Its hard not to appreciate the showmanship of James Brown however this did absolutely nothing to cure my disdain for live albums, if it were to be subtitled 80% of the text would be 'inaudible chatter' occasionally interspersed with a cacophony of felines at the wailing wall during one of the slowest half hours of my life

Beautiful album from start to finish and the lead single songs are absolute diamonds. Love homeward bound.

Another album where the lead singles are very good and listenable, it flows well but some of the songs are a bit too ploddy and slow for me. almost fell asleep during backdrifts which ironically led into one of the best songs on the album... 'go to sleep' 'There There and 'A Punch up at a wedding' brings this back up to a 3 for me

in the mid 2000s america stopped producing good bands and gave us two bob phantom of the opera tribute acts. at best it sounds like a haunted hipster carnival/circus

Another plinky plinky folk album, turns out these are quite nice to listen to. Was going to give it a steady 3 but the fact that one of the songs is basically final fantasy it's upped to a 4.

sounds like what me and my mates used to do in music in 6th form, piss about making noise on instruments. weirdly it's not truly awful and again the final fantasy factor gives it a minor improvement over the 1 it was destined for

talk abour the passion

the music is okay but the lyrics and whiney singing is representative of a man in a hard place. we've all been there, some of us crywank whilst binge watching peep show, others release this album

Soft spot for Dave's lads here, wasn't sure the whole album would be as good as the main singles but it's close

In the film Quadrophenia, Sting played 'Ace Face' who was the epitome of cool in the mod scene, however as Phil Daniels continues his downward spiral addicted to blueys he eventually comes crashing down finding out Ace Face is merely a bus boy at a hotel and is in fact a slave to the modern world earning pittance being bossed around. In a way, this is relative to Stings music as the more you listen to the Police, despite the appearance of the big hitters that he is in fact a genius, scratch beneath the surface and there is a lot of crap. still, 3/5 as i need to save face a bit having paid £75 to go watch them at twickenham 15 years ago

Nu metal was a bit of an unwanted guest back in my peak music TV watching era in the early 2000s and at the time I had no time for linkin park either especially with the weird MC shit and all the remixes however having a chance to look back objectively without a teenage strop on I can say this album was very good and there's a reason why these were so popular rather than say papa roach or something truly awful
