Reviews (page 12 of 14)

i didn’t understand it but it was groovy

Great Working Tunes. Obv dont know the lyrics lol

I quite liked it as a vibe but I can't see myself putting it on just to listen to. Standout Track: Chan Chan

Not bad, felt like I was on a beach somewhere in or walking the streets of Cuba.

This is beautiful music but wouldn’t be on my rotation

When I’m an old Cuban, these are the dudes I want to hang with.

Sunny.

Intressant genre, men kanske inte min favorit

Would never think to listen to this, but it was actually pretty nice. I'm also fluent in Spanish now. Crazy!

Good vibes, I only wish I was in Cuba hearing this.

I love the rhythm of the songs. Makes you want to get up and dance.

Easy to listen to but probably just not my genre

This album is intriguing. Some songs are traditional Mexican canciones; some are very centered in Jazz. Most tracks are love songs, some have really vague lyrics, so I can't really tell you what it's about. Yes, I speak Spanish. Doesn't help. I like this album, but I don't see my self returning to it very often.

Good vibes, great ambience music to listen to while studying.

A genre I don't really like, but done well.

I saw the documentary years ago and really enjoyed it. It was nice to hear again. I could see myself listening to this outside on a nice night. Enjoyable cuban music

Great mood/background music

This one was all over B&N when I worked there around 1999.

nice latin rhythms. cool sounding upbeat music good listening. has some really good songs, and some song that are just nice, nothing bad really.

Good musicians

Their musicianship is undeniable. I don’t speak Spanish so I don’t know what they’re singing about but the music was pretty good.

Very much a pub vibe, Mexican or Spanish. I can't understand anything, so I can't delve into it, but the sound is certainly as iconic of the spanish speaking countries as the food. Good jams on this one.

Smooth feels like I’m in chef the movie

Album 153 of 1001 Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club Rating : 3 / 5 Favorite Track : El Cuarto de Tula Cuban jazz. Another where I can't understand the language but the music more than makes up for it. A real calming listen. Kept going about my business as I was listening and found it quite enjoyable.

Loses a bit of steam as the album goes along, but a chill listen. Will put this on if I'm chilling outside with a drink. 3.5/5

I didn't listen to this as closely as I should've - listened to it while working. I agree this is good music, but nothing jumped out to me that made it stand out from other music in this genre.

Like a nice seaside club

Starts off like lift music, pretty sure I've heard at Nandos before. One where I can hear the effort and talent, but not really my vibe. Objectively, would like rate higher than I will based on my subjective enjoyment

A cool hour of Cuban music. Enjoyable, but doubt I'll revisit. I do wonder whether this is exceptional compared to other Cuban records of the time or whether its international smash hit status is mostly a result of marketing? Unfortunately there is no way of knowing. Rating: 3/5 Playlist track: Chan Chan Date listened: 15/08/23

¡Qué bien!

Beautiful singing, and the piano work at the end was lovely. I don’t mind some easy listening Spanish music!

Pleasant enough

The staple soundtrack of every middle class dinner party in 1997.

This is just not music that I can get into and enjoy. I had heard this album a few times since it came out and it's more of a vibe album than an album I would listen to enjoy on an artistic level (though it is very well done artistically). I think the album belongs on the list but I probably would not listen to this again.

por favor

Hmmmm it good

Lovely background music

Good background music, would’ve gone perfect at the beach

every single song on this felt like it went on for one (1) million years. Not my vibe but I can respect it

Listen to feel like you're in a Breaking Bad cold open. Great background music.

It was good. A solid three. Maybe I'd give it a four with a re-listen. Don't really have much to write about it. My favourite song was Chan Chan, I think.

Pretty good, but all the music starts to sound very similar. The first song was flawless.

"nuestra música" pasteurizada para una generación de blancos panzones

Starts out so insanely strong, gets less interesting, but then comes back to being interesting again. It’s just such a great, great recording and representation of these musicians, which is what I think makes it endear. 3/5

Haven't listened to this album since it came out, but it's much like I remember it. Nice to put on in the background and pleasant to listen to, but not really something I'm going to choose often.

Decent album, but too long. I don't really understand the background of this album though. Just high-quality cuban music in a tradition style, recorded in 1997? Liked it ok though. 3/5

So yeah, not my thing at all, but I can admit that some of this is very pretty. C

4/14, 29%

Nice background.

Goes on a bit long but fairly palatable. Summer beach vibes.

Spanish

Some nice Latin jazz and a good change of pace from the other albums on this list. I don’t love this record, but it can be solid background music.

Eh 3/5

Not for me, but a fun listen

I enjoyed this far more than I expected to. It was great easy listening music and transported me to sunnier climes.

This album definitely deserves its place on this list. A realm of music, almost lost but resurrected. The film of the same name showing the old musicians is a cool watch as well. It definitely has its own place, it’s not everyday music but holiday music or Sunday afternoon in a hotel ballroom kind of music. It flows over me like a brisa. Not a type of music I would choose to play but right time, right place it casts a spell and you can get pulled into the warm current and caressed by the breeze. It’s more like a 3.5 but if the sun was shining it would maybe be a 4.

Fun album but fairly one dimensional

Wish I was listening to this at a beachside cantina or a sun drenched patio than a sterile office environment but it is what it is. Some of the songs needed a trim and too many sounded the same but the musicianship was excellent, especially Ry Cooder's guitar work and the many percussionists that delivered labyrinth-like rhythms.

Latin jazz, I guess. Nice relaxed background music

I can sense the relaxed enjoyment from the players, some wonderful jazz/classical piano, but overall just a sense of over-rated, over-hyped celebratory. Competent, but not the best Latin album on this list by a long shot.

I definitely enjoyed it but it wasn't really memorable? Probably is a grower... Will listen more

Super goed album. Boven verwachting! ***

Yeah nice man if your having a coffee. First song string andbthe reat ok. This stuff is better live

Happy background sounds

I was expecting this to be more up my alley than it was. I mean, it was alright, but some of it blended into music you'd here at a Mexican or Cuban restaurant and not much more. The only thing sticking it up there for me is the more folksy sort of sound present in the latter half of the album.

Vakantie

I remember this as a documentary. I still have no real idea what it's about - outside of that it's about music. The production on this sounds great. These melodies are infectious, there's no denying that. I don't have a real emotional reaction to any of it - at least nothing that really wallops me - but this is a fun listen, for sure.

I own this album. Pleasant enough, but 'Chan Chan' aside, the music never progresses beyond the realm of being comfortable. Why should we expect otherwise? It's a group of Cuban seniors playing old music with Ry Cooder noodling over the top. It's hardly Metal Machine Music.

Definitely has a lot of elements of Spanish music that I enjoy. I think a lot of the songs tend to sound the same but that’s partially because I don’t fluently speak Spanish. Overall, I enjoyed making my coffee and listening to this album throughout my morning.

Undeniably good, fun when I saw them live, but this doesn't move me very much. Maybe I'm dead inside. Best song De Camino...

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Not something I'd typically listen to but listened twice. But, I probably wouldn't seek it out again. It was just fun at the time.

Sometimes I wish I was a sexy Cuban dancer!

nice chill spanish music but not something I'd usually listen to

I didn’t hate it

Interesting and refreshing to hear.

Didn't understand a word but this album has an energy, a liveliness, a soul that I enjoyed.

Not bad. Not my jam.

lovely, good good vibes 3.5

Makes me wanna go to the beach

Reminds me of eating at Chi-Chi’s back in the day

This constantly comes up on my top albums list and I don't know why. It's fine. Maybe I need to know Spanish language music better to understand its greatness.

Needs to be listened to somewhere with sun, sand, and surf - preferably with a rum drink in hand. Started strong with some high energy, trailed off toward the end with more instrumental and crooning vocals.

i dug it well enough but it didn’t really move me

2.5 bit repetitive

No habla espanol, but this music made me want to sit outside with a rum and coke

I think I liked this a little extra since I'm watching better call Saul right now... 3.5

Ok background music, bit slow though

Ritmos cubanos y bien acompasados.

- I don't really like the style - Title track bangs though

This was a hit with both me and my wife.

Not what I’d normally listen to but very good

Easy breezy summer soundtrack. Don’t typically listen to this kinda stuff but I enjoyed it.

Good. Won’t ever actually listen.

Impressive collection of songs and interesting to hear how this came together. Not something I’d pick up and listen to regularly, but clearly an amazing group of musicians coming together to capture the beauty of traditional Cuban music.

Quite a good album, I must say. It is not particularly a sort of music that I usually listen, but I believe it's good to check other genres as well. Generally, I like the vibe from it. It resembles the Gypsy Kings sort of thing. However, as I am continuing to listen to the playlist, songs sound the same. It has the same rhythm, same musical instruments. Of course, I don't understand words, therefore I can't get the whole meaning of it, nevertheless I should be able to distinguish one song from the other, and, unfortunately, all these sound pretty much the same.

3/5. First half of the album is great but the second half drags on a little too long. Plus I guess I’m not much of a Cuban music listener.

Didn't understand a word. Enjoyed more than I thought

I remember when this was popular in the 90s - Its not the kind of thing that I would typically listen to but its actually a good album nonetheless. 3/5

this brings a smile to my face

This is super fun! Great background music for me since I’m missing out on the lyrics.

I like it.

First number is classic. The rest is so-so, but good enough for some coding background noise.

Decent background music, but no better. Fine, but not my favourite.

Nice background music. I'm ignorant about Latin music and it all sounds similar to my ears.

Bought this in the day

Great sound...love the piano mixed in with the horns on a few of the tracks.

(3/5) A Spanish album of all time. Fun to listen to, makes me want to dance, and musically very interesting. Not familiar with genre so was often hard to analyze or isolate instruments and patterns, eventually I just gave up and enjoyed the music. Don’t even speak the language and it felt nostalgic and reminiscent at times. A beautiful album.

Enjoyed it, though I think the real benefit of this album would be reading a bunch about Cuban music. Didn't deep listen, very nice to have on in the background.

This CD is not my style but it's immediately likeable. Cuban music is just a formula that works - lots of instrumental diversity, fun polyrhythms (and a bunch of unique-sounding percussive instruments), decent pace and tight composition, and interesting harmonies. I think it'd turn a lot of people off because they don't understand the lyrics, but I truly don't care. This isn't really doing anything unique or innovative, but I'd listen to it again.

One of the few foreign language albums that I enjoyed. It helps a lot of it was Spanish jazz instrumentals but even the songs with lyrics were still pretty fun to listen to. The brass throughout the album carries the Spanish style and provides a nice upbeat rhythm. Some of the songs were familiar as they were samples in more modern songs. Don’t know if I’d listen much again but I enjoyed it a little bit. 5.7/10

A pleasant album for background listening during work. But not something I'd actively listen to and towards the end I was getting quite tired of it.

Nice for summers

Legendary group, legendary song ...and that's it. "Chan Chan" might be one of the most recognisable songs ever, it's really amazing, doesn't matter if you're fan of Cuban music, or Latin rhythms. Great guitars - the main melody is perfectly melancholic and together with bongos and drums in the background instantly teleports you to the hot streets of Havana (even though I've never been there). Small solo at the end of the song was also incredibly fitting and atmospheric. But what makes this song whole, are the vocals from the group. Not very intricate, but they convey a lot of emotions with rather few words. Perfect composition. Unfortunately, that's where the positives of the album end, and it's so early on the record. All the other songs are forgettable and not really special in any way. I know that they probably helped expand the Cuban rhythms and culture to the wide world, but it doesn't work for me. The great atmosphere created on Chan Chan is gone, all we have then is just a mix of random tracks, like in a compilation. It's hard to give a proper rating for such a sinusoidal output, so I will probably go with a safe 3.

Though not my thing three stars for the exceptional musicianship, and the fact that on a sunny late autumn Sunday this was great wake-up and coffee music.

Really fun listen, but not something I would revisit.

A consistent album, seems like it lacks some variety though. Was just not fitting my mood

It's OK. Not really for me, but it's pretty good working music.

Had this before on the one with my dad and brother. It was ok

It was decent, really good background noise

Good background music

Nice, chilled latin music. I can enjoy it, without taking it in, and I can't help feeling I'm probably a bit of a tourist.

Two Latin albums in a row. I did like them both.

Gave this an honest shot, but its hard for me to vibe with music in a language i dont understand. Otherwise fine music, has a fun combination of instruments.

I liked. Even though I don’t understand Spanish they had a good sound and some great instrumental. Lyrics in some songs would get repetitive though.

A very calming and pleasant listen. I think the foreign vocals made me disengage a bit for better or worse. Everything was consistent track to track and I was neither thrilled nor bored.

Good, but not my thing.

Top 3 Songs: 1 - El Cuarto de Tula (3) 2 - Chan Chan (1) 3 - Candela (9)

Good album, Latin dance vibes. Piano, guitar and horns dominate sound. Early tracks mostly instrumental so very nice. Few later ones are just a guy going ham on the piano, not as nice.

It’s background music at beat

Cool!

It's pleasant, but I prefer Latin music that smokes with heat, not as background drinking sounds.

Didn’t finish yet but really like it so far. First track is the best but the rest all have a very cool sound that I’ll def listen to again

Musicianship is excellent, but there isn't quite enough variety to make this so memorable for me.

Another album that I can neither highly praise nor tear apart. It's just fine. It sounds old timey, it's mostly pleasant, it is rather boring, it's a genre I don't know much about. That's about all I can say. Giving a 3 but this is the definition of a 2.5 album for me.

A staple of my hi-fi salesman years. A recording of incredible faithfulness to live performance, and compelling stories of the musicians and their traditions...so why do I find it so wearing after the first half?

Pretty good. Excellent musicians, some great tunes. Not sure I could listen to the whole thing very often. Shannah - 3 Bill - 4 Conor - 3.2 (3.4/5)

It's fine, but not really for me

Probably one of the best albums from this genre - so rounding up from a two to a three. Was surprised to see Ry Cooder’s involvement, as I had heard about the band but did not know he was instrumental in getting this out. My guess is I would like this a lot more if I was on a beach with a cold Cuba Libre at hand.

Well this was different! I listened to most of this on a summer Saturday with the windows open. This album was made for listening in warm, fresh air…preferably with a drink in hand. I felt whisked away to a tropical place. I probably wouldn’t listen to this again but this was pleasant.

The soundtrack of a Mediterranean meal. I'm sure I'd love it on holiday in Cuba.

Nice background music and starts engagingly enough. A bit samey after a while.

amiable, then interminable

1997. Chan Chan, Dos Gardenias

Nice and gives party atmosphere, not really my thing though

The cover always reminds me of Calle Neptuno in Havana.

-"De Camino a La Vereda" sounds like every song I've ever heard in a Mexican restaurant. Actually like half the album sounds like every song I've ever heard in a Mexican resturant

Amazing musicianship and rhythms but can’t say it’s changed my life, would listen again

I'm pleading the fifth! I don't know what to say about this at all. I don't know anything about son, the genre of traditional Cuban music of which this album caused an international revival, and I don't think my opinions would be that considered or that insightful. I guess I can say I prefer the second half to the first, with the slower, more melodic songs, and the music sounds good throughout, although since I know nothing about son, I found it occasionally like wallpaper. A hedged bet of 3 stars, dolely because of my own ignorance.

This wasn't as great as I remembered it at the time. It's still a very polished album, but I think I got caught up in the hype when it was first released. There's great musicianship and the ambience of the album is maintained throughout. I wouldn't be in a hurry to for a repeat play though.

Enjoyable. Particularly like the first song (Chan Chan). It does get a bit samey after a while though...

When Ry Coder travelled to Havana to record a collab featuring Malian and Cuban musicians there was a last minute glitch when the Africans had visa issues so he went ahead and recorded just the Cubans. Fortunately for us, he captured the sounds of some aging local legends before they disappeared and left this gem for us to enjoy. The highlight of the album by far is Chan Chan which is the opener and sung by the octogenarian Compay Segundo. The rest of the album kinda meanders a bit and showcases the local repertoire and it also captures a wonderful performance by Reuben Gonzalez who unfortunately died a few years after this record was released. Overall, this is a solid outing and a fine example of Cuban Trova and Filin songs.

Jazzy/samba really my idea of bad music, this was ok and I’m loathed to mark as low as two. So this is getting a 3 stars.

A fun listen, but wouldnt be a go to.

04/06/22

Started off with some good songs but seemed to drag on a bit with more of the same 5/10

I really liked the vibe this album had. Most of the songs were enjoyable and comforting. I don't hear music like this too often, so it was a nice change of pace. Not an instant favorite, but I liked some of it.

Favorite Track - Bruce Maniguá Where I was - Office How I listened - Amazon music on speakers Listen Again? - No

Definitely fun, but it is the same vibe for a long time on this one. Could have done with cutting a few tracks.

Started off really great with the salsa stuff but it lost steam for me about half way through.

Musicianship on display here is impressive. It’s just not a genre I enjoy. Album art is cool, I dig its vibe.

Kyllähän tätä jossain Havannan clubilla kuuntelis sikari huulessa, rommi kädessä ja tulinen rakastajatar sylissä. Konttorirotan työpisteen taustamusana kokemus jää aavistuksen pliisuksi.

Very atmospheric, but not really my kind of thing unless I'm in the mood. Loved the title track, though.

Not sure what they were singing about, but I'm sure craving an enchilada now

Nice. Some great emotional expression in both singing and playing.

bem latino americano bailante

Very Enjoyable. Smooth latin jazz.

Alsof de zon schijnt in de winter

The sound of pre-revolutionary Cuba. Warm, romantic, and beautifully performed. Jam along on your otamatone.

A lot of fun. Good background music. Didn't add, but recommend for a Friday evening.

This is the sort of thing that gets played on repeat in backpacker hostels and bars across Asia. It doesn't suck by any means, but it's a one trick pony. 3/5.

13 December 2021 Listened in the morning while getting ready to go out and explore vancouver. Very vibey. Immediately feel like you're in Cuba.

Would tap my toe if I heard in a cuban restaurant

Great recording quality and production techniques, and good variety within the confines of the Latin sound.

I would like this album a lot more if it was much shorter. The musicianship and production are really good though.

Jazzy Mexican music. Pretty music. Nice to have in background for a dinner party. Not bad

very catchy guitar and piano tunes, vocals and back vocals remind me of late 40s music like "I don't want to set world on fire". Perfect listen when you are in a bar sipping machito.

few track is great, rest of them is pretty meh, sometimes it sounds too old and cubish

Very pleasant background music, like you'd hear in a mexican restaurant. Nothing that blew me away but obviously very musically accomplished.

*Latin album *Acoustic guitars, horns, percussion *Nice harmonies/vocals *Kind of a mariachi vibe to the songs *Track 4 Piano-focused instrumental

Not my usual style of music but appreciated it. Wish I spoke Spanish.

ye nice vibes a bit boring after a while extra points for not being in english

Abi dada music

Not my cup of tea

Latin Album, hard to comment on since I'm not super familiar with the genre but it's a nice listen and good for background/ambiance.

Pretty relaxing. 6/10

nice sounds but couldn't listen to it all day

Decent album, definitely a great background music but not my type of music for main listening ourposes

I enjoyed how this album made me feel like I was in Havana as I walked and drove with it playing.

The second album that features Cuban music and its better. The calm tempo makes it feel like you're in an old western movie at times. The Spanish lyrics are soothing and the guitar work is very good.

good vibes

Good fun for what it is. Won’t be top of my play list pile.

Bit too jazzy for my liking - but nice to hear

Wasn't sure about the start, but dang do I love a good piano piece. Solid 3 stars.

Not my type of music but it seems like it has an interesting story.

Wow, sometimes I hate this platform. YOU, however, should smile in relief that you don't have to read my 10,000+ word review. After spending too much time I care to admit, I navigated away and closed my the page. But here's the condensed version: --- | --- WOULD PRETENTIOUS-ASS LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM? Yes, this album would be played in the background for the swanky dinner parties I host as a way to prove I'm multidimensional, culturally astute, worldly and very, very deep. Otherwise, no.

If the whole album was like the first few songs, it would be 4 or 5 stars. Love the guitar-driven Cubano style on those tracks. The jazzier and piano-focused stuff I like less.

This album is a tweener for me. First off, I like the Cubano style music. I like the instrumentation. It feels like a party. The Spanish language barrier is not a deterrent for me. I’ve studied Español on/off, so I was excited to follow along with the lyrics. Not that I understood most of it, but a decent chunk I did. Per tip from JKav, there are somewhat incongruent styles amongst the songs. Judging the album as a whole, it is a bit off putting. I liked the first half of the album more than the back half. My 3 star bucket is widest of all, and this album bounced off the lower score rim and in.

Rating: 3 Soft sound

I don't normally listen to this kind of music, and I don't think this album will change that for me right now. To me, it was pleasant but there weren't any tracks that stood out.

Good, but not as fun as manu chao. Songs sound nice but dont really stick out to me

Feel like this genre tends to be quite repetitive Gets a bit tiresome for me probably because the words mean very little Nice sounds though 4.5/5 from annie more 'ariba' for 5 stars

Quite a good album, a bit slow in parts

A relatively easy listen, definitely one to put on if you were in the mood for some salsa like tunes. Not something I would go out of my way to listen to, but hosting a latin night or something like that would be good to put on in the background. Best: Chan Chan Worst: Buena Vista Social Club 2.5 Stars

Didn't have time to listen to the whole thing but liked what I heard. Made me think of community feel and carefree dancing and things which was a bit sad. The wiki page about this album is interesting.

I'm a sucker for this Spanish language music. Album is mostly just good background noise.

This made me feel things in my plums. An album with a sunny disposition. Could be 4 songs shorter, and it won't inspire you to go be the next Bowie, but I'm very happy that it exists and that I now know about it.

Tough to give this one a 3 because it's a good album. Refreshing and interesting. Vibes upon vibes. But few stand out tracks.

Okay but a tad boring. Probably good background music.

Tough one to rate. Its really good. Different, groovy, fun, chill. It's just not something that Im likely to listen to again as anything other than background music.

This was nice as background music through a few meetings

This is really rather good. It's an instant good mood being piped directly into my ears. I have no idea of anything they're singing about, but whatever it is it's being done really well. The music is lovely throughout. An enjoyable listen from start to finish.

Enjoyed this - heard of it but never listened.

Nice, easy listen. Background music.

Need to listen again

3.5 + Sunny and cozy jams from Cuban music veterans. The album has a nice live feel. Perfect for roadtrips or anytime you want something easy bopping in the background. I acknowledge the quality of this album but if I'm being honest, I found myself unexcited to revisit it. Besides \"Chan Chan\", the songs no longer move me.

Good backgound listening. Nothing struck my fancy.

good album for what it is but not my cup of tea. cant really understand a word they’re saying as i don’t speak spanish but i can appreciate it for what it is.

Funky. I like it.

Neat Spanish album

While this style of music isn't exactly my jam, I did enjoy this. Definitely gives you the feel of sitting on a sidewalk cafe in Cuba sipping a mojito. 3 stars.

Chan chan is straight 🔥🔥🔥

Spanish vibe. Throw on background record player

Can't understand them. Good brass. Pedal steel, nice.

Interesting Spanish language music.

Ry Cooder PARIS, TEXAS !!!!!!!!!

Sort of felt like I was waiting for my Burrito at Guzman to start with but it all came together at Pueblo Nuevo - I imagine Cat Empire would've listened to a lot of this kind of stuff.

It's good.

Would be good for coffee shop

It was good fun.

this is cool!

Not so much my style of music, but I like it. Also getting me pumped for my trip to colombia.

danza danza!

Enjoyable mostly but not an every week thing.

- Caribean flavor 🤙

Fun good, not something I'll listen to regularly

Jo men det är lite gütt. Men lite enformigt

Enjoyable, pleasant - the same way I would describe my Nan's quiche Lorraine. I can see why some people would love it, but it doesn't get me excited. Maybe the magic of this album got lost in translation.

Good, but not quite as stellar as I had remembered.

It was good. Don't know that it would ever be a go to, but I enjoyed the music.

spanish music idk not my style

Feels like I should be driving through desert mountains, or I’m at a local Mexican restaurant set to a calming radio station

Some fun pre-castro cuban vibes, very nice listen on a rainy day definitely set a mood

Pretty cool latin jazz piece

Knew of them and the album, but never heard a note of it. Therefore I was looking forward to listening to it as I'd heard good things, but ultimately I was disappointed. More a case of not my cup of tea than it's poor, but just found it a bit boring. Shame.

Saved? ❌ Would listen again? 🤔 Would recommend to anyone? ❌ Would buy on Vinyl?🤔

Well not my scene but definitely not unlistenable to. Seen it described as background music and must say I feel the same. Can't say I would ever listen again but would give a 2.

Not my thing but a few catchy tunes

not really my taste. well put together tho

Interesting music and voices.

not my style but i see why people like it

I can appreciate this but not something I'd come back to

It wasn’t yuck, but it wasn’t yum either

good ambience music

Niks.

Koselig, men kjedelig.

Enjoyed very little of this 2 stars

I liked the music it was super fun and feels relaxing to listen to when the suns out. I don’t speak Spanish though so I do wish I knew the lyrics

español, cubanos

Good but nothing I would listen to at anytime.

Let me raise a Cuba Libra in toast!

423/1089 - How many fucking songs on this project are just gonna be oscillations of 1 to 5 to 1 to 5 chords over and over again dressed up in different genres? I'm not even saying music should have more than 10 chords per song to be interesting, just stop using 1 4 and 5 all the time, or if you do, spice it up with a different parameter and don't do the most generic shit ever as it pertains to your principle genre. Way too competent for a 1 star rating. The performance is excellent. The music is milquetoast.

Decent Mexican mariachi vibes. Pretty music

1990s background music for dinner parties. As Half Man Half Biscuit said in The Light At The End Of The Tunnel (Is The Light Of An Oncoming Train): "She stayed with me until She moved to Notting Hill. She said it was the place to be. Where the cocaine is fair trade And frequently displayed Is the Buena Vista Social Club CD"

I've always wanted to like this more than I do, but it's just kind of repetitve and slow. Beautiful for sure with a great story, but just never moved me.

Perfect restaurant music at best

Definitely fun and of a style. Don't know if I'll be listening to this one again, but it was a good time!

Heard it before, and didn't get it then either.

Not horrible but not my thing

good at times

Listened while driving to and from work. Transported me from my current -20 degree Winnipeg day to a Cuban dance hall on the beach in the summer. Unfortunately for me the only things I hate more than dancing are beaches and summer heat. An excellently made record that is just not for me.

I’m not really that into the sounds here and not understanding any of the lyrics inhibited my ability to enjoy it a bit.

Sounds like music you'd hear on an episode of Narcos. Decently relaxing at least. Some good piano playing.

It's ok. You would need to be in a certain place or atmosphere to fully enjoy probably not during the winter in Scotland.

It is a 2 star rating
