Obviously a 5 and probably a top 10 album ever made
The content of this album is obviously all fantastic, but its just to long and doesn't work as an album.
Masterpiece lyrically, musically
Unironically the worst album I have ever listened to. It’s so so boring like what? Harmonically stiff, melodically repetitive, lyrically lame. I would far rather listen to Tromboneliness than this shit genuinely

shit slapped 4/5 I have a micropenis
top
Paul dogs out 🤩
So it’s Bob Dylan, without the only good thing going for Bob Dylan Hillbilly ass music Shit
It’s alright
This shit really makes you appreciate the Beatles my god
Why is there an 11 minute song in the middle 😭. Good tho
Will Moore if you have this a 3 your fucking weird
Decent; far better than the poo of band, but not my sort of music
If it bangs, it bangs. Good ass album if you ask me
If it bangs, it bangs. Good ass album if you ask me
Website is spazzing out Album was diabolically overrated but still decent
A good album as a whole, with some good songs but lots crap too. I started this in the car with my Dad and very quickly turned it off
I mean what do you expect
Enjoyable at the most, basic at the worst
Unironically the worst album I have ever listened to. It’s so so boring like what? Harmonically stiff, melodically repetitive, lyrically lame. I would far rather listen to Tromboneliness than this shit genuinely
Decent and unique, would listen to a few of the songs again
Strong, but long and needs more listens
Fun?
Great stuff on here. It opens with “the world is hard and so am I” I’ll defo revisit this one
Liked the double bass and sitar
Alright; very similar to Nick Drake so will be an interesting test of Wills rym bias
If I wanted to listen to instrumental shit i wouldn’t pick Bowie 😭. First half banged
Interesting for sure and a nice change
Really solid and one step closer to jazz with that crazy scat at the start
Decent? No white album but then again fleetwood mac are no Beatles so
Not my tempo..
Bit long and samey
Great vocal harmonies and a few good tracks
He’s gonna erupt when he sees 16 year olds???
Meh
One of the best albums of all time. Everything is tight; Gilberto’s at his best, Getz seems to have the perfect Bossa tone, Jobim is good as always and Astrid Gilberto delivers one of the most unique and heavenly vocal performances ever. Easy 5/5
Really fantastic record this; so many great hits
King of the bongo
Holy moly minor 5 chord?? In this economy???! Good album, enjoyed more than I expected; sounds like an American road trip. A lot of range, but a bit too long for my liking.
Alright, bit emo
I’ve had massive attack hyped up in the past, and this album did not live up to it bro. It wasn’t bad, just really mid
Great album with a load of great songs, little overrated but still good
This one’s really strong; high 4. Must have been inspired by super furry animals radiator
This album did nothing for me ngl. Not bad at all just didn’t hit
This one was really strong; great voice, melodies and sound to it. Will be in the main rotation
This album was either being excellent or shit, so I’m not quite sure what to give it. It was shit a good bit more though
It was alright; few great tunes and a good overall sound, but was too long and a good bit overrated
Decent album, few standouts but nothing to special; enjoyed it
I’m not a metal fan, but enjoyed this one. Went hard during a risk of rain 2 run
This is a pop record. It is as good and bad as every other standard pop record. There are a few great songs and lots of mid. If I was a teenage girl in 2015 going through a breakup I would connect to this album more. Fortunately, I am not.
Super overrated but still good, black hole sun good
A nice difference; some interesting melodies and great rhythms
I actually liked this one more than zeppelin 4 can’t lie. It was a bit more bluesy, and more interesting
This album surprised me; I wasn’t expecting to like Scottish dream pop, I guess you never know. Clean sound.
Can’t say a really enjoyed this one at all; just not my kind of music. That being said it wasn’t offensively bad to warrant a 1 of courses
A bit emo, but pretty good
It was kinda a vibe until it wasn’t. Dude there are more than 3 chords Jesus. Got very stale very quickly
What if Fuzzy Logic was English and made by sugar addicts. That was actually so good. Top 5 album on this gen probs
I’m liked the organ, music was alright
This was a tough one; so close to a 5, but not quite on the same level as Abbey Road or Getz Gilberto
Never listened to Velvet Underground before but I thought this was excellent. Will be giving it more listens for sure
Yeah liked this one should really listen to Nevermind. Also sounded like a cat throwing up but kinda worked
Pretty good, felt a bit standard rock for me
Didn’t care for this one at all, proper samey all the way. Not a big fan of most singer-songwriter
This was indeed a rock album. Perfectly fine but nothing special
Decent album, nothing amazing but a good sound and some good tracks
Very pleasant surprise
Holy overrated. Still quite good and enjoyable.
I’ve never actually listened to Billy Joel beyond the odd single. This was seriously great. Will be returning
I really dislike repetitive songs. This album was not repetitive. Very interesting and fresh
I had high hopes after Yoshimi was so good, but this record was so unbelievably boring and repetitive
Rock album. Great if you like rock. Very rocky
Bit of a different one, but not quite my thing
This was quite good as far as metal goes. Still just not a huge fan of the genre, but will earmark this one
Didn’t jam with this one ngl
One of the better singer songwriter albums. A good length too
yeah pretty decent, nothing to special though; shoegaze i think?
One of the most atmospheric albums. Incredible, but just not one of my personal favorite albums
very funky
Really like Pulp. Best of the britpop bands i think
Rather goofy but an interesting listen for sure
what is this Chinese-stereotype ass song 😭. Rest is good
goofy band name. also he sounds like bowie
Fun little album, nothing that amazing
Very mid but had a few good songs
Not a big country fan, but really enjoyed this one. Simple harmonically, but a lot of fun
Twas rap innit. Not really my thing, but the different language gave it a more instrumental feel
Definition of a 3
Actually really good, will listen again
Masterpiece lyrically, musically
This would probably sound better live, rather than in an empty pub
Wasn’t expecting much going into this one, but it was decent, and a lot better than the beach boys of its time
Yeah this one pretty good. Though it’s also my mums favourite album so minus points there
this one actually grooved. a bit long but will listen to again for sure
Yeah this one is really good. Just a bunch of standards covered well
Aggressively 80s, has a few good songs
It was alright, quite ambient and interesting enough
Obviously a 5 and probably a top 10 album ever made
This was actually amazing I though, great voice and great style
This was one of the better blues albums I’ve listened too, but I think blues can get a tad repetitive after like 30mins
Very much early 70s late 60s rock. Pleasant enough
Freaky but Funky
Pretty good, a bit long and a bit loud
Very high 4 this one, great tracks throughout. 1959 is the best year for music
Very anthem-ish but without much substance
You can always tell what the name of the song is without reading the title with Springsteen
Great album, dark sides better.
Added straight to the “listen again” list. Very solid
Bit of an odd one this but I thought it was pretty great all things considered
Alright, thought it would be more emo from the cover
Alright; a few good songs here and there but far from his best work
Loud boring loud
Very good album; flowed great and had good songs.
Pretty good but nothing stood out. Would listen again but not over a lot of other things
I still just can’t get into this genre. I hope one day it clicks
Great album; 2001 is a really interesting year.
Really interesting album, havnt heard much like it. Very long, but will listen again
Alright; fairly standard 1974 album. I like the horns
Really enjoyed this actually. Even without listening to lyrics the beat and groove is top class. Lyrics of course are amazing.
Impressively boring
2nd album I couldn’t finish. Too long for the material on it. Some good stuff for sure but everything was like 2mins too long. Same basic harmony for 6mins is agonising
Quite interesting and good fun.
How can you not enjoy this album?
A couple good songs but so very overrated
A couple of really good songs, but the rest of the album was just ok
Pretty mid, all kinda samey
Feels like I’m about to go to war for the Germans
Masterpiece, but not his best; genuinely can’t understand why Mingus Ah Um is not on this list
Pretty neutral on this one; great cover though
Huge SFA vibes from this one, will listen again
Quite solid; not big into electronic but the shorter song length made it a bit more captivating. Should probs watch the film for the full effect
Really interesting; the music theory explanations for the different techniques were awesome. The music also was great
Holy mother of mid. Started decent and got worse and worse. Why do all late 60s folk sound to similar
Actually quite solid, will check out more of his stuff
Maybe a top 5 album of all time; absolute masterpiece. Also probably the best lineup of musicians a studio recording ever
Good metal album; really have to be doing the right thing to be listening to metal
Right up my alley; added to the must listen again list
What an album!
Really not my sort of thing at all won’t lie
Still can’t get into hip-hop
Wasn’t expecting much but was actually really good. Will listen again
The content of this album is obviously all fantastic, but its just to long and doesn't work as an album.
Interesting. I've been meaning to go into Genesis for a while now, so I will listen to this one again
It got better is it went along
Pretty good but not quite a 4
Pretty decent
mid generic 70s rock
long and loud but like the guitar solos
Devo meets Blondie
At best this album was boring.
Good but I preferred tpab
decent for sure, a high 3
a few bright spots, but couldn't get into it
Quite chill at times; strong 3
what a strange album... it was kinda decent most of the way if a bit derivative at its worst, then all of a sudden track 13 comes out of nowhere and is phenomenal. the long run time definitely works against it though
What an awesome surprise! Crazy flow and really interesting songs. Will listen again for sure
First song was easily the best on the album, but it was solid throughout. Nothing mind blowing but a good listen
I liked this album but it was way too long and drawn out
Didn’t expect this from the cover. Really harsh noise but some good stuff under it; especially the lyrics
It was ok. Few good songs
I think this one just about scrapes a 5. It’s phenomenal.
There were a few standout tracks but it didn’t really grab me at all
Perfect example of a really good album that doesn’t deserve to be on this list. Radiohead do not need more than 3 albums; no one does (apart from the Beatles maybe)
again Tom Waits is proper weird. did enjoy it though
She’s got a great voice and a couple songs stood out but as a whole it didn’t do too much
Really bloody good. High 4
I knew I liked boogie woogie, now I know I love it. Every one the of 27 minutes of this album was pure joy
Honestly a little underwhelming. I though I'd enjoy it more because it's Marvin Gaye, but it came across as whiny and was way too long. Not bad by any stretch of the imagination but far from his best
Fun little album here. Enjoyed it
Really not my thing
Started decent but just went on and on and on and on and on
I expected more from this. Didn’t gel with her voice either tbh
First song was 10/10 rest was ok
Obscenely mid
Proper weird album but I think I liked it. Third track was phenomenal
just boring
Freebird saved this from a 2
I had no expectations for this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of good but some worse songs as well. I'm feeling low 4
didn't do much for me but there were a couple of interesting points
This album kept switching between genuinely funny and super uncomfortable.
Really quite good. I had heard it was great and it matched that. Will return
Absolute experience of an album. You just can't rate it like almost any other; it's like listening to the mechanisms of a clock rather than its chime. Can't give it a 5 though, just don't love it enough (not yet at least)
did nothing for me
Solid, not what I was expecting but pleasantly surprised
So mainstream and popular that a lot of "serious listeners" shit on it a bit. It's really really good. High 4
Don't understand the hype ngl
I definitely prefer this one to "blue". Song for Sharon and Black Crow were particular standouts.
Fine
McCartney really is great at noodlely-unfinished shit
Scrapes a 5. So great
Pretty good
Ranged from quite fun to unbearable from track to track
Will defo listen again; lots of interesting parts at play
Had to go to youtube for this one; apple music had nothing. Music was alright but 1.5 hours was a bit much
Probably the best Queen album imo. Really flows nicely and is never uninteresting
Great selection of songs from some great artists. You could say this album “kills”…
So annoying. Lots of really good stuff on here, especially the softer stuff; Galapgos, we only come out at night, Lily, By Starlight and so on. However this was horribly juxtaposed with a lot of boring or harsh noise shit that did nothing for me. Also throw in the fact that this album is 2 FUCKING HOURS LONG. 2.5, but I'm feeling generous so I'll round up
Bang average alt rock i guess
Really didn't care for this at all. Literally all sounded the same. Beautiful day and Wild Honey sounded pretty good though...
Really solid stuff here. Easy 4
Really interesting album. Great at setting the atmosphere. Just about squeaks a 4 as I'm genuinely really curious to listen again.
Never heard of her or this album but wow what a great find! Prime reason to do this challenge right here. Beautiful voice, great lyrics and awesome modal tonalities
Strong songwriting and powerful lyrics. Great stuff!
Really good fun little bit of pop-rock. Never listened to a full REM album but this was quite nice
Cool and funky music but lyrics were a bit off putting
Cool vibe, decent rock
Absolute class. Love a bit of ska
Seriously great album here. Will be giving it a lot more listens but stands as a 9/10 currently
Good blues album for sure. Just nothing I will likely listen to again
Completely tolerable but nothing special
Cool vibe. Cool voice.
Better than Blue, slightly below Hejira
Interesting enough and a valid edition to the list, but I didn't groove to it too much
Interesting for sure, just not quite a 4
Ambitious and entertaining
Great album; high 4
If I wanted to listen to a more atmospheric, laid back album, I wouldn’t pick this
Surprisingly good actually. Last track was my favourtie
Enjoyable listen; will return
Some decent sounds on here, but not my thing and too long
Pretty mid, sometimes great sometimes annoying.
Nothing much I liked here. Not terrible
Actually pretty solid. Not quite a 4 but may still listen again.. There was a bit that sounded just like a track from Kinks are the village green
Finished listening and immediately couldn't remember anything about this album
How can you hate this?
Surprisingly interesting. Will defo listen more
Not my favourite Miles album but still really solid.
Quite melancholic and gentle. Will listen again
Wow this was terrible. Like hard to listen to but not in a good way
Really solid. Never heard a bad reggae album
I don't know why I didn't like this. I feel as though I should have
Is it ridiculous to say that A Hard Day's Night is underrated? Sure it's made by the Beatles, but it's never mentioned alongside their legendary 5 album run from Rubber Soul to Abbey Road. In my opinion, this album is easily of the quality of the 5, and I'd personally place it within my top 5 Beatles records. Its just so much fun, but has depth and range and genuinely clever and intricate songwriting. 5/5
This album sounded like a parody of metal. So bad but also quite funny
Cool vibe but it often sounded like music for a car advert
Very worthwhile addition to the list, but a bit to pedestrian for my taste.
Thought this was class! Surprised at the low reviews
This was, no exaggeration, one of the best first-listens of this entire list. South African jazz is criminally underrated. Lush stuff
Never listened to a full Curtis album before and it didn’t disappoint! Great album that will get many more spins
Wasn't bad but didn't do it for me. Diverse range of sounds though
Lovely. Top opener and nice vibe.
Alright
High 4 off the bat. Some serious quality
Yep this was fucking shit no two ways of saying it
By no means bad, just not my kind of thing
Really solid fast paced rock.
Relaxing but nothing special
Literally what the fuck was that?
Pleasant enough listen
Not the strongest Smiths album but fine none the less
Yeah this really didn't hit the spot, especially for how highly it's often rated
Yeah very strong listen. Will listen more
This is the first review I have edited (outside of errors), and hopefully the last one I will as well. I really should have given this one a 5 when it came up, and maybe because it hasn’t been long since it did I feel obliged to rectify my mistake. Anyway, Bryter layter is a lush, smooth album; the very best from Nick Drake and one the best on this list.
Close to a 3 but some of the interlude-ish bits dropped it
Forgettable and disappointing
I have to respect the craftsmanship on display here, as well as the bold decision to make something like this, but as far as personal enjoyment goes I will never touch this again.
Nothing really to say about this other than it was ok.
Great fun!
Good fun; the sax adds a lot of energy
So this is the talking heads? Very nice
Enjoyable if a bit forgettable.
The most 80s music to ever exist
Can't say I'll ever listen to this again
Pretty good
By no means do I dislike Springsteen, or this album, but does he really need 5 albums on the list? Once you've heard one you've kinda heard them all.
Certainly something different!
I really hate to say it but I didn't finish this one; got like 80% of the way through but then gave up. If you're gonna make an album that's 90ish mins long it better have variance, or at least be good
Fine
The groove isn't just in the heart, it's all through the album!
Quite inconsistent. Often great, often crap
Really really cozy feel; great balance between live album and studio recording quality as well! Very high 4
Felt longer than it was, and its 63 minutes long...
Solid fun rock, but holy goofy lyrics. "Rock against ass" ??
Some really great tracks, lots of mid, and one of the most terrible, confusingly bad end track
I got a unique joy out of this album. It's just so so cool!
Easy listen, nothing special
Really not bad but why is it on the list? Like why?? I can't think of a single reason other than famous band so need lot of album. No artist needs more than 3 albums on here. Maybe a few exceptions here and there but this is not one of them
A couple of really good songs
I thought this was really solid, if a little repetitive. High 3
Does anyone else actually look forward to the lowest rated albums? They seem to be the most experimental and weird for sure. Tank Battles perfectly encapsulated the vibe of wartime Berlin, and was something completely different while not being "hard to listen to". I'd much rather this than another alt rock or post punk album that this list feels overweight with. Won't be returning very often, but genuinely enjoyed this.
Great stuff. Added straight to the rotation!
Holy shit that was electric!! Tightest horn section ever! More of this please!
Somehow sounded quite generic but also varied
Great album! Boulevard, Extraordinary girl and Wake me up were the standouts, but a really great flow
Very 80s. Very mid.
Was Reggae. Was good
Wow that really surprised me! Somehow never heard of T. Rex but they were refreshingly good. Solid Bowie vibes!
Well this was a pleasant surprise! I've always been under the impression that this was primarily hip-hop, but it was really just soul with some rap verses. Really nice groove and feel; will listen to again!
Had its moments for sure, but was a little inconsistent and repetitive.
Good but a bit long
Not as strong as hounds of love, but pleasant enough.
A few standout tracks for sure, but not Elton's best album
When it leaned into the "tribal" vibe, it was a 4. When it leaned into the "screamy shouty' vibe, it was a 2.
Brilliant!! Often albums with a big hit are pretty mediocre, but this was consistent in quality throughout. Great punchy horn sections, snazzy strings and strong vocals! High 4
This was really fucking boring
A couple of hits but nothing special
Fun enough
Delicious. I didn't give bookends a 5, though it's definitely grown into one. I wonder if this album will too. Bit of an odd end tho..
Good metal album
Annoyingly fun
Bit of a let down. I really enjoyed Oedipus so was looking forward to this, but it was a lot more atmospheric. Kinda felt like there should have been something visual going on as well
Funky and cool vibe
Always nice to get something a bit different. Obviously a different sound to his earlier works but good nonetheless.
Somehow never listened, don’t know why. Brilliant!
Fairly solid folky-singer-songwritery stuff.
OUTRAGEOUSLY good
This was actually really good. The other Ryan Adams album felt like it dragged a bit, but this one had better pacing and flow, as well as some really nice tender moments.
This did nothing for me
This is someones mums favorite album
Sounded like music for a car advert. Started ok but by the end was rather boring
Fun and interesting, but I'm not itching to listen again
Wasn't familiar with your game, Morrissey
Easy 5; Paul Desmond has the best alto tone for sure
I should really listen to more Nirvana; great album, but they definitely have a style which works in a 'less is more' kinda way.
Absolute masterpiece. I love it when he starts naming the instruments. Also when he starts grunting like a beast. 10/10
Far from bad, but all very same-y
Completely inoffensive to me, but I can understand both the appeal and disdain that many have for this album
Good shit
REALLY boring, but had the benefit that I was doing work and it was inoffensive in the background. If I was only listening to it, I think my body would have shut down as a defensive mechanism against boredom and I wouldn't be typing this review right now...
Decent
Alright; some really good parts, but not all consistent
Who would of thought that adding Neil Young to the roster would make it better? Crazy idea...
This is the sort of thing your gran has on vinyl; not awful but pretty boring
Did not like this as much as I thought I would
Too long
Best Poo album [low bar]
Absolute banger, but not quite a 5 as it lacks consistency. 'Moon Dreams' is a genuine masterpiece of composing and arranging, however.
Probs a big deal in its day, but didn't do much for me
Didn’t care for it tbh
Liked the last song
Great hits, rest was decent
Easily the best metal album I've ever listened to like what even! High 4
What a great surprise! Great album and great cover too
It brings me much pain to not give Revolver a 5, but unfortunately I can't. 'Yellow Submarine' fucking sucks, 'Doctor Robert' is mediocre and 'Good day Sunshine' plods along with no real place on the album. Despite its many masterpieces, it is far from a perfect album, and I'll never understand how so many people consistently rank this in the Beatles top 3 records.
Yes yes more of this please!
Aggressively mediocre
Kinda vibed with it but was kinda long. The title track was great though!
One of those artists I’ve hear about nonstop but don’t have a clue what he sounds like. Perfect excuse to listen given this list and I’m glad I did; such a cool vibe! Will defo check out Blonde at some point as well
Yeah I really liked this. Middle song was too long but the finale definitely saved it.
I 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 wanted to love this album; I've heard many say it's his best, and I loved his album (literally yesterday) was great. But I just didn't click with it. Maybe I need to listen to it again, or its a grower, or I need a better time idk...
Absolute masterpiece. One of the best soul albums of all time, all while sounding so fresh and new. 10/10
Music was fine but putting a 2+ hour live album on here feels silly
2 live albums in a row and a rather big quality gap between them
Absolutely 5 worthy, just not one of my all time favorites. Global average of a 2.99 though?? wtf that's easily the most egregious score I've come across on this website (and I've seen some odd scores)
