Mudhoney
1/5
1988. Softer grunge rock that lead the way into the 90's scene. Not bad but did not get there for me.
Iggy Pop
3/5
1977. Some enduring hit songs and overall solid story telling. I think this is Iggy's best album
XTC
5/5
1985. I'm going to go ahead and hit it with the 5. This is one of the all time greats and the album I may have listened to more than any other. XTC at their prime
The Good, The Bad & The Queen
3/5
2007. Sounds a lot like the Gorillaz but generally pretty cool sounding with good production.
The Notorious B.I.G.
5/5
1994. A Hip Hop Legend with an album that will always remain. The immediate style and grace, depth and humor. How far could he have flown if given more time rapping? Its full of hits and its one of the best rap albums of all time.
Suzanne Vega
3/5
1985. This was pretty enjoyable smooth sounding album with good baselines. Vega has a nice voice.
Dinosaur Jr.
2/5
1987. Kind of a knock off Black crows sounding band without much zest
Ali Farka Touré
3/5
1994. Hard to rank these albums of African origin. This is West African blues guitarist that made a comeback to music after farming for years and won international album of the year.
Ramblin' Jack Elliott
3/5
1958. A piece of Americana I suppose. I do enjoy some classic country music. Smooth sounds and stories.
Talvin Singh
2/5
1998. Indian 90's tech club music. Kinda fun but also whacky as heck.
Primal Scream
2/5
1997. Again, Primal Scream is not what is seems. Instrumental and experimental in its late 90's electronic rock vibe.
Motörhead
3/5
1980. Prime speed and thrash metal. More gritty than punk metal. Pretty solid throughout without going overboard.
The Chemical Brothers
3/5
1997. Pretty enjoyable late 90s clubbin music.
The Sonics
3/5
1965. Shouting and hollering kind of early rock. So many of these tracks are totally iconic!
Manic Street Preachers
2/5
1994. Heavy with political statements but overall maintained its listenability despite going a bit hard.
Al Green
4/5
1972. Al Green being so smooth and groovy. The title track hitting #1 on the pop charts at the time. I think this is boosted because I just enjoy the tunes and soul. Its historic value didn't break the rolling stones 500.
Slade
3/5
1972. Pretty enjoyable British 70's rock that I have never heard. They sounded tough at first and then mellowed out. Covered Janis Joplin.
Tito Puente
4/5
1958. Gosh I'm a sucker for mambo music. So easy to fall into and groove with. Big bands also have such a sweet spot in my heart. Tito was a driving force for the genre.
Robert Wyatt
2/5
1997. Interesting sound from English art rock. and Strange Jazz elements thrown in. Some songs were good but others lost me.
Incubus
4/5
1999. Awesome album, its not ranked by rolling stones but it close to my heart and is a notable departure for Incubus to dig into a softer alt rock sound to finish out the 90's.
Ananda Shankar
3/5
1969. I kinda enjoyed this psychedelic Indian cover album. Whacky and fun
Youssou N'Dour
2/5
1988. Interesting sounding Senegalese album that carried good beats
Elvis Presley
3/5
1960 Elvis is back from the war! He mashed to get her Blues and pop and rock in this 31min album. It was rocking throughout.
A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
1991. Cohesive and consistent. This is Tribe's best album and stands up as a display of lyrical jazzy bassy talent. Easy to enjoy.
Led Zeppelin
5/5
1971. Zeplin will always be a power house of rock! This is their most withstanding and strong album. Powerful and emotional.
Linkin Park
4/5
2000. This album is infamous and hits the core of the 2000 era. A new blend of rap and new metal. Vocally distinct and so much depth. But In the End, it doesn't even matter because major critics don't seem to acknowledge it.
Gang Of Four
3/5
1979. Nice kinda post punk baselines and dischordant rifs. Weak 3 or a strong 2.
The Jesus And Mary Chain
2/5
1987. Decent enough English rock band.
Hanoi Rocks
2/5
1983. Fairly good enough but didn't push into the exciting.
The National
2/5
2010. Pretty ok songs that didn't take me anywhere. Soft alt rock.
Lenny Kravitz
3/5
1989. Nice funk elements of this soul rock blues. Good themes throughout that made it meaningful
Fred Neil
3/5
1966. I enjoyed the folksy bluesy tones with a dash of psychedelic jamming in there
