Reviews (page 4 of 12)
Enjoyed it. Not my usual genre but I like it enough as I am a fan of 90s & modern r’n’b. a fun album
Great live blues album.
I have always been a big fan of B.B. King. His live albums are the best, studio albums seem too sterile for him... you have to be able to let Lucille out to play. It's strange, Spotify has a different track listing than on wikipedia or youtube. So I've listened to it a couple of times now. The difference between this and Fats Domino.... it seems so much rawer here. This is pure, unadulterated blues. This is where so many rock and rollers started. Or they should.
Ouvindo BB king sem parar
Classic, uncomplicated blues.
Beautiful live album. Really enjoyed it
wow, early ska! Yeah, Blues is good.
Smooth blues classic. The added audience is a strong vibe and you get that B.B.King knew how to connect with people on stage
10/10 - BB is the GOAT that album fuckin’ delivers
Fantastic Blues Album. Lots of fun. Definitely listen if you are in the mood for some blues.

Incredible!
Amazing lol I've performance. B.B. truly was one of the all time greatest blues musicians.
Amazing album, briiiant guitar as expected but a special mention to bass player Leo Lauchie who is outstanding all the way through.
too short by half! i mean, it's bb king, live, in 1965. i could've listened to a LOT more of that. i mean...damn
Será de las mejores versiones del señor kKing? Probablemente si.
todas son joyitaaaas
Wonderful! Love the extra live comments, the fun instrumentation, the classic lyrics. His voice is great too, Live at the regal feels like an obvious classic.
one of the best live blues albums, a hallmark of the genre
perfect. This is the best the Blues has ever been.
Awesome! Wishlist
BB was rockin and rollin the night they recorded this album, and it comes through perfectly. He’s having fun and sounds spectacular. This is new to my “best live album” shortlist.
Душевненько
awesome legend, played live even better
He is the king after all
The King of the Blues. At his sublime best. No misses here, only hits. Cracking recording considering its from 1964. One of the most captivating live recordings I've listened to in any genre. The mans was a force of nature, Powerful, passionate and perfect. 5/5
La frieguita que se ha de haber llevado quien remasterizó esto. Me encantó, complejo, pero comercial. Energía, ritmo, silencios, seducción. Voz legendaria.
There's a reason BB King is regarded as a preeminent blues musician
A great album! Just it!
Pues una joyísima de álbum. A veces pienso que el blues suena a una mezcla de sensualidad y desesperanza, no sabría bien cómo explicarlo. Igual aquí suena a pura fiesta. Y qué chingón. Pistas favoritas: "How Blue Can You Get?", "Please Love Me" y "Help the Poor". 10/10
Incredible album with a live atmosphere
Didn't think I would enjoy blues so much! Great background music
Dope. I don't think I've ever listened to a Blues album before, but to start with the best was a treat. I hope to hear a lot more blues in the future.
I love it. I like blues music, and I like music from the 60s. And the live version of this was not nearly as annoying as live rock music.
Fantastic performance
Fucking great
Great album, not a single dud track.
Fantastic! Prime bb king
Love
Good times
Classic blues album and legendary performance
Great primer in blues. They're all bops.
Nice live blues album from one of the greats.
Sweet
Pretty relaxing but can also be great music to get shit done to
Classic blues
B.B King has such infectious energy, the way he carries himself and his band is so cool to listen to, audience can’t get enough of it either. His rolling dialogue is so natural and a fun way to introduce each song. His voice is amazing, there’s no wonder they call him the King Of Blues, his skills on the guitar are also amazing, so much so people scream in you every time he plays. This live album was created so well, really makes you feel like you’re there, I’ve not listened to much blues however I feel like I’ve been spoiled already. Definitely will be listening to more of him soon, however I’ll probably be stuck on this album for a while! Forgot to mention also his band who do such an amazing job, keeping up with King and never missing a beat. Fantastic job!
tight as fuck. what a voice. wicked energy. just fun. 7.5 / 10 Best track/s: Worry Worry, Woke Up This Morning, Every Day I Have The Blues
This music is great but I do think I was born too late to fully appreciate it to the full extent it deserves. I'm sure this slapped so hard to be in the crowd tho!
The king is cool.
7.9/10 Really fun, takes a second to get into it, but pretty great when im really vibing with it.
Do ya like jazzz? This gas fr
Really really good but I wish some of the songs were longer. Right when I started getting in to some of them, they ended. Would love to hear some longer jams.
I’m still not entirely sure why some live albums make the 1001 list while others don’t, but if any artist deserves to have one included, it’s probably B.B. King. He’s an absolute blues legend, and with B.B. King, what you see is what you get — no gimmicks, just world-class blues played with feeling and authenticity. I was really looking forward to hearing Live at the Regal. This is a fantastic live album. One of the things that stands out straight away is the crowd noise, which adds so much to the experience. You can feel the excitement in the room and just how much the audience is anticipating a great performance. It gives the whole album real energy and atmosphere. B.B. King is a superb performer, and this album captures exactly why he’s regarded as the king of the blues. His guitar playing is expressive, his vocals are full of soul, and everything feels effortless. There’s a warmth and charisma to the performance that makes the whole thing incredibly enjoyable. This is also a very easy album to listen to. Even if blues isn’t your go-to genre, there’s something timeless and accessible about this performance. It’s fun, engaging and a brilliant showcase of what made B.B. King so special. Favourite tracks: Every track is enjoyable, but I particularly liked “You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now” Least favourite tracks: Everything on the album is worth listening to Album artwork: Standard live album cover
Sublime live recording. 4.5/5
Rating: 4/5 Playlist track: It's My Own Fault/ Worry Worry Date listened: 02/07/26 (during thesis!!) Listen when: Rainy Saturday or Wine Bar I love when live albums have a track or two with the singer talking to the crowd and telling a story, gives Are We Still Friends by Donny Hathaway in Live.
Don’t know much about blues but that was very enjoyable!
They don’t call him the King for nothing.
Probably the best BB King album I have listened to.
Schön jazzig, fetzt
The music is awesome, and his voice incredible. The lyrics sometimes made me cringe a bit, and it does date the whole thing. I won't be too harsh, cause man this is singing
He works the crowd so well and you can tell they're super into it as a result. This is one of those albums where the crowd noise adds to it.
Bluesalbums has usually been a tough challenge to work through for me, particularly when it has been live. This album is something else, though. The songs are more straight to the point and more varied, and the solo/jam-parts doesn’t go on forever. I enjoyed this and it deserves a good score.
𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 is one of the best early live albums I’ve heard. More than sixty years later, it still captures the excitement of being in the room as B.B. King works his way through the set. His guitar playing is superb, but what really stands out is how effortlessly he connects with the audience. The album never feels like a document of a performance. It feels like a performance. The crowd reacts to every joke, every vocal line, and every guitar phrase, giving the record an energy that many live albums struggle to capture. My only complaint is that it’s far too short. Just as the concert really finds its groove, the album is already over. Still, if you want to hear why B.B. King became one of the defining figures of the blues, 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 makes a very convincing case.
A great live album from a terrific musical talent.
Although it is a live album, I think it actual works to it's advantage in this case. This is a fantastic album and when it comes to the blues BB is King!
I think the blues is best heard live and this record certainly reinforces that belief.
This really isn't for me, never cared for blues. That said, this is entertaining. Would have been great to see this live. Also, where can I get a $10 dinner? Why did no one ever tell me that it was an option to go upside my woman's head?
What’s with all the live albums? Yeah, I just don’t know. This is the only B.B. King. And… well, it’s strong. It has all the strengths that this exercise has made me see in the live album. The feeling of a moment. The feeling of the performer AND the man. But, a studio album really does have advantages in quality. Arrrgh. 4 Boolean:True
Wait big band with BB King? Frikkin cool
The king.
really lovely
Erg goede live blues plaat. Goede uithalen in de zang. Soms opzwepend; niet die hele langzame blues nummers, maar lekker up tempo. Blues is best gaaf.
Masterclass in performance✨
B.B. King is the man and listening to him play the blues is a joy.
Don't beat your wife fellas.
I think this is one genre that is almost always better with a fully live setting, just feeding off the energy of the crowd.
This is another tough one. I think I'll give this one a "high" 4 stars, although 5 stars is tempting, in part because of 3 kind of sentimental reasons: 1) Chicago connection: the Regal Theater was a musical landmark, on Chicago's South Side, 2) Granddad connection (I recall that Granddad told me that he is quite fond of track 4, "How Blue Can You Get" - the live version from the Regal that's on this album, and 3) this is another album where I now own the album that Granddad owned. The music is blues, of course, but slick, modern (as of 1964, anyway), electrified blues. I think that slickness is part of what keeps me from liking this album enough to give it 5 stars. And yet, I must admit, it was probably a very entertaining show at the Regal, on November 21, 1964, and I envy the people who were there to hear and see it. So, as I said, I give this a "high" 4 stars.

BB has such a presence. A great live blues album. 3.7/5.
BB King is a legend and everybody needs to hear him. The audience, not so much.
surprisingly fun
Simple raw lyrics sung sweetly and powerfully over smooth guitar and horns.
Wow, that's so... I don't think I have anything else to say.
It's a nice short blues album of one of the best blues players. Good energy, but ultimately, all blues start to sounds similar
This is a classic blues album, and the sound quality was surprisingly good for a live recording made in 1964. The album was recorded at Chicago’s Regal theatre. Included on this record is one of BB’s big numbers, “Sweet Little Angel”. Overall this some quality old music.
Didn't get the title of King for no reason.
live blues album was good for this rainy saturday.
BB King is great live, who knew?
My biggest issue is that there isn’t more BB King. 34 minutes is criminally short.
This was better than I anticipated. BB King was funny and engaging. Songs were fine. I wouldn't rush back to it, but I enjoyed the time I spent with it. It's music from another time. 4 stars
Despite not being a big blues fan, this is enough of a raucous good time for me to still get on its wavelength.
2 live albums in a row and a rather big quality gap between them
good energy and momentum great instrumentation energetic crowd smooth voice of bb king
I’m a sucker for blues music, and this was a good one. IMHO, blues is best in a live setting, so this is one of the few live albums where I don’t care about the crowd and the banter; that’s all part of the experience and the raw quality of a live blues musician. ‘Sweet Little Angel’ was the best track, but most of them are pretty solid; didn’t care for ‘Please Love Me’ though. Overall, a good (almost great) listen that will garner a 4/5
Overall: 3.75 (rounded to 4) Consistency: 4 Enjoyment: 4.5 Virtuosity: 4 Originality: 2.5 1. Every Day I Have the Blues – 5 2. Sweet Little Angel – 4 3. It's My Own Fault – 4 4. Can't have this type of list without at least 1 BB King album. Not the biggest fan of Live albums but can't deduct from the awesomeness of BB for that.
Everyday I Have the Blues - prato da bateria, guitarra (BB king) e baixo envolvendo. Sweet little angel - solo de guitarra, com o prato (Sony Freeman), órgão baixo (Duke Jethro), música cresce com Saxophone (Johnny Board/ Bobby Forte) e Trumpet (Kenny Sands), fecha com solo de guitarra. How blue can you get? - o saxofone fazendo dueto com a letra da música e o prato/bateria dando cadência. A força na qual ele canta o encerramento parte da música. You done lost tour good thing now Help the poor A forma que a história é contada, a conexão entre as músicas - uma experiência blues. B. King faz piadas, pede atenção para suas letras, faz diversos comentários e ainda dá conselhos pra homens e mulheres, com gritos do público indo a loucura.
good c:
Late night listening.
What a great time. Favorite Songs: How Blue Can You Get?, Please Love Me
Love this album. The crowd actually makes it fun, i don’t always love live recordings especially older ones. Sweet little angel is one of my favoritesss
This is pretty cool.
Det va gøy! På den måten jazz e gøy gøy gøy.
It was really good and I love the blues and jazz so I really liked it, but not perfection.
Vaya maestro del directo. Blues crudo de los 60, de esos como James Brown que conviertieron los conciertos en obras de teatro. 3,5/5
I really liked this album. I knew BB King was a great blues guitarist, but I didn't know he had such a cool voice. Almost gave this 5 stars.
King, indeed.
Gets the blood bumping. Full of energy and King lays it all out there. What a performer. The bands sounds great too, not too loose but certainly not stuffy. The crowd eating it up enhanced my enjoyment. I’m thankful this was recorded so well.
I hate the background noise in old recordings. And I firmly believe you need to be a fan in order to love a LIVE album. But god damn it! BB is really the King. I was hating the sound when I started listening to this album and got hooked during the first 20 secs. Entranced by the first guitar solo and enjoyed the rest of the ride.
good very fun
This was a DELIGHTFUL and breezy live album. The band and BB are ALIVE and the crowd is having so much fun. Plus us type 1 diabetics gotta stick together.
Risch gut -1 Abzug für den üblen Hintergrundlärm
War cool, hatte es in Dauerschleife an - Weiß trotzdem nicht, ob ich es jemals wieder hören werde
Great blues album. Love the banter.
Sounds great it's pretty incredible that it's live. I don't know much about BB King's albums to know if a studio recorded effort would be worth having on the list. I guess I have more homework to do
Wonderful album, never listen to the blues
BB KING WAS A LEGEND. Man he was so smoooooth. Wish I could’ve seen him play live
Great live concert recording by a legendary blues guitarist and performer.
I mean, I wish I had been there
Pros - super clean, powerful voice; excellent blues music; great live blues performance for sure; and probably one of the best examples of the genre. Cons - it's essentially a greatest hits album; and it's a sound that I don't have a lot of reason (if that's the right word) to revisit too often today, so hard to evaluate it on the same scale as other styles and genres with which I'm more readily familiar. Could be a 5. Maybe.
A good live album. BB King plays and sings the blues well. These songs are amazing. What really drives this album is the backing band and the horns. They are perfect to complement the guitar sounds that King is playing.
Great fun. Love BB king and this has soul and energy. I just dont see live albums belonging on this list.
Great singing, great blues guitar playing, great recording. Love it
When to listen: rowdy blues moment. I love the energy. I love the music. It did all blend a bit to me but what fun!
I like the Foo Fighters, but this album was so meh. Surprised me. But I still like the Foo Fighters.
Review - what a great album. Barely 35 minutes long but every track's great. He's such a good singer, I always forget that because of all the attention his guitar playing gets. A great album, not just a great live album. Rating - 9/10 Need to hear? YES
He has a great voice and knows how to get the crowd going crazy. This is a fun album to listen to.
Solid BB, the usual
Electric
I'm sure this was a blast to be at. Favorite track: How Blue Can You Get? 3.5/5
This manages to be an album where there isn't really an individual song I'm hugely into, but the overall vibe and tone is so hitting that I can't not love it. Probably one of the best live albums I've heard, a rare case where the audience adds to the tone.
This is my first B.B. King album and it was really great. I love how King didn't do a ton of extended jams or tried to show off how well he could play the guitar. It's obvious he can play and his backing band was really good as well. I still don't know if I like the blues, but I have loved music derived from the blues that is featured on this list. This album is no exception. This is also the only B.B. King album featured in this book, which seems difficult for me to believe.
some albums are really meant to be listened to live and i think that's the case here. although blues is a bit of a hit or miss genre for me, i did enjoy this, but i felt like i was missing something huge by just listening to it on spotify instead of being there in the crowd myself. i'm sure if i was there, i'd give it a high 4. the recording is portraying the live experience the absolute best it can, but it'll never reach the real thing also unfortunately i'm a shuffle listener and i don't think any individual track in this album would sound good shuffled in a random playlist. it's a sit down and listen to the whole thing in one sitting experiences fave track: worry, worry may 28 2025 edit girl idk what you're yapping about this is great 4 ⬆️
Perfect in its style.
These old live albums so fun, just wish they were longer BB da only king
Chill
Enjoyed this. It did sort of merge quite a bit, and I couldn't tell you any particular song stood out. Still a good live album.
Possibly check out more; good guitar, King is really good performer also fantastic atmosphere created by the audience tho i feel like the album isnt for my age 2026; songs are kinda repetitive tho its respectable for really old album like this one; 4/5
Day 12 Live at the Regal by B.B. King Second live album in twelve albums so far, and I’m still not the biggest live album guy. But when it comes to artists I don’t listen to often, it actually feels like a great way to get introduced to them. I’m not a huge blues listener either, but I’ve heard about this record for years. My uncle loves blues and talks about this one all the time, so I was definitely curious. It starts off really strong, and somehow the audience actually adds to the experience instead of distracting from it. As the album goes on, you can really hear how influential B.B. King has been on so much music that came after. It honestly feels like records like this laid the groundwork for so much modern stuff, even albums like To Pimp a Butterfly. The instruments sound incredible, and the whole thing flows really well. It’s also pretty short, which helps, and I could definitely see myself coming back to it. Might even make me explore more blues from this era. Wine pairing? A bold, warm red like a Zinfandel or Syrah. Something with a bit of grit and depth, like the music itself. Food pairing? Proper comfort food. BBQ ribs, mac and cheese, something soulful and heavy. Favourite song? “Every Day I Have the Blues”. Vinyl? Yes, I’d want this on vinyl. First listen? Yes. Overall 4 out of 5.
Singin' the blues!
Well, I like the blues. I'm not a big fan of live albums, but it's getting better little by little; it's the kind of blues I like.
fun and i like how you cant really tell when a song is over and another pne begins
I honestly loved it. So much soul and somehow happiness in so much soul and blues. Yes blues is repetitive but somehow it doesn't grate to me, each time is different and has so much strength. The guitar is of course amazing. There are some moments that non-live would have been preferred but I can also see where he is really drawing from and speaking to the audience so it builds the strength in the music.
Wow! I usually don't like Blues that much but THIS is fabulous! The live energy makes it extra great and some fabulous playing.
I have never listened to blues genre album before and it is elevated here because a live audience could do more to the experience, but even so crazy with the guitar and the band and he has some powerful vocals I have heard.
Didn’t know the blues could sound so good. The screaming guitar in this paired with B.B’s voice is so good. Sweet Little Angel was my favourite here. Will be returning to this one for certain
I can go either way on live albums, but this really added to it! I think I’m not a huge blues guy though. This was still really catchy and fun.
Didn’t even realize I like the blues this much
Trasmite vibras de fiesta totalmente. Junto a las reacciones del público, se nota lo importante y significativas que son estas canciones para su audiencia y eso se capta rápidamente. Me encanta lo acalorado, rápido y festivo que puede ser el blues.
Excellent musicianship, but some of the crowd banter felt off.
4/5
Excellent look into a legend. I particularly liked how at times one song led right to the next and the band kept playing in the background. BB is a storyteller, with words, song, and his guitar playing. Long live the King!
Veldig snakkete men kul
This is a great jazz/blues album.
Can't really complain about some proper blues performed in front of an appreciative audience. And the man has a voice. What a voice.
the blues has never been one of my favorite genres but he has an incredible voice and a real stage presence that you can feel even decades later
Enjoyed it
3.75 - Good stuff. Probably the first time I’ve listened to BB.
Great Blues Album
Muy bueno!. 8
Was not paying loads of attention but sounded really really good. Possibly 5 stars but need to pay more attention.
Hei, tämähän oli hyvä levy! Tunsin B.B. Kingin maineelta, mutta en ollut ennen kuullut hänen musiikkiaan. Mieshän on kova kepittäjä, mutta myös karismaattinen laulaja. Livel at the Regal on myös onnistunut livelevynä; B.B.:n yleisölle jutustelu keventää tunnelmaa mukavasti.
Oh, so much Blues! 😎
Me gusto mucho, conocer a uno de los mas grandes del blues y su historia, muy buen album con una vibra muy alegre, me dieron ganas de escuchar blues mas seguido
I liked it! Very classic. I was impressed but nothing really stuck with me... Still worth it
honestly felt like i was in sinners when listening to worry worry... not my typical listening venture but i was not unwholly unhappy so! it's a win for sure. black excellence :)
A great album to listen to on a lazy Sunday after a busy Saturday. Enjoyed every second of it but not quite a five star album, not quite sure why, but I'm sure there's a reason in there somewhere
A cool live album but would rather hear a studio albums
not my fav kind of blues.. but its blues.. and bb king is legend... enjoying this shit at them moment ngl...
B.B KING
BB King was an exceptional entertainer, and it shows on this album. It's one of the rare live albums that sound better because it is live. I don't listen to blues often, but this is one of the best blues albums I've heard.
Geiles Album, ich glaube 4-5 Sterne
4/5
Transports you back to another time. What a voice.
Was pretty good
Loved the energy of the crowd. can't imagine feeling that hype about an artist today.
Not a big fan of the blues but I AM a big fan of this album. That guitar and that voice are incredible in any genre. B.B. leads a great band through a short history of 20th century blues classics and blows the roof off the place.
I love how loose and precise this is at the same time. Love King's approach to blues guitar too, not over the top but 100% crisp and accurate and adds so much to it all. His band sounds phenomenal here, great audio quality on the mixing. The middle of the set is the high point for me with How Blue You Can Get (electric energy) and Please Love Me.
Was more rocking that I expected
It’s not the sort of blues I go for. Big-band blues fees so abstracted from the original article. But it’s undeniably a great show.
I think that Live At The Regal is a very enjoyable album from start to finish. I always thought that B.B. King was a jazz artist when it turned out that he was actually a blues one. I still ended up really liking this style as the songs were very often upbeat and catchy and the general stage presence that B.B. King gave off added quite a lot to this album. One thing that i was a little bit confused by was the fact that B.B. King got introduced twice for some reason once in the first song (which made sense) but again in one of the later songs. I guess it is one of those you have have been there sort of things and i of course couldn't since i wasn't born yet (Hell, my parents weren't even born yet). Even still, it's a very enjoyable album and one of the 60s' better offerings. Best Song: Sweet Little Angel Worst Song: You Upset Me Baby
Quintessential blues. BB King IS blues. Solid guitar, solid vocals. (4)
Outstanding
wowza. had me dancing
An energetic and joyous experience, B.B. King has such an incredibly captivating voice and presence. I love how psyched the crowd is, I think the cheers and noise really add to the immersion. The album flows really well, with the band continuing to jam while B.B. King talks to the audience between songs. Can maybe feel a bit samey or even aimless in some places but I guess that’s kind of the point in a way. Favourite tracks were “Worry, Worry” and “Help the Poor”.
What a cool dude
I was trying to listen to The Gerogerigegege album the same day, which I succeded but I had to pause few times and B.B. King had to help me so thank you.
First of all, that voice! Just wow! His voice is nearly as good as his guitar playing, and that is saying a lot! To do this live is just amazing, this is just a beautiful performance! He comes across like he is preaching the blues, with how he talks to the crowd.
Blues, live 1964 -> 4
Виски, Нью-Йорк, костюмы, умопомрачительная красота
Not a blue guy, but this is pretty undeniable.
Excellent live album. Early BB King.
Now this is a hell of a good Blues album. Love me some B.B. King. It being a live album isn't even remotely an issue. Someone mentioned you could draw a straight line to popular music from today from this album to now and they're absolutely correct. I can't believe this album is from the 60's. Some of the guitar solos are sick. B.B. King has all the swagger and charm of Elvis, and his band freaking rocks. Some of these songs have killer riffs. My favorite of the bunch is "Worry, Worry”. It’s something about the way he talks to the audience that just makes it special. I seriously love his stage presence more so than any other live album so far. It actually makes me love the album more for once. Blues music is pretty consistently good on this list, and this is no exception. The way B.B. comes off is charming, and the way he thanks the audience after every song is also pretty cool. Even though this is a Blues album, I can't help but be very charmed by it. I will for sure be returning to this, and I'll likely be returning to check out some more of his discography. At the time of this review, Live At The Regal is the third highest rated Blues album on the site, and it shows. The music, singer, rest of the band, ambience, and especially the vibes are just immaculate. A near perfect album. It's easy to tell the songs apart, and I added at least my favorite one to the usual rotation. Also, at 35 minutes long and 10 songs, it starts over so quickly that by the time you realize it, you've already listened to the entire album like 5 times completely through. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is personal taste. I love it, but I would not always listen to it. For that reason and many more positive ones, it's getting as close to a 5 as it possibly can. I'm rating it a 4.9 out of 5, and wish the website gave us an option for half stars. A sentiment I've shared a few times and will likely continue to do going forward as needed. Great album. Blues music kind of kicks ass. Killer weekend album and just a super good album in general. Can’t wait to see what the other highly rated Blues albums have in store for me. It’s going to be pretty hard to top this!!
I enjoyed hearing BB belt out a few numbers I hadn’t heard before. Some excellent guitar work as well.
Great collection of songs and some of B.B.'s best guitar. Good backing band too and some nice interplay with the audience. Not heard before but glad I have now.
Such a great blues album. I loved it.
3,9/5
I am just a sucker for any live album where you can hear the crowd cheering and jeering and singing along. Also, I’ve long known of King as a virtuoso guitar player, but this record gave me a new appreciation for his talent as a singer (particularly evident on the tender “Worry, Worry”).
high 3.5 how blue can you get hino worry worry hino help the poor hino
Nice live album, B.B. King really is that guy.
damn that was fun
Lol bummer that the blues are perfect for me rn
A good one.
pretty good, once again not my fave genre but excellent voice/belting notes
Dang. This album slaps. I’ve always loved BB King, but I don’t ever remember listening to this album. The energy of the crowd, his voice and guitar, the band. It all comes together beautifully on this album. The recording is really good too considering it was recorded in 1965. I just wish it was longer.
Pretty cool and enjoyable overall.
Solid stuff
Great album
Enjoyable listening. Good background music for just about anything, and definite enjoyable moments. Catchy rhythm to the music.
Likely one of the best live albums I've ever heard. BB Kings intimacy with the crowd is just incredible. Sound engineering was top-notch.
Great mix of jazz along with the blues.
I have so many friends that are either way into music or they're actually in the music industry. One thing these people have in common is the love of seeing live music. Indeed that's one of the core elements of music love: the live concert setting. Real music lovers seek out this aspect of the art and they thrive on it; it feeds them, nourishes them. But one common element I've found that is confusing as all hell is their DISLIKE of recorded live music. Like, they're never going to drop in Frampton Comes Alive or Cheap Trick At Budokan or Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park. It's confusing and maddening. I, for one, welcome our live recording overlords. I love when an artist can capture lightning in a bottle and we can relive those moments forever. Am I ever going to see Led Zeppelin? No but I can hear the BBC Sessions anytime I want. Hendrix only released 4 albums but we still have dozens of live recordings to pour over and break down. Can I go check out (whatever) band who broke up or has a dead lead singer? Probably not. But I might find a bootleg of a radio show from 19-something or other. All that is just a setup for describing the brilliance of BB King Live At The Regal. It's the songs. It's the passionate performance by King and the whole band. It's also the crowd enthusiasm. The energy that comes from both artist and audience fuels this disc. This is the kind of album that (hopefully) makes people fans of live recordings.
243 albums in and I get my first blues album! I enjoyed it a lot but perhaps if blues was coming up more than 0.4 percent of the time I would notice how samey it is. Great voice and great guitar, not much else to be said.
This is a very strong blues album, and definitely one where the live crowd (and King’s interactions with them) enhances its energy and atmosphere, which are immense. The vocals and guitar naturally have the starring roles, but the whole band sounds great, especially the drummer and the horn section. Some might say it gets a bit samey, but as I’m biased by my love for the blues, I disagree. Even beyond that there’s a lot of variation of rhythm, tempo, dynamics, etc. between the tracks. The side one run from ‘Sweet Little Angel’ to ‘Please Love Me’ is particularly brilliant.
Such a great blues album, and it was recorded live. Insane. Such a fun, infectious performance, with some wonderful musicianship.
This is excellent. BB King is an amazing guitarist and this has the vibes. Forgiving it being live following our pre-album artist discussion.
Fun, energetic, good times blues.
It's a live album but it's also some damn good blues. That's what you get with B.B. King. As I've mentioned, I don't much care for live albums but I did still enjoy this one for the pure bluesiness.
Truly the king of the blues 💙
The vibe is there
Solid blues album which I enjoyed listening to.
Listening session: february 25th, while getting ready in the morning Listened to before: no Thoughts: this made me like blues more than I would’ve thought and I bet it would’ve been great to witness this live Favourite tracks: Every Day I Have The Blues & How Blue Can You Get?
He is so great
3.5 - Good
Ok vocals! Expressive, laid-back, easy-to-listen-to. Classic 12-bar blues vibes. Feels like an essential introduction to rhythm and blues, and understanding connected/related genres
Ladies and gentlemen, the king of the blues
King is one of those artists who is so prolific it’s hard to keep up with the canon. I have no idea how this stacks up to his other albums, though I’m certainly familiar with him - albeit as a later-stage artist. So it was cool to hear a younger King play the music that made him famous. Really enjoyed.
Am I a BB King fan now? Maybe, I loved half the songs and appreciate the marital advice! Hopefully there are more of his albums in the list.
60s Blues. Live album of blues guitarist. One of greatest Blues albums. Excellent entertainer, great atmospheric crowd reactions.
-1 star because it's a live album, +2 because it's BB King.
I’m not typically a fan of the genre, but this album was great! When I saw the album title I was worried that it’d be a long album, but in the end I kind of wish it had a few more tracks.
I liked this. I think music like this is so much more interesting live than in the studio. His voice is amazing and the musicianship is top notch. And the drumming is brilliant. This is the type of blues I want to hear. The fact that it's live and the band and vocals are so flawless is highly impressive. Sounds great for a 1965 recording too.
Great BB King blues!
My only problem with the Blues is that the the songs are all very similar. Similar theme, similar tempo, similar vocal styles. However, that being said, BB King does something special with it. He's an incredible band leader and musician, truly one of the all time greatest guitarist in the way that he just commands the instrument. Blues, I think, is something that almost has to live on a live album. To hear the crowd's reaction to everything that BB is saying and playing makes the experience much less abstract. He's there with the people, speaking to them. I don't think the album would be the same without that crowd.
not bad
great blues
je m’imagine premier degré dans un bar de jazz dans les années 50/60 en train de danser c’est super chouette
He’s been downhearted babe.
Great blues band.
в целом прикольно но наверное блюз просто не для или настроение было не подходящее
Superb blues record by one of the best to ever do it
made the blues popular, skilled at guitar
This was great. How may concerts has B.B. King concerted? My guess is more than 10 but less than 10,000,000.
How fun! King is great and the audience is at times just as entertaining.
What a legend. As live albums go, this is up there. I saw BB live once and got to meet him. He was sitting at a table and people waited in line to get an autograph. I was the only one bold enough to go for a handshake, which I got. I sometimes still think about how that might not have been a great idea because he kept the sharpie in his hand between his fingers and it was a bit awkward and what if I squeezed too hard and the sharpie hurt him or something? He was fine. I don’t know whatever happens to that autograph.
This is my first time listening to this album. It's just wall-to-wall solid blues, which is exactly what you'd expect from B.B. King.
Got this album on vinyl, love kt
Great live recording
I usually have less of a preference for live music but it was so cool to hear the excitement of the crowd and the parts that would get them most hyped up.
incredible! could really feel the energy through the record and he sounds phenomenal live overall really great listen
She needs to leave him alone, he can't take any more heartbreak!
8/10
I'm not usually a big fan of live albums, but damn this made it better. The soul and energy of the music and crowd was crazy.
This is the kind of album that makes me wish I had a vinyl record player. Also, probably more on the swing side than blues but the band properly gets down in How Can You Get. .... i really need to begin a vinyl collection
Nice live album. King's guitar and voice sound great, and his backing band also sounds like they're on their A game. If it wasnt for the crowd noises and King's chatter the production would almost fool me into thinking this was a studio recording. Not usually the biggest fan of this kind of piano and horn-heavy blues/R&B, but the songs here sell it pretty well and dont overstay their welcome. 8/10.
bro really feels some typa way about women
Armed with 'Lucille', a sh*t-hot backing band and likely plenty of iconic "guitar faces", B.B. King runs through half an hour of some of the finest blues guitar playing known to popular music. With a mix of his own material and blues standards from the likes of John Lee Hooker, Memphis Slim and Charlie Singleton, 'Live at the Regal' sees King and his crew follow that iconic blues formula: a slower 12-bar shuffle with empassioned vocals, led out by an explosion of a lead riff from King. No wonder he was the 'King of the Blues', as he knew how to rule every song he played with a remarkable riff emulating from 'Lucille'. Guitar playing was still trying to break free from its more basic origins by the 1960s, but the success of King, Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry encouraged more guitar players to take centre stage with solos to match the entertainment value of the vocalists, and for that, King deserves the reverence he receives. 'Live at the Regal' is a fine record of King's energetic live shows, and definitely one of the more iconic blues records out there! Best songs: Every Day I Have the Blues, Sweet Little Angel, It's My Own Fault, Worry, Worry, You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now
I don't listen enough to B B King and always enjoy it when I do.
Big band blues with BB King front and centre. I slightly prefer a more raw unrefined blues … but … this is good and slick. At times it reminds me of Ray Charles. Needless to say BB King is very talented. Low 4/5
Love the big band backing, and both the vocal and guitar delivery are excellent.
BB King live album gets a low 4 for me, I love a good live album and this captures the vibe so well, all the tunes are played as well as I’d expect from him and the band and it’s just good throughout
Yep still loving these live albums. So much fun and so much energy even all these years later. “Help the Poor” is most certainly where “Black Magic Woman” came from but i can’t find anything online and feel crazy for that. Favorite song: How Blue Can You Get?
what a vibe reminds me of blues mondays in sw
Coolt med en ung BB King, har jag nog aldrig hört förut. En fyra.
Not really a blues listener, but I recognize class when I encounter it.
Actually enjoyed it, not completely my thing, but you have to admire the music and fabulous guitar playing. The precursor to rock.
I really enjoyed this!!
i want to explore this genre more. i’ve never known about this artist until now. i feel more cultured. fav song: worry worry
It’s BB King! What can I possibly say that hasn’t already been said. He’s amazing. This is fun and although I don’t seek out this music, I always enjoy when I hear it. Good times all around. Makes me wish I could travel back in time to frequent a cool dive bar and see him live. Can’t pick a standout. 01-28-2026
i knew Blues Boy King was a singer, but hadn’t really heard anything outside of when he was pretty old. it’s so insane the greatest blues guitarist of a generation also had a voice like Donny Hathaway. i found it interesting how short a lot of these tunes are. would have guessed more improv/solos. also a plus he told the fellas not to hit their wives. one can only conclude this was a radical departure from the norms of the 60s
Really love the love album vibe !
Classic live blues. Electric
A very solid album, I can't say I am an extreme fan of blues music, but I do understand how monumental it was to developing various genres of music. I really like the instrumentals and have heard a few of the songs from the album (as covers though). Help the Poor was the album highlight.
8/10 i love blues
his youthful voice shines,
Enjoyable hard rock.
This was a great time capsule, and a young BB King has some vocal chops I had never recognized — though he did rely on one particular trick throughout. The arrangements were unexpected too, as much focus on horns and the overall presentation as on the guitar. I guess I'd have liked to hear more guitar work, and I am not in love with the record, but a 4-star seems like a better representation than a 3 for what I got from this album.
Yeah, there's a lot to like here. I don't know that he's my favorite guitarist or anything, but he has tons of charisma and his tone is fantastic. The songs are fine, mostly variations on the "woman done me wrong" theme, but I guess that's the blues. Still, the vibes are strong and a good time seems to be had by all. (Though the "don't go upside your woman's head because that'll just make her smarter" line really stuck out like an ugly, horrible, distractingly painful thumb.)
Swing
Beautiful blues
So I tend to roll my eyes when someone gushes about how deeply the blues moves them. Really. It's just some repetitive 12-bar blues patterns and indulgent lamenting about broke down happiness. But I get it, undeniably, B.B. King's style of guitar flourish and heart-felt hollering moves me. Plus there's something to a live performance like this where the audience loses its shit from the energy in the air.
Soul album it was ok

Um clássico, música boa.
a good time
Absolute fire heat the whole way through, as B.B. King weaves stories and plays a mean electric guitar over some soulful blues numbers. My only wish is that it went on even longer than just 33 minutes.
This man was goin’ THROUGH it. Really fun album overall. The band kept surprising me because I was expecting solo old guy with a guitar playing blues progressions. Crowd seemed to be having a blast too! (Also shoutout to Mr. King for advocating against domestic abuse!)
Not really a blues guy, but the sound quality on this live album was tremendous. 3.5⭐️
strong mixing grand instrumentation groovy guitar lines nasty guitar riff on “sweet little angel” “you upset me baby” hihat work drum rolls “help poor me” tango bounce
I really enjoyed listening to this album. As someone who hasn't listened to a lot of Blues in the past, I felt like was a great introduction, and the fact that it's a live album really adds to the energy and brings even more life to the music.
Not my favorite BB KIng album, but it's good.
What an absolute joy this was. Between the incredible voice, super impressive guitar playing and stage presence, BB King really shines on this live record. The live aspect really adds something extra, hearing how loved he was by his fans was a nice touch. This is the first time I've ever listened to BB King and I'm hoping for more to come.
pretty fun listen!
