Very good album. Lots of memorable songs but some filler. Stand out song - No Surprises
Lots of great stuff but doesn't fully do it for me. Unlike In Rainbows <3
Can't recall it three days later, but wasn't bad.
got the cd

Pretty nice.
Very musical, and there are some definitive bangers here. Maybe a bit too noisy for the background listening.
Some great songs on here, but still a bit too much filler.
GreaT!
Loved this album. Really not a bad song on it
Definitely better than the other albums of theirs we’ve had, but there was no hook for me to remember yesterday’s songs; this is not my preferred style or time period of music.
✋Absolute Cinema🤚 I’m surprised I haven’t listened to this album sooner 4.7
Radiohead was in a weird spot in their young trajectory when it came to record OK Computer, they had two choices either go pop with material like Lift that only got live outings in the bends tour before being tossed aside, I think the band took the right choice on doing something that was unique for its time, but gave an entry point for Coldplay What can be said about Ok Computer that hasnt been said? I like how it ends with a slow down idiot and starts with a car crash it gives it an element of replayability that is a stroke of genious. 9/10 I dont like Fitter Happier -------------------------------------------- Tom York lives in a society https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTlZsyas-eI
9/10 Blerrghhhhhhhhhhhhhh I’ve had to sit with this album being heralded as the Bible for music nerds for several years, either from it dominating the charts since 2000 on RYM (until TPAB) to seeing it everywhere on memes and publications, and now most songs are TikTok hits which makes this album inescapable. I really don’t care if you think it’s overrated, its reputation is beyond contrarianism or difference in taste, and I don’t really care if you think it’s the greatest thing ever made, it’s a bit like calling 2001: A Space Odyssey your favorite movie, I don’t really need to ask why. I am admittedly a sort of closeted Radiohead fan, I don’t talk about Radiohead unless its brought up, I find a lot of Radiohead fans annoying to an excruciating degree, and still find some of their praise and albums to he overblown and pretentious. But when Radiohead is at their best, it’s quite obvious why people won’t shut the fuck up about them. The main problem is that this album is absurdly good, phenomenal songwriting, concepts, performances, and production. For an album from 1997, it’s shockingly relevant today, even if we see its Y2K digital alarmism to be pretentious or coincidental, we can’t shy away from how unfortunately predictive it was, I’m not gonna keep up this bullshit that this album doesn’t have insane shit on it, from the opening “Airbag” which depicts the surreal transcendental exhilaration of surviving a car crash, the 3 act insanity of “Paranoid Android”, the cripplingly dark atmosphere of “Climbing Up the Walls”, or the choked up melody of “No Surprises”. It’s not the greatest album ever made, but when too many people see it as great, it’s hard to hide from it. https://youtu.be/pE3faY7VLck?si=_h6m8sTdc-fo-lq6
Excellent album: artistic, musically accomplished, melodic, complex, thoughtful and driven. It just gets a tiny bit too intense for me to give 5 stars. It's my age. Sadly I struggle to engage properly with anything with this much artistic depth, now, unless I already knew it as a younger person. So there were moments where I felt lost. It's really good, though.
I do like the Radiohead feel.
Yes
Already familiar with this album. Funny thing is I hated it when it came out and I thought Radiohead was overrated. Years later I revisited the album and loved it. Funny how music taste changes over time.
Pretty good, 3.9/5
Actually really enjoyed
Love the second half of this album
This would be a 5 if they could have used a WellSaid voice for Fitter Happier. No surprises was incredible, but ridiculously sad like most of the album.
Pretty good
More moody wailing from Radiohead. Credit to them, they make it sound good but I don't see exactly what makes this album so incredibly acclaimed. Favorites: No Surprises, Lucky
Well i’m biased as hell because this was one of my favourite records when i was 13 and i haven’t enjoyed music quite like that ever since. It gets old after awhile but still some of the songs like Let Down or The Tourist are still affecting for me. Fitter Happier is one reason for downvote it felt like a cheesy idea even when i was an adolescent.
One of my biggest surprises of this project is how much I like Radiohead lol
Very solid but some tracks drag on a bit
Most of the songs I knew but still nice to hear in its entirety. Sometimes surprisingly similar sounding to coldplay
Loved the hits, but the deeper cuts weren't really doing it for me. Might have to give this one another listen. 4/5
Good, but not my taste. I used to enjoy this album and band, but I can't get behind it as much. Ask me 5 years ago, I'd say this is a 5.
I liked the cohesiveness of the album and some really good guitar riffs in it
I like. 4/5
Forgot how good this album was. We used to make collages in High School with this album on heavy rotation. Good mems.
Karma Police; would listen to again Going to listen to the rest, but it's probably a bop. Radiohead is so good!
Everything….in its right place.
Karma Police, No Surprises!!! 💯
I'm incredibly sad to admit that I've come off of this album in the years since I first listened to it. It's no doubt one of the best, most revolutionary and subversive rock albums of all time, but I just don't feel it the way I used to. I wouldn't say my music taste has "evolved" per se - I've just come to value different things in music. I'm giving this album four stars because of the historical significance it has had it converting me into a fan of music. The music from Jet Set Radio piqued my interest, the soundtrack to FLCL sustained that interest and OK Computer was the one tipped me over. I can't imagine there being an album to do that job better than this one. All that being said, I've been slowburning my way through the OK Computer minidiscs over the past couple of months and have come away with a newfound appreciation for what this album does. There may be a second wave of enjoyment for me sometime in the future.
Great first half. Last half not as much.
Solid album. Not the biggest fan of Radiohead but the album was a great listen. I understand why people really enjoy this album. Sounds great and layered really well.
Good rock music and the singer has an interesting voice. I really like a lot of the songs.
I couldn’t have named a Radiohead song but I recognised a couple of tracks and liked the album overall. High 3/low 4, rounding up.
I'm in the minority here. Probably greatly. Radiohead has some great songs. Three of them are on here. It is an objectively grand album but I don't really care for Radiohead. I've always been sort of annoyed by them on the whole with songs here and there I really like. I'm giving it four stars because I'm aware the issue is one of personal taste.
Great songs.
Bangers. No concept of how groundbreaking it was at the time but everything on it still holds up
I know this will be controversial but this album isn't the classic everyone else thinks it is. It is quite good and I like the overall theme, even if listening to it on my commute to work this week hit a little too hard (especially "Fitter Happier"). The ending to "Exit Music" caught me upon this listen but the song doesn't quite grab you up front to get you to the excellent full assault at the end. My favorite track on this one is "No Surprises". It is just a beautiful melody and sound that is delivered excellently. So this is a really good album but I can think of 3 or maybe even 4 Radiohead albums that are better than this one in my opinion. Really good but not a classic.
Karma PD!
Would listen again. No Surprises is on this one
85% Best: Paranoid Android; Exit Music (For A Film); Karma Police; Climbing Up the Walls; No Surprises; Lucky Must-Hear? Sure. Not the greatest album ever, like it's made out to be, but it's still fantastic
Muy bueno, necesito reescucharlo. 83
Will listen again
There were a few great songs but also half a dozen average ones so not a great album.
More boring than it’s groundbreaking reputation
4.2

I really enjoyed this album. And I think a key part of it was how I listened to it. AirPods in, in an unhappy mood. It was a perfect tone. A great mix of ambient and rock adjacent sounds. My favorite songs were Karma Police and Exit Music for a Film. I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it if I was in a different mood, but for how I felt it was perfect
Solid album but way overhyped. Highlights: "Paranoid Android" (interesting song, cool guitar riff in first part), "Let Down" (most Bends-like song on the album with chiming guitars), "Karma Police" (I like the piano throughout the song, catchy melody), "Electioneering" (sounds like late 60s/early 70s song, especially guitar riff and fuzzy production), "No Surprises" (music box chiming is cool) Notable: "Climbing Up the Walls" (creepy atmosphere)
Musically very good, thematically ahead of it's time. However I never did and still can't connect with Yorke's vocals/singing style which is why I think I never quite connected with this band. Gave it a few listens, and it get's stronger towards the end for me, last 3 songs are very good.
Is it just me or have the Radiohead albums i have been doing lately been getting really relaxing. Just like In Rainbows, OK Computer is a really relaxing one with more of a focus on guitars and other instruments as opposed to the electronic sounds from In Rainbows. And i have to say, this style does sound really good and is executed very well here. I also like how the typical Radiohead weirdness actually got it's start here when it came to the music by incorporating quite a bit more electronic sounds. There are Radiohead albums i like more than this one but this is still a really good album. Best Song: Electioneering Worst Song: Let Down
This is the fourth Radiohead album I've gotten so far. That seems a little excessive. Nevertheless, this is a good example of their work. Impeccable performances and songwriting about lonliness and alienation. But they all are, so I'm not sure why we're getting so much Radiohead. Pick a favorite or two and let's spend more time exploring other music than late 20th/early 21st century indie rock.
I can see why some people this this is dreary and his voice is moany but these guys are amazing to me. I dont love their earlier stuff and this is near the beginning but it only gets better from here. Still love it.
Pretty good album. Best tracks: "Electioneering", "No Surprises", "Airbag".
Really great album. All the tracks are solid with some real standouts. 4.5.
Dear Coldplay, this is how you do it correctly. In my head this isn't a perfect album, there's a few tracks that miss for me but Paranoid Android is a solid 9/10 a long with the 2 bigger singles.
My second favourite Radiohead album
Lyrics great Sonically really great. Rich and interesting Really like 'Let Down' & 'Electioneering', 'No Surprises' Didn't think I'd like it as much as I did with limited Radiohead exposure/familiarity. 4/5
Moody and sonically appealing. I always thought this album was overrated, which I still agree with but I'm starting to figure out why people like it so much.
So many different types of songs, and all sorts of excellent individual musicianship. Thom Yorke can wear on you after an hour, but a solid 4 stars.
Solid album
Paranoid android
Classic listened to it a lot of times tho
Masterful but - unlike most people my age it seems - to my mind not Radiohead's masterpiece. It's great, I just don't want to listen to it very often as it's too depressing.
Pretty nice!
Tough one. I enjoyed this album in it's entirety when it came out, but now it feels a little disjointed. I still love it, but to me not as good album as The Bends.
4 alto.
- favs: paranoid android, exit music and karma police This album probably altered my 13 year olds brain chemistry. I was very amazed when I first listened to this and I still am! Very big fan of Radiohead’s music and you can not deny their huge impact on music industry! OVERALL: 4/5
~2nd time listening standout tracks: - paranoid android - karma police - electioneering what if i told you the rest of the tracks are kinda eh? airbag and no surprises stood out. Nothing deserving of a skip except maybe the healthier happier kind of interlude track?
no cause it's a 4.5, the only reason it's at 4 is because I preferred Kid A
3.5, drags on a bit at times but overall nice
Very sad and depressing album, which is ok because they pull it off so well. Tackles so many themes on the impact of technology over humans. Some fantastic tracks, but not as good as their masterpiece, In Rainbows
Great Album
I remember liking this album more. I still liked it but it wasn't the 5 I remember it bring.
It sounded like one long radio head song
A classic, but some weird ones
Very nice.
Yeah it's OK Computer. Not listened to this all the way through in years. It's clearly great but doesn't impact on me the way it does some people. Never been a Radiohead-head, but these days being a Radiohead-hater is far far more annoying.
I appreciate how good this is, and how accomplished. However, it’s Radiohead so it’s depressing. It didn’t help that I listened to it while driving in a heavy fog/rain, at night, as the seasons are turning into a very damp autumn, but holy Jebus the melancholy is thick. I’ll give it another listen (probably many more), but the way it made me feel makes me reluctant to give it 5 stars.
I think this is one that I need more listens to form a full opinion, but initial thoughts are solid
First one I've heard before! What a masterpiece. That being said, it maybe didn't hit as hard as it did when I was a teenager! My taste has gotten less angst in lyrics and more angst in sound so the chill vibes left.me wanting more!
This is a solid album that’s a good bridge between alt rock Radiohead of the bends/pablo honey and the deep beep boop stuff. I can’t seem to get into Radiohead as a whole and I realized as I was listening to this album that it’s because of Thom Yorkes voice and singing style. I hate it. The moany, pitch-changing, falsetto wailing is insufferable. I can’t even tell what he’s saying bc he draws out every other word for 10 seconds.
Everytime i listen to radiohead i say “man, i should really listen to more radiohead” then i don’t.
Solid. I enjoyed it. Unique sound, some very memorable riffs.
Very good album and considered by some to be the greatest album of all time. I don't necessarily agree with that, but I do wish I had been paying attention to music when this came out so that I could have seen the effect that it had on rock music.
Probably my favorite Radiohead album at this time. Sounds fantastic and dripping with emotion.
This is a groundbreaking album that was ahead of its time, and a significant shift in the band's direction from their previous work. It may require multiple listens to fully appreciate. I highly recommend giving it a chance and listening to it more than once to fully absorb it before you completely write it off.
Fan of the experimental music and can hear how this has influenced other popular bands.
It was a good album overall but not necessarily my vibe.
Revolutionary
Vaikea sanoa kumpi on parempi, tämä vai In Rainbows. Kummiskin tällä levyllä on monta kappaletta josta paljon pidän. Parhaat: Exit Music (For A Film), Let Down, Karma Police, No Surprises.
the album after which things start to go downhill for Radiohead
Song to come back for: No Suprises, Marma Poloce (maybe)
This is one of those that I like most of the songs, but I this may have been only the second or third time I listened to the entire thing all the way through. I like it, but sometimes there is too much of a good thing in a short period of time.
One of the most classic 90’s album. A huge feat in musicality and ambition
great album, love their sound.
Turns out I quite like radiohead, this is a surprise to me. This is one of the weaker albums but still pretty solid
Sept. 16, 2024 I've never listened to Radiohead besides their popular songs (I assume, I don't think I could name one anyway), but I can tell I will like this one already based off of the first one. Okay 3rd song in and I'm bored. It's good, I think I would've liked it more if I were younger idk how to explain that. 4/5
I really dig it. I got into Radiohead in the first place because of Karma Police
It isn't hard to see why some consider this a masterpiece but it probably doesn't reach the pedestal some claim to place it upon. Damn close though.
already listened 9/10
I've heard about half the album before. Some great songs here like Paranoid Android, Karma Police, No Surprises and Lucky. Subterranean Homesick Alien was new to me and I really enjoyed it. I can do without Fitter Happier.
I like it, will listen again
b̶l̶a̶c̶k̶ m̶i̶r̶r̶o̶r̶ OK computer is written by one stoned british dude who just mutters shit like wot if ya mum ran on batteries
1. airbag - 1 2. android - 1.5 3. alien - 1 4. ezit - 5 5. douun - 1.5 6. karma - 4 7. happier - 1 8. election - 1 9. uuallz - 1 10. zurprizez - 2 11. lucky - 1.5 12. tourizt - 2
Bought this album in early 2000s, hoping that it would be like Pablo Honey, containing another Creep... This is what I got... Karma Police in my head all day! With time, my appreciation for the album sure has increased, but it would be nice if we'd be a little more "chipper" or "up-beat" every now and again... even a Blues album gives you something to smile about. 4*
It’s a good album but is it as good as the Bends, eh No; however still better than a 3
So good!
My 50th album! A pretty minor milestone when looking at the long road ahead, but it's still satisfying. ...oh, the album? It's pretty great - OK, even. Massively overrated if we're really saying this is one of the best of all time, though.
The bends is better
Good
7/10 - it was pretty good but I feel like I don’t get all of the Radiohead hype. I mean it’s pretty good but maybe I’m missing something
Overall pretty decent album just a few dull spots bringing it down to four stars
I’ve never fully understood why this album is always considered one of the best ever. That being said, it is very good and ‘No Surprises’ is excellent.
Nice
If I’d been shown this record without any context I certainly would’ve guessed it was Muse. There’re some moments with serious shredding (Paranoid Android, Electioneering, Climbing Up the Walls) and ethereal space-shippy vocals. Yet there’s also a gentleness that acts as a strong contradictory point to the more bombastic sections. The electronic production falls in seamlessly next to the more traditional rock elements. Definitely understand how this one earned its legendary status. Listened to: walking along Joes Pond. Favorite tracks: Paranoid Android, Karma Police, Climbing up the Walls
This album was good, especially the singles (Karma Police and No Surprises). I didn't feel like this album took as many risks as other Radiohead albums we've heard in this project, but it's one of their earlier works and is from 1997, so that may be a factor. The spoken word "Fitter Happier" track was pretty jarring to the album flow for me, but didn't detract too much from the overall album.
Really liked it, would have liked it more if I understood more than a handful of the lyrics (granted, I have audio processing issues, so might just be me.)
Without looking, I'd say this album is right after the Bends and before Kid A. Mainly because it sounds like a bit of both albums. I actually thoroughly enjoyed this record. To me, this is the start of Radiohead getting more experimental and/or weirder. Some of Thom Yorkers sustained note singing is a little annoying... But he's such a great lyricist and he creates interesting melodies. His voice is just a bit... Bleh. But I still like it. I will keep trying to get into Radiohead.
Pretty sure I thought some of these songs were by Keane. My dads favourite Radiohead album, I quite enjoyed it tbh
Percebi mt das bandas que eles influenciaram
I'm still unsure about Radiohead, but I know a banger when I hear it.
I’ve always liked Radiohead but have not given the albums the time to really click with me and blow me away… that said I think this is the most I’ve ever enjoyed it! It’s truly incredible rock music with very special attention paid to unique textures that add to its world-building and monumental status
There are a few songs on here that I think are true greats. But I’ve never fully emotionally attached to this album above other Radiohead works. Anyway, love your review and love you Sameen ❤️
It was a bit slow to start, and I'm still not crazy of Thom's vocals, but the last 2/3 or so of the album were pretty great. Fun hopping between styles with lots of cool effects subtly added in.
I have heard so much about this album leading up to this. I’ve heard so much praise and so much love that it was hard to know if I could believe that the hype was real and I could buy into it. I’ve seen it ranked as the greatest album of all time, or one of them. I’ve heard fanboys and music critics alike absolutely gush about this album. People cannot get enough of it. So what did I think? It was great. What else am I supposed to say? What can I say? This feels a little like Sgt. Pepper where everyone has said everything that can be said about it. It’s difficult to come up with something original to say without sounding cliche. The difference between this and Sgt. Pepper, at least for me, is that I’ve heard this album once and Pepper multiple hundreds of times. I had no attachment to this album outside of the few tracks I already knew and so came at this a little more objectively. Here are my general thoughts. One listen isn’t enough. For multiple reasons. For one, I can’t hardly understand most of what Thom Yorke is fucking saying. All the long, drawn out words sometimes blend into each other and become one long sound instead of individual words. It’s actually kind of annoying. So another listen is required purely to pick up on the lyrics, preferably while reading along. But then another listen is necessary because, from what I’ve read, this is an album with very meaningful lyrics that reflect themes of isolation and loneliness, none of which I picked up on. So it needs another listen there. But what about the music? Shit, man. It was great. One word I’d use to describe the feel of this album is dread. Another is confusion. Regardless of what the lyrics say, the music itself really drives home its own themes that are present throughout most of the record. That alone earns praise from me because oftentimes a band has either good lyrics and mediocre music or good music and mediocre lyrics. Even great bands suffer from this. But this album, like a lot of Radiohead’s work, has both. So major props there. I want to give this five stars, but without really understanding the album and meeting it in the middle, I don’t think I can. One day I’m sure I will. But four stars for now. Standout Tracks: (Literally all of them but three, so I’ll list those because that’s easier: Subterranean Homesick Alien, Let Down, Fitter Happier)
Not much to say. Solid pop record.
Couple of great tunes here to lift it out of the 3-star doldrums.
When Radiohead found their sound. Too bad 30% of this album sounds like the stuff before it.
Much, much better than In Rainbows and Amnesiac. My opinion of Radiohead would be very different if I heard this first.
I'm much less familiar with this Radiohead, but I've heard OK Computer a few times. While I prefer just about every album that came out after this one, I do feel this is where they really came into their own. Their albums preceding this are relatively boring and a bit of a slog. It's nice to revisit this one, but it's still not the one I gravitate towards when I want to listen to Radiohead.
I remember when this came out thinking it was good, but I preferred The Bends. I haven't heard it in ages, and it was better than I thought. It's all strong and the last track The Tourist is excellent. I listened to The Bends afterwards and I still prefer it. I guess OK Computer was the album where they began turning away from more mainstream fans like me and were embracing the more miserable and abstract side of their natures - actively rejecting the more commercial sound. Fair play to them. Although they lost me eventually I'd rather a band did this than became Coldplay.
Good but iss no Kid A
76/100
Head music back at it. This one has a smattering of songs that are both cool and gloomy. Cloomy. I like da bendz, rainbows, and the kid one more. I think Karma Police was the first Radiohead song that I ever digested, being on the NOW 1 CD that we would take camping in the 90s.
It's a pretty solid album through and through - a few weird tracks that are just too weird.
Such a banger
Band is awesome and the album has an amazing sound. Have only listened to it a few times now but this could be 5 star material. 4.5 stars for now
4.4
Excellent album
Classic album, with many good songs. Doesn't quite have the flow I look for in a 5/5 album, but still a very solid album.
Apex of early Radiohead. Strong if overfamiliar.
A real banger. By happenstance I did two Radiohead albums within a few days of each other, and I had a great time with both of them. This one started out incredibly strong and didn't quite maintain that momentum the entire time. But I loved it.
[in the voice of someone who is fatigued from having been given five Radiohead albums on this list so far] This is the best one
Classic! Haven't listened to it in a while but it was great to get reacquainted. Love how they can go from a very somber dark quiet sound to energized and rocking several times throughout the album.
Lots of really cool alternative rock ideas on this record. Did not capture my imagination or attention in the way I had thought it would, given the mythical acclaim this album holds, but I still enjoyed it.
There are several records in this list that I can judge immediately after listening to, but this is one of those records that requires multiple listening to make an accurate judgment. There is a lot here to enjoy and overall, I would rate it between three and four. The music and lyrics I give high marks, but Thom Yorke's vocals can be a touch whiney and sing-song but even with that, I would listen again.
As much as i struggle with Radiohead, this album is great.
8/10
OKC is not as good as Kid A. The themes are similar, but Kid A’s desolate electronic sound is just far more engaging to me. That being said, I can’t judge this album based on other work, so I’ll give this album a fair treatment. OKC is fantastic. Maybe not quite as good as most music nerds will say, but it hits nearly every beat that it is trying to and the band’s performance/Thom’s writing is some of the best they’ll do in their career. I can’t say anything about this album that hasn’t already been said. It’s amazing (obviously)
Okay, I’ll admit it. I’ve never listened to OK Computer before this. Obviously I’ve heard about it, and heard about it, and heard about it, and While I’ve never sat down and listened to this album before, I’ve enjoyed a lot of remixes and mashups using songs from it and have otherwise heard the songs just from existing online and liking related genres. The best pop song mashups always include either Radiohead or Björk). At some point it just had to be overhyped and overrated. And considering just how -hyped and -rated it has been in the music spaces online I’ve occupied, it surely is. But, unfortunately, it also rules tremendously. Sorry :( I think it would get better with repeated listening and I didn’t like the song with the robot voice so I’m giving it 4/5. I will probably return to this album and unfortunately I can see myself rating this 5/5 in the future. Hard to pick a standout song because it works as a complete work so well (which is something I value in these ratings, if you haven’t noticed). If I had a chance to listen to it a second time, I’m sure I could pick out some standouts. I’ll say Subterranean Homesick Alien for now because that was when I first said to myself “oh no, this rules”
Solid album, but this isn't the best album of all time. Sorry, depressed millennials.
Its a nice one album, is seems like Muse singer with a soft band
Solid
Controversial unpopular opinion...for me I have never really understood the appeal of Radiohead. Nothing is bad about them but there is also nothing stellar to me so I went deep on this album, listened to it multiple times, read the lyrics along with the music, without the music and read numerous breakdowns, reviews and abouts the album. By immersing myself in it, I understand the appeal and it is very well done for what it is. It is looking at our capitalized society at its worst, explaining those flaws and letting everyone know how wrong they are. But in doing that he completely loses me in what he wants to do to change it and make it better. Or what to even appreciate about in our society. In a way it gives me a little bit of boomer vibes, "Well in my day we used to...." Or when you say it is a beautiful day the person responds, "Yes but the way in the Ukrainian is still going on..." True, but we can appreciate today for what it is, see the small joys in life and try our best to improve it moving forward. I give it a four for the technical quality of everything involved because that is impressive.
+1 star for the song with the Dr. Sbaitso voice
Great album. It's not my favorite Radiohead, but it's top tier for sure. 4.25/5
Excellent album.
Pretty damn good album, but as all albums that were groundbreaking for their time, has a bit of that "you had to be there at launch" feel to it
Going from "Old 70s album that nobody in my generation has ever heard of" to "Late 90s album that has plagued the previous and current generation of adults is quite jarring. I am, unfortunately, not emo nor am I a millennial. So, a lot of the vibes in this album go over my head. That does not, however, mean I lack respect for the melodies and intent. I especially enjoy Electioneering, Exit Music, and The Tourist. The rough sound of the 90s with the heavy synth tickles a part of my brain that makes me feel relaxed despite all the distortion and ambient(n't) samples sprinkled throughout the album. As a whole, while it isn't the kind of music I listen to that much, it's a great set that resonates strongly with the last 3 tracks in the album.
'OK Computer' is a landmark release in alternative rock, bridging the gap between Radiohead's distinctive sounds at the turn of the millennia. It's one of the albums that I listened to very early on in my alternative rock discovery period. It certainly still holds up upon re-listen - juxtaposing theatrical elements like in 'Lucky' and 'Paranoid Android' with the more isolated and spacious moments like 'No Surprises' and 'Let Down'. It all feels very cinematic and linear though I wouldn't exactly call it a concept album. 'Let Down' is easily my favorite song here and maybe my favorite Radiohead song - it details one's dissatisfaction with the monotony of their life as they yearn for an escape. It's not an insanely unique topic, but Yorke's writing and vocal performance transform this song's melancholic premise into something almost tragic (never mind the gorgeous wall of sound on the outro). I mentioned this album bridges the gap between Radiohead's sounds, and that's certainly true instrumentally - fusing elements of more traditional alternative rock with these electronically driven aspects that would be later fleshed out on 'Kid A'. This fusion helps convey this album's very overt messaging relating to a synthetic world; one that promotes shallowness and individualism. Song topics vary (like in the opener) but I always found that to be the overarching theme here. The playing and music sound great as well, but it would be redundant to talk about all that considering the sheer number of accolades this album has amassed throughout the years. I don't think I can add much to the 'OK Computer' gushery that hasn't already been said over the past nearly 27 years. To me though, this album has always been a very comforting listen and its dystopian imagery stands as potent even today. While I don't enjoy every track here and I typically just stick to the handful of songs here that I love, I most certainly "Get the Hype".
This is really depressing and exactly what I like
Couple good singles, though nothing as iconic as Creep I see this album as important in the evolution of the band that would go from Pablo Honey to Kid A and beyond, rather than supremely important to music generally
Ok, fine. I get it.
Alright, maybe I do like Radiohead a little. I was at least somewhat aware of Paranoid Android, Karma Police, and No Surprises, but I don't remember enjoying them this much. I'm also very happy to have heard Airbag. I wish Electoneering was less lo-fi, as this project has taught me that I don't really like that. Now I feel compelled to give Kid A and Amnesiac another try after listening to this...
'OK Computer' is a groundbreaking album that was ahead of its time, and a significant shift in the band's direction from their previous work. It may require multiple listens to fully appreciate. I highly recommend giving it a chance and listening to it more than once to fully absorb it before you completely write it off.
Moody, very moody. And a bit sad. But also very good. I don’t want to like this album, the lead singer moans a lot, is whiney and annoying. No Surprises (best song on the disc) is a perfect example. Agree that this one makes the 1001 must hear list (3.8*s)
This album will keep you engaged from start to finish and you'll never tire of listening to it. You hear something new each time through and it's as good as everyone has always said it is. It's atmospheric, moody, foreboding, and layered. It's also upbeat and promising at times and it aged very well. So complex but not overly produced, Radiohead does it again. You will see more from them on this list. Solid.
What an album. Always heard how good OK Computer was but never sat down and listened in unison. I am happy to sign off that it belongs on every list. Fantastic and creative from start to finish. I've been tangentially into Radiohead for a while but haven't really spent extended time listening to them. I know the hits and have been exposed from time to time to others and have pretty much always liked what I've heard. This listen specifically will inspire me to go album by album through their discography. 4.15 stars
a great record almost completely dragged down by narcissistic miserablism
Joe has promised not to call off the wedding even though I’m only giving this a 4. #phew I didn’t realize how much I enjoy Karma Police until this listen through. Overall liked this better than In Rainbows but I still think too many of their songs sound the same, which is holding me back from a 5 star rating.
dense, lush, layered, probably missed a lot of the references but this album seems a lot more interesting than the other two albums by them I've heard (The Bends and Hail to the Thief). Worthy of a few more plays!
I mean it's good , a solid 4 star but just short of greatness
Never gave it a fair chance before and ... wow. Very nice listen, experimental yet still a pretty easy listen. Easy to see why it got so popular. Fitter Happier and the second half not being as interesting drags it down a bit for me though.
This needs a specific mood but I listened to it on a rainy quiet afternoon with tea and my cat sleeping in my arms
Absorbing. Achieves a number of things at once - ambient chill for drifting off to sleep; commentary on life; intense moods. Rewards long-term attention.
Mellow vibes, very similar to a muse kind of sound. Enjoyed, to be honest never really listened to much radio head but I’d give it another go
Enjoyed this album eventually. Took a bit to get into.
If I had to rate this album in 2017 sitting high in my freshman dorm room when I initially fell in love with Radiohead, it would definitely get a 5. I still listen to some of my favorite songs, but haven't listened to this or Kid A in their entirety in quite a while. I still absolutely love Radiohead but I wasn't connecting to the entire album as much as I had in the past. That said, I listened to No Surprises and Karma Police like 5 more times after the album. Mood when starting: tired, wanting to be home Setting: driving in the rain late night to get back from a long family dinner
I've somehow avoided listening to this album up until today. I liked it, it was good. It doesn't immediately strike me as a legendary album in the way that Otis Blue or Sgt Peppers would, but I definitely enjoyed it. As with some other records on this list, I suspect this album was a moment in time as much as it was a collection of songs. I wasn't there for that moment, and I've benefited from all the music that was inspired by it later, leaving me feeling like it's a pretty familiar sound. Karma Police was my favorite song. The other notables were 'Subterranean Homesick Alien', which was a really ambient and cool tracks, and Electioneering. 8/10
dude. I mean, come on. I can't say anything that hasn't already been said about this album. just fucking listen to it. it's great.
Great album - not the happiest!
One of those albums where the brilliance shines through even if it's not always for me. Intensity and energy are present even in the quiet parts of this album.
Pretty good. Especially last 2-3 songs.
Ooooooo boy First off, fuck these zionist twats Second off, it's not even top 3 in their discography I don't know if I'm in deep enough to fully understand and love this record, but the songs that hit HIT. Paranoid Android, Electioneering, Let Down, Climbing Up the Walls, and of course the ever-flawless No Surprises. I don't love it as a cohesive project just yet, but what I respect is there.
I do not understand the hype. Maybe repeated listens would prove me wrong. Pretty good though.
Heavy hitter, widely recognized as a GOAT album, lots of new ideas and sounds given the time. Very deep and experimental in a HUGE fan. 4.4
Allein schon wegen "No surprises"
I have to put this to bed for myself. Been wracking my brain trying to figure out, really, what I think about this album (and Radiohead in general, as I still owe a review of Kid A). But I think I finally got it. The band are paradoxical. Yorke goes out of his way to confuse us both lyrically and professionally - in interviews, his stage presence or lack thereof, etc. Abjectly refusing to take the Prog baton, while doing exactly that. Being the "Biggest Band in the World™" while at the same time the most introverted band to ever exist (putting the lie to "introversion" as real concept at all, but these personality tropes help marketers so let's all just keep on pushing the stereotypes). Being upper-crust English Gentlemen from Oxford yet having a vicious hatred for the establishment. Being the living human embodiment of these paradoxes would push one to the edge of a certain socially acceptable madness. The listener is expected to ignore all of it and take a quick dip in this strange pool. I'm not judging this as bad. In fact, one of the reasons Radiohead succeeds is that they are somehow able to make catchy well-composed, almost accessible music out of this confused, often depressing and enraging state of mind. It's an impermanent state, but one that will float in and out of consciousness without warning. And one that leaves only on it's own accord, even if asked politely. This is Radiohead for me. They absolutely went to a place pop music (HA!) never really went. If we believe Yorke and Co this was not contrived but spontaneous. Another paradox, in that if tyoou think about it, no music is either truly spontaneous or truly contrived, it's not a black and white thing. I was becoming annoyed by interpretations of the lyrics and their confusing, abstract nature: WHAT DOES THIS MEAN! Add to it the idea, for me, that some of these interpretations do NOT correspond at all with what the words in the poems actually ARE. Just as an example, let's talk about Airbag (first song on the album and puts itself out there as a representative). I've read articles whose purpose was to shed light on the poetry (it's poetry, in the ancient sense, but without the storytelling) claiming this song is about a car crash. And outside of the literal interpretation, about "transport", and maybe even the dangers of modern society, cars, whatever. But if you look at the lyrics, what are they really saying? Born again. Almost died. Airbag saved my life. What actually saved your life, man? How did you almost die? Was Thomas telling the story of a car accident that he was in? Maybe.. these guys are a paradox. Maybe all of his angst has to do with people like me misinterpreting what he's trying to say. (I've read that infact some of Thom Yorke's angst comes from exactly this.) Is "Airbag" a complaint about technology, or an acknowledgement? The fine German car caused a problem (car crash), but the Airbag prevented a different problem (death), so maybe the technology that can kill you can actually save you? What is repeatedly discussed is being born again, and the chorus about an interstellar burst and how I am back to save the universe. Yes, Thom Yorke was in an accident, yes, he has spoken about it and the relationship to this song. So you can certainly take it very literally - the feeling of escaping a near death experience adn emerging from it with a renewed sense of joie de vivre. But HAVE YOU HEARD THIS SONG. There is no joy, only fear. So it's poetry and soundtracks. The poetry isn't really all that great. The singer sounds almost as if he doesn't want you to understand the words, they are there as a vehicle for his voice to intertwine with the guitar - vocals as musical instrument. WHich is great. People love that. It has just been difficult to unravel the various paradoxes with Radiohead, or understand when they are possibly NOT being paradoxical at all. I came to this music later in my life. If I heard this first when I was 17, you couldn't tear it out of my cold dead hands. But I deeply respect it, tall the guys in this bad are fantastic musicians and Thom Yorke is without question one of the best vocalists of this generation (arguably any generation), and an entertaining frontman as well. But every time I hear Radiohead, a small bit of my enjoyment is clouded by the cynicism that they themselves frame everything with. It becomes tedious. I feel pressure to like them more than I do. When that pressure gets to be too much to take, I put on OK Computer and drift away to a different place ;)
I can see lots of modern artists drawing inspiration from this album alone, and for that I love it!
Took me several listens but I converted to a fan of this album finally
I forgot how much I love Let Down as a song.
A strong 4 minus. Some songs are just a bit confusing
I liked this, very angsty.
heard this one before, had lots of songs liked already. i’ll still probably never get it the way big radiohead fans do, but this is nice to put on in the house. more a whole than the sum of its parts for me.
11/12
Wow, was that really 25 years ago. Shit, I'm old!
Really cool album. I wish there was like a 4.25 rating available. Electioneering might be my sleeper pick for favorite song.
This album humanized Radiohead for me. I’ve never been a full time fan of theirs, but I’ve always enjoyed certain moments, Karma Police for example. When Paranoid Android came out with its wild music video, I was stunned. I both loved it and was turned off by its otherworldliness. Giving this album a full listen helped me realize they are a rock band. Definitely one that was pushing limits and being weird, but they’re a rock band. I loved Electioneering and think I’ll add it to my running playlist. Also, Thom Yorke is one of a kind.
This album felt like a mental breakdown 👌👌👌
This sounded so much like MUSE
radio noises are a vibe; fun sounds
Lot's going on right from the beginning. Each song is pretty unique. Added a few to the ultimate playlist. Good stuff, easy to see why its important to this band and music.
I like. Might listen again ?
Another famous band I've not really listened to! I'm not sure if I actually recognise any track names from their top tracks. Paranoid Android was good and Karma Police sounded familiar! Enjoyed the whole album including the 2017 edition with the second side, it certainly has a vibe.
It's not my favourite Radiohead album so lets say it's a floored 4
As an admitted skeptic when it comes to Radiohead no Thom Yorke’s voice especially, I am pretty bowled over by OK Computer upon a complete listen. I need to listen a lot more, and a lot more carefully, because I’ve missed out here. Badly.
I enjoy music for how it pleases my ears and no much depth, this album has some tracks that I'll listen to for the rest of my life, rating 4 stars because some of them were not for my taste. Wonderfull album!
I finally just got into Radiohead this year and I really love this album!
Slow, Whiny depressed but very very good.
This was the turning point for Radiohead, the boundary between being a reasonable but limited Alternative band and something unique and enduring. There are hints of what was to come on The Bends, but OK Computer embraces fully the dreamy, electropop that would become signature Radiohead. This is the type of album you don't look to for "songs". Instead, it's about mood; It's about soundscapes. Of course, this is the point of polarization for Radiohead fans. You could like Fake Plastic Trees or Creep as just a song. You have to embrace Ok Computer as a concept. It was an either/or situation. What they began with Ok Computer is what we now think of as Radiohead. Thank goodness.
I get why people like this album. It has very pretty sounds. I think I would have liked it better if I smoked some indica. Or if I could make out anything Thom Yorke was singing about. Might smoke somethin and give it another listen.
I'm not a big fan of Radiohead. But this album holds a soft spot on my heart. Always nice to hear it.
I can’t listen to this album with fresh ears. It was my indoctrination to the musical tastes of my Austin crew and I treasure it. It’s atmospheric, yet melodic. Each song, a little symphony. Lyrically grand and prescient. 4.6
absoluter banger, klaustrophobisch, elektrisch, analog, dystopisch bass is super cool
Very pleased.
Listened to this after listening to The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Not a bad choice. Radiohead held their own. Glad I went back and checked this one out.
I liked it. Will listen to again
I take a star off to prove that I’m not a pick-me
Good album, didn’t grab me like some of the other Radiohead albums I’ve listened too but still a solid entry.
First full Radiohead album listen - it's a good one. All the singles are definitely the strongest songs on the album, with No Surprises being my favorite.
This album is excellent. It uses interesting chord structures, varied instrumentation, and haunting vocals to create an emotional experience, simultaneously imparting on the listener that feeling of existential, anxious dread in the pit of your chest and that tight, immediate adrenaline rush of anxiety. In short, this album is a paranoid experience in all the best ways. Favorite songs were Paranoid Android (duh), Electioneering, Karma Police, and Fitter Happier. I don't think I had a least favorite song.
It's pretty good, understand it is iconic, but it kid of slides past me
Ionic
I've heard of this album for a long time but never bothered to seek it out. I don't think it was an earth shattering legendary album. I can see where it would be on some peoples best list. Scale: 5 - My absolute favorites. 4 - Albums I like. 3 - It was ok to listen to but I wouldn't seek it out. 2 - Didn't like. 1 - Absolute shit.
Es un álbum muy interesante, aún así me gusta más el the bends y el in rainbows
Exceptional work by radiohead.
Bardzo fajna płyta. 4/5 Dobry rock, wspomnienia i stary klimat
Not historically my favorite band but I dig it
I can finally say I’ve listened to OK Computer. Nice 👍 4.5/5
I really loved the instrumentals for the calmer songs. I couldn't understand a single word but I loved most of the album. I had to skip \"Fitter Happier\" tho. Creeped me out a ton.
The instrumental and noise work on this album is great. Every song I can focus on something specific and something else blends and grabs my attention. I don't know if the vocals are #1 but they fit the sound much better than most artists could. That being said they aren't bad at all and the lyrics aren't a slouch even if there are stronger writers. The album is a bit over the top moody but there's something strong here for sure.
Very easy to listen to. Interesting choices. Works very well as a cohesive album. I'm just not sure where I stand. OK Computer, I'm sorry. It's not you. It's me. 4.5
Already been a huge addict of Kid A. Let Down and Karma Police make the album.
It's hard to review a Radiohead album as a Smashing Pumpkins fan, considering how many times the former has gotten gushing, rave reviews for being "pioneers" for doing something the latter had already done (and gotten mostly scorn), but damned if this isn't a great album.
A great one for sure. TY’s voice gets to be a bit much for me after too much Radiohead. But great overall.
An essential listen, no doubt. Bridges the gap between the more structured predecessor, The Bends, and the experimental successors, Kid A/Amnesiac. A little less cohesive than what came before and after.
Fantastic stuff, I get it. I’m a casual Radiohead fan. I usually like what I hear, I had a “greatest hits” CD in high school that I used to play, because even back then I knew Radiohead was an “important” band. This was the first time I listened to this album in full though. Absolutely wonderful experience. Very much my thing. I hear so much of stuff I like in this - Bowie, Eno, Nomi, REM, McCartney, Wings, Broken Social Scene - all made into something different and new. “Lucky” is my favorite track, sounds like a Bond theme for a Bond movie that never was. Can’t wait to relisten to this album some more!
"OK Computer?" More like... "Pretty Darn Good Computer."
For my first Radiohead album, I think I certainly got a more experimental one, but I didn’t get a bad one. Compared to the last album, we’ve got such a variance of styles, and those styles enhance the core sound & the core message of the album. As a listening experience, it’s a really good album, and I think I have to add every track (except Fitter Happier) to my big playlist pretty much solely on the production and the vocals. Lyrically, I’m sure I missed some stuff, but I don’t know if I really care. Right now, it’s not a perfect album to me; there were some points where the dissonance of everything turned me away, at least on that first listen. I don’t think I can give it a 5 right now, but it’s no less than a 4. I can see where the hype comes from, and I think if I give it another re-listen or two to just let everything truly overwhelm me, it could easily be a 5.
First time listening to this, but I was aware of the regard it is held in. A lot less morose than I was expecting! I love the guitar playing on it, adds some odd textures to the songs. Really good album, lives up to the hype.
Pretty solid, enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.
A bit depressing album :D But I liked the messy guitar and slow and emotional vocals. Reminds me slightly of Miami. But Mitski apparently did not draw any inspiration from Radiohead, only Coldplay lol. Also this is a very easy genre for me to listen to, I guess. I think a lot of modern British rock is better, this was a bit slow and bland for me. Not sure what my fav track was. And interesting lyrics I suppose.
4.5/5 Classic album. I love male manipulator music so much. <3
I need to feel in a mood to appreciate the album fully. It helps when there's heavy rain outside and I'm in with a cup of tea. I love that the album creates a beautiful unified whole. Sometimes they moan.
I discovered Radiohead when In Rainbows came out in ‘08. I went on a deep dive. Anytime I hear their music it takes me back to living in Chicago and discovering a new city.
One of the most beloved albums in the history of music. It is loved by everyone and there really is absolutely no one who doesn't like this album. It has flaws, but they are minimal. Yorke at his best is seen on this album. Truly a revolution in Alt-Rock and a revolution in the band itself. The production of the album is beautiful and the interpretation of each of the participants of the album is important. It has some of the best songs of the band's career. I think it ends up being so beloved because of the deep-not-deep writing that the songs have. While you have songs where deep lyrics are present (Karma Police), you have songs where they are not present and they are still great songs (No Surprises). I'm not saying that it's written like that, I'm saying that it has a quite digestible writing. In addition to this the more electric sound of the album as opposed to the other two albums before this one and that sound sounds so fresh to this day.
A melancholy masterpiece.
Wasn't bad but way overrated
Late 90s alternative rock. Shades of Coldplay, Tragically Hip and Gin Blossoms… pleasantly surprised (I did not listen to Radiohead when there were popular). Low 4
Superb
I was really into electronic music at the time this came out so was pleased that Radiohead had gone all ‘Aphex Twin’ on us. Really interesting album, don’t understand why my brain likes his whiney moaning voice, it’s variety of styles, but even after all these years it still does. Are Radiohead essentially Wakeman without the cape and better synths - if so please let’s hope their next tour is a faithful recreation of King Arthur on Ice!
Sounds OK. Computer
It's alright. A pretty solid album with some good stuff on it. I'll give it the same light four I give every Radiohead album, or at least most of them. It's good, but not exactly what I want. My favourite songs were Karma Police, No Surprises, and Subterranean Homesick Alien. Shocking, I know.
I was 13 when this album came out and never gave it the attention I should have. Innovative and daring album in the hay day of grunge.
Bit of a downer, but in an excellent way.
"OK Computer" by Radiohead is a groundbreaking album that effortlessly blends alternative rock with experimental elements. Released in 1997, it remains a masterpiece with its thought-provoking lyrics, intricate instrumentals, and Thom Yorke's haunting vocals. Tracks like "Paranoid Android" and "Karma Police" showcase the band's ability to create atmospheric soundscapes while delivering socially conscious messages. The album's cohesive narrative and sonic innovation have solidified its place in music history, making it a must-listen for anyone appreciating the evolution of rock.
overrated computer
Never thought I liked Radiohead, but I think it’s because the fans of Radiohead.
avant guard
I was excited to sit down and listen to this as an adult. I know there are some bangers on here, but as a young'n Radiohead was the annoying boring stuff that interrupted the loud grunge on the radio and the music video for paranoid android was highly unsettling to me. It really drags at the end, but there's a lot of great stuff here. It has an emblematic 90s non-music interlude track which I appreciate on principle. It hearkens to a time when people made albums instead of singles
I enjoyed this one. I had only listened to a few songs by Radiohead before (“Karma Police” being one) but I knew I liked their style of music. I really appreciated the variety of songs, and I think that “The Tourist” is my new favorite Radiohead song. I didn’t want the album to end.
perfect for disassociating at the mall because I accidentally needed to buy pants on Thanksgiving weekend, thanks
Some great angsty songs, thoughtful writing throughout, great instrumental, great guitars, you can see what they were going for and they nailed it Tom Yorke looks a bit like my ex girlfriend in a weird way though
Good, varied and just like I remember it.
Channels moody y2k teen in the best way.
Radiohead entirely passed me by when they came out. Glad I'm able to listen now pretty much for the first time, outside the singles. This was a joy!
Great Album!!
I first heard this when I was a young 17 year old girl in a band with a bunch of 30 something year old dudes. The guy who taught me to play guitar handed me this album and Ween’s GodWeenSatan. I wasn’t ready for Ween quite yet but I loved OK Computer. This album is so electric. Much better than their moany electronic stuff.
This album has aged so well. It is atmospheric and immersive. For an album that is so heavily produced, it has a live feel to it. I imagine I’ll get more out of this each time I come back to it

Moody and sad in the best way
Pääasiallisesti hyvä levy, mutta muutama hitaampi filleri on mukana. The Tourist esimerkiksi olisi voinut jäädä pois.
3.5: I generally like a few songs by A tribe called quest but not today I guess

Really enjoyed 😁
Really enjoyed some of the song selection
“No alarms and no surprises please” this album isn’t for every mood but when it hits, it’s perfect.
Strange and unique. Liked it a lot!
Probably my favorite Radiohead album, but I don't really go out of my way to listen to Radiohead anymore. Album flows really nicely overall, and No Surprises stays sad af
