Electric Ladyland
Jimi HendrixThis is a masterpiece of electric guitar and creative freedom. However that’s all it is. The lack of lyrics and track dynamism made me feel bored despite the incredible guitar.

Amazing level of talent and creativity. I’m not a huge U2 fan but this a critically acclaimed album for a reason. One star off because it didn’t convince me to listen to more U2.
This album is beautifully cohesive in sound and lyrical themes. The first time I heard it in 2021, I felt the need to listen to more Lorde. Supercut, The Louvre and Hard Feelings/Loveless all have core memories attached to them and I listen to them regularly. 0.5 rating off because some songs are skippable
Some interesting takes on a very 60s sound but not overly original. Lack of lyrical depth and memorability makes the band seem better suited to a concert opener than a headliner.
4.5/5 Interesting, creative, fun and overall an enjoyable experience. -0.5 for Every Breath You Take romanticizing deeply unhealthy relationships.
Currently 4/5 but may increase with more listening. I didn’t have time to listen to the whole album properly so I’ll definitely be listening again. Love the goth vibes and can completely see why the post-punk nature of this album was influential for so many artists.
It wasn’t bad music but I can’t say I honestly enjoyed this album
List for Life and The Passenger are great songs. I also enjoyed Neighborhood Threat cause it was punk adjacent. The rest of the album reminded me how pedophilia, glorified destruction and uncontrollable ick drive me away from listening to more classic rock
Disappointing album. Adele has an incredible voice but this album felt flat and overly sappy. 21 is much stronger

Honestly I enjoyed this more than expected. The blend of soul, r&b and pop with nods to 60s girl groups creates an intriguing and dynamic sound. I’ve added Back to Black and Me & Mr. Jones to my main playlist because they immediately caught my attention and are 10/10 for dramatically dancing around the house with or without a glass of wine. +1 for the line “what kind of fuckery is this” which caught me by surprise but instantly reached me on a spiritual level.
Not a bad album but I didn’t enjoy it even after listening through twice to give it another chance.
3.5/5 Iconic, creative, and culturally influential album (+4), impressive for a debut album (+1), multiple lyrics that give me ick (-1.5)
Solid album. Fun, interesting and overall enjoyable
Groovy, interesting and weirdly relaxing. No complaints
LOVE the concept, feel ambivalent towards the execution. I didn’t really like most of the songs on this album (I’m not a huge fan of hip hop-pop) but I’m willing to relisten a few times and let them grow on me. The spoken word tracks were an excellent addition and enhanced the theme of the album. This album is rich in cultural and sociological critiques and will thematically hold up well.
Sounds like a worse version of the Mario Kart soundtrack. I respect the experimentalism but didn’t enjoy it
Lively, fun, and brightens rainy days with ease. Also a very nostalgic sound for me since my parents had several Afrobeat CDs including some by Femi Kuti (Fela Kuti’s son)
Love political punk but this was a bit of a slog
Undoubtedly culturally and historically significant album. Lots of energy, anger, and socio-political critique. Simple and effective.
I really liked the sound of this album but found it a little cheesy
Too slow for clubbing, too fast for studying. Not a fan of this kind of electronica. The integration of the streetscapes was cool though.
This is special
I want to like it but the 80s synths have aged poorly and just sound cheesy. The mall pop vibes get on my nerves.
I wasn’t expecting to like this one but it absolutely slapped. Good job Metallica
