I lost interest
3 ⭐️
R.E.M.
2/5
What have I done to deserve yet another R.E.M. album?!
2 ⭐️
Lorde
3/5
I was obssessed with Lorde's first album - Pure Heroine when it came out. In 2013 Lorde was the coolest, she had teenage girls on tumblr in a chokehold
I'd never listened to this album based off the singles. I liked The Louvre, Perfect Places, and Green Light has since grown on me - but nothing else really stood out
This album sounds like Forever 21 music - and we can blame producer Jack Antonoff for that
I like the theory online that this album is about Lorde's relationship/cheating with Jack. The powerpoint presentation someone made about it will remain iconic
Sadly it still doesn't make this album sound better though
3 ⭐️
Nirvana
4/5
I've never listened to this album in full - so I'm glad I finally got round to it!
There's some huge bangers on this album! But also a few of the songs just fell a bit flat for me. I definitely enjoyed this way way more than In Utero though
I still think that Nirvana is massively overrated, but I did on the whole enjoy this album
4 ⭐️
Massive Attack
2/5
Massive Attack on my ears more like
Their cover of Light My Fire was a hate crime
2 ⭐️
Led Zeppelin
3/5
I feel like once you've listened to one Led Zeppelin album - you've listened to them all
Started off well but it was so long and repetitive that I got bored. I only knew Kashmir before listening so that probably didn't help with the rating
I was surprised to see a song with a Welsh name - Bron-Yr-Aur! I never knew the history behind that track, so that was a nice find. Nice guitar song too
Overall this album was ok. Wasn't their best of what I've heard so far
3 ⭐️
Sonic Youth
3/5
This album started off so so good, but it just got really boring and repetitive!
Was also way too long by the end. Shame really
3 ⭐️
Paul McCartney
5/5
Really zoned out with this one listening to the guitar solos
Love the sound, great stuff
5 ⭐️
Alice Cooper
3/5
This was more enjoyable than School's Out - but some parts of songs weirded me out
Horrible noises and some sort of panting and moaning? Ruined the songs tbh
Overall ok album
3 ⭐️
5/5
This is THE Oasis album!!
Massive tunes!!!! What a tracklist! A lot of my all time favourite Oasis songs are on this album
This album is older than me and yet its still played wherever I go. Its rare to visit Manchester and not hear an Oasis song playing somewhere. Iconic
This album hit me right in the feels today. Hearing these songs bring back tons of memories from different stages of my life. The day I finished school, drunk in a field, everyone singing Wonderwall. Being deep into the crowd at Leeds fest 2017 watching Liam's set. Listening to Oasis every morning on the way to work, so loud the car was shaking
What I love about this album is how its stood the test of time. I was at a gig in Manchester on the day Oasis announced their reunion, and the crowd sang along to Wonderwall before the show. People of all ages with their lights in the air 🥹 Some much younger than me, but they knew all the words as if it was a new song
Don't Look Back in Anger also becoming a song of unity in the city since 2017 🐝 I love hearing crowds of people singing along. The power of music is truly amazing, and this album is not only so good, but it brings people together! ❤️
One of the rare albums that really belongs on this list lol
5 ⭐️
Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
2/5
This was all over the place
Some of the songs weren't too bad, even nice in parts. But then the guy would start this weird deep talking over the songs and ruin them
They couldn't pick a genre when they made this album. Seems like they just said yes to all
Bedlam indeed
2 ⭐️
Kate Bush
2/5
Kate Bush's voice irks me
Songs were crap too, and then I heard a lyric about Hitler and that just sealed the deal for me
2 ⭐️
Ice T
2/5
We get it - you're hard. You're a bad boi. You're angry. You don't like the cops
But jesus this was too much. Repetitive and too long
Beats were decent, and I really liked the guitar on Body Count. The rest of it was bad
2 ⭐️
Radiohead
2/5
I only know 2 Radiohead songs, so this album was completely new to me. I was expecting it to sound more rock/guitar
What the hell was this?! Nearly 45 minutes of whining and weird noises. Not what I was expecting at all
This is what people are always raving about... really?
I try to be open minded but this guys voice ruined the few nice songs there were
2 ⭐️
Jazmine Sullivan
3/5
... there were a lot of songs about getting dick?
I'm all for female empowerment but lyrics such as "that money keeps that pussy wet" was a bit too much 🥴
I loved the beats, a very nice vibe going on. She had a nice voice too. Not a fan of the skits/talking whatever you want to call them
The Other Side was my favourite song, it had so much potential and then she'd lose me singing about getting her titties out and getting her booty done 🫠
Would have been a higher score tbh if the songs were instrumentals or had different lyrics. This album had a lot of potential to be poignant and beautiful - but then she'd ruin it by throwing in words that made it comical and unserious
3 ⭐️
Belle & Sebastian
2/5
I hate to say it but this album gave me sexual predator vibes
Music: pleasant. Lyrics: 🚩
Sinister indeed
2 ⭐️
George Harrison
5/5
What a beautiful album
Wasn't impressed by the album length to begin with, but I enjoyed it all! Love the guitar, totally zoned out and went into my own little world
George was the underrated Beatle in my opinion, and of what I've heard so far - this is the best album of all their solo stuff
5 ⭐️
Dizzee Rascal
2/5
I laughed when I saw this album on the list - didn't expect to see Dizzee Rascal here at all!
I saw Dizzee at a festival in 2010 and ended up becoming a fan. Jus' A Rascal was stuck in my head for days afterwards! So I only really knew his later stuff. This however was very bad and very different to his later work
It just felt a bit flat?
2 ⭐️
A Tribe Called Quest
3/5
Not my usual sort of thing, but this was alright. Bit long though
Recognised one or two songs
3 ⭐️
Tom Tom Club
2/5
The type of music you'd be tortured with at Butlins
No thanks
2 ⭐️
Bob Marley & The Wailers
3/5
Wasn't sure how I felt about this album initially. It was a nice enough album, and I liked the lyrics. But it just wasn't clicking for me
I think I just prefer other Bob Marley songs to these. They weren't bad at all, just missing a spark
No Woman No Cry - love that song though!
3 ⭐️
Einstürzende Neubauten
1/5
Was it bad? Absolutely
Was it the worst thing I've heard on here so far? No, far from it
1 ⭐️
The Mars Volta
5/5
Wow!
I'd never heard of The Mars Volta and wasn't expecting that 🤘🏻
I was getting My Chemical Romance vibes from this, good stuff!
5 ⭐️
The Killers
5/5
I knew what my rating for this would be instantly. What an album!
We had Hot Fuss on cd growing up so these songs brought back a lot of nostalgia. I listen to half of these songs all the time, but it was nice to go back and hear the whole thing in full
This album was banger after banger, and what a way to start the album with those first 5 songs!!
Also they are so fucking good live, it makes me love these songs even more
Muah chef's kiss
5 ⭐️
Kanye West
3/5
Not my favourite of Kanye's stuff tbh
I liked a very small handful of songs, the rest were alright - nothing amazing. Much prefer his other stuff
3 ⭐️
Coldplay
5/5
Such a beautiful album with some big hits!! Perfect music to chill out to. We had this album at home, I can remember so clearly listening to this on my little green cd player. Those were the days 🥹
Usually debut albums aren't as good as a bands later stuff, but they had Yellow on theirs 💛 A song that has stood the test of time. I can still remember the music video vividly!
Coldplay were one of my bucket list bands and I finally got to see them last year. People can shit on them all they want but hands down they put on one of the best concerts I've ever been to. And what they're doing to reduce emissions on tour is incredible
Love everything about this album, I will defend it always!
5 ⭐️
Norah Jones
3/5
Nice voice, but all the songs sounded the same. It just blended into one long coffee shop soundtrack
Pleasant sounding though so it gets an alright rating
3 ⭐️
Nick Drake
3/5
Was kind of disappointed in this one!!
I really enjoyed his other albums, but this one seemed so boring in comparison? Wasn't very memorable sadly
3 ⭐️
Kings of Leon
2/5
Was not a fan of this one
I much prefer their other stuff, but even then I always thought they were a bit of a two hit wonder?
Surprised to see them on this list
2 ⭐️
Nine Inch Nails
4/5
There were some very good songs on this album! I knew a handful of them already
Sadly a lot of filler though and it was a bit long. I was hoping all these songs would have the same energy as March Of The Pigs - rather than the slower sort of songs
Overall still a good album, but I do prefer the Johnny Cash cover of Hurt!
4 ⭐️
Black Sabbath
4/5
Nice stuff. Some good guitar riffs here that I zoned out to
4 ⭐️
Tricky
2/5
What the hell was this
It started off alright - not my type of thing but the beats were decent and it was pleasant enough. Then after a few songs, the lyrics started getting weirder and weirder. And by the end of the album there were random bird noises and odd things
Abbaon Fat Tracks was the song where I really thought wtf am I listening to here. "I fuck you in the ass, just for a laugh" ???
2 ⭐️
Doves
3/5
I was disappointed in this one!
Last month I had their album The Last Broadcast generated and really loved it. I'd not heard of Doves before then
This album was just a bit bland and boring though? There were a handful of songs I enjoyed, and this wasn't bad at all. I just felt like it was lacking something especially compared to their other stuff
3 ⭐️
Mylo
4/5
I actually quite enjoyed this one which really surprised me!
Also ended up knowing one song that I'd not heard in years. Would listen again. Kinda chill
4⭐️
The Police
4/5
Nice. I quite enjoyed this one!
I only knew 2 songs - Message In A Bottle (banging tune) and Walking On The Moon. But the rest of the album was catchy and upbeat
4 ⭐️
Ananda Shankar
3/5
Well this was something!
I actually really liked the sitar cover of Light My Fire! I wish the rest of the songs were like that one - a bit more upbeat
The sitar music was nice but it just became background music
3 ⭐️
Mariah Carey
2/5
Go girl give us ✨️nothing✨️
I'm not a fan of Mariah's apart from her iconic Christmas song. She is undeniably talented but this album was such a snoozefest
Someone get this girl some caffeine and belt out them notes like I know she can. Instead she just kinda yuuuuuhhuhuhhhuhh'd all over the place
Wasn't as bad as I had expected tbh but it does lose a star due to the fact it was too damn long
2 ⭐️
Beck
3/5
And the crowd went mild...
3 ⭐️
The Rolling Stones
4/5
I wasn't too excited going into this one, because of the low reviews and my general feelings towards The Rolling Stones
I actually really prefered this album to their other stuff!!! I knew a lot of the songs, I enjoyed their covers, and I thought the sound suited them. It did sound a bit Beatles-ish at times but that's why I liked it!
A very pleasant surprise
4 ⭐️
Bobby Womack
4/5
Really enjoyed the first half of this album! Loved the vibes and the energy
The 2nd half started slowing down a bit too much. Still very enjoyable songs, but I wanted that energy throughout the album
4 ⭐️
The Lemonheads
4/5
A nice surprise! Quite enjoyed this one
4 ⭐️
Meat Loaf
5/5
Yes!!! 🦇
This album was played a lot in our house growing up, my mum really liked Meat Loaf
Very theatrical, sounds like a soundtrack to a musical. Big tunes, vocals, guitar and ballads, great stuff!
Enjoyed listening to this one on my drive back home!
5 ⭐️
The Cramps
4/5
Was expecting this to be "The Craps" but instead I ended up enjoying this album!
4 ⭐️
Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
4/5
A very enjoyable album
Thanks to Duolingo I understood parts of it. Not only did this album entertain me, but it educated
Muy bien
4 ⭐️
Talking Heads
2/5
I 🙅🏻♀️ don't 🙅🏻♀️ like 🙅🏻♀️ new 🙅🏻♀️ wave
2 ⭐️
UB40
2/5
I had to suffer over an hour of this repetitive nonsense, and didn't even get to hear Red Red Wine
Disgraceful
2 ⭐️
Various Artists
5/5
What a fantastic album to receive on Christmas day
I'm surprised by how many of these songs/versions I actually knew before hand
The Ronettes and Darlene Love were the highlights - love love loved their songs
I was not aware of Phil Spector's personal life, which led to a horrific read of his wiki page. However, I'm here to rate the music and not him so...
5 ⭐️
5/5
Yeeeeeeeeessss!!!
A lot of these songs are very nostalgic to me, and were big parts of my childhood in various ways. Takes me back to all the day trips with my dad to Liverpool
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - one of my favourite Beatles songs!!
A very enjoyable album, and I wished it was longer
5 ⭐️
Talking Heads
2/5
I only just had a Talking Heads album a few days ago...
Still shite
2 ⭐️
Fatboy Slim
4/5
Some big tunes here! I knew half of them, even though I only initially recognised 3 songs from the tracklist
The non singles seemed more like filler, and were a bit long. But I still enjoyed the album
I saw Fatboy Slim at a festival years ago, but forgot all about it until listening to this. Instant flashbacks of getting sunburnt and drinking cider in a field. Good times
4 ⭐️
The Soft Boys
4/5
I liked this one! Good vibes
4 ⭐️
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
Easy listening, good vibes. I love hearing all the instruments
4 ⭐️
Linkin Park
3/5
Linkin Park is a band that I should enjoy based off other bands I listen to. My school friends were fans and would suggest me songs. I'd hear all the hype about them. But they've never really clicked for me no matter how much I try!
In The End is an absolute banger, but the rest were kind of meh? I recognised a few songs but I probably wouldn't listen to the majority of it again
Wasn't bad at all - just not clicking!
3 ⭐️
Destiny's Child
4/5
Lol what a wild ride this was. Pure early 2000s cringe but I really enjoyed it!
The album opens with a few bangers in a row. I'm instantly transported back to my younger years, brushing my teeth with my Destiny's Child singing toothbrush lmao
Some of the lyrics did not age well. And also got to laugh at them having Independent Women - yas slay queen, and then 3 songs later Nasty Girl - slut shaming lol. Sending mixed messages here 😂
Feeling very bootylicious after listening to this album
4 ⭐️
Pixies
3/5
Meh. Didn't think much of this
Where Is My Mind? - absolute banger. But the rest of the album was so forgettable
This is the 2nd Pixies album I've heard now and nothing stands out to me at all
3 ⭐️
James Brown
4/5
What an incredible voice and band this guy had!
A very enjoyable album that was very nearly a 5. Too much screaming sadly for full marks. And also one song went on for over 7 mins and became repetitive!
4 ⭐️
Cypress Hill
4/5
Wasn't sure how to rate this one
Catchy beats, enjoyable for the most part - but incredibly repetitive
I recognised a lot of the music/samples and I actually really enjoyed the spanish rap parts
So I guess overall good?
4 ⭐️
Talvin Singh
2/5
I enjoyed small parts of this album. Mainly the instrumental parts. Some of it, especially the Indian influences sounded very soothing
What I didn't enjoy was the random talking at the start, the more electronic parts, and the sound effects. And some of the songs were too long
This would have worked very well as an instrumental album - for meditation for example. But what ruined it was the other stuff he added on top
Wouldn't say this was awful, but it wasn't my cup of tea
2 ⭐️
David Bowie
2/5
Another day, another Bowie...
I wasn't sure how to rate this one. Instrumentally - I enjoyed this one a lot more than his other stuff. Loved the guitar. And also no weird spaceship noises on this one
But on the other hand, his voice was not good here. You could tell it was a later album. It just kinda grated on me? And some of the lyrics made me cringe at one point
I guess it was alright on the whole, not something I would choose to listen to again. But I rated Hunky Dory a 3 which was way better than this one in comparison. So...
2 ⭐️
Taylor Swift
4/5
Evermore made the list over Folklore? Hm ok
I've always said Taylor wasn't made for pop (even though I love 1989, don't @ me)
I'll admit I was never a fan of this album and had never given it a chance until I went to the eras tour. It grew on me after multiple listens
These sort of songs are the right range for her voice, and she should stick to this type of stuff! So why the hell she chooses to continue releasing crap is beyond me. She has some very beautiful songs here but instead her latest album included lyrics "touch me while your bros play grand theft auto". You know you can do better girl!
No Body, No Crime is my favourite song off this album, and it reminded me of earlier Taylor when she was still country
An enjoyable album that wasn't quite a 5. Too long with a lot of filler between the gems
4 ⭐️
Green Day
5/5
I've been blessed by the generator today!
Not my favourite Green Day album but still a banger! Basket Case and Welcome To Paradise are two of my faves 🤘🏻
Bonus points for being amazing live. These songs still get the crowd going even 30 years later, and they sound just as good !
Instant 5 ⭐️
Primal Scream
4/5
A band I know the name of but none of their songs. Or so I thought. I actually recognised quite a few from this album!
Opening the album with Movin' On Up, what a song. I haven't heard that song in like 20 years probably, but I could sing along like I heard it yesterday! I haven't heard Loaded in a good few years either. Full of nostalgia!
Enjoyable
4 ⭐️
Isaac Hayes
4/5
I can't believe this is how I find out that Isaac Hayes sang Chocolate Salty Balls... incredible
I liked this album, such a smooth voice. Didn't even notice the songs were mega long because I was enjoying the vibe
4 ⭐️
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
1/5
Imagine if every instrument from every song played at the same time. Well that's what this album sounds like. Sensory overload
The only positive thing I have to say is that I had to listen to this on youtube. So thankfully my algorithm isn't tainted
1 ⭐️
TV On The Radio
2/5
This was so disappointing!!
I only knew one of their songs before hand - Wolf Like Me (not on this album but a banger) so I went in with high expectations
But jesus this was so boring and repetitive!! 😪
2 ⭐️
Booker T. & The MG's
5/5
Yes, loved this!!
Green Onions - on a debut album, incredible! A great example of a song thats lasted the test of time
Great tracklist and I recognised majority of these songs. Really enjoyed this listen
5 ⭐️
The Jam
3/5
I only know one song by The Jam - Town Called Malice which I really like. So I thought maybe this album would be the same sort of vibe
First half I enjoyed, second half just didn't click with me. Not a bad album at all. Would be more of a 3.5
Not my jam if you will 🥁
3 ⭐️
Paul Weller
4/5
I wasn't expecting much here, only because I got an album by The Jam yesterday which was ok. But I was pleasantly surprised!
Much better than I expected really. I liked the guitar. A few songs started feeling a bit repetitive and long, but overall a good album
4 ⭐️
Slint
2/5
I'd never heard of Slint before, but somehow I recognised the first 2 songs from this album
Not a fan, found it incredibly dull and dreary
2 ⭐️
Michael Kiwanuka
3/5
Michael Kiwanuka - an artist I've heard a lot of praise for but never listened to
First half of this album was so so good. Really loved the vibes
Second half got kinda boring though as the songs slowed down a bit, and got a bit long with the intros/interlude. Shame
Great voice though, I see why people like him!
3 ⭐️
The The
4/5
Weird but I liked it
Lots of great instrument solos - especially the piano in Uncertain Smile. And loved the drums at the start of the album
4 ⭐️
The La's
2/5
Oh no I was so disappointed in this one!
I only knew There She Goes which is a classic song. But seems that was a one hit wonder. It seems so out of place on this album because the rest of it was so boring
The La's - more like Poundland Oasis. There was potential here but they lack charisma. Shame!!
2 ⭐️
Iggy Pop
4/5
I didn't realise that Iggy Pop and David Bowie weren't the same person until a few years ago. Like a pseudonym. Bowie gave me the creeps, so I refused to listen to any Iggy Pop. As you do
This was actually really good!! Not quite a 5 but a very very enjoyable album! Thank you to the generator for showing me what I've missed out on
In the words of Shaq - I owe you an apology, I wasn't really familiar with your game
4 ⭐️
Skunk Anansie
4/5
What a fucking voice 🔥
Weirdly I'd heard of Skin, but never of Skunk Anansie. So I didn't know she was in a band
Really enjoyed the guitar! Very catchy songs, and I liked the heavier ones. Bonus points for the lyrics "cunty bitch"
4 ⭐️
Funkadelic
2/5
Why an album with an intro that was way too long, and a song with fart noises, has lots of good reviews is beyond me
2 ⭐️
Ash
5/5
I'd never heard of Ash, and didn't recognise any of their songs. So I went into this album blind
I really really enjoyed it! As soon as that opening guitar started I was thinking oh hell yeah here we go. And it did not disappoint! Honestly such a nice surprise to find on this list. This is my sort of thing
5 ⭐️
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
Yeehaw 🤠🇺🇸🦅🫡
I enjoyed this one! I knew quite a lot of the songs already, they were soundtracks to our roadtrips growing up
This is my favourite album of Bruce's - but not quite full marks
4 ⭐️
Sinead O'Connor
3/5
Firstly I am so shocked to find out Nothing Compares 2 U is a cover!!!!! I love that song so much, how didn't I find this out sooner?! (I went and listened to the original and Sinéad's is better imo)
Such a unique voice - the acapella song was beautiful. Jump In The River was also a good song, I just wish more of the album had been as upbeat
An okay album overall - not my sort of thing really. Beautiful voice though and some great and powerful lyrics
Rest in peace, Sinéad
3 ⭐️
G. Love & Special Sauce
2/5
I was really enjoying the first song until he opened his mouth
Terrible vocals. The songs quickly went south - presumably as the band got higher/drunker while recording
It ended up becoming a jam session and this guy mumbling his improv
Would have been much better as an instrumental album
2 ⭐️
David Bowie
2/5
Another Bowie album. Safe to say I wasn't exactly eager to put this one on. Not the worst one of his, but I didn't like it on the whole
It had its moments - I really enjoyed the guitar on Stay! Word On A Wing would have been lovely as an instrumental
But why did he sound like a ghost, wailing over these songs?? Was it the coke? Absolutely terrible, and ruined the songs. The other songs were pleasant enough instrumentally, but it was more like background noise
I've said it before and I'll say it again - would have scored higher with a different singer. Sorry Bowie fans, he's not for me!
2 ⭐️
Slipknot
3/5
I listened to this while playing fortnite and I got 25 kills and a victory royale
Fuck yeah
3 ⭐️
Supertramp
4/5
This was very catchy - Dreamer I'm looking at you
Was never really sure where this album was going. Lots of quiet, piano songs which led into louder parts with loads of instruments
I enjoyed this album and was actually kind of sad when it ended
4 ⭐️
Paul Revere & The Raiders
4/5
I liked this!
Catchy and just my sort of thing
4 ⭐️
The Verve
2/5
Well this was shite. Super disappointing!!
Bitter Sweet Symphony - classic tune +1 star. Sonnet - another good song, most recently known as that song from an overplayed advert
And that's the only positives I have for this sadly. It was so boring and bland. Sounded like a less successful Oasis
2 ⭐️
Shack
3/5
This was alright
The problem I had with it though, was that it sounds like many other British bands of the time. Nothing was unique, memorable, or stood out to me. Sounded ok, but just a bit meh
3 ⭐️
The Charlatans
3/5
Another poundland Oasis album
Wasn't bad - I enjoyed it, but it all kind of sounded the same? So sadly none of the songs are that memorable
3 ⭐️
Soundgarden
4/5
Not a band I was familiar with previously. I only knew Black Hole Sun
That opening track was a tune! It's a shame the whole album wasn't the same standard. There were parts where it dragged a little bit and got boring
When the songs were good, they were GOOD. So feels unfair to rate it too low
4 ⭐️
Michael Jackson
4/5
Hee hee!
There are some great songs on this album! I knew half of them - and them songs alone would have been a very easy 5 star
Sadly the other half of the album were just filler. Liberian Girl in particular absolutely killed the vibe
Smooth Criminal will now be stuck in my head for the next 3-5 business days
4 ⭐️
American Music Club
4/5
I weirdly liked this one
Some songs were a bit bland, or had weird lyrics. But the good songs were really good!
Balanced out to an overall enjoyable album
4 ⭐️
The Bees
4/5
Another band I've never heard of
I did end up recognising A Minha Menina from the car advert lmao, thanks wiki for that little fact!
A pleasant album on the whole, I ended up enjoying it. Easy listening
4 ⭐️
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
These songs were so nice, I really enjoyed the album!
It's a shame that Neil's voice isn't great. These songs could have been even better
4 ⭐️
Bob Marley & The Wailers
4/5
I much prefered this to Natty Dread, which I found to be missing a spark. Even though I didn't really know these songs beforehand
These songs were so chill and I really liked the vibe. A really enjoyable listen
4 ⭐️
Ian Dury
4/5
Really enjoyed this one!
Terrible voice, but the songs were just so enjoyable you just kind of forget about it. Funny in parts, very entertaining. Some great guitar in there too
I can see why this has a lot of low reviews - this was probably baffling to non-Brits lol
4 ⭐️
R.E.M.
2/5
Ughhhhhhhh yet again more R.E.M
Whenever I see an album of theirs come up, a part of me dies inside
This is my 4th R.E.M album and I can confirm I still don't like this guys whiny ass singing and the bland songs
2 ⭐️
Gary Numan
3/5
I enjoyed this album on the whole. It's a shame all the songs sounded the same though
On a side note, I never realised Basement Jaxx used a sample of a Gary Numan song!
3 ⭐️
Leonard Cohen
3/5
This is the 3rd Leonard Cohen album I've had. The others I rated a 2 - because his voice was that bad. So I fully expected the same from this album
To my surprise, his voice isn't as bad here at all! Songs were alright, nothing that stood out massively
3 ⭐️
Grizzly Bear
3/5
Meh
This was so boring. Nice enough songs but an album worth was too much. Recognised 2 songs but probably wouldn't listen again
3 ⭐️
Sade
2/5
SMOOOOOTH OPERATOOOOOOOR 🌶
Never really cared for that song before, but now it has become iconic for Carlos Sainz fans
I didn't like the album version of Smooth Operator with the talking. Much prefer the single version. I also knew Your Love Is King. Those two songs aside I found the album pretty boring. It all sounded the same and I was bored. Sorry, Sade
Nice voice though
A 2.5 rounded down
2 ⭐️
Sheryl Crow
3/5
I didn't have high hopes going into this one. To me Sheryl Crow is a 1 hit wonder with All I Wanna Do - and I can't stand that song
Was pleasantly surprised that not all of her songs were like that. Some I quite enjoyed. But there was also a lot of bad songs scattered among them
Overall ok album
3 ⭐️
The 13th Floor Elevators
3/5
I surprisingly quite enjoyed this one! What I imagine the Beatles on crack would sound like
Lost a star though for the horrendous screeching and wailing
3 ⭐️
De La Soul
3/5
Catchy but not my sort of thing
Not a massive fan of the skits, and also found it a bit too long
3 ⭐️
Eminem
5/5
"I don't give a fuck, god sent me to piss the world off" - a perfect quote to sum up this album
I grew up listening to Eminem, and the lyrics don't really shock me anymore. I've always assumed it was an alter ego when he raps. I do understand why people find it offensive though!
I knew a lot of these songs and skits already, and even though I'm not usually a fan of skits, it was enjoyable! My Name Is - probably the biggest song on the album, but there's quite a few big tunes on this one
I think my score was influenced a lot by nostalgia, because some of these songs did not age well lmao (still think they're bangers). Eminem is also very good live so I'm probably biased 😆
5 ⭐️
Joanna Newsom
1/5
I have nothing nice to say, so I'll keep my mouth shut
1 ⭐️
The Jesus And Mary Chain
3/5
Another alright album
Musically, it was fine. It sounded familiar in parts - probably heard a song on an advert or something. Nothing to write home about
Sadly sounded like a lot of other albums I've heard on here so far. Nothing unique or memorable for me personally
3 ⭐️
Keith Jarrett
3/5
This could have been a really wonderful album. The piano was so relaxing
But - what was with the random moaning? And it was way too long
The 2nd half of the album was much better, and saved it
3 ⭐️
Afrika Bambaataa
4/5
This isn't my usual type of thing, so I wasn't expecting much
It was actually super catchy and I quite enjoyed it! Parts of it sounded super familiar
4 ⭐️
Q-Tip
4/5
This was such a catchy album. I enjoyed it! Slightly repetitive towards the end but if you like one song, then you like them all
4 ⭐️
4/5
Well. I am not a David Bowie fan. And everytime I see one of his albums pop up, they fill me with dread. This is my 5th Bowie album
This is the first one that I've actually enjoyed! My usual complaint is I don't like his voice
But he actually sang on this one and it wasnt bad at all. The songs were much better too
Wouldn't go as far as calling myself a fan now, but this was an enjoyable album. I see why this one is one of his best
4 ⭐️
The Smiths
1/5
Insufferable shite!
Why is he wailing and growling like that??
"I'm gonna kill my dog" fuck right off
Pretentious ass lyrics, thinks he's the dogs bollocks
1 ⭐️
Elvis Costello
2/5
Oof. Brutal indeed
Shite songs and a terrible voice
2 ⭐️
Traffic
4/5
I really liked this!
Not what I was expecting at all, but I loved the instrumental opening. Perfect music to just zone out to
4 ⭐️
Queen
5/5
I was really excited for this album!
It was camp and theatrical. Not too many big hits on it, but Bohemian Rhapsody in itself deserves all the stars
Freddie was so talented, what a voice. And Brian on that guitar was 🔥
5 ⭐️
Grant Lee Buffalo
4/5
Never heard of this band before but I enjoyed this album!
Some nice songs on here. Very chill
4 ⭐️
The xx
3/5
A surprising album to see included on this list. I only knew 3 of their songs beforehand, which all came from their debut. So why this album was chosen...? 🤔
It was alright. I liked the beats but not the singing/talking
Made pleasant background music, but very bland and forgettable
3 ⭐️
Crosby, Stills & Nash
3/5
A nice album, very chill. My only issue with it was that it was a bit too dreary. Could have done with some upbeat songs thrown in
3 ⭐️
Stereolab
1/5
The most annoying and repetitive album I've listened to
This got right on my tits
1 ⭐️
Supergrass
4/5
Such a fun album!
Really enjoyed this one. Loved the energy and how catchy the songs were. Not quite full marks
Very high 4 ⭐️
The Who
2/5
The bad songs were really bad. But then they'd sprinkle a few good parts in here and there
Overall did not enjoy
2 ⭐️
Santana
3/5
I liked this album - nothing bad to say about it really
It became background noise for me though because of all the guitar solos
3 ⭐️
Jacques Brel
4/5
Oui oui monsieur
4 ⭐️
ABBA
3/5
I love me some ABBA. We had the Gold: Greatest Hits album at home. But this wasn't good
It was like a reject album. With like 2 good songs thrown in
Giving it an extra star purely because the only good songs were so good
3 ⭐️
Beatles
5/5
It's always a good day when I see the Beatles pop up!
Eleanor Rigby is a 5 star song in itself. One of my favourite Beatles songs!
Yellow Submarine is such a nostalgic song for me personally, although it seems so out of place on this album
Shoutouts to Taxman and Got To Get You Into My Life too for being tunes
5 ⭐️
Lana Del Rey
2/5
If clinical depression was an album, then this is it. Why is this woman always moping about?
I was surprised that 1 - she made this list, and 2 - that it was this album. I don't like Lana but even I've heard of NFR and Born To Die. I'd never heard of this one
Unfortunately Lana is not for me, unless she stops mumbling and perks up a bit. This was so boring and monotonous. I only enjoyed 1 song, and 'enjoyed' is pushing it
She should write songs about her life in the swamp, married to the alligator man. At least then it would be more interesting than whatever this was
2 ⭐️
3/5
A few songs I enjoyed on here. Not really my sort of thing though, couldn't "get" it
I'd never heard of PJ Harvey - her voice is not what I was expecting at all based off the album cover. Pleasantly surprised
3 ⭐️
Rush
3/5
Meh it was ok
Didn't like it as much as their other album - Moving Pictures
Forgettable
3 ⭐️
The Stone Roses
4/5
I only really knew Waterfall before going into this album
It was exactly what I expected it to sound like! That distinct British summer vibe. I recognised a few songs by the end
A good and enjoyable album
4 ⭐️
4/5
I really loved the intro! I was kind of disappointed it wasn't a classical/orchestra album because I was really into that intro
I thought this album was super catchy. I really enjoyed it! I recognised a few songs on there that I've not heard in so long - The Look Of Love (both parts) loved it
4 ⭐️
Caetano Veloso
4/5
Couldn't understand a word this guy was singing. But I liked this one, purely for the vibes
The Billie Jean cover really threw me off, seemed totally out of place to sing in English for this one song. But he did a great job and put his own twist on it!
4 ⭐️
Green Day
5/5
Instant 5 star!! 🔥
This is one of the albums that define my teenage years, and I still listen to it. I remember watching the American Idiot music video on MTV and thinking Billie Joe was so cool. What a time to be alive
This album was huge. For years I couldn't walk into a HMV without seeing this album plastered all over. Green Day still use American Idiot to make political statements. Wake Me Up When September ends is still a meme. They still play the majority of this album live. You wouldn't think it was over 20 years old
This is THE Green Day album. Banger after banger! Hearing those guitar riffs just hit the right part of my brain🤘🏻 Sick album cover. They're also one of the best bands I have ever seen live. Hella Mega tour was insane. They nailed it with this one. Points all round honestly
5 ⭐️
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
A very nice album!
Bridge Over Troubled Water is such a beautiful song. I also love Cecilia! I thought the cover by The Vamps was the original version up until a few years ago. Much to my surprise!
4 ⭐️
The Who
4/5
Good stuff. I liked this one
Baba O'Riley - what a great song
4 ⭐️
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
4/5
My only experience of Captain Beefheart is from Trout Mask Replica which I gave a 1. So I wasn't thrilled to see yet another of their albums pop up
I was so shocked though because I weirdly quite liked this one! Totally different sounds but still kinda odd. I liked it
4 ⭐️
Eagles
4/5
Some good stuff here!
The first half of this album could have been 5 star, loved it. 2nd half was good but seemed to slow down too much for my liking
I knew a lot of these songs already - a very enjoyable album
4 ⭐️
Pet Shop Boys
3/5
I saw Pet Shop Boys live a few months ago at the EMAs and thought they were boring oops
I only knew like 3 songs of theirs beforehand. This album wasn't bad though! Much better and livelier than I was expecting. Quite catchy but not my sort of thing
3 ⭐️
Depeche Mode
3/5
I enjoyed this more than Music For The Masses - but not much more. Still not my thing
Personal Jesus saved this album from a lower rating
3 ⭐️
Blur
4/5
Girls & Boys - What a song!! 🔥 A++
I knew I'd probably enjoy this album based off the Blur songs I know. I only knew two from this album - Girls & Boys and of course Parklife
On the whole I enjoyed this album. But some of the songs didn't have the same energy as the rest, just fell a bit flat? Album filler
A few of these songs will be stuck in my head all night now. Mega catchy
Allllll the peeeeopleeeeee
4 ⭐️
Tom Waits
2/5
Imagine waking up in the morning, excited to see what your daily album is. Only to find its another fucking Tom Waits album
I've already suffered through 2 of his other albums - both a 1 star. I hate to say it but this album was slightly more bearable. The songs were ok! But his VOICE!!! Dreadful
For that reason its getting a 2. But I will never be a Tom Waits fan
2 ⭐️
Spacemen 3
3/5
Started off well but then got massively repetitive and boring
Disappointing but not terrible
3 ⭐️
Aretha Franklin
4/5
What a voice!
There were a few songs that I recognised on here. The others were a joy to discover
A very nice album
4 ⭐️
Elliott Smith
3/5
I'd never heard of Elliott Smith. I liked a few of the songs, he had a really nice voice. But this album was so bland. Everything blended into 1 long song
3 ⭐️
Janis Joplin
5/5
What a voice! 🔥
I only knew 2 Janis Joplin songs before going into this. Ended up recognising a 3rd thanks to a highly annoying perfume advert. That does not do her justice because this album was amazing!
Such a talent, died way too young. Reminds me of Amy Winehouse - unique voices and I think both would have gone on to incredible things
This is in my top 3 albums on here so far. Loved it
5 ⭐️
Manic Street Preachers
4/5
Finally a band from my neck of the woods
I've heard so much about them, but honestly couldn't name you one song of theirs. I did end up recognising a few by the end of this album
I quite enjoyed it! But they're more of a band I'd happily watch at a festival, but wouldn't pay for their tour
4 ⭐️
Bill Evans Trio
3/5
Not really my thing, but it wasn't bad. Just more like background music to me
Couldn't believe it was live though - was very good quality
3 ⭐️
Electric Light Orchestra
3/5
I was on the fence with this one
Parts of the songs were so so good. Mr Blue Sky 10/10 🔥 Other parts were either too weird, or boring. This album was also really long. It was just a bit all over the place
I appreciate the music and talent, but I don't think its my cup of tea
3 ⭐️
Coldplay
5/5
This album!!!! 😭❤️
We had this album at home and I overplayed it to death. Every single song is so good!
You've got the underrated songs like Politik and Green Eyes, and 4 big singles. The Scientist is 5 star worthy itself
Clocks was one of the first songs I learnt to play on piano, and one of the songs that inspired me to take lessons. This album just takes me back to a very specific time in my life. Hits me right in the feels
I feel like people pre judge Coldplay based off what they hear on the radio - but I think this is their best album
5 ⭐️
Megadeth
4/5
I was really into this as soon as I heard the opening guitar riff!
Megadeth - a band I've heard so much about but couldn't name you a single song. They were good!! 🔥
It did all start to sound similar towards the end. But that's ok if you enjoy this sort of music and some badass guitar
4 ⭐️
Prince
2/5
Oof. This was a long listen. Wish I could say it was pleasant but unfortunately it wasnt
2 ⭐️
Queen Latifah
2/5
First off, I never knew Queen Latifah was a rapper. To me she will always be Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray. Iconic
This however was not it. It started off quite good, but it got so repetitive. How many songs do you need where you tell us you're the q-u-e-e-n? Very dated songs that didnt age well. Also she completely threw me off when she pulled out the Jamaican accent and started rapping about rastas
2 ⭐️
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
3/5
Bit of a weird one
I knew quite a lot of these songs. The covers weren't great though and felt a bit random thrown in here?
3 ⭐️
Marvin Gaye
4/5
A very smooth, pleasant album
What I didn't like was some songs just ended abruptly? Almost as if songs were jumping tracks
Overall enjoyable, I really like his voice
4 ⭐️
N.W.A.
3/5
This was too long and repetitive. Wasn't bad though, just wish it was shorter
3 ⭐️
Common
3/5
Bit of an odd one
Starting with the positives - this is one of the better rap albums I've listened to so far on here. I liked the beats, some of the songs I genuinely really enjoyed!
Now for the bad - this has aged terribly. It was too long for my liking and I wasn't a fan of the talking or the random phone ringing noises
Overall ok album
3 ⭐️
Simple Minds
4/5
Not usually a fan of these 80s albums, but I found this one quite catchy
Nothing amazing or groundbreaking here - but it was a pleasant sounding album that I surprisingly enjoyed
4 ⭐️
Stevie Wonder
3/5
Stevie Wonder has an amazing voice and I really like his popular songs. I really wanted to love this album
This album had quite a few incredible songs on it, but a lot of filler too!
Sir Duke, I Wish, Isn't She Lovely, As, Ebony Eyes - all 5 stars chefs kiss
But the album was so long and some of the songs went on for like 8 minutes. It brought my enjoyment level right down 😪
Stevie in small doses next time please
3 ⭐️
Dr. John
2/5
Creepy. Weird. Annoying. Boring
The soundtrack to purgatory
2 ⭐️
5/5
This was such an unexpected 5 star!
Going in to this I thought oh here we go again another 70s album. But there was something about this that just stood out? I'd never even heard of Spirit!
Very good songs, I really enjoyed it!
5 ⭐️
The Zombies
4/5
This was a nice find! Good stuff
Haven't heard Time Of The Season in ages, so that was a nice surprise
4 ⭐️
Hookworms
4/5
Never heard of Hookworms before so I didn't know what to expect
I actually quite enjoyed this album! Sounded very similar to a lot of other indie/alt bands I listen to
A good find!
4 ⭐️
Fugees
2/5
I really wanted to like this. But honestly apart from the singles - this was really really boring
2 ⭐️
Cyndi Lauper
3/5
I'm torn on this one
The songs were so catchy, I really enjoyed this album. The singles weren't even the best songs
But on the other hand, her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Big yikes
3 ⭐️
A Tribe Called Quest
2/5
Sorry to say but I found this so boring and tedious!
Songs weren't bad but after like 3 of them they blended into one long mega song for 40 mins
2 ⭐️
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
1/5
His voice is HORRENDOUS
1 ⭐️
CHIC
4/5
Funky. I liked it 🕺🏻
4 ⭐️
The Go-Go's
4/5
Pure cheesey album. I really enjoyed it lmao
Somehow I knew most of these songs? Bangers
4 ⭐️
The Byrds
2/5
More like The Notorious Bad Brothers
I was disappointed in this one because I've enjoyed their previous stuff. This was weird though and not in a good way
Very boring and nothing stuck out to me. I was just counting down the minutes waiting for it to end
2 ⭐️
Love
4/5
A pleasant album on the whole
I enjoyed the first half and then it went a bit dull in the 2nd half
A 3.5 rounded up to 4 ⭐️
Maxwell
4/5
I weirdly enjoyed this one! I'm usually not big on the background noise type of albums, but this was so smooth and relaxing
4 ⭐️
The Black Keys
5/5
I remember listening to The Black Keys in school. For some reason I never fully listened to this album though, which is a shame
All the songs were as good as eachother. I knew a few of them and really enjoyed this album!
Sidenote - I always thought they were British!
5 ⭐️
Gene Clark
5/5
This was a really beautiful album!! I'd never listened to Gene Clark before and was surprised at how quickly this album hooked me in!
Really really enjoyed it
5 ⭐️
Britney Spears
4/5
This was cheesy. But that's ok, I don't mind some cheesy pop every now and again
A very nostalgic album. Baby One More Time was a huge song in my childhood. Britney is an icon
I'm not the biggest fan of her music, but since reading her book I appreciate her music much more
#FreeBritney
4 ⭐️
Cat Stevens
3/5
A few very lovely songs. The rest were sadly a bit boring in comparison. Was a bit disappointed because I had high hopes based on the songs I knew beforehand
I also didn't like his voice on a few of the songs, a bit screechy
3 ⭐️
Jefferson Airplane
3/5
Somebody To Love - A++ song
White Rabbit is overrated. The rest of the album was pretty meh. Wish they were a bit more rock and roll
Won't be in a hurry to listen again
3 ⭐️
Grateful Dead
1/5
I initially felt bad for giving this such a low score, but after much thought I've come to the realisation that this album was horrendous
The start wasn't too bad. Wasn't my thing and would have been a solid 2 star. Then it got to Feedback and it was like torture to my ears
Any respect I had for this album was gone by then. Too much drugs clouding their brains clearly
Stay safe kids, don't do drugs
1 ⭐️
Jane's Addiction
4/5
Jane's Addiction is a band I've heard a lot about, but had never listened to
This was a good album. Loved the guitar. Only like 35 years late to the party
4 ⭐️
Curtis Mayfield
3/5
I said the same for his other album - sounds like a 70's porno soundtrack
3 ⭐️
Peter Tosh
4/5
Going in to this I thought oh great a whole album about weed, it'll be awful
It actually was a super catchy and chill album though. Quite enjoyable!
4 ⭐️
Drive-By Truckers
4/5
You know what I actually kinda enjoyed this one
There were parts I didn't like - the talking over the music and ramblings. Also the album length. But I really enjoyed the guitar! Instrumentally a very nice album
4 ⭐️
Bob Dylan
5/5
I'm surprising myself with this rating
I like a few Bob Dylan songs, but I also can't stand his voice sometimes. He's really hit or miss for me personally
This album was really good though! Really enjoyed these songs, it was a really pleasant listen
5 ⭐️
Giant Sand
2/5
There was nothing enchanting about this
The chore was to try and stay awake during this album
2 ⭐️
John Martyn
4/5
This album was so relaxing!!
I completely chilled out with that last song, beautiful stuff
4 ⭐️
The National
4/5
I really enjoyed this one! Wasn't quite a 5 star for me, don't know what it was, but it didn't quite have the spark
A really enjoyable album though. So close 🤏🏻
4 ⭐️
OutKast
3/5
Didn't enjoy this one as much as Spearboxxx/The Love Below
The songs were catchy but it was too long and repetitive
A+++ for Ms. Jackson though 🔥
3 ⭐️
Radiohead
3/5
Well...
This is my 2nd Radiohead album. It was much better than Amnesiac to start with!
This was ok. Not my kind of thing but it wasn't awful. Do I think Radiohead are overrated based off what I've heard? Absolutely
3 ⭐️
Can
2/5
This was just background music and super boring unfortunately
2 ⭐️
Willie Nelson
3/5
A decent enough album but it was just a bit bland for me
3 ⭐️
2/5
Didn't enjoy this. I was super bored
Wasn't offensive though so it gets an extra star
2 ⭐️
LL Cool J
2/5
So repetitive and just did my nut in by the end tbh
2 ⭐️
Dennis Wilson
2/5
A nice enough album but I just couldn't get into it
The songs just left me feeling depressed if I'm being honest
2 ⭐️
Aretha Franklin
4/5
A very beautiful voice!
A few recognisable songs on this album. Respect is a classic!
Very smooth, easy listening and relaxing
4 ⭐️
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
2/5
Nope.
Never heard of them so I went in with no expectations. Not only was this boring as fuck, but his voice is dreadful and was like nails on a chalkboard
2 ⭐️
Ministry
5/5
I'd never heard of Ministry but shit I've been missing out!
Really enjoyed this album and the guitar was insane!
5 ⭐️
3/5
Was alright but more like background noise tbh. Nothing special
3 ⭐️
Tracy Chapman
3/5
I get why this has a lot of good ratings. It's not your usual singing about breakups and love album. So I'm not saying the lyrics arent good
But I just found this album a bit bland. Apart from Fast Car the songs all kind of blended into eachother, nothing really stood out
Very unique voice though
3 ⭐️
Finley Quaye
2/5
This wasn't too bad to start with. Not my sort of thing but it wasn't offensive to my ears
But by the end of it I was mega bored and getting fed up of it. So I've dropped a star
2 ⭐️
Dexys Midnight Runners
3/5
Slightly better than Don't Stand Me Down. More upbeat instrumentals on this one. The instrumental parts weren't bad! Sadly the 'singing' and wailing if we can call it that is still tragic
3 ⭐️
Parliament
3/5
Decent songs. Was catchy but extremely repetitive
3 ⭐️
Supergrass
5/5
Really enjoyed this one! A super fun album that was catchy and upbeat
5 ⭐️
Frank Sinatra
5/5
Ooh I've been waiting for some Frank Sinatra!
He has such a smooth voice, I could listen to him all day! His songs feel so carefree and instantly lift my mood
I also love this era of music. The band sounds amazing, imagine hearing this live! Gives me goosebumps when the trombone kicks in
This was my first time listening to this album in full. I will listen again!
They don't make music like this anymore. Brilliant stuff
5 ⭐️
Adele
5/5
This album went triple platinum in my house let me tell you
Takes me back to 2011. Me and my friends had this album on anytime we could. Someone Like You was the first song I played on a proper piano. Beautiful piece of music, gives me chills hearing those chords start
Chefs kiss, iconic
5 ⭐️
Gang Starr
1/5
I HATED this album. Couldn't stand it sorry to say
Repetitive as hell, and the horrible sound effects gave me sensory overload. All the songs sounded the same, like a 50min long song
Oof, no thank you
1 ⭐️
Le Tigre
4/5
Not at all what I was expecting!
I actually knew a few of these songs which was super exciting. I've heard Deceptacon a load on tv and never knew the name!
Good stuff
4 ⭐️
Buddy Holly & The Crickets
4/5
I knew a few of these songs. Very catchy
Not my favourite singer of that era but it was a fun album and still enjoyable
4 ⭐️
Kate Bush
1/5
More like the Hounds of Hell
What the fuck was that
1 ⭐️
Alice In Chains
3/5
I only knew one of their songs beforehand - but I assumed I would like this based off similar bands
It was ok. I enjoyed the guitars, but a lot of this just seemed a bit bland. I found it lacking something
3 ⭐️
3/5
Lmao this was a wild ride
This is my type of music, but I only ever listen to a few Limp Bizkit songs - I never really got into them
Now I understand why. Every song sounded the same and the album was way too long. A few standout songs here but if you've heard one, then you've heard them all
I've seen reviews where people are getting riled up about the language and lyrics, but I thought it was quite funny. Its a perfect example of the stupid shit we listened to in the 2000s. So its a shame it was so repetitive because I would have scored it higher
Keep rollin rollin rollin rollin
3 ⭐️
Alanis Morissette
4/5
Nice one, Alanis!
A couple of pretty big songs here, the rest were decent. Overall a good album!
4 ⭐️
Morrissey
2/5
Ugh
Slightly better than his other album I listened to - I'll give him that
Can't stand his voice to be honest. And the whiny ass lyrics. No thanks
2 ⭐️
The Mothers Of Invention
2/5
Track 11 said it best - "Hot Poop"
2 ⭐️
Rufus Wainwright
3/5
Lovely voice but very mediocre songs
Some I hated and had to push through. But there were some really nice songs snuck in too
3 ⭐️
Donald Fagen
4/5
Nice upbeat and catchy album! Reminded me a bit of Billy Joel
Somehow knew 2 of these songs although the name doesn't ring a bell. Pleasant surprise!
4 ⭐️
Steely Dan
3/5
The music was good, but I honestly couldn't remember any of the songs after I'd finished the album
Became more like background noise
3 ⭐️
The Pogues
5/5
Wow I really really enjoyed this album!!
I only knew one song by The Pogues before starting (Fairytale of New York - my all time favourite Christmas song) so I wasn't too sure what to expect
I enjoy Irish music and I like a bit of humour in songs - so this was a perfect combination! Ended up recognising a few of the songs by the end too
5 ⭐️
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
2/5
Well this was depressing
I understand why this album is meant to be sad. I got lost on wiki reading up about what happened - truly awful
But even with that understanding I didn't enjoy this album or think that it was any good. Beautiful album cover though I'll give him that
Seems that this is more of a personal project to him, rather than something for people to listen to
2 ⭐️
The Pretty Things
3/5
Meh pretty boring, and honestly I'll have forgotten this album by the time I've finished this review
3 ⭐️
The Beach Boys
4/5
I was a bit disappointed not gonna lie. I was expecting it to be a bit more upbeat?
God Only Knows and Wouldn't It Be Nice - A+++ absolute bangers! But some of the songs sounded a bit like filler sadly
I was lucky enough to see The Beach Boys for free years back. A very good band, but just not this album for me sadly. I'll stick to the greatest hits
RIP Brian Wilson
4 ⭐️
Sonic Youth
2/5
2 or 3 good songs here sandwiched in between a load of crap
A shit sandwich if you will
2 ⭐️
Simon & Garfunkel
2/5
How disappointing!!
Bridge Over Troubled Water was such a nice album - and then you have this?!
To think Mrs Robinson is on the same album as a song where he's pretending to be an english muffin in a toaster. Shambles
2 ⭐️
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
3/5
Beware the jumpscare when you put this album on!! I was using headphones and nearly shat myself
I actually weirdly enjoyed this album on the whole. It loses a star though for the terrible screaming and weird noises. The last song was like nails on a chalkboard
3 ⭐️
Songhoy Blues
4/5
What a fun album!
Its albums like this that make me love this project. I'd never have heard this otherwise
Very enjoyable
4 ⭐️
New Order
4/5
I'm not a huge fan of new wave music so my hopes weren't that high for this album. I did actually quite enjoy it though! Upbeat and catchy, what's not to like!
4 ⭐️
The Rolling Stones
3/5
Didn't think much of this one to be honest
I say this everytime but I'm not really a Stones fan anyway. I honestly don't really care for the 2 big singles on the album. I actually preferred some of the other songs, but it wasn't great on the whole. Got bored in parts
3 ⭐️
AC/DC
5/5
Yeeeeesssss! 🤘🏻🔥
I listen to a lot of these songs on the regular, so it was nice to finally listen to the album in full!
Although my favourite AC/DC song isn't on this album (Thunderstruck) it still has some huge bangers
Good stuff
5 ⭐️
5/5
I loved this album!
What a beautiful voice. I love that this album is so typical of the times, lyrically and the sound. Its so catchy and I knew some of the songs
I used to listen to old country music like this with my grandparents growing up. There's something quite comforting when I hear these old songs!
5 ⭐️
David Ackles
2/5
This sounds like what your local theatre would come up with if they put on a panto
2 ⭐️
The Temptations
3/5
Beautiful voices but this was bland
The equivalent to having soggy biscuits in your tea
3 ⭐️
Super Furry Animals
2/5
Another band from my part of the world. I've heard lots of hype for them over the years but had never actually listened to them until now
Sorry to say though it was shit. Lots of noise
2 ⭐️
Bee Gees
2/5
Expectations: Roller disco vibes 🕺🏽
Reality: The Beatles ordered off Temu
2 ⭐️
My Bloody Valentine
4/5
This was so 90s in the best way!
I was slightly confused to begin with though because I got them mixed up with Bullet For My Valentine. I kept waiting for it to get heavier lmao
4 ⭐️
Portishead
2/5
Slightly better than Third which I did not like. But still not my cup of tea
Repetitive and boring. Only good song was Glory Box which I never knew was sung by them
2 ⭐️
Country Joe & The Fish
3/5
This wasn't as bad as a lot of the comments make out
It was fine. But pretty boring. Nothing too exciting
3 ⭐️
Tom Waits
2/5
Rain Dogs? More like Warthogs
Why does he sound like Pumbaa from The Lion King!
2 ⭐️
Culture Club
2/5
Ugh. First off - I can't stand Boy George. He annoyed me so bad on I'm A Celeb. Also google the radiator incident if you're not aware 🙃
So feelings aside - this album was ok. Very dated but instrumental wise was ok, catchy in places! Better than I expected
I've never liked Karma Chameleon but there's better songs on the album. I also didn't really like his voice either. Just sounded a bit dull?
Overall meh but not quite a 3
2 ⭐️
Mike Oldfield
3/5
Really struggled deciding what rating to give this album
It's really impressive how he managed to do all of this himself at 19. For sure way more productive and talented than I was at that age
I remember listening to this album with my dad growing up. The Exorcist theme is iconic, and I also liked the little Blue Peter jingle at the end
It was way too long though. Some parts kept dragging on. Also the growling was a bit odd. It was a 2.5 really but I'll round up
3 ⭐️
3/5
This was bad. It was so boring and after the first 3 tracks, it sounded like 1 big song
The only thing saving this from a 2 star rating is the fact they have 3 big songs on this. Them I enjoyed. The rest of this album I did not
Rounded up to 3 ⭐️
Rod Stewart
3/5
I have personal beef with Rod Stewart dating back to when I was 10. I really wanted to 1 star this
It wasn't bad actually. First half was pretty enjoyable but 2nd half I was getting a bit bored, it all sounded the same
3 ⭐️
The Rolling Stones
4/5
I'm not really a fan of The Rolling Stones. I just find them a bit meh. I'm also not huge on Mick's voice
This album was a very nice surprise because its much better than their other stuff I've heard. Controversial opinion maybe but I've never liked Sympathy For The Devil. But the rest of the album was decent
4 ⭐️
The Smashing Pumpkins
2/5
More like Mellon Collie and the Infinite Screeching
Started off alright. The guys voice soon pissed me off so bad - was like nails on a chalkboard. I knew 2 of these songs beforehand, can't say I particulary liked them
There was no need at all for this album to be 2 hours long. Absolutely no need
2 ⭐️
Kanye West
5/5
You can't deny Kanye is talented. Shitty human being - yes. But also makes great music. Both things can be true at once
I really really enjoyed this album. Lots of huge songs on here. All Of The Lights is one of my favourite Kanye songs. Loved the interlude with the strings!
I wish he'd get rid of Nicki Minaj's terrible British accent at the start though, that was dreadful
5 ⭐️
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
This should be a 4 star album because the songs were good. But it loses a star for rambling (tamble) - tracks 1 and 10 I'm looking at you
There was no need for their version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine to be 11 mins long. I do love that song but I kept checking and seeing that it was STILL going
3 ⭐️
ABBA
5/5
THIS is the ABBA I wanted. I was disappointed after listening to The Visitors
Banger after banger. Impossible not to sing along to these songs! I knew all of them apart from 3 so it was very enjoyable
Fernando is one of my favourites, that song should have never been a bonus track!
Ultimate karaoke and party songs. Makes me want to rewatch Mamma Mia
5 ⭐️
Steve Winwood
4/5
I liked this album. Upbeat and decent songs!
Don't get what all the hate comments are for
4 ⭐️
Fleetwood Mac
4/5
Finally I've generated Rumours!
I knew quite a few of these songs but had never listened to the album in full. Based off all the high scores, I really was expecting to be blown away. But sadly some of these were pretty boring and bland
It was still a good album on the whole, would have probably rounded up to a 5 had Oh Daddy not been on the tracklist. Really did not like that song
The Chain brings back so many memories of watching F1 as a kid. Go Your Own Way is another massive banger. These 2 songs were the ones that carried this album
Glad to say I've finally listened to it, although I do think its a bit overhyped. Maybe its just not my cup of tea
4 ⭐️
Pearl Jam
4/5
I've never really listened to Pearl Jam. I obviously knew Even Flow but that was about it. Ended up recognizing a few songs of this album which took me by surprise
This was a good album! I'm not keen on the guys voice tbh but hey the songs were pretty good
4 ⭐️
The Specials
3/5
Started off decent but soon got repetitive!
It's also driving me crazy that I've heard A Message To You, Rudy on a tv show recently and I can't place what. Banger song though
3 ⭐️
Buck Owens
5/5
I really really enjoyed this album! Super catchy and I love the sound
Reminds me of music my grandfather listened to in the car. Happy memories
5 ⭐️
Pink Floyd
2/5
All of you people giving this 5 stars need to give your head a good wobble
I swear people just jump on the bandwagon and 5 star because its a "classic"
This was background noise at best, and not even good noise
2 ⭐️
The Temptations
3/5
Good songs but they were just really bland
Couldn't get into it but it was alright as background music
3 ⭐️
Violent Femmes
2/5
This was screaming one hit wonder
Opened with a banger and it was all downhill from there
2 ⭐️
Frank Sinatra
5/5
Not my favourite of Frank's work, but I really love his voice
There were some classic tunes on this album. Loved the Portuguese parts too, their voices blended nicely
Very smooth and chill
5 ⭐️
Jethro Tull
4/5
There were a few songs I knew on this album. The rest were to the same standard
This album didnt blow my mind but it wasn't too boring. I'll round it up to a 4 - it doesnt deserve a 3
4 ⭐️
Thelonious Monk
2/5
I love 50's music, and I do enjoy some jazzy songs (usually with singing)
This though I just could not get into! Parts of it sounded grating to me. Piano chords that were just slightly off for example. Made me uncomfortable
Some singing over this might have detracted me from the unpleasant noises. But it was a pain to sit and listen to just the music
Sadly there was nothing brilliant found in any corner of this album
2 ⭐️
The Flaming Lips
4/5
A few boring songs on here, but overall it was enjoyable
Rounding up to a 4⭐️
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
I didn't find his vocals as grating on this one
Quite enjoyed the music, it was good
4 ⭐️
The Slits
3/5
Well, that was something
Honestly I really enjoyed some of these songs! And I also hated some of them. The rest were ok, but it makes it hard to rate
Going down the middle and giving an ok score
3 ⭐️
Brian Eno
3/5
Meh
This album was better than his airport one. But wasn't anything groundbreaking or even memorable tbh. Can't even remember what I just listened to so that I can write this review
It wasn't offensive though so I guess it was ok
3 ⭐️
Robert Wyatt
1/5
I hit rock bottom listening to this noise
1 ⭐️
Christina Aguilera
4/5
When I think of Christina Aguilera - THIS is the album I think of!
The first disc was so good. I would have probably 5 starred - I really loved it. Disc 2 wasn't as good. Fantastic voice and some nice songs on there, but it felt like 2 different albums
Candyman is my favourite song of hers, I listen to that all the time. That song is what saved the 2nd half of the album for me
Overall I did enjoy!
4 ⭐️
Beatles
5/5
Let's start off with the ICONIC album photo. One of these days I'll make it to Abbey Road and see the crossroad 🤞🏻
Come Together is an amazing song, what a way to open an album!
Lots of classic songs on this album. I'll be here all day if I talk about them all. Catchy stuff
5 ⭐️
Manic Street Preachers
3/5
This was ok. Wasn't that memorable tbh. Preferred the other album of theirs I had previously - Everything Must Go
3 ⭐️
The Stooges
3/5
Initially I really loved this album. Was heading towards a 5. Then we got to We Will Fall. Absolutely HATED it
That and other parts later on knocked this down to a 3. Sad
3 ⭐️
Björk
2/5
Well this was something
What was up with all the weird panting/sex noises??
Parts of this were enjoyable but I have to rate low due to the weirdness overall. What an incredible voice though!! Also very impressive how they've made this without instruments. Would have been a 5 on skill alone
2 ⭐️
Marianne Faithfull
3/5
Jesus christ lmao
To begin with I didn't like her voice. After reading up about her personal life and struggles, her voice is forgiven
I was pretty bored through it all until the last song started - Why'd Ya Do It. And holy shit the lyrics took me by surprise. Hilarious
Highlights include - "she had cobwebs up her fanny" and "every time I see your dick I see her cunt in my bed". I was so shocked at the surprise vulgar language, also cringed at the repeated use of cock and snatch
For that song alone it's getting an extra star for entertainment value

Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
Pleasant enough album but it dragged on a bit in parts. Not my favourite of the 3 of their albums I've heard either
3 ⭐️
Lambchop
2/5
I was bored during this
2 ⭐️
George Jones
4/5
Really liked this but not quite a 5. Something about this album felt comforting
4 ⭐️
Michael Jackson
4/5
Overall an enjoyable album due to the big hits
But I was expecting more thriller and less filler
4 ⭐️
The War On Drugs
3/5
This is a band I've heard of but never listened to! I'd only heard of them recently through Sam Fender - so going off that I thought they'd be more rock?
This was just coffee shop music to me though. Just blends into the background and nothing of substance. Wasn't bad just very bland. Tea with no milk or sugar
3 ⭐️
Devendra Banhart
4/5
What a beautiful voice! These songs were super chill, I enjoyed it
4 ⭐️
The Avalanches
3/5
This was alright on the whole. A few parts where it got super repetitive, but the rest was ok as background noise
3 ⭐️
The Fall
3/5
Started off strong - I was getting into it. Then towards the end the songs got incredibly repetitive and screechy as if they ran out of steam
Hard to rate so I'll go down the middle and give 3 ⭐️
Frank Ocean
4/5
I was really intrigued about this album. Mainly because I've heard so much about Frank Ocean and Channel Orange but couldn't name you a single song of his. And also because this album cover looks like the easyjet logo
The good songs were really good. Then there were a few bum songs thrown in. So overall it was a good album, but had the potential of being amazing
4 ⭐️
Carpenters
4/5
I don't get what all the hate is for on this album
Big songs and a beautiful voice. It was a good one!
4 ⭐️
Korn
3/5
I saw Korn at a festival once and thought "what the fuck is this" and walked on by
I was only familiar with Freak On A Leash. The rest was decent instrumentally. Liked the guitars - vocals not so much
Album was also way too long but it was better than a lot of stuff I've listened to on here. Giving it an alright rating
3 ⭐️
The Stooges
4/5
Way better than I expected!
Lost me a bit at the end tbh but overall a fun and enjoyable album!
4 ⭐️
Don McLean
3/5
This album peaked at the first track. Was all downhill from there
I'll give it an average rating just because American Pie is such a banger
3 ⭐️
Black Flag
2/5
Track 1 I thought "ok"...
Yeah, then it went completely downhill from there. I don't mind a bit of punk but christ this was bad
2 ⭐️
The Velvet Underground
2/5
BIG YIKES
I loved their self titled album and gave it a 5. That was my first time listening to the band. So imagine my excitement when I saw another album of theirs!
First song was so good, loved it. Then the rest of the songs had horrible screeching guitar noises?! Ruined!
"She's busy sucking on my ding dong" was my final straw lmao. What the fuck was this
2 ⭐️
The Youngbloods
3/5
A weird one to rate really
It was pleasant and I enjoyed it. But it was also pretty boring and was just background noise
Not sure how it can be both, but somehow it is
3 ⭐️
Roxy Music
4/5
Not what I was expecting. Enjoyed it! Lots of different styles blended on 1 album
4 ⭐️
Queen
5/5
YES!! 🔥 now this is some good shit
I relistened to A Night At The Opera before this album and played both back to back. I think I prefer this one ever so slightly
Banger after banger. What a talent Freddie was
5 ⭐️
Peter Gabriel
3/5
An alright album on the whole. It had its moments of weirdness and I feel they let the rest of the songs down
Like why did he start the opening track with guitars screeching?! Unpleasant and ruined the song. The good songs though were very catchy!
3 ⭐️
KISS
4/5
I was really looking forward to listening to this one!
I used to listen to KISS in the car with my dad growing up. All I remember is loving their stuff
Well turns out quite a bit of it is cringy, but they do have some bangers in there!
3.5 but rounding up for nostalgia
4 ⭐️
Sebadoh
3/5
Hm...
First track started and I thought omg a 5 star album. WRONG!
What the hell happened in the middle of this album?? Quite a few songs were decent - some I enjoyed more than others. Then there were some truly terrible ones slotted in
I can't rate too low, so I'm going down the middle
3 ⭐️
Steely Dan
3/5
Meh
I forgot I listened to this tbh and had it unrated for ages. Oops
That's how bland it was. Funnily enough I said something similar for another album of theirs
3 ⭐️
The Chemical Brothers
3/5
This was ok. I liked the beats but they got a bit repetitive
It did pass the time while I was painting furniture though so 🤷🏻♀️
3 ⭐️
Goldfrapp
2/5
Not what I was expecting at all. The only song of theirs I knew previously was Ooh La La - so this was the polar opposite of what I was expecting
Not my cup of tea, was pretty boring and bland sadly
2 ⭐️
Red Hot Chili Peppers
2/5
Feeling slightly attacked by the top comment for this album lmao. I did actually listen to this in my VW Golf while drinking a caramel machiatto... but I was not wearing lycra and I didn't have bikes on a roof rack
I do agree it was catchy in parts, but on the whole this was the equivalent to a plate of unseasoned chicken and rice
Also the singer gives me major creeps and I've never liked them. Wanted to give this album a chance but the lyrics about putting fingers in and monthly blood was the final straw
2 ⭐️
Dolly Parton
4/5
Beautiful voices!
Not all of these songs were amazing but honestly their voices made up for that. Enjoyed this on the whole
4 ⭐️
Kacey Musgraves
1/5
PAIN
I've heard a lot of hype about Kacey and this album in particular. So I was excited to get into this
Oh my god it was horrendous. Her voice grated on me so badly. The lyrics were terrible and cringy. And at parts she sounded like an AI bot. This is what people have been hyping up??
The musical equivalent to spending a day walking around home bargains to be honest. No offence to the woman I'm sure she's lovely, but oh my god never again please
1 ⭐️
Tina Turner
5/5
Go on, Tina! 🔥
What a voice. Thoroughly enjoyed this album, every song as catchy as the next. Fantastic vocals and loved the guitar!
5 ⭐️
k.d. lang
4/5
Wow so first off, I didn't realise k d lang wasn't a man??
Beautiful voice! If the end of the album hadn't wondered off a bit and kept my attention more, it would have been a 5
Loved the old school country vibes. Really enjoyed this album
4 ⭐️
Eurythmics
2/5
Sweet Dreams Are NOT Made Of This
Am I missing something with this or...?
Incredibly boring album I have to say. They have 1 banger and that's it
Maybe it's a generational thing 🤷🏻♀️
2 ⭐️
Fairport Convention
3/5
The first half of the album sounded like music you'd hear at a medieval reenactment. Hated it
The second half was completely different and I loved it!
So super hard to rate for me personally so I'll go down the middle
3 ⭐️
Deep Purple
4/5
Nice! Great guitar on this one. It did start getting a bit repetitive at parts but swiftly moved on
4 ⭐️
Talk Talk
3/5
This was meh. Wasn't offensive, but was pretty forgettable
3 ⭐️
Joy Division
3/5
I'm wary when I see albums on here with loads of 5 star reviews - and I was right again with this one
It was incredibly overhyped. Were there good songs? Yes. But also a lot of shite
The good songs would have given this album a 4. Wasn't 5 star worthy but I enjoyed them. But there was a load of bland songs in the middle which I really can't rate too highly
I guess there's a reason why the album cover seems more popular than the actual contents of the album
3 ⭐️
Arcade Fire
5/5
Another banger album by Arcade Fire!!
Since generating Funeral, I've relistened to that album several times. I really loved it! So I was a bit worried going into this in case it wasn't as good
Well I was wrong - I loved this one too! Can't even pick a favourite song, they're all worthy. I loved the dramatic build ups in the songs, I was fully immersed
5 ⭐️
The Only Ones
2/5
Why did he sound like a corpse
2 ⭐️
Little Simz
4/5
What a nice surprise this album was!
I was familiar with Little Simz but couldn't name you a single song. Turns out I actually knew a few of these
There was something so different about her that makes this album stand out. The lyrics seemed more real, it was refreshing
4 ⭐️
The Young Rascals
4/5
I really enjoyed this album! A very typical 60s sound. A few songs I recognised too, which was a nice surprise
4 ⭐️
AC/DC
5/5
Fuck it - 5 stars, no notes
5 ⭐️
Lupe Fiasco
2/5
Ugh
I was going to give this a 3 because I did genuinely enjoy a few songs. There were some throwbacks here that I'd not heard in years! But there was also a load of shite that should have been left off the album
The reason I'm knocking an extra star off is because I hated the outro that much. It really got on my tits to be honest and I couldn't believe it was STILL going
Maybe there's a reason I hadn't heard these songs in years
2 ⭐️
Heaven 17
3/5
Odd. Questionable lyrics but pretty catchy?
3 ⭐️
Air
2/5
Ehhh. This was ok in parts but also mega annoying. Its a solid 2.5
I've not seen the movie, but I did give up on the book half way through. I think maybe it's just not my sort of thing
2 ⭐️
Duran Duran
4/5
Bangers!!
Not quite a 5 for me but this was a great album. I usually steer away from this sort of music but Duran Duran know how to produce the catchy stuff
A very high 4 ⭐️
Justin Timberlake
4/5
This one really surprised me!
I'm not really a Timberlake fan, but I like a lot of his earlier singles. Nostalgia. I didn't realise how many songs off this album were hits!
A few songs were a bit naff and should have been knocked off - I probably would have given a 5 without them
This took me right back to childhood... what a time
4 ⭐️ This is going to ruin the tour
Def Leppard
5/5
Fuck yeah 🔥
I really enjoyed this album! I see there's a lot of bad reviews but I don't get why in all honesty. Songs were catchy, guitar was good. What's not to like!
I'd never heard Rock of Ages, so I was really surprised when I heard what I thought was Pretty Fly For A White Guy start lmao
5 ⭐️
Happy Mondays
2/5
If you google Bez from Happy Mondays, you will understand why this album sounds the way it does
Funny guys but unfortunately the album was shit. Sorry lads
2 ⭐️
Leonard Cohen
2/5
Jesus christ... another Leonard Cohen album?! This is no.4 for me now and I'm disheartened to see there's 1 more left!
This one was much poppier than the others. The first few songs caught me off guard. They weren't bad to be honest but his voice is still dreadful. I cannot give this a higher score because I truly hate his voice and he sings like a ghoul. Sorry
2 ⭐️
Fugazi
3/5
It was ok, nothing special
3 ⭐️
Tim Buckley
2/5
No Happy to be found - Just Sad
Sorry Tim, your son is better
2 ⭐️
Herbie Hancock
3/5
Enjoyed this in the beginning, but soon got repetitive. 15 mins is too long for a song
Enjoyable on the whole even though it got chaotic in the middle. Nice background music
3 ⭐️
Shivkumar Sharma
3/5
A nice enough album. Was more like background noise though because it sounded like 1 long continuous song
3 ⭐️
Nanci Griffith
3/5
A nice enough album. Didn't particularly like her voice but it wasn't terrible. Not my favourite country music
3 ⭐️
The Kinks
4/5
A nice little album. Didn't enjoy it as much as Face To Face. This one seemed a bit more boring in comparison
4 ⭐️
The Police
3/5
Were they on drugs making this?
I enjoyed Reggatta De Blanc, so imagine my shock when I heard Mother!
This album was weird. You had terrible songs, mediocre songs and then an absolute banger (Every Breath You Take) all mixed in together
Choices were made here... and not good ones
3 ⭐️
Robbie Williams
4/5
I was excited to get this album actually!
I know all his hits, and a few non singles. Robbie was huge when I was growing up. This album is certainly dated, but I liked it. Its the sound of nostalgia
Angels is probably his biggest song. I always hear it sung at karaoke. But for me Let Me Entertain You is peak RW. That music video is ingrained in my brain
I've seen Robbie a few times and he is an incredible performer to be fair to him. I also like that he's speaking out a lot about the fame and the music industry, treatment of bands in particular. He's not a one hit wonder guys trust me lmao
4 ⭐️
Iggy Pop
3/5
Didn't enjoy this one as much as Lust For Life
Wasn't terrible though
