Some thunderous riffs and ultimate rock moments in this album, and it goes without saying that hand full of tracks are obviously classics. But there's no escaping how naff it can all get at times, is it the music? The lyrics? the delivery? I'm not sure. I won't be listening again to find out. 2/5 - Cheesy as fuck.

Has entered the realm of "yeah its a classic, but I would also be happy if I never listened to it again"

They arrived with a massive explosion. There was some great rock around at that time, but it wasn't played on commercial radio. Instead we had that travesty known as "hair metal." Firstly, it wasn't metal, it was plastic pop with guitars. It didn't rock, it primped. I took one look at G'n'R and expected more of the same. Then I heard this! It just launches and never sets down. Usually I get bored with too much of the same, but they rock so hard it doesn't matter. Like every great band it begins with the rhythm section. Slash peels off solos that Page would struggle to equal. Like all the great leads, he is melodic, not just some boring shredder like Steve Vai. Axl doesn't have a great voice, but it suits the songs. This is one of the great debut albums, yet they went better with Use Your Illusion(s)...

i desperately needed this album after a week of god awful albums… so i really enjoyed it. i needed a hard rock and this is perfect. it’s just a good, loud album.

I'm not sure there's anyone over the age of...10? 12? who hasn't heard at least a few songs from this. I remember when this came out - there was a slow burn, people were sort of aware of it, then BAM it blew up and was *everywhere* - it was lumped in with the other longhair/spandex heavy rock of the time but is definitely different: greasier, dirtier, more raw - like the punk rock of hair metal. Due to the popularity - and it's gotten bigger over the years, too - I honestly never ever need to hear Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child again thanks to unimaginative and boring classic rock radio [or watch any hockey game and guaranteed at least 2/3 are played between plays], although to be fair in context they do sound great here. Some of the non-hits are absolute killers, especially the first half up to Paradise City; my highlight is that "Mr Brownstone" riff which has always been one of my favourites. So yeah - I hadn't voluntarily put this on in years but it's just a damn great angry punky stupid infantile amazing sounding album - emphasis on how cool it sounds; the dual guitars were/are nothing new but the way they didn't exactly match up and kept that perfectly-designed sloppiness in a Stones kinda way is probably what puts this album over the top. I'm not always in the mood for it and it's not necessarily my favourite kind of music [mostly please please look away from the totally 80s sexist-as-hell-at-best lyrics] but it's also arguably one of the 3-4 greatest debuts in rock history, perfect for the time, and I'm not sure could have been any better... if that's not a 5 star then what's the point... 9/10 5 stars.

Ich frag mich echt wie self-aware das ist weil die lyrics sind so unglaublich stupide. Also generell dieses ganze Genre basiert auf so idiotischen Ästhetiken irgendwie, weil unironisch „I‘m on the Nighttrain“ zu schreien und das badass zu finden ist einfach nur Ultra Level Comedy. Bei welcome to the Jungle funktioniert das noch einigermaßen, da kann man es zumindest auf die „Rockstar welt“ beziehen aber beim Rest ist das so dumm so Texte hab ich mit 13 mal geschrieben. Es geht echt um gar nichts außer ein seltsam mondänes Bild von Coolness zu produzieren und damit unfreiwillig lächerliche Momente zu erschaffen. Das sieht man ja schon in den Covern dieser Alben das es wirklich reine Ästhetik basierend auf alteingesessenen Paradigmen ist, was ja erstmal nicht schlimm ist aber die sind halt komplett uncool. Mir fällt rr keine andere Musik ein die auf so infantilen und albernen Grundlagen basiert. Also ka ob das nur retrospektiv so ist aber wie kann man diese Inhalte ernst nehmen, insofern MUSS da doch ne gewisse Self-Awareness dabei sein, weil dann wäre es ganz witzig. Manche Songs sind ganz cool musikalisch.

Add this to the list of massive bands I somehow missed when they were huge. I was in college when this album came out, yet I don't remember listening to any of their music until maybe 5 years later, and even that didn't happen often. So, weirdly, this is my first full listen-through of this album. It's...fine, I guess. Definitely has that big 80s stadium-rock sound, which even back in the 80s I mostly avoided, or at least selectively avoided. A few of the songs on this album got a lot of airplay back then on radio and MTV, so I recognized a handful of big hits. It's not bad, it just doesn't interest me much at all.

I know before even turning this on its going to be 5/5. What a great album, so many hits and still so relevant today, 35 years later.

Had only ever listened to the 'hits' before, so this is my first time listening to the entire album. I thoroughly enjoyed it, I already knew I liked the hits and the Guns N' Roses sound. i also thought the rest of the tracks were a fun listen, especially "Mr. Brownstone" and "My Michelle". However, "Rocket Girl" was slightly odd.

Ew, gross. I'm forced to hear this garbage every day on the butt rock radio station at work that a bitter old white trash coworker forces everyone to listen to. GnR is easily the worst of the hair metal bands, which is the worst genre of popular music of the last 70 years. This is worthless. This is one of the two worst albums I've had to listen to for this project so far.

Хорошее начало положено. 2 Это поёт тот же человек? Просто в прошлом треке был другой тембр голоса. Песня звучит как типичный рок того времени, но мне нравится 3 Хорошо. Больше слов нет. Трек никак не впечатлил. 4 Песня энергичная, но опять же однотипная. 5 Cнова замечательный гитарный риф. Заставляет пританцовывать, осторожно. 6 Так и не понял что хитого в этой песне кроме мотивчика. Просто отлично сделанная пенся, причём на целых 6минут, лайк 7 Какое атмосферное начало... пожалуй лучший трек с альбом пока что. Не понимаю почему так мало прослушиваний, по равнению с остальными трекам. 8 Сейчас бы сесть в девяточку малинового и поехать отдыхать под эту песню. Мне нравится, лайк 9 Трек слышал очень давно. Он у меня даже добавлен. Просто наслаждаемся шедевром... 10 Ритм шикарный, ща дотонцую и приду. Песня прекрасна! 11 Что за странные звуки в начале песни хахахахаха, похоже на резиновых уточек. Гитарист отжигает! Да ещё и губная гармошка тут! Самый необычный трек с альбома, добавляю 12 Что за барабаны, что за бас, что за ангельский голосочек, мама мия, либо я начал понимать этот альбом, либо он прекрасен под конец. Следующие прослушивания мне помогут в этом разобраться. Прослушивание 2: Похоже я начинаю любить этот альбом. Он явно останется в моем плейлисте, вопрос на сколько? Возможно я нашёл новую любовь, но загадывать пока рано!(p.s. я добавил все треки) Прослушивание 3: Всё, наши чувства однозначно взаимны, и я определился с оценкой альбома 100% Прослушивание 4: Нет слов, одни эмоции. Кстати, не смотри клип на 1 трек, вот это он кринж конечно.... Вывод: Да....не ожидал, что альбом так зацепит. 5 из 5. Альбом остаётся в моей медиатеке, и будет прослушан десятки раз.

That Album is F-ing awesome

For me, Guns and Roses stand above other guitar driven bands in the 80s. The musicianship is better, the songwriting is better, and overall they are much better at avoiding some of the hair metal cliches that would not age well. While this album contains some filler, it also contains some of the best known rock songs of all time. It is gritty while maintaining a sensitive undertone and that vulnerability and confidence set it apart from your run of the mill 80s rock albums.

One good thing about this project is that it has forced me to confirm things I’ve thought for a long time, in this case it’s that I really don’t fucking like GunzNroses. The backing music is fine I guess, but pretty repetitive. After a few songs you’ve basically heard all of their tricks and flashes. Then there is Axel Rose, who continues to amaze me at how overrated he is as a vocalist. I find it sounds like listening to a baby wailing and posturing as a tough guy who fucks.

Was delighted to see this come up. What a tornado of an album. A couple filler songs are astronomically offset by all-time banger after banger, crowned by my all time favorite tune Paradise City. I’m on the night train, so’s I can leave this slum… 10/10

Part Led Zep, part Aerosmith, part AC/DC (and a lot of other bands) ‘Appetite For Destruction’ is as raunchy and sleazy a debut as anything that came before it. Where it’s different compared to other hard rock albums of the era is in the nasty, mean, and grim undercurrent that runs through the album. However it’s also full of terrific hooks and riffs, meaning it’s a record that still thrills and feels dangerous, even today.

Cool album with some good songs not my cup of tea but can't ignore the greatness

I know this is overplayed but shit it's a good album & I love it!

Not normally my bag. For certain I know this record from the inescapable radio and MTV rotation, and probably Beavis & Butthead. One is welcome to adore acid distressed vocals and bleach-blond jeans without apology.

Can remember liking this at the time of release but now those whiny vocals really do start to grate. Its So Easy & Mr Brownstone still sound great but hard to listen to it all the way through.

One of the most enthralling, exhilarating, refreshing and outright rollicking hard rock albums of the 80s. Guns n' Roses put all of their eggs in one basket here and it produced brilliant results. No wonder why we all go back to it time and time again. Favorites: Welcome to the Jungle, Mr. Brownstone, Paradise City, Sweet Child o' Mine, Rocket Queen.

Hmmm... sneaks a low four. Mainly so as to not mess up my genre ratings! No really, obviously there are one or two classic songs in there but generally I find GnR quite parodic and tiresome.

Enjoyed it more than i thought i would, but still not much. Hair rock vocals do my head in a bit.

Definitely a classic, but not the entire album. Some huge huts on this album and pure rock 'n' roll, but some songs are lacking, and the overall sound starts to get repetitive.

One or two of these at a time are awesome. Not a surprise that his voice gets grating all at once though. By the middle of My Michelle I had to take a break. 3 stars for good headbangin’ rock straight through, and an extra star for the 45 seconds of Sweet Child alone.

Profane, grimy, and messy

I don't know. It's a classic album but didn't do much for me. Guns N Roses is a good band, they just don't do much for me. Fave track: Welcome to the Jungle

One of the most popular albums in American history and this is my first time listening to it. It definitely rocks; a headbanging delight; hard rock at its hardest. "Sweet Child O' Mine" remains an anthem. Besides the other two well known hits "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City," I was fond of "It's so Easy" and "My Michelle." The lyrics on all these songs are not warm and charming, but that's rock 'n' roll I guess!

I was never a big fan of Guns N' Roses...I found their rock a little hard for my tastes. Even so, I don't know how I never listened to this album before. Listening now, I don't know what all my fuss was about...there is nothing that extreme here. The tracks are quite listenable, although I doubt I will listen all that often.

This is an old, old favorite that I used to listen to on my walkman in college. Aside from a couple of lyrics that still make me cringe, this is a brilliant piece of work. Great songs, great riffs, great vocals. I will always love it.

I pretty much ignored this album when it came out. At the time I didn’t think I liked hard rock. Somewhere became then and now I became a fan of the genre and several songs on this album, but never went back to listen to this. I’m glad to have this come up! I went into this loving “Paradise City” and “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Sweet Child Of Mine.” So going in to this listen I’m already on board with a quarter of the album. Glad I finally got around to listening to the rest. There are a lot more songs on this for me. “It’s So Easy,” the first new-to-me GNR song I’ve heard in decades, had me at the first chorus. So much talent in this band... The vocal performance in “Mr. Brownstone” shows real versatility. I love the different sound. “My Michelle” was a pretty sweet (for them) love song leading into “Sweet Child of Mine” - a song that I’ve never tired of hearing. APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION is sex, drugs and rock and roll and I like it! This listen was long overdue.

This sounded very exciting when I was fifteen (tbh I don't think I heard this one back then, except for the hits. I definitely had Use Your Illusion on tape. I and II). It still sounds quite exciting but also bloated and a bit silly. 7/10

Appetite for Destruction by Guns N’ Roses (1987) One cannot decide if this appetite for destruction is a subliminal warning or a superliminal wallow, but in any case it cannot be both. It is stuck in liminality. It is incommensurable. But it still rocks. There’s an interesting coherence and organizing principle in this album, as the first side (Side “G” for “Guns”) is lyrically dark and dangerous, while the second side (Side “R” for “Roses”) is sentimental and lustful. It’s all unified by an overarching adolescence. Depravity protesting its innocence fittingly deserves a glance, as a listener can’t help but wonder where the artist finds contentment. Money, sex, booze, drugs, and the misogynistic infantilization and reduction of the woman to an instrumentality are all tried and failed. The failure remains unacknowledged. In “Mr. Brownstone”, the heroin addict regards his dependency as a nuisance that nevertheless has its positive side. And the pornosonic “Anything Goes” is expressive of the unending hunger for new sexual experiences. All this is well performed and recorded in the hard rock métier, but the compositions and arrangements are, disappointingly, rather standard. It must be said that lead vocalist Axl Rose has a fine rock voice, and lead guitarist Slash is supremely adept. But in the final analysis, this record amounts to a talented delivery of biker bar tunes. If that’s your thing. 2/5

What a debut. Some songs that aren't so great, but they still keep the vibe going. If you like hard rock that doesn't waver on that description, it's a good album to hear. Highlight Tracks: 1, 5, 6, 7, 9

Not a fan

Not a heavy metal fan. The only one I liked was “Sweet Child of Mine”. I felt like the first 5 just ran into each other. Couldn’t tell tell when one stopped and a new started. Too screechy for me. But great album cover for 2 days before Halloween 🎃

Now this is classic rock! I was shocked to hear the F word on multiple tracks without a parental advisory so I can only imagine the young kids who's parents caught them listening to this and called it the devils music. All their best songs on one album plus some other ok hits. My appetite was quenched as I was destroyed by these balads.

The definite GNR album. I had no idea this was their debut. It's got the best of the best tracks on here too, as if it's a greatest hits. I wonder how a band or artist would feel when their first album is their best? This, obviously, rocks. There weren't too many deep cuts that I saved, but it's an enjoyable experience bolstered by the heavy hitters. I don't know if they had much depth or longevity though--I really only know the big three tracks. But I'm glad we got them all in one go; I'd be shocked if there was another GNR album on this list. Favorite tracks: Sweet Child of Mine, Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle, My Michelle, Mr. Brownstone. Album art: This one's a classic too, definitely iconic for the band. The cross seems mildly sacrilegious, but it's also on the cover of the album that contains their holy trinity of hits, so who knows. The skulls for each band member are really cool though. 4/5

This album pretty much represents GNRs legacy to me. Which is balls to the wall power, great solos and a crop of great singles. However like this album, GNR are also extremely overrated. A fair bit of the album tracks were cheesy hair metal that should stay in the late 80s. It stands out to a lot of people and I love some songs like Welcome To The Jungle, but as an album I simply couldn't get into it.

Its funny to me how much this album now sounds like electrified honky-tonk to me. In any case, it was still thoroughly enjoyable to listen to. The radio anthems that are nearly impossible to not sing along with, still hold strong, but the rest of the album is a solidly stable collection of tracks as well, that doesn't really leave much room for complaint - assuming you can get into the style at all. The production of the album is vocals and guitars forward and it's pretty obvious why (Axle, Slash and Duff - I mean, come on!). In contrast, the rhythm section could basically be any studio artists out there and I'm not sure it would feel any different. All around, a good one to revisit.

Appetite for Destruction encompasses one of those conglomerations of genres that include hard rock, glam metal, and arena rock, making up mainstream rock of the 80s and 90s (would compete with "alternative rock" following grunge's popularity). For the years prior to this album, most of albums in this realm were fairly generic and full of filler beyond a couple great hits. The big names were doing ok. Def Leppard and Bon Jovi were doing alright with just a few filler. But Van Halen got a new singer, Motley Crue hadn't come back from their debut yet, Poison relied on just their singles for album sales, and then there are the hundreds of other long haired hard rock bands that would produce one generic hit that would get a ton of Mtv rotation and then the rest of the album would try to sound exactly like that one song. The subjects were drugs, women, money, fame, whatever. Rock star junk. But Guns n Roses changed everything. They made the transition from "glam" to "hard" in mainstream rock. It was less about catchy pop hooks and riffs, and more about cohesive songs where intense emotion and engagement was supported by the vocal style, melodic shifts, and direct or confrontational lyrics. And in this album in particular, Guns n Roses mocks the traditional rock star subjects. "Paradise City" is the perfect example of both of these points. The subject is looking back, not forward, and longs for this nostalgia of a once better time. You can hear it in his voice, his pleas, his cries. I think it's genius how this song incorporates the solos, the faster pace, and stripped-down chorus at the last two minutes to enhance the desperation. Oh and I love how some of these songs just end on a bang like this. So satisfying. The album is full of great tracks. "Welcome to the jungle" is a very fitting opening that is also a very good example of everything I described above, and also eases the audience into what the album will be about. The next few tracks are all superb. Love how every instrument has its moment. No one gets left behind. Some softer songs like "Mr Brownstone" and "Sweet Child O Mine" keep the flow going, diminishing the oversaturation of the hard sound that would otherwise feel repetitive. The latter song in particular has one of my favorite guitar melodies of all time. If you play me any two second incerpt of this song, I'll immediately know the song and how the rest of the melody goes. The track ends with another great track, "Rocket Queen." Love that shift in melody and subject in the second half of the song. Weaknesses? Yeah, I said the softer ballad-like songs help diminish the feeling the repetition, but yeah when you have so many hard songs back to back, it becomes a little exhausting. And besides the two I talked about, the second side is full of duds. "My Michelle" is ok but the other three are pretty generic and don't offer much if anything to the album. Do these two points detract from a perfect score? No, honestly I don't. The first point is intrinsic with hard rock and metal albums in general, and grows after several listens. And the second point, all albums have some fillers, and it's not like they're horrible or anything. This album is highly influential and innovative, and one of the best hard rock of the 80s and 90s has to offer.

An album with three amazing singles, and not much else.

Undeniably one of the greatest album openers of all time. A lot of the rest is just a lot of your typical cock rock of the 80's. I mean, everyone knows GnR. I liked it.

The songs I already knew didn't stand out so much to me, but the newer ones sounded so refreshing to me. The energy was through the roof and I couldn't help but have a good time.

Perfect

For me, Guns & Roses falls into the same category as bands like AC/DC and Aerosmith. These are basic, meat and potatoes rock 'n roll bands that revel in obviousness and basic hooks. But from the very opening bars of Appetite for Destruction, the competence of Axl Rose and company is never in question. The band is extremely tight, as if they had been playing these songs in bars for the previous five years. The antics of Slash and Izzy Stradlin wouldn't make titans like Eddie Van Halen or Rhandy Rhodes lose any sleep, but their snarling leads never lack conviction and they're concise and tasty. You could say the same thing about the songcraft. I hate to sound like a broken record, but Appetite for Destruction is a consistent, perfectly realized, rock record of limited ambition. Personally, it bores me to tears, but there's no denying that it's accomplished.

Still holds up. Great fucking metal album. Slash is a guitar god and I finally got to see them all just a few days ago.

Great Rock album, awesome of course as a debut album, but overall it has three great songs, couple of good songs and the rest of the songs fall off, being a three ish, so overall this combines for a good 4

Solid Rock

Obviously there are a couple of big hits on here (Welcome to the Jungle / Paradise City / Sweet Child O'Mine). The rest of the album is good. Very solid CD, not convinced it needs 5 start though.

Guns n' roses.. I knew this day would come. Over het algemeen over deze band: - ze hebben de geschiedenis, de reputatie - ze hebben de oldschool vibe - ze hebben zeker en vast de hits Maar, vaak voel ik het niet. Net zoals bij al die andere grote, ACDC. Instrumentaal, top. Riffs zitten altijd goed, gitaarwerk is vaak sterk en iconisch. Bas, zoals het moet, aanwezig maar ge hoort het niet. Drums: simplistisch, zoals altijd bij die oldschool bands. Zang... Iconisch, MAAR, niet mijn ding. Altijd zo hoog dat het na een tijd echt op men zenuwen werkt. Ik mag er echt niet te veel op letten of het stoort mij. Het album, goed, de hits steken er wel bovenuit. Ik geniet vooral van de instrumenten want de zang is ugh. Axl Rose, geen fan, en dan ging die nog zingen bij die andere ambetante zang van ACDC.. nee bedankt. had een 5je geweest als ik de zang kon verdragen.

Int begin vond ik dat ze gewoon veel de titel van het liedje herhaalde op snoei harde gitaren. Maaaaaarrrr they got hits boiiiii. Als ik dit album luister wil ik gewoon terug zoals vroeger die goede race games spelen met paradise city op de radio ooh wat genieten. Dit type Gitaren zijn nog steeds niet mijn favoriet maar ik apprecieer wel dat ze dat kunnen ( denk ik niet easy idk). Ja ja ik geef het een 4 verrassend. Maar vooral voor paradise city en my michelle b2b vibes

damn voelt als een best of album met al die hits denk dat welcome to the jungle mijn favoriet is. Ik geef het de classic status omdat dit voor mij wel echt de definitie van een rock en roll album. één klein minpuntje is dat ze soms wel de nummers wat te lang rekken; ik moet niet vijftig keer horen dat je op de nachttrein zit.

What a classic! Not every song is worth listening through but the amount of absolute bangers on this album is mind blowing. And to think it was a debut album that started off with Welcome to the Jungle!

Good old Dad rock baby

Yeah I remember seeing them back in 2018. They were okay, Greta van Fleet was way better.

At this point the GNR logo looks about as corporate to me as Oral-B and Dove. But it doesn't sound like I would expect an album from either of those companies to sound. No, this brand campaigns for grumpy teenagers' rights, and distributes tinnitus to all those who need it. Despite this being very loud and fork-scratching music, the thing I like about this album is the rythmic sluggishness within the pure energy, which is on almost every track.

Ending the 80s with a bang! I remember listening to this in my room with headphones so my parents wouldn't hear what I was listening to.

I've listened to this album front to back probably several hundred times. I have vivid memories of when this album was released. I remember my cousin and I going to The Wherehouse and him asking me "Have you heard the Guns N Roses album?" I had no idea what he was talking about. Fast forward a week and it was all I was listening to. Well, that and "Electric" by The Cult, which came out a couple months prior. Those two cassette tapes were constantly playing in my Walkman.

Q: how many good songs makes a classic album? A: 2, apparently (plus a couple of reasonably good songs) Couldn't remember anything else from this. A very distinctive overall sound, but aside from the obvious contenders for classic status, the material is very weak and mostly just about saved by Slash's savage guitar. Admittedly a cut above the opposition, but that's not saying much. I love Sweet Child and Paradise city as much as anyone and have been trying unsuccessfully to play them for years, but as to the rest, if I never heard it again that would be fine with me. Fast coming to the conclusion that there are very, very, very few albums that are consistently worth listening to.

As a kid the intro to Welcome to the Jungle blew me away and for 54 minutes the album doesn’t let up. Through to the closer Rocket Queen Appetite delivers some of the iconic rock songs of all time. In an age when Rock and Roll still ruled the world, there were new kings in town.

As a statement of intent, it doesn't get any better than this.

Fun listen. Lot of the songs could have the last minute cut.

Pretty average. The songwriting doesn't impress me too much, especially lyrically, but it does have an undeniable energy and some good riffs and detours. Nothing that excites me too much though, and I feel like a lot of the sound of this album had already been done before.

Not the first nor last band to release a debut album, that they then never manage to top. 'Appetite...' is all stellar, sleazy hardrock tunes. Honed through .years of shows and recorded by an obviously hungry band. With riffs, licks and leads to conquer the world, there was never real competion to GnR Fave track; Mr. Brownstone, with the rest of the tracks coming in close second

Probably my most listened to album of all time. I’ve never tired of it, still sounds fresh, all killer and no filler - a game changing album for me musically - I could rave on for hours about it - the easiest five stars I will ever dish out on this

One of the Best

I hate this band. They were pumping out metal years after the genre should have been shot and pissed on. I I rented a place on the beach  at Lake Simcoe where the per capita Guns & Roses fans may be a Canadian record high. I played this outside as I was firing up some dead animal on the BBQ.  I was waiting for a neighbour to saunter over with a spliff glued to his lower lip and say " Fuckin Eh Man"

Sounds the same as the last G and R album

Only really knew the hits off of this album and wasn’t sure how much I’d enjoy the rest. But it’s a really fun album. Does what it says on the tin really. And although Sweet Child O’ Mine is now synonymous with nights out in Walkabout bars, it was good to hear it in the context of the album and still has one of the best guitar solos of all time.

Welcome To The Jungle has to be one of the best album opening tracks of all time. Totally sets the mood for a great album. I'm definitely not the world's biggest GnR fan, but I do like this album. It is also hugely influential. 9/10

First ever listen but know the big tunes. Welcome To The Jungle is a work of art, one of the best album openers ever. Fucking love it. Sweet Child has always pissed me off for some reason but appreciate why it's so famous. Overall it's shit hot but not a 5 for me.

This is lowest-common denominator rock. Very simple sing along-y choruses and lyrics. One cliché piled on top of another. At least Iron Maiden were smart enough to make the lyrics garbled & unintelligible. The guitar playing is good but this music was so in the rear-view mirror in 87.

D’emblée, je ne tripais pas trop sur ce groupe. Pour moi c’est pas du métal et c’est du hard rock de matante cochones. Mmm, pues ya he dicho que el hard rock (¿esto es hard rock?) no es para mí y pues el problema que tengo con Guns N' Roses es que la voz acentúa todo lo que no me gusta jajaja. Pues las clásicas "Welcome to the Jungle" y "Sweet Child O' Mine" están okay, la última canción es buena para el cierre y "Think About You" medio la disfruté. Todo me suena igual, aunque quizá esté equivocado. No es un disco al que regresaría. 6.5/10

Hell yeah

Recuerdo cuando un compañero trajo este vinilo (este no, el de la portada original que luego censuraron) y fue un shock. En esa época de cierto éxito del Heavy-Metal de melenas cardadas y portadas espectaculares. Sin embargo, encontré un sonido diferente en este disco. Aquello era más Rock que Heavy y tenía canciones realmente buenas. Empezar con "Welcome to the jungle" y meter ahí un tema como "Sweet child o'mine".

This is a tough one to rate. On the one hand, it is insanity to think that a debut album could contain this many hits. It is up there with Boston's debut in that regard. I feel that it almost deserves 5 stars simply for that. On the other hand, I am so sick of these songs. You cannot turn on a radio station without hearing at least one of these songs once a day. 40 years later and we are still absolutely inundated with Sweet Child O Mine. I can't see myself listening to the entire album on purpose again, so I cannot give it 5.

I find it hard with this one. I have memories of absolutely loving this as a teenage and thinking it was simply brilliant. I don't enjoy it that much now. But does that mean it's a bad album? I am so confused
