Feels like a proto-hail to the thief but a reaction to kid A

not sure about it as far as radiohead goes, songs were too long and nothing stood out to me amongst all the noise.

Not my favourite Radiohead album, too whiny.

I'm very glad that Radiohead decided to separate Kid A and Amnesiac instead of making a double album, because the net products are a great album, and this album. Amnesiac feels like a less whole album to me; it almost feels like session B-sides. There are some gems in here though, so it's not all that bad. But off the top of my head, it's easily in the bottom-3 of Radiohead albums.

This is about the point where they lost me. I loved The Bends and OK Computer but after that they just got a little too downbeat and drony.

eh eu gosto de ok computer e rainbows e não sou muito fan de kid a. pelo que eu ouvi dizer esse album é kid a 2, então sei la. radiohead é uma banda complicada, justamente por eles inovarem demais pra um lado depressivo, algumas das musicas nesse album são pra mim aconchegantes de alguma forma, mas tambem são bem esqueciveis. pyramid song é legal, cabe bem nessa descrição q eu acabei de dar. eu gosto da maneira como ela é repetitiva nos acordes mas com novos elementos cada vez. agora vem pulk que é exatamente o que eu não gosto em kid a. you and whose army é boa tambem, o jeito como evolui pra uma explosão lembra ok computer. glasshouse soa como jazz meio king crimson ate. em geral é um bom album, preferi bem mais que kid a. talvez eu não seja avançado o suficiente ainda pra entender a suposta genialidade de kid a, mas eu não ligo, esse album me soa como musica consistente mesmo e não puro caotismo repetitivo eletronico, e é isso que importa. talvez eu tenha que re escutar kid a? nah eu não quero.

Not a huge Radiohead fan. Album was mediocre.

This was the point at which I started liking Radiohead's album covers more than the music. I miss the guitars. It's not even that this sounds bad and several moments draw me in, but this also puts me to sleep after a bit. I'm an old man and I require an old man's rock n roll. I Might Be Wrong, Knives Out, and Life in a Glasshouse are all standouts. It just ain't the experience I want going in.

This is what comes to my mind when I think about Radiohead, and unfortunately is the worst Radiohead album I got on the 1001 list (this is the sixth Radiohead album I got here). It's sad that, since they are a band I like, the "standard" song that comes to my mind is not their best work and instead is this one. This is a 2-star album with an extra point for the excellent jazzy last song.

There were some nice tracks in here, but unfortunately there were a few too many that felt like just whininess on top of dissonance. It had potential but some of the artistic choices were just a bit over the top.

They have a very good following! This album is so depressing. I can’t imagine who the target audience are. If you weren’t down before listening, you would be by the end. If you were already depressed, it would tip you over the edge. I can see they aren’t afraid to experiment and they are blazing there own trail, which is commendable in a world of commercialised crap. It’s just not for me. My Rating: ***

Radiohead said that this album wasn’t leftovers from Kid A but I sure as hell sounds like leftovers from Kid A. It’s still Radiohead though, right?

Not great. I lost interest after their first couple of albums, never quite worked for me since.

For whatever reason, I never really got into any Radiohead albums after OK Computer (which I very much like). Amnesiac is fine, just whatever the thing was that "got me" with OK Computer wasn't quite there for me on this album. Maybe it needs several listens to "get it"?

While I do enjoy some songs of theirs, I am generally pretty indifferent to them. This wasn’t a bad album but I feel like it’s more atmospheric than anything, like something you’d have on in the background of a small group gathering where everyone is really high. 2.5/5, rounded up to 3/5.

It feels like this is the late to the party missing link between „OK Computer“ & „Kid A“. Some songs really are remarkable but as an album it doesn’t work for me. Especially since this list lacks so many other incredible masterpieces Radiohead‘s segue‘ish collection makes no sense to be featured here. 2.5

An entirely different album when listened to on headphones. I'll return to this. Maybe beginning to get the people who reckon Radiohead better after OK Computer are coming from at least.

Companion piece to Kid A and the resemblence is unmistakeable one can easily see that they are from them same sessions. Not as immediately bracing and engaging as Kid A. Less focused in approach so can't help but seem less groundbreaking and forward looking. It has some stellar moments, however; Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army, Knives Out, I Might Be Wrong and Morning Bell which is unexplicably on both Kid A and Amnesiac. But there are also pieces of 100% filler. Can't help but wonder how great an album we would have ended up with they had released just one all killer / no filler album from these sessions. Still a fine album that I was happy to discover 3.5 stars

Well this isn't my favourite Radiohead. I would say the weakest of the albums around that time that I absolutely love. Feel like this one is more reflective of Thom Yorke's solo stuff. I did enjoy most of it but it left me unmoved compared to albums like Pablo Honey

Their musicality and intelligence in songwriting is always apparent, but they simply fail to create something that just doesn’t sound boring.

I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge Radiohead fan. I’ve heard OK Computer and In Rainbows, and while I appreciate them for their talent and creativity, it isn’t something that speaks to me. Not to say this doesn’t have its moments, however. I loved the more atmospheric tracks in the back end. The title track is euphoric, and Hunting Bears tells a lot in its simplicity. The moments I don’t dig as much are the harder hitters; Yorke’s vocals are quite grating on the opening track, for one. The ending tracks feel flat, too, which was a note I had for the whole album but it became prominent at the end. Still, I don’t regret listening to this. Some of my favorite Radiohead tracks land on this project, which is why I rate it above average. It’s just a bit of a slog to get there.

2.5ish stars. Personally, I think Radiohead has a sweet spot between modern rock and postmodern experimental... this is over the experimental line for me.

With this record, it felt like Radiohead was continuing a trend starting from the brilliant Kid-A to make themselves more unrecognizeable musically following the massive critical and commercial success of Ok Computer. Applaud their artistic ambition at the time, and there are moments here to be sure (Pyramid Song, I Might Be Wrong) but the band really make some left turns and it doesn't always resonate. Sometimes it sounds plain weird. In the end they probably had to go through these few series of records to get to the other side towards some of their later fine and mature work.

I really liked this Coldplay album... much more experimental than their other stuff! (jk @Ted!) This album is really good (3.5 stars?) but won't be a multiple-play repeat for me.

This album is really overrated to be completely honest, yeah I like Radiohead they’re probably in my top 10 favourite bands but this isn’t much special in my opinion. Other than a few highlights it’s one of Radiohead’s worst albums to be completely honest (it’s worse than Pablo Honey) … You’ve got packt like sardines in a crushd tin box which is really boring and monotone than pyramid song which is good but might as well be the most overrated Radiohead song amongst the fanbase. Pulk/ pull revolving doors must be a joke, honestly how could an album with this song have fairly positive critical reception? The album does admittedly improve though after these first three, you and whose army is great emotional spiralling builder that forms into insanity towards the end, then while I’am not too sure on his singing on this track I might be wrong is a cool little rock tune, Knives out is one of late career Radiohead’s best songs it’s absolutely amazing for every second of it’s runtime and (while I know i’am in the minority) I much prefer the amnesiac version of morning bell. Then it slumps again with Dollars and cents the most forgettable song in Radiohead’s career and hunting bears which is admittedly a cool instrumental but I would’ve preferred it to just be one minute instead of two. Luckily this rather unbalanced album is saved by it’s last two songs, like spinning plates is the most interesting track on the album featuring reversed vocals (even if the song is only one verse long) then jazzy closer life in a glasshouse might as well be my favourite Radiohead closer it’s an amazing left turn to end the kid a and amnesiac duo of albums. It’s a rollercoaster of an album but I really like the best moments a 3/5.

Can’t say this isn’t a good album, but I tend to by pass it when listening to Radiohead’s discography. Not sure it can ever get out of Kid A’s shadow. Deserves to be on the list, but I would rank it behind, Kid A, In Rainbows, OK computer and even the bends. Maybe my fault for not giving it as much time as the other albums.

I can't say I've ever really enjoyed this album. Because I was such a fan of The Bends and OK Computer, it bummed me out when they "evolved" their sound and direction as a band. I came to accept and enjoy it by the time they released In Rainbows, but honestly never got back into Amnesiac. While they are undoubtedly all ridiculously talented musicians, I still find this album pretty uninspiring.

Radiohead is an acquired tasted I haven’t acquired yet. The first album of theirs I’ve properly listened to all the way through and it more or less confirmed to the ideas I had it my head. Tense, nervy atmosphere with Thom Yorke’s painful wince over the top of it. There’s a lot to like about this formula, but it just starts dragging after a while. Amnesiac was a perplexing listen for me, and I want to give it its due for obscuring the boundaries of what pop/rock music should be. That doesn’t make it an entirely gripping listen though, and I felt this was just a little too stale after a while. “Knives Out” was probably my favourite track, and it’s not really surprising that it’s the most conventional in structure on the whole album. Not quite sure what to make of Radiohead but no doubt they’ll reappear on this list.

Very difficult to grasp hold of, to understand the message or to relate to the mood. Creative, absolutely. Intriguing - I’ll give it that. Perhaps a piece of music to understand on further listens? Maybe. But where to listen? Kitchen, car, commute? Working? Playing? Relaxing (LOL)? How does such music fit your life?

Not my favorite of radioheads

I’ve been dreading Radiohead coming up on this, and I know there’s a few of their albums on here. I’ve never, like, plunged into their archives for a comprehensive study, but I’ve given them an honest shot many times, and aside from parts of In Rainbows, I really dislike what they do. And this is frustrating to me, since I know a lot of people who really like them; like with country music I can just write it off as alien tastes, but these are people whose tastes I otherwise align with! I just walk away from the music feeling sad or annoyed, what am I missing?!

Best Song: Life in a Glasshouse. The jazz brass instrumentals really helped ground the music, and served as a good background for the vocals. Maybe Radiohead really ought to be a jazz band. Worst Song: Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors. I actually quite liked the bassy instrumentals, but the real experimental vocals did nothing for me. Overall: As technically competent and musically experimental Radiohead might be, I'm always left feeling like I've listened to an album with absolutely no soul. Like music written by a melancholic AI.

Radiohead is always a treat to listen to. This album was quite experimental (as always) and trippy and cool. I’m definitely glad I listened to it but I don’t think I care to return to this specific album

I was clicking around to start to play this album and I mistakenly played the first 1/2 hr of their In Rainbows album. That's a mighty fine album. Then I started to listen to Amnesiac. Radiohead's music grows on you. Their songs are frequently more enjoyable the second or third time they are listened to. By the same token, I think Amnesiac was more enjoyable since I got primed with 30 min of In Rainbows. Still not sure I can get to a 4 on this. But I will have a 4 for In Rainbows!

What a trippy and slick electronica. It's too interesting to be compared to an elevator music. It's quite fun and great in some places. A hit and miss. But that's the point of experimental rock right? I knew it's the "sibling" of their beloved album, "Kid A", but personally, it doesn't have the "outtakes" vibe. It's an album on its own, and a slightly boring one.

Solid album but I can definitely see why Kid A gets all the attention. Amnesiac is good in it’s own way, but it lacks punch and tends to meander at times.

Radiohead is quite experimental on this album; everything has an ethereal feeling about it that is quite entrancing. The tracks on this album was incredibly cohesive; they went together and felt like one big piece of art. That is to say, even their experimental work seems very themed and works well when put together. Still, while the theme and the album cohesion seems spot on, I still found this album to be a little bit improvisational and drawn out. This album was definitely a fascinating listen, but I wouldn't call it a favorite.

Amnesiac is the fifth album by English rock band Radiohead. The album is highly acclaimed and is certified platinum in the UK and US. Musically, it has the same vibes as the band's previous album Kid A, so electronica, jazz, and krautrock influences are included along with the band's signature alternative rock. This further divided fans along whether you preferred this new style of music, or the band's earlier straight forward rock music. I was left conflicted about this album because I have liked every previous Radiohead album. It's similar to Kid A, but some songs don't feel flushed out - almost like they were thrown together last minute or even that they were unwanted songs from Kid A that didn't get much additional care. The patchiness of the album almost took away from the highlights, but I still think this is a great album from Radiohead.

It sounds like leftovers right? Like some of the experiments are cool, I love maybe 2 songs here, but it’s so disjointed. I’m too tired to write much of a review for it, but lemme put it this way: “Pyramid Song” and “Knives Out” are two of Radiohead’s best songs, hands down. They will never fail to blow me away. Other than those two songs, NOTHING ELSE HERE NEEDS TO BE KEPT. Other than those two, the best songs here are obviously half-formed and barely justifiable as experimental anyway. Arts for Arts sake is one of my many pet peeves. Its like if a film looks stylish and is state of the art alternative but has no soul or plot, I would not appreciate it. Here, I do appreciate the sounds of a tin being struck but ultimately it felt dull not deep. The only song I could get behind was Life in the Glasshouse with the brass section. I love brass. Its kind of sad as I love everything up to OK computer and this feels more like the Radiohead I knew and obsessed over.

Radiohead haben mich noch nie wirklich begeistern können, so auch diesesmal. Wobei ich zugeben muss, dass mich die zweite Hälfte kurz gehooked hat, dann aber schnell wieder verloren. Das erreicht mich einfach nicht, ich kann aber anerkennen warum die hier auftauchen

Felt like listening to a soundtrack to a psychological thriller. This is one of the rare times we should’ve stopped a group of privately educated white men from “experimenting” musically.

Definitely not as good as earlier radiohead stuff, not my style at all but I guess its alright.

Finally free of Radiohead after today! I'm up-and-down on their discography and you definitely have to learn to tolerate them through this list. But sometimes, you get surprised. Radiohead were well into their experimental phase by 2001, barely a year after the release of the now-acclaimed "Kid A". "Where do you even go from there?" some might ask. The close release window to "Kid A" suggests that some of the content here may have been cut from that album, which actually seemed to be partially true from what I read. You hear that early on, with all sorts of electronic elements being used. Overall, with the exception of a select few tracks, this simply wasn't as interesting or novel as "Kid A", though. Just felt that the "meat" here wasn't as tasty, with the exception of the abruptly jazzy closer "Life in a Glasshouse".

Radiohead sits in a realm of experimentation and innovation. It begs to be interpreted and analyzed. Is this the greatest album? The soundtrack heard overheard at an alien DMV? You decide and make peace with your choice.

Heard Before? Of course. Notes: - last i checked, Radiohead is STILL trying to avoid the obvious - this is an entire album of odds n sods. - that said, there are some fascinating textures in these half-written songs, glimmers of interesting production choices. - but on the whole it suffers from the same problem as Kid A but much worse: musical innovations pilfered from exciting contemporary electronic musicians, watered down and doused with sad-sack yowling. - i would probably be more inclined to like this (many of my favorite sounds and production ideas are present) if it weren't accompanied by a tsunami of hype and adulation. context kills. Verdict: Today this is just a boring album of tossed off sketches. But back in 2001, when you had to wait three hours to pirate one song with dial-up internet and all you got was "Hunting Bears"? Rage-making. Listen Again? I was actually pleased to hear "Life in a Glasshouse" again. But no, I don't need or want this album in my life.

Two songs stood out to me but mostly it sounded like a parody of Radiohead.

I like Radiohead. I’ve enjoyed other albums. This one didn’t do it for me. I don’t know if it was too somber or experimental but this one was a bit of a slog. Glad I listened to it but I kept waiting for one great song to excite me and it just didn’t happen. Life in a Glasshouse was a highlight I guess?

Some tracks were a little too experimental for me, but overall the album is very unique and interesting. The music style across the album is incredibly varied, which I enjoyed. Appreciate it as a creative musical exploration but not an album I would play on repeate.

Meh this album is overrated and a whole lot of incoherent nonsense. Still has some good standalone songs. 4.5/10

Honestly, most of it was kinda borning ngl. Knives Out and I Might be Wrong were great, and Pyramid Song too ig. Otherwise I wasn't too impressed

*2001. *Man, I keep trying to like Radiohead, and they just make it so difficult. *This might be the worst of the Radiohead albums so far - boring, tedious, electronic, whiney. *I have to imagine Radiohead got traction only because angsty British teens in the 90s/00s weren't getting enough sunshine and Vitamin D, so this spoke to them. As an almost 40-year-old woman in Florida, this just isn't it for me. RATING - 5/10

Here we (mostly) have dreamy background noise paired with a thin, slightly whiney drone of a voice. As has been heard before. And before. And before besides that one of theirs I liked. I just don’t get it. can someone explain to me what’s so good about this? Anyone?

Monotonic, repetitive melodies; repetitive lyrics, I get the feeling the singer is falling asleep or stoned at the microphone. The percussion is the most engaging aspect of this and for that it gets a two. I Might Be Wrong, Dollars and Cents has some redeeming qualities. The others not so much

Something about this album just makes me feel incredibly anxious the whole time it's playing. He just whines at exactly the right frequency to make me feel like something awful might happen. Favourite song: Knives Out Least: Pulk/Pull Revolving Door

A Radiohead album, but that doesn't mean it's good. While it has really good songs like "Pyramid Song", "Knives Out" and "Life in a Glasshouse", there were times on the rest of this album where I was like "what the hell am I listening to?". The best example for this is the third song, like genuinely, what the fuck is that song, it's boring and the vocals are awful. Anyway, this wasn't the greatest listening experience, surely one of their worst projects, if not the worst.

I'm glad the other reviews aren't just full of people who think anything Radiohead makes is gold. My second Raidiohead album. My first was In Rainbows which I was highly disappointed with given all the hype around it. This time around my expectations were lower, but I still liked it less than In Rainbows. I just can't get into Radiohead. The songs I do like by them come from the earlier albums, so maybe there is still a chance for them to click for me. Favorite Track - Hunting Bears Least Favorite Track - Morning Bell/Amnesia ⭐️⭐️

This is the third or fourth album by this band on this list - talk about over-tepresented. It offers the same as the others - mediocre music, bland writing and atrocious vocals.

Kid A was a complete world. Amnesiac is what didn't fit in it — the offcuts from the same sessions, reassembled into an album. Some of it is interesting. None of it hits the same way. 2/5 — Kid A's shadow is a hard place to stand.

Makes me want to go lie down in my bed and cry. Not exactly a quality I'm looking for in music. As in Kid A, I like some of the sounds (here, especially "I Might Be Wrong"), but wouldn't listen to this ever again. I am certain that I am not a Radiohead fan and never will be.

I'm a bit surprised that this album is included on this site, my understanding of it is that it's the b-sides of "KID A" an album I love, probably my favorite RH record. And while perhaps its unfair to judge an album as anything but an individual experience, so many of these songs feel like less complete versions of songs on "KID A." To use the most popular song off this album as an example, "Pyramid Song" feels like "How to Disappear Completely" part 2. It places in a more critical mood than I'm used to when it comes to listening to music, and as I am now in said mood, lemme spit my shit. This might be the worst that Thom Yorke has sounded an album, which lemme be clear, he is one of my favorite rock singers. Nearly every performance feels dejected, a tone that isn't inherently bad, but one that can sound so mfing sleepy when it's not fully committed to. Like, pleaaase listen to this version of "Morning Bell" and tell me that he's trying. There are also multiple attempts at making their version of a trip-hop song that never fully click. And why is "Hunting Bears" on this album, it sounds like an attempt to start a Funkadelic song but anytime they keep practicing the first bar of the solo over and over. Okay, and I know I just talked so much shit, but I don't think this is a bad album, maybe just a bad Radiohead album. I do like "Pyramid Song" and "You and Whose Army" though. 2/5

All of these songs sound the same. And they sound the same as basically every other Radiohead song I've heard released this century. Sell paranoia someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

It is entirely possible that I need to give this another listen, but I found this incredibly dull. Sorry, Radiohead, not today.

Dear God is this tedious, the opposite of a "treasure trove of delights" promised by the 1,001 book. I don't think I've listened to Amnesiac since it came out, and now I remember why. I like "Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box," but little else on here lands, and "Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors" veers into Radiohead parody/caricature. I can get with bleakness if there's something behind it, but Amnesiac's icy remove is almost totally bloodless. And boring.

Very slow, soft, and psychedelic which I can withstand but it did leave me yearning for more contrast. Instrumentally heavy at times.

I really, really want to "get" Radiohead, but so far that's not happening. While this album is at times nice to listen to, I found most of the tracks to be boring and incohesive. Honestly, the whole album just felt like a collection of B-sides.

I gave this a 2* last time I had it come up, and that still holds. Slow stoner music, and the extra effects also made the lyrics difficult to pick out to find a redeeming quality.

No wonder this album never hit my radar. Started out great but by the end it was soooo draggy. I guess I'll average and give it a 2! Eff it!

I don't mind music that's more on the experimental side but you gotta make it somewhat engaging to listen to at the very least. I just found myself forgetting these songs as soon as they ended, and not to mention his vocals just did nothing for me either. It had its moments here and there but it just wasn't it. Still not a 1 though cause I'd rather listen to this any day of the week than some of the other albums from this list that I've listened to. 2/5

There's times where i get it, and times I definitely don't get it. Pyramid Song would be my limit on liking something that's a bit more off kilter, and Knives Out was good. Knowing some other Radiohead hits i might like another album a little more but probably not by a lot.

I still don't get Radiohead. The music is OK to listen to in the background, but it just doesn't resonate with me on any notable level. My apologies to any Radiohead fans that read this—just speaking from my heart. ★★

This is weird. This is hard for my brain to listen to. Very experimental. Electronic music is not my cup of tea but I do appreciate the amount of work that would have gone into an album like this. There were only 2 songs that I would probably listen to again. I felt like I was losing my mind

It was good, It didn't catch me completely, since the sounds are ambient-like, and more in line with the flow of the albums, not my favorite but I appreciate a few of them.

This is your free pass, reader. You do not need to listen to Amnesiac before you die. I don't believe there is any universe outside of the one we live in where Amnesiac must be heard before death. There are good songs on the album, but 80% of this record is musical backwash--outtakes and rehashes from Kid A (of which I'm not a big fan anyway, but that's another story.) Life in a Glasshouse is a beautiful, unique piece of work, and Pyramid Song is a must-hear across their entire discography. But the majority of the album is sonic experiments that don't deserve to be fleshed out into full songs. They don't even try to flesh out Hunting Bears! When compared to Kid A, which it must be given the context in their discography, Amnesiac has the lesser version of Morning Bell, the lesser guitar interlude...it even has two songs that sound essentially the same. I am a Radiohead fan, and I don't have it in me to hate this album completely, but I have to give it this score to just let this site know. It does not need to be here. You do not need to hear this before you die, you don't need to hear this at all.

not a fun of Radiohead, guess it's a fine listen, but I just can't force myself to like any of it

This album makes me concerned for Thom Yorke. Like, is the poor guy ok? He sounds like he's just been shot up with Novocain before walking into the studio to record. Then the combination of music, album cover art, and lyrics on this album make me feel like I'm trapped in dystopian pit of despair (and not in a cathartic, good good way.) The first time I tried to listen to this, I had to turn it off and walk away from the computer. I really disliked it. I had to come back several hours later with a fresh mind in order to give it another fair shot. Now I really borderline hate it? It took my full attention to get through the whole thing in one sitting. My hope is that there are better Radiohead albums on this list because this one is for the bin, not The 1001 list. If someone can please explain what I'm missing about this album being "so good", please do. I don't see why anyone would put this album on the Top ### lists or give it all the awards it's received. I lived through the 2000s and I didn't see it to be worthwhile then. It's 2026, I don't think it's worthwhile now. Album's saving grace: "Life In a Glasshouse" 🎺

I'd never heard this one before. I'm afraid it marks the point where I finally give up trying to appreciate Radiohead's post-OK Computer albums. I couldn't honestly pick out anything to distinguish this from Kid A or Half to the Thief. Every song feels like the same tempo, the same mood, the same musical style. I enjoy a lot of dark and melancholy music, but I can't understand how anyone can listen to this funereal meandering for pleasure.

There are few songs here I like, that to me sound like Radiohead. To me they apexed at OK Computer and after that it's mostly been irrelevant to me. The experimental stuff on this album is not at all interesting to me.

Day 85 - 2001 - Radiohead, Amnesiac Okay, I'm going to tell you guys a secret. I don't know if it was snobbery, distaste, or what but I never listened to Radiohead on purpose. I mean, of course I know "Creep," because that song was E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E when it first came out in 1992 (!). But also, I was a musical PURIST, FFS. I went and saw Oasis with Eric one time and he got mad at me because I was kind of making fun of Wonderwall. Like I thought I was cool as fuck because I refused to play certain kinds of music because it was too "mainstream" or whatever. Meanwhile, I was still popping in my Whitesnake CD on rare occasions. Don't tell anyone that, either. So, here we go - I'm going to say it: holy shit, this album is really good, and I'm sort of sad that I didn't give Radiohead a chance back in the olden days. There is a LOT going on here: classical, jazz, electronica, strings, bass, everything. I legit sighed when it popped up for me this morning, and I got out the shitty earbuds and immediately popped them out and got the good headphones off the charger. *Of note: I generally start writing these at the beginning of the album so I can get it started, add some stuff halfway through, and then I pop back through songs to find my standout. The above was written before I hit my breaking point. The first half of this album is mostly non-lyrics driven, and by Knives Out, I figured out why I never got into Radiohead: Thom York's voice. There is something about the tone and pitch of his voice that does not work for me. At All. By Dollars and Cents, I was ready to bail, which is really a shame because there are some amazing songs at the beginning of the album, including Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors. You know how when you're somewhere and there's a small child that just hits that whiny pitch that drives a want to punch someone, anyone, hard in the face? Maybe not the child, but no one would REALLY fault you if you did punch the child (I am not advocating punching children, but you know...) Thom York is that child for me. Sorry Thom. It's not you, it's me. I wanted to love this SO BAD and had to skip through the rest of the songs as soon as he started singing. I tried to hold out for "Life in a Glasshouse" because jazz trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton did a WHOLE THING on that song but then Thom started and bye. Standout: Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors

Unfortunately, I kind of liked it. The first quarter had some interesting songs that feel like they would be appropriate in situations deliberately intended to make someone uncomfortable or discontentful. Or maybe Im just a fan of quirky and weird. alot of albums have a very simialr sound all throughout, and this one for the first half each one has a distinct enough sound, for better or worse. However, the leads voice kind of kills it for me quite a bit. he sounds pretty whiny, and the further I got into the album, the more over it I was getting. The lows are just a bit too low and numerous for me, and the highs are infrequent and mildly interesting at best.

Amnesiac reminded me that I didn't like the experimentation of Kid A. This was marginally better, but still dreamy, dark and distant. Weird touch to run the penultimate track, Like Spinning Plates, backward, but Thom Yorke's vocals are equally disconnected either way. I did like the jazz funeral sounds on Life in a Glasshouse.

I'll give it a 2, but that's because I know people loved this record. I don't get it now. I didn't get it then. I got to see a few bands in clubs, in theaters and then arenas – and Radiohead is one of them. Amazing live band, but there's not a single track on this album that does a thing for me except want to skip over it.

The album was artistic and moody but also kinda blended together. It started over and I didn't realize it until track 2.

Radiohead is that kind of Band where I would listen to a complete best of album but not to the normal albums

Simply put - not for me. You can't find much wrong with the composition. There's just not much that sounds good to revisit. Although, I'm probably part of the problem in this regard.

I've never been a fan of slow rhythms in the majority of songs, moreso when it engulfs the song. I couldn't finish the album, but if there was a good song (to me) among the 3 i missed, it must've been the exception rather than part of the album's essence.

I can hear Radiohead for sure, the beginning of what will become okay computer. Pyramid song I remember from the quest in cyberpunk of the same name. I am at work so I am not fully listening. I think it is a good album regardless and has the electronic and sampled sound that is iconic of Radiohead, as well as the melancholy that makes their music perfect for film and cinema

For a band that is already entrenched in my mind as the epitome of dull calling an album amnesiac is apt affair as the title suggests; completely forgettable. Radiohead is overrated and this album is not their best effort.

Not a radio head fan no matter how hard I try

Too depressing even for me and I'm not averse to a bit of misery when it comes to music.

I once tried to get in Radiohead in high school to seem aloof and cool or whatever but I can’t pretend that is my truth (with exception to Talk Show Host as the intro song to hot young Leo in Romeo + Juliet, that was very authentically important to my teen self). Knives out was quite lovely, but this dragged a bit for me on the whole and I accidentally put on something else part way through forgetting the assignment which is never a good sign. Don’t worry though everyone I quickly remembered and went back and finished this like a good album reviewer. I will try harder when the next Radiohead album inevitably pops up on this list

it is said that, to this day, in an isolated valley in central england, if you listen very carefully, you can hear the only consonant thom yorke ever fully pronounced echoing gently from the hills. mushy, indistinct, sonically complex but compositionally uninnovative song construction produces an album that skitters off of my brain like a drop of water on a hot griddle. to be fair, if you don't have a strong aversion to the deliberately out of tune vocal style, it's probably a lot more palatable.

Enjoyed for the first half and then I'm sorry but..Thom Yorke get very grating. Radiohead just isn't for me!

I think it's safe to say I'm not crazy about Radiohead. This album didn't assault my ears or anything but it's just kind of bland.

This is a droning borefest. When the trumpet hit during the last song, it actually startled me a bit. I had checked out that much. Kid A felt like they discovered Aphex Twin, and took parts of his music to create something interesting, if not revolutionary in the rock genre. Amnesiac feels like they listened to a Sigur Ros album, and missed the point completely. Really disappointed with this album.

Radiohead oh Radiohead... We zijn vaker niet dan wel vrienden, maar elke keer ga ik het toch proberen zo neutraal mogelijk aan te vliegen! Eerste nummer vond ik eigenlijk opvallend mooi, ik hoor wat meer elektronische invloeden heb ik het idee! Daarnaast is de zang, normaliter mijn grootste minpunt met Radiohead, deze keer minder prominent of zeikerig aanwezig doordat het zwaar ge-edit is. Meer van dit alsjeblieft! Nee echt, meer van dit, want bij Pyramid Song zijn we gewoon weer terug bij good old Zeikerige Thom... Ik heb het idee dat er veel sterkere effecten op de zang zitten bij dit album. Thom is nauwelijks nog te verstaan en je hoort veel meer de instrumenten op de voorkeur, dat bevalt me eigenlijk wel! Laatste nummer is prachtig, dat geef ik direct toe maar dat is voor mij ook voor de zeer prominente plek voor de saxofoon. Daar komt zo ontzettend veel emotie vanaf. Ik denk ondertussen dat als je Radiohead wilt begrijpen, echt wilt begrijpen, dat je gewoon in een gigantische depressie moet zitten. Ja nee, het is hetzelfde liedje als altijd; - Instrumentaal super vet en experimenteel - Zang is matig en zorgt er bij mij althans voor dat ik me toch nogal verveel tijdens dit album - het is ok allemaal, ik snap gewoon niet echt wat er nou zo wereldschokkend aan deze band is dat elke scheet die ze ooit hebben gelaten op de lijst moet... Track 1: Well this was a little jazzy. That said, I felt as though I was listening to a less keyboard-forward Muse album. Track 3: OK this is like that really modern jazz that I don't understand. Also why do I feel like I'm sitting a plane that's just taking off while being chased by police cars for the last minute? Track 4: This is the bridge between the Beatles and Hozier that I never knew existed. You're welcome. Track 5: I Might Be Wrong, but this is a bop. Tracks 6-8: Eh. Track 9: Oh this one is really cool too. Track 10: Back to Muse vocals. Track 11: Am I about to throw stones at this track? (pun intended). No because it's kinda jazzy too. Overall: I never realised just how samey a lot of male British groups sounded before listening to this.

The lead singer's voice is just so....yuck. Yes, I'm aware everyone else likes Radiohead. LOL

Realistically this is a 2.2 for me. It’s a little abstract and weird, and didn’t really have any songs I clung to. Basically why I got out of Radiohead fandom as quickly as I got out. A few moments I really enjoyed the musicality.
