Licensed To Ill
Beastie BoysObviously already knew some but loved this album.
Obviously already knew some but loved this album.
Had never heard of them before but loved it. All the sounds, the twang, the catchiness of the lyrics, I probably saved half the album to my music. This is why I'm doing this project, to find things like this. And also, what a name!
Enjoyed this more than expected!
Ahead of its time in terms of the electro/slippery sounds that are prevalent on this album. However, I feel that a lot of the songs are repetitive noise competing to be exciting to the user's ears, while the constant repetition makes it difficult to not skip to the next song while 30 seconds in 2/5
Everything was so smooth and easy listening. Fun lyrics to just vibe with. I couldn't say I was a Steely Dan "fan" before this, only the hits, but now this urges me to dig deeper!
I've heard some of these songs before and while it does have a calm vibe, it didn't really resonate with me while I sat at my work desk today. I listened to it a couple of times through but ended up feeling bored most of the time. No doubt a talented band, just wasn't the right fit for me at this time.
Definitely some nostalgic songs on here but a little too much grunge and distortion for me. I'd say I'm an average Nirvana fan but some of the songs I was tempted to skip because I wasn't into it at all. Heart Shaped Box and Rape Me are two memorable songs on here for me. 2/5
I enjoyed this despite not being a Beatles super fan. There were some really good melodies and the song that stuck out to me was I Dig Love, which was fun. Overall a mellow album for a quiet day.
Enjoyed the familiar tunes and was nice to have on in the background. Easy listening and pleasant to the ear
Enjoyed the elctornica and of course the favorite banger of the album, Cars. Seemed ahead of its time with nothing short of what I'd describe as experimental sound
Really liked it, unexpectedly. Will add more when I have the time
Enjoyed it. Lots of familiar favorites on here and wow, what sounds from the instruments!
Have listened to it through before. Of course this is a significant album in the progression of hip hop but I feel like had I grown up with it in my prime it would have more of an impact on me today. Today's market of rap and hip-hop is so saturated that it's sometimes easy to wash over albums
Not my vibe. Janet Jackson is definitely talented but the music didn't really resonate with me. Unfortunately after this I probably wouldn't listen again. Maybe her other albums would speak to me more but this one just didn't cut it for me.
Had never heard of them before but loved it. All the sounds, the twang, the catchiness of the lyrics, I probably saved half the album to my music. This is why I'm doing this project, to find things like this. And also, what a name!
Loved it. No other words to describe this album but SMOOOOOOOTH
Definitely some known songs on this album but just not my style at this point in life. NIN resonated with me a lot more in my teenage angst years
Definitely some good jams but I had a distracting day so it was hard for me to focus
Funky sound but not my vibe. Also a very distracted day so could have something to do with it
Solid listen. This one is more my time period so I was already pretty familiar. Enjoy the experimental sounds and of course the favorite "I've got more records than the KGB"
Was okay. What a doozy that 18 minute song was at the end haha. My knowledge is lacking pre 80s so it's nice to hear music from back when.
Struggled to pay attention. Was fine but nothing really stood out to me
Didn't really speak to me, but the background was nice
Not my vibe. Too relaxed for a crazy morning, felt like i was falling asleep
Never heard of him but thoroughly enjoyed
Love Offspring and have listened to this album many times before
Liked this a lot more than I thought I would
Loved it. Such great background music and calming tones
Loved it
Not for me
Have heard Wilco before but never listened to an album through. Thoroughly enjoyable!
Wasn't available for me to listen to fully but enjoyed what I could
I loved this. So smooth and retro
Liked this despite never hearing of them before
Liked some more than others but solid overall. Would probably dig more into them in the future now besides just Song(2) haha
Refreshing to hear some of the older songs as we are constantly barraged by current day Christmas
Not my vibe
Can't get into Arcade Fire. Not sure why
3. Some were okay, others too repetitive
3/5
4/5 enjoyed all the unique sound
4
Some familiar songs, but overall not totally my vibe. Was worth a listen.
I saw this was a 2 hour live album and was not excited. Since then I've listened to it three times through! What a surprise, the vocals, the absolute expert level of instruments and the passion of the performance put me over the top. Consider me the newest Deep Purple fan.
Had no idea what or who this was but really enjoyed it. Not sure why. Was it the color of the sky that day or just the soft sounds after a long night? Regardless 4/5
Good bars and I think had I listened to it in its prime it would have been different. After being exposed to Wu Tang I was expecting something different I guess.
Some good songs but enjoyed my first Costello album more.
Once again another live album that I wasn't thrilled to listen to. But WOW. The combination with the SFSO made such an awesome sound and really helped accentuate both the classical elements of the orchestra and of course Metallica's classic rock metal sound.
Fine. Little too chill for my morning.
A two song, eighteen minute album??? Once again, Deep Purple crushes it. I can confidently say this is one of my new favorite bands that's come out of this experience.
Another two song album but 39 minutes this time. Went back to back with Deep Purple and liked Deep Purple more. Definitely talent here but enjoyed more of a loud experience if listening to an 18 minute song.
Have always heard of them and knew a few hits but wow. Loved this album.
Liked this a lot more than expected.
Live albums are typically not my thing. Boys are Back in town mixed with strong guitar flow made this more enjoyable than expected.
LOVED THIS
Nah.
Yeah definitely enjoyed this more than I expected.
Absolutely not.
Obviously already knew some but loved this album.
Love Alright, but the rest was meh.
Loved it.
Wasn't sure what to expect here but what a delight! So many different types of sounds and songs. Some were ballads, some were weird spoken word, and some were just straight bangers. Listened to it 4-5 times through without even realizing. This prompts me to listen to more Meat Loaf!
What is this???
Yes everyone knows Aerosmith but I've never sat down to listen to a full album. Really enjoyed it, glad to have it on new rotation!
Wow!!! This was phenomenal
I liked this a lot!
Enjoyed this more than expected!
Nah this isn't for me
This was unique and not what I expected. Fun and had some interesting patterns. Will revisit again!
I just cannot get into Arcade Fire. I'm not sure why. I listened to this album three times and didn't save one song. It's a bummer, I want to like them!
I only knew Sunshine of Your Love before this but really enjoyed the sound and felt myself getting into the music. Will be back for more!
I didn't know I was a Lorde fan? I found myself tapping along from the beginning. Pleasantly surprised!
I wish I could give this 3.5. Parts of it I enjoyed. Parts of I did not enjoy. We'll call this a soft 4.
Unique in that it's 43 songs in 75 minutes and some of them I liked. But the style isn't really my jam. Enjoyed it for the uniqueness but probably won't be back to it.
Didn't speak to me besides School's Out
Definitely liked the first (hit) song of the album. Learned something new!
Unique and definitely attention getting but not my style outside of a few songs. Rating 4 for it being something I'd come back to and for standing out.
This was great music to work with and I've never heard of it before. Rating a 4 out of uniqueness and because I listened to it three straight times before moving on!
Really wanted to be into this because my Hendrix knowledge is limited. I listen to it 4 times through and while it was fine, I probably wouldn't go back to it right away.
Don't care for U2 and didn't like it on the first go. Listened to it twice more and found myself tapping along to a few of them. I'll be more open to U2 in the future now
Yes! This is the kind of stuff I hope to find during this journey. Toe tapping, out my realm, other world of music. Saved probably 6-7 of these songs.
I don't know what it is. I just do not like Arcade Fire. I did find one song on this album that I liked but overall I cannot get into the style.
Some interesting songs and good background listening music but nothing really stuck out. Glad I found another new artist though!
Some nostalgic hits in here. Absolutely love the song Yellow although that may be a little bit of a cliche but who cares!
Summer Breeze is familiar and wonderful. Did not like all the interviews at the end of the album. Sure it provides some behind the music context but 4 songs with interviews mixed in knocks it down a peg for me.
Can appreciate 90s grunge but listened to the album twice through and didn't save a song. Missed the mark for me.
Some of these songs made me double take by the weirdness of it so for that 4/5
Super nostalgic for me and I think that's why I'm rating it higher. This was a really important album in my adolescence and listening to it today transported me right back.
Yeah I like Beck. Reminds me a little of Tame Impala with how it sounds so wildly blended but it's only one person. Unique instrumentation and different lyrics lift this above the masses for me.
Heard a lot of Eagles growing up from my dad. Of course they're some great songs on here but I'm giving this album a little bump due to nostalgia.
This was... interesting. I didn't overall enjoy it but it was definitely a breath of fresh air.
I think I'm a little burnt out on Rolling in the Deep when it was all that played during COVID. Still, great vocals and unique experience from Adele.
Yeah this was great.
I can see the appeal of this but DJ and repetitive lyrics aren't my thing right now.
Watched the Hulu series not long ago and gave me some added insight to this group. While not everything resonates with me, the creativeness and the beats are far beyond their time. Would revisit in the future.
Read about his life and how tragic for him to die of drowning at 30 years old. I think of how much more he probably would have created and produced. Of course, Hallelujah always is a favorite and I listen to it every single time it comes on in life.
Mr. Blue Sky is one of my all-time favorite songs. I don't care how popular it is, I absolutely love it. 5/5
Interesting album! I liked it for the uniqueness!
I saw this was 2.5 hours and almost skipped it. While I didn't know anything about this band, I listened to it and some of the songs were pretty solid! Rating higher so I can return to it in the future. Nice surprise!
Nostalgic as this is one of four albums my dad played growing up. Still holds up today!
This was interesting! Didn't think I'd like it but honestly pretty perfect for work.
I had no idea what this is and then I did know after C'est Chic haha. Really interesting! I starred 4-5 songs to come back to later.
This was good. I'm on a hot streak right now. Everyone knows Can I Kick It, but that's where the knowledge ends.
Another good one! Didn't know any music of theirs besides Our House but this was a good album.
Not my style but doesn't deserve the hate it gets on this list.
I didn't know I was a Pixies fan but wow, now I'd say I definitely am. I was pretty familiar with other 90s grunge but just never looked into these guys. Saved a bunch of songs and will be back. Really happy that I was surprised!
I...really liked this. Have never heard of this band and was thinking I was just going to suffer though but listened to it three times in a row! Will be back for the Zutons!
Who knew that I'd like this so much but I did. Great album, will be back!
I feel like I need to actually sit down and listen to it again because I was pretty distracted this time. Regardless, it wasn't bad and I felt myself bopping along a few times.
Never really knew about the Arctic Monkeys but I liked this, will be back.
Only knew Take Your Mama so this album was a welcome surprise! Will be back.
I liked this! Some may call it background music but it was soothing for me while tending to my vomiting family during the stomach flu.
This one didn't speak to me as much as the first beastie boys album. Still okay. May revisit in future.
I've gained a much bigger appreciation of Bowie through this project.
Definitely some songs I knew on here but didn't really resonate with me overall. Still an interesting sound and unique to say the least. Rated a little higher for being out of the ordinary
I tried to like this but really didn't. Muffled and strange. Definitely unique but don't feel the need to ever listen again.
Didn't know Kate Bush until Stranger Things and now she's on my regular rotation.
This was solid. Listened to it three times through!
Nostalgic as I remember hearing it my dad's garage over and over and over again.
Nostalgic as this was on in my parents house a lot in my youth.
This was definitely interesting despite me never even hearing of the band before. Would be back to listen again!
Ehhh I understand what this did for music but I just couldn't get into it with my current mindset. Appreciate the difference it made but didn't resonate.
Couple big songs on here from my younger years that really resonated with me. However the rest of the album didn't really speak to me overall. Good, but not outstanding for me.
Not a big U2 fan but a couple songs on here what I recognized. So we'll call it average.
Couldn't get into it. Listened twice through.
Yeah I liked this. Great music to work with.
The gravel in the voice is unique and I've enjoyed other Cohen things but this album wasn't my favorite of his. Still solid and I don't feel like I wasted my time with it at all.
Ehh. Didn't really grip me.
In the right scenario I understand why this works but I'm just not into the digital soundscapes anymore.
I enjoyed this although probably wouldn't put it among my elite/top albums. Saved a few songs from it!
Something really soothing about listening to this album. When music had more soul and one woman singing alone could really wrap you up into the vibe.
Couple great songs on here but Bowie never really speaks to me. Enjoyed listening though.
Was fine. Good different music but didn't save anything.
Rock Lobster is a certified banger. Haven't listened to this album alone before. Definitely unique for it's time.
I can appreciate the style of music but a full hour of soft bedroom genre while I'm working just didn't hit for me.
Nah. Too slow and plucky.
Have listened to this before and didn't like it. This time I really sunk in and enjoyed the unique sound!
Meh. 3 because of Hungry Like the Wolf.
Meh
Yeah I liked this.
Only knew that one song, I Believe in a Thing Called Love, but dang this was a solid album! Will be back later!
Saw the first song was 20 minutes and almost skipped it. Glad I didn't. Listened to it twice more after. Definitely new to me and enjoyed this!
Wow!!! I didn't think I was going to like this but once again I am pleasantly surprised. Listened to this thrice.
I've listened to this album many many times before this so I was already aware of what it was. Awesome album by Kendrick, and even more powerful in it's prime.
A few catchy songs and I've been into the 60s vibe lately but it didn't blow me away.
Never heard of this band. Listened to the album four times. I'm on a roll!
Nah. This isn't for me.
Listened to this a lot back when it came out. It just doesn't have the same kick/appeal anymore now that we know that Kanye is fully off the rails.
Meh.
Meh
Some fun guitar solos and riffs but nah. Not a Megadeth guy.
Meh. Was okay.
I thought this was great. Maybe it was just my mood but it was so mellow and easy to listen to.
Nah
Yes!!! I F*CKING LOVE Steely Dan.
Meh. Fine for background but not my vibe.
Cult of Personality was already well known to me, but this was a nice surprise!
This was good. Of course I've already heard many of these but hearing the whole album end-to-end just added more context that I never knew about. Saved a bunch of songs from this one!
Yep, I like the 50s! Who knew!
I can appreciate the cultural significance of this album, but I really felt like halfway through I had to drag myself through the rest. Not for me.
A few good songs on here that I listened to when it originally came out. Nothing mind blowing though.
I just cannot get into Radiohead, no matter what I do. A few good songs but most of it didn't really resonate with me.
Yellow Submarine was a big part of my childhood, weirdly.
Nah
Nah, this wasn't for me. RIP Brian Wilson :(
Yeah, I like Beck.
Meh
Ehhhh
Wow, I really liked this! I've been a Willie fan in name but haven't ever gone back and truly listened to his albums as a whole. Consider me hooked on this folky 70s style serenade.
Neutral
Cover of War Pigs and the song "Epic" are solid!
I definitely enjoyed listening to this despite me not realizing that 40 minutes had gone by.
Stevie Wonder isn't always my favorite thing to listen to but gotta give this props for a few songs and of course, Superstition.
I was interested in this because I enjoy the punk vibe, but I didn't like this at all. Would not listen to again.
Not that this was bad but most of the songs sounded exactly the same. I kept looking down hoping it would be over soon but still had songs left. Again, not bad but not my vibe.
Fine, but I also almost fell asleep listening to it.
