The Number Of The Beast
Iron MaidenAnother banger, I’ve listened before, really appreciate the length and quality. I think around 40 min is best for an LP. 5 out of 5
Another banger, I’ve listened before, really appreciate the length and quality. I think around 40 min is best for an LP. 5 out of 5
Really, really solid album, love the vast majority of the songs. Forgot how good the white stripes on, but it’s barely short of 5 stars for me. I’m not sure what it’s missing, but it’s right below, the guitar and drums are great.
It’s not something I could listen to regularly, but it is good for what it is. It sounds like a lot of Cuban music I’ve heard, but maybe it’s the originator? It sounds like it was a huge influence on a lot of that music at the time coming to prominence. I respect it for what it is.
Super interesting, nice to see older Irish folk punk. I’d listen a few times, 4 stars
Really good beats, definitely enjoyed, listening to it, appreciate the messages of the song. And the throwback to Chappelle show, definitely want to save it on Spotify and listen again.
The hits are great, you and I is a pretty solid ballad, some of the other songs get a little bit too repetitive for me. I’ll come back to the major songs often on, probably not the album is a hole. Maybe it’s because it’s an older album, Does not quite grab me as much as the others. But still worth a listen.
Amazing album, good extermination and mix of rock, blues, jazz and other influences. Added to the mix.
It was alright, maybe I wasn’t a product of the time. His voice is a bit too monotonous for me, not very inspired riffs, I like a bit more colour to the tracks. 2/5 a few tracks were decent,
Really solid album, I could definitely appreciate this one for the time and place. What I understand it’s very influential, first if it’s kind of the time, the beats in the grooves are really catchy. Strong political message, pretty easy to digest, a few small dips. I would say a 4.75 out of five, but I’ll round up.
Really solid album, didn’t realize it woudl be so rock based. I knew you aughta know and a few other hits but thoroughly enjoyed the whole album overall, I’d give it a listen a few more times.
Solid album, a lot more diverse than I assumed based off only hearing hallelujah. Loved it. Too bad the guy only had the one album.
Solid band, definitely like a lot of the beats. Ran a bit too long for my taste, but I can see the appeal, I’m thinking 4 to 5. I like stuff with a little bit more melody to it if that’s the right word? But this one’s pretty solid. Listening to it one more time in the car made it grow on me a bit, I’ll leave it at four stars because it’s a bit too long for me.
This one is pretty solid. I like it for what it is, I understand the experimental part of it, maybe it’s because I’m not around when it came out? I think it would’ve had more of an impact back in 1981 if I heard it then. Good beats, I appreciate the incorporation of world music, I think this is a one and done for me, though. Two out of five.
I’ve listened to this before, I already knew that it would be a banger. Always love listening to it again, it’s just so catchy. A little bit long, it’s still worth it
I can see it being a predecessor to a lot of grunge, and it seems to be one of the first dynamics albums. It didn’t grip me, the pixies never really have. But I like a few songs!
This album is awesome, I like it a lot better than the other earlier Stevie Wonder album. I listen to. Feels a little bit more cohesive, more of a groove, less monotonous and repetitive. I’m thinking five out of five.
I need to go back and finish it, didn’t quite get the full-time, but I like the vibe for what it is. A lot of good songs, I’ll give it a relist at some point, not sure if I’ll go back to it all the time though. I think a solid three out of five.
Fantastic album, absolutely love jazz if I don’t listen to it all the time. Duke Ellington is really really good, his group is so tight. It’s a bit long at two hours and 11 minutes, with a lot of those filler talking in between, but I think it was important for me to listen to this.
The album was good for what it was, it didn’t really stand out to me? I like the beach boys vibe, it might make more sense in the context of the music at the time. A lot of the songs are very similar, felt like classic beach/surf music, Pop during the 60s. Three out of five, I don’t think I’ll necessarily go back to it.
Honestly, not a fan, not sure why this one was on the list. Given Its the list of 1000 albums you should listen to before you die, I’m gonna give it a one out of five. Not for me.
I thought it was interesting, very Beatles and Beach boy reminiscent. A lot of Baroque pop, strange that it came out in 1999. Not sure if it was anything that stood out for me, but I thought it was pretty decent. Two out of five seems fair for this list
Super solid album, really loved most of it. Glad I finally listened to this song, from the last few I listened to werent my favorites. The hits were pretty amazing on this one, and it’s got a really good flow, might have to give it one more listen often on. Solid 4 to 5 on this one.
Super weird album, I like it’s for what it was though. Glad I listened to it once, it’s interesting to hear the voodoo psychedelic style, I think three out of five is good.
Love this kind of music, so upbeat and happy sounding. When I get these I love them, I need to find the modern equivalent.
Really weird album, I can see where this influenced the singers like Sia, some of them with crazy vocal ranges and artistic styles. Solid four out of five, if I heard it come on I wouldn’t be upset.
It’s a good soundtrack for what it is, honestly not my style. I appreciate the work and everything that went into it, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to it again? Not sure what makes it different than any other soundtrack. Two out of five.
Amazing album, I’ve listened to it multiple times, five out of five.
I enjoyed this one quite a bit, I could put the album on and listen to it in full. Sounds like a nice intermediate between the Beatles and the police, I’m surprised I never heard of them before. Four at five.
Another banger, I’ve listened before, really appreciate the length and quality. I think around 40 min is best for an LP. 5 out of 5
Amazing album, this is why he’s the r king of pop. 5 out of 5
Listen to about half of it, not my thing. But it’s all right, 1/5
Love some good Sinatra, his music is almost always amazing to me. I don’t know if this is the definitive album that I would use as an example, but it is very good. I’ll say four out of five for this one.
Really good album, I’m surprised I never heard much more of their stuff before. It’s got me interested in looking more into Sonic Youth, I’ll give it a five out of five.
It was good for what it was, maybe it’s because I listened to the remix version, but it was a bit long for me to keep up with? But I enjoyed it, and appreciate the artistry of it. Solid 4 to 5.
Honestly, could barely get through the whole album, I like a few of the songs that had the Rolling Stones feel to it, little mix of psychedelic and rock to it, but a lot of the songs were just not great for me, I’ll give it a two out of five, Not bad enough to be a one, but not good enough for a full too. I don’t think I could recommend it to people.
The guitar work is pretty fantastic, same with the rest of the instrumentation. I can appreciate the vocal work for what he did, the bedroom pop style or whatever they call this type of music? Another album that wasn’t necessarily my vibe, but I thought it was pretty cool for what it was, a lot of interesting themes in style mixed into it. I can see where this would influence a lot of Indie musicians going forward, it’s a shame. The guy died so young as well. I think it’s worth three out of five stars.
This one was pretty good, I can appreciate it for being influential at the time I would assume. It sounds like a lot of what I’ve heard, but maybe that’s because people created their own version of it? Nothing really stands out to me explicitly about any of these tracks, but as a whole, it was an entertaining lesson. I’d give it a three out of five, appreciating it for what it is.
Def a top album for me, the huge songs are huge. Had this one on vinyl and had to hook it up and listen all the way through, I’d argue one of the best of the 80s. Embodies the synths and style of the 80s without the schlock and irony. Easy 5 star. Love the guitars, drums, good bass lines, and the singers voice is pretty remarkable. Going to Listen again soon for sure
I think I’ve given out too many 5 stars in the past, but this one is definitely up deserving. Never listened to the whole thing through front to back, but it felt like a greatest hits album. The songs I didn’t know still hit hard, even at over an hour the journey didn’t feel like a slog. The only problem now is trying to find a copy on vinyl. Great riffs, Chris’s voice is amazing, the Robert plant of grunge for sure. Would recommend to anyone.
I didn’t finish the whole two hours but it was enjoyable! I liked the beats, I could see looking more into the discography if I want to get more into drum and bass. The vocals were solid too, I swear I’ve heard this stuff before. It’s not on my regular listening, but if it was it could be five stars.
Very solid album, I would definitely recommend this. It does have a Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett feel, mixed with a little bit of country, a little bit of jazz, very chill dinner music if that makes sense. I thought it was fantastic, I hope to find a more modern version of this type of music as well, if there’s anyone putting out the stuff today. Five stars.
Honestly the album has been pretty unlistenable, the beats and voice are so cliche 80s for me it’s not my vibe. I like “dont you want me” but outside of that I really don’t want to listen again. I’ll do a 1 out of 5, with the exception of the one song.
This album is genuinely a classic, I’m so glad that I listened to it. It’s all the way through. It’s one of those that I can appreciate the influence hat on modern music, while being so smooth, the court progressions are great. Marvin‘s voice is amazing, And the messaging behind each one of the songs is premier. One of the best of all time. Five out of five.
The hits were great, classic songs. I didn’t realize it came out when they did. Overall, as a cohesive album, it was pretty solid, not sure why the whole album is on the list, though, for a debut though it’s fantastic.
Very weird album, I think I liked it as a whole. No major tracks stood out to me, but I like the vibe, I think it’s an overall album. It was very solid. It made sense when I looked up later that Primus played a few tracks. I’ll give it a four out of five, but it’s weird because I can’t recommend it to anyone in particular.
Really strong album, the beats and hits are the first thing that stand out. Some of the guitars and bass on applicable songs are actually stand outs, it’s really solid. I’d give it a 5 since it stands out in such a way, really shows that Eminem is one of the best rappers out there
Nother classic. Weirder than Nevermind, but I appreciate them trying to get back to weirder roots, a bit more raw on both ends. Solid acoustic tracks then heavy in between. The length of the album is perfect too, amazing
It’s definitely a lot to listen to, and I think it is good for what it is. There are a couple pretty good songs on there, the vibe is pretty good overall, a lot of interesting variety when it comes to the styles of music. Her voice is very whimsical, and I didn’t realize how well Christina could sing, Definitely a solid album overall. I’ll give it a three out of five because it’s not my vibe, but I think it is very well made overall and I can see the influence on a lot of younger female artists, especially.
It was all right, sounded like a lot of the stuff that came in that place in time. I’m not a huge fan of Gothic rock genre personally, but it sounds like a mix of joy division and new wave like human league. Two out of five.
I was definitely surprised of this one, not as exciting as I hoped, honestly a bit of a letdown. The title track was good, some of the vocal and other tracks like Joe the line of beauty and the beast were pretty decent. The last track was pretty good too, but a lot of it sounds like ambient filler, not what I was hoping for expecting. I’d say two out of five.
Really solid live album, love the mix of jazz and blues influences on their music. Solid drum solos, keyboards, didn’t know the singer could hit the falsetto like that so much. It’s not gonna be in the normal rotation but I’d give it another listen if it came on l
It’s not my type of country music, maybe it’s a bit too old for me or something? The San Francisco song was pretty solid, outside of it. I don’t see myself looking back into it in the future. Find guitar work, pretty good lyrics, classic old western feel.
A really cool album I’m surprised I haven’t heard before based off listening to so much grunge and alt rock from the 90s. Really solid album that’s catchy, great drums and vocals.
A really solid disco album I e never heard, and felt the biggest radio hit wasn’t the best song on the album. I actively went through and “liked” every song on here but one or two, and those were still solid tracks. The guitar works and vocals were great, good beats, another amazing Niles Rodger’s project
Amazing album, I honestly feel dumb for not listening to it all the way through before. Of course I’ve heard nights of Cydonia from guitar hero, even assassin was on one of them before, but never did a deep dice to hear the rest of the album. I’m actually excited to start listening to the rest of their stuff, even if the albums fell off in quality after this one. But this one was a real treat, five stars.
Really, really solid album, love the vast majority of the songs. Forgot how good the white stripes on, but it’s barely short of 5 stars for me. I’m not sure what it’s missing, but it’s right below, the guitar and drums are great.
The album opens with bangers, it’s an amazing start. 3 huge hits, love the way it goes. The rest of the album is still solid, I’d put it in for background music, but it’s not 100% for me. 3 stars on a personal level, but I could see where true fans would love it more
Loved it, I’m finding more interest in electronic music as this challenge goes on. Love the low key vocals, drum beats and all, lot of the songs are really catchy. I want to add this to my regular listening.
It is enjoyable thought it is, a vibe for music if that’s what you’re looking for. Definitely not something I put on all the time, but if I heard it in your background somewhere, I wouldn’t be upset. I’m sure it’s very influential to music that came out though
Another five star album, absolutely beautiful. A lot of experimentation coming out from a band like this, it was really nice to get to go back and listen to it again. I didn’t care for it for the longest time, but really is beautiful, the transitions, the guitar work on some of the heavier songs, the theme in the Indian influence. I even appreciate the transition from some existential songs to yellow submarine, back to existentialism. Now again, it’s up there with one of my all-time favorites, it wasn’t super high with me before.
This is what I was looking for in this style, modern Sinatra style music mixes with soul and R&B. Back to Black is too polished for my taste, but this album really has the vibes of what I hoped Amy could do. The instruments, her voice, everything, it’s so easy to listen front to back.
Really solid country album, this is the stuff I’m looking for. What really has a good country feel, raw emotion that isn’t just pop songs liek what is on the radio now. The guitars, duets, and feel seems more genuine on this than a lot of other music I’ve heard.
Honestly hated it, I tried flipping through some of the songs to try and see if there’s something redeemable about any of the track, I didn’t find anything. I found the voice to be annoying, didn’t care for the story too much, overall unlistenable for me.
Classic iconic punk album, first time listening all the way through and I get why it’s so famous. The right mix of melody, attitude, and catchy choruses.
Really enjoying it so far, moreso than Joshua tree! It feels more flushed out, the drums are a bit better, it feels the band came more into themselves at this point. I like. A lot of what I’ve heard, if it came on I wouldn’t be mad.
Honestly, wasn’t a huge fan of this album, there was one or two tracks I could stand, but I found myself skipping getting a few minutes into some of the tracks. The very last song I enjoyed and looked back at my phone to see what it was, only to see it was half of a different album. I think it’s maybe a little bit too much of a first album, trying to find their sound, and they sound like a band who really came into their own a few years later. Unfortunately, giving this one a one, I don’t think I wanna hear it again.
I think it’s still a really good album, I definitely enjoy the music, but it’s not something I go to all the time. If I hear it coming on or it’s in the background, I definitely appreciate it, Aretha‘s voice is timeless. Respect is an amazing song, I like the rest of the album, I could see her influence in so many current artists today.
Honestly, not sure why this album was on this list. I thought it was fine, and enjoyable enough listen in the background, but definitely not anything. I’m coming back to anytime soon. I’m guessing maybe it was revolutionary back when it came out, influenced people? But there’s nothing that stood out for this album that made me want to go back and give it another shot, I’d say one out of five.
Solid four star album, right on the cusp of five. I really love a lot of the songs, but it’s not quite as cohesive as some of the other doors albums I think. Love the vibe, Jim Morrison’s voice, all the instrumentation is fantastic. If I didn’t have 900 more albums to go through, I’m sure this will be right at the top.
Really weird album but fun! I like a few of the songs on here a bit, others don’t quite hit but it’s something nice for the background. 3 out of 5 sounds fair, it’s got a talking heads feel I think I like.
Amazing album, all the way through. Dipped down with the very last song a little bit but not enough to stop this from being a solid 5 stars
It was fine. Didn’t know James Brown did more Motown before his big hits, this was showed me more of his Influence, esp seeing how early on he was Doing music. Won’t listen again but didn’t regret it.
I listen to the majority of it, but a full live double album is definitely a lot. It’s fun 70s rock, I definitely appreciate it before, surprised. I’ve never heard of this band before now. It’s a good time if you’re in the mood for some cheesy 70s rock, I think a three out of five is better.
Definitely enjoy the album, Jimi Hendrix is always a classic. Really amazing tracks, really solid guitar solos, but not quite as solid of an effort as the first two albums. I think it’s a little bit too long, maybe it should’ve been separated into extra tracks? It does feel like there’s a lot of “besides”, but that’s not a bad thing for someone like Hendrix. Four out of five stars is what I would go with, since I’ve given out too many five stars recently.
I want to give them another listen in the future to hear the words more, but the music is pretty decent itself. Still trying to get into them
It’s a pretty solid album! I could see if the vast majority of the songs came on, I would appreciate hearing them on this one. It’s not 100% my style, but I love learning about more artists like this that I would never really listen to before. I think four out of five is good, a few tracks really stood out to me, but the music is a really good beat.
This album was very nice, I enjoyed it for the most part. It was cool to finally listen to it and hear a refreshing take on the beach boys, that was different than their early 60s and 50s surf sound they had going for so long. The hits are amazing, the rest of the album is good but a little bit too experimental for me personally. I think three out of five is good, not something I would go out out of my way for again, but I liked it for what it was.
A really solid heavy album, loved the whole thing. Never knew it had so many old hits on it from the band, it’s nice to hear some of the originators of metal from the day that had so much influence on younger bands coming up, I can hear a lot of bands in this album.
I think I’m starting to get Radiohead now? Maybe I’m just a fan of This style of Radiohead, more of the mid 90s britpop leanings. It feels like the right blend of melody, dynamics, acoustics and heavy distortion, I was enjoying the vast majority of songs as they appeared. I’m excited to give it more listens, I think it’ll move up to five stars soon.
A fine album, ok for the time. Not sure why it’s in the list, doesn’t sound like anything particularly special. Not awful
Well they can’t all be winners. A double album of this nature is a lot of music, I think I just don’t Vibe with gothic rock if that’s what this is. A lot of the music in this style is not for me. 1 of 5.
I’m conflicted for this one, I really want to give 5 stars as it is brilliant, almost every song is awesome. It feels like a natural follow up to the Rock and roll of the Chuck berry generation, amazing ballads, great vocals and lyrics, but there’s just a few songs that don’t do it for me. They feel like filler. I think I’m inclined to give it 5 as it’s almost there, but this album is great.
Wow this was rough. Not sure the hype around it, I don’t think I vibe with any post punk. It’s too weird and not melodic enough, can’t enjoy the lyrics or vocals, don’t ever plan on listening again
This one was fine, nothing special for me. Interesting vibe and sound, different and sounds like it was pretty influential to a lot of alternative and punk bands after. Not my cup of tea but get why it’s here, I’d say 2 stars
The album is pretty good, didn’t realize Elton went prog for any of his albums. This one had those elements and i can vibe with the whole thing, but the only Standout tracks personally were Tiny Dance, Levon, and goodbye. Enjoyable but not his best, but I’d listen if it was on. 3 stars seems fair
Absolutely love this one, really love the bossa nova feel with the guitars and everything. Frank Sinatra is an all-time classic, his voice is just sounding. I would recommend anyone, it’s so close to being five star with the quality, but I could sit and listen to any of these all day.
Really solid album, always loved this genre of music. Anyways excited to hear more of this kind of music, heard a few hits that were fun. Love if this came on at some point on.
It was a pretty good album overall, loved the hits. But the rest isn’t something I woudl listen to again, the vibe was a bit to weird for me. But it sounds like Bush is a pretty artsy creator, just maybe not totally for me. 2.5 feels right
Really not my vibe, I do like a lot of the guitar work, but I can’t see myself listening to this anytime again. Just a little bit too much for me to deal with, one star.
