Reviews (page 11 of 13)
Not a fan. Slow stoner music, and the extra effects also made the lyrics difficult to pick out to find a redeeming quality.
Again Artist and album that I haven't paid any attention ever. I think I have been right on my assumption that I don't have to spend my time on Radiohead. Didn't find any reason to actively get close to other Radiohead album.
There are few songs here I like, that to me sound like Radiohead. To me they apexed at OK Computer and after that it's mostly been irrelevant to me. The experimental stuff on this album is not at all interesting to me.
Definitely not my jam. There's not enough structure in the music for my tastes
Tolerable but easily the most forgettable radiohead record.

Saved? ❌ Would listen again? 🤔 Would recommend to anyone? ❌ Would buy on Vinyl? ❌
Definitely not my favorite Radiohead album
Day 85 - 2001 - Radiohead, Amnesiac Okay, I'm going to tell you guys a secret. I don't know if it was snobbery, distaste, or what but I never listened to Radiohead on purpose. I mean, of course I know "Creep," because that song was E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E when it first came out in 1992 (!). But also, I was a musical PURIST, FFS. I went and saw Oasis with Eric one time and he got mad at me because I was kind of making fun of Wonderwall. Like I thought I was cool as fuck because I refused to play certain kinds of music because it was too "mainstream" or whatever. Meanwhile, I was still popping in my Whitesnake CD on rare occasions. Don't tell anyone that, either. So, here we go - I'm going to say it: holy shit, this album is really good, and I'm sort of sad that I didn't give Radiohead a chance back in the olden days. There is a LOT going on here: classical, jazz, electronica, strings, bass, everything. I legit sighed when it popped up for me this morning, and I got out the shitty earbuds and immediately popped them out and got the good headphones off the charger. *Of note: I generally start writing these at the beginning of the album so I can get it started, add some stuff halfway through, and then I pop back through songs to find my standout. The above was written before I hit my breaking point. The first half of this album is mostly non-lyrics driven, and by Knives Out, I figured out why I never got into Radiohead: Thom York's voice. There is something about the tone and pitch of his voice that does not work for me. At All. By Dollars and Cents, I was ready to bail, which is really a shame because there are some amazing songs at the beginning of the album, including Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors. You know how when you're somewhere and there's a small child that just hits that whiny pitch that drives a want to punch someone, anyone, hard in the face? Maybe not the child, but no one would REALLY fault you if you did punch the child (I am not advocating punching children, but you know...) Thom York is that child for me. Sorry Thom. It's not you, it's me. I wanted to love this SO BAD and had to skip through the rest of the songs as soon as he started singing. I tried to hold out for "Life in a Glasshouse" because jazz trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton did a WHOLE THING on that song but then Thom started and bye. Standout: Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors
Unfortunately, I kind of liked it. The first quarter had some interesting songs that feel like they would be appropriate in situations deliberately intended to make someone uncomfortable or discontentful. Or maybe Im just a fan of quirky and weird. alot of albums have a very simialr sound all throughout, and this one for the first half each one has a distinct enough sound, for better or worse. However, the leads voice kind of kills it for me quite a bit. he sounds pretty whiny, and the further I got into the album, the more over it I was getting. The lows are just a bit too low and numerous for me, and the highs are infrequent and mildly interesting at best.
Amnesiac reminded me that I didn't like the experimentation of Kid A. This was marginally better, but still dreamy, dark and distant. Weird touch to run the penultimate track, Like Spinning Plates, backward, but Thom Yorke's vocals are equally disconnected either way. I did like the jazz funeral sounds on Life in a Glasshouse.
Good first attempt but they get better
I'll give it a 2, but that's because I know people loved this record. I don't get it now. I didn't get it then. I got to see a few bands in clubs, in theaters and then arenas – and Radiohead is one of them. Amazing live band, but there's not a single track on this album that does a thing for me except want to skip over it.
The album was artistic and moody but also kinda blended together. It started over and I didn't realize it until track 2.
Radiohead is that kind of Band where I would listen to a complete best of album but not to the normal albums
Best Track - "I Might Be Wrong"
A few okish songs, nothing I’d listen to again.
Simply put - not for me. You can't find much wrong with the composition. There's just not much that sounds good to revisit. Although, I'm probably part of the problem in this regard.
I've never been a fan of slow rhythms in the majority of songs, moreso when it engulfs the song. I couldn't finish the album, but if there was a good song (to me) among the 3 i missed, it must've been the exception rather than part of the album's essence.
I can hear Radiohead for sure, the beginning of what will become okay computer. Pyramid song I remember from the quest in cyberpunk of the same name. I am at work so I am not fully listening. I think it is a good album regardless and has the electronic and sampled sound that is iconic of Radiohead, as well as the melancholy that makes their music perfect for film and cinema
Definitely an experimental album by radiohead, especially as it was recorded along side kid A, not the greatest of experiments however. Best-Knives out Worst-Packt Like Sardines In a Crushd Tin Box
2.5
I did not love this. I probably need another listen but I much prefer OK Computer for example.
Ok, this is the third Radiohead album that has come up in as many weeks! Still not a fan and this is the worst of the 3 so far!
Nope. Cannot get into Radiohead.
For a band that is already entrenched in my mind as the epitome of dull calling an album amnesiac is apt affair as the title suggests; completely forgettable. Radiohead is overrated and this album is not their best effort.
Not a radio head fan no matter how hard I try
Too depressing even for me and I'm not averse to a bit of misery when it comes to music.
I once tried to get in Radiohead in high school to seem aloof and cool or whatever but I can’t pretend that is my truth (with exception to Talk Show Host as the intro song to hot young Leo in Romeo + Juliet, that was very authentically important to my teen self). Knives out was quite lovely, but this dragged a bit for me on the whole and I accidentally put on something else part way through forgetting the assignment which is never a good sign. Don’t worry though everyone I quickly remembered and went back and finished this like a good album reviewer. I will try harder when the next Radiohead album inevitably pops up on this list
Only a couple of listenable songs.
it is said that, to this day, in an isolated valley in central england, if you listen very carefully, you can hear the only consonant thom yorke ever fully pronounced echoing gently from the hills. mushy, indistinct, sonically complex but compositionally uninnovative song construction produces an album that skitters off of my brain like a drop of water on a hot griddle. to be fair, if you don't have a strong aversion to the deliberately out of tune vocal style, it's probably a lot more palatable.
Enjoyed for the first half and then I'm sorry but..Thom Yorke get very grating. Radiohead just isn't for me!
Pas dingo
Not the biggest fan of this one, I am trying to pick a few from each to put into a playlist though!
1 song already in my favorites. Would avoid listening again.
Not their best work, some haunting melodies but no earworms
I think it's safe to say I'm not crazy about Radiohead. This album didn't assault my ears or anything but it's just kind of bland.
This is a droning borefest. When the trumpet hit during the last song, it actually startled me a bit. I had checked out that much. Kid A felt like they discovered Aphex Twin, and took parts of his music to create something interesting, if not revolutionary in the rock genre. Amnesiac feels like they listened to a Sigur Ros album, and missed the point completely. Really disappointed with this album.
Feels like a concept album, OK for background music.
Creo que hay buenos álbumes de Radiohead ahí pero ese no es uno. Se pasaron de experimentales. No me gustó. La única canción que se salva es “You and Whose Army?” Bueno, no gracias. Después de esto tuve que escuchar Taylor Swift todo el día. ;)
Feels like an album of outtakes from Kid A.
i like radiohead but this might not be one of my fav albums from them, just found it a bit lackluster
This band, man. We just operate on different wave lengths I think
Radiohead oh Radiohead... FAVO: I might be wrong, Hunting Bears, Life in a glasshouse
Puro sonido chidos pero bien. Rarotes que pedo aunque como dos rolas me gustaron
Track 1: Well this was a little jazzy. That said, I felt as though I was listening to a less keyboard-forward Muse album. Track 3: OK this is like that really modern jazz that I don't understand. Also why do I feel like I'm sitting a plane that's just taking off while being chased by police cars for the last minute? Track 4: This is the bridge between the Beatles and Hozier that I never knew existed. You're welcome. Track 5: I Might Be Wrong, but this is a bop. Tracks 6-8: Eh. Track 9: Oh this one is really cool too. Track 10: Back to Muse vocals. Track 11: Am I about to throw stones at this track? (pun intended). No because it's kinda jazzy too. Overall: I never realised just how samey a lot of male British groups sounded before listening to this.
The lead singer's voice is just so....yuck. Yes, I'm aware everyone else likes Radiohead. LOL
not my favourite radiohead album but cool to hear songs i haven’t heard before! favourites- packt like sardines, pyramid song, knives out
Never heard a good album by Radiohead before. Still haven't.
Not as bad as I expected.
No.
Not their best, droney and a slog
On its own, pleasant background music, but in context of the band it’s Radiohead’s least interesting album. It’s the Kid A songs that weren’t anxious enough
Realistically this is a 2.2 for me. It’s a little abstract and weird, and didn’t really have any songs I clung to. Basically why I got out of Radiohead fandom as quickly as I got out. A few moments I really enjoyed the musicality.
2.5
Radiohead are the most depressing thing ever after death
me gustó cómo usan los sonidos electrónicos durante el álbum!!! es un buen disco de radiohead Peero no creo volver a escuchar el 90% de las canciones, no son mi estilo
i have listened to their other important albums but never this one. it's definitely a radiohead album. maybe this is an unfair rating since i'm comparing to the other albums but i just don't enjoy it as much.
More Radiohead...
Not a fan of this album. Sounded like they were experimenting with how many weird sounds they could make their instruments make while imitating a lovesick cat singing.
Music for theatre kids.
Meh
EDM took a bunch of quaaludes.
Ngl the more Radiohead albums I hear the less impressed I am, not really seeing the hype here
I’m nowhere near depressed enough to “enjoy” this, but I was made to listen to anymore, I soon would be
one of my least fav radiohead albums
Not a massive fan, I like the Beatles but wouldn’t choose to listen to this album
Ja ne tot leider garnicht meine Musik 2?.??
the parts that are interesting are Fine but i’d rather be listening to Kid A
Still not a fan of Radiohead at all. That was tough to finish.
I really don't like Radiohead.
Not my thing. Very mumble core. I don’t love it.
Sigh
I want to like Radiohead but I just can't fully get into it. They have all of the ingredients of a band I'd love but it just hasn't clicked yet. Maybe this wasn't the right album for that, as it kind of came and went without me noticing much about it. I Might Be Wrong was the only song here where I stopped what I was doing and fully paid attention.
Par for the course Radiohead, bummer songs that I want to like but just can't. This album feels even less cohesive than the others we've listened to. By the time we get around to a Radiohead album I actually know, I'll prob like it just for that reason.
Didn't move me on any level
Ikke vildt trælst men heller ikke mindeværdigt.
glad this generator recommended me this to show that even Radiohead has bad albums
Hard to know what to say about this album. Some songs I thought where great, some made me want to tear my hair out. Much of the music is really good, and there is some nice variety to the structures on the tracks, but then we get some ideas that the band just seems to get stuck on and repeats to the point of frustration. I can understand appreciating this conceptually, and even how it might have seemed like a clever idea in theory, but it's mostly just annoying and unpleasant. 2 feels too low for an album that has some songs that I genuinely really loved, but taken as whole... I really like the cover, it's got good composition, good color, and it's appropriate for the content of the record, it's a 4/5 for me.
not my kind of music either, too slow and repetitive, might have been interesting when it came out but is boring to listen to now.
Not as good as the earlier albums, not really enjoyed
This album might be the second worst thing to happen in 2001. 2/5
Who hurt you?
é a banda mais superestimada do mundo, não tem jeito.....
Im confused why this is on the list?
I do not like Radiohead. Stop making me listen to Radiohead.
Radiohead is not for me.
Bland and forgettable compared to some of their brilliant earlier albums. Credit to them for trying different musical styles on the album but ultimately doesn’t produce a great or even memorable record
Not a radishes fan, he sounds whiny the whole way througj
Not a huge fan of Radiohead when this album came out, they are just a bit too electronic and mellow for my taste. Thom Yorke's voice also used to annoy me. I don't mind their first two albums but their later stuff has always just been bad too me. I think now that I'm two decades removed from Radiohead and not being forced to listen to them all the time, I can appreciate it a bit more. I still would never choose to put it on but I can see the artistry in the album. I think they deserve all the accolades but that doesn't mean I like them. After about halfway through this album it became almost unbearable for me.
Probably least favorite out of all radiohead releases
Still don't get it with radiohead
This is like the stoner parts of Pink Floyd minus the good music. 2 stars or D-.
Not one of Radiohead’s best moments. A couple of good tracks though.
Not into it
I don't really get why this would be critically acclaimed. I can only imagine what it was like to be a Radiohead fan from the beginning and to run out and get this. Shocked and disappointed would be just the beginning. This sucks.
This is definitely not Radiohead’s best work. I feel like I’ve heard of a solid amount of their albums and I haven’t heard of this one. Given its proximity to big albums like OK Computer and Kid A, you’d think I would have. Listening to this album, I can see why. It’s just not very memorable. It goes on and on and it kinda sucks.
This is not an album someone having dark thoughts should listen to. Soooo depressing. I like a few of RadioHeads songs and none are on this album. I do not get the hype.
Very down beat, it was ok.
Accidentally lost my place on the album and couldn't work out which song was playing. They are all the same
Look man I think that the "good" Radiohead albums are overrated, you bet I don't care about this crap. 4/10
Another day, another Radiohead record
I don’t think I had the correct drugs available at 7am. Sounds like an artifact from a time capsule, left by a cult.
Resto de música do kid a
Pretty alright
Poo
Not my favorite Radiohead record
Not radioheads greatest album glasshouses and I might be wrong probably my stand out songs.
Te vaag en experimenteel voor mij
This was much better than Kid A, and helped with work focus due to the low fi beats. As reminded me of Jack's school friend Harry's music
Chato pra caralho
This album perfectly encapsulated how I feel about post-Ok Computer Radiohead. Totally forgettable and at times, annoying.
5/10 - some good initial songs and then it starts to draw itself out and becomes whiny
No había escuchado este disco de Radiohead. Es de una época en que me despegué de su música. No sé si ni siquiera he oído alguno de sus temas en la radio. Pues muy aburrido, nada que destacar al menos hoy en día.
I didn't really give this album a fair go but it's just not my vibe, nothing stuck out.
Fine. I don’t really care for radiohead.
I'm usually one to rag on Radiohead, but this time.....yeah it's no different. I wish I had amnesia and could forget this album. Only thing it'd be good for is being put to sleep. Granted, it's not unlistenable, so I can't give it one star.
No extra points for pretentiousness, unfortunately, and I just can't with this man's voice. Lots and lots of this album sound like local studio jams that show flashes of brilliance, but nothing inherently cohesive or enjoyable.
Nö
Listen, I get it alright, Radiohead is a good band and they are influential. But this just ain't for me man.
Not a fan of this album at all
Kone musaa hidasta pointitonta.
A fair amount of diversity, but I've never been enthralled with this band and this album didn't change that.
Love several of their albums, but not this one...kind of an incoherent mess.
First Radiohead album experience and it was...fine? I had convinced myself, from bits and pieces of songs I had heard, that Radiohead is not a band I would like and this album didn't do anything to change that belief.
How about an album of B sides from an experimental ambient album? How about no.
For someone really only familiar with Radiohead via their radio played singles, this album came as a surprise. It's a lot more electronic than I would have expected, and ends on a nice jazzy note. That said, I found it a bit too slow paced.
zeurderige zang
I think I would like this without the vocals
Love Radiohead but this is not my favorite by them. A little too out there with the experimental sounds, especially the processed vocals on Thom.
I can appreciate the artistry gone into this album but i think the vision is lost on me. although, special mention to life in a glasshouse, enjoyed that one.
Did not listen to the entirety.
Very moody, ambient and a bit industrial sounding album, which leads you in some melancholic state. Not the "Emo-Type"-Way. More like a mature feeling emptiness. Will not be my favorite Radiohead -Album.
Heard it before. No matter how many tries I give Radiohead I just don't get their music other than the first 3 albums. Everything after OK Computer is just a bunch of incoherent sounds to me. Creep is genuinely better than this whole album (shoutout to Knives Out tho because it's the only song on this album that sounds like a song and it's one of my favourites from Radiohead) 2/5
I kind of found this one a little boring
6/10 Not bad, decent just pure cardboard and some experimental awful sounding shit..
Not as good as In Rainbows. Has some interesting moments, but more filler.
The pinnacle of pretension
Love Radiohead but this is too weird
Very Radiohead sounding album, they are clearly exploring the sounds and landscape they created. By not going beyond the bounds of their own country, I didn't find much to be memorable from the album.
Whole bunch of nothing. Liked the earlier Radiohead album I got more.
it was ok, i like their other albums more
Radiohead. Again. 5th album for me. Alas, just one more to endure on this list. A bit less whiny, there were some moments that caught my ear for a second, but that passed fast. Dull and boring most of the time.
Radiohead est-il le groupe le plus overrated de l'histoire de la musique ? Je pourrais pas donner de jugement définitif, mais objectivement oui.
I have never really understood the intensity with which Radiohead fans will scream at you about how good Radiohead is. It was fine. Some of the musical aspects were pretty cool, some jazz inspired instrumentals. I am not a fan of the kind of "droning" singing style of this album. It felt like all the lyrics were long, droning notes, and sad sounding. Overall, just pretty boring.
I like Radiohead, but they lost me on this one. Knives Out prevents one single star.
On another day I would probably rate this higher because it’s still radiohead, but today I had joy in my heart and this album robbed me of it.
Snoozer for me. 2/5
Radiohead is probably the best of the Britpop bands but still this album is not the best. It’s just ok I guess, I’d never listen to it again
This band is so weird, sometimes its not bad and sometimes its nothing
Well this is a heavy start to the week, Radiohead, oh boy. In all seriousness I do enjoy some Radiohead, Rainbows I think is a masterpiece, it remains to be seen if this album with follow suite. The album starts off with a sort of trance, digital track, robotic in a way, the droaning on repetitive lyrics aren't really what I look for in a Radiohead track so can't say it's a good start. Pyramid song is a little better, piano backed by the occasional string section and sound segment, honestly a beautiful sounding track, with lyrics that seem to describe someone passing on. By the third track I can tell this album isn't going to be Radiohead's most lyrically strong album, you and who's army is musically very well put together but lacking in the lyrics department. Dollars and Cents is actually quite lyrically sound, when you can hear what the fuck he's talking about, the backing reverberated yells, screams and heavy strings section tend to drown out the compelling lyrics talking about life in modern society. I'd like to say the album stays consistent from there but it doesn't, each track seems a little out of place and like it just didn't fit into a previous album so they stuck them all in one. Overall, not one of Radiohead's shining stars of musical brilliance and if I need to listen to a good Radiohead album, I'll stick with Rainbows and Kid A. 2.2/5 MTW Fucking hell it's a Monday morning, have a day off. I actually really like Radiohead, 'Let Down' on OK Computer is one of my favourite tracks of all time, they are objectively a very talented and socially relevant band. That being said, I am very apprehensive to call this an album to listen to before you die ? Amnesiac doesn’t come close to Kid A in terms of quality, passion, artistic courage or originality. Amnesiac is a combination of a few great songs that wouldn’t have fit with the textures and themes of Kid A, one or two mildly interesting pieces weakened by inappropriate embellishments, a couple of less-than-successful electronic experiments, one completely unnecessary do-over and another nominee for the worst thing Radiohead ever did. HOWEVER, from a purely musical standpoint Amnesiac strikes a cunning and rewarding balance between experimentation and quality control. It's hardly easy to digest but nor is it impossible to swallow. Its lapses into self-indulgence - the grinding noise of Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors, the overlong Like Spinning Plates - are occasional and slight and massively overshadowed by its surfeit of haunting musical shifts and unconventional melodies. Alas, it's not my favourite, and honestly Yorke's very whiney voice is simply exhausting when sober and not feeling particularly self-deprecating (yet). 2.9/5 - HF xo
pretty good, kinda quirky, not my fav though tbh
I have a bipolar relationship with Radiohead in the sense that I consider "OK Computer" one of the best albums of its time but I'm reluctant to call myself a Radiohead ""fan"" when I listen to work like these. For the whole 47:57, I kept on thinking, "Man, what if they included The Auteurs or Longpigs instead?" Even Kurt Cobain's home recordings were desirable in the moment.
I think I expected more from this album. It was boring and I was disappointed. Maybe I’ll like their other albums better.
I don't get Radiohead. His voice is not good. And I think this might be my least favorite album so far of theirs.
Con todo el respeto al grupo y a su valentía y experimentación, este disco es un borracho a punto de desmayarse cantando sobre una radio AM con una emisora de jazz.
My first exposure to Radiohead of any kind is through this list. This is the fifth Radiohead album I've got so far, and it's crazy how this list generated the albums in a perfect downward arc so far. Started with OK Computer - great album overall, I see the hype. Followed by In Rainbows which was not as great but still really good. Then Kid A which was just kind of okay. Then most recently was Hail to the Thief which was just passable and not really worth the listen aside from maybe one or two tracks. Now we've got Amnesiac and yep, we're encroaching on "not good" with this one. Each album had at least one or two songs I'll come back to, but I just finished this album and don't think I could pick out a single musical moment. It all just blended together into this moody, mellow, tepid mush. First Radiohead album I got that I don't think a single song is worth coming back to. And if we are continuing my coincidental Best to Worst list of Radiohead albums, I'm scared of what comes next.
I only kinda get it…maybe my expectations were too high since Radiohead has this “GENIUS” “Masterpiece” aura attached to them. This was…whatever. But I do know this isn’t one of the two albums I know are considered their best.
Better than Creep but I still don’t get Radiohead
Meh. Boring.
This didn’t hold my attention and I found it to be the most boring Radiohead material I’ve heard
Expected to like this more than I did
Did not like this at all. 2/5
Didnt feel it
This is music I would expect to hear in a mediocre late 90s or early 2000s movie
I don’t get it
Ehhhhh
having amnesia trying to recall any songs or melodies from this album
Not my favorite of theirs
I was unfamiliar with this album. Favorite song: life in a glasshouse I like Radiohead but was not a big fan of this album
I just don't get it
I really enjoy The Bends and OK Computer, and I'm slowly starting to get the appeal of Kid A, but this one leaves me cold. I guess they're trying to show that they can still be a rock band, but unfortunately all the best songs they had must have already been used for Kid A, because nothing here is particularly memorable. Apparently I've still got 5 Radiohead albums ahead of me? Not looking forward to all that tbh.
Hadn’t heard any of these songs before. None of them stuck out as being memorable or catchy or anything I’d like to listen to again.
This album i would say was not for me, did have a few tracks that had a good rhythm or beat but all in all unfortunately not a great listen.
I Might Be Wrong is the first song that I actually really liked on the album, and it was the 5th song. Knives Out was the first song that I already knew on the album. While I would say I really enjoy Radiohead, did not really like this album, will not go outta my way to listen to it again, besides the two songs above.
Get this depressing ass music off my list. Still listenable though
po é completamente assustador que eu tava tentando escutar esse no exato segundo que eu abri o site pra ver qual era o álbum do dia dito isso, eu n sou nem um pouco fã dessa fase experimental maluca do radiohead
**An ok album
Not a big fan of the electric sound and pretty darn melancholy.
Better than Coldplay
Not for me dog
Interesting experimenting here, but not the Radiohead I enjoyed earlier on
It just trudges along. You know trudging? To trudge.
Amnesiac is really a bit like the ugly stepsister of Kid A, isnt't it? Look, I really like Radiohead, but sometime people are too fast to applaud everything they do. Maybe because its Art... But this doesn't quite live up to Radiohead's reputation. Recorded at the same time as Kid A, this album contains many tracks that were left on the cutting room floor of the former one. We might even directly compare these two by virtue of looking at the respective versions of Morning Bell. The Kid A version was sublime, the one on this album deserves to be forgotten (cue obvious pun on this album's title). There might be one or two good tracks on here - I myself am partial to Pyramid Song and You and Whose Army? But that is not enough, and after Kid A, this is quite a letdown. 2/5
"Oh brother. If Amnesiac made the list, prepare for like 4 more of these." And that is coming from a Radiohead fan friend of mine. I had never listened to this one in my attempts to figure out what it is people lose their sense of self over Radiohead over maybe because it really isn't one constantly talked about. Even as someone who is not a fan of Radiohead overall I can see why. There's even less here than the other albums had. The search continues.
people keep telling me Radiohead is one of the best to ever do it and this was not the place to start
Most of this album was a struggle to get through. Very depressing, slow, repetitive and minimalist. There are a few enjoyable tracks though. Knives Out was my favourite on first listen, but maybe just because it reminds of the much better Paranoid Android.
Don’t tell my daughter, but I just can’t get into Radiohead. Although we don’t have any of these songs liked on Spotify, so maybe this album is mid. It’s not bad, fine as background music, but honestly I get a little tired of the vocals.
Pretty OK. But, I have forgotten what most of it sounded like already.
Very samey, track 1 to the last track could have be the same song not my favourite radiohead album
Yes. This is Radiohead.
This is one of those groups I've always wanted to like more than I actually do. I love that they experiment with incorporating so many different elements into their music, , but the results often seem more incoherent than innovative to me.
I think if this was by any other band I’d slap a one star on this and move on but because it’s radiohead i’m gaslit into thinking I just don’t get it and it’s actually good somehow, so I’ll just give it a benefit of the doubt 2. i don’t enjoy kid a so i was not surprised to not be enthused with this.
I liked some of the more high energy instrumentals. But overall this isn't for me.
I’m not a fan of Radiohead but this was fine. I liked the closer and a couple songs but I mostly didn’t feel very strongly positively or negatively, just kinda meh.
weirdo
Has some moments, but only moments.
It started really strong, but became sort of generic over the course of the album. The high pitched vocals weren't my favorite
Radiohead in their depressing phase! Need to be in the right mood.
Not much on this one
I’m interested in why it is I don’t like Radiohead as much as I think I should. I suppose you either celebrate Radiohead’s jukebox albums of jealously guarded influences or you don’t. You either do or don’t think they went from being a shit Nirvana rip-off to a shit amalgam of Aphex Twin, Portishead and whoever else Chris Cunningham was making music videos for at the time. You either do hear Coldplay with more self-consciously avant garde production choices or you don’t. Hyperbole aside, though, the cavernous spaces opened up on this album offer me good perspective from which to clarify my thoughts. I think my problem is rooted in a general premise – that while some albums give, others subtract. And while I’ve plenty of time for music that takes more from you than it gives – albums that involve you, moving you beyond where you were before in a totally altering, necessarily engrossing way – there’s something about Radiohead I’ve always found unjustifiably draining. In short, the juice hasn’t ever felt worth the squeeze. And so we are again. Blippy glitch that’s then so fashionable in Berlin rubs shoulders with warm and cosy Sunday roast Indie; boiled up pastiches of various global music curios condense on the cold, cold windowpane of Thom Yorke’s flawless but really a bit too often deployed falsetto. The moments come and go – the drums in “Dollars and Cents”, so reminiscent of Mogwai – but it never, for me, amounts to more than a treadmill of effects; precisely good enough to have me tying myself in knots trying to like it. And that’s my overwhelming feeling, really. Radiohead, arch postmodernists, take more than they give. You’re either into that, or you’re not.
A bit boring and depressive but with a few nice moments
Never been much of a fan and this album isn’t helping
No nie podoba mi się, może tylko jedna piosenka
Radiohead is kindsa mid
I’m admittedly stuck in the pre-2000 musical era. I don’t like the “evolution” of Alt Rock. Radiohead are some of the early pioneers of this evolution and they seem heavily over-represented on this list. I accepted Kid A and it was decent, however, everything from this album forward is simply not what I like. I’m giving this a 2⭐️. Kid A a 3⭐️ and all previous Radiohead albums are 4⭐️. While I admire their accolades, influence, creativity and ability to evolve and take music in a new direction - I simply don’t like the destination.
don’t know what the hell theyre saying but this shit is ass
not my cup of tea tbh 5/10
Ok, ok. I get it. Everything Radiohead ever did is great. Thom Yorke's shit smells like rainbows. Johnny Greenwood plays guitar better than Jesus. Whatever. If it weren't for "I Might Be Wrong" and "Knives Out" I would have hated this. How is any of this incomprehensible mess worthy of a greatest list? I had to listen to The Bends just to rinse the taste out of my ears. The other Radiohead albums the list has sent me so far (Hail to the Thief, Kid A, and In Rainbows) I thought were good, solid albums, even if I did question their necessity. But I'm afraid Amnesiac is a bridge too far. 2
I put off listening to this one for over a week, and I'm rating it because I'm sick of this generator site telling me I haven't rated it yet. Let's move on. Radiohead is such a specific vibe and sound, that I feel like I've really got to be in the mood to digest it. I'm also aware I'm not the biggest Radiohead fan, but the thing that excites me about this project is making myself listen to full albums of artists I respect, but never really got in to. I dig their sound. It's different, uniquely them. It's the hypnotic, whining vocals that I get hung up on. That along with the sleepy, ominous music that feels too cinematic to put on for some casual listening. Tracks like "Pulk/Pull" are hardly a song. I'm just trying to have a nice time here with my listening. Maybe I'm not experimental enough for this band.
This album was monotonous. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn’t listened to it on my commute to work but instead at home on a rainy day with a pair of really good headphones.
I liked Radiohead up through this albums predecessor Kid A. I found that album to be useful to put on and fall asleep to as it was mostly noise and softer tones. This continues the tradition. This album had 2 singles released which I for the life of me can't figure out why. All the songs sound like noise jazz rock. Maybe I'll put this on to help me sleep but that's about it.
I don’t really care about Radiohead. This album didn’t change anything
Mostly didn't like the vocals.
Amnesiac by Radio Head Thoughts: Difficult listen if I’m being honest. Listened to this while cleaning my room. Definitely not room cleaning music. Only added 1 song to one of my playlists. Honestly disappointed because Radiohead has great songs but fuck I truly considered turning this off to be honest. A lot of random noises it was almost like they were just fuckin around in the studio litterly putting inanimate objects up to the mic and recording what it sounds like. Favorite song on the album was you and who’s army least favorite was pulk/pull revolving doors. That’s what I’m talking about with the inanimate objects if you heard it you’d get what I’m sayin. I’ll rate it a 3.5/10 didnt fw it hopefully I get a better Radiohead album cuz I do fw them.
Not my favourite one of theirs by any stretch 5/10
Not really my thing, a little bit too Radiohead for me, wouldn’t revisit.
Troppo sperimentale, noioso e monotono
Long spells of this had me pondering whether the computer noises fit the definition of music. Some tracks had me wondering if the singer had any intention of singing in tune. Knives Outis the one track that I mildly enjoy. Is one song enough to go from one star to two? Kills me that there are four Radiohead albums in the list. And none of them are Pablo Honey! 1.5
Yo this album sucked dick
Not a good album in my opinion. There's too much electronic chaos happening and not enough music. Maybe two tracks worth listening to with "You and Whose Army" and "Life in a Glasshouse." Other than that, not really worth the time of listening.
Every time I listen to an album from Radiohead like Amnesiac I get angry at what they were and what they turned into. This self-indulgent experimental rock/electronic with falsetto meanderings that doesn't have any melody. Yorke just twittering across a "soundscape". This band made OK Computer then thought that gave them the licence to loop white noise for 4 albums. Get a grip lads. You used to be able to knock out world class songs.
This is the first Radiohead album I've listened to in its entirety. The music is fine, but I do not like the vocals. Very whiny and annoying at times. I wouldn't rush to relisten to this again.
This just didn't do anything for me. I didn't hate it but definitely did not find it particularly engaging.
Oh, Radiohead, whatever will I do with you I can't deny their importance in just really getting me into indie rock and getting familiar with electronic music and other weirder sounds whenever they toyed with them during their post-Kid A stuff which probably did have an effect on how today I like all that stuff and listen to weirdo music all the time, on the other hand I just... don't listen to Radiohead anymore, partly because of being a contrarian at age 19 but also partly because I started to grow out of some of the bands that hit me the hardest in High School, that's not to say I dislike them of course but once you get into more music some stuff doesn't have the same novelty it once did, which is only natural. Radiohead's music was important in all these ways but when I listen to it I can't help but feel sometimes like... I can't help myself from comparing it to other music I've heard since and I think that is kind of unique to them in my experience (closest is Nine Inch Nails but they have a slightly different situation), I don't feel the need to compare X artist to Y artist generally because it feels silly but Radiohead feels like one of those where their position as the best known indie/alt rock band always feels like something to challenge in my head because I know their influences and enjoy them better or know artists who are similar and enjoy them way better. It's the same story back when I listened to In Rainbows a week ago and now Amnesiac where I don't really feel much for the songs because that feeling of "well why Radiohead when x exists" persists, even taking for what they are isn't doing much when I just won't return to them. I'm sitting here listening to Amnesiac and slowly realizing why people don't find this one that exciting, it feels like its little experiments with distorting synths, reworking songs with a new sound, and generally more subtle and quiet songs sound like they are barely doing anything beyond one gimmick and then the song ends, I felt wanting more or that the songs could become more interesting than simply "let's write a piano song with a pretty choral climax" or "let's make a jazzy song", it's particularly frustrating to listen to "Pull/Pulk Revolving Doors" and think to myself how I used to find this song so hard and weird with how distorted and rhythmic the synth thing they got going on plus the pitchshifted vocals but listening to it now I felt... so underwhelmed because it wastes an otherwise very cool sounding idea on something very repetitive and aimless, and I'm not gonna sit here and say they had to mix this sound into one of their usual rock things or go crazy and write Autechre songs but the feeling that they could do way more and make it sound good but didn't is disappointing. Same goes for "You and Whose Army?", the idea of a quiet song exploding at the end with some big climax is nothing new but it works because many songs know how to pull it off, this song could theoretically work with how it starts with a small piano thing playing along Thom's vocals and then exploding once the rest of the instruments come in, but the song does so little in half of it's runtime, the simplicity just doesn't click when I'm not interested in how Thom sings in this song and the piano that goes along with it which just makes the ending feel kind of cheap and saves an otherwise uninteresting song. I could go on because every other song feels like it has this same problem, decent ideas that feel unfinished or lacking something, I imagine the Radiohead guys feel differently since these songs WERE outtakes of Kid A before they got reworked into Amnesiac, I'm not gonna say that it shows that they're outtakes but I guess I wonder why not refine them more or go further with their experiments? Conversely, I think the songs that work the best are the three that just do their usual alt rock thing with added instrumentals for texture and general interest, I mean "Packt like Sardines" is a prime example of how the added electronic things made the song more interesting and enjoyable, "Knives Out" is maybe the best song on here, the most organic song that actually makes the most out of a moody atmosphere and doesn't meander with it, and "Dollars and Cents" which maybe has the most interesting use of Thom's wailing high notes in the choruses. I don't want to seem like Amnesiac has NOTHING going for it but for an album that people describe as their more "abstract" it honestly just feels more confused on what it wants to be and where it wants to go with what it's doing, it's not all in on experimenting or being weird like Kid A and it's not just doing what they do best like Hail to the Thief or In Rainbows, all these have their own problems I have with them but at least they got more going for them than Amnesiac in my mind. This was just there, I wish it was more.
Boring
I like OK Computer a lot but this is completely different. I am not even sure how to classify it, it sounds ambient or spacy, almost like a movie score. Lots of dissonance. I really don't care for it much, and I doubt I would listen to it again.
A few good passages. Not their best, but not at all bad.
not my cup of tea
Kinda gay
A bit too much for me, need a little more structure Favourite: you and whose army?
I think these guys reached peak at Creep. After that just whinging.
Pretentious and boring
God, it's interesting...but is it good? So far, for me, it's a no. This has to be one of those albums that really grabs a person the more they listen to it.....right?! The millions and millions of Radiohead fans out there (that never shut up about how amazing Radiohead is) can't all be wrong. I've always loved their 1st three albums but after that they took a muh more ambient, electronic turn in their sound that I've never really got. This is one that I'll keep trying but I don't think it'll take
I do not get Radiohead.
The sound of a band with too much money and/or time amusing themselves instead of doing something worthwhile.
I did not have high hopes going into it, but I tried to have an open mind about each song. This era of Radiohead just doesn't do it for me. I like some stuff on "The Bends" and I like some stuff on "In Rainbows," but everything they did in between those albums is mediocre to me...but that seems to be the Radiohead era that their fans like the most. Whatever. Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't say I hated this album, but I was still glad when it was over so I could move on to something else. 2.4
This band is still not as good as people make them out to be.
Too much RH in one week.
Another "who gives a shit" album by Radiohead. I can't believe they get this much attention on this list.
There’s no law that says I have to like Radiohead.
2.5
Slightly less experimental than Kid A but maybe an increase in the dullness stakes. Couldn’t get on board with this one.
Not very good
heard
Yeah, I think maybe I need to take some drugs and listen again, but Radiohead has just....never done it for me. They sound amazing, but the songs just don't fit together. Maybe I should track down a concert, but has just as much chance to be terrible, they're so produced. What I will say is Hunting Bears has the slickest sound, easily the best song on the album at first glance. Will come back when in different mindset sometime to see if it helps.
Was an okay listen. No song stood out to me and no songs were saved to the playlist.
Meh Weird
Ei hirveen mieleenpainuvia kappaleita
whining set to noise
This sucks lol not my thing. It’s still listenable though
Radiohead is just one of those bands that I don’t understand or get. I’m not a big fan of the vocal style. Overall the music is ok. I do get why people like them, it’s just not for me.
A couple of good songs, but mostly garbage.
Thom is a whiner
This is my first Radiohead album so far. Are they, in fact, the most overrated band?
Why are there so many Radiohead albums on this list? This is my fourth so far. You can't tell me that there aren't other acts that are worthy of being here. As for this album, I only got halfway through before giving up. Pretentious garbage.
Sad experimental "rock".....this is the Radiohead I do not care for.
Beetje zeurderige muziek
I used to like this album, but I could not finish listening to it today.
Except for "I Might Be Wrong" and "Hunting Bears" this is some very annoying music. I especially hate the Thom Yorke vocals. I probably don't get it. In general I don't get Radiohead though.
We know now that there are at least two Radiohead albums on this list: OK Computer and this one. Despite having been told many times I'd be into Radiohead, I've never been a fan. This album didn't really make it for me.
funnyyy titel jaa das isch definitiv es lied gsi ahhh ich weiss nöd, es git mier eifach soo wenig pulk/pull isch kinda fun (bzw. v.a. de beat) und s qutotune isch mega arsch aber ich chans respektiere hahahah lyrics sind iwie na cool? knives out isch na herzig gsi aber iwie hets für mich eifach kei dynamik? weiss nöd hans gfühl jedes lied isch sochli e idee aber s blibt denn bi dere idee, es git kei höchene oder tüfe sondern spielt eifach die art/das gfühl vo musig wiiter bis es iwenn fertig isch. macht das sinn? mein demit nöd jedes lied muss 7 versch. teil haa aber iwie weiss nöd ich finds eifach ermüedend 4 min lang s gfühlt s gliche ghöre bis s nächste lied ahfangt morning bell und dollars and cents sind jz genau lieder gsi woni chli meh han chönne ahfange? vlt bini vorher zu harsh gsi I'm living in cloud cuckoo land life in a glasshouse isch iwie na cool, glichzitig tönts für mini ohre eifach schräg und nöd würkli schön he weiss echt nöd wohii demit, ich glaub ich verstahs jz schochli besser, aber iwie würkts uf mich auchli pretentious und macht würkli eifach wenig mit mier. wenigstens sinds echli andersch?
Ok I've had three Radiohead albums at this point, including the one most consider their best - "OK Computer." If I didn't like that one much (which I didn't), I didn't think I'd like much else of theirs. And I was right. Thom Yorke's voice is grating and unintelligible. I cannot understand 99% of what this man sings. The music itself is obtuse, which I can handle, but this one was so obtuse that I just can't even begin to get where they were going with this one. I assume a lot of the themes that emerge here are presented lyrically, but, again, I can't understand them and am not motivated enough (nor do I have enough free time) to sit down and read the lyrics along with the album. Somebody please enlighten me as to the amazingness, the power, the appeal of Radiohead. Because outside of a few songs, I haven't found it over three albums. I want to. I'm not a hater. I’m a listener desperate to understand them because I can see that they're genuine artists. Two stars. Standout Tracks: I Might be Wrong, Dollars and Cents, Hunting Bears, Life in a Glasshouse
I only know 2 Radiohead songs, so this album was completely new to me. I was expecting it to sound more rock/guitar What the hell was this?! Nearly 45 minutes of whining and weird noises. Not what I was expecting at all This is what people are always raving about... really? I try to be open minded but this guys voice ruined the few nice songs there were 2 ⭐️
Can't find the write up in either book :(
Pre-listening thoughts: oh boy more Radiohead! We’ve already gotten their two best albums so whatever comes after is just automatically going to be worse sorry Post/during listening thoughts: hmmm. This is what I expected from Radiohead when I listened to The Bends. It’s okay. There are some songs that kind of grate on me and some that are genuinely beautiful (pyramid song!!). This is far from their best work though. I think it lacks the cohesiveness in sound that In Rainbows has and it lacks the song composition skills that The Bends has. And you’re kind of left with songs that drone and noises that pierce your ears in unpleasant ways as a type of experimentation. It doesn’t really work for me. 4/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no Fav tracks: Pyramid Song, Knives Out Least fav tracks: Packt Like Sardines…, Pulk/Pull…, Morning Bell/Amnesiac, Like Spinning Plates
Not their best effort
Listening to the opening track I thought maybe this wouldn't be too bad. That bubble burst with the second track. I really don't see why people like Radiohead so much. Well, I did like Like Spinning Plates a little bit, to be fair, and would have liked Life In a Glasshouse if someone else was singing.
This record bored me to tears. It's frustrating to me because I adored "OK Computer", so I know Radiohead has the capacity to make an engaging album to me, but this was certainly not it. More droning, ominous tones with poetry behind them then actual songs. There were a couple tracks with actual rhythms and instrumentation that made them catchy, but beyond that it was a chore. Still waiting for something beside the one album for me to latch onto for this band. Notable Tracks: - I Might Be Wrong - Knives Out 3/10
What?
I've only sporadically liked Radiohead songs. I appreciate their abnormal sound and this album got me in an interesting headspace, but nothing lingers in my head after it's done. For better or worse, everything blurs together for me.
Radiohead at peak miserable. Unlike The Bends or OK Computer the quality of song writing doesn't compensate for the depressing lyrics. This just sounds like a miserable man singing to minimalist accompaniments. So it's a no from me 2/5
Radiohead is one of those bands that I feel bad for not understanding better what they’re doing. I like some of their other albums, but this one was over my head.
More sleepy pop from Radiohead. Innocuous, but dull; and I think their title proves they knew it.
I did not like this.
Not for me. I preferred their older albums.
Not a terrible listen but man the songs just DRAAAAAAAAAAG on and on. 2/5
Thought provoking. Not what I needed today
I thought I was a Radiohead fan. But idk if I can consider myself a big fan anymore. There were a few songs I did kind of like. Knives out is definitely the best one, but even then it wasn’t great. There were a lot of “songs” that can be described as noise lol. The songs I enjoyed don’t outweigh the songs I couldn’t get through…. Bummed I’m giving this a 2, but it’s only fair.
I don't get the whole radiohead thing. They are ok. This was just ok for me. Didn't even finish it.
got boring very fast
“DiD yOu KnOw AmNeSiAc WaS mAdE aT tHe SaMe TiMe As KiD a?” Yeah and idc.
Yuge dump
Less sad and more whiny.
Meh
Hgggn. Pyramid song on tosi hieno, mutta muu levy kuulostaa lämmittelyltä.
Pretty boring especially considering its only a few years after the bends and OK computer, this is the region of radiohead i don't really enjoy.
Maybe I'm just not sophisticated enough for this. But this just wasn't a fun listen. Definitely the worst Radiohead album I've had so far. I'd love for it to be the last.
felt way too mellow even for radiohead, they have better albums
Kinda boring and mopey.
Kinda whiny and drifty. Not a favorite.
Very boring and non interesting pretentious artsy pop-rock.
Thank god that’s over - relentlessly depressing but not really offensive! Just not my thing at all! Noel Gallagher said it right….’I reckon if Thom Yorke f***ing s**t into a light bulb and started blowing it like an empty beer bottle it'd probably get 9 out of 10 in f***ing Mojo. 2.4
It is, at least, an interesting album to compared to the many boring entries I've heard on this list. It has personality and creativity to it, so I can see how this may have influenced/paved the way for other artists down the line, but this album is not for me.
Radiohead have such a legendary status that I feel like I have to like them. People who are really into music will look at me funny if I say I don't like Radiohead. This is our second or third album by them, and I have to say that I'm still really not getting it. It's all very slow and boring, and when it does pick up I still don't love the sound. There's a lot of noise, which perhaps is 'experimental'. The best song was "I Might Be Wrong", which I liked a lot. That one lifted me out of the malaise of the first few songs. "Knives Out" kept the injury up a little but then it went right back down. "Life In a Glasshouse" had some fun elements. I'm going to be even more heavy handed than last time here, and say that I actively didn't enjoy it. But only a little. 4/10
Would love to be a hater as I am with the other Radiohead I’ve listened to, but actually had a pretty good time here
Very bleak
Of the 4 radiohead albums I've had to listen to for this, I can at least get some of the appeal of this one. I still didn't like listening to it though.
