Can't stand singer's voice..some good guitar rifts and catchy tunes but not a fan.
Utter utter poo
I don’t care for hair bands, especially not Guns N’ Roses. I couldn’t listen to more than three songs tbh.
not my style
Genuinely made me sick to my stomach. If I never here this album again in my life it would still be too soon
Wat een geschreeuw. Echt niet voor mij
Nee bedankt
Paradise City is de meest overbodige plaat uit de geschiedenis en de rest van deze nummers is helaas niet veel beter.
Borderline insufferable. It’s giving “I’m trapped in the car with new people, and I don’t have control of the aux”.
Awful - mediocre at best
Remarkably bad
Pure shit. Normally I could just sit here in silence but I actually have to listen to something good now to cleanse my brain.
I have zero desire to listen to any of these songs again
Maybe I should have guessed this ahead of time but I'm only a few albums in and already feeling like this list is actually "1001 overplayed albums that no one on god's green earth ever needs to hear again." I can see why Appetite For Destruction may once have had a reason to exist, but that time has long since passed. To be avoided, if only that were possible.
Bad
Nope! Next
Garbage music. Would much rather hear Van Halen
Just not my thing. In all honesty I didn’t even listen to the whole album because it annoyed me so much. Axl’s singing style just doesn’t work for me.
List of things I like about gnr: Slash is a good guitarist, and most of the band is very technically talented List of things I dislike about gnr: Axl rose is a horrid vocalist, bottom 5 of all time Lyrics are terrible Music is boring and sounds the exact same flavor of boring throughout the course of this hour long album How is this dog shit album so universally beloved?
Nah
I had to skip some songs half way after I couldn't stand anymore. I can't stand that voice and the squealy guitar.
Tsk er ikke så vild med Guns n’ roses. Undtagen sweet child o mine, brings me back til hotel på Tenerife hvor den blev spillet dag og ud og dag ind😍
peak shitty dad rock (although have a soft spot for Sweet Child of Mine)
Not my thing. Sounds one dimensional.
Puke.
Boring and over rated.
Não gostei 👍🏾
fuck off
Can't stand his voice. Band is amazing. Different singer differend rating. Myles Kennedy would have slayed these songs. The little pompous weasel suck.
Two dressed up clowns ruining an Ex-Punk band‘s otherwise solid songs with their uninspired guitar soli, whiny singing, and racist lyrics. Should have died from heroin 💉
Never liked this band. Still don't. Rose is a terrible singer.
It was nice that the members of Guns n Roses put all their hits on one album. If they split them onto multiple albums , I fear the creators of this list would have felt inclined to force us to listen to 2 of their albums.
One dimensional band
🖕GNR
*No music, loud banging drums, squealing guitars, screaming people. All tracks sound alike. NOT easy listening!
No. Just no. It's making me cringe so hard. It's peak boomer rock and I can't listen to it. Couldn't finish it. Bleh.
Surprisingly bad given the prominence of the singles.
That's terrible.
It insists upon itself
Good if you like listening to songs written with the emotional depth of a 3 year old and sung by a howling banshee. Paradise City is just about bearable.
G'n'R just sounds like a last attempt to rectify the dying Hair Metal genre... Axl is no fun (such an 80's nickname).
6/24/25. Some classics on here including Welcome to the Jungle and Sweet Child O'Mine, however the full album doesn't resonate with me at all. Maybe just a bit bland for my taste.
Jedinica iz principa. // Bila bi dvica jer ima dobre (ali iritantne) muzičke pratnje a glas je najgori u historiji svijeta.
Fuck guns and roses
This is the hundred thirty third album I’m rating. I've never been a big fan of Guns N' Roses but maybe they'll prove me wrong with this album. Adding to my Playlist - Nothing. Not Adding to my Playlist - Welcome to the Jungle, It's So Easy, Nightrain, Out ta Get me, Mr. Brownstone, Paradise City, My Michelle, Think About You, Sweet Child o' Mine, You're Crazy, Anything Goes, and Rocket Queen. Welcome to the Jungle - I hate this song. It's really really overrated. Extremely overplayed too. All in all I liked 0/12 songs. The 80's had some of the worst music. There was a really weird gap between the 70's and the 90's where they started to make awful music like this.
Couldn’t finish!
At the end of the day, few things stick out about this record. 1. It’s REALLY difficult to listen to the entire album. 2. Nightrain is the only song that is better than just ok (and it’s actually much better than ok, it’s pretty damn good). 3. The huge hits on this record are insanely overrated. Poorly written rock songs for rock fans who were unable to climb beyond the lowest branch of the rock n roll tree. Axl’s Rose’s vocal range is impressive when you ignore the fact that he couldn’t use that talent in an impactful way in terms of song writing. One of the most overrated bands ever.
Did absolutely nothing for me.
Noise. Even the classics
mullet shite
I heard more than enough of this in high school, but I suffered through the entire album anyway. Apart from the three hits, the tracks are completely indistinguishable. Each song sounds just like the last, and the lyrics are basic. I really don’t see how this belongs on any "best of all time" list. Glad to say I have now heard it for the first and last time.
Didn't like it
Music for dumb people
Hot garbage
I think Cobain said it best when he said that GNR had very little substance under maximalist hard rock. The legacy of this album is now captured in obnoxious and cheeky Marvel and Marvel-like movies.
No, I can explain what the difference is between good-corny (Paranoid by Black Sabbath) and bad-corny (Guns 'n' Roses). But this is bad. I thought maybe the classics would redeem it, but welcome to the jungle is just kinda gross (only Sweet Child is any good). 1.5 stars, thanks only to the strength of sweet child. But Imma round down because I did not enjoy this experience.
Nah... all noise. Some things are timeless, this is plain dated. Not my cup of tea.
💩
I don’t really dig this - the sound, the vibe, the attitude just aren’t for me much. Mostly it’s just Axl’s fucking raspy wailing, I just hate it. The album is very “rock n roll”, it’s grimey, rebellious, dirty, druggy, and sexual - just not in a way I find enjoyable. Musically I can dig some of it - Slash is a solid guitarist and McKagan is a more interesting bassist than I realized. They can get a loose groovy riff going. But then Axl’s voice just ruins my enjoyment. So not for me though I get why people like it.
Overindulgent and very poor imitation of Led Zeplin. Should never be listened to
These guys are pedophiles
despite all his theatrics axl rose remains one of the most disappointingly one-dimensional rock frontmen of note...he doesnt sound at home doing anything thats not annoying and offputting sleaze, and even then he truly does have one of the all time Worst Timbres Of Voice On A Human Being. the surrounding record is melodic enough to be rewarding if ur into the aesthetic goals, which i am not, once the novelty is gone theres like nothing here lol. white dude Urban Mythology is so empty, man. slash is close to a saving grace because i cant deny that he's fun, but he's most fun when he just sort of ignores the song and runs off to do his own thing...generally a fine combination of melodicism and technical flash from him but he leaves very very little impression on me after the fact. whether he needs better songs or a better band idk, but honestly maybe his limitation is just that outside a couple weird outliers (like the borderline jangle poppy flourishes on think about you), everything just sounds the same...he doesnt have the breadth of sonic/musical vocab that jimi hendrix or eddie van halen had. just kind of an empty album all around, one ive heard quite a few times in my life but that has failed to make a meaningful impression on me other than an annoyance that has grown stronger over time
sorry boy...
Nope
Didn't care for it
I really don't like GNR. Never did, and maybe never will.
The only thing worse than guns n roses in 1987 is guns n roses in the modern day. Axl Rose is the single most arrogant, untalented, and frankly embarrassing vocalist that’s ever recorded an album. He’s a stain on the music industry as a whole and the world is certainly a far worse place with him in it. His singing is annoying and unlistenable. The riffs on this record are boring and predictable. Slash’s talent is entirely just the fact that he memorized a basic pentatonic scale and used it for every single solo. The drumming is absolutely standard and also very boring. The bass is so low in the mix it’s hard to tell if there even is a bass guitar. There hasn’t been a worse album on this list yet, and I really don’t think there will be. Down with guns n roses. 0*.
i have a black denim guns n roses jacket i thrifted years ago with this huge embroidered design on the back. i love this jacket. so guns n roses brought at least one good thing into existence
Not sure I can finish this. This has been the real test of how much I actually want to do this
Horrible.
One star for sweet child o mine being able to instantly transport me back to 1989, when this song was inescapable. A very Proustian moment. The rest of it, ugh. All that testosterone, long sweaty hair, preposterous rawk n raunch, oh those LA bad boys. Plus, Axle is a complete arse.
i'm going to shit myself and die
Welcome To The Jungle is pretty great tbh, shame this album then outstays its welcome by about eleven songs. I was going to give this 2/5 but then I heard Anything Goes which finally destroyed all respect I had for the obvious musicianship on display here. I will very happily never hear another album track by this band ever again.
Every time I dread listening to a certain album I’m usually pleasantly surprised. NOT the case for this album it is awful
I rolled my eyes when this showed up. I've never been a fan and have never understood the passion people have for this band. But whatever, I went in with an open mind. "Welcome to the Jungle" in undeniably great. It's such a perfectly crafted pop song with all the trimmings—hooks galore, great performances, great energy. 10/10 no notes. The second song I'd never heard before and I would have never guessed it was GnR, it sounded so different. So props for that, but major minus for the aggressive misogyny. Then... well, then it pretty much went to shit with the nonstop hard rock cliches and godalmighty but Axel's vocals annoy the hell out of me. And yeah, OK, Sweet Child of Mine is solid, but by that point I had given up. Fuck Guns and Roses and that disgusting brew of toxic LA-hard-rock masculinity.
irritating
i fear i am the exact opposite audience for this! a little samey all the way thru :/ sorry #boys
Oooof! Thought maybe I would like this because the first song is pretty fun but that second song is dire. Pretty much disliked the vibes of this throughout. Yuck!
Jeg bliver stresset og træt samtidig!
There aren't many bands I have an irrational dislike of, but guns n roses are one of them! I'm not sure exactly what it is that makes me dislike them, but it all just feels so fake. More of an act to be perceived a certain way and liked by certain people than anything else and it really gets to me. Baby's first stadium rock band. Doesn't help that welcome to the jungle, sweet child of mine and paradise city have been played to death at every rock club and seem to be adored by most. Not for me. All that being said, I've never listen to an album so I tried to listen to this with an open mind..... It's crap and my irrational dislike is slightly less irrational now. I hate all the hits and the album tracks did not suprise me in the slightest. 1. Would like to say I never need to hear them again, but I know I'm going to have to
I hated it
No. In 1987 I went to an amusement park and hundreds of people there were wearing Guns-N-Roses concert tees—I guess there had been a concert there night before. The shirts came in two flavors, censored and not censored. The not censored one depicted an unconscious girl sitting in a dirty alley learning against the wall with her blouse pulled open revealing her tits and her panties around her ankles. On the wall, graffiti read “Guns-N-Roses was here”. I haven’t looked up this shirt to see if my memory was correct, but I saw them enough while waiting in lines full of families as the band’s troglodytic fans wore this rape fantasy obliviously or on-purpose but by all means proudly. I had never heard of the band before but I thought, these guys suck to have thought that shirt was funny or clever. Almost 40 years later, thanks to this site, I have finally listened to them and discovered to my zero surprise, that every song on the album other than the ones written for the radio sounds like it was written by a manchild who thought depicting a rape victim dumped in an alley with graffiti that reads “Guns-N-Roses was here” was funny and clever. Fuck off, Guns-N-Roses and Guns-N-Roses fans.
This was just noise to me.
White mediocrity at its finest. Not even Welcome to the Jungle is anything special to me. In fairness, I liked Paradise City and Mr. Brownstone caught my attention. Sweet Child O Mine kinda goes too. Everything else blows, especially that weird one about the “daddy does porno now that mommas gone” cause wtf was that.
Unangenehmer Schweinerockimpetus. Angeberhafte Attitüde und unoriginell, bzw. da gibt es Ähnliches, was mich nicht so dermaßen abstößt.
Not to my liking, the lyrics are banal.
nope
Nope
Bon Jovi for girls who hate their Dads.
I wasn’t looking forward to listening to this and then I looked at the track list and realized I hear just about all of these songs against my will on a regular basis. I don’t hang around GNR fans, that’s just how annoyingly ubiquitous Sweet Child Of Mine is. Fuck this music and anyone over the age of 14 that listens to it on purpose.
I've heard them before. Had rh album, listened to it. Couldn't connect. It's not my thing. I know others who love it. They are not my tribe. It's not my preferred album. I couldn't be bothered trying to unpack it. I did a couple of stanzas and I just thought, it's all so same ... So same ... 1 star.
Not a huge fan. The album is full of energy, and definitely kind of fun, but it really isn't my kind of music. Lyrically felt pretty simple for the most part. Mildly explicit. Sound was okay, but much of it felt very repetitive. Wouldn't be interested in listening again. Favorite song: Sweet child of mine
Nur teils meine Musik
No.
My god I hate this band... I'll go as far to admit that there's some catchy jams and Sweet Child O Mine is a definite ear worm, but Axel has one of the most annoying voices and absolutely ruins everything I hear him in.
You need a truck thats built just like you... Buy the new Ford F 150!
i can't tell if it's because i have been inundated with these songs my entire life or if i genuinely dislike this stuff so much, or both. but i'm sorry, this sucks so bad. i usually do not mind non-conventional singing voices but axl rose's voice is so shrill and awful. the music is so beyond cliche and the production is so flat. the only people who are into this are teenage boys and middle aged men longing to be teenage boys again. no in-between. i can't imagine listening to this and thinking it's awesome. it just is the antithesis of what i like in music. no thanks.
It's been a while since i've really heard an album I hated. That's mostly because i've listened to a lot less music that's new to me this year, and when I do i've stayed in familiar territory. Unfortunately I decided to start listening to more music again and started the 1001 albums list more seriously. Good because I get exposed to more music I like, bad because there are some real significant hitters that I know I hate and don't want to hear. I got this one after an eight day streak of good albums, as if my luck was tempting fate and I had to be batted back down into submission. I've obviously heard this album before, and besides that I, like anyone else vaguely familiar with popular music and a general interest in rock music or anything pushing heavier, have heard the bigger cuts from this a good thousand times. I don't think I ever really loved, or so much liked this band, despite enjoying Sweet Child o Mine back in the day, but that was probably more thanks to having started learning guitar than having any huge interest in the worst end of "hard" rock. Nowadays, though i've been on a drought of it for a while, I love heavy metal and old people rock, though i've still got a little distaste for the weaker hard rock elements in those early trad albums. This is barely hard rock, definitely not metal, and lacks pretty much all of the elements of the good attempts at both those genres. I don't think i've heard an album as lyrically embarassing as this. I mean it's hardly the first rock album with a lazy single-minded focus on sex and women while half-heartedly attempting to look "cool", but i've not found too many that really take this much of the cake. If i'd written "It's So Easy" i'd have burned the paper it was written on to save myself the sheer embarassment of even the idea someone else would read it. I've scarcely seen a lyric as bad as "I see you standing there/You think you're so cool/Why don't you just fuck off". It's not the only forced swear attempt that just comes off as a 12 year old's first day knowing the word fuck. "Out ta Get Me" for example is one of the better actual songs on the album (not that that means much) but mars itself with more embarassing lines like "I'm fucking innocent" and "'Cause I got something I've been building up inside/For so fuckin' long" and the extra-gold "So you can suck me". That's not even touching on Axl's vocals which are really poor. They make no real impact, aside from grating, they're vaguely high-pitched in the vein of some great 80's metal vocalists but with absolutely zero of the actual worth or intrigue of those (thinking Bruce Dickinson or King Diamond). Instrumentally there's mostly nothing going on. I think the best stuff is the guitar on Sweet Child o Mine, which is also probably the best song here, but even then it's running too long. The last minute of that song is them singing "Where Do We Go?" repeatedly, as they know as much as anyone how go-nowhere the songwriting is, and how artificially extended each song is. Why is "Paradise City" nearly 7 minutes long? Who on this planet needs to hear 7 minutes of that song? Also just to top off the lack of ideas, two songs here with moans in, and both male and female just so they can fill the market of both male and female listeners who enjoy sexual moans permeating their music. At the end of the day it's a very popular and successful album so i'm clearly not the majority opinion, and that's fine, so long as that majority keep this album away from my ears for the forseeable future.
Honestly really lame except for welcome to the jungle. But otherwise really secular and not my jam
Repetitive, very generic. Guitar riffs are forgettable. The best thing I can say about Guns N' Roses is how good they are at tricking people into thinking screeching counts as singing.
Not for me.
Someone please tell me that the world will never again have to experience the true awfulness that is an 80's hair band.
Woo, they sure are rocking aren't they. Good for them.
Nah, couldn't finish this. Just dreadful.
Heard before: yes I try to be as unbiased as I can when I start listening to these records. But I could not wait for this to be over. Sure, it’s a really skillfully made record. I just hate this band, and they make me feel like a worse human when I listen to them. So I guess, mission accomplished, eh boys? Top tracks: Sweet Child O’ Mine, Paradise City, Mr Brownstone
Zero stars. Axl Rose's voice is awful.
I find him to have one of most insufferable voices in popular rock n roll, maybe only better than Brian Johnson. I would like to please never hear their overplayed hits ever again.
Funny this comes straight after Aerosmith, cut of the same cloth, ploughing the same ground, two peas in a pod, bookends, maybe I'm trying to say that in a way they are the same thing. I loathe Sweet Child O Mine with a passion, hated it at the time and would not go back for a listen if Dimery paid me. Still, I got to hear "loaded like a freight train, flyin like an aeroplane, speeding like a space brain, eye,eye eye eyeeeeyeyeyeyeyyeyyeyyeyyeyeyeyey".. What's not to like?
Ugh. This album came out when I was college. I probably enjoyed some of these songs in college, until a roommate decided to play this album 2-3 times a day, just about every day and now the sound of the lead singer makes me sick. I don't even want to type any more about these guys. Will not listen ever again. Hopefully, this is the first and last of these guys. -1
So boring. This is the exact kind of "classic" rock that I just don't get the appeal of at ALL.
fuck this sucks
A star given for ‘Sweet Child...’ Hugely overrated album to my ears. Rose’s voice quickly becomes unlistenable.
I simply cannot
Dad Rock, los bangers que tiene vienen dados más que nada por nostalgia más que por calidad
Tired and old
Nope
so gross and vulgar, aping the worst of their influences
notes - i cant stand axl rose’s voice - everything about this album is “shrill” - this album is basically the opposite of what i enjoy - fav song - think about you - i liked the acoustic guitar touch in the chorus - the lyrics were not as cringe inducing as most of the other songs least fav - nightrain - awful chorus - some of axl’s most annoying vocals - BONUS: anything goes counting down the seconds till the album ended, 1/5
Time for an very colored opinion. If I hate any band it is this dumb, fake, macho band called Guns and Roses. All image, no contents. Their worst crime is their rape of Knocking on Heaves Door, having two hits that you keep on hearing everywhere, Paradise City and Sweet Child of Mine, is their second worst crime. Best thing: tomorrow's album will be 100 times better.
Painful. The hits I knew from millions of plays on radio, parties, boganfests and anywhere kids like to act tough. The filler tracks were lame . Lyrics are peurile, delivery over the top.
Absolutely not. Refuse to even try it. I hate gnr and this album
One good thing about this project is that it has forced me to confirm things I’ve thought for a long time, in this case it’s that I really don’t fucking like GunzNroses. The backing music is fine I guess, but pretty repetitive. After a few songs you’ve basically heard all of their tricks and flashes. Then there is Axel Rose, who continues to amaze me at how overrated he is as a vocalist. I find it sounds like listening to a baby wailing and posturing as a tough guy who fucks.
Pitié
Rock in this form is lame. L
Dumbass American rock.
No thank you. I've heard as much of this band as I ever care to.
Awful. "Sweet Child Of Mine" is their only good song
Not a fan
Not a heavy metal fan. The only one I liked was “Sweet Child of Mine”. I felt like the first 5 just ran into each other. Couldn’t tell tell when one stopped and a new started. Too screechy for me. But great album cover for 2 days before Halloween 🎃
me niego a escuchar guns n' roses
sucks and boring and macho and a tired subject mattter and bad and bad
К пятому треку альбома становится не вывоз, голос Акселя писклявый бесит (хотя с мотли крю такого нет) Секс, наркотики и рок круто, но не так Будто грязными патлами потрясти захотелось
Unpopular opinion but this is really just not for me in any way.
Ewwwwwww
listening now, feeling extremely meh about it
This is lowest-common denominator rock. Very simple sing along-y choruses and lyrics. One cliché piled on top of another. At least Iron Maiden were smart enough to make the lyrics garbled & unintelligible. The guitar playing is good but this music was so in the rear-view mirror in 87.
I can’t believe this is on the list. G&R epitomize the cliched overblown 80s hair band. Every song sounds the same and his voice is annoying AF
I can't stand Guns N' Roses
Smell you later
Generic, boring frat rock.
No.
Bruh
Not a fan of the vocals at all.
Shit
im not listening to this
