Phenomenal album

Unpopular opinion: I like The Bends better. Still, a great album, if maybe just a bit sluggish in places.

made me miss her with Exit Music, Let Down, and Karma Police all in a roll. Good album with popular hits but not that great to use as a lock in type of album.

I've never really been hugely into Radiohead, I mean obviously I've known of them and some of their tracks are pretty unavoidable. But I've never really listened to them specifically or an entire album for that matter. I like this one. It's a little "sad boy" heavy at times but I think I'll return to this and give it more of the time it probably deserves to unfold sometime in the future Standouts Exit Music (For A Film) Karma Police No Surprises 4/5

Is this list trying to make me spiral??? Yeah another v good album, it’s a groundbreaker, everyone knows it, its very very good. Its quite depressing, it’s bleak, but there’s something in the music that holds you afloat. On this listen I’ve changed my mind and now prefer this to Kid A. 4.5/5.0 Best Song: Exit Music

A magnificently somber album that has one of the saddest songs within. This album has such an unique sound to it that is hard to criticize yet, like many others, there are still some songs that don’t quite reach the same level as the others.

What a classic. Happy days.

Muse le debe la vida a este disco

All these years later, this still sounds like the future. The themes of technology and its impact on the human experience are no less relevant today; the paranoia and claustrophobia has only gotten worse. The music is just as evocative, with a mostly familiar take on alternative rock layered with unique elements. The beautiful melody of "Let Down" and the solemn piano of "Karma Police" are at once comforting and distressing. While this coldness is what gives the album its impact, songs like "Paranoid Android" - while impressive in its format and complexity - can keep me at arm's length rather than inviting me in. Still, there's something so satisfying about the guitar tones and all the little details, not to mention the interplay between the louder songs and solemn ones, that makes coming back to it worthwhile.

Opening track is so cool. Feels like Radiohead. Paranoid android I get some PT vibes, minus the vocals. What a cool song, so many vibe changes, chords, kinda proggy, banger. Subterranean alien, so cool, wavey and psychedelic. Exit music - dark, melancholic, optimistic. Builds and builds, chills! Let down - a bit more forgettable, kinda poppy with some math rock elements. Karma Police the classic - enjoyed it even more in the context of the album. Fitter happier a weird interlude. Electioneering also interesting, cowbell. Climbing up the walls another forgettable one. No surprises another chill rock classic, mellow as it gets. Lucky also really good - this subtle western vibe, sneaky and mysterious, then kinda gospels?? Really cool. Closes out with the tourist, a slow and pretty song. Enjoyed it more than I was expecting, a solid 4.25/5

Obviously they’re good, but I’m sure there’s an emperor’s new clothes situation happening with how good everyone says they are.

Vägev album, mul hakkas täitsa kahju, et pole enne seda kuulanud. Täis originaalseid ideid ning osavat laulmist (millest Bono vaid unistaks). Selline solid 4.2/5

Not a huge Radiohead fan, but this album is worth appreciating.

All of the album, in its entirely, is incredible! The first half is amazing, the second half it slows down but it keeps you engaged. It's noisy, it's emotional and will get you hooked from beginning to end.

ya lo he escuchado :-) me gustó muchi

Another old favourite, although it’s been a long time since I listened in full! Favourite track: another tough choice, but I do love Karma Police.

Listened to this one twice and really enjoyed it both times! I’m still a little surprised it’s rated *this* high, but maybe nostalgia is a crazy drug? Can’t be too mad

it's good, but not the masterpiece everyone considers it to be

Listened 09/fev/26 Some very good songs but doesn't really grip me that much as a whole

good album but not as good as ppl make it up to be,too many skips tbh

"Unconventionality talented" is my two word review My connection to their sound varies more with mood than perhaps any other artist. Eg: I started listening to this album in the car on the way to work and largely found it too whiny to connect with ....and then a second listen at the end of the day when in a more reflective mood left me gobsmacked several times. Unconventional 4 stars, would revisit album in its entirely again.

Love this album, not their best but still strong

vibes. cool atmosphere.

It was an OK album, definitely overrated in my opinion though, some good song on there and some others that didnt really do it for me, pretty slow vibe, I guess its one of those one where you have to listen to it a few time to really get what everyone one is talking about. 7/10 for me and im being generous!

Faktisk mid tier Radiohead for min del. Men fremdeles bra.

I’ve heard a bit of Radiohead. The bends is a great album. A few of their other songs are great as well. I’ve heard a couple of the songs on this album, it should be good. Airbag: 7.2/10 The mix is fucking spot on. Everything sounds great. Nice guitar work. Great start to an album. Paranoid Android: 6.6/10 Has that off-kilter Radiohead sound to it. The bridge is fantastic, the riff is great. Fees like about 5 songs in one. Subterranean Homesick Alien: 6.2/10 Great intro sound. Exit Music (for a film): 6/10 Simple acoustic song. Let Down: 7/10 Sorrowful. Iconic. Has an American Football vibe to it. Karma Police: 10/10 Fantastic. Bloody. Song. Fitter Happier: filler Electioneering: 6.2/10 Nice rocker. Climbing up the Walls: 6/10 No Surprises: 8.5/10 Reminds me of House M.D. fantastic song with so much emotion. Lucky: 6.3/10 Groovy. The Tourist: 6.4/10 Relaxed and calm way to end one hell of an album.

Second time around, I get the hype. The songs' lyrics and atmosphere are reminiscent of these modern times. It's kind of surprising how we're living in a dystopia in the big 26. Thom seems disappointed and isolated with the world around him, I can't help but feel the same when listening to this too.

It was .. OK

Ziemlich gut, aber nicht atemberaubend :/

Never really got into Radiohead even though they seem right up my alley. The album definitely deserves its popularity, its really solid. The run of the last five tracks were my fave songs. 7.6/10

Iconic album enjoyable

Radiohead was the inspiration of my favorite 'Развлечение' album by Valetnin Strykalo. I appreciate the impact of this album and even like it at some point, but i don't really feel the vibe at this point of life.

First time listened in a while. Felt abit dated and 90s at times, but lots of good tracks, can see how it influenced a lot of bands to come after. Favourite songs were the more despressing ones lol (Let Down, Exit Music). Thom's voice got abit annoying at times

Amazing, it took me years to get into. So many songs that are a great listen.

Enjoyed, classic album.

I like this album a lot, but not as much I feel like I’m supposed to.

spacey, whiny, rainy

Classic. Not a consistent asI remembered

Banger

Parfait pour Clara qui est malade

Still my favourite Radiohead album after all these yearrs. Paranoid Android, Karma Police, No Surprises and The Tourist are all in my RH Top 10, and the whole thing is a really enjoyable listen. Yes, they're moody and the feeling of alienation and disconnect is all-encompassing, but really, what do you expect? Happy Talky Talky, Happy Talk?

This is one of their better albums, most of the songs are great!

Oh I am ready for this! Love Radiohead and this album, but actually unsure if this will reach the 4% club of 5* as a whole package. It’s been a while. Let’s see! I mean it is an amazing album with SO many absolutely fantastic songs. But it is with a heavy heart that it only gets 4.5* because my criteria for 5* is every singer landing and being solid. There are just a few on here that miss the mark, but my god, what an album still!

Man it took me about 5 listens to this to decide how I felt about it. There's no doubt this is Radiohead's best work; it's not perfect (it is Radiohead after all), but this album definitely gelled with me the most. I may also mention at this point that I fucking hate Radiohead except for In Rainbows - which also begs the next question, is this better than In Rainbows? Absolutely. I'm not going to go into vivid detail in this review as this is probably one of the most overanalysed and overrated albums ever. This shit definitely isn't one of the best albums of all time, but it's a pretty fucking good one. Maybe it would be if I wasn't a biased Radiohead hater. Anyways, yeah this is good, is it a 5? Probably just shy of it. This is definitely the only Radiohead album I've listened to so far (1 to go!!) that every song is at least OKAY on, rather than 9 dogshit songs, 1 okay song, and 1 good song. In fact, I'd say pretty much everything on this thing is good.

Is great but depressing so acc didn’t listen!!!!

Fuckin love this album bro

Not bad aye

LOVE. let down got me thru one of the toughest times in my life. wish exit music was the closer tho i always thought the placement was odd

instrumentally so impressive

Goated

I am pretty sure i have listened to this album a couple times before but can't really remember it. Pretty muhc has that classic Radiohead sound that I think most summarizes them. Cool electronic sounds with a unique singer and a mix of heavy synth songs and some slower rock type songs. Really liked Subterranean Homesick Alien. Fitter Happier was really strange with a speak and spell talking to me. Rest of album was really good

Genuinely good, dont know why i had mediocre expectations... i think i confused with with Pablo. Climbing up the walls Lucky Good guitar and vocals

Iconic album. This would be the kind of album you would want to bleed out to. Maybe I’m biased but after exit music , everything was taken to a different level. Putting exit music and let down right after it is soooo good. I actually like the addition of fitter happier. Electioneering is a very different vibe from the rest of the album, kind of like organized chaos in a sort of way. Climbing up the walls is so loser-in-the-corner vibe but I like it. Obviously love no surprises. Lucky is pretty good actually. Tourist is the calm after the storm, very nice ending to such a powerful album.

The perfect midpoint between the traditional and the experimental

Alternative rock, art rock.

Decent album, definitely pushes off key switches that defy what you would normally expect in a melody. This does a good job of keeping the album from sounding formulaic. Overall a good album, it’s not necessarily exactly up my wheelhouse but you can tell it’s a well made album. There are some obvious highlights like karma police. Fitter happier is horrendous. No surprises is a well made song.

Still great

Really interesting album, very simple and stripped back but moody and broody. Loved it

Great record - don't think it's necessarily a step up on The Bends, but it's definitely a move away from britpop inspired songwriting into something potentially more interesting

Very good listening t to this again last night, not played it for years, so good, Thom Yorke’s vocal so cool…

Pretty darn good just a radiohead album, but i knew some!

sehr gut

Okay, not the best vocalist but such a good album. I'd forgotten how much Climbing Up These Walls reminded me of the Comsat Angels

Imean it's a really nice album but still im not sure i would give it 5 stars.

This is the third Radiohead album I've generated - and the first I've enjoyed! Was it 5 star amazing? No. But it was enjoyable. Definitely overhyped 4 ⭐️

hauntingly beutiful

This is a great album, but buddy needs to learn how to enunciate better.

I've never heard of these guys, but they kinda sound like a grimier version of Coldplay... like a garage band version, maybe? It's a little too messy for me sometimes. Like during "Paranoid Android" I turned it up when he was singing the part about how God loves his children because it's such a beautiful message, but then the whole band goes crazy on their instruments and I couldn't get back to the speaker to turn it down fast enough. I hate when I get tricked like that! Can you imagine? In all seriousness, I've spent a disappointingly inadequate amount of time with the Radiohead catalog, though I do feel like I have working knowledge of the major albums. I'll blame it on growing up in the CD era when music purchases seemed like big choices and by the time I had a "fast" DSL internet connection to participate in file sharing, Radiohead wasn't Nu Metal or Post Hardcore enough for me to bother with. C'est la vie. Compared to the darker/sleepier shoegaze motifs of The Bends, OK Computer has a little more ethereal sparkle and feels much more expansive. It's still plenty shoegazey, but not quite as stuck as The Bends felt. If The Bends felt like depression, OK Computer just feels like winter. It's more difficult to compare this to Pablo Honey because they are so vastly different in approach. Pablo Honey is a good album, but the worst Radiohead album. Comparing to later works seems wrong, so I'll save it for when I review those albums. Overall, I'd grade this Computer better than OK. A solid output to established Radiohead as a band on the avant-edge of rock & roll. It's not 100% for me, but it's so so close.

If overdosing was a movie, this would be it's soundtrack.

Klassiker, men litt for mange anonyme spor.

I know some of the songs here but I'll try listening to all of it. 9/10. Favorites Climbing up the walls, Let Down, No Surprises.

Holds together well. Sombre, thoughtful but not overly morose. Some Velvet underground influences with careful use of xylehlphone.

4 1/2. So close to a perfect album.

ive listened to this a while ago i think in total 3 times its a great fun album with my favs being Electioneering and Let Down :> love the way everything goes together and the themes too and the weird robotic interlude

This is the type of album you listen to when you need to feel something

Well, apparently an album 4 years before Amnesiac. It's a bit more light and friendly feeling. If i could rate again i'd give Amnesiac a 3☆ instead, cause this one is more on the 3.5/4☆ side. And i somehow did know about 'No Surprises'.

From the get go we start with the first track “Airbag” the sounds of this song bring a dystopian and dark feeling the lyrics along also mention war and heroism , though this song touches on how car crashes are life threats and “airbag” is what saves lives . The album explores many themes and elements from self reflection to political instability my favorite track is “climbing up the walls” track 9 this is said to be the scariest song on the album but to me it felt raw and real battling yourself sounds like climbing up the walls neutral and hunting. The album ends with track 12 “the tourist” which felt like a perfect ending to this album. The song talks about slowing down and enjoying what’s in front of you the band even goes as far as calling people who rush idiots but to me this felt like another way of saying slow down and really digest this album what you just heard. The song ends with a chime signaling the end of the album. I can see why this album is such a staple in today’s music industry, it brought feeling I never thought could be translated into a song.

It was pretty good I liked most of the songs and it was nice to hear some that weren’t that popular found a new song I love!

iwl I'm writing my essay while listening to this so I'm not giving it my full attention but I'm loving the instrumentals and I like Yorke's voice here whereas I've found him quite whiny before.

I enjoyed this, but didn't love it

Radiohead might be the #1 artist I've tried many times to get into but I just can't love, BUT this album was pretty sick even if it doesn't 100% crunch with me 8.4/10

Chill album that sits above the slew of mediocre albums on this list. 8 digital blacks out of 10 ziwards

4+ Exit music (for a film) Let down Karma Police Climbing up the walls No surprises The Tourist

Incroyable

A los 28, ya casi no aguanto partes de este album. Fuera de los claros méritos musicales, en serio siento que el zionismo liberal de Yorke y Greenwood los ha vuelto insoportables.

Not my fav but electioneering is the best Radiohead song. Lucky and karma police are also great on this album.

camarón mi maquinón

I want to listen to this more

Really enjoy this album just not as much as The Bends

Fave: Exit Music (for a film), No Surprised I like some songs by radiohead, but i can’t stand the whole album i’m sorry

Huge sounds, sad noise. Recognised a few songs. Top song: Lucky.

How can an album be this good and STILL be overrated? I want to find the groundbreaking hook here, but I can't. It's a great album. I could listen to it back to back and still enjoy it and even find new things, but it's not a 5. It's a combination of Sashing Pumpkins, Morrissey, and Oasis. AND it's not even their best album.

I knew a lot of their songs and didn't know they were this band

Es ist perfekt wenn man abends nach einen harten Tag einfach im Bett liegt und mit Kopfhörern die Decke anstarrt. Wenn man Komfort in einem Album braucht, wenn man verstanden werden will und verloren ist.

Can’t believe I’ve never listened to this album before

such a good album i like listening to it as a whole i’ve only ever heard a few songs

Genuinely pretty. I enjoyed my time listening to this.

Supposedly this album has been very prophetic in its futuristic subject matter. If only the singer would enunciate. Pet theory: the songs that became a radio hit are the ones where he is actually intelligible. The most reluctant four I'll give because it is genuinely very pretty and layered but damn it Tom Yorke, open your mouth throughout all of the sentence please.

AWESOME. LOVE!

My favourite Radiohead album.

one of those albums that can sound different based on mood. Era defining album.

I still don't know that I get Radiohead but I liked this one I suppose

great album, trippy interludes, great from top to bottom

This has been one of my favorites for a while. Not my favorite Radiohead record but still solid nonetheless.

I can see myself coming back to this album and giving it a relisten, as it truly is unique. Didn’t wow me fully on first listen though.

Definitely better than I expected, because I don't like Radiohead. There are a few great songs here, some that are listenable and some that are insufferable. The problem I have with it is that by the end, I thought that every song had the same vocal lines and ending the album with an incredibly boring song wasn't a great idea. Still, I can see that this is a very influential album, I can see that Muse (a band I like) "stole" a lot from here. When the songs are good, they're great. Karma Police and Paranoid Android are incredible. All in all, a 3.5 album for me.

GETTING CAUGHT UP! really not the biggest Radiohead guy but you can't deny the significance of this album like almost every song has been memefied or used in some legendary movie scene so I can't fight it too much. I've always loved No Surprises but I can't listen to it too much or I won't make it out alive

best album so far

Still one of the best bands to take a reflective nap to .

It's a classic, there are some songs in here that I really like, and karma police is the first real song that I am learning to play on my bass, but just personally it does not work that much as it does to other people. Still very good though

It is a fine album. The highs are really high but a bit too much filler to warrant 5*

I was always astounded by the hype around this album. I feel like it was important for me when I was around 15, but now I rarely feel the need to put it on (which is the case for a lot of albums on this list). Nevertheless, I don't hate it, it's pure nostalgia for me. 3.5/5 rounded up Fav songs: Paranoid Android, Fitter Happier, No Surprises

Radiohead is weird for me. 2/3 of their stuff is just Pumpkin Smashing noise and 1/3 is the most beautiful heartbreaking music ever

Really good. 4.49 stars

4 stars mostly because it features a great highway interchange of Hartford, Connecticut on the cover.

Hyvä levy kuten odottaa saattoi. 3,5/4.

Nice good Radiohead

Super-weird that this album was pretty much unknown to me, despite how hyped it is and was. Probably only heard 1 or 2 tracks before this. Listened twice in hopes of seeing what made it so special. Almost got there. The problem with this challenge is that listening to anything once is rarely conducive to appreciate it.

i mean, it's OK Computer. You asked anyone on the internet what the best album of all time was from 1998-2014 and you'd get four answers; dark side of the moon, abbey road, in the court of the crimson king, and if they were under 35 - OK Computer. I've listened to this album countless times, it was a major high school album for me. I hadn't listened to it since 2023, aside from the random plays of Let Down and Electioneering that show up in my last.fm profile. Getting to re-listen to it for the purposes of this game (this is no fucking game to me) was a treat. Throw on the first track Airbag, fit like an old sweater. Ran through the album twice. Still thinking "oh, this is one of the best albums of the decade." But then I thought about what my other favorite albums of the decade were and I realized that OK Computer actually isn't one of my favorite albums of the decade even though it's essentially canonized as one of the best. There is a slight difference between "favorite" and "best", to which I explain by saying the Beastie Boys' Hello Nasty is one of my favorites of the decade...but it's certainly not better, in like a historical sense than OK Computer. OK Computer is genuinely seismic in tone, sound, lyrical content, and overall craftsmanship. Its adoration is maybe, perhaps slightly, a touch overblown but I think about listening to a song like Paranoid Android in 1997 - the digital age is ascending. TIME Magazine is writing on how the internet will dramatically change our lives for the better, Tony Blair's awful visage is doing its best to contort into a smile while his American counterpart makes the neoliberal fire sale look easy, this company called AOL keeps sending you CDs in the mail because you hit a checkmark on some obscure survey you filled out nine months prior. There's a lot of optimism around this new technology which presently seems expensive and obscure but capital F-uturistic. And here comes this mopey British guy whose album is framed around technology and has the gob to suggest that technology not only won't fix the world, it'll actually exacerbate its problems. It's little wonder its pessimism resonated with the miserable music journalists and disenchanted Gen X'ers of the time and it's unsurprising that it holds cache to today. The iciness of a song like Electioneering, one of the more explicitly political and (imo) most underrated songs on the album, is almost entirely borne out of turn-of-the-century angst over the failure of British Labour project. That said, I do find Thom Yorke increasingly unbearable. Part of this is his politics and how he presents himself. He's such a fucking pariah. And this weepiness is all over OK Computer. It has to be, right? One song I've unfortunately never been able to enjoy is Karma Police. This is mostly because it's used as repeated punchline in an old DERRICKCOMEDY sketch that I watched well before I listened to OK Computer. In the sketch, the aggrieved Kevin uses the song to melodramatically drive home how "hurt" he is over his girlfriend cheating on him. The sketch's decision to use the song is clever; Karma Police, like their previous major hit Creep, is vindictive and it prostrates itself far too quickly - taking a vulnerable position in order to be crueler when it's inevitably forgiven. I really don't like that aspect of Thom Yorke and it shakes out throughout a good chunk of OK Computer. You hear it on Subterranean Homesick Alien and No Surprises too. The songs themselves are really strong, they are incredible tonal achievements but the more time The Culture has me spend with Yorke defending playing in Tel Aviv at length, the less grace I'm willing to grant him for his annoying martyrdom. Climb off your cross, those aren't even nails, they're thumbtacks! Favorite Tracks: Let Down, Electioneering, Paranoid Android, No Surprises associated DERRICKCOMEDY sketch: https://youtu.be/Rcx4_CszaDI?si=J2xgOY_EKGzrieFy

For a while I have neglected the majority of Radiohead's discography (other than Pablo Honey, strangely?), mostly because of the association the band has with pretentious mansplaining pricks. However, I've overcome my stubbornness as I've matured and I can say that this album is actually something I enjoy. It's definitely something I would've enjoyed more in my depressive stoner era, but I appreciate the whole atmosphere. Standout songs for me: - Subterranean Homesick Alien - Let Down - The Tourist Don't think I'll relisten to most of it anytime soon because the album is too relevant to modern society and it'll only make me sad. Great album though!

I think a downside of this 1001 project is that I’m prepared to give a bit more time to albums I think I should like. Or albums from which I like some tracks but don’t know the rest. Maybe it should be limited to maximum of 2 listens. Because generally by the time I've got to a 4th or even 3rd listen, any album is going to have grown on me (with a few exceptions).

Yes I do like this. It’s that sort of miserable navel gazing album I’d have played to death in my student days at 2am when I’d tried to get off with someone down Pickwicks and failed (yet again). For the melody and production alone it could be a 5. Perhaps for the lyrics too if I could actually hear any of them. But I can’t disagree with the general consensus, Thom Yorke is so whiny he becomes inaudible. So that… plus the whole band coming across as humourless and up themselves loses them a star. Though to be honest, I’m sure they couldn’t give a rat’s arse what anyone thinks.

A very very very good album. Although it’s a bit maligned now because it’s one of the go to answer when discussing great albums, I can see why people have it in the discussion. It’s not a perfect score from me however because fitter happier is not a good song and should’ve been left on the track list. Everything else about it is great

For this Radiohead-valuer but not so much -adherent, Ok Computer and In Rainbows (yes, not Kid A) are their two best releases, and nearly prepare me to concede that they're one the great bands. Insofar as In Rainbows is the apotheosis of their gorgeousness, Ok Computer is the zenith of their rawness and vulnerability: it's the record that's more believable and more emotionally pertinent than any other. Yorke is still a limited and too-studied lyricist - 'And now we are one / In everlasting peace'; 'Don't get sentimental / It always ends up drivel' - but he never whines, just lays down his oomph w/ color and variety. The fact that each song is essentially a ballad is what makes this record so impressively complete: it's doing what it's good at.

Raidohead=top tier

Classic’s

I had minimal exposure to Radiohead prior to this album, and from what little I had heard previously, I didn’t expect to like this record at all. Was I ever surprised! Much mellower than I had anticipated, and there are some really haunting melodies in here. The lead singer reminds me a bit of Bono. As this album went on, the more I liked it. What started out as a three star record ended up a four star effort, in my opinion. I will want to listen to this one again.

Esse é bom, mas não eh meu preferido do radiohead, mas eh incrível msm assim. 9/10

One of the best albums of the 90s and top 3 of Radioheads catalogue

« No surprise », this album stands out for its excellence and shaped its generation! This album brings at its listeners a good karma and also luck

I think this is the first time I listened to a Radiohead record front to back. I was surprised by how much crunchy guitar was in here and thought it melded nicely with Thom Yorke’s vocals. There were a handful of great songs in here, just a few pockets that missed me. Best Track: Karma Police

Epically good. Experimental electronic sounds mixed with straightforward hard rock.

Great listen.

Great album. Listened a few times before. Appreciate it

Radioheaad just knows how to make an emotionally packed tune. It is incredible to me how they can create such complex feelings in their songs. Let Down is by far one of my favorite tracks on this album because it embodies a deep sadness but packs it into a beautiful song. It brings up so much emotion for me every time I listen to it! The rest of the album is great, with only two low points.

He Buzzes Like A Fridge 1001 Albums Generator 142 (10/17/2025) OK Computer is Radiohead's third studio album and it's an album that I really don't need to say anything about. It is widely and often considered one of the greatest albums of all time. It represented a transition from Radiohead's more simple Britpop-inspired alt rock to something more artistic with a definite vision, albiet an abstract and at times oblique one. Musically, this is quite an ambitious undertaking, from Paranoid Android's through-composed structure to the polymeter of Let Down to the relative heaviness of Electioneering, this album does a lot to keep the listener entertained, but it also has a distinctive sound. The first half of this album is practically perfect. Even my least favorite song on the first half, Exit Music, has one of my favorite moments when it opens up in the last minute or so with the distorted bass and drums. It's really powerful. Every other moment through Karma Police is essentially without fault. I've always found the second half a little less memorable, with Climbing Up The Walls and Lucky being my least favorite songs, but No Surprises and The Tourist are both fantastic. The former is especially heartbreaking. With all that said, In Rainbows is my pick for the finest moment of Radiohead's career, although OK Computer is deserving of the praise it gets. 4.5/5, rounded down to a 4. Favs: Paranoid Android Let Down Karma Police Least Fav: Lucky

An early creative peak for the band.

pas mal mais tjs aussi chelou. Il y a qq titres exceptionnels

Challenging but came through in the end. Large soundscapes on some tracks. Music to absorb rather than dance to.

Gotta say I enjoyed this one, especially Paranoid Android and Karma Police. Not my first listen through.

Cool band I reckon

There is lots to appreciate about OK Computer, the first six tracks are epic. However whilst harsh the three tracks to No suprises dont match up to that very high standard, as harsh as that is I dont think i can say they belong on a five star album.

Due to mumbling Thom Yorke, I've so far found Radiohead albums a bit of a mixed bag in terms of my marking, but this one has No Surprises on it, and I love No Surprises. I was a bit surprised to see the song from this album with the highest popularity on Amazon Music wasn't Karma Police, but instead was Let Down. I should have guessed it was Tiktok's fault, but it's still surprising to me that a nearly 30 year old album track can suddenly become massive due to social media - it made the Billboard top 100 in August! On the negative points, there are now two songs on two different albums with a computer generated voice that I don't like (the other is "You Liked This (Okay, Computer!)" by Will Wood, named for Fitter Happier by Radiohead). I don't care that it's intended to invoke a certain emotional response - in me, the emotional response is irritated. The singles are all great. From the non-singles, Electioneering is fantastic and I really liked Climbing Up The Walls. I can absolutely understand why this album gets all the plaudits. It's not something I'd personally want to regularly listen to from start to finish, but it's incredibly accomplished. 4/5

Day 151 and this is my third Radiohead album. I got In Rainbows five days ago and found it a very surprisingly enjoyable listen. In my review, I stated that OK Computer is the only album of theirs I actually "love" and that much of the rest after their discography I hadn't really paid attention to, and didn't think I cared much for. This is especially true for the albums that came after this one. I was very excited to get this album today, and dove in with relish. I hadn't listened to it in full in many years, so I was excited to play it with reasonably fresh ears. And what I found is that while great in many ways, it's not as good as I used to think. It was such a new sound (to me) when it first came out and it felt like something was changing in music, which it did in many ways (thanks Coldplay, etc). But It didn't blow me away almost 30 years later. I think it's a great album, but listening to this I didn't feel like I felt listening to In Rainbows just a few days ago. It might not be a fair thing when a great album doesn't blow me away like it used to. I wanted this to be a five and it's likely going to be a four.

Favorite Songs on initial listen: Exit Music and Let Down Not the usual kind of music I listen too, liked it more the more I listened. Hard to understand lyrics (mumbling). Unique sounds with headphones on

I really enjoyed this album. Great songwriting and interesting melodies. These guys are top-notch musicians. I expected some pretentiousness and, instead, found thoughtfulness and profoundly listenable ballads and biting rock and roll.

But for this project I would never have spent a few hours listening and relistening to the Pet Shop Boys and then a couple more hours listening to OK Computer. It really makes you appreciate the creativity of Radiohead. I still don't love most of it but I do appreciate it. I didn't give Paranoid Android the credit it deserved back when it came out, what a great song.

This album’s second half from Karma Police on is pretty great.

Yes it's great but it is a tad overrated. Still, the claustrophobic, dystopian nature of the music still resonates today and it has aged very well. I do prefer The Bends over this but can't deny how good this one is.

I haven't really taken the time to listen to a full Radiohead album, but I'm glad I listened to this one. It's sad and dissonant but still enjoyable to listen to all the way through. I enjoyed this a lot

muito bom

I’m sorry to every twenty or thirty-something out there, this album is not better than In Rainbows. It’s still pretty good, though. And it gave us Exit Music (For a Film) and Karma Police, so I won’t be too mad at the Website Gods for giving us this album today

it's just one of those albums man. i may not be a thom fan, but i'll be damned if this album isn't it.

Overall, the instrumental performances are varied and ear-catching. Gen X prog rock. Given the albums reputation for having a strong theme, I would expect to have a more understandable vocal performance. But then again some of my negative songs were ones I could understand. I guess my issue is that I know they can manage a large soundscape with intelligible lyrics because of other albums and it would have really sent this one over the top.

Not my favorite radio head album but still excellent.

Another high school record for me that was on constantly. I kinda stopped listening to Radiohead after this record and I know people are fanatical about them but it just didn’t grab me that much. Earlier this year I decided to go back and listen to their entire catalog and see if maybe I was wrong and came away feeling like they are a really good band who is just not so much for me. This record however holds a ton of nostalgia and I loved listening to it again.

This is an album I definitely need more time with. I think my appreciation will grow with more listens, but I did enjoy it a lot as a first pass through.

Album 908 of 1089 Radiohead - OK Computer (1997) Rating : 3.5 / 5 Many tout this as the greatest album ever made, but I just can’t relate to that. For me, it’s an “ok” album - nicely produced, with a clean sound and the kind of laid-back indie rock feel that’s easy enough to listen to. But there was nothing here that really differentiated it from a dozen other albums in the same lane. The tracks just didn’t resonate with me. For those who are a little indifferent about this record, I can see the common reactions: that it feels too cold and detached, or that it’s more about atmosphere than memorable songs. While I respect what Radiohead was going for and can understand why it struck such a chord for others, it just didn’t connect with me in the same way.

karma police exit music lucky tourist немного ноющий, но некоторые заходят как артхаус

my favorite of the radiohead albums so far

Un disco muy completo, varios temazos. En algún momento con letras algo intensas de más. Muy sólido

another classis.what a good week. this set the tone for future sounds

Me ha gustado más que el otro que escuchamos, pero menos que el de los arcoiris.

Enjoyable listen, Add “No surprises” to Playlist

First Listen: Jul 21 2023 not my favorite radiohead album but its really cool tho

In Rainbows, Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail To the Thief і навіть Moon Shaped Pool. Але як поставити менше 4?

The composition is very good, but it's a little sad-sacky for me.

What a shame he's on his pro israel shit

Airbag - The guitar part for this song is pretty good, but Mr. Head's intolerable moaning is a discredit to the song. It's like he actually doesn't want you to know what he's singing about while he pathetically mumbles through the lyrics. Plus the last minute with the random machine sounds is a little cute but also a little too cute, giving off the snobbish air of pseudo-experimentation in place of melody. Rather than being hip-hop or industrial influenced it just sounds like the background hides some of the sound effects of my tinnitus. Paranoid Android - I like the musical part a lot better on this one than I did on Airbag (which was honestly pretty good as well. Honestly the vocals sound like if the singer of the Barenaked Ladies was an Oxford dropout, trying way too hard to simultaneously sound both posh and edgy. The worst part is that I legitimately cannot make out what he's saying except for the chorus, which is just "What's thiiiiis" repeated over and over in the slurred cadence of a drunk. The slow section is also pretty good, especially because the singer is not trying to sing actual words (to the best of my knowledge) which makes the song less of a pain to decipher what's actually going on. I also quite liked the transitions between the fast and slow sections and the machine sounds in the last minute of this song (I think I can start to see a pattern forming here) fit in a lot better with the song rather than sounding grating. Plus I liked the bass hook a lot. Subterranean Homesick Alien - I think a part of the music I've underrated so far is the drum part, which is very solid and consistent. However, the singing continues to be terrible (I can only make out two words "alien" in one of the verses, plus what I think is the word "uptight" repeated over and over? to make up what seems like a pathetic attempt at a chorus). The distortion on the guitar as well, while it doesn't really add a huge amount to the song, still sounds pretty good and fits in with the "industrial" theme of the album so far so I do have to give it that. The bass and guitar riffs in this song also sound similar to "High Speed" by Coldplay, which is a song I do like a lot and they are also done very well here. Exit Music (For a Film) - The acoustic guitar bit in the opening reminds me a bit of some Quebecois music, which is an interesting departure from the trend set so far I suppose. It seems like Head is singing very soulfully about something, but again I have no idea what he is moping about given how it's impossible to parse what he says. Something about waking up and breathing? I don't really know that I like the acoustic guitar part in this song (it doesn't really seem to fit but being generous maybe that's the point?). When it transitions to the violin and electric guitar I feel like that does the juxtaposition of old style and new style a lot better. The synth part throughout the song that sounds like chanting is also a nice touch I suppose, but I don't really see what the seagulls chirping (or whatever that loop is) really adds to the song. Let Down - I've heard this song, and honestly it is pretty good. The guitar, bass, drums and whatever is playing the riff in the background (maybe a xylophone?) all fit together really well. But again I can't tell what is being sung (something something "Let Down") is really all I got. If I'm being kind to this album maybe in a weird postmodernist sense that's the point maybe? The incomprehensibility of modern life is reflect in the incomprehensibility of the lyrics and you shouldn't try to find meaning in it as there is none? I don't know, but what I do know is that I liked the interlude section where all of the instruments slowly come back in. Karma Police - Another song I've heard before and liked. The drum part is really outstanding plus the violin merged with human voice that fades in and out (it's probably not that but it's what it sounds like). Plus I can actually make out what the vocalist is singing which is very helpful for establishing a meaning for the song. Plus the piano/guitar and drums synergize really well to sort of (I hate to use the word juxtaposition again but that's what it is) juxtapose the fast and slow pace, sort of creating conflicting feelings. The message of the song is also pretty interesting, from my personal interpretation it's about "cancel culture" before that really existed as a concept, but specifically how the "Karma Police" of society sort of dictate what our cultural mores are and you either follow them and lose your individuality ("I lost myself") or you become a pariah ("this is what you get when you mess with us") Fitter Happier - This is a weird "song" if you can even call it that. At this point now that I can tell what the speaker is saying (it's a robotic voice) I'm on board with analyzing some existing message of this album. The robot basically lists things that like a "functional adult" would do in order to live a "good life" and then says at the end that it makes you docile and trapped (basically like a sheep slave to the broader culture's prescription for how you should live). This sort of ties into the point of Karma Police, but I don't really get what the album is saying should be done instead? Like, I would like to go the gym and get better sleep and find love etc. not because society tells me that's good for me and I'm a liberal sheep but because like it is healthy in some objective sense (but maybe I'm such a sheep that I can't even recognize that I'm being oppressed?). Maybe the point is that by reaching some sense of "adulthood" you lose the risk, idealism and flexibility of youth in favor of pragmatism and the status quo and that makes you weak in some sense? One good thing I will say about this song though is that all of the "instrumental" backing and samples do a really good job of creating a sense of unease while the robot talks and it's a really stark break from the driven guitar+bass+drums. Electioneering - Honestly could be my favorite song on the album so far. I really like the western/heartland vibes given by the guitars combined with the tambourine and cowbell(?). Again, I still can't really tell what the singer is singing about but I think he said "Electioneering" at one point in the song? Plus something about "going forwards and backwards", if I had to take my best guess, maybe the lyrics are some sort of trashing of compromise since it "compromises" the goals of idealists. If that's right it would fit with the broader message of being anti the sort of principle of like collaborating with others to form a broader society. Maybe it's a comment on the two party system (even Britain had one at the time even though they're up to like 4 now), and the idea that the singer doesn't really like either of the two choices presented to them since they have done things that are less than perfect. Honestly, I don't really know. Climbing Up the Walls - I don't really have much to say about this song except that the singer is even less understandable than usual since unfortunately in their infinite wisdom they decided to put a distortion effect on his voice. But speaking in terms of vibes and music, I thought everything meshed together pretty well. No notes on that front. When it switches to the interlude part (I feel like a common theme is that I think the best parts of all the songs are the interludes since that's when they can really go wild with all of the different sounds in a good way without being hampered by the vocals bringing them down) that's also really good. Also he starts shouting at the end which might have been meaningful to me if I knew what he was yelling about but instead we got whining robot. No Surprises - I never really noticed the bass part beneath the xylophone and picked guitar but it does a really good job of tying the motif together. Again I can't really tell what the song is about except he says "No Surprises" over and over to make up the chorus (not very lyrically interesting this album is) and "I'll take a quiet life", which could be a contradiction of the earlier message that people who try to live normally are pigs being fattened up for the slaughter? Or maybe the point is that the singer is someone you're not supposed to sympathize with since they made the choice to become a sheep, but empathize with how they've been beaten down by the societal pressures at large? What does the album title mean? OK Computer as in like society wants to turn everyone into unthinking computers all living the same cookie cutter life? I don't know but it might be helpful if I could tell what they were saying 80% of the time. Lucky - The guitar part for this song reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on, maybe something by Tom Petty or Counting Crows? "Pull me out of this something something", the singer whines on but it really pisses me off that I can't tell where I recognize the hook from. It's pretty interesting to say the least that the chorus is so different from the rest of the song, and I wonder if it might have been better if they chose a style that fit better with the rest of the song like they did in the interlude sort of. There are also a lot less machine sounds in this song (at least that I could hear) and the only way you could really tell it was a song on this album was the droning voice of the singer, otherwise I probably couldn't have guessed it was a Radiohead song. The Tourist - Another very Coldplay-ish song, but in a sort of a good way. The simple guitar and drums with a minimal extra accompaniment is a nice denouement to the album, compared to how chaotic a lot of the previous songs have been. Plus, I really like how the simple riff is sort of repeated in different keys along with the harmonies to the vocals. Both sort of combine under the singer's voice to make it much more tolerable in this song. One thing I noticed a lot throughout the album is how they used machine sounds to sort of create a "chanting" effect that was pulled off pretty well, especially in this song, and that too reminds me of something I've heard before (maybe by the Moody Blues or Pink Floyd?), but I can't quite put my finger on it. Final Thoughts: Honestly I hated this album a lot less than I thought I would. Most of the songs were actually quite good and stuff I'd consider listening to again! However, the one thing that really dragged it down for me was the singer's voice, which was so whiny, grating and incomprehensible that it undercut the entire message of the album (since I could barely make out what he was talking about) and ruined a lot of the beautiful soundscapes created by the instruments for me. Because of that, I would have to give this album somewhere between a 3-4/5, depending on how generous I'm feeling at the current moment.

not bad sonically, too whiny, not for me.

Really enjoyed this. Never really listened to Radiohead before. Particularly enjoyed No Surprises.

I’ve discounted Radiohead and never really given them the deep dive. I wasn’t expecting much but this was great. Really ethereal and tensely beautiful music. A lot of the songs are also just great. I really liked Let Down

There is no doubt that it is one of the most important and influential albums of all time. Its departure from the conventional British rock of the era toward a far more experimental and conceptual language is striking. I find it especially important how the album sonically addresses themes such as technological anxiety, consumerism and isolation, very modern traits of an era we still belong to and which the band seemed to envision almost premonitorily. I also highlight the enormous work put into every aspect: every song, every texture, guitar, sound and original structure. They managed to be experimental without losing cohesion or emotional impact, achieving a perfect balance between the organic and the electronic. I also consider it a record that demands attention and multiple listens due to its conceptual and sonic density, almost like returning to observe and examine a painting several times. Its definitive hit is Karma Police, but my favorite song was Exit Music (For a Film).

Their commercial and artistic peak.

An album I knew of as iconic but had never listened to until now. I think it will take several more listens to fully appreciate but based on my inclination to listen more I’m giving it 4 stars. It might grow to 5 over time.

This is pretty great in places. I'm not sure if this is my favorite Radiohead album, or not, but it's certainly a good one.

As a card-carrying member of the Radiohead Sucks Club (RSC), I'm ashamed to admit that this kind of rocks. Far and away their best work. Best Song: Karma Police Rating: 8/10 Stars: 4/5

Switches from despairing to oppressive at the instant flick of a transistor. Surprisingly heavy. Favourite tracks: Paranoid Android, Airbag, National Anthem, Electioneering

its fine

This was a nice, easy one to listen to. Another album where I've enjoyed singles from it for years, but never listened to the full album. I was pleased by how well all the songs fit together and transitioned one to the next. The music feels melancholy, almost aching, with lyrics that are shockingly relevant right now. As AI alienates more people I can see this album's relevance only increasing.

I forgot how many songs I like on this album.

Too much background noise which made it hard for me to focus on the lyrics…but it wasn’t a terrible album.

Radiohead is the band that first nudged me toward more experimental, “out-there” music. OK Computer feels like a leap forward from The Bends - which is already a fantastic record - but this one pushes into something stranger, more layered, more unsettling. The little anecdotes from this era, like Baz Luhrmann approaching them for songs or the wide range of artists taking notice, just show how much their reach had expanded by this point. They weren’t just another rock band anymore, they had become the band everyone wanted to tap into. For all its reputation as a challenging or cerebral album, I find it surprisingly easy to listen to. It flows beautifully, and I can just put it on, chill, and let it carry me along. It’s immersive without being alienating, being a perfect balance of ambition and accessibility.

classic

SUPER 90's vibes, I liked this more than I thought I would.

Moody, dark, and has some really great ballads. Unfortunately doesnt get 5 from me because of a handful of songs that felt like a trudge.

Radiohead are one of my greatest discoveries along this project. I’ve never appreciated or paid much attention to them in the past, but OK Computer, my 6th album of theirs, was a pleasure to listen to.

I used to pretend to like this more than i did because I didn't want to sound thick. I'm actually enjoying it more than then though. Few songs in the middle are a bit of a slog. Kind of hard work at times but very good. Shame Thom Yorke's a zionist freak

I find Radiohead's music to be pretty bloodless, especially post-Kid A/Amnesiac. OK Computer is where they started veering in that direction, but it feels more human to me. I've never been much of a fan, and the hype that followed this album (and the lead up to Kid A) was a turnoff. That said, there's a reason OK Computer is such a landmark, and I found it more enjoyable this time around.

Radiohead is obviously a great band, The Bends is a 5 star album that to me is their best. This is pretty great too with some great songs, particularly Karma Police and Let Down. But I cannot abide the paranoia, which has since seemed to become Radiohead's whole brand. I know it might be a bit lame to say, but I do have this weird take that music should be fun and/or meet and comfort you in your lows, not make you feel exponentially and existentially worse. There are some great songs here that are buried in musical gloom, i.e. Climbing Up the Walls. Check out The Easy Dub All Stars cover version of this record, which is a 5 star album that matches the great songs on here with music that make you feel good rather than suicidal.

Pretty solid

I’ve never been a big fan of Radiohead, I feel like I’ve tried many times to get into them. Using this album to listen to with some good quality headphones as my latest attempt. Airbag was a good opening track, I like how it was more guitar focused. I really enjoyed the track Subterranean Homesick Alien, I can feel myself relistening to this one. Exit Music and Let down were let downs for me, I can’t seem to like that one. Found it super repetitive and wanting to fall asleep. The album picked back up again with Karma Police. This song is very catchy and has some moving lyrics, I know a lot of fans hate it, but it’s one of my favorites by them as a surface level listener despite being somewhat repetitive as well. Not really sure what to think about Fitter Happier, not a fan though. Electioneering has great guitar and I love the cowbell on this track, this song almost sounds like a different band completely. Possibly my favorite one thus far into the listen, reminds me of MUSE. Climbing up the Walls has such a creepy drum sound to it that I really enjoy. This song is a lot slower than the last and doesn’t flow as well as I feel like it should, I almost wish the tracks were swapped in the order of the album, but then again I haven’t listened past this yet. No Surprises gives me sort of a Beatles/Lennon vibe. IMO it would have been a good album closer. Lucky is another creepy track, something with the guitars and this weird droning going on the whole time too, not musically inclined to make it out. But the song you can tell is very well written. The Tourist is another slow album course type of song. Has a little bit of some jazz elements to it, but the song draws out a little too long. Overall, I enjoyed this album front to back a lot more than I thought I would. The B side IMO is a lot stronger than the A Side. The singers voice is sort of whinny, which might be why I’ve never been able to get into them as long as I have. Listening with headphones you could really tell the individual notes and sounds, you could probably listen to this album 100 times and find something new every time. I don’t think I’ll be doing that, but I respect the ones who do. I want to rate this a 3.5, but I’ll give an extra half star for the cult following Radiohead has produced in their career.

Listened to - at the airport waiting to board. Sound - about what I expected it's borderline 3/4. Going with a 4, because I think it'd be better on second listen, but it's definitely a beneficiary of the grading up system.

To this day, Karma Police just makes me think of that Derrick Comedy sketch with Donald Glover screaming. Really solid album. I particularly liked Exit Music, Let Down, Electioneering and The Tourist. Overall great, but I didn't enjoy it as much as In Rainbows. Thom Yorke is still a bit of a cock.

A great album. Some groups churn out the same sound. Radiohead went from a guitar band to experimenting with sound to great affect

👍🏼

So good. They’re much more versatile than you’d think based off their most popular songs. And this album is the epitome of depression.

I do remember the OK Computer bandwagon and I was not on it in 1997. For me, it was the year of Blur, The Fat Of The Land and Dig Your Own Hole. Years later I would come to appreciate The Bends and eventually give this album the appropriate amount of attention. Of course, it is a superb record. While British music in the 90s was in a fantastic place, what was happening with guitar bands was they all suddenly had a hit. Probably a twangy, digestible Britpop hit. But looking back on the era, lots of the Britpop albums were flawed and bogged down with filler, rushed out to capitalise on that hit, and the sudden moment that guitar music became cool. What Radiohead, Blur and a handful of others managed to do was to redefine the album as a format. This was the first era where the CD was established as the king, meaning two 23-minute sides were no longer necessary and artists could play with a full 80 minutes (and lord knows, some of them did), cram multiple B-sides onto their multiple-variation CD singles and really make the most of their studio time. So the best artists made some incredible work and I honestly believe 1997 stands up as one of the finest years for music. First of all, OK Computer is packed with tunes. The big crowd-pleasers such as Paranoid Android, Karma Police and No Surprises deliver their highs, so hidden gems like Subterranean Homesick Alien and Let Down (famously so underrated it became overrated) can knock you out when you least expect it. The album also does an immaculate job with its pacing and ordering, as it feels like they have everything in its right place. Personally, I prefer to listen to The Bends but that album ran so this one could fly.

Really freakin liked this one, even slightly better than *In Rainbows*, definitely my favorite Rh album I've heard. Unless I ever listen to *King of Limbs* and it bowls me over, it should stay that way. 9.4 ★★★★½

An album that has never totally clicked with me, but still great. 4.5 stars

maybe i’m just not smart enough when it comes to music theory to appreciate everything happening here but i just don’t get why THIS is the radiohead album that’s supposed to be totally groundbreaking. with the exception of ‘paranoid android,’ i think it sounds incredibly dated and it always shocks me that other people don’t feel the same way because i think it sounds markedly More dated than their records. it’s interesting to listen to radiohead’s within the context of what other adjacent bands were doing around the same time…for example, "the bends" is very much in keeping with the tradition of other alternative rock bands in britain, but it doesn’t feel dated because it feels perfectly situated in that moment. whereas "ok computer" has the guitar band sound plus some other more interesting and innovative (at the time) electronic intervention, but what made it innovative at the time now sounds 1. not that crazy and 2. awkward alongside the more standard guitar band stuff. my hottest take is that ‘let down’ is TO ME this band at their weakest. this is what radiohead sounds like to people who don’t like radiohead: absolutely boring, self-indulgent dribble. AND IT GOES ON FOR FUCKING EVER. something about the chord progression maybe strikes me as so clichéd. how is this not a totally bog standard 90s alt rock guitar song...? my favorites are ‘climbing up the walls’ and ‘electioneering,’ the latter of which is admittedly a pretty standard guitar rock song so idk what i’m bitching about really. i love that thocking percussion throughout. and ‘climbing up the walls’ is so brilliant and awful, just stomach-churning in the best way. the “kicking squealing gucci little piggy” line in ‘paranoid android’ induces a full-body cringe in me every single time i hear it. i dearly wish he had not included that lyric. otherwise it rips, i can’t lie. fav tracks: electioneering; climbing up the walls; paranoid android; subterranean homesick alien; exit music (for a film); no surprises

britney could do lucky by radiohead but thom yorke couldn't do lucky by britney spears. jk this is a really good album i just wanted to make that joke. at first i had written that i didn't add any more songs to my liked songs than what i had already, but then i relistened to half the album and a lot more grew on me. i feel like there's so much happening on here that it's sort of hard to process in one go. i remember being really blown away the last time i listened to this in full maybe a year ago, so i think that also set me up to be underwhelmed today on my first listen. I also think because I’ve seen Paranoid Android’s composition and structure analyzed in so many different music theory videos, that makes me appreciate its complexity in a way I haven’t been given the opportunity to do for other tracks/albums. Fav tracks: Paranoid Android, No Surprises

My personal favourite radiohead album Favourite song: Paranoid Android

I’m not a huge Radiohead fan, but I recognize their contributions. This is a great album… definitely showcases the creativity and depth of this band the way no album prior to it had. It’s very good.

This is a great album. One of their best ones.

bueno, me dejo con sentimientos encontrados

no surprises probably my favorite radiohead song ever and idc if that’s the basic choice! it’s fucking good! highlights: paranoid android, exit music (for a film), no surprises (april 26 2025)

Radiohead har aldrig varit 100% min grej men OK Computer är ba bra helt enkelt

classic album, gets better the older i get

Ok, some good cuts

It’s radio head man come on this slaps

Alright...I get it. This album is fantastic. There isn't a dull moment. "Paranoid Android" is a work of art. "No Surprises" is great. I wouldn't call their vocalist a GREAT singer, but he fits the vibe for sure. The guitar tones are so fun. "Electioneering" is FANTASTIC. This is a solid 4.5. "Fitter Happier" is garbage and didn't need to be here tho. Liked Songs: "Airbag" , "Paranoid Android" , "Subterranean Homesick Alien" , "Let Down" , "Karma Police" , "Electioneering" , "No Surprises" , "Lucky" , "The Tourist"

Already an album I listen to every year or 2. So moody and intense

Took me a few years to “get” this album. Enjoyable complexity though have to be in mood for York’s vocals at times

I had never been a fan of Radiohead, mainly because I stay clear of over-hyped bands. Not too long ago, I read a book that described the significance and importance of several of their albums and thought I should give them a listen. I was pleasantly surprised I liked OK Computer, it has depth and really hit the right spot musically. I enjoyed their next couple of albums in the early 2000's too and though I don't love the band, they're music has a certain appeal that I'm glad I gave them a chance.

Went into this fully expecting it to be a five star album, but it’s not as consistent as I remember it being. There’s obviously some essential Radiohead songs on here (Karma Police is an all-time great), but I found there was a lot more padding on the album than I remembered and I’m not sure if I’ve just heard it to death or if aspects of the album have dated poorly, but my memories of this album certainly hold up better than my current feelings.

It's a classic for a reason! It's a fantastic album, however I don't think it's Radiohead's best album. I still prefer In Rainbows and Kid A over Ok Computer.

Awesome album.

I didn't know their politics got shitty. I still think it's a well crafted album.

Of the two Radiohead albums I know, this one is far superior to Kid A. OK Computer is loaded with solid tracks from start to finish, and it never really lets up. “Subterranean Homesick Alien” stands out as a really cool nod to Dylan, both in name and attitude. The album as a whole has this moody, futuristic vibe, but it’s still grounded by great songwriting and a lot of emotional punch. Even if you’re not the world’s biggest Radiohead fan, it’s easy to see why this record gets so much praise. Every song feels intentional, and it all holds up years later.

Wonderful album. Takes many a listen and much time BUT is a great journey and once you get into it, is fantastic. Their last really great album to THESE ears and i know that is sacrilege to some. After this they seemed to forget about songs.

It’s been over a year since my last review for a Radiohead album, but today will be my fifth, and ultimately penultimate album of theirs to review. So far, I’ve given four stars to Kid A, In Rainbows, and Hail to the Thief, but The Bends has easily been my favorite Radiohead album so far, and the only one of theirs to get five stars from me. It looks like OK Computer is their highest rated album on this list, and I know its sound is closer to The Bends than any of their other work, so I’m really excited to listen to this. This will be the only Radiohead album that I know songs off of before listening to it, so that adds to the excitement some as well. I didn’t fall in love with OK Computer, but I thought it was just as good as every Radiohead album not named The Bends that I’ve listened to so far. Just like other Radiohead albums, I really enjoyed Thom Yorke’s vocals, although his singing felt a lot more mumbling on this album. Also, I just realized today that Matthew Bellamy from Muse sounds quite similar to Thom Yorke in terms of his falsetto singing style. Interesting. Radiohead does such a great job of creating beautifully complicated arrangements, and that skill was on full display on OK Computer. Having heard both The Bends and Kid A, I thought OK Computer built a really interesting bridge between those two albums, and a really interesting Bridge from Radiohead’s guitar rock sound to the more experimental sound. I figured this album’s lyrics would probably fall into the themes of technology and society, and my hunch was definitely correct. OK Computer’s lyrics have aged incredibly well, and they feel just as relevant during today’s AI revolution as they did during the internet revolution of the nineties. As far as my favorite songs on this album are concerned, I really enjoyed “Paranoid Android,” “Subterranean Homesick Alien,” “Let Down,” “Karma Police,” and “Electioneering.” “Paranoid Android” took me a couple of listens to appreciate, but I enjoyed that there were so many musical elements that came and went throughout the course of the song. I loved how each of those elements took a turn at the same chord progression, but my favorite were the chimes towards the beginning of the song. “Subterranean Homesick Alien” was really great too. It had a very ethereal and otherworldly quality to its sound that created a fantastic atmosphere, and I thought the shimmering guitar playing was fantastic. While The Bends wasn’t supplanted as my favorite Radiohead album, I still thought OK Computer was really good, and it managed to blend ‘guitar rock Radiohead’ and ‘experimental Radiohead’ in a way that was really fun and interesting.

Good album, engaging. Great guitar work and vocals. Probably my 2nd favorite Radiohead album after The Bends

Once again, Thom Yorke knows how to make an album, not just a sequence of songs. It flows together seamlessly, it hits really interesting musical ideas. It's catchy. Just another solid album.

sehr nice! wird mit de zit biiz langwiirig und isch teils chli lärmig. aber ich find d musig sehr spannend zum lose, sowohl wenn me gnau anelost, als au als hintergrundmusig. exit music (for a film) isch min lieblingssong vo dem album und ghört au generell zu mine favorites. ich liebs dass si de passus duriusculus i dem song iibaut hend!

Este disco me gusto mucho, algunos temas se extienden un poco, pero suena tan bien que se vuelve disfrutable. En lo personal no supera a the bends o in rainbows

Quite good. I can't believe I'm a Radiohead enjoyer now. Extra +0.5 just for No Surprises

Sometimes I have to be in a Radiohead mood to listen to them. But this album was great regardless

Ok, great album. Heard it a few times before but it always grows on me. Desperately want it to be a concept album but I haven't developed any theories. Fav song, Exit Music, followed by electioneering.

Honestly thought this would be better, 3.5/5

I think I liked this better than The Bends. Seems so much more experimental and almost ethereal.

paranoid ... düdeldüdeldü

Massively preferred this to Hail To The Thief to the extent I'd say I actually quite enjoyed it?

The bends is better

Pretty good

Better than Coldplay

This is a fantastic album. It does some really unique things sonically speaking.

From raucous to dreamy and downright beautiful songs, the replay value is endless. This album takes you on an emotional trip from track to track. Musically, it’s tough to top. Goes from structured and veers into improved tangents. Yorke’s vocals takes a minute to get used to, swinging from pained to somewhat hopeful. “Karma Police” “Subterranean” are the most well known tracks but the stand out is “Let Down”; just a beautifully crafted song that musically is gorgeous. When the singularity comes, this should be the soundtrack for our robot overlords.

Yeh I'm never coming back here but still has some of the songs. High 4

I supposed I’m unlikely to ever be blown away by a Radiohead album. I know that people adore this band, but I’ve never really understood the fuss. I’d definitely agree that this is a good album, but it doesn’t sound like anything revolutionary to me. If I went into a record store and this was playing, I’d be more likely to think, “Huh, decent album” than anything else. I’m well aware that people love this, but it just doesn’t click like that for me.

Feels like a couple of my recent albums have toed the line between 3 and 4 stars for me, and every time I’ve ultimately leaned toward 4. I think my hesitation has to do with re-listen value; save for homesick alien there’s very little I’d sample from this album a la carte. But I have also an unequivocal sense I’m listening to something really deliberate and polished, a project more expansive than mere metrics like re-listen value can grasp. Maybe I’m talking about production, or maybe I’m talking about soul—whatever it is, it pushes this inexplicably into higher-star territory.

Great band great album. Can definitely hear how this inspired the guy from Muse.

Radio....see what's missing? Imma need some of that oh yeah baby love this vibe

Radiohead again. The album was okay. Stable rock album.

Classikkojen classikko!

classic albulm

Subverted expectations of rock

Such a classic. Fave song: No Surprises

Such a classic Fave song: No Surprises

I've really liked the Bends for a long time. It's just a good rock album, so I always skipped this because I was just ok with knowing Radiohead in that way. But this is as good as people say it is. I was ready to let Radiohead be Radiohead.

4.5. Some absolutely spectacular tracks on here, but a couple that wander too aimlessly and get either boring or abrasive...or both. This is the first time I've really listened to this critically even though I've been reasonably familiar with most of it for years.

Well, there is just a lot of bias for me and this album. I don't know what to say because my perception is clouded by nostalgia. This is not my personal favorite Radiohead album, but I know it is a classic and probably their best album. It does have my favorite song on it, so there is that. I think this is probably where Radiohead finally really came together and actualized what they were good at, but before they got so popular that no one was willing to hold them back and keep them focused on the gold. I don't know. Like I said, I have complicated emotions listening to this album. Suddenly, I am back in high school, which is some of the weirdest years of my life, and I don't know if I can fully untangle the emotions of that time with the tracks. No alarms, no surprises.

Knob twiddling noodlage at its finest.

Renee's review nails it.

There is absolutely an excellent album here. And a bunch of other stuff.

Solid but sleepy. Not my favorite

c: let down

I love this album. I really do. But I don't think it is Radiohead's best. I think this title belongs to In Rainbows, mainly because it is more emotional to me. After In Rainbows, it comes this album, which presents some of their best songs ever, such as Paranoid Android, Karma Police, Exit Music (for a Film), Let Down or No surprises. The rest of the tracks are also very good, showing how creative the group is, but I don' t think they keep up the level of the bests songs , specially 'Electioneering'. Still, this album is very consistent, ambitious and a great experience.

It's good, it's just not for me today

I’ve been scared of starting a Radiohead project because I’ve heard nothing but raving reviews though personally don’t really enjoy 90s rock. This kicks ass. Paranoid android is hauntingly beautiful, exist music is incredible, no surprises was familiar but nice to hear in the sequencing. I guess I’ll finally check out Kid A and In Rainbows.

Beautiful

I've dabbled in some RadioHead - but not enough to truly hold my own in a conversation. This is a rock solid album that absolutely lives up to the hype. Really current, holds up beyond well....you could've told me this came out in 25' and i'd believe you. Really edgy and just a super solid album. Love that i'm experiencing it for the first time at ~33 years old. But wow - this would've been absolutely electric for me in High school. I can totally see myself standing at the bus stop at 730AM waiting to start my day with just some epic vibes. I'd get on the bus and show my friend my iPod and this 'new radiohead album' i just found. It's just so funny how it missed me - huge music lover. And yet here we are - reminiscing about a moment in time that should've and could've been - but never was.

Well done

i kind of struggle listening to this album because it is so widely esteemed. i'm not a huge radiohead guy, i've never really listened to them outside of this project, but i know how highly regarded they are. for that reason, it's always a little hard to listen to them because their music is held to such high standards. there are parts of this album where i totally see where people are coming from. absolutely fantastic stuff. there's also stuff here that, while not bad, is a little on the boring side and i think people excuse it because of the peaks. for me, my favorite parts are the parts where this album builds to an explosion, a cacophony. the more quiet parts are a lot more forgettable. don't get me wrong, i still had a nice time listening to this one! but i don't know if i get it like most people seem to.

There was a good chunk of this album where I just forgot why my original review was "Good 90s sad boy art rock, sounds good, but I can never take 90s sad boy shit seriously." This is a great album, why couldn't I take it seriously? Then came "Fitter Happier", and that audio rendition of Fight Club reminded me why immediately. They just didn't have problems in the 90s, did they? Oh no, guys well off, healthy and happy, what a pig in a cage. Yawn, boring, next, 4 stars though the rest is great.

Has some fantastic tracks and is worth a listen. A lot of this album makes me think of waves with the good production and great instrumentation

Wow, a late 90s British alt rock album that actually makes sense to be on this list!!! What a novel idea! This is a good album. It brings together analog and electronic elements in a way that feels very natural and pretty but also feels pretty interesting and, I have to imagine, exciting for 1997. There are so many different layers and elements to notice on each song, I understand why many people love this album so much. My favorite songs were "Let Down" and "No Surprises". I'm a little torn on how to rate this album because I certainly do like it, but I appreciate the artistic accomplishment of it slightly more than I actually enjoy it, I think. There have been a lot of albums recently that I would give 3.5 stars if I could and this is another one, but I would have no qualms with listening to this again in the future and surely will at some point, so by my own rating system that's a 4.

Holds very special memories for me...Zoe, it was grand!

I really enjoy listening to this album. Karma Police is probably my fav track -- this is what you get when you mess with us. Solid from start to finish. Layered. Melodic

This album will hit at the right time. Not every song is a banger, but a lot are

Fucking elsker Radiohead, et næsten perfekt album

Bloody good album. Very diverse and very versatile. Love 'No surprises' and Karma Police. Radiohead never disappoints.

בין הדברים הבודדים שאני אוהב בשנות ה-90

Fantastic record. Not my favorite one of theirs, but fantastic nonetheless. I saw them live in Japan and they were awesome!

Ok, so this is the one Radiohead album you must listen to. I actually prefer punch brothers take on the title track, done as it is with unaffected acoustic instruments. But Radiohead were deeply important for a bit and after this they fade a bit. That doesn’t detract from this album. 4 stars.

I’d never heard any of this before except “karma police” but thought it was really impressive. All the tracks had some thing cool to offer even if not all my personal taste. The only one I truly didn’t like was the talking robot/computer one but I totally get what it was included. Really great guitar playing throughout too. More time with this probably gets it to a 5 for me.

Great album. “Paranoid Android” is a masterpiece. A few low spots, but overshadowed by stellar writing with many superb tracks.

Though a bit overrated, really gives the indie-alt rock feel

It's been a while since I listened to this whole album. It was great when I bought it and is still great. Shout out to Marvin the Paranoid Android, or is he just morose?

Hey, it’s good.

What is a radio head?

When this album is good it’s excellent. Can easily see why it’s so highly regarded. BUT, the boring low points are such a slog.

In the early 2000’s, when I was in my early 20’s, I bought into the idea that Radiohead was the most important band around, that they were the most inventive and innovative band going, that they were re-writing the rules and that everything they did was important. Well, for about 4 or 5 months or so, I did. Concurrently, I was listening to bands that might be considered peers (Stereolab, Tortoise, Pavement) or influences (Can, Neu!, Sonic Youth). Then, I started gravitating towards those bands and away from Radiohead. In fact, it was when I started listening to Can that I was like, “Why am I bothering with Radiohead? I found the source and they are so fucking good that I’m not really interested in what Radiohead has to say anymore.” It happens. My friends think I’m this anti-Radiohead curmudgeon and I just hate them because everyone likes them, which isn’t true, I don’t hate Radiohead. I just don’t buy into the commonly held beliefs about them that inspire hyperbolic praise from many people and I think it’s worthwhile to question the commonly held narratives about the band. My friends will say things to me like “come on, even you can admit OK Computer (or Kid A) is one of the best albums of all time.” It’s not an album I would put on my list of 10 greatest albums of all time, but I do think it’s a great album. I’d like to reiterate: I think OK Computer is a great album. Does it resonate with me in the same way that “Tago Mago” and “Future Days” or “Daydream Nation” or “Dots and Loops” do? No. It’s kind of like this: I went through that door (Radiohead), had a good look around, then walked out and found things that spoke to me in a much deeper way than Radiohead ever did. I have a hard time accepting that they’re the be-all-end-all when the bands that influenced them made such great, timeless and truly innovative music. I just don’t seem them on that level, sorry. …and just for the sake of adhering to the rule of three’s…I think OK Computer is a great album. I enjoy it, even if I think it would be even better if they cut the last two tracks and ended with “No Surprises”. You know I’m right about that last point, it’s ok to admit it.

I have a friend that I once asked, "If you had to listen to one artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?". His answer was Radiohead. I've asked people this in the past when I want some random artist to do a deep dive on. Radiohead is a band that I had known about, but never really dug into prior. OK Computer and The Bends turned out to be absolute gems, with the rest of the earlier discography not disappointing at all. Great album, great group.
