Reviews (page 7 of 8)
Credit for this not being the worst music I’ve heard, but it’s close.
The funky beats aren’t enough for me. I think where I went wrong was paying attention to the lyrics and realising just how banal they are. Q Tips has a decent, if very regular flow but the album mixes it up with quite a few different influences/backing tracks. But once you dial in to the lyrics you quickly forget that and wonder what on earth he is going on about. “Won’t Trade” was a low point on this front. Maybe I’m just feeling uncharitable but I just wondered why am I listening to this nonsense.
Lets start with the bad. "You" - Was dire It was just repeating gibber. OK so some songs suck but it is quite a varied album to its credit and infused with some fairly funky backdrop which does lift it slightly. "ManWomenBoogie" is decent rap and many other songs in fairness. Just not for me. I just find most of it a little odd. I just have visions of a muscle clad rapper in a haribo advert. Or hanging out in a 70s rap live lounge. Neither of which I care for much.
Not really my cup of tea
This isn't bad. It's smoother than most rap, somewhat R&B/soulful occasionally. A couple of songs show a 70's sound influence. Overall, a fair listen. As a rapper, his style is easy on the ears, flow-y. Just can't understand about half of what he's saying though. Was this at the beginning of that mumble rap thing? Honestly, after a few songs, he starts sounding a little Donald Duck to me. Overall, this is sort of meh. Nothing great. Nothing bad. I never felt I had to skip out of something, but nothing really called me to listen intently either. As for the music, my first question is Does his drum machine have just 2 settings?? I guess the bass on "ManWomanBoogie" was fun. Otherwise, just simple keyboard backgrounds that don't warrant much attention. It's about a 2.5 for me. But i can't imagine pulling it back up again ever and I don't recall even 30 seconds from listening to it 3 times. I have to call it a 2
Although I'm not into this genre at all, I thought this album might be a little different. It was a little different, but not much. I didn't listen to it all the way through. But at least I didn't turn it off right away. 2/5
There is no album I’ve listened to more than Midnight Marauders. Sadly, this is not Midnight Marauders.
2+ Stars (6/15)
not my bag
Okay
Pedestrian
At first I thought it sounded kinda modern for an old piece of rap, but then I saw the release year and realised it was the other way around Not a fan either way
Zzzzzzzzzz
Not my thing, but pretty cool
is it rap. .is it soul. .is it original. ..3 no's from me ...let's move on
I definitely would have given this a 3 if it weren’t for the random preachiness in the middle of the album where he starts trying to explain the history of the USA or something. I feel like I’ve heard this on multiple rap songs, and I really have no idea what motivates cosplaying as a 2nd-grade teacher. Otherwise this is fine. The production is really good, and for that reason I can sort of see why it was nominated for Best Rap Album at the Grammys (not that it matters obviously, it’s the Grammys). Also I wasn’t looking at the tracklist and didn’t realize until after listening that Norah Jones & D’Angelo were on this album???
2/5
Ok. Not offensive. Just not my thing. 2.5
not for me
Well produced but sounds like the workings of a man who is out of ideas
Album 916 of 1089 Q-Tip - The Renaissance (2008) Rating : 2 / 5 Hip hop isn’t really my thing, but I’ll give credit where it’s due - this one didn’t lean on a lot of the things I usually dislike about the genre. That being said, it still wasn’t the kind of album that was going to win me over. In the world of hip hop, I could imagine some people calling this one “lame,” and honestly, lame is a pretty good word for it in my book. It’s not offensive, not hard to listen to, just nothing that really grabs or impresses. A fine effort, but nothing I’ll be thinking about once the project moves on.
Yawn 🥱
Hip-hop is never going to be my thing. At least this has the decency to fuck off after 46 minutes.
Fine
When I saw this was from 2008, I didn’t think I’d be into it. It seems like sort of a throwback. I dug the soul and jazz samples. I liked the vibe overall. I didn’t get a chance to listen closely, but I may revisit this at some point.
Liked the first song but kinda went downhill from there
There’s a lot of hip hop, rap, and similar stuff on this list that’s only relevant in the US. There’s nothing special about it, and there’s no reason for this album to be on the list. Another miss. Sometimes it really makes me want to stop, seriously.
Meah
The lyrics can be clever sometimes, but this style of hip hop is just not for me
not for me
Noting special about it, and not my thang. 2 stars for a decent beat.
Would have been a 3 if the production was better. I can’t comprehend the thought process of not boosting the vocals on a hip hop album .
Move was the only track that I listened to completely. Too bad the album wasn't more like that.
Not for me. Too much base. Not enough trebble
marginaal beter dan de gemiddelde rapplaat
Not for me
too soft for me, sounds repetitive
Not necessarily a top 1001 for me.
I think I need a Q-Tip to get rid of this clingy lounge sound. Not something I want to listen to in my spare time.
File this with the others I wish I liked more. I appreciate what Q-Tip has done for music, but it just doesn't click for me
I liked a couple near the start Rating: 2.4
Eh
I finished this about twelve hours ago. I've already forgotten what it was like.
Not good, not bad, and not a must hear.
Snore. Background music hip-hop, oh boy. Really not for me, just a meandering snoozefest.
Meh
Då har eg hørt da og
This is #day287 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and... while there are a few interesting beats and production hooks, it's not landing for me. It doesn't feel like it carries much historical weight. If this is a guy from A Tribe Called Quest (I know they're on the list and was looking forward to checking them out since I enjoy some golden age hip-hop now and then, especially with jazz interpolations), this isn't the best way to introduce the name. I'm giving it a 2 out of 5. Looking forward to #day288.
Nothing really stuck with me from this. Not a huge hip hop guy, but this pales in comparison to Kendricks album. It didnt suck though and sounded a lot more retro than 08’. Cool to have a feature from Norah as well.
Some decent grooves like ManWomanBoogie but the lyrics are pretty bad, right?
I love Q-Tip but I bet even he would be hard pressed to make the case for this album on this list.
I enjoyed this more than The Low-End Theory. Groovier, hookier, structurally closer to songs. The live group feel is more welcoming and the bass sounds pretty good, although, even when musicians are playing together, they tend to repeat, digging in rather than developing. Towards the end of the record, the woozy synths are exhausting. Hardly no skips, but no skits is pretty good for a hip-hop album. 2.5 This wasn’t that bad. I am not keen on Q-tip‘s voice which has a thin, slightly nasal quality to it but I appreciate his efforts to bring more than a couple of bars of music on a loop into his work; the appearance of the chorus of Johnny is Dead caused a wave of relief to sweep over me. That said, a lot of this is still two bars on a loop and a fair chunk of that is the type of washy keyboard shit that God intended only for numbing the rage of people on hold with customer services; Gettin Up, Wefight/Welove, or the last three tracks. It’s also worth observing that Q-tip has a comfort zone; although the odd phrase is slickly abbreviated, almost every track is a 4/4 backbeat at about 100bpm. There is very little character or drama in Q-tip‘s voice and his lyrics, while largely free of gangsta-ese to their credit, only offer mundane, sometimes risible, rhymes. Almost all the triple rhymes on Gettin Up are excruciating. But I will finish on the positives; this was only 45 minutes long - fair play Q-tip. And I liked Won‘t Trade which was successfully hypnotic even though it didn’t have much structure and I don’t know anything about American sports. Is Division One the top division over there then? 2/5
Not my jam, don't like rap
Very nice, cool chill beats, i assume he was saying smt worth hearing tok but i didnt pay atention because i was work on stochastic simulations assignment 3
2 out of 5. This album has a good flow to it.
Rap is crap
Meh
I don`t know?!?
Meh. A little boring.
Better than some of this genre but ultimately not for me
Eh like 1 of them was cool not my type
Generic hip hop album, neither here nor there
Sounds like a Q-tip album. No songs had any great hooks and it was nothing new.
Seemed entirely generic to me.
Not too bad, though not sure mid 2000s hip hop is my jam in 2025. High 2s
The Good: Attention given to ear hygiene! The Bad: turns out this is not about a cotton ball on top of a little plastic stick… The Ugly: or is it???… I shall be a skipping record here and state that I don’t particularly care for Rap… And this record has not changed my mind… Yes, some of the tracks are not bad to listen to, however, half-way through I was too tempted to hit the skip button… So, I will give 2* because I didn’t want to stab myself repeatedly in the ear with a Q-Tip...
I like the beats, the rap does nothing for me.
Decent rap album, but it doesn't feel timeless at all to me.
Generisk hiphop. Inget som fångade mig
It's not the worst rap album I've heard but wouldn't listen again
I listened to this twice because I couldn't remember what I made of it. ...and I still can't remember. So it didn't make much of an impression
Phat beatz
Admittedly, not my preferred genre of music, so it would have to be something really unique and special to draw me in. This was neither. It was ok. Nothing that offended the ear, but not one thing I really enjoyed about it. 2/5
I want to like q-tip but it feels too technical and not really very emotional. Which I think hip hop needs a bit of?
Q-Tip's The Renaissance sounds like your typical 2000s rap, heavily laden with one-bar loops over a monotone vocal delivery, miscellaneous DJ/quirky techy sound effects, and (unnecessary) nods to other contemporary hip-hop artists. This "triple threat" has been done to death, and it doesn't get particularly better over time, no matter how many artists give it a whirl. With this record, Q-Tip tries to go for a sort of "smooth jazz" approach to the hip-hop genre, in particular making use of crooning vocals, some interesting instrument harmonies, and some fun piano and bass lines here and there. If these had been a little more varied, my rating would've been raised to a 3 (or even higher). The track Gettin Up is the standout in terms of instruments, having some pretty good backing vocals, an infectious piano riff, and one of the best/funkiest bass parts I've heard in hip-hop. The album never really reaches this height again, and is mostly repetitive monotonous filler. The album cover is pretty cool. Nice 70s/80s "future-teque" vibe. 2/5 Key tracks: WeFight/WeLove, Get Up, Johnny Is Dead
Rap. I thought about it for a while and then decided to try it out as I normally don't like rap. This was a bit of a surprise. Milder rap and bearable. Very repetitive and throbbing beat as is usual with rap.
# 333 : I don't love it, I don't hate it. I thought it was very ordinary and Quiet forgettable. I probably won't go back to this.
It was okay but nothing memorable. Solid 2 stars.
You can't help nodding your head to the funky bass lines and drum beat loops on this record. If you like Old School Hip Hop, then give this a spin.
I almost like Johnny Is Dead, Renaissance Rap, Manwomanboogie; lyric issues
Quite good beats and flow, but all in all the songs are too reptetititve, nothing much happening there. I liked Won’t Trade, but won’t listen to the other songs again
Q-Tip on kovasti arvostamani räppäri, mutta nämä uudemmat soolotuotannot eivät pääse lähellekään A Tribe Called Questin tasoa. Pitäisi ehkä kuunnella vaan enemmän, niin ehkä aukeaisi nämäkin paremmin.
Raw, real, innovative, but I won’t listen to again. Not pleasant to listen to.
Boring hip hop
It wasn't bad - but it wasn't good. Just not my thing, I guess.
Super smooth, but thought it was boring overall
Another lousy rap album. Why so many?
Bring the Noise
Wasn't really for me, I did enjoy some tracks but didn't find most memorable.
Hip hop bastante rollo. Sin nada que me llame la atención.
idk kind of cheesy
Hip hop bastante rollo. Sin nada que me llame la atención.
2008 solo project outside of ATCQ
Everything sounds the same. Not impressed. 2 stars
Rap, einigermaßen melodisch. Nicht mein Ding 2/5.
Q-tip cannot command an entire album. Nothing special here.
Really love a tribe called quest but this felt pretty bland
Listened Before? N This one was okay. I find that Q-tip's voice gets repetitive after a while. He's got decent lyrics and beats, and I see why the Beasties collaborated with him a few times. I don't think this has any staying power for me though. Just not my personal style. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Gettin' Up
A very generous two.
Wasn't my thing. It wasn't bad but I thought it got repetitive
Not really for me, sounded the and and very repetitive
Well produced nothing. All felt the same after 2 songs. I was expecting the same and I got the same. Super disappointed.
Extremely forgettable. Super polished, but also super uninteresting. I really prefer rap that has some hint of an edge, and there's none to be found here. I did make it through, but I completely checked out during "Life is better", when I realized that the name dropping was really just a (maybe overly long) list of artists, I'd rather listen to than finish this album.
Meh.
Tried it 3x. Just not of my liking although not a bad album.
Hip hop bastante rollo. Sin nada que me llame la atención.
More enjoyable than I thought it would be, and would’ve enjoyed it more without the last song or two.
I realize it’s great lyrically and beat wise. Can’t stand the voice. Feels like chipmunks are spitting bars. 2 stars
I didn't like it but I didn't hate it which is an accomplishment for a rap album.
Mad respect for his producer cred and collaboration work but not a fan of this solo effort, his voice is too...Urkel. Collab songs are best. Added: Life is Better w/Norah Jones
Meh, just didn’t hit for me
Hip-Hop is not my favourite music. Q-Tip did not flashes me at all.
Well that was much better than I imagined. There was enough music here to support the below average rapping, and the backing vocals really lifted it. The album had a nice flow to it and was quite easy to listen to. I enjoyed ‘WeFight/WeLove’ and ‘Good Thang’. A low and generous 2 stars
Då har eg hørt da og
22/100 Based on this scale: 1 star - 0 to 19 2 stars - 20 to 39 3 stars - 40 to 59 4 stars - 60 to 79 5 stars - 80 to 100 Good rap is a rarity. This album is no surprise.
Vraiment moyen pour veai.meme en courant 2.5
2.5/5 The production on this album was top notch throughout but I found none of the songs particularly standout
Not to my taste, but that doens't make it bad. 2 or 3 in that it wasn't terrible to listen to.
I'm not the biggest fan of rapping. It's just usually too monotone for my tastes. I think his rap style is about average. The rest is fine for the most part.
I don't like it 2 stars
No, I don't like hip-hop.
I do not like rap usually, but there were a few good tracks I enjoyed on this album.
Thought I'd like way more.
Not bad beats, but the voice is too much.
It was an OK album, can't ever see me listening to it again.. meh! Had never heard of Q-tip before except for the cotton buds you get in the chemist. Tracks I liked... none Tracks I would play again... none So I guess all I can say is, if it was already on in the background then meh.. OK.
Don’t get this one
2/5 Best: Move Worst: ManWomanBoogie
Nuh uh - no Breathe and Stop, not worth it. Did 4 tracks and Stopped
Kinda boring to be honest
I was cold to this until I put on headphones I and began to enjoy the delicately laid instruments and samples, closer to Fleetwood Mac (Buckingham) than Public Enemy. My main problem remains: few of the songs stick to me, though Getting Up is a good tune. Slightly bored, I wanted to break my own rules and start skipping after the first minute of each song, as most felt predictable. You has some stick too, I suppose. This all slips easily down the earholes, and perhaps sticky tunes are deemed too disruptive for oyster-slurp passage. Same with what lyrics I caught: no imagery called out. The Renaissance is a lazy title, isn't it? The Comeback, The My Big Art, The Look Ma I Do It All.
It seems that I really don't like Q-Tip's music (3rd record on here including the Tribe Called Quest ones) - it's kinda boring and his voice is annoying. I was surprised to see the date on this one - the guests and the style sound very late '90s, consistent with the general tedium characteristic of that era. Not a winner
To my knowledge, I’ve never heard of Q-Tip before. Although hip hip doesn’t always click for me, I do love how the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die book is exposing me to more and more of it. Let’s listen and find out how this sounds! Songs I already knew: none Favourites: Gettin Up, Good Thang There were a few tracks here that I enjoyed, but a fair amount that felt somewhat forgettable. Nothing was particularly bad, but didn’t stand out enough to make me want to listen to more. Gettin Up reminded me a little of Childish Gambino which is possibly why I liked it more (I’m aware that this was released long before Gambino was making music, but I heard Gambino first). Overall, this was ok but I don’t expect I’ll be listening again.
Unfortunately I don’t speak hip hop
god, it's tiring
Not my thing
Like a barely remembered thought, this album drifted through my psyche, leaving nothing behind.
This was fine. It was not too hard core or anything. I'm not sure it will be memorable to me though.
A tame, trendy affair unlikely to offend or inspire. The rhythm is self-consciously cool and smooth but buzzes along in a very usual manner. Musically competent but rarely gripping I would happily put this in the box marked "clearly not for me"
"You" à la limite
it's not superbad but not great bob
What a disappointment. Mostly cheesy, poppy, r&b.
Some good ideas, but mainly repetitive and annoying
The beats are pretty basic; in most tracks, I couldn't tell you what the text is about, and the guy doesn't sound enthusiastic about them either. There are a couple of OK tracks, like "Move".
Q-Mid
meh
Funcionou bem a faixa com Norah Jones, obviamente.
Not doing it for me, sorry!
This album didn't really move me at all sadly. Favorite track: WeFight/WeLove
Not good.
This is alright again but one of those that I don't think is particularly memorable and I dunno why it's on the list. Good sound, deft flow at times, but I'm not gonna listen again.
Another odd choice of album to laud. Fairly pedestrian tap/hip hop album with no stand out moments at all. Passed me by for a very good reason.
“I don’t need a Top 40 Hit to hit you up, girl.” Yup, but she might not stick around without one.
This album didn't really move me at all sadly. Favorite track: WeFight/WeLove
Ok Good beats but not my thing.
Failed to make an impression on me. Maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace for it.
I found this record quite boring and without any song that I actually enjoyed unfortunately.
Semmi kiemelkedő nincs benne egy 2008-as Hip-hop lemezhez képest.
some glimmers of greatness in there but not my jam over all.
For the last time, overproducing an album does not make it sound "futuristic". Or maybe it does if one's perception of the future is where everything is robotic, colorless, and smells like bleach.
Easy listening hip hop, it blends in with the background smoothly but doesn’t do much to stand out either.
Nope.
Q-Tip does a decent job in this album but without the rest of the tribe the album falls a little flat. The production and beats are pretty decent. Q-Tip has a unique rapping style and voice. It’s not something that can carry a whole album in my opinion. I didn’t hate this album but for a hip-hop album I feel there are significantly better ones out there. 5.7/10
I didn't completely hate it. More pop than hip-hop, okay beats, cringy rhyming lyrics though, overall I found it boring.
Background hip hop. Decent beats though.
It came and went without offending or exciting. I didn't notice it leave.
This was not really for me, had a bit of a sameness to it...but when I see the praise for an album like this makes me feel like I just don't get it, and that's probably accurate.
Nahh.
Wasn’t too bad but not my kind of thing
Hmmmm found it a little bit dull I’m afraid
Very meh. It's not awful but it's not even close to being worthy of the list.
I really did not enjoy any part of this album.
Didn’t care for it
Progressive hip-hop? *groooooooooooans* I swear this project is closing my mind more than opening it. There were some good beats, I'll give it that. But the vocals were so grating. It's not my scene, I don't like it, no thank you.
Not bad. 2.5/5
Not my style.
Struggled to even give this one two stars
Half decent.
Samples and grooves are excellent, lyrics unfortunately not so eargrabbing. Shame.
I would say Won't Trade was my favourite off this album and I from the plays on Spotify, I can see why this is the hit. I enjoyed the more upbeat funky-ness of it and the sample track was fun. I got a bit tired of the other ones, repetitive use of jazz chords - it felt a bit one sided and the tracks all just blurred into one.
2/5 naaaah
Boring. I’m not a fan of hiphop.
I didn't really give this my full attention. It sounds like the type of album you need to really focus on to gain any kind of reward. I liked the more jazzy moments. I didn't his voice a little... whiney.
Harmless, but ultimately nondescript.
04/30/2022 Not for me.
A chilled and funky hip hop album. Not really my thing and doesn't seem all that innovative, but it's inoffensive and listenable. I got a little bored by the end. Rating: 2/5 Playlist track: Won't Trade Date listened: 20/04/22
Eh. Rap. Not a promising start to the week....
Very 2000s Hip-Hop mixed with synth pop. Not terrible but not a single thing I latched onto.
Didn't blow me away, but there were some nice beats here.
Jazz rap that's pretty smooth. Nothing particularly stood out as exceptional, but clean overall. Liked it.
Not my kind of music not terrible but not one I would listen to again
Hip hop bastante rollo. Sin nada que me llame la atención.
good listening experience
I thought the progressive aspects of this album as they pertain to hip-hop were definitely on display, making this album seem fresh in comparison to a lot of the hip-hop I've heard in the past decade or so. For hip-hop, his voice is incredibly smooth and the music was laid back. That said, this album and the tracks on it ultimately didn't resonate with me very much; it was easy to listen to, but for me, it was "just okay".
Not as bad as most of its ilk
Beetje saai. Steeds hetzelfde trucje.
Wat een vriendelijke rap. Verder niet zo verheffend.
fairly annoying
Not my style but enjoyed the album
Not my cup of tea. Nothing really lands, does it? A bit of a cotton candy album - looks great but take a bit and there's little of substance there.
It's good, but it's just really boring to me. Probably won't be listening again
Not me but nowlt awful.
Coñazo. Hip hop
Not my thing at all.
Hmmm.. Prince meets James Brown meets Grandmaster flash?
Not bad, just not great.
Definitely getting a tribe called quest vibes here. It's definitely okay. It's no kanye, Roots, or kendrick lamar. Lots of good collabs. I can see broad appeal here, but I'm not feeling the passion in this album. I listened to this album like four times, but I don't see a need to listen again. Fav song is Life is better (norah jones is too cool). 2.5
4.5
Meh
Okay.
kay
eh, could not get full version but head enough
Meh. 5/10

"Won't trade" and "Life is better" were okay... But I think the style is just not for me.
kinda like a mix between rap and drum & bass. not really my style - it just exists in a space I don't care about. 2/5 overall - would have given it a 3 cause it's not awful, but the songs all sound too similar. like the whole album uses the exact same formula, just resprayed for each new song.
This was an uninteresting album. Not bad on a technical level, just forgettable in every sense of the word. Norah Jones being featured was a plus.
Production: timeless and layered, bordering on lush. Rapping and rhymes: don't live up to the beats? Hooks: catchier and more melodic than I expected. This has a "songwriterly" quality that prophesied the 2010s work of Kanye, Kendrick, and Travis (although Renaissance doesn't have near the dynamic range). Enjoyable, but if I'm being mean: inconsequential...does not demand attention...stuff you put on while you're paying the bills. Man, I thought for sure that the intro guitar on "Shaka" was later sampled by Rihanna on "Woo"...but no???
Not really my thing. The track featuring Norah Jones was OK.
Is there a good way to listen to this? Not impressed by the production or delivery, and the lyrics were bad, like this conscious stuff just seems like you have to name drop the history of old school hip hop, or you can rap about the same stuff as other guys as long as you make it sound not fun. Oh and add a jazz beat.
Eh
Honestly what kind of name is Q-Tip, hate it!
Everybody seems to like this album so I wondered that when I give it a 1 star rating it will end up (at -2.24) on my ‘albums I love lees than most’ list. However, on checking it seems that it is not quite bad enough. A pity really because it is still utter drivel. For an explanation why this is please refer to my previous reviews of rap albums. 1/5 3/6/26
No idea what's great about this. Times are OK and the taking pretty harmless. Basically middle of the road rap. Not fur me
Gettin' Up
1. jonny - 1 2. trade - 1 3. up - 2 4. official - 2 5. you - 2 6. fight - 1 7. boogie - 1 8. move - 2 9. glazz - 1 10. life - 2 11. believe - 2 12. zhaka - 1
Hogwash.
eh
rap, RnB, 2008 -> 1
This album is not my forte. I do appreciate the grooves that are laid down, but I don't care for this one a lot.
Still not my genre
No
Furchtbar dieser funky groove. Da kann es noch lange Hip-Hop sein.
Und wieder wird gestottert und gepöbelt! Mist!
This is not for me
I don't understand hip hop.
Why is there yet another Hip-Hop album in this list? I don't care if it's Progressive Hip-Hop or Regresive Hip-Hop, it's still pointless, boring crap. The universal acclaim from music critics doesn't seem to be reflected in the low sales and the low number of listens on Spotify, so I think the critics (and this list compiler) have got it wrong.
All right but doesn't seem worthy of this list.
Not a rap fan
No no no
I had it on as background music, completely uninterested and ready to score it a 2. About halfway through I moved it to earphones where I could listen more actively and thought, nope this shit ain’t worth a 2. All American hip hop is the same old trash.
Hip Hop, 44eme album =>1/5
Meh
Nope
found this really tedious and annoying
Yuck
Every song sounded like the song preceding it and following it. Pass.
I’ve heard worse.
Not for me
Do not understand this genre at all.
No. Can't get into this.
This is just run off the mill rap
Meh....
no
No thanks
.
It an interesting album. Music boring and monotonous.
Not a genre I like, not an album in this genre that changes my mind. I was completely bored listening to this.
Ok
p919. 2008. 1 star. Hip-hop, so wrong audience. Seems well done but... meh. It speaks volumes that the best tracks are those with samples from other artists.
I fail to understand how many of this albums classified as something that should be listened to before one's death...
yikes, hogwash washed up kids rap. this dude is not good and his lyrics are something to be desired. dont be redundant and then tell me youre a legend. horseshit.
no me gusta nada!!
This album has good beats, if that's what you are looking for. his style is very smooth, as it comes naturally to him. not my type of music but I guess I would listen to it? out of five stars I would probably give it a 2.5 but since that's not possible I give it a 2.
have you ever heard bad like this I think the album move Q tip is a bad album I don't like the lyrics or instruments the the sounds that were being made by the singer were annoying and the instruments didn't fit I felt that they didn't fit cause it was kinda random I didn't even know what was going on in the lyrics I think this album is bad and don't recommend listening to it
Do you like boring hip hop? If so, then this is the album for you. His voice is too boring for the background, and the background is just plain boring. The songs are also just boring in general. The lyrics are also boring. So anyway I recommend that you DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM!!!
I found this bland and boring but I really don't like or get rap so just 1 star or F.
Love tribe but wtf was this seriously, 1-2 good songs
Great, Hip Hop another album filled with incredibly annoying "singing". Gave up after track 3 as life is just too short to waste listening to this crap.
Nope
sucks
Rap.. no
Hm. I feel very little about this barring a slight irritation at the voice. Maybe it's the wrong day, but it's a pass from ch'boi.
And slowly I lose the will to live
At a very low volume, this is minimally tolerable to listen to, for a short time. There must be something being said in the lyrics but I'm just not compelled to listen closely. Pass. When will the dozens and hundreds of albums that I know and love, that must be on this list of 1001 albums come my way to listen to?
Q-Tip=N-Shit.
Grottiger Progressive Hip Hop.
The samples are good, then he starts talking in that wimpy, nasal style. Gets very boring very quickly.
No
Generic. This guy was in A Tribe Called Quest which already doesn’t say much for me as I rated their last entry a 2. This is just another generic sounding rap record to me. At least he did have one good song that I enjoy but for that you have to look up Deee-Lite’s Groove is in the Heart. And who the hell calls themself after a cotton wool bud for gods sake!
It was OK in places. Never going to listen to it again. Not sure why he was talking about a shoe on one track.
This is totally not for me. Just not a fan of hip hop at all. At least I didn't skip any songs but I was so glad when it was over.
hmmmm not a hip hop fan
dire
Every song sounds the same. I've walked back and forth from my stereo a few times and wondered if the album is repeating or if I'm on the same track.
No thanks
Meh
Ok, but not my taste in music. Listened to the whole thing though.
Non è il mio genere di musica.
