Reviews (page 3 of 12)

Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I was aware of B.B. King from his appearances on Carson and in commercials for Burger King and McDonalds. He was Blues Grandpa. The elder statesman of The Blues. By the time I saw him play live in the 90s, he did everything seated in a chair and the audience was polite—quietly listening and clapping the "appropriate" amount between songs—as would befit a trip to the Blues Museum. What's really interesting about this album is hearing a 40 year-old BB King absolutely killing it and hearing an audience that was as raucous and fervent as teenagers at the height of Beatlemania. This is BB King at the height of his powers. This album is a document of the reason he became the legend he was. 5 stars

Brilliant live recording

The King Himself, nothing else to add; great performer, master of his craft and with an incredible dominion of the stage. Relic of a better past (musically); this is The Blues and nothing can compare to it.

Absolutely phenomenal live recording.

Have been able to see BB King and Lucille perform live a couple of times - he is the real deal!

One of my all time favorites 💙

Отличный джаз, настоящий олл скул

A perfect blues album.

As a guitar player I’m pretty sure if I give this album anything under a 5 some Illuminati will show up at my house …

Brilliant.

God, I love the blues. I don’t know of any other type of music, other than maybe jazz, than can so instantly hit you right in the soul. But unlike jazz, with the blues, you always know exactly where it’s going, but you never know how it’s going to get there. And that’s what makes it instantly accessible and familiar but eternally fresh. And B.B. King live at the regal is about as good as it gets. And as good as he is, the band might even be better. The best of the best at their best. 5/5 Highlights: It’s My Own Fault How Blue Can You Get? Worry, Worry

Yasssss

Great live album.

Excellent album, all the instruments were really expressive. Loved the guitar and the subtle piano backing in some of the songs like "Worry, Worry". Great writing and emotional singing, all around a very solid blues set. I can see why BB King is regarded as one of the greatest blues guitarists and singers. Only critique was that there was an intro in both track 1 and 6. I think it's fine to sample separate performances on a live album but would have cut out the second intro, when it played I had to double check that the album wasn't on shuffle. Favorite songs were: 3. It's My Own Fault 7. Worry, Worry 9. You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now 9/10

Brilliant, no skip album, incredible voice 9/10

👍🏻

Electric, simple, legendary

I've been super against live albums on this list so far, but I have to admit that it improves this. Must have been an amazing concert.

B.B. King shows why he's king of the blues. The crowd love it, he has soul, he struts and faces get melted. How can you not enjoy this album? Love it. Best Tracks: Sweet Little Angel; How Blue Can You Get?; Please Love Me

Fantastic!

This is way more fun than your typical blues record and the guitar technique is exquisite.

bb king, legend. Amazing solos and great singing in this live album. Favorite track: How blue can you get other picks: sweet little angel, it’s my own fault, you done lost good

Mit Schwung und Spiellaune begleitet uns der Vollblutmusiker B.B.King durch den Rock'n Roll Blues und beherrscht sein Handwerk wie kein Anderer. Ich staune, bin begeistert und schwebe in andere Sphären. Danke Mr. King.

I mean, it's BB King playing the blues, live. Always 5 stars.

One of the best damn blues records you'll ever hear. Very easy 5.

That’s an extremely easy 5. Sometimes, you just get really encapsulated in an album to the point where you’re about as in sync with the music as the band was when they recorded it, and I hit that point of sync incredibly early on and never once lost it through the rest of the album. Just incredibly captivating stuff here, at least for me; I thought the crowd was red hot and never really cooled down throughout the album, on either half. I thought the band was on fire throughout the whole thing. I’ve never heard B.B. King’s voice or guitar, but I knew about the status both of those instruments held, and I’ll be damned if it didn’t live up to the almost mythical things I’ve read. I think that sums it up, really; it’s just an electric album, and the energy is incredibly easy to feel through the speakers or the headphones or whatever way someone might choose to listen to this. It’s a very fast 35 minutes, and I was hung on every last note, beat, vocal, and lyric throughout the whole thing. Absolutely worth the listen. Very, very easy 5.

So we had the King today! There are a lot of things that can be said about BB King, his songs and his legendary guitar licks, played by the equally legendary Lucille Guitar. But what I wanted to highlight about this album, is precisely the fact that it is live. The interaction with the audience and the stories he tells between songs (sometimes even during the song) give an impressive feeling of immersion, apart from the fact that this type of interaction between audience and artist no longer happens nowadays. BB King and the audience are almost talking to each other, as if they were at a Sunday barbecue sitting around a bar table. A very intimate atmosphere! Love it, 5 stars!

THIS MAN! What a voice, what a talent, what an entertainer! This is some real live blues and I am HERE FOR IT!

Still the king of the blues for me. Awesome

Great live album, one of my all time favorites.

I think I like live at cook county jail better but still great

Masterful. One of a number of 60s live albums that are not just excellent but often represent the best of an artist - ie - Dusty Springfield, James Brown, Johnny Cash, Grateful Dead - displaying what truly makes them unique. Live at the Regal shows what BB King does in a way that no one else does it. The blues have never sounded so joyous.

One of the greatest blues performers performing one of the greatest blues performances in one of the greatest blues cities in the world, what else can you say?

There are few things better than seeing live blues. Personal enjoyment: 5/5 Relevance to this list: 5/5

Blues masterclass. Loved it.

Man those blues

Bardzo dobre. 5/5 Miły, ciepły głos BB, piękne instrumenty i klimat albumu koncertowego. Zazwyczaj za nimi nie przepadam, ale ten jest dobry.

Amazig

That slapped!

Will be king forever

Great! Listen to again!

That was wonderful. One of those - I wish I was there - kind of albums.

One of the best live albums ive listened to

Riley Blues Boy King. On the Mount Rushmore of guitar greats. This live album is a testament to that fact. I'm not sure how Completely Well and Indianola Mississippi Seeds have been left off this list. But, those albums and this one have been in my listening rotation for a long time. An absolute classic in my book. Easy 5 stars.

An all time classic

B.B. King was the King of the Blues, and perhaps the most influential electric guitar player of the 20th century. He led his band with his rich voice and his expressive guitar solos. His crisp rhythms and extensive use of string bending taught the world what a solo guitar could do. Live at the Regal is an incredible recording of B.B. in the middle of his career, and at the height of his power.

Great album!

I love blues, I love B.B. King, I usually don't like live albums, but this is an exception!

Great album but not too dissimilar to others I’ve heard from BB. My guess is this was the 1st of his with this sound. So context plays a role in its place.

A really strong live album that made me feel like I was transported to the show itself. BB King seems so charismatic here and the musical talent on display from all involved is top-notch.

Great music with good vibes. The fact that a nice meal was $10 is insane. Imagine being considered rich for being able to afford that and a penthouse that probably cost a few grand. #livelikeB.BKing

I'm mostly struck that in between while the Rolling Stones were establishing themselves as the kings of Blues rock, albums like this were released. B.B. King is incredible at this show. I found the first track phoned in, but that had it's own charm. Everything else is over the plate home runs. This is great top to bottom.

So much soul and feeling - a live album is the only way to capture B.B. King’s talent and emotion.

Wish all blues was like this. Beautiful crowd reactions.

Legend.

I loved this so much.... and I immediately need to go out and hear live music regularly. I miss living in Chicago!

What's not to like? BB King is the absolute king of getting the most out of as few notes as possible, his vibrato is just exquisite. Lots of wonderful songs played with bags of energy, this album is an absolute gem.

I had never heard this one. It's great. Wonderful sound, great energy and impressive recording quality. One of the best live albums I've heard.

With its exceptional musicianship, raw emotion, and electrifying live energy, this album continues to captivate audiences and inspire musicians more than half a century after its release. Despite its relatively short duration and limited repertoire, "Live at the Regal" remains an essential listen for anyone who appreciates the power and beauty of the blues.

I really enjoyed this album, the recording was so good I felt like I was there!

Ain't many better than BB King and Live At The Regal delivers some of the best blues sounds ever. The musicianship, the voice (my GOD the voice), the skill is off the charts, and the live environment lifts it because the folk in that room sound raucously excited to be there and to be seeing and hearing such quality, and so they should be. This is so good, I'm giving it a 5, it's 60 years old and as good as anything in the entire time in between, plus it's foundational and inspired a ridiculous number of genres and sub-genres since.

not bad bluess

Required listening for learning to improv on guitar

Impressive as hell! Beautiful.

Wow ..

I've seen BB King perform live, but listening to him wail in his prime, it's clear why he had the enduring legacy and respect I saw him enjoy in his twilight years. He is a force of nature — in both his playing and singing.

The King! Backing band is tight and King is sure putting on a show. The crowd is super into it, I love the call & response moments. Not only is the singing very emotive, but King can make that guitar sing.

Outstanding album. Have only ever heard studio stuff by the great man. Live recording really opens the music up.

Me encanta

5. keis album so oft glost glaub. everyday i have the blues, same BB. wiener gitarre spielt wiener singt wie sini band groovt i brüel. how blue can you get isch ein vode beste momentufere liveplatte woni kenn. wie d crowd mitgoht.

He’s one of the best. Just absolutely killer blues. Not as much guitar in this live album as I’d have liked but it was awesome to hear people in the audience screaming for him. Hard to imagine people reacting like that to the blues today

Excellent encapsulation of what counts as true blues songs. Sounds like this is either a compilation of performances or a concert being played out of sequence. Not negative enough to take away from the performance though.

Deserves to be on here for the end of "How Blue Can You Get?'. Wow. Now THAT's blues singing. Very fun to hear B.B. King in his prime just giving this show his absolute all. The guitar sounds great, he sings with passion, and the horns are just a phenomenal addition to the overall sound. We were lucky enough to see him live in 2010, but this was certainly not what we saw then. The way he can pull the guitar strings with such finesse on here is pretty astounding. It's really hard to get that kind of precision and on full display here.

I was beginning to think this list was really 1001 mid as fuck albums but this proved me wrong

Onwijs zwoele, heerlijke vent. Top live album, echt een goeie opname. Chatter tussenduur is ook gezellig, je zit echt in de zaal. 5!

Love, love, love this album. Music and banter are so good and just the right touch of crowd noise to almost feel your sitting in the Regal theater as well.

Reminds me so much of my trip to Memphis recently with my brothers. Experiencing his blues club and imagining him play on his own stage makes me have more respect for who he was what he left to the whole world.

Pretty darn enjoyable, and an excellent recording of a live concert from a long time ago.

The King of Blues! Can’t go wrong.

I loved rediscovering this album. A real pleasure voice music everything. Very restful.

Best ever

Elite album. 10/10

That is an awesome album. It is a snapshot in time! There is no one as good as bb king. Fortunately, I got to see him live in his later years. The man can play the guitar and perform.

B.B. King and his band burn the fucking house down on this killer live recording. This was so fun to listen to. He's a legend for a reason - the talent and charisma are off the charts.

BB King = very, very good.

I never had listened to B.B. King and had thought he was a jazz guy of the period. But he is blues all the way and this album was awesome. Definitely a charismatic performer with a great voice and surprising guitar skills. Really enjoyed this with my favorites at It's My Own Fault and How Blue Can You Get?.

King of the blues! This is a great album. Captures his live performance well.

Not a huge blues fan, but god damn, what a good singer and musician. Loved the entire album.

soul und bläser ag their best

I always enjoy Jazz and Blues, but never really knew how to tell if something was good or just okay until this app started helping me tell things apart. And I have to say, this live performance is one of the most dynamic, talented and emotional I've ever heard. The interactions with the crowd enhance the experience to make it fully immersive, and the range of King's voice (I just knew of him as a guitar player before this) is phenomenal! Truly a great album.

Solid blues

Amazing, the KING

How much more would I enjoy it if this project were about a book called "1001 Old Electric Blues Albums to Listen To Before You Drown Yourself In Bourbon"?

The king don't miss.

I don’t know enough history about jazz around this time to give a full appreciation to what B.B. King and the band had performed here. Amazing jazz and blues. Not a dull moment, and man, what a voice on that man. The recording itself is quality as well. Puts you right in a dimly lit theater with dressed tables watching the lit stage. Standouts: Sweet Little Angel, How Blue Can You Get?, Worry, Worry, Woke Up This Mornin’, and You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now.

Fantastic blues album.

This was an absolutely excellent album. There was so much depth and feeling behind all parts. The instruments and vocal were just incredible.

Wow blown away by this one.

Schönes Album. Ich mag Blues sehr. Und B. B. King ist ein Meister seines Faches.

Excellent album

Downloaded-classic singing but not too much, great jazz that’s not too out there. 5/5 super enjoyable.

5/5. All other words are simply platitudes.

My mood ring went from black to violet.

Lucille and BB five the crowd what it needs.

Any live album I feel has an edge over any other because all music should be heard live. Studio albums are the new invention while live music has been the norm for majority of human existence. For B.B. King to be one of the best blues artists and then be able to perfectly capture the feel and experience of his live performance makes this a perfect album. It is a perfect album.

he's the king! fav track: Please Love Me (Live At The Regal Theater/1964)

Day52 - i don’t have the blues everyday but i can listen to the blues everyday

I was hesitant about the live albums on this list but most of them are great and this one is just delightful. Loved it.

By the sounds of this I’m not sure anyone has ever enjoyed playing music more than this man. Love BB King and it’s always good to be reminded of why.

Live albums are so great. BB King seems like such a great entertainer. Really turned those blues around and made them fun. All about it.

Fabulous. Truly the 'king" and deserving of respect. The guitar work is immaculate. Best line on the album - I gave you seven children and now you tryin' to give them back...

Excellent love renditions of these blues classics. He defined much of what mainstream knows of the blues. Great accompanying band and good crowd noise His unique way he bends the strings makes it easy to know it’s BB playing Lucille Can’t get better

Recording almost makes me think I’m in the audience. Classic Blues, guitar, horns and B.B. vocals rate this 5. Blues but joyful!

Such a powerful voice in terms of vocals and guitar. I love the in between banter and the crowd reactions. One of the most influential and important blues albums

Glorious!

Wow, this album is so brass forward. Kenneth Sands on trumpet is heavily featured along with whomever is on saxaphone and BB's guitar is really outshined. Still, this is an awesome album with some really great beats.

This was great. Loved the vibe and the coolness of it.

One of my favorite live albums. Didn’t disappoint with this latest listen.

A classic

It was the soundtrack at my wedding cocktail hour. An all time classic.

a Classic

I LOVE ME SOME BLUES AND BB KING KILLS IT ON HIS FUNNY AND GROOVY LIVE RECORD 5/5 KEEP IT COMING

Some of these are actually funny as well as sounding fantastic.

Best one yet!!!

King of the Blues, for sure!!!!

Such a good album

Wow - what a great album, from start to finish! I've loved B.B. King (and saw him live a year or so before he died) but wasn't familiar with this album. In "Everyday I Have the Blues", the album starts right out exactly as you would expect B.B. King to start out. Great guitar in this typical blues song. I especially liked "How Blue Can You Get?",

Love this one. Found this note on wikipedia: "Jethro was originally scheduled to play the organ, but after his organ broke, King instructed Jethro to play the piano.[12] When Jethro said he did not know how to play the piano, King replied "Well, just sit there and pretend — that's what you do most of the time anyway!"" Really loved his piano playing - it's kinda impossible to imagine this album without the kinetic nature of an acoustic piano. I tend not to be over the moon for live albums, but the energy of this one makes a really strong case for them. It fits the blues style perfectly - and the 35 minute runtime really leaves you wanting more!

Absolutely astounding, rip-roaring Blues. This one goes straight into heavy rotation. Incredible!

Wow! An education in the Blues. I understand why this album has been arguably deemed the greatest Blues album of all time. Loved every track, even the last one that was a Bossa Nova. That was fun. Thanks BB and RIP!

This was fun! He's a great singer and fun upbeat songs. I'm not normally into jazz/blues, but I like it.

I’m usually not a fan of live albums but you can just tell everyone there is having the time of their lives.

This is what a live blues album sounds like. Take note Mr Clapton.

Awesome blues album

Classic.

Loved this one!

Delicious old-school blues, loved the energy of the crowd in the live recording.

Love BB it was an incredible experience of live music recorded

I own this on vinyl and it is a stone cold masterpiece.

Fantastic!!

Live records are fun and all, but this is on a whole other level! Great musicianship and BB showing why he is so highly acclaimed. This album makes me regret never joining a blues band.

Love it, great album

I love this, my favourite so far.

I love BB King. Generally I’m not a fan of live recordings but the blues tend to be an exception for me.

BL: BB King is someone I’m very much aware of but I have not heard this specific live record. Though I’ve heard it mentioned in discussion before as one of the best live records of all time, so I am excited to hear it. AL: This was a rocking listen. The one take with audience interaction was absolutely mind blowing, as I’m sure a record of its calibre was of the time. In the age of the internet and the digital sphere it’s so easy to forget stuff like this was truly revolutionary only 60 or so years ago. I’d love to have seen the mic’ing and tech set up on this: will have to research in my spare time. Absolutely awesome, and a good selection of songs. FT: “Sweet Little Angel”, “Worry, Worry”, “You Done lost your Good Thing Now”, “Help The Poor” 5/5

Heerlijk geswinged op goodmorning

Can smell the cigar smoke and whisky. Glorious.

I don't know if I've always just been a fan of the blues and that's why I like jam band music so much or if I like the blues so much now because I've been into jam band music. I'm hearing tons of influence that the blues had on the Grateful Dead. Did American jam bands just appropriate jazz & blues? This album is so good. Will definitely be revisiting.

phenomenal it's a shame this is the only BB album on the list

Great live blues album

-absolutely Love a live album -and BB KING? so excited -his voice is just TOO GOOD! -all the girls screaming after some of those notes in sweet little angel is so real and true -i’m going to be honest i have never been to church but i imagine this is what it feels like -the crowd is so RESPONSIVE and i love it -and his voice? i feel like i am being MOVED somewhere idk where -i literally am ascending listening to this -that is how i know this is a solid 5 stars -wow!!!! BB KING!!!!!!! this deserves 5 stars 100%

It's B.B. King. Nothing else to say.

-jazzy -fun -lively -great quality recording for mid-60's -good interaction with the audience -(one of?) the first B.B. King albums I purchased -incredible urgency of guitar and of voice -

I rated the live albums of both Sam Cooke and Johnny Cash (both of which I really like) at a 4 because they lacked what I like about a polished album as a work of art. Nirvana was the exception here because of the stripped down arrangement and covers, great album. Now, something about this one, the way King owns the whole thing, the crowd participation, the dynamics, and the iconic blues guitar going on. I love the way that he sings with no guitar and then just solos with so much emotion. “I’d like to see play a little bit.” This is so cool, great atmosphere. I gotta go 4.5 on this one. A close childhood friend loved BB King, so this one goes out to her. RIP

An excellent first album. Classic rhythm and blues. BB King's voice with the instruments in the background is nothing short of iconic

Great guitar playing, love the little breakdowns to talk to the crowd. Amazing voice, stellar rhythm. For being shorter song I don't feel that they take away from the experience. It's my own fault Worry, worry You done lost your good thing now Those tracks stood out

Great live show, you can feel the energy of the band and the crowd. Definitely going to mix this into the regular rotation.

Very very good album. Not something personally that I will go back to. But just incredibly great music. My favorite song was easily You Upset Me Baby.

An absolute gem, a hero, a smooth bluesy guitar fella. The sort of blues that makes you scrunch your face with tight enthusiasm, like you ate a spicey gumbo or someone put a lemon up your bum. I love the testifying, confessional nature of this era of rhythm and blues, pure religious.

i thought i didnt enjoy live albums..... this list is proving otherwise

I cannot believe what I’m listening to. Of course I know who BB King is, and I’m sure I’ve heard him periodically throughout the years, but HOLY SHIT this album is magic. I’m not really a blues fan, but this entire album had me bouncing my legs, nodding my head, making faces at the nasty guitar parts, and laughing out loud at the brilliant lyrics. Listening to BB King bending those strings and screaming into the mic, one can see a simple, straight line to today’s rock music. I listen to a lot of technical “math” metal, and the influence of BB King is so clear. This album is why I decided to start this project. It is genius that I have somehow missed, but my life is better now having heard it. Epic, magical, genre-defining, massively influential, masterpiece. 5 stars.

He's the King, what do you expect?

Great!

amazing

One of my all-time favourite albums. BB hams it up something rotten, but to say the audience lap it up is something of an understatement. The atmosphere is electric, I’m imagining people being carried out on stretchers.

Didn't think Steely Dan would be contested as my favorite album anytime soon. Hearing the live performance and the crowd really made listening to this great, on top of B.B. King being just fantastic.

Love that this came up today. Enjoyed listening and will add it to my playlist. Heard so many samples sounds and lyrics.

almost as good as Duke Ellington at Newport. these live albums are great, energetic and have really good performers

Such an amazing performer. Great to hear it captured in a live album.

What a legend. My dad loves BB so I heard this a ton growing up and it’s super nostalgic. Killer band killer playing killer singing. Would’ve loved to have seen this show.

So so good

Fun to listen, great mood elevator. Good for end to end listening, full concert experience.

Excellent

Great album, incredible guitar playing as expected.

Every Day I Have The Blues, It's My Own Fault, How Blue Can You Get

This is much more the kind of blues I can enjoy. The backing band, especially the horns, sounded great while still allowing King’s guitar and voice to be the stars.

Phenomenal album. Just what you'd expect from BB King in his prime. I had the pleasure of seeing him at the House of Blues in 2005 and he was still putting on a great show!

personal fav from the last few days. made me feel like a 80 year old reflecting on my life with my high school sweetheart.

Incredible

An amazing live album, a model for any live recording. LIstening is as close as you can get to being there. A blues great at the height of his powers with a

absolutely loved it, the energy is great and he really goes for it on the vocals, then backs up up with super slick guitar work - listened twice and will again

I had never heard any of these songs, but found it a cohesive collection for a live album. Really loved the overall vibe and sound. The iconic BB King guitar is always amazing to me

Kto by przypuszczał ze blues to nie tylko dzem. 5/5 za krotkie

For me, 5 stars. BB King is a blues genius. everything just sounds so good. 5 stars.

can't go wrong with B.B. King

Loved it. BB is always a great listen

Had to keep reminding myself that this is live. Must have been a special experience.

Finally something with soul. I loved this & it reminded me to revisit one of my favorite genres. I had a good Blues listening streak long ago & would go to a couple of Blues bars in Nashville, including B.B. King's. His voice & guitar playing are recognizable from the first note. Just brilliant stuff.

Didn’t know how many hip hop artists had sampled that album. Very cool

Every Day I Have the Blues: Perfect- 10/10 Sweet Little Angel: Perfect- 10/10 It's my Own Fault: Perfect- 10/10 How Blue can you Get?: Perfect- 10/10 Please Love me: Perfect- 10/10 You Upset me Baby: So good- 10/10 Worry, Worry: Perfect- 10/10 Woke Up This Mornin': Perfect- 10/10 You Done Lost your Good Thing Now: Perfect- 10/10 Help the Poor: Perfect- 10/10 One of the best records I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. 1000000000000/10

The king of the blues and always will be.

This was excellent. B.B. King was a master of his craft. Truly great listening.

I do prefer my blues less 'big bandy', but i'm not docking stars for that. Peak BB right here. chefs kiss

Honestly super good, the blues really were nice even though it's not my usual genre of music.

5/5 - BB king, duh.

Just a great blues album. I don’t like modern live albums but old ones just hit differently.

A masterclass in blues and live showmanship.

Good Old bb blues, all hail the King

BB is the King

Now we're fucking talking. When he said, "It's my own fault, baby. Treat me the way you wanna do," I wanted to scream along with all the women in the audience.

Loved it, such a great artist and performer.

5/5. A lively and passionate blues album. The audience screaming along with him really brings the energy up. There is a small dip in the middle of the album but otherwise it’s funny, heartfelt, and sexy all at the same time. There is not a bad song on this and it finishes in time where the blues doesn’t become boring. Best song: Sweet Little Angel, Worry Worry

A strong record, and a lot of fun. King obviously knows how to have a good time.

🅱️🅱️👑 This was amazing, gotta listen to more BB King now.

Greatest blues man of all time.

What an entertainer! The OG guitar god

I love blues, I love live albums, and I love men who tell other men not to beat women. A short and sweet one. 5 stars.

Awesome and energetic.

A masterclass in live blues. Hell, live performance in general. Incredible stuff.

Well, this is a fantastic album. B.B. King's voice is smooth as silk, and the songs in this album flow beautifully. Just perfection. I listened to it three times and have nothing critical to say about it. 5/5

grande mestre, the king of the blues

At the height of his powers

Always solid.

I just love these classic live albums so much

Superb!

The King.

Great performance and recording strong and young! I saw this man perform live at the age of 83. He did it all but his voice was heavier and gravelly, and he did it sitting down... Yes. Blues. Touring his whole life to pay for the 13 children dependant on him (and their mothers). This would have been going mainstream.... A joy to hear his baby young voice and the crowd are so exuberant and involved, he bends the notes in his inimitable style so well, a bonus is stereo in 1965. Great recording. No hits on it but what an intro it would have been for mainstream.... authentic as hell

Este disco me voló la mente, gran interpretación llena de pasión e historias profundas.

The man who could say it all with one note. A masterclass in live blues.

I loved this. full of life and energy and THAT GUITAR TONE is insanely delicious. I was struck by how short the record is (35 minutes). I loved hearing the fans going absolutely ape**** when he would wiggle and wobble with his voice or the guitar. Inspiring. The instruments are all very clear and clean, spread wide across the whole spectrum. It was refreshing to hear that the vocal and guitar weren't fully centered. the variety was refreshing.

They say that BB is the king of the Blues which is very much the truth. However, they also say that he is the king of phrasing, and that he can make his guitar talk. That is absolutely the truth. What could be a tired and boring, just another blues record, becomes a passionate homage to sadness. You can feel the emotion in his words, the power of his melodies, but most importantly you can hear another story just from his guitar. His playing style is magical and entrancing. It’s wonderful to absorb the joy and pain that his playing style emits. While this may not be my absolute favorite music. The man himself displays so much with such a straightforward genre and exhibits it’s complexities with incredible artistry.

Dia 7.

Amazing

Detta album rättfärdigar live-albums existens! Så bra!

Listening to an artist at the height of his powers. Add in the adoring audience, and this album is a joy.

Betydande, väldigt clean insats från bandet och otrolig sång. En go-to.

Unbelievably good album. Not only are the songs so great, but the recording is one of the best live albums ever made. The balance of the crowd noise and the instrumentation is masterful. No individual sound overpowers the others, and it's hard to believe this was done live there are so few mistakes. 10/10 this is fantastic.

after listing to this album, is it any wonder b.b. king is such a legend? he's the blueprint. the masterpiece. no one can or did do it like him. there's so many wonderful things about this album. live albums, in order to be great, must have a magical connection. his presence can be felt through the album, even though we're only receiving audio of the concert. the audience is LIVING for king, and he's even encouraging us to whoop and holler fifty years later. he brings all thirty-five minutes to life, and none of it is boring. but that's just about the live aspect here. musically, it's amazing. b.b. king makes this so easy to listen to. his guitar playing is beautiful and impactful. he hits the right notes, every time, and i felt it in my bones. he alternates between blues and jazz and there's a touch of latin in there. nothing is boring or tired. the sax and piano seem to come in at the exact right time. i do hope b.b. king has more albums on this list, but damn can any of them be as good as this? can anybody's live album top this? i don't think so.

Makes me wish I was in that audience. Must’ve been a real treat to see B.B. in his prime

Thus was great, love some blues

How blues can you get? Not much more than this album

Brilliant album by one of the blues greats

Only thing I can think during this album is that I wish I were there

the emotion of his guitar playing is amazing. BB King is the king of the blues guitar.

Literally one of the perfect blues albums. BB King is one of the reasons I shred the blues. 5/5.

This album is a piece of history, not only because of the musical performance by B.B. King but also because it manages to capture the effect of his music on his audience. This is an excellent live blues album, King is a great performer and the audience reaction just made it a blast to listen.

Perfect. Blues BB voice and guitar are stellar.

I really really dig it

Not my favorite kind of tunes but what an amazing night! So glad to be a part of this and get to feel the energy of 1965. Thanks BB and band!

B.B. King did not choose his last name, but it sure as hell chose him. His live performance is a masterclass in showmanship. His musicianship is absolutely unassailable and not a single note is misplaced. King's guitar playing stands above the rest for its precision and the sheer amount of emotionality in every line. When B.B. King is playing, the audience hangs on every phrase. We are lucky that this album was put to tape.

Excellent, a masterclass in the blues. Great live album too. John Mayer could never

One of my very BB King albums and favorite blues albums of all time.

Most excellent.

This is the album to show anyone who thinks the Blues might be a bit pedestrian and formulaic. Perfect interplay of instruments and wow those BB vocals. Loved it

I mean - this is great! I'm not even a blues man, but this entire album is a great time, beginning to end.

Superb

I would have started levitating if I attended this show. Favorite track: How Blue Can You Get?

THE KING OF THE BLUES! This is a certified classic, its as amazing as an old blues album can be. The swagger of King, the instruments/production, and the banter between songs makes for such an amazing listen. I don’t normally listen to blues but this album might convert me into a mega fan.

Great performance

Loved it!

Fantastic blues album. The fact that it is live adds to the recording. You can almost smell the cigarette smoke and whiskey. The cheers of the crowd, and the fantastic blues guitar playing make this an amazing listen!! Favourite songs : it's my own fault, how blue can you get?, sweet little angel Least favourite: worry, worry (if forced to pick one) Easy 5/5

no noteable tracks, but a good listen

Love the shuffle grooves on the drums. And playing from the soul from one of blues music's best. I love it when musicians use their instruments as a way of saying something as opposed to trying to create something pleasant. That kind of playing is evident on this record. BB is saying something through his fingers.

The sign of a good song is when you're not ready for it to be over, and this album is full of them. Live At The Regal is not only an outstanding blues album, but it's also an exemplary live album. King is at the top of his game here, full of high energy and superb musicianship. The hollers and cheers of the crowd just add to the energy and joy of the performance. One of the best live albums I've heard on here yet. Fave Songs (All songs, from most to least favorite): Please Love Me; It's My Own Fault; How Blue Can You Get; Worry, Worry; You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now; You Upset Me Baby; Help the Poor; Sweet Little Angel; Every Day I Have the Blues

lucila la cachonda

Very relaxing in some places, and in others giving energy, putting you in romantic mood

Pure, electric, immidiate, direct

Love it! Honestly one of best live recordings I’ve ever heard!

Excellent blues album. 5/5 Didn't expect B.B. King to be able to sing the way he does.

Great classic blues, and excellent sound for a live album!

Excellent from front to back

Does it make sense to joyously listen to the blues? Well I did. It's a rare and wonderful live album when you can feel the crowd around you as though you were there, because you're having the exact same reactions as the folks in the 1964 audience were having. I loved this one.

I really enjoyed this album. The energy was great and the band backing B.B. was awesome!

Oh, yes. I wouldn't have thought it would be so fun to listen to the blues but this was fun! Really great.

This is a lot of fun! The crowd was into it and I was into it! There was some good audience interaction which added to it all. Really great!

Almost 60 years old, but you just get an immediate sense of BB King's power and what he was doing differently.

BB King é sensacional, ouvir um álbum ao vivo é sempre um experiência, tem que parar e ouvir prestando atenção. Gosto muito dos solos. Melhores músicas: Sweet Little Angel e Worry, Worry

Unsurprisingly, this album slaps. If you've never listened to the blues before, B.B. is the place to start. Already quite familiar with this album and today reminded me I need to pick it up on vinyl. Favorite Tracks: How Blue Can You Get, Worry Worry, [Actually, you should just listen to them all. No skips.]

cool! B B is perefect for evening! 5000\5

Bb king is a legend. This is such a great album and it’s so benefitted from being recorded live. I haven’t listened to the blues in a while but this will always serve as an excellent reintroduction

this is the greatest live album of all time. just perfect. i could listen to it any time for any reason and be happy.

Excellent recording, very powerful live performance by B.B. King and his band.

Quel bon blues, cet album demontre toute letendu du talent de bb kimg et comment son oeuvre estintemporel. Tout le monde devrait ecouter cette album pour comprendre un peu mieux l’histoire de la usique. 5

Yes yes yes! Love this album. All the blues you’ll ever need.

The King of Blues live! Amazing, amazing live album.

100/100 i loved this. felt so much life and soul in it. his voice is amazing, and the guitar shredded. never heard it before so thanks for a new fav

Awesome album. B.B. King has a great blues voice and his playing is excellent. This album starts with some killer versions of "Everyday I Have The Blues" and "Sweet Little Angel". And when I started listening to the album, my living room felt like a concert. B.B. plays well with the audience and has good showmanship. If I want to listen to some nice guitar blues album, in a live performance setting for extra atmosphere, I would choose this album.

9/10. Blues!

Legendary album by a legend. Bit confused by some of the editing, but did this leave me blue? Hell no.

classic, liked it blues, jazz, all kinds of music that i adore

Incredible voice, interaction with the public ina very good modd

Absolutely incredible voice. Not usually a fan of live albums, but this is shaping up to be an exception.

I love the blues

It’s BB King! Soooo good.

How can I critique a 1965 BB King live concert other than I wish I was there. Recorded at the Regal Theatre in Chicago in late 1964. His backing band sounds very solid with piano, tenor saxes trumpets and a great rhythm section. My favorite songs here ("Sweet Little Angel", "Worry, Worry", "You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now") start with his booming voice and incredible guitar and let the band build momentum to the song end. But every song sounds great. Really not a negative comment; it's BB King in his prime. The recording tries to capture the crowd's excitement and is successful to some extent. Other artists, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton. John Mayer and Mark Knopfler apparently have used this album as primers before performances. An album that I will gladly add to my collection when I come across it.

A majestic live album. I adore the dialogue the segues into the songs, and his expertly placed guitar links. This guy had everything, the less-is-more thing, perfect phrasing and the sweetest note choice and tone. Blues = B.B. King.

I am familiar with B.B. KING and his twelfth or his first live album LIVE AT THE REGAL, which I have and like very much. After listening to LIVE AT THE REGAL, I still enjoyed this live performance, but the one major complaint that I have is that the songs are incomplete. They are shortened versions of the studio songs. Now this is the blues!

BB King is the best, saw him live a few times and it's always amazing.

Genialny album, 35 minut po których nie da się nie lubić bluesa

Nice Surprise! Outstanding live
