Blue eyed soul. Songs don't have the typical verse and chorus structure. More of a lyrical journey. She's got a breathy, sensual voice. Favorite songs were Son of a Preacher Man, Just One Smile, and Windmills of your Mind

Slow and funky. YT comments have me convinced this is best listened to while smoking weed
Fun album. The social commentary was a bit heavy handed at the beginning but after the first 3 tracks she said, "Get the point? Good. Let's dance." Afterwards followed more typical songs

British pop from the 90s. Almost every song in here is fun. I was familiar with the 1st track Girls and Boys but the rest were new to me. I liked Tracy Jacks, Parklife, Bank Holiday, and London Loves
This album grew on me. First listen through it just seemed okay. By the 3rd listen I liked most of the songs. Favorites were Riders on the Storm, Love Her Madly, LA Woman, Hyacinth House, and Cars Hiss By My Window
Blue eyed soul. Songs don't have the typical verse and chorus structure. More of a lyrical journey. She's got a breathy, sensual voice. Favorite songs were Son of a Preacher Man, Just One Smile, and Windmills of your Mind
Not a fan of Joplin's voice
Synth pop. Weird that their song titles don't match their lyrics. Their songs all kinda sound the same to me but if that's the sound you like then it's a good thing. Favorite songs were Love Vigilantes and Elegia
I'd heard this was supposed to be an amazing album but on first listen I just didn't get it. There were weird syncopations, unexpected falsetto, and some songs weren't sung so much as liltingly spoken. I did some research to see why this was considered a great album. Digging into her history have some background to some of the songs and those lyrics were just so poignant. She creates scenes and feelings so well and with so few words. This album almost felt like you were reading a diary it's so personal. I'm not entirely sure I like her style but it's growing on me. Fav songs: Little Green, Carey, River, Case of You
Fun album but not familiar enough with The Who to know how the live songs were different from the originals
Metal isn't really my thing but it wasn't horrible. There were a couple songs I liked: Remember Tomorrow, Running Free, and Transylvania
Nice voice, interesting lyrics. Liked the song Stolen Car
Didn't realize Celtic punk was a thing but I really liked it
Okay as background music I guess
Fun and Funky
Hard to believe that sound came out in 1983
First half of the album is good but drops off afterwards
Debut album. Didn't know they started out doing blues covers but it sounded good
A bit too long, but excellent guitar work. I did not care for it on first listen, but took a couple play throughs for me to start to appreciate it. Favorite songs: Boogie with Stu, Kashmir, Trampled under Foot, the Rover
First real exposure to Neil Young and I loved all the songs on this album. The acoustic side was beautiful, and the electric side was very grungy, not what I expected to hear in the 70s. Not for nothing was he called the godfather of grunge
Nice voice but all the songs sounded the same to me
Fun album. The social commentary was a bit heavy handed at the beginning but after the first 3 tracks she said, "Get the point? Good. Let's dance." Afterwards followed more typical songs
Never heard of this guy before but I love his sound
The auditory equivalent of visiting a modern art museum and having no idea what's going on
Liked a couple songs but most were just okay to me. Fav song was the White Queen. March of the Black Queen sounded like a forerunner to Bohemian Rhapsody
Not a fan of heavy metal but I did like Enter Sandman, Unforgiven, and Nothing Else Matters
That's no doubt she's talented but this music wasn't for me. I got bored halfway through
Slow and funky. YT comments have me convinced this is best listened to while smoking weed
Great album. Not too familiar with Madonna beyond what I've heard on the oldies station but I enjoyed pretty much every song on here
Fun album, liked most of the songs on here, despite only being familiar with Rikki Don't Lose That Number. Nice short and sweet album
Didn't like Smashing Pumpkins in the 90s. Still don't like them. Corgan's voice is so annoying
Generally not a fan of hip hop but I didn't completely hate it. I enjoyed the songs on the second half more than the first half. Fav songs: I Like the Way you Move, Hey Ya, Bowtie, Roses
Some fun songs here, however I wish I could unknow the meaning of the song Krisco Kisses. Ick
Fun bluesy rock album. I like their sound
Didn't care for the first half of the album, but the second half was alright. I liked I'm Shakin' and Hip (Eponymous) Poor Boy
Okay background music, that's about it for me
Don't normally listen to indie music but I really liked this one
Music was alright but didn't like the spoken parts by Stanley Unwin and his nonsensical language
Not a bad song on here. I had only been familiar with their singles but I liked pretty much every song. I had never realized that the Police had a reggae sound, but it's pretty obvious once it's pointed out
When over half the songs are released as singles you know it's going to be a good album. Love their sound
A bold endeavor but ultimately not for me
Surprisingly, I liked this one. Great background music that's not distracting
Some songs were okay, but some were highly annoying
Fun album
An early album with a fair number of covers. The songs are alright but kinda forgettable
Just can't stand it
I admit, I just don't get Joni Mitchell. I like reading her lyrics, I like the music the musicians play, but put it all together with her singing and I just don't like it that much. I wish her singing was more connected to the music instead of doing its own thing
Couldn't get into this one. Seemed too self indulgent
No idea what they were saying but it sounded so happy. Liked it
I'm warming up to country and I enjoy hearing part of its history. Loved the sound on this one
Sounds like a scifi soundtrack from the 70s. Seems kinda relaxing
Was okay but didn't seem like anything special
Loved it
Was only just okay for me
Enjoyed this one, great voice and lush music. I think with more listens this would move up a star
So talented. Every song on here was great
Pretty awesome Christmas album. Phil Spector produced some great music but was a terrible human being
Was okay but nothing that memorable
Never heard of these guys before but was a quick fun album
An interesting bit of folk history and I can certainly see where he gets the Ramblin' nickname
Not a fan of double albums or concept albums so it was uphill going for me. Felt bloated. There were some good songs on here but it felt like it was taking too long to get there. Not for me but I can understand why some would love it
Big fan of Depeche Mode's singles so it was fun to dive into one of their albums to hear some lesser known songs
Really liked the backing music, but still don't like rap so 2 stars for me
Man what a fun, fun album. I wasn't very familiar with this band (I only knew Bang a Gong) but I really enjoyed this album. The songs were fun, catchy and meshed well together. I expect I'll be listening to this one a lot in the near future
I think I enjoyed the history of this album more than the album itself
Nope, not for me
It took at least two complete play throughs before i could get used to his voice. He's not the most skilled singer, "if sandpaper could sing" is how one person is quoted in Dylan's wiki article. However, once I got used to it I really started to enjoy the songs and the lyrics. Great turn of phrase and imagery. The more I listen the more I like it, 4 stars for now but could edge up into 5 down the road
Was okay but kinda boring
This album was so long (100 min) but so good. The last 20 min are just instrumental jam sessions, which I'm not usually a fan of, but with 2 Beatles (Ringo on the drums) plus Eric Clapton on guitar it was just amazing. I was like, "Over already?"
Not being familiar with the history of the Beach Boys I was quite surprised to hear the first track was an environmentally- conscious admonition to Don't Go Near the Water. They sing about student protests, and depression (in Feel Flows), but also feet so their themes are all over the place. I liked most of their songs, favorite was Long Promised Road
Was okay. Harmonies were nice, but still felt like it was lacking something. Overall rather forgettable
Wasn't crazy about this at first, but multiple play throughs changed my mind. There's some catchy songs on here. Also Sesame Street did a parody of Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes, called a Monster Went and Ate My Red 2, that was pretty fun
Was okay. It felt like there were a lot of down tempo songs. Would have been nice to have a bit more variety. I did enjoy How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Somebody Stop the Music, Don't Want to Live Inside Myself, and Walking Back to Waterloo
Almost started to like it but didn't care for the vocals, too much yelling
Fine but, ultimately, forgettable. Liked Show Girl and Early Years
This caught me at the perfect time: a snowy day spent relaxing at home
I remember having a cassette of the Flaming Lips in the 90s. This one is better imo. I really liked Do You Realize, Fight Test, and Yoshimi and the Robots. The other tracks were okay but nothing to get excited about. I did enjoy their sound and their quirky lyrics
Interesting bit of country history. Tight harmonies and some of the songs tug at the heartstrings but the songs all kinda sound the same to me
A strong debut album with multiple hits still played (and maybe over played) on oldies stations
Her voice is certainly...um...niche. Not for everyone and certainly not for me. I did find this interesting quote from Nico about this album: "I still cannot listen to it, because everything I wanted for that record, they took it away. I asked for drums, they said no. I asked for more guitars, they said no. And I asked for simplicity, and they covered it in flutes! ... They added strings and – I didn't like them, but I could live with them. But the flute! The first time I heard the album, I cried and it was all because of the flute."
Parklife was my first album on this project and I had never heard of Blur before but I really liked it. It was so fun. I get they were trying to get in on the grunge sound with this album but I didn't like it
Never really listened to Elvis before. He's kinda fun
Not usually a hard rock fan but these songs are just so darn catchy. I think further listening would bump this up a star
Fun album
Not for me
Music was okay but not memorable
Some songs were interesting but most faded to the background for me
Kinda liked it. Will probably revisit later
Songs seemed to blend together and nothing really stood out
Ok I just don't like rap, but this... this was alright. I didn't hate it. I rather liked that it sounded upbeat and happy
I liked Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt better than the original. The only other song I liked was A Warm Place, which stands in stark contrast to the rest of the album's industrial yelling
Awesome album. Loved the many layers of instruments and his dark voice. I'll have to check out some more of his albums. Didn't quite make it up to 5 stars for me but perhaps more listens will bring it up
I haven't really listened to Bowie before except what's on the radio. This is probably not the best album to start with but I kinda enjoyed it. There's likely better soul albums out there but this was fine
Never heard of these guys before. Rather liked them. The lyrics of Unhappy Birthday made me laugh
I usually like to listen at least 2 or 3 times all the way through just to give it a fair chance but I just couldn't do it with this one
Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars for me. I liked maybe half the songs, but the ones I liked I really liked
First album I got from Pulp was really bland, but this one was much better. Feels like it could go up a star with more listens
Nice variety of sounds
Never heard of this group before but really liked the album
Great songs but the 9 min monologue for the last track was excessive. Otherwise was a fun album
I don't usually like rap, but I liked this
Surprised how much I liked this one
Rather poor recording, too many covers, and lots of yelling. The original songs were decent tho
Awesome album. I can see why it's their most well known
First song was good, plus a couple others, but the atonal songs annoyed me. It also seemed the songs were all over the place in terms of style
Some songs were alright but they all sounded a little too similar to each other
Ow my ears
I never listened to Lana much before, writing her off as "too sad", but I'm surprised at how much I liked this one. Her voice is quite lovely and the music is beautiful. But be warned, there's no upbeat songs on here so it's maybe not an everyday album
Never heard of these guys before but really liked them
I think this is an album where you just had to be there for it to be good
One of the easiest 5's I've given out lately. I was familiar with his hits but never listened to an album before. Both the music and the lyrics are fantastic; I loved every song
Lovely voice
I liked this more than I expected
I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. It still would be background music but it would be fun background music
Liked it more than I expected. It's wild this sound came out of the 70s
Four stars might be a bit generous, but I liked it the more I listened to it
Not something I normally listen to but maybe I should. Very fun album
Really liked the first two songs even tho electronic music usually isn't my thing but it rather dropped off after that. It all started to run together and sound the same to me
Be sure you listen to the original album with 8 tracks and not the rerelease with 26. I suspect all the reviews complaining about this album being too long were listening to the rerelease. Now, if 30 min of bongos is too much for you, I can respect that, but I thought it was pretty fun
Look I get that punk is not musically complex, but this felt like the same 4 chords for 30 min.
I'm so tired of hearing Elvis Costello. The album was ok, I even liked a couple songs, but it doesn't need to be on this list. Only like 100 more Costello albums to go...
So done with Elvis Costello. Please no more
I'm not a Taylor fan so I've never listened to her more than what gets played on the radio. I didn't hate it. In fact I liked some of it. I could have wished for more variety of sound and, if this is a lot like her previous album, I agree with others that it doesn't need to be on this list. 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4
I didn't expect to like this one as much as I did
Someone fix the radio tuning. There's too much static
Liked it more than I should given all the violence and misogyny.
Thought I would hate it but rather liked it. Kinda reminded me of the music they would play in 90s laser tag places
He says he's not a misogynist then says a bunch of misogynist stuff. Me: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means
Fine but forgettable
Never heard of this genre before. Don't think I'll listen to it again but I kinda liked it
Ah now, eventually you plan to have music on your music album, right? Hello? *Tapping on computer screen* Hello?
I got 2/3 of the way through but didn't finish. Songs are whimsical but 3 hours is way overkill. Anyone else kinda reminded me of They Might Be Giants? Just me?
Teenage me probably would have liked this album. Middle-aged me felt uncomfortable and sad. I did enjoy a few songs but enjoying murder for murder's sake is no longer my jam
This isn't usually my thing but was surprisingly fun to listen in the background as I accomplished some mostly mindless tasks
This album was way too long. It coulda been an email
The only thing I knew about Oasis was their song Wonderwall, which I can not stand. But this album was fun. I will probably play it again.
Kinda weird, mostly fun
Hated the first couple songs and couldn't wait for the album to be over. But then the last four songs got me and I listened to the album again for another perspective. Can't say I loved it but it wasn't bad
Another reviewer commented this band is what would happen if the Flaming Lips never ever took drugs and now I can't unhear it
Loved this one
The story behind the album was more interesting than the music itself
I liked the idea of listening to folk songs, but the voice was not for me: too much vibrato, too shrill
