Классика! Отличный альбом, с которого стартовала классическая Флойдовская четвёрка

OMGGGGGGGGGGG FAVS (top 3): on the run, the reat gig in the sky, money mençoes honrosas: breathe (in the air), us and them, eclipse um album MUITO bom q vale todo o hype, muito boa as musicas e transiçoes, um lindo projeto de ouvir do começo ao fim seguido eu amo muito nota final: 5/5

Timeless

I've always felt this is the lesser of the Big Four Pink Floyd albums. And so it remains. But each ithise is a masterpiece.

I understand why this album is a classic. I enjoy most of the songs. I think I will need another listen to really make a final rating

I could listen to some of these tracks and never tire; Breathe is a timeless masterpiece that is so evocative my words can't do it justice. While it has a lull in the second half it finishes strongly with Eclipse. Visionary work that deserves its hype.

Legemdär

It's a classic for a reason. Sounds amazing in headphones.

Years ago this album started my obsession with the Floyd. Still hits just as hard now as it did then. Life changing record right here and will be talked about for generations to come.

5/5. Incredible album. Concept, execution, and production are all on point. Absolutely worth a full listen or two.

one of the greatest albums ever, no notes

Este álbum necesita su propia puntuación.

One of the greatest

What is there to say about DSoTM that hasn't already been said countless times before? This is an all time classic album. Not my favorite Pink Floyd album, but in the top 5. This is the album that fully showed their developed musical maturity and cemented them into the legendary status. It's the beginning of one of the greatest 4 album streaks in rock; Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall. Brilliant arrangements, musicality, and production. That production in particular still holds up very well. Definitely Floyd in their prime, and a prime that lasted through the rest of the 70s. 5 of 5

Listened while at home. I mean it's a classic. However I've always felt that it takes itself way too seriously with its heavy handed social commentary and interview clips woven throughout. The good far outweighs the bad and it's of course a five star classic.

It’s a masterpiece. I’m speechless.

No explanation needed

Indisputably one of the GOAT albums.

Why have I not listened to this before? It’s amazing

One of my older brothers bought this album in the 70s so I have been listening to it and enjoying it nearly all my life. I can't think of a better application of the word masterpiece than to this album.

10 / 10

Immediate 5 I didn’t even listen before writing that down. I mean come on. One of the greatest albums ever. A true album project, where it’s a journey from song to song. It’s a genuine masterpiece and so widely regarded as such. It’s some sort of auditory drug that shifts your state of mind if you sit and give it your full attention. There are few pieces of music let alone entire albums that truly do this to me. Now for the notes I have while/after listening. I’m so happy to have a reason to come back to this and dig in a bit deeper. There is not a single song on here that I had any desire to skip. That is my bare minimum requirement to give an album a 5. It far surpasses the minimum.

I'm not here to be a contrarian. It's a great album, it's really well done, the songs obviously stand the test of time, money and time are masterpiece songs, Eclipse is a banger and so is Breathe. Lyrically this thing goes from overworldly to "did he really just do that rhyme" but mostly the prior. I don't know what the mental block on this album is for me. It's great, I just never want to listen to anything other than Time or Money. Maybe that's because the whole thing flows so well and it really is more of an experience as a whole, but I don't know, best album of all time? Definitely not. I think in a void if I was served this and I had never heard of it or anything off it this would be an easy 5, and I do own it on vinyl already, so I guess I just have to go 5. But personally, I am not fully sold on this record.

One of the greatest albums of all time. A true classic that is never outdated.

I don’t even need to listen to this album, but I will. Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon might very well be one of my desert island albums. You know, if I were marooned on a desert island and could take five albums with me, what would they be? Dark Side very likely would be one. I love this album so much. It took me a while to get into the Floyd. My younger brother was an early adopter when he went to college. Weird thing is, neither of us smokes weed. At least that's the common stereotype people think of when they think of Pink Floyd listeners. My brother kept talking about how great they were, I thought Pink Floyd was old people music and turns out, I’m an idiot. Pink Floyd, for a stretch af about five albums, were the best band in the world. Dark Side is a concept album of sorts, dealing with the band’s lifestyle and its hardships. It also deals with the departure of one of the founders of the band and early creative source, Syd Barrett. Barrett, at some point, possibly after a large number of acid trips, began having mental health struggles, and the band knew they couldn’t move forward with him as their leader, so he was out of the band. It sounds cold, and truthfully, it probably was, but that's what had to happen. Because Dark Side is a concept album, once I start it, I have to finish it. To me, it’s all one song, as one song leads perfectly into the next. To listen to a single song and not hear the next song feels wrong. Track three, Time, is my favorite song on the album. I love the sound of the guitars on the whole album, but on Time they are extra incredible. Plus, the lyrics, at least for an idiot like me, are pretty profound. I’ve often thought time is a human construct. Time can speed up and slow down in certain situations. When you’re young or bored or distinerested, time seemingly slows down, but when you’re old or locked in on something or having fun, time seems to fly. I think time isn’t just seconds, to minutes, to hours. Time is magic, it’s cosmic. “And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.” That lyric hits you hard no matter how old you are, but especially when you’re not a kid anymore and, “And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.” Track five, Money, is the song everyone has heard from this album. They may not know it’s Pink Floyd, but they’ve heard it on the radio, if radio still exists. It was the first single off the album. Money has more great-sounding guitars, and they even sneak a sax solo in the middle of the song. It’s got time signature changes, and the lyrics are about the power of money and how it affects society. The lyrics of Money sound like they could’ve been written today, though it seems today, most billionaires are into much darker extremes than buying football teams. The second single off the album was Us and Them. It seems everyone loves this song, but it’s my least liked song on the album. Yes, I know it has a sax solo, but I don’t know. Money is so good that I think any song that followed it would be a bit of a letdown. Maybe it's the slowness. This song feels like you're running in molasses. "And who knows which is which?" Did you ever cue up Dark Side and The Wizard of Oz? I did. In fact, I think my group of friends and I did it a couple of times. Not a weed smoker in the bunch. Yes, there were lots of times the music matched the movie or vice versa. When "who knows which is which" plays, in the movie, the Wicked Witch shows up and to face Glenda the Good Witch and Dorothy. There was some freaky stuff, but I’d say you could cue up any album to any movie and get quite a few freaky coincidences. Track 8, Brain Damage, is about mental illness and Barrett. “There’s someone in my head, but it’s not me” is a chilling lyric. The song has a beautiful choir singing in the background, but the music is very carnival-like. It has an edge to it, but sounds very sweet. The closing track, Eclipse comes in with amazing organs. Richard Wright was an unsung hero of the band. The choir is singing along with Roger Waters, and according to him, he's singing about “all the good things life can offer are there for us to grasp, but that the influence of some dark force in our natures prevents us from seizing them.” We need to make sure all that we say and all that we do stays in the sun and doesn’t end up on the dark side of the moon. Listen to this album, if you haven’t, and listen to it again if you have. It’s a definite must-hear top album of all time.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said about one of the great pieces of 20th century art

Don't even really have to listen to this to give it 5 stars (but will happily do so), it is one of my favourite albums of all time.

I’m not sure I’ve ever listened to this entire album as a whole. It’s weird and wonderful. 9/10 Outstanding (I’m not sure what I’m saving my “10/10 Godlike” for. Maybe I’ll go back and edit a few later on.)

It’s something higher than a 5, though I’m personally not quite at a 10. I’ve never heard this album in full. I’ve never even gone out of my way to look up a track from the album. It just seemed like a monolith that I was always too scared to tackle, on account of the near-universal acclaim. Of course, it’s inescapable. Every track here had something I had heard before, whether it be from SiIvaGunner rips, online edits, or just catching them occasionally over the years on the radio. As a full project though, I’m stunned at just how coherently it all flows together, with lots of audio callbacks throughout. This feels more akin to an audio drama as opposed to an album, but the sound design is the glue that keeps it all together. The instrumentals feel as potent (if not moreso) than the vocals & lyrics, which are already really well-written & performed. “Time”, “Money” & “Us and Them” in particular are the obvious lyrical standouts, but they also contain fantastic instrumental sections that overshadow those lyrics. I don’t even have to say anything else about “The Great Gig in the Sky” as a track – it’s just that good on its own. Ironically enough, since it’s such a strongly flowing 43 minutes, I find it hard to really focus on this as a track-by-track album and just more of a 43 minute experience. In a weird way, that might be why I’m not at a 10 with it? Part of that is because I just don’t think it’s as good as “Wish You Were Here” & arguably not as good as “The Wall”, which both feel like equal or better Pink Floyd albums to me. Of course, comparing any of these 3 albums to each other is like picking between 3 different gold watches – there’s literally not a wrong answer. However, as a fully connected album experience, I found myself… not “unable” to catch the vibes, but I think on a first pass, I was too intent on trying to “get” the album as opposed to naturally letting them come to me. That might just be the overwhelming expectations I set for myself going in, and I’ll probably be a lot looser on future listens (because it’s certainly good enough to warrant many more). Of course, there’s not a “correct” answer for how to interpret Dark Side of the Moon. It just comes to you, and while the intent of a life from start to finish is there, everyone has their own way they digest this album. That’s part of the prism of the album cover. For me, I think I was expecting some grand magnum opus far ahead of its time that influenced everything for years to come (and it honestly probably is), but ultimately, what I think I’ve ended up listening to is just a fantastically flowing set of tracks (“just” doing some heavy lifting here). For better or worse, I’m just not as totally blown away as I thought I would be, like I have been at the end of some other albums on the list, and I think that’s where I’m holding myself back from a 10. As it stands though, it is easily deserving of its acclaim, and it’s probably a top 15 album of the 1970s, bare minimum. It never once falters, it never finds a bad track, it never hits a lull point – maybe a bit self-indulgent at points with some solos or whatever, but the entire experience flies by brilliantly. I think anything lower than a 4 is criminal, and I’m certainly still higher than a 5 on a first pass. I’m glad to finally have listened to it, and I really want to listen to it more.

It's so ingrained in our consciousness at this point, that it can be easy to dismiss. Late nights driving, bonfires with friends, and planetarium shows do not dull the power of the music one iota. The band will change and they will move in very different directions as the personal relationships start to fracture and business really starts to get in the way of the music, but this will always be a perfect document

I do love me some Fink Ployd

5/5! AHHHH! What can I say about this album that hasn't already been said. TIME!

Easy 5. Every second of this record is iconic, the album artwork even moreso.

Amazing. Such a great album. Loved it. It's iconic for a reason!

My fourth and final Pink Floyd album has finally arrived. I made it to album number 1055 before getting my shot at reviewing it, and I was thinking/hoping that this would wind up being my last album, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. It’s been a really long time since I’ve listened to this album, and out of the three Syd-less Pink Floyd albums on this list, Dark Side is probably my least favorite. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a brilliant album, but I just prefer Wish You Were Here and The Wall. However, my opinions have changed quite a bit on some albums as I’m going through this list, so I’m curious to see how I’ll feel about it once I’ve listened to it today. After listening to it today, I’d still rank Dark Side below Wish You Were Here and The Wall, but it’s still an incredible album. Dark Side is the ultimate ‘better than the sum of its parts’ album. There’s nothing in the actual music itself that stands out to me, and there’s no song that I would pick out from this album to listen to on its own. Instead, every aspect of the music works together in perfect harmony, creating a sound that really does feel like the dark side of the moon. This album is cold and lonely in its sound, which really forces the listener to take in every aspect of the sound and reflect on the lyrics. This album may not have any songs that I particularly like on their own, but the whole album feels like one continuous work. And it’s not just because the segues from song to song are brilliant, but because everything feels so bound together by the way the sound and mood are created and then carried from song to song, like a torch being passed. I think that this is a really fun album to turn and let it wash over you. For an album so gentle and spacey, it demands your full attention when you listen to it. While Dark Side of the Moon isn’t my favorite album by any stretch, I can’t think of another album that makes me feel like this when I listen to it. While I might be bummed that this wasn’t my final album to review, I’m glad I got to revisit this classic today.

phenomenal, phenomal album. "brain damage" might be one of my favourite songs from the album, but honestly everything was a masterpiece!!

First time sitting down and listening to this all the way through, it definitely earns the five star title. It just slowed down a little bit here and there, but the songs are gorgeous. Vocals are great, lyrics are very evocative, everything feels in the right place.

Perfection

Weird, claustrophobic and tremendous.

One of my favorite classic rock albums....along with every other person in history.

This was the first album that ever made me feel like I was existing in a different plane of reality. When I first heard songs like Breathe and The Great Gig in the Sky, I felt so much that I can’t even articulate it to this day. As a kid, I would sit and visualize scenes in my head as I listened to this album- that’s how cinematic it is. It’s also immaculately produced, masterfully performed, and flows from track to track effortlessly. It’s deserving of its recognition.

I mean yea.

It's the album I use to test audio systems. One of the best of all time.

This album is on this list for a reason. Funny that the version we got here is studio + live concert so you have to hear it twice and it's only another positive,

Fabuloso!!

Sali a caminar con el album. Nunca lo habia escuchado de corrido es hermoso e increiblee

so very cinematic and beautiful, almost narrative driven in a way, and the music bleeds into each ofher so well 9.5/10 (the .5 is just cuz them tryna not give clare torry her royalties for her beautiful hootin and hollerin on the great gig TUH)

Beautiful.

I am not exactly sure that reviewing The Dark Side Of The Moon is a fruitful endeavor, although I suppose that has never stopped me before. I think this *actually* may be the single most discussed LP ever. At least I'm pretty sure it's top ten. I may as well be reviewing carbon or limestone or groundwater. "Yup that's groundwater, 5/5". You could probably finish this review for me: it doesn't matter who you are. It's excellent, it flows as a cohesive piece of art, everyone knows every song, it isn't my favorite Pink Floyd album, it doesn't matter, we're talking about Dark Side. This whole exercise was functionally an excuse to spin Dark Side again, then flash a thumbs up. Yeah, it's a 5, it has to be, it isn't even really a matter of opinion, it's a fact of life. Don't get me wrong, I love the album, but even if I didn't, "Dark Side is overrated" is as big a trap as "Dark Side is perfect". You've just gotta play into fate on this one, then review an album where your opinion matters a little more the next day.

One of the greatest albums of all time. Iconic. 5/5

Perfect! and not only because everybody else says so - but because it is

I get it now. I started one track just to get a taste of this before bed. Surely I'll recognize most of the music from this hugely referenced album. Before you know it I was laying in the dark, transported. Not at all what I pictured when I'd heard this talked about. What a vision

Got already

Really like the concept of this album. I guess it is a concept album, but it sounds so interesting. You really don’t know what’s coming next, majorly genre bending. Can see why this is on the list because you must listen to this at least once in your life.

I've never been one to completely gush about this album, but time and age has revealed some key elements of it's themes and production which really stand out to me. I would really like to sit down with the vinyl record with a good pair of headphones and pour over the lyric sheet for the full "experience." It's an absorbing work that embraces the harsh realities of existence like staring down the barrel of a shotgun.

A true classic that lasts through generations

Chill, I like the uniqueness

A timeless classic of course, its an experience. Money, time and brain damage transport me everytime

5 stars. No notes required.

Incredible flow, probably the best ever.

Already very familiar with it. A total classic

Ok, I have to admit this is actually really good (despite me having called Pink Floyd "overrated" in the past). Deserves its five stars. Now I just need a two-star Pink Floyd album to round out the straight.

This album gave me my first existential crisis when I was 10 years old

classic 5 stars

This is meant to be listened to as an album! Loved money especially since I got to listen to it with the video

Soo good

The ultimate trippy classic rock album for thinking deep thoughts to while in an altered state of consciousness. No critiques, no complaints.

THE GREATEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME

omg loved it

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fantastic album! Was incredibly ahead of its time. Not my favorite Pink Floyd project but still is absolutely incredible. Great guitar playing and flow to the album and Time is one of the greatest songs ever!

Awesome

ça m'a rendu encore plus triste que je l'étais déjà maintenant j'ai juste envie de me suicider

Masterpiece! And my gold standard for backup singer inspo.

amazing, obviously. time is still my fave

Perfection

I hold with the general consensus that this album rocks. I don’t think it’s the best in their catalogue (that might be 'Wish You Were Here'), but I do think it’s great and moving. I grew up listening to it (so I’m biased I guess) and whenever I put it on again I go “Yep, it’s still really good.” Proclamations of overrated or overplayed do not budge me.

One of "the big ones". 100% deservedly so.

As an album-listening experience, this album is brilliant. The way it all flows together is fantastic. In the age of streaming though, the songs independently are not quite as fun to listen to. For example, I would never want to listen to 'On the Run' on its own. However, Brain Damage into Eclipse is sooooo good that it earns that fifth star.

Classic and is good as a whole

I saw the cover and I went "okay, easy 5 stars", but then I decided that that wasn't fair. Does one of the go-to greatest rock albums of all time deserve a pass? Absolutely not. I decided to listen to it with a critical ear, as if I had never heard it before. Result? I’m more than 500 albums into the list and this is still one of the best I’ve heard. 5+⭐️

Time is the best song ever.

no notes, takes me back to moms minivan

Let's be honest. This is a masterpiece. Music as art. Inherently yet not overtly political, enormous and bombastic, clever and refined. This record is held to lofty standards and it overshoots them. Phenomenal.

A great journey from start to end, every song is a hit

put it in the louvre!

Bello bello già ascoltato

Great album, totally immersive listening

Perfect sounding record. Side 2 is some of the best music ever recorded.

Really quite good.

Already heard, it’s an absolute classic yet not being Pink Floyd’s best. Experimental but also an acceptable record to put on for others who haven’t heard of Pink Floyd before, almost maximalist in terms of sound and a good album to hear while high. Great gig and the sky will always transcend me. Brain Damage/Eclipse still might be my fav Pink Floyd behind Echos 95/100

So much has been said about this album and my contribution to the discussion… pretty much perfection.

Near the top of my Best Albums of All Time list.

Nothing like it.

Perfect all the way through

It's a 10 but fuck Roger Waters.

Not much that hasn't already been said. This is one of the best of all time, and it's not even my favorite Floyd album. I love the song writing, I love how every instrument plays off each other, I love the production. It's one of the best sounding records ever. It's focus and conceptually consistent. There will never be another album quite like this one, and crazier still, I got it on my 6th day. Standout Tracks: Breathe (In the Air), Time, Great Gig in the Sky, Brain Damage.

Start the album at the third roar of the MGM lion at the beginning (not the third roar of the character the cowardly lion). From what I remember, play through twice. Also, check out "Dub Side of the Moon" by Easy Star All-Stars. It's a reggae cover of entire album. Five stars there too.

Absolutely fucking perfect. Still one of my favorite albums of all time. It's slow to start (on purpose obviously) but when you get into us and them, any color, then brain damage into eclipse, fucking chills every single time

Really good album. Being one ofbthe greatests albums of all time make sense. Now i understand what people ment by that. Its so atmospheric and emotional, every song impact my soul. Time was exepcional, my favorite so far.

I get it. It’s great. The transitions were also wonderful.

I laid on the floor and listened to this on vinyl which is the proper way to listen to this. This album makes me think of my mom because it’s hers and she loves Pink Floyd, and also because Time was a pretty formative song for me wanting to live my life on my own terms and in opposition to the life I saw her living (which in high school I told her was a sad and miserable one… still regret that 💔). Damn that song is fucking cool and the build/intro is so exciting. And the sax on Us and Them is awesome. The guitar solos throughout are so good. This album is such a fun ride meant to be taken from top to bottom.

One of the strongest albums of all time. The songs are tight and fit together seamlessly. The guitar work, lyrics, and vocals are extremely well executed. A drummer friend pointed out that the drumming is pedestrian at best. But i think that’s a feature not a flaw in this context. The very steady, uneventful, not-so-creative drumming evokes the status quo “machine” that Pink Floyd rails against. Even their weakness is a strength. A 5.

I feel like I need to put this as a 5/5 just because of what it is meant to be, rather than what is actually is. The good is that the entire album flows so effortlessly, has great components, and is a fun listen. The bad is that the album feels a bit empty at times, but nothing that makes it bad. I am too young to fully understand the gravity of what Dark Side of the Moon meant, so I'll trust the elders. 5/5.

I can't imagine anything anyone has to say about this album hasn't been said by someone already. There are a lot of artists that have multiple albums on this list but I've seen 3 and they were all 5 stars. I'm unsure if they have more but hard to find a flaw in the wall, wish you were here, or dark side.

Really enjoyed listening to this Album

It's day #4 and this album is at the top of my list. I wouldn't be surprised if it's still that way on day #1004.

I’m not the biggest fan of the instrumentals, and I think they maybe show their age a bit, but they’re still enjoyable and every other song is just lights out. Time is one of my favorites, us and them is groooovy, and brain damage/eclipse is as fine a closer as you could hope for

The rare album that seems to float outside the time they made it. Wanted to offer something contrarian but sometimes classics are classics for a reason.

A person can only dream to possess the creativity necessary to imagine such an album, let alone the musical talent to execute the vision.

Considering how many times my brother and friends got high to this, I’ve probably heard this album a few hundred times. It’s still rad.

Man do I love this album. Every up and coming stoner owns a copy of this at one point in time. A perfect album when accompanied by some incense, a lava lamp, and a fat ol’ doobie.

What can I say that hasn't been said already? Can't get over how much of a masterpiece "Time" is.....the rest of it is pretty dang good too.

Arguably the best album by Pink Floyd - if you don't go for Wish You Were Here or the first two albums with Syd Barrett. It's a tough choice because this one is perfect from the beginning to the end. "Us and Them" and "Time" and "Money" are standouts, but it all fits great together.

The best album ever!

Much better late at night under certain conditions, but considered a classic for a reason

As a huge Pink Floyd fan - a 5 star rating here is a no brainer. This album is pretty much flawless, iconic, and the band are masters at expressing emotion musically and lyrically. Designed to make you feel, think, question. I believe everyone should hear this album once (even if they don't end up liking it that's fine we all have different tastes, but it should be listened to). The production is utterly sublime, all the added layers and extra effects; talking, laughing, to be a fly on the wall during the recording sessions. I could go on all day. Simply a masterpiece.

Yeah okay FINE. Take the stars

Richtig gute Musik. Kreativ, abswechslungsreich, atmosphärisch, nie langweilig, tolle Stimmen, tolle Instrumente. Verstehe, dass das auf einer Top-Liste landet. Erwarte aber auch noch Brick in the Wall und freue mich drauf.

All time favorites

The house I grew up in was not a musical one, and certainly not a secular music one, but of the very few CD's my dad did own, this was one. I recall playing it in my room as a 10 year old and being amazed. How is it that an album like this connects with a kid? This has always amazed me. 5 stars!

Oh my. As good now as it was when released

really, there's a need for explanation ?

... obviously... Any Colour You Like sounds like Down by the River

Well, I may not feel the need to listen to it that often anymore, if ever, but it doesn't change the fact that this is an absolute classic. I've grown really fond of the deeper cuts on this, this is the kind of album that will reveal something new with each listen, forever.

Album 990 of this list. Finally, a good album.

At the beginning of my adolescence, I stumbled upon the track "Us & Them" and it changed my life. It was the first time I'd ever felt something so transcendent while listening to music. I knew from then on, it was a feeling I would constantly seek in my listening. This album was a game changer for me, and for many others. It's a cliché, sure, but there's no denying it. Perhaps one of the most important albums in history.

You have to listen at least once. An atmospheric adventurous album tha still manages to have radio hits.

Good album

Gonna use this box to say that "any color you like" is among the most underrated songs of the century

Easy 5 on this one, know it by memory alone. Clearly one of the most iconic albums of all time and one of the bestsellers for a good reason, but not my fav PF album.

I actually didn’t really understand this album until I took acid and saw a planetarium laser show for it. The CGI was clearly made in the 70s and had never been updated; even hallucinating it still looked so bad. Like dancing cash registers and dollar signs to Money. A little on the nose. The music hit hard though. It blew my mind. I think this was a foundational experience in me broadening my music taste and getting more into music overall. A real cornerstone.

Hot take: This is a good album

I needed a break, that's nice. A 5 See you tomorrow. I feel like anything that can be added was said in my review for the wall. This one is not different. This is an undisputed classic (it shouldn't be anyway) and I believe that for generations to come it will keep blowing up kids minds, just like it did for me.

Classic, but have to be in the mood for it!

6/5 no point adding to what others have said.

This is just one of the best albums ever made. It's hard to even find something to criticise. Beautiful, dark, thought provoking, instrumentally brilliant, the synths on this record are out of the world. The guitar playing is just stunning. I even like the saxophone.

What is there left to say that hasn't been iterated upon thousands of times? While some of the bass lines and vocal melodies can be a little "samey", they are uniformly enjoyable. This is undoubtedly a classic of psychedelic rock (and rock in general) that stands the test of time. It's interesting, fun, and (at times) thought-provoking. Fantastic guitar, driving bass, and an overall enthralling listen. This is a no-skipper for me, and just short of a perfect 5/5, although I am a bit of a stickler for that sort of stuff. If 4.7 existed, that would be my real score for this. I'm going to be hearing "bum....tap...ba-bumbum tap" in my head for the rest of the day. 5/5

Amazing album. As if this isn’t great enough with epic tracks like Time, Money, and Us and Them, this packs so much more into this incredible effort. So many different colors, from the trippy On The Run, to the gospelish The Great Gig in the Sky, to the tight bow at the end which is Eclipse. And yet it all just fits together amazingly well. A true masterpiece and easily one of the top few albums of all time.

the transition between the first few songs was soo smooth and satisfying! Really enjoyed the whole album!

Probably the most anticipated album on this list, and I can honestly say this is my first time listening to it. Of course, i've heard all the things like syncing it up with Wizard of Oz and all that stuff, but never listened to it. First, the continuity and track transitions are flawless. I love with one track seamlessly runs into the other and every song on this album does a wonderful job. The album was gripping from start to finish. I love the psychedelic nature of it where you can just get lost in the music. Lost in thought. A musical trance. I like that most of it is without lyrics. I like the theme and concept of the album, which is probably why it resonated with so many people. Yeah it sounds great, but the theme is problems that every day normies deal with.......not just Pink Floyd. Time, Money, Mental Health, dying, all these stresses that plague everyone. We don't need a metaphor for it when it's constantly there, looming. I love that they use the snippets from the interviews with people in the studio throughout the album, which adds to the grounded nature of the album. Not a fan of the intro to Time with all the alarms going off. Come on, that's just wrong. How am I supposed to fall asleep to this album? Other than that it's just wonderful. The harmony with Wright and Gilmour in Breathe is insane. First listen I figured it was a recording technique like in The Beatles Revolver with ADT, but it was two people......that sound the same......in harmony. Really cool. I am less of a fan of the song Money though since it really breaks the psychedelic theme of the record. But what do I know? Money is the most listened to song on the album. I mean the song is fine, I just don't think it fits in the album and definitely sticks out in a bad way. Pulls your out of the contemplative mood that the entire album puts you in to play a "dad rock" radio hit......and then Us and Them lulls you into the mood again. A-side would be perfect without the stupid alarm clocks ruining my day. B-Side would be perfect if they replaced Money with a song that sounded a bit more consistent with the rest of the album.

One of the best albums ever. Breathe is such an amazing opener.

Iconic music along & perhaps the most iconic album cover artwork of all time?. Proper album rather than a collection of tracks . This was the second album thrown to me in the 1001 list so I struggled to hand out a 5 so early in the campaign. Some slightly indulgent early 70's druggy synth wasnt enough to nudge this from a 5. Dear Lord those backing vocals (Claire Torry) too.

How can you not give this album a 5? Likely one of the best Pink Floyd albums out there.

Hi Madeline & Matthew, today is the day of your wedding and this is the album! How fitting. Nothing to say about this album that hasn’t already been said. I’m happy that this record has been a soundtrack to night hikes in the past. 5/5 the 1001 albums list works it’s magic once again

Really holds up. A truly excellent album. Compelling and haunting, so many interesting moments throughout.

One of the best ever. Put it on and forget about everything else.

One of humankind’s crowning artistic achievements. Enough said.

This was an album I was excited to see pop up - always happy to re-listen to it. Amazing album!

Dark Side of the Moon was released in 1973 and didn’t leave the Billboard charts for 14 years. 'nuff said really, but I'll add some personal thoughts. Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands. Forty years ago, however, I wouldn’t put this in my top three Pink Floyd albums. I liked the catchier songs on The Wall (and how can you not love the guitar solo in Comfortably Numb?) and the longer, more “prog” rock songs of Animals and Wish You Were Here. But now, I’d probably put this at number one. I think it strikes a nice balance between the very long songs of Animals and WYWH and the more radio-friendly songs of The Wall. For a long time, when discussing the album, I would mention that I didn’t like the “screaming black lady” in the middle of the album. First, the lady, Clare Torry, is white. But more importantly, that song is amazing. One time, after complaining to a friend about the “wailing,” someone said, “That’s what makes the song amazing. Listen again.” And I did, and they were right. The emotion and vocals are beautiful. I still listen to this a few times a year, always straight through. It’s not a greatest-hits album. It’s one long inhale and exhale. One of the best albums ever made.

Time Us and Them Any colour you like Breathe in the air Great gig in the sky Brain damage Eclipse

I tried to listen to this as if I'd never heard it before. (Oddly easy to do in this daily challenge. I've rediscovered some great bands and gained appreciation for some I'd discounted before.) I like Pink Floyd well enough. It's always been pretty easy to see that they're excellent musicians and writers. But, I never saw them live and I'm not a fanboy or anything, but... Who could deny that this album is a masterpiece? It's a frigging triumph of epic proportions! Young men this young should not be this talented or insightful! Somehow it's a rock album, but it's not really Rock Rock, ya know? It's symphonic, ethereal, deep. Completely unexpected for its time. I can't review the songs. There are a million out there with hundreds here. All I can say is that there isn't a bad minute on here. And it's epically better experience to listen to it all at one instead of as singles. The production is insane. Alan Parsons really took these fellas to another level. I'd call him as much a member of the band as Gilmour or Waters. 10 out of 5

What's not to like

Nothing set up a session of Ann we like listening to Pink Floyd’s Time

a life classic

Shine on, you crazy diamond...

Nothing I need to say about this one

This is seriously one of the best albums ever created. It just feels like a whole story from start to finish with seamless transitions and the last two songs working together to complete the thought. Borderline flawless. Speak to me - 5 (doesnt count) Breathe - 8 On the run - 6 Time - 10 (Transition here) - 11 The great gig in the sky - 7 money - 10 us and them - 10 any colour you like - 8 brain damage - 9 (Transition here) - 11 eclipse - 9 Individually ranking these songs is unfair because they all mesh together and some songs are simply used as the connecting pieces.

What a record. Pink Floyd really understood what doing an Album as a holistic full standing piece of art was. Every song is different but feel part of the same project, they flow seamlessly from one to another. The 40 minutes feel like one single experience. They knew what they wanted to do and to say and they did it perfectly. I often hear people say that this record is overrated and I always try to understand why and I just can't. Because every time I press play on TDSOTM, it's just an amazing experience. So easy 5/5. And the great gig in the sky, my god

One of the greatest albums of all time.

Jag försökte vara så neutral som möjligt när jag började lyssna, framför allt när jag aldrig lyssnat på hela albumet back to back. Ett musikaliskt mästerverk. Fantastisk struktur på albumet. Gåshud.

1. Speak To Me - N/A It's an intro track. 2. Breathe (In The Air) - 7 Good slower track with some decent vocals and lyrics. One thing I am noticing is that the transitions between tracks is absolutely world class and a huge enjoyment. 3. On the Run - 5 It's an okay instrumental. There's nothing phenomenal about the track and it's a complete pass over on the album. 4. Time - 10 Good track. Fun lyrics that builds well into an absolutely legendary guitar solo in the middle of the track. It comes down off the build and guitar solo brilliantly as well. 5. The Great Gig in the Sky - 10 Vocally it's incredible and instrumentally it's a masterpiece. Absolutely a monumental track with a huge build and superb descend. Just a great sound. 6. Money - 9 Very good track. Vocally it's good, lyrically it's superb, and the guitar solos with the drums are absolutely exquisite. Awesome sound on this track. 7. Us and Them - 11 Just an all time classic. I used to listen to this while fragging out in Unreal Tournament 2004 so it has some fond memories already. Lyrically it's excellent and the sound all throughout is just top drawer. Amazing track. 8. Any Colour You Like - 9 Great jam song. Brilliant guitar play with some awesome sounds on it and superb as a bridge itself between Us and Them and Brain Damage. 9. Brain Damage - 10 Lyrically this is fantastic. The choir like background voices add so much to the track while the guitar brilliant plays melancholically to help further express the twisted nature and meaning of the lyrics. 10. Eclipse - 11 An absolutely stunning crescendo to an absolutely stunning album. Absolutely superb track. Short, sweet, and draws from the tracks previously on the album lyrically to deliver the perfect ending. A masterpiece of an outro. Average Rating: 9.11 Adjusted to 5-Point Scale: 4.56 Rounded Up: 5 Stars

This album just like some other Floyd albums has some essence about it that forces reflection of what it means to be a person in a world that prioritizes material things and artificial purpose. What is the purpose of our pursuits and where do they bring us? Additionally, Money is one of my favorite songs ever made. The whole album has such a great vibe to it and it really is beautiful and a soulful masterpiece. I think that it deserves the credit that it gets as one of the greatest albums of all time.

This is my favorite album of all time. It always has been and it probably always will be. It’s album 55 for me so I’m hopeful this list hasn’t peaked for me so soon.

Fantastic

I've always liked Pink Floyd, but have to admit I'd never listened to this album from start to finish. Just, wow.

Easy 5 star

absolute cinema

Money Favourite Song: Time Honourable Mention: Money, Breathe, Brain Damage

holy moly

Masterpiece.

Stellar bluesy rock album. Epic in scope and near perfect

A complete album. Ahead of its time and an instant classic.

Classic, 'nough said

Like, it's Dark Side Of The Fucking Moon. What else can I say?

5, of course. Their best album.

So lush, so smooth that you get to thinking you could play this record through the speakers of a 3310 and it’d still sound sublime. Listening to “The Dark Side of the Moon” is, as first song proper neatly foreshadows, like breathing. To enjoy it requires no conscious effort; you just pop it on and – ever so slightly jarring mid-album “Money” shot excepted – let it carry you along. “On the Run” is a fabulously evocative sound collage; puts me in mind of anything from CAN to My Disco to Protomartyr (“Ultimate Success Today”). “Time” is, like so much of the record, a splendidly languorous piece right up until it isn’t – then it’s alive, rapturous, otherworldly. (The guitar solo reminds me of “Maggot Brain”; I can think of no higher compliment.) The vocal performance that is “The Great Gig In the Sky” is a blisteringly abrupt shock of urgency – exactly where it should be and how it should be. “Money” is a song, “Us and Them” is a masterpiece, and “Any Colour You Like” picks up and packs up the weird. “Brain Damage” and “Eclipse” send you off into the night with a deliciously warm and fuzzy feeling; you’ve all had a lovely time, but you know you’d better be off before you overstay your welcome. An enchanted sonic equilibrium, engineered into coherence by what’s probably actually a form of genius.

Here it is then. The Mack Daddy. I’m not a huge Pink Floyd guy and even I have to admit this is pretty damn good. Perfect? Hmmmmm I dunno. But screw it’s near as dammit to 5 stars in my opinion. Nice work Floyd, they’ve got a big future ahead of them if they stick at it

Pretty easy to rate: 1, because I hate Pink Floyd . . . Oh wait, I'm not Johnny Rotten ca 1977. It's great.

Beautiful beautiful record. Sweet modal mixture in the songwriting making for some really interesting shifts in feel. That spacious non-contrived connecting thread throughout the songs. That liquid guitar style and tone. Love it all

Another Pink Floyd album with really great memories attached to it. How in the world do you objectively rate an album that you can link to such a special place and time in your life and that gives you such feelings of nostalgia? I forgot how much I loved the song Us and Them. It’s beautiful. For me it’s the best song on the album. This is an easy five stars for me. It’s pretty near perfect.

I could gush about this album for hours, but I will refrain from doing so. What I will say is that this album has been a cornerstone of my life for my entire life, and because of that, I cannot objectively review it. From being woken up by the bells of Time when I was asleep on the bus countless times, to jamming out to Money with my friends after school, and screaming my lungs out to Great Gig in the Sky when words couldn't convey properly how I've felt, it's seemed like this album has been with me through it all. It means so much to me. Any Colour You Like -> Brain Damage -> Eclipse is up there with the Abbey Road medley of album endings for me. It's creates a wonderful soundscape that truly feels like The End and wraps up with the final words "There is no dark side of the moon really. It's all dark" for those who had blasted it loud enough to hear it. Incredible. Art. Blown Away. Thanks Mr. Floyd for your contribution to the silly album list.

My first experience with Pink Floyd back in the day and it’s stuck with me ever since. Most of my favorite songs of theirs are on here. I’ve always loved how well the album flows together while still having a distinct feeling with every track. Absolute 10/10 for me

Exceptional albums explore the many avenues of what music can be, in a cohesive package. That's what Dark Side is all about for me. Sonically you've got twinkling pianos, inventive guitar effects, shrieking vocals, and the first time many people heard a modular synthesizer. The messages are wide-ranging and still potent: the afterlife, war, $$$, finding yourself. In 10 songs this record covers a lot of territory and does it well.

I’m gonna be honest, I’m 47 years old and I’ve listened to a heck of a lot of music - but I’ve never listened to dark side of the moon in it’s totality. And I went in skeptical but I’m gonna be honest it deserves five stars. I listened to it during a rainy drive on the way into work early on a Sunday morning, and I can see now how it has earned its legendary status. It is a total achievement in the “concept album” genre - and they knew that I would get to it at some point on this list, and I’m delighted to have had the chance to listen to it before my shift in the emergency apartment.

When I was still getting into music as a kid but was still scared of drugs, I nonetheless found this album, specifically, to be the kind of trippy nonsense I can get behind. I've obviously heard "Time," "Money," and "Brain Damage/Eclipse" a thousand times since then, but it's been a long time since I listened to the whole thing. I expected to find it tiresome. But, NOPE. Holds up. I can absolutely understand someone wanting to roll their eyes at it, but it still grips me. Another all time album cover too.

I've heard the Pink Floyd version so much, I don't need to hear it again, so I listened to the Flaming Lips version. I liked it a lot.

Hell yeah - this album is a classic for a reason. The production, song-writing, and overriding concept make for a truly phenomenal experience. I pity anyone that died before this album came out, for they could not listen to it before they died.

ICÓNICO

There is a reason this album stayed on the charts for literally a half a century. It’s a masterpiece like no other record. From beginning to end it is perfect

Not sure what else there is to say about this album. It's on the shortlist for greatest album of all time. Music doesn't get much better than this.

the best

A real treat. Great album. Every song is worth your time and the album is an excellent straight through listen. Favorite tracks include Breathe, Time, The Great Gig In The Sky, Money, Us And Them, Brain Damage, Eclipse.

Still a classic, strange their best was so long ago.

I think it lives up to its reputation as a great album

Really solid album. Cool sounds and vocals. I owned this on vinyl at some point. Strong 4.5, with a tip to the 5 side.

The greatest album ever.

Woo Hoo

If any album has a claim to perfection, it's this one. The production values, atmosphere, musicality, lyricism, and cover art are all off the charts. The production is particularly impressive, even by today's standards, and became the bar that every other album is compared to. 5.0/5.0: Iconic

ive never been a huge fan of pink floyd but you cant deny how good this is.

Beyond classic. Seminal. Sounds as amazing today as it did 50 years ago.

Экспериментально, много новых звуков

I can see why this is considered a masterpiece.

Sublime from start to finish

Wow. The Dark Side of the Moon is an experience. Listening to this album was like reading an exquisite novel. It took me on a ride from the first heartbeat to the very last. I experienced so many emotions while listening to it. I didn’t want it to end. For once, I can say I wish an album wasn’t so short. I wanted this to go on until I was lulled into a dreamlike slumber. The album is completely cohesive and the dead-air omission between songs makes it meld beautifully. It is agonizing yet soothing and absolutely mesmerizing.

It's Dark Side of the Moon.

Not much to say about this one that hasn't already been said. The musicianship is great, and the concept, the continuous work of music, and the production take the experience over the top.

Possibly the easiest 5-star album on this list. No need to belabor the point. It's a landmark. A masterpiece. An icon. I'll tack on a whole extra star for the "Wizard of Oz" thing. Coincidence or not, it's uncanny how well it works.

Always a pleasure and nice to listen after several decades of not.

The old man and I agreed on very few things. This album was one of those few things.

Absolute classic. A all time favourite.

It just so happens that my favorite album is the best album of all time.

Simply Amazing

Speak to Me - no rating Breathe (In The Air) - 5/5 On the Run - 3/5 Time - 5/5 The Great Gig in the Sky - 5/5 Money - 5/5 Us and Them - 5/5 Any Colour You Like - 4/5 Brain Damage - 5/5 Eclipse - 5/5 Average score: 4.7/5 i'm a sucker for albums where all the tracks seamlessly melt into one another

Nic dodać nic ująć, za każdym razem solo z Time uderza tak samo, niesamowity wokal w The Great Gig In The Sky, a całość zakończona Brain Damage/Eclipse

The best!

One of the most iconic rock albums ever released.

1001 Albums Challenge (21/1001) 1. Speak To Me (5/5) 2. Breathe (In The Air) (5/5) 3. On The Run (5/5) 4. Time (5/5) 5. The Great Gig In The Sky (5/5) 6. Money (5/5) 7. Us And Them (5/5) 8. Any Colour You Like (5/5) 9. Brain Damage (5/5) 10. Eclipse (5/5) Total (5/5)

This album deserves all the hype it gets. 5/5 9.39/10

I'll confess something here: I haven't listened to this album in full in almost 20 years, when a couple of stoned friends put it on during our A-Level art exam. I can't say I paid much attention at the time, and obviously I've heard the odd track here and there over the years. I was determined not to just whack 5 stars on this because it's iconic. But here I am, whacking 5 stars on this. It is genuinely a masterpiece. The whole album is so cohesive, right down to the end of the final track leading into the start of the opener. It's fantastic all round, with extra credit to Breathe (In the Air), Time, The Great Gig in the Sky, Us and Them, and Brain Damage. It's an album for listening to with few distractions. It's an album I can see myself putting on full blast for a solo motorway journey in the future. That being said, the obligatory endless keyboard solos almost knock it down to a 4.5.

I've heard this album so many times and most of them i was HHIIGGH!!!

Definitely an album you have to listen to in order, I love how the songs blend together. Overall an amazing album.

Have heard 100’s of times. Solid album. No skip record. Masterpiece.

Just having Time and Money on the same album makes it 5 stars and Brain Damage gives it the plus. 5 stars or A+.

Simply the best album of all.

Masterpiece. The Wall and The Dark Side Of The Moon are my favourites!

Finally ... a 10 star Album.

9/10 favourite - "Us And Them" least favourite - none

Incredible album. Flows from one song to another. Listened to it multiple times over the last few days.

Classic

Yeah, yeah

nothing needs said. 5/5

One of the best of all time, very understandable as to why it is on so many t-shirts

I know it's pedestrian to just give this album a 5, but I started it and just kind of went into a trance. It really is that good. 5/5

Wonderful album

A classic

Absolutely fire

Probably my third favourite Pink Floyd album behind the Wall and Wish you were here, but still a great album. the combination of Time and gig in the sky is great. Money is a good song but has been tarnished by fucking Donald Trump. Regardless that section from Money to Eclipse is just perfect. There is more than enough notable songs to make this a 5 star album

Even classicer and forever a favourite

Nothing else to say.

1973 Simply outstanding and befitting of its status. One of the few albums that made the cross-over from my dad to me. I want to say it's overplayed, but I've enjoyed listening to this again today, like it was my first time. My CD is properly worn out. Heard before ✅️ Listened this time ✅️ Revisit ✅️ Godlike status ★★★★★ (9/10)

A great album that I've owned for 40-odd years and don't listen to often enough. It was nice to get the prompt to give it another spin. 5/5.

С удовольствием послушал в который раз.

Very glad to see this pop up, especially after enjoy ‘Wish You Were Here’ so much and this being a classic I have never listened to fully. The classic tones of ‘Breathe’ to start us off. A great flow between tracks and just creates an endless journey through a great variety of aesthetics, tempos and tones. Somehow expected to be something like a 2 hours drawn out journey, but feels like it will be no filler and just relevant for what it wants to communicate and represent. Great atmos and landscape that feels so broad and explorative. Maybe very slight lull in ‘Great Gig..’ but back with avengence with ‘Money’ but then a bit of a dip after this too. Yeh, it’s a great all round package that takes you all over, whilst maintaining real quality and depth. Feels wrong to listen to it in single tracks and is a whole trip. A huge achievement of an album 👏🏻

I mean common, it's Dark Side of the Moon, this is one of the few albums that I consider basically perfect. Time probably has my all time favorite guitar solo, Great Gig in the Sky is phenomenal, and I love how funky Any Colour You Like is. High 5!!!!

9/10 Favs: Money, Breathe (In the Air), Us and Them, Brain Damage

Absolutely one of the single greatest recordings of the 20th century. One of the easiest five stars I've given in this project so far.

More of a soundscape. Experimental. Spacey. Synths and percussion. Psych rock. Very epic. Very floaty and meditative, I can see why it's considered one of the greats.

Ok, I get it now. I had never listened to this all the way through, but it is excellent. It grabs your entire attention and holds onto it. It's just such a lush and expansive sound. I think I'm going to listen to this one a lot.

5 stars. One of the greatest ever. My only complaint is that the alarms at the start of Time are anxiety inducing. Apart from that, damn near perfect.

#120/1001. My most fond memories of this album is as we tested out the hoo-haw theory that this album works as the audio track for the film Wizard of Oz. We had an improvised movie festival at a friends cottege. Some people had never seen the film, so they were more concerned what happens in the story (we replaced the original sound completely). There are some key moments, perhaps by accident, and I guess peoples’ minds are constructed in a way that we try to see patterns where no-one really planned them. If you want to try it out, check out where the image changes from black and white to color, or when the witch has a "Great Gig in the Sky". More recognised patterns can be found online. After the night of watching films we spent a few days at the cottage. Dark Side of the Moon was playing in a constant loop inside, ruining my Last.fm stats and oversaturating my meed to ever listen to it again. But that was 20+ years ago and the album sounds as classic as ever.

Classic

This lives up to the hype. Truly their magnum opus. 5/5

Excellent. No notes. It remains engaging throughout and I like how the songs blend into each other rather than cutting off between tracks

Oh the days in the dorm listening on headphones to the opening of Time for all the alarms going off! Before Roger Waters became insufferable!

If I was forced to objectively choose the greatest album of all time. I would without hesitation say Dark Side Of The Moon.

Fuck yeah, truly iconic. Ended way too soon!

Might be greatest album of all time. Easiest rating on the list

I mean what can I say about this just staggering album that hasn't been said a million times before. I really does live up to the hype and I honestly believe this a timeless piece of art that will transcend generations to come

Awesome

One of the greatest albums of all time.

Surprise surprise, a classic album is classic. The songs transition really well and I like the guitar solos and that one song with the sax. It's the type of album that's good to sit back and listen to really. I do wish "Gig in the sky" had lyrics lol, I think the woman singing is very good but I feel like without lyrics song doesn't really lead anywhere. That is a really minor gripe lol and I will continue rocking out to that song. Yeah, not much to say except it's a pretty great rock album and pretty much all the tunes are stellar. I think in the past I wasn't as fond of it because it's reputation preceded it and I was expecting some experience of grandeur I guess so I was disappointed when my life wasn't flipped upside down or something lol. But now I have learned how to appreciate music just for its own sake I guess and not have those sorts of expectations now. Which i think makes the music listening experience much more enjoyable. 5 stars! 12/9/25

Id give this album 7 stars if I could.

One of my all time favorites

Always a great listen. Refreshing to hear a concept album that stayed anchored with solid hits throughout. Transitioning from a mostly instrumental and big gig to a radio hit like money shouldn’t be a seamless as it is. I remember as a teenager having my ears opened to this and still love it.

Classic

A perfect 5.0, great song writing…. Great playing… the production and sound quality is top notch! This album brings back memories! Guitar sound and playing is awesome!

Own it. Love it. 5/5

10/10, historia, titan, mastodonte musical, imbatible, perfecto y aureo

Brought me closer to a higher power.

Why are there options for less than 5 stars for this album?

IF THIS ALBUM DOESN’T RATE 5 STARS WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING HERE!!!! IT’S MF PINK FLOYD. So far I have enjoyed “Breathe” and “On The Run” “Us and Them”

It’s The Dark Side Of The Moon. I don’t think there’s anything I could say about it that hasn’t been said over and over about it. It’s awesome.

I so appreciate all the time and thought Pink Floyd put into their music. They are all talented enough to easily write pop music for everyone but they took the hard route and we're all better for it.

all time classic

After over 1000 albums and only missing one day, sometimes they can roll into one a bit and I feel there's a run of "fine but so what" albums. Then along comes a titan and I realise the real difference between the good and the great. This is such a great album that every song feels like it's been crafted carefully, not just plonked down on a DAW. Because it wasn't. They needed to use tape loops and all hands on the mixing deck. This is how glorious music can be when it is an all consuming craft.

Classic

You can't really give this album anything below a 5. 5/5

Good man.

Was a little nervous to revisit this after being underwhelmed by Wish You Were Here - but my god this holds up so well. In my opinion the most cohesive Pink Floyd album, but still managing to pull in so many different directions. Lands pretty much all of its ideas and also a really fun listen as well. A classic for a reason

Really interesting soundtrack, blended really well. Odd ambiance used too. Experiential album. 5 for the novelty.

This one of my favorite albums by one of my favorite bands. Great album from start to finish and the songs flow well from one to the other. "The Dark Side of the Moon explores themes such as conflict, greed, time, death, and mental illness." OK Pink Floyd doesn't really make happy music. Apparently you can watch The Wizard of Oz while listening to this but if you are tripping balls you can do that with any album and movie. Money and Us and Them feature a guest saxophone which is kind of unusual for Floyd. Very original and great song writing.

It's hard to do any justice to this album with words. It is flawless from beginning to end and feels less like a traditional album and more like a living, breathing piece of art that brilliantly encapsulates the beauty and tragedy of the passing of time, and of all that is life, better than anything I've ever heard. It's so moving and creative and timeless. The first minute and a half of Eclipse is such a beautiful and emotional set of lyrics that it makes me cry just typing about them. I feel so grateful to live in a time where music like this exists.

Some days you just get an album that puts a smile upon your face. I can't say I have listened to a lot Pink Floyd, however, I have listened to this before and this was a good chance to top up my listening time. I managed to squeeze in 2 listens in the same day for this (one original, one remastered). I'm not sure if I have listened enough to form a proper opinion yet but even though this is clearly a work of high quality work, I feel like I prefer Wish You Were Here and Animals from my listens to date. Regardless, I will look forward to exploring Pink Floyd further in the future.

Operatic and otherworldly, this is as cohesive as an album gets

A clear classic, already listened a hundred times. Big themes and grand celestial theme/framing but somehow sticks the landing in like 42 minutes.
