Exhausted and bored after the first few tracks

Never was a big fan of the who. Despite their many accolades. On hearing this again, I am still unmoved by the music. Keithg Moons drumming alwasy sound off time to me, although his antics delighted. Not on my 1001 list

Appreciated the the album for what it was at its time. There were a few cool sections musicality wise. Had a lot of triumphant epic moments which I tend to find a bit cheesy but can appreciate their appeal. Favourite song Baba O’Riley.

Haven't seen this album cover in a long time and for the first time I'm wondering are they pissing on Stanley Kubrick? I can't really listen to this, for much the same reason I can't drink rum anymore. In fact I think it's very possible I picked up both allergies around the same time, now that I think about it. Can I recuse myself? Is there a mercy rule I can invoke? Like an infield fly rule, but for tunes? Giving it a two, as the average of 5 and 0, rounded down.

it's fine, i guess. the hits are the hits, the rest of it is so dreadfully boring compared to every musical genre that came after it

Not for me!

Unfortunately tracks 1,9 and 10 cannot carry the dross of the what comes inbetween . Stick to their greatest hits!

Baba O’Riley is a good song, but otherwise this is just tired classic rock to my ears. Probably cool in the 70’s though

2.5 hours of The Who, with repeated tracks (original, remix, live...). You really need to be a fan to get through it. I'm not, so didn't make it through the entire double album.

The opening and closing tracks are very good. I'm not really sure what happened in the middle. Am I supposed to be in awe of thisan album? It was fine.

As classic rock goes, this is a pretty good album. However, I'm pretty tired of all the music on it, and I can't say I can think of any later generation of musician who cites Pete Townshend, The Who, or this album in particular as an inspiration. It's...okay. Instead of dying before they got old, maybe The Who just slid into insignificance.

Mehhhhhhhhh

it's boring to me

Meh YNN

Mi sie srednio podoba raczej bym tu nie wrócił / Wojtek Typowy rock raczej też bym nie wróciła / Daria

Didn't like the Who back in the day. I don't know why, but I recall it was kind of boy music to me. Listening to it now, I think it was the drums that I didn't like, although there's nothing wrong with them except they're too high in the mix for my taste. Familiar songs that I never need to hear again. They're OK, just don't do anything for me.

Cheesy Dad rock

I've never really got on with The Who, as hard as I've tried...and boy, I've tried. Fantastic, no, superb opening and closing tracks, but in between I found myself making a cuppa, completing a form for life cover and ordering "Clasica" Foldable Tin Plate Bread Toaster for an upcoming camping trip. Browsing other reviews, I'm obviously a neanderthal, but isn't that the point. Music and life are about opinions and it'd be very boring if we all liked the same things. Great album cover though. Who's next?

The problem with starting an album with "Baba O'Reilly" is that every other song on the album is going to pale in comparison. Much like my experience with early Aerosmith a couple weeks back, I'm surprised by just how little rocking is going on here. At the same time this was happening, Black Sabbath were putting out "Master of Reality" and the Stooges had released "Funhouse" a year prior, so like... by comparison this just seems like nerd shit

Every song more or less was the same. I can see how at the time it worked but it's not for me.

Too tame for me.

Baba is still audible, the rest has fallen out of time Good bye, whoever!

I do not like The Who.

Weekend listens are hard for me, since my kids are running around and loud. I threw this on in the background and I knew I would love the drums. I did, but I also loved the bass. Ultimately, this album isn’t my cup of tea. Also, I’m not sure how much more classic rock in can take from the app. I’m only eight albums in and have had The Rolling Stones, the who, lynyrd skynyrd, and Santana. Please tell me this ride isn’t going to be like this.

A few really good songs that were great fun, however this is so damn long guys what the heck. Also a few to many sexist lyrics for me.

boomer rock

the who more like who listens to this?

Really only into Baba O'Reily... Couldn't get into much else on the album.

Simultaneously boring and overwrought.

Fairly meh, if you ask me. I was expecting a whole lot more. I didn't feel like I wanted to listen to it again ... ever. Which is a pretty bad sign. It wasn't awful, like some of the other albums I've listened to - so 2 stars feels about right.

It took 4 years and an entire website to get me to listen to the Baba O'Riley album, but I'm somewhat appreciative for finally getting around to it. The main draw is lightning in a bottle, but what lightning they were able to catch!

2/5 boring and generic

-this would be my shit if i was 60 years old -it's a good quality album, it's just not my jam

csi good. rest ok

Not really by vibe but I can understand that theres some clever music going on

It's ok but I probably would not listen again

Meh dad rock

Niet mijn muziek, erg saai en zeurderig. Heb niet het hele album geluisterd.

Meeh...not that good. Like the opening track.

Couple of bangers to top and tail, with some total dross filler

i mean its good i guess but not my cup of tea ?

very mid, only two or three standout songs.

I already new Baba O'Riley and, after listening to the whole album, it's still probably the only song I'm coming back to. Bargain is good too, but not as great, and some songs have really nice moments, but even after a good amount of listens, I can't even say wich song is wich. From a technical point, it's clear all the band members are very talented and it's clear where the success came from, but personally the songs weren't memorable, the lyrics and the pace didn't do it for me, and overall just did not enjoy the album.

Boring Babo o recycled at the end Nothing surprising

album starts with Baba O'Reilly so ya know it's starting at a high high point. we'll see where the rest of the Who takes us most of the album was super mid. average lame dad rock stuff and then the baba oriley noises again in the last song for a gyatdang 8 minute build up to the csi miami sound. overall like a 3 outta 10 on a scale with 1001 other albums, maybe even a 2. this album sucks they made a freaking impossibly good song (baba o'riley) and the rest of the album sounds like they were trying to replicate that. then by the last song they said whateva do the baba o'riley noises YOWWWWWWW 😎😎😎

Baba and Blue Eyes and Won’t Get Fooled all great. Just because I’ve heard them more? Are they radio played because they’re better, or do we think they’re better bc they’re radio played and familiar? The Who are an undeniably great band. Daltry Moon Entwistle Townshend. They rock. But seventies cock rock kind of sucks. Lyrics are bland and dumb. The Who seem committed to this juvenile shit like oh we all peed on the wall, we’re bathing in baked beans. Guess it made the greatest generation angry which must have felt good but it ages poorly.

Did not know Limp Bizkit was behind the CSI theme as well!

I don’t think I’m arsed about The Who. I’m not sure how much of that is driven by one of them being a nonce (where’s the book?!) and one being a Brexiter. Either way they’re obviously very good but do little for me. Never realised Baba O’Riley was The Who. I like the intro but the rest of the song is shit. It borders on the novelty. I’m guessing The Who fans hate it too? Just doesnt sound like them. There’s a few good songs on this, but then there’s a tonne of filler / shite. Ditch half the album and itll be much better. Some sound theatrical, particularly The Song is Over / Love aint for keeping. Is this intentional? Who knows. I dont, and I dont care to find out. Not for me. Wont be back. P.S. Hate the kerning used for the album title on the album cover.

Well it wasn't as long or offensive as Tommy I guess, so they made some progress. First track is okay, the best example of the repetitive approach throughout the whole album. I checked the amount of time left on a song half a dozen times because they were over 4 minutes long and nothing had happened. There was one called the song won't end or something so I'm pretty sure they knew what they were doing. Painful but fairly short, 1.5.

Pretty average maybe expected more, maybe its on me I dont know? All I know is I always get excited by the who but they seldom deliver. Kinda reminds me of when I deliviered fridges for a white goods retailer back in the 90s. All the way down in Marsille with the crazy med temperatures and the warped knife crimes rampant of the time. Always exptant that the next drop would be easy that time would be made and early afternoon beers would be enjoyed. The reality was cobbled streets and standoffs between rival gangs and the gendarme! Still enougth time to maybe consider the train thats cancelled without bitterness, or maybe time for a beer?

The who ist einfach nicht mein Ding

boomer rock yayyyy. it’s okay. british people just think they’re so bloody brilliant lol. there’s some cute ideas in here but it’s definitely overrated. maybe outstanding for its time but in the grand scheme of music it’s not that great. the production is great; i love the way the guitars are blended and how they compliment the keyboard. the lyrics and vocals are okay but not spine tingling. lmao you british people think so highly of yourselves lol!!!!!!!!!! you really think you’re the fucking greatest BUT YOU’RE NOT CALM TF DOWN

I liked the energy of early Who, but this is straying into Pomp Rock.

fav songs: baba o’riley, my wife, behind blue eyes not what i expected. is it blasphemous to say i thought it was alright but i wouldn’t listen to it again?

At this point, I'm convinced that "Behind Blue Eyes" is the only Who song that I enjoy. Maybe "Baba O'Riley" too. The rest, while I appreciate for being such an energetic and unique brand of rock, is pretty annoying and generic to me.

Pretty heavy handed. Unpleasant voice. Never liked them as much as their contemporaries.

Not for me

I listened. Who's next? ❓❓

Even their best album is still mostly trash.

Wasn't crazy about it, favorite track: baba O'Reilly cuz of the terry Reilly inspired moog arpeggios at the beginning

Never really got the appeal of The Who. Can't deny their influence, and I was hoping this listen might "educate" me, help me finally get them. But it didn't.

I... really could not care less about this album, or the Who. Production is pristine, they're clearly skilled at what they do, I just hate it, is all. 4/10 Not My Jam

Starts and ends with a bang. The rest is 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought this was the best who album I've heard yet, though I certainly consider that a very low bar to meet. It's like calling something the best root canal. in all seriousness, some of the songs were toe tappers.

I can’t get through it

Ok. So this is the one with the synth arpeggiator intro. Cool. Now, let me muster some "I care about and I'm open minded about The Who" energy... Here's the deal. You can use a bunch of unconventional instruments on a rock record. But there has to be: A) prodigious playing, and/or B) great songwriting, along with it. Instead, what we have here is the same three chord jabs and sub-par singing. Two stars 100% earned by Keith Moon's drumming.

baba o'riley 5/5. the rest... boring/5

Two good songs the rest is overhyped

I can’t stand the opening but it got better with time. But not much

Some good songs (Baba O'Rily is a heater), but honestly everything felt very samey. Liked this better than Tommy but not enough to give it another listen.

Ugh. Hard Pass.

I really cannot get into The Who.

Ja minns int de en dag senare :)

Thank god that they weren't allowed to release this as another unsufferable rock opera like the attrocious Tommy. The opening motif was the highlight. Needed more synth, less of the singing. Middling throughout.

Not really feeling this, but I’m not sure why. Nothing stands out to me and it all kind’ve just sounds like something I could hear playing in the background while listening to older rock music. Idk, it was overall kind’ve boring to me. Won’t Get Fooled Again wasn’t bad. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard it before.

Gut abgemischt, aber trotzdem nicht mein Ding.

Production: 7/20 Songwriting: 5/20 Innovation: 9/20 Bangers: 10/20 Emotional response: 5/20 =36 Most of this is fucking horrible

it was better than I though it was gonna be but still get through the whole album

I don't like The Who

No interest. Too Rush-y

I tried. I couldn’t listen to the full album. It drags and is not very interesting to listen to. Painful. I definitely do not like The Who

The who are boring old biddys

I dislike this band about as much as I dislike ZZ Top. Did not finish. Zero stars for me if I could.

Ikke min smak

idk this is like to sincere for me or something. i know this is objectively good but im i guess cynical or something. it just doesnt take me anywhere, which is probably a flaw of my own psyche that this cant dind purchase to probe. never liked this in my classic rock era but knew boys that did. now i can only think of joe pera trying to get his church to join in acapella. actually fuck this why do i have to justify not liking this to myself

My heart sank when I saw an album by the Who. It sank further when I saw it was 2 and a half hours long ....

No lo escuché, 2 albums de total 2:30hs!

i think I've definitely heard baba o reilly before, interesting tone

I didn’t listen

I’ve heard of The Who, as in their name and particularly when they were being mentioned in regard for the British Invasion back in the 60s, with the Beatles leading the charge. Other than that, I’m not familiar with them and 2.5 hours of them as introduction just didn’t do it for me.

wierd, helt okej men inget speciellt

israeli ass album 🫩🥀

The hard rock just isn’t for me

Really not my speed. Added a new York recording off behind blue eyes but that is it.

This can be like background music in a old tavern or something dnd 🤓

bruh not for mee at all

I didn’t like any songs off that jawn

Boring stadium dad rock with one of the ugliest album covers ever

Oookay

just not very interesting to me. I know old white men think this is the opus of all music but it's really just okay. Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd sound infinitely more interesting to me as far as classic rock greats go. I understand the appeal, and the classic nature of this, but I personally would not listen to this by personal choice. Also the carpenters at work play this shit all day anyways so I'm very familiar with this vibe.

Singles are overplayed and annoying. The rest are fillers and annoying.

• bisschen boring bisher • mich hat kein lied beim ersten hören so wirklich gecatched

One good song. Shmeh.

I get it, they are influential. I think the who blows.

Ettan är odiskutabel Lyssna hellre på The Rolling Stones -It's only rock'n'roll, Primal Scream - Give out but don't give up,

All who albums are getting a 1 star for noncing.

Too slow.

Was OK

I embarked upon this exercise to challenge my biases and give everything a listen. But The Who give me the ick and I couldn't get past track 3. Don't know why I bothered...I won't get fooled again.

holy shit, the guys from the csi:miami ahh theme song

I've officially decided that I am not a fan of the Who in any way, shape, or form. All the vocals annoys me, the instrumentals are about as generic old white guy as you can get, and frankly it just isn't impressive or enjoyable to me. I can recognize the quality of Keith Moon's drumming, but a single drummer does not make a band good, and frankly with one of the most obnoxious finales in rock history, I'm going to throw this into the "influential for the worse" pile alongside Yeezus. Congrats, Who, you made power pop. Now every single other rock band will outclass you on it. That's truly revolutionary.

29.04.24 Faves: - Behind blue eyes Opinion: Not my type of genre tbh. I barely enjoyed it.

Not a good album

I hate it and almost everything the Who did. Roger Daltrey always came across as a complete knob.

cannot bring myself to care

I'm beginning to lose faith in this experiment.

Bad bad start to this. Just can't stand The Who.

no soporto a los who

The slower numbers such as Love aint for keeping & the very proggy The song is over remain highlights. The classic Won't get fooled again certainly provides a shift of pace. Otherwise the album is a mish mash without any real cohesion. The combination of Moon & Entwhistle remain of top form throughout but not enough to lift this album past mediocre.

Excellent. A true classic

Not sure exactly what it is that makes me hate Pete Townsend so much. Maybe it's because his stage antics are so deliberate and scripted and ripped off from the Stones or the Kinks, maybe it's because he's an insufferable schmuck who' stated he's happy his deceased bandmates are dead or, maybe its because he has a thing for kids. Oh, and Roger Daltrey's voice is awful. Regardless, there really isn't redeeming in the music on this album, or anywhere for that matter, that stands out, is unique except for maybe Keith Moon's facial expressions while drumming ... hrmmm, or maybe the use of synth repeaters. Buuuut, for the most part this band is Townsend and Daltrey, both of whom I have zero love for.

not for me.

Generic and dull

The highs are roaringly high and get you slapping your leg to the beat. The lows (or mediums?) are ok. Not bad songs but some just clearly lack the energy and you just wait for it to pick back up again.
