Reviews (page 13 of 13)

This album feels like a collection of unfinished songs under the tag of "experimental". I only enjoyed one song, the rest are all a mixture between jazz, indie rock and electronic music that does not sound good at all. If experimental means for Radiohead to enlarge the songs until boredom, it's exactly what the album is, an uninteresting, bland and uninspired intention of making something that ends up sounding rough and repetitive. A very good example of this is Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors.

Just not for me. I'm glad I have finally listened to a whole Radiohead album. I don't need to do so again.

Dreary.

The worst Radiohead album I’ve ever heard. Any other band and no critic would have put it anywhere near this list

I don’t like Radiohead, but I can respect the interesting and innovative things they do. This wasn’t one of those things. Boring and weird from start to finish, like they got bored with making rock, tried electrónica, but didn’t bother learning how to make it first. Terrible.

I'm keen on the great Radiohead albums and never got around to listening to this one due to poor reviews. I agree that this one just doesn't do it.

Way too experimental for me.

really boring

Sounds like someone listened to Brian eno and tried to recreate the experience but with no musical talent. The whole album sounds like an experimental version of Coldplay. Whiney as shit with weird time signatures. If thom Yorke spent more time writing music and less time trying to aurally nosh himself off this would be a half decent album.

a B- collection of Kid-A b-sides by a band I won't listen to any more. Thom and Jonny are Zionists and get all mealy-mouthed and both-sides bad faithers when it comes to the mass murder of civillians. Starving babies, headless babies, screaming parents and wailing children by the many thousands moves them not. Once they were progressive- now they serve the empire. fuck this band. Also, Kid A is leagues better than this, and so is In Rainbows. Why is this album on the list?

Umm... ahh... I forgot. A picture of a little red book with a doodle on the front. What sort of album cover is that! For me, Radio head produced one song of any note, that was only for a couple of weeks until I bored if it, and more because of the guitar than anything else. Boring, whinging, and forgettable.

IT's Radiohead, so it;s mellow, boring, and each song is nearly indistiguishable from the others. Not a fan.

It's my birthday, so I hoped the album generator would toss me a banger for the occasion. Nope, it picked a band I don't like, and this album was not an exception. Radiohead is an overrated band, Thom Yorke's vocals irritate me, and overall the album felt steeped in pretension. Ending with a New Orleans-style funeral march was WTF. Ah well, on to the next one tomorrow!

Oof, not something I'd want to listen to again. Very mellow and slow and harsh on the ears

I was not feeling depressed before. Now I am.

sat through another ~40 minutes of this band again, only confirming that this just ain't it for me. Don't care for the music, don't care for the digital bits, or electronic shit, or whatever you want to call it. It sounds incredibly whiney. Glad I listened to it just to confirm I have listened to plenty of radiohead and they just suck ass imo

Fuck off Thom. Even the half way decent guitar riff on “I might be wrong” gets wasted with his mopey singing. How does a song like “Hunting bears” seem to last for hours when it’s only a two minute song? The whole album felt like it was taking an eternity to finish. The dirge like, lifeless ripoff New Orleans style jazz of “Life in a glass house” was a fitting ending to an absolute shite album. Won’t be back and that’s 2 Radiohead albums I’ll never hear again. How in gods name is this band so f’n popular?

too slow.

Ambivalent about this album. Can’t appreciate it but not sure it’ll be on my fav Radiohead lineup. Does remind me a bit of James Blake.

Ugh. So f-ing slow. This was a waste of my listening time

Schon wieder Radiohead. Sorry, aber die Auswahl ist dermaßen einseitig. Langeweile in Reinkultur!

still got 4 more albums from these cunts left fuck me

I sooooooo don’t get it.

Ich empfehle The Notwist.

Radiohead sucks. The instruments were stolen from a construction site and the singer whines more than my old car when it starts up and more than an nvidia GPU.

Fucking awful.

Painful. I couldn’t wait for this album to end. Some songs were actually ok instrumentally, but then Thom Yorke starts to sing and it’s all over. Whiniest, saddest voice ever. Listen again: no Purchase for my collection: no Favourite Song: Hunting Bears, since it’s instrumental only!

Might be the worst album I've ever heard. Holy shit this was brutal

Dull, boring, whiny, and annoying. I really don't understand the appeal of Radiohead at all.

Originally a 4 that dropped down to a 2. Interesting overall but thumbs down for not commenting on Palestinian Genocide at any point in their career. Actually thumbs down to 1 I was not enjoying myself during this album in comparison to the other album I was listening to today

depressing

Thought this would be OK but didn't enjoy it at all 😞.

I just don’t think I’m a Radiohead fan what was I supposed to enjoy about this

In my youth I absolutely loved Radiohead. Looked forward to every new release, hung on their every word, saw them live. Now in my middle aged I'm re-evaluating their work and I can't help feeling I got swindled by the mopy neo-prog rock.

Moany Radiohead. Always the same. I Don't Get It.

Not my style. I love the early Radiohead but this transition album made me transition out of enjoying them further.

Didn’t meet up to the expectations I had for Radiohead.

I might be wrong is leuk. De rest moet ik nog aan wennen. ...

Radiohead are up there with The Smiths for bands that would be a lot better with a different singer. Anyway, I’m off to listen to something more enjoyable *turns shredder on*

Backing up my belief that Radiohead have one decent song. It is not on this album.

I'm actually offended at how bad this album is. Imagine you're the biggest band in the world, right in your prime, and then you release this tripe. 45 minutes of Thom Yorke dribbling over some awful electronic mess. This album should have been titled 'Hubris'. Why on Earth did this reach no. 1? Because 900,000 dorks were told 'Radiohead are a good band' and gobbled this shite right up. Just because the nerds say an album is good, doesn't make it good. I'm angry on behalf of all of the small musicians that were overlooked because everyone was wanking over this album, instead of using their ears and their brains.

This is maybe the fourth Radiohead album I have heard from this list, and I think two at most would have been totally sufficient. Thom Yorke's breathy whine is hidden under more vague and vaguely uncomfortable instrumentation mumbling about doors or something and I could not care less. Not a single hummable or enjoyable tune on the album, although Hunting Bears, just an instrumental guitar track, was the least objectionable.

The band Radiohead scares me, so I've avoided listening to this album, and therefore my subsequent albums, for a few days. But it's time to face the music. I have a hard time judging this. I don't hate it musically, so it's not a 1. It's definitely not boring, so it's not a 2. But I vehemently don't want to listen to it again, so it can't really be a 3. And you can forget 4 or 5. I'll have to go with a 1, since on some level I DO hate it. I hate that the music is so bleak. I hate that it churns up my insides with some kind of unstated fear - Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors is especially horrifying. I hate that Thom Yorke's voice is hypnotic.

I wish I had amnesia after listening to this burning tire fire

Startet sehr elektronisch mit Syntethizer. Geht dann melancholisch im Creep style weiter. Wilder mix. Aus "typisch" und experimentell. Hin und her gerissen zwischen is nix für mich und klingt ganz cool. 1 Stern. Ich konnte es nicht zu Ende hören.

My least favourite radiohead album. 1

Awful, had to turn it off before half way.

another shite Radiohead album

I’ve been suckered into “giving Radiohead their due” and “giving them a chance”, and quite frankly at 62 years of age I can’t waste 44 minutes of my life listening to their garbage ever again.

Please no more Radiohead! Whiny voice sad music for sad people. Every song sounds the same and drones on and on

Odio radiohead

How many overrated album make this list? Gets marked down for pretentious listings

These albums so far have been a challenge to finish! I love OK Computer but this is utter self indulgent rubbish. Avoid and do your ears a favour.

Nothing. Depressing and dragging. Singing is bad.

At first i was quite impressed but unfortunately this was not sustained whilst listening further. It's depressing and by the end I was considering slitting my throat, theoretically of course. Absolute rubbish

Ja. Så er den hørt - Næste gang skal de betale mig for at høre den!

Dreary as fuck

Didn't care for this one

I'm sure there are those that would describe this as moody and atmospheric, I'm not one of them. It's crap. If I Had to find some positive I could say they play their instruments well, but that's it. 1. Next please

Tämä bändi löytää hämmästyttävän tehokkaasti uusia tapoja imeä musiikistaan kaikki kiinnostavuus. Kerrassaan käsittämätön ilmiö.

I like RadioHead but I Don’t like this album.

Boring even by Radiohead standards

If anyone calls this music, is a moron

Remember the good ol days when people just collected CD's to look part of the Cool Club and bands didn't have to depend on people actually listening to their music to make money? I give you Exhibit A.

Blegh. Hey you know it’s a bad sign when a highly acclaimed album never gets reviews that are like…it’s fun! It’s highly listenable! It’s full of my favorite songs! But instead it’s like, oh it’s so innovative and experimental. I could fart in a microphone for and hour and that would innovate and be experimental. It would still fucking suck. This album is so boring. There are a few moments when something interesting seems to be happening and then either the instruments fail or Thom’s singing ruins everything. Why. The little drawing of the man crying on the cover is me. Right after the Fugazi song I’m So Tired started playing, and that felt like providence. I’m so tired of Radiohead

Nicht meine Richtung

Wait....people like this? This horrible. It was grating. I can't believe people would listen to this willingly.

Ook dit album zat in de erfenis. De cd's waarvan ik alle fijne nummers heb geript naar de laptop. Eens even kijken.

Absolutely awful. 0/10. There's not a single redeeming feature. Every song is utter garbage. Anyone who likes this is a liar.

An intolerabley boring album. I don't get the hype surrounding Radiohead. This isnt one of the albums that has their big hits on it even. It blows me away that something this timid and uninspired can speak to so many people. I'm glad someone gets something out of it though.

One more Radiohead album and I'm planning on abandoning this whole project. Would rather listen to The Smurf's Christmas Party Album on repeat than hear another boring Radiohead album!

Sometimes I absolutely hate the way Tom Yorke sings. This is one of his worst performances ever which is a real shame cause the music is really really fucking awesome. I'd rather listen to Tiny Tim than this.

Often boring. Sometimes sonically unpleasant. Actively skipped one or two that were doing weird things to my nervous system. No thanks.

Never hear anyone talk about this, no wonder - it sucks

Previously rated: The Bends (2/5) In Rainbows (1/5) Hail To the Thief (1/5) Kid A (1/5) ************************* This has to be trolling, right? Either by the band selling this crap as music, or by this list including it as a joke. Monotonous droning over some repetitive beat. That's all this is. How many more albums do we have to listen to from this awful, awful band?

I hate to say it, but pretty much all of it is a little disappointing. The sounds feel far too distorted for my taste and there’s a lot of constant rumbling that makes my head hurt. The rest just feels depressing. Not their best. You and Whose Army? is a bit better (no longer feels like my brain wants to jump out of my head) but a bit meh.

Reminder of why I never listen to them

Not for me. PULK was awful.

listened, but nope

Standout: I Might Be Wrong. not my thing

Not a fan at all. I have tried a few times with Radiohead, and Amnesiac does nothing to change my mind. The songs feel cold and distant, and vocally it leans into that fragile, almost whiny style that I struggle to connect with. After a few tracks it all starts to blur together. I understand that this period was about experimentation and pushing boundaries, but for me it feels more abstract than engaging. There is atmosphere, but very little warmth. It just does not move me in the way great albums should. Favourite track: None that truly grabbed me Least favourite: The overall tone feels repetitive and detached Album artwork: Dark, distinctive and memorable, even if the music does not land for me

Deze snap ik niet

Radiohead was deeply overrated at their best. This collection of B sides that even they didn’t like was torturous to slug through. The only listenable track was the instrumental one.

Von Scheibe gefällt mir nichts.

I just dont get it

duty calls. I'm not a radiohead fan, I tried . no this is the same teen boy bedroom music I never got into - feels bleak, so bleak, plaintive and in no way relaxing. I tried. I even listen to Pyramid song (26M plays on YT music). Not sure why its so uncomfortable for me and so revered by others. No doubt Highly polished and well produced. cant fault that. Is their music polarizing? had to stop.

Ouch. Self indulgent crap. I don’t know why this band is so well regarded. Either whining or noise, or both. Good if you’re having a bad dream or in some fever pitch. This must be a test. Ok, I’ve listened… never again.

Not good. Felt like cotton balls were stuffed in my ear and RENT was banging on my head.

The towering cliffs of Nebraska to throw myself off of. I didn't know what Radiohead's music was like before. Now, I have no desire to know more. One of the titles says it all, "Like Spinning Plates". Yeah, like flat things going nowhere.

Not a fan of this one. Isn’t even good background music.

Much too depressing and chaotic for my tastes.

Too depressing! Hard nooooo!

So bad Thom's voice really grinds my gears and the music just seems so pretentious.

There is alternative music then there is this

Blech - not one of my fav’s

I just simply do not like Radiohead. Pyramid Song was ok. Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors is garbage, as is the rest of it

Just can't gey on with his voice. A struggle to get through the entire LP, another one for my 1001 records not to listen to until I die!

I imagine that anyone doing a 1001 album listening to and reviewing project considers him or her (probably him)self a "music nerd" but obviously there is a giant degree of variation as to what that term means to different people. Some people think that if they have been to five Dave Matthews Band concerts that they are a music nerd and some people think that if you haven't got a top ten list of favorite 1920's-era Zimbabwean throat-singing noise disco artists then you aren't really a music fan at all. I am somewhere in that spectrum, probably on the more basic end, and even in full recognition of that basicness I have some serious apostasies from what I consider to be music nerd orthodoxy. For example, I unironically love Neil Diamond; I cannot for the life of me get what people like about Gang of Four, or post-punk in general; I think Gin Blossoms and Toad the Wet Sprocket were better 90's bands than Nirvana and Peal Jam; I wouldn't kick Air Supply out of bed for eating crackers; and damnit do I hate Radiohead. I think that if Radiohead were just a one hit wonder grunge era band that kept on making some kind of weird music in their subsequent career that a few people really liked then I would probably say, "The singer's voice is not for me, but its okay" and move on, but Radiohead is held up as the end all be all of music nerd music and I just don't get it. OK Computer is okay. Creep is a pretty good song. But everything else they have ever done can be tossed to the bottom of the ocean for all I care. If they come on the radio I turn the channel. I fucking hate them. I think it is mostly Thom Yorke (had to be "Thom" didn't it? Couldn't possibly be "Tom")'s voice, but its probably just everything. Fuck you, Radiohead. Fuck you, music nerds who think everyone has to like Radiohead. I wish I was an amnesiac and could forget that this band ever existed. And I think what makes listening to this garbage even more upsetting is knowing full well that there are probably at least three other shitty Radiohead albums on this list. Let's see . . . yep, four albums total. God help me, I'm going to have to endure In Rainbows again. Kill me now.

This is absolute shit

Litt rart. Litt alt eller hva man skal si. Skjer ikke mye føler ikke særlig.

1. I skipped track one because I just couldnt be bothered lmao currently on track 2 but i'm gonna go back and finish track 1 after this songs ends. 2. This song gives me soundtrack vibes like I can deffs hear this on a tv show during a kind of eerie scene. 3. Searched up the meaning behind the lyrics for this and they're actually deep and also true. This entire song makes me feel so like "wtf is this" which I guess depending on how you look at it, correlates with how you can have that same thinking towards life itself. 4. Songs sounds drastically different from the first three tracks in the sense that it's just the guitar and vocals. not until the last verse that the instruments come in and gives me the same vibe as the previous tracks. Also I learnt a new word: "cronies" 5. Main guitar riff is cool. I'm noticing that most of these songs hit the 4 min mark but lyrically, they're quite short so there's a lot of space just filled in with the instruments. 6. I just know that I wont like any songs on this album but if I had to pick; this is my fav song on the entire album because it's the only chill one in terms of production lollll its just the vocals and light instrument back track yaaay 7. Okay this track is also very chill in terms of production but its just a bit eerie so number 6 still wins lol. The eerie vibes parallels well with him repeatedly singing "release me" 8. The genius annotation for this song, specifically the last verse is craaazy when you realise that this song was made in 2001 and still rings true, if not even MORE true now in 2023. 9. No lyrics, just guitar. 10. The annotation for this song is interesting as well. I'm seeing a pattern between these songs all having something to do with the government, politics and large cooperation's. Very cool! 11. I am loving the jazzy feel from the trumpets! I actually think this might be the track that I like the most of this entire album and only because of the Jazz feel haha Overall, very interesting! The lyrics for these songs as well were quite "out there" in terms of bashing the government etc but yeah. I most likely won't listen to this album ever again but it was really cool to listen to a genre of music I don't like.

Not my style of music

This album was not for me. The drawn-out haunting-esque vocals on these songs did not work for me the way they do on some of Radiohead's songs I'm more familiar with. Unfortunately, I didn't care for a single song on this album.

Experimental, but not in a good way. Felt like they were trying to make a Nine Inch Nails album. Not sure why this album is on this list.

Eh, not my thing

Just not for me. None of the songs clicked.

Jsuis VRAIMENT pu capable d’endurer ça ptite voix geignarde de pleurnicheur sur cette instru de BS.

What I imagine death sounds like

Cheer up Radiohead it might never happen

Radiohead is just not my vibe. I feel like I only ever hear about 1 or 2 of their songs and whenever I try another song, I just loose interest immediately. I can get behind the jazzy bit in "Life In a Glasshouse" because it's not just a solo whinefest.

Is this supposed to make me feel depressed?

No. everything from the deliberately difficult to understand vocals, slow as possible song openings to even the album work with the sketch on a book of a crying person everything screams "I'm misunderstood and special, not like the rest of the world". The music itself is Radiohead at their worst, dull and depressing while still being impenetrable.

This is such a quiet album barely anything cool goin on. Sounds like “music of the future”

Not a fan. I really feel bad for this guy because he seems really upset about everything.

Not good for my head.

Not for me. Music is rather 'out there'.
