Reviews (page 7 of 13)

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again. Now let's order some pizzas, throw down some brews, and play Baba O'Riley on repeat.

Some bangers!

Excellent album! One or two tracks I can't live without, but plenty of hits to make this a classic.

Enjoyed it.

Classic rock album right here

very good!!

A great start with Baba O'Reilly and a strong finish with Behind Blue Eyes and Won't Get Fooled Again gets this album a four. The rest of the music I could take or leave, but those three songs are very good. Another band where a best of compilation is probably the best option.

A few songs I recognized, overall I think it’s a good album

Real Classic Rock. A lot of variety of sound while still having a cohesive vision behind it. Will listen again, for sure.

Helt ok, men ikke for mæ.

first listen! very classic, rock album. surprised I haven't really gotten into them until now favorite track: baba o'riley or won't get fooled again

One of the few albums from The Who I had never listened before. As usual, it's a great rock album, with a lot of energy and a wide range of emotions and atmospheres. Not my absolute favorite, but still a great offering. The musicians all know what they're doing (that was not always a given in the early 70s...) and seem perfectly at ease with any kind of beat. 8/10

Tremendo. Sabía que era un clásico pero no lo había escuchado nunca.

So I've come to the realization a while ago that I'm not a Who fan. I love Tommy but in all I think they're okay and I like most of what are considered their biggest hits. I'm aware this is like their magnum opus or at least a close second to Tommy, and I can fortunately say I like this. I think what really got me is that it is easily the best opener and closer to any album, which are two of their biggest hits that I've always liked for the longest.

Bra grejer, första är onekligen bäst

Enjoyed it more than Tommy, it wasn’t as long and not having to stick to a story allowed more freedom to play. Favorite songs were the two singles and My Wife.

There's nothing wrong with it per say 4

It was surprisingly good. I never thought I would like ZZ Top, but I really enjoyed this album.

finally a who album i enjoy

It was fine. I think I enjoyed it more than most classic rock.

The artwork is legendary...the opening track with the synth is legendary...and there is we don't get fooled again...this is their best effort !

I hadn't particularly listened to this album before, so no affect there. At the risk of beeing sacrilegious, I find the album unaven, with great song that pop out like Baba O'Riley or Behind blue eyes, and other forgatables. It probably deserves more listening though.

As my daughter would say while fixing her verbs: presque parfait

Great album with so many iconic tracks!

Salvei umas 4 músicas, bão demais.

Álbum bom, imagino que pra época deve ter sido inovador, hoje a maioria das músicas soa como um rock qualquer. Destaque pra My wife, Behind blue eyes, I dont even know myself e a clássica Baba O Riley

This is The Who that I'm used to. The mid 60's Who was fine and good, but this album changes the game. Opening up with Baba O'Reilly and ending with Won't Get Fooled Again is a perfect example of how to start and end an album. 3.5/5 = 4 stars Can't miss tracks: Baba O'Reilly My Wife The Song is Over Getting In Tune Won't Get Fooled Again

When I was young, I never thought I would like a record by a the Who. By now, I knew would not dislike "Who's Next" but I did not expect to like it much. The songs are catchy, and rhythm section is fantastic. This is old school rock out record.

• not an album I'd put on in my free time but a classic and reminds me of my childhood • Daltreys voice is not one that speaks to me and my ears...like at all...

So good

Undoubtedly one of if not the finest of Who albums.

The intro to Baba O'Riley marks the fifth album from British rockers, Who's Next, and what an intro it is! Possibly the most recognizable intro on an electric organ in rock music (with the possible exception of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida") But don't forget the drums! Keith Moon is brilliant in "Won't get fooled again" and "Baba O'Riley" and Pete Townshend's ballad "Behind Blue Eyes" is both creepy and heart wrenching. An iconic album from the 70s, that still enjoys radio time decades later, despite what they sing, the song is never over.

Never listened to a Who album before and really enjoyed that. It’s a shame I was reminded of failed Nu Metal band Staind towards the end, but that in turn reminded me of Limp Bizkit, so it evened out.

Good stuff. Was going to go 3.5, but a strong finish to the album. Behind Blue Eyes is a great song and a nice change of pace.

Absolutely cracking

Bangers like Baba O Riley and Behind Blue Eyes here with some fine other songs. Very much enjoyed it!

Minus 1 star for inspiring Limp Bizkit.

Awesome listen. Lots of songs that I have previously heard but didn't know the name or band. Didn't realize Behind Blue Eyes wasn't a Limp Bizkit original..

My third The Who album, and this one is a powerhouse. So many of The Whos hits are back to back on this album. They are able to maintain a signature sound while still having a variety of songs on the album. Overall- I really enjoyed it. 4.5/5

I listened to the original album, not any of the later, very long releases. Surprisingly I knew seven of the nine tracks, because all 7 of them are standards on classic rock stations. Even though the Who are not among my favorites, this is a good album and gets four stars.

Took a point of because I cannot dissociate this album from CSI. Really good the whole way through

Maar eerlijk; The Who valt me hier alles mee! FAVO: Baba O'Riley, The Song Is Over, Behind Blue Eyes, Wont get fooled again

FINAL REVIEW After two listens, I'm giving it a 4/5, liking it a lot more on the second go. It's very bombastic and exciting, and I feel more energetic just from listening to it. It's a perfect album to fill a stadium, but even just in my house, it's great to turn up loud and rock out to. After reading more about it, I am not surprised that this was originally meant to be a stage production or a movie. I will probably end up listening to more The Who albums through this list, and I'm looking forward to it after hearing this one. NOTES 5:49 pm - i'm excited to hear this album, as i've heard it's amazing. i already know the singles, ofc, though i admit i mainly associate them with either memes or fred durst lmao. they are fun, energetic songs though, and i'm in desperate need of some energy right now, so lets go!!! *removes glasses* YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH 5:58 pm - i had to make a playlist just to get a normal, un-remastered version of this album on spotify, jfc. anyways, the opening to baba o'riley is pumps me up so much, like what a fucking banger tbh 6:27 pm - my impression of this album is that it was made with live performances in mind, bc it has the kind of sound that would make it perfect for a stadium concert. really bombastic, like even the ballads have this epic, grand feel to them, with the impassioned vocals and big drums and guitar. for sitting and listening, though, its one of those albums where i can see why ppl who like this style of music would find it absolutely amazing, but its not really for me. it's a strong album, but it doesn't really grab me the way the nick cave album did earlier. it's a 3/5 for me, but i can understand why it's a 5/5 for others.

Too many basic songs in the middle of the album to earn five stars. Feel like lots of filler bookended by a couple bangers. They're sort of basic Rock in general, but when it works it works.

Everyone knows this is a classic, but honestly I found this quite disappointing. It's a fine album, no doubt, but for something that has had praises sung about it far and wide - and is even considered a GOAT album - is this really it? The hits certainly make this thing, but what about the non-hits? They really didn't feel very special to me at all. Outside Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, and Won't Get Fooled Again; can you REALLY say this album is perfect, or one of the best ever? I doubt it. This record is carried by those 3. It would be a damn mediocre album without them. If not to prove my point, they are all held at the very front and back of the records - so those other songs are the very DEFINITION of filler. Still, those 3 hits are bangers, no doubt. And the filler is pretty damn listenable. Good album, but not as amazing as I was expecting.

Finally, some good fucking food. The food in question being a bit of an inverted sandwich. All the tastiest parts of this album come on the front and back ends of the runtime, and while you’re not going to be put off by anything in there. It’s also just plain white bread at the end of the day. Always nice to hear this version of Behind Blue Eyes, I feel as though the Limp Bizkit one is all I hear in public anymore. The 2nd stretch with the harmony in the back is too good

‘Who’s Next’ is what I repeatedly think as I feverishly catch up on 200 missed reviews. Baba O’Riley, iconic, unforgettable, immortalised. Sublime instrumentals that go every which way. Behind Blue Eyes, better songwriting and vocals than Baba O’Riley. I liked the slower and more acoustic sound that builds up to the last third of the track, which came together really well. The ending of Won’t Get Fooled Again, hell yeah, I had no idea that scream came from this song. This album’s instruments are consistently on point, only let down by some more ordinary songs in the middle compared to the hits at either end. Highlights: Baba O'Riley, Bargain, Getting In Tune, Behind Blue Eyes

I seriously cannot hear the opening of Baba O’Riley without receiving psychic damage. Probably the same for Won’t Get Fooled Again. The royalties for these two tracks alone have probably built Pete Townshend multiple houses they’ve been used so frequently in film and TV. I think this is a rock solid album with very little to criticise.

Not the best by the Who imo, but still pretty gooooood. 7/10

After a few days and listens to let this bake in, I conclude that although the non-hits on here aren't remarkable per se, they are very very good. The hits on here bookend the listen and those three tracks are probably the best songs The Who, maybe even the entire British Invasion ever produced. Highlights: Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, Won't Get Fooled Again

So good

Great start and end and the tracks leading off/into those are good too. Slight drift in the middle

Good one

Liked the first and last tracks a lot, and generally like The Who, but the middle songs didn’t stand out as much to me.

La batería es una locura.

Pretty solid. More ballad-y than I was expecting, but a lot of classic songs.

This album shouldn’t have surprised me for how good it was because of its legendary status, but it surprised me still the same. I guess I have low expectations for 70s rock albums. Great stuff and will listen again.

Excellent album

Favorites: Baba Oriley, getting in tune, won't get fooled again, behind blue eyes So rad, no skips, short album of long songs.

Baba O'Riley is a rock classic that is immediately recognizable. I had not heard the rest of this album. Behind Blue Eyes and Won't Get Fooled Again deserve being up there with Baba O'Riley. Bargain and Getting in Tune were underrated nice surprises. Overall, great album from a great classic rock group

bangers on this record!

Dad rock doesn't typically do it for me, but this was much more interesting a listen than other Who records I've listened to. Some lulls, but an even mix of 3s and 4s. 3.5/5 - > 4/5

A classic from my youth, and while I also enjoy Quadropehia, I probably consider this the best of the Who.

👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

classic rock vibes, pretty nice listen while driving

Ok I think maybe I'm gonna vibe with this. Don't let me down The Who Baba O'Riley - Oh I know this opening riff, did not realize this is what the song is called. Very cool. In 1971 I bet this was fucking crazy to hear. Oh yeah this song rips. This is a banger. Bargain - The vocals and instrumentation on this album sound so good. The guitars sound AWESOME. Roger Daltrey sounds so good. Not my favorite song, but i still love the sound of it. Would never skip it. I dig the outros on the songs so far. Love Ain't For Keeping - This band is such a vibe, I'm sure they blew people away back then. Good little track, nothing crazy My Wife - The vocals sound quite different on this, is that Roger singing? Maybe someone else? But what a vibe. This is fun. The Song Is Over - Vibe switch up, much slower. Piano is nice. Not my favorite track so far, but it's over 6 minutes long, so maybe it switches up mid song too. Oh yeah here it goes. It's pickin up. Probably my least favorite track so far, but not awful. Getting In Tune - Something about this really resonates with me. Good melody, good sound overall. I like this one, banger. Going Mobile - BEEP BEEP. Cool guitar solo. It makes me laugh when he sings "going mo-bile" haha Behind Blue Eyes - I like the vocal harmonies a lot. Bro when the guitars and drums come in...hell fuckin yeah dude. This song bangs. Won't Get Fooled Again - The END the album with this fuckin song? Whoa, hell yeah. Great song that I've heard before, can't wait to listen to it again. MEET THE NEW BOSS, SAME AS THE OLD BOSS!!! LETS FUCKIN GOOOOO DUDE. Gave me goosebumps Overall - I was not let down by this album, great effort from The Who. Would definitely listen to it again. LOVE how the guitars sound on this, and the vocals are great.

Some classic songs. Almost a five, but it dragged a bit in the middle

Keith Moon is a master class in drumming.

Al principio igual fue más monótono pero iba mejorando cada canción sooo cool

I didnt listen to all the songs on Spotify, because the deluxe version was the one linked and 2 hours would have really made me hate this. I kept to the original tracks. As it stands, I quite enjoyed this.

Pretty good. Nothing that really blew my socks off though. Baba O'Riley is a great song

Very easy to listen to with an absolute banger on first!

Bookended by two amazing songs at the beginning and end. The five in between are great too, but they don't quite reach the heights of the top two and bottom two.

Good album, quite a few recognizable hits. It was funny to realize that a lot of the songs are simply not named what I would have expected. The lead track, "Baba O'Riley" is a great example, I have gone my whole life thinking it was called teenage wasteland. "Behind Blue Eyes" I would have anticipated being "No One Knows What It's Like" based on the refrain, but the music itself is all well done. There wasn't a surprising track on the list, so it is thoroughly classic The Who

As opposed to the other Who album I got a few days ago, I felt that this really captured the essence of the band well. This is The Who at its best with great tracks all around. I would say that some of the tracks in the middle were not as great as the big hits off this album, but they still held up as good songs.

4 stars 2 of the greatest rock n roll songs of all time bookend this album. And a few other pretty good tracks too. But that’s not enough to make a perfect album. A great album, sure. But the middle of the album just left me eager for the end.

84/100. A hard rock classic packed with timeless tracks. The production still holds up impressively well, and the sound remains powerful and energetic.

It has been 30 days since I've had an album worthy of anything over a 3. Who would break the streak? Who woulda thunk it? The Who! 4.

Who's next? Who knows? I have such a mixed relationship with this band. And what a band they were: John Entwistle, Keith Moon, and Pete Townshend were exceptional players — smart, enthusiastic, excessive, and tasteful only when it counted. Sometimes all in the same song. Live, they leaned harder into the musical chaos, and I'm always here for that, but today I'm holding my review to just the studio tracks. Who's missing from my review so far? Roger Daltrey. I know most of the lyrics are Townshend's, and maybe that's why Daltrey sometimes lacks presence and an ability to reach the listener (especially in the verses). To my ear, he only really adds something on a few tracks. And sometimes Pete's lyrics are just too goofy for me. I'm open to weirder, more conceptual writing, but these songs often lean too hard on character and narrative at the expense of immediate connection (i.e. the stories can feel forced). Couple that with the occasional song that doesn't shift out of its groove enough, and that's when The Who are just a mid question mark. And yet, and yet, The Who are special. Their mastery of dynamics is eternal — a rock and roll template — those well-timed pushes, accents, and rests. Wildly sustained chords. And the way they build to a crescendo with crashing guitars and bombastic drums, while the bass both anchors and augments it all with melodic runs? What is that, if not the sound of a band playing with explosives? When they increase tempo mid-song, like at the end of Getting in Tune, it's like a controlled detonation. And then, there's that opening to Baba O'Riley with the synth loop driving the theme while each instrument enters and the band kicks in. It's combustive. It's one of the most memorable intros of this era in rock. It's The Who. Finally, in this album, that they recall that synth sound in Won't Get Fooled Again is a clever and rewarding return for an excellent close-out track that is both measured in megatons and well-crafted. So, yeah. It's a flawed classic. My opinion on them will always be a bit mixed but I'm more a fan than not. And, while this isn't my favorite album by them, there are standout, time-honored bangers here. Who's Next? Only The Who knew.

A stadium-sized statement from a band caught between rock opera ambition and raw power. 𝘞𝘩𝘰’𝘴 𝘕𝘦𝘹𝘵 refines The Who’s sound into a tight, muscular form, blending synthesizers, power chords, and existential angst without losing their edge. 𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘢 𝘖’𝘙𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘺 and 𝘞𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘎𝘦𝘵 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯 are thunderous anthems, but the album’s heart beats just as loud in the quieter moments. And let’s be honest — 𝘉𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘌𝘺𝘦𝘴 is far more affecting in its original form than in that Limp Bizkit version. Not flawless, but undeniably iconic.

This album was really good, and ahead of its time. I really liked the use of synthesizers and other more unusual instruments, and the first two and last two songs were amazing. This reminded me of a cross between Jethro Tull, Yes, and Bruce Springsteen. I super respect this album and think it has the caliber to be 5 stars, but I just don't personally connect with it enough for that. Favorite Track: Baba O'Riley

Great Album.

This is one of their better albums, particularly because it's not a live recording. My previous review gave it a 4, I think I'll stick with that.

baba orielly

Goeie intro, verder prima te beluisteren.

Paar lekkere nummertjes, gewoon goed voor af en toe.

Who's Next is peak The Who for me. "Baba O'Riley" and "Won't Get Fooled Again" stand as some of the greatest anthems ever written, and "Behind Blue Eyes" and "The Song is Over" offer a softer side to these rockers. The choice to abandon concept albums was a wise one, as a shorter album of good songs proves more potent. There is, however a slight lull in the record appears in Entwhistle-led "My Wife". Overall, absolutely necessary. A best for The Who.

piss album but really, this album is really good. not the best of classic work, i feel like the vocals could be better, but damn some of these songs are iconic for good reason

++: Baba O'Riley, Bargain, My Wife, The Song Is Over, Getting in Tune, Going Mobile, Won't Get Fooled Again +: Love Ain't for Keeping +-: Behind Blue Eyes 9,0/10

This is pretty great and it has Baba O-reily. The thing with the Who is that they play the most classic of classic rock. They are the vanilla ice cream of rock bands. They are great, but I have an affinity for the more avante garde and eccentric work. So I just can never get that into The Who. Tommy had the same thing going on.

Hey, it's that song that's in everything. I definitely thought it was named "Teenage Wasteland". From The Girl Next Door to Family Guy, to CSI NY, from UFC to Need for Speed to the official song of Joey Chestnut, this song has legs. The rest of the album is good too.

Classic dad rock gem. Outstanding start and end and a decent middle. Fav tracks (obviously): Baba O'Riley and Behind Blue Eyes

Giving this 4 stars because there are 3 ALL TIME classics and bangers on this album. I think Baba O'Riley is one of the greatest songs ever made. Besides those 3 songs, the others are a bit more run of the mill. Still good, but nothing insanely special.

classic rock isn’t my genre of choice but i have no idea how i never listened to this when it was. i was missing out. even now this is great. I was low-key half asleep for some of it but man I forgot how good good ol classic rock can be

Fun album. Lot of classics on here and hidden gems.

Really good at what it does - album cover goes hard as well

Keith moon left a mark.

great album

3 great hits surrounding some pretty forgettable songs. This was a similar case to What’s the story but I think what’s the story had much better middle than this. Therefore, 4. Honestly, won’t get fooled again didn’t do as much for me as I remember it doing.

Besides the 3 major bangers on this album, I just thought it was pretty decent. Those 3 songs definitely bump it up to a 4 though. I was expecting this album to have more depth than it did.

A classic, Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again are legendary classic/arena rock songs. I also didn't realise until the song started that Behind Blue Eyes was The Who. Learn something new every day.

A lot of great tracks and a solid album.

Solid album that earned its reputation as foundational classic rock. Very listenable.

Not my style but very influential

Three solid hits and an iconic album cover. The record is bookended by two incredible tracks, "Baba O'Riley" and "Won't Get Fooled Again." While a bit slower and more introspective than I originally remember, the overall vibe of this album upon re-listen was greatly needed. A perfectly produced studio album and quite possibly my favorite of The Who. It comes close to greatness, but never truly reaches the upper echelon of a 5 on this rating scale, but this is a definitely a solid 4 ~ 4.5. A great way to end the week on what may go down as one of the weirdest (and shittiest) 5 day listening streaks since starting this list.

The best things I have heard from The Who. Several classic hits and some of the other songs were good too.

Very cool album Great instrumentals and nice vocals

Lifelong hits

It's an icon for a reason. There's several hits, it flows well, and it has moments that totally hold your attention.

This was really good, not the generic “dad rock” I was expecting, it feels really ahead of its time especially in baba o Riley with the marimba organ, also used in some of the others. Favourites: the hits, bargain, love ain’t for keeping, getting in tune and going mobile, pretty much all but 2 which I felt were a bit weaker and not as enjoyable for me. Overral 8/10.

Now that's a classic, one I've absolutely listened to before. Still love Behind Blue Eyes and Won't Get Fooled Again.

Ochestrial rock

Brilliant keyboard. Daltreys voice !

8/10 Undeniably amazing album. I need some more time to sit with it to give it a perfect rating. Classics on here Favorite Tracks: Baba O Reiley, the Song is over, Won’t get fooled again

I loved a lot of the songs on this album. But then a few of them didn't really click for me. That's my experience with The Who in a nutshell. Still a great album, though.

This is a good album, and one I've listened to before! I would say 7/10, so I'm going 4/5.

пиздатый альбом

Who's Next scratched that classic rock itch. The Who created extremely good, reliable, energetic rock music throughout their career, but this album is probably The Who at their finest. Several of their biggest hits are on this album. Often I'm already over an artist's top hits at this stage in my life, but there's something about "Won't Get Fooled Again" that's timeless. I didn't realize I knew the song "Bargain," which made for a fun listen. 4.5, but I just don't love it as much as Tommy.

So while I believe that The Who is very deserving of several places on this project, I've questioned a couple of the specific album inclusions; it's definitely resulted in me leaving some average reviews for The Who. That said, a The Who album like this is what I've been waiting for! This album shows off The Who at their prime. Several of their most epic songs are on this album (two of which are the bookends of the album). And even the "less epic" songs on the album are outstanding. This is just an incredibly well-crafted album full of great musicianship. It would probably be the album that, in my opinion, marks when The Who officially cemented themselves in the big leagues, and ultimately as rock legends.

The Who are a band that I remember listening to as a teenager and thinking they were a bit naff (except Pinball Wizard - I always liked that one). Since then, I’ve listened to Tommy in full and it’s great, so today’s album had be optimistic. Thankfully, it is indeed a good album with really nice rock riffs throughout. The better songs do seem to be bookended as a the first and final tracks, but it does remain quite enjoyable throughout. Honestly, I don’t know why I disliked them as a youngster.

It is a pretty nice classic album. Has 2 of my favorite songs of all time Won't Get Fooled Again and Baba O'Riley.

Solid, well rounded album.

This album is actually great! I think I’ve heard the beginning of the first song so many times but never heard it all the way through

The Who’s Who’s Next remains a thunderous, four-star pillar of classic rock, exploding with power, ambition, and anthemic precision. From the iconic synth-driven surge of “Baba O’Riley” to the primal howl of “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” the album captures the band at their creative peak—bridging raw rock energy with forward-thinking production. “Bargain” burns with emotional intensity, while “Behind Blue Eyes” unveils a haunting vulnerability beneath the bravado. “Going Mobile” shows off Keith Moon’s kinetic drumming, and even the cheeky “My Wife” charms with swaggering horns and Entwistle’s tongue-in-cheek delivery. With Who’s Next, The Who didn't just ride the wave of arena rock—they helped invent it.

Bardzo przyjemne. Wchodzi jak słowo boże

Great album. Baba O'Reilly is the best, and while not as good, the other songs hold up.

It's at least a 4 for Baba O'Reilly alone. The whole thing still sounds fresh.

I feel like this should be a five. I even own this album. But it's never quite clicked with me (but is still obviously a great album).

Great album cover and great tracks for Saturday chores.

A classic full of well known jewels, and less know powerful songs. 8/10

Álbum supimpa.

Starts and ends very strongly, the mid section had some less impactful songs but overall this has some great, classic tracks.

Probably my favorite album of theirs. Some great songs. They're not all totally awesome, but there's no bad ones. The bass has a really nice feel to it. Favorite song: Baba O'Reily

Compared to the last two Who albums I've listened to on here, this shows their complete transition to arena rock, and I feel they're that much stronger for it - the sound is bigger, the songs more fleshed out, and the listening experience much more enjoyable. There's a couple of staple tracks on here, but the album as a whole still works well around them. Definitely the best Who on here so far, not a doubt.

Classic

One of the best opening songs ever <3

Starts of STRONG(as in probably one of their best tunes strong) and ends strong. The middle is kinda middling.

I don’t know if the middle sagged, or if those songs in the middle just suffer from being squeezed between some amazing songs in the opening and closing, but either way, the middle feels lesser than the rest of the album.

Pretty formulaic, but a pretty good formula. Good drums throughout, liked the album intro via the Baba keys. Prefer the slightly less bombastic Quadrophenia overall but I think this still stands up as a good straightforward 70s Rock Record.

Classic album with zero skips.

A classic

3 all-time great tracks. Just seems so "musical" compared to modern music...

Got some good songs, doesn't have enough bangers to get 5 but 4 is good.

The Who sounds a little bit like the Beatles, I know it's an English rock band, don't know much about them, not to say that I didn't like them, on the contrary, very pleasant music.

'Who's next' is what I think when most boomer rock comes up on this list. This can stay though. Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again are proper bangers in particular. Love those synthy sounds. Great artwork too.

Good album with great A and solid B sides.

Classic rock album that i finally listened. First and last tracks fuck forreal. That repeating organ or whatever it is, is so cool.

Hey, I mean. This was pretty good. Nice listen. Added some banners to the playlist 4/5

Baba O'Riley - 5/5 (classic) Bargain - 4/5 Love Ain't For Keeping - 4/5 (short but sweet) My Wife - 3/5 The Song Is Over - 4/5 Getting In Tune - 5/5 Going Mobile - 3/5 Behind Blue Eyes - 5/5 Won't Get Fooled Again - 5/5 Average score: 4.2/5 i'd never been a listener of this group but holy shit... when was someone gonna tell me they were kinda good?? i liked Baba O'Riley and i know it's the most famous track of theirs ever but i think it's been played out imho, i've heard in too many ads over the years. Getting In Tune and Behind Blue Eyes were my standout tracks from this album, i could see myself playing them on the regular

Baba O'Riley esch halt scho e banger. Söscht au relativ guete Rock

each time i listen to the who i get surprised that i actually really enjoy it

Ngl, when I saw that this album has been tagged with a "hard-rock" label, I was low key dreading listening to it! But this was surprisingly fun! I liked the bluesy undertones in what I would otherwise call "screamy music". 🙈😅 (The screaming wasn't too bad though!) Hard rock might never be my goto genre but listening to this album has made me excited enough to at least give other music in this genre a chance 😬 Songs that stood out: I actually liked almost all songs, but especially Baba O'riley and Bargain Album rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

4/5 Levyn tempo osui tänään makiasti työpäivän tahtiin. Toimivaa rämpettä.

Very nice classic 70s sound banger!

Love the classic rock, live versions are a lil meh for me tho

Another one of their albums? Eurgh... I’ve said it in every one of my reviews of The Who so far, I’m just not a fan. Well, fortunately this time we have a good one. Relatively familiar with a few of the songs already and the rest is pretty good too. Glad to get something decent.

Overall: 8/10 This is my favourite album by The Who for the fact that it isn't trying as hard as some of their other albums. It seems they just wanted to rock the hell out for a bit in between the goliaths that are Tommy and Quadrophenia. This is also the only album by The Who that I own on vinyl and that might have a big influence over how I perceive the album. I remember being blown away the first time I listened to it. The keyboard work is so incredible, then you've got Keith and John killing it in the rhythm section. I also think Roger has never sounded better. The middle section of the album isn't mind blowing but it's bookended by four of the band's best songs. I'd also piss on that stupid looking rock. Fav Song: Won't Get Fooled Again Least Fav Song: My Wife

I grew up loving this band and Pete’s guitar work is super unique with the big open chords. That said, I thought the singles and greatest hits were the highlight of this album.

Baba o Riley carries

Obviously Baba O'Riley is the greatest song of all time. The rest of the album was enjoyable but unremarkable for me

1/1001 Good album, 7/10

In my view Who’s Next is the most consistently strong track wise of The Who’s albums. Tommy is still my overall favourite album of theirs with this following close. Behind Blue Eyes is my favourite track.

The Who are definitely one of the best bands to come out of the psych/prog rock scene in the late 60s and early 70s. And this is definitely one of their best albums, just all around doing everything right and having so many great and consistent moments.

3.75/5 solid, liked the beginning and end songs more than those in the middle

Nyt oli hyvä. Reipasta ja menevää, laulusta ja soittimista sai selvää. Voisin kuunnella toistekin.

Tykkään todella paljon, vaikka muutama heikompi kappale mahtuu joukkoon. Levyllä käytetään monipuolisesti eri soittimia. Perustana on silti perinteinen rokkisoundi.

It's about time! This merits 4.5-5 stars for sure. This album was all over the radio in the 70's and 80's and still gets a ton of airplay. HUGE hits like "Baba O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Bargain", "Behind Blue Eyes" and glue tracks like "The Song Is Over", "Getting In Tune" and "Going Mobile" all got air time. 8 out of 9 tracks ("My Wife", still a good song) get on the radio, that's just flat out impressive. This is a good portion of any Who greatest hits album! No denying it, whether you're a fan of The Who or even classic rock, this album is stacked and has the sales, the airtime, the longevity, the influence and the hits you expect from a Top 1001 album. After listening this is a solid 5 because of everything I mentioned above.

Love Ain’t for Keeping is my favourite track. Very 70s album, some blues elements, psychedelic elements. Easy to listen to.

Amazing album, but something’s missing… and I can’t explain.

One of the best album starts I've ever heard. It also finishes really strong, but the middle section lags behind somewhat in the in comparison. Nevertheless, those are some iconic sounds and singles, and although it's not quite my cup of tea, I have to respect that this album dates back to 1971 and still holds up to this day.

Good stuff. I liked this one Baba O'Riley - what a great song 4 ⭐️

I always cringe hard about the high notes in Baba O'Riley 😂 The rest is solid

Classic classic rock. One of the best imo

im a dad on all levels except physical so ofc i find this album great

Much enjoyed

Some classics and some drags.

3.5 stars

I don’t know if you can start an album stronger than Baba O’Riley, and the finish is so good, but the album tracks are a bit anonymous.

I agree with what's been said elsewhere on reviews - some stand out tracks to start and finish with some fairly middle of the road offerings between.

Some really good stuff on here. 4 stars

84% Best: Baba O’Riley; Getting In Tune; Behind Blue Eyes; Won’t Get Fooled Again Must-Hear? Sure

some proper bangers on here

Definitely some iconic bangers. Not ever gonna be a band that I gravitate towards but it’s a solid album.

Good stuff. I prefer the keyboard stuff since the melodies are better with it.

Absolutely cracking opener and closer, and although nothing in between is quite as good, they're still good enough to be decent listening and the standout tracks earn it a four. Also, the drumming here is top notch.

Baba O'Riley and Behind Blue Eyes on this album... The rest is also pretty good

Thi album has a lot of classics. Behind blue eyes is definitely my favorite track.

I liked it! Easy to listen to, upbeat. Pretty much on par with any other 70s rock band though lol

Good album, little bit proggy

Sounds like old HE DID IT HE DID THE YEA

I never really got into the mainstream rock stuff. I guess I just found it kinda boring compared to the post/prog metal stuff I prefer. That, or I was just too lazy to try it. Probably both. Anyways, Who's Next changed my mind on rock. Two tracks in, I wasn't too impressed. It was probably on track for a 6.8/10 or something. But then I got into it a little more. Still not the greatest thing I'd ever heard, but I was grooving. Then Behind Blue Eyes came on, and oh my god, that was all I needed to truly fall in love. Whenever I listen to an album, it often takes a really really good song to truly hook me on it and convince me to love the rest of the album, and Behind Blue Eyes was what did that for me. I haven't relistened to the album yet, but I can tell I'm gonna have a good time doing so.

Several really good songs and several songs I could do without. The good ones outshine the rest and put this up there for me. 4/5

Really good, use of piano and organ gave it a pretty unique sound that i enjoyed

Love it!

Like scratching your balls where it really itches

A classic. (15 known/27 new)

I’m not even the biggest Who fan, but this album rules. Everything seemingly holds up after 54 years. I love that they hit you with a punch right out of the gates with Baba O’Reilly. It feels like one of the best opening tracks anyone could have ever selected for an album. There’s a few more decent rock numbers, highlighting each member’s talents as well. Going to the ballad of Behind Blue Eyes then immediately kicking your ass again with Won’t Get Fooled Again to close it all out feels like you’re getting a perfect live music experience and they’re sending you home on a high note wanting more. Anyways, fantastic record. 9 songs filled with emotional highs and lows and nothing that feels like it’s going on too long. God, Keith Moon was so good.

An album that absolutely should be a mess considering the backstory but wound up being pretty great. It was near impossible for The Who to follow Tommy, though Townsend had an even bigger concept album planned in Life House. They recorded a ton of the songs live, kept pushing, Pete had a nervous breakdown, the band tried to pick up and recover, and somehow put something together from the ashes. “Baba O’Riley” is still maybe the greatest opener in rock history, an instant anthem for the teenage wasteland. Other standout hits include “Behind Blue Eyes” (accept no substitutes) and “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” but “Getting in Tune”, “My Wife” and “The Bargain” are classics too. Still, they left off some of the greatest songs like “Water”, “Pure and Easy”, and “The Seeker” to emerge as one off singles or rarities later. Daltrey is in peak vocal form here, with some of his best singing. Entwistle is as grooving and brilliant on base as ever, and Keith Moon is able to take his madcap energy to different anthemic moments just as well as the rockers he’s been playing to this point. If there’s any weak link, it’s Townsend, who sounds every bit as strung out as he was in real life. Only in the highest moments of “Baba O’Riley” and in the powerful thrumming of “Won’t Get Fooled Again” do we really hear his signature sound. They’d peak one last time after this with the mod opera Quadrophenia, but this was a band in crisis, and out of it made a hell of an album. It’s just not their best.

The Who is one of those bands I've heard about and know the name of because it seems like everyone has heard of them. And I've for sure heard at least the riff from 'Baba O'Riley' and the scream from 'Won't Get Fooled Again'. I've heard 'Behind Blue Eyes' before, but I think I might only have heard the Limp Bizkit cover. All in all there's some interesting things going on here, and a lot of it I very easy to consume so I could see myself listen to it again Standout Baba O'Riley Behind Blue Eyes Won't Get Fooled Again 4/5

It’s alright. It has some classics on it, but they all kind of sound the same?

This was really good. Will listen to again

Decent album, has some great songs.

Not looking at the track list going into this one, I was fully prepared for there to be at least a few throwaway songs. It was the 70s, the Who had just done Tommy and would soon do Quadrophenia, which are both maximalist to absurd degree, you gotta figure some of that is gonna bleed through here. Nope! Three bangers, a great ballad, the first/only good John Entwistle song, a couple of solid album tracks, and the soundtrack to the most memorable Nissan commercial of our youths.

★★★★⅕

Really good album, which must have one of the best classic rock opening tracks. Baba O'Riley really kicks the album into action with those first powerful guitar chords. Also has the classic Behind blue eyes and ending with Won't get fooled again. A few fillers, but definitely worth checking out. 4/5

I mean this has some all time classics on it

En ymmärtänyt koko juonta.m vähän genesis kuumlostaa se tuttu bändi... hmmmm

Rock and roll genius.

Хороший альбом, содержит трек Baba O'Riley, он эпохальный

A couple of stone cold classics, monolithic in scale, scope and impact. And then a couple that felt pissed up the wall! Hayooo – I joke. (Best album cover of all time? It’s always resonated with me, even before knowing what’s on this record.) I enjoyed this album as much in a kind of “thank you” sort of way as I did actually and viscerally the music. Certainly, there’s plenty on this record to back Eddie Vedder’s “they left us no new places to explore” sentiments … even if that sentiment only strictly applies to acts with the imagination of Pearl Jam. Thanks for the power chords, the Marshall stacks, and the tunes, Pete. And thanks for the attack, everyone else. But more than anything, thanks for not playing “Fiddle about” again. (Fave song besides the obvious: “My wife”.)

discasso vtnc

I’ll tell you who’s next: me, to play this album over and over again. Out of my way, I say! Classics are classics because you can listen to them anytime and they don’t get old. So I’m an Xer with Boomer taste maybe, I don’t know; this record smacks.

Different sound than "My Generation", but very good end to end.

Oh man classic album! It's good like a classic of the 70s, Baba O'Reilly, won't get fooled again, behind blue eyes?! Classic and the funny thing is this isn't even one of my favorite bands from this time period, but they do have some great songs in their catalog!

Sort of like a fleeting dream that has no meaning once you wake up and clear your head.

A more melodic, soft, and introspective album from them with the obvious hits I knew, but it was nice to hear it all front to back to see how cohesive it is as a whole.

Fav: Won’t Get Fooled Again Least Fav: Going Mobile CSI Miami jumpscare

I know this group. Legendary rock group. I know this album, never heard it all the way through. I know these first two tracks. Yeah this is a good album.

Strong finisher, remember listing to this music as a kid.

The Who - Who's Next It just keeps getting better. Some really iconic moments from pop culture come from this album. The first and last songs on the album are just perfect in any way. It's really consistent with the quality that it offers, although there are some loose ones that just don't hit. With that being said however, overall, this is REALLY great! 1.- Baba O'Riley = 10/10 2.- Bargain = 10/10 3.- Love Ain't For Keeping = 7/10 4.- My Wife = 9/10 5.- The Song Is Over = 10/10 6.- Getting In Tune = 9/10 7.- Going Mobile = 7/10 8.- Behind Blue Eyes = 7/10 9.- Won't Get Fooled Again = 10/10 FINAL SCORE: 8.8/10

An all time classic. Truly some of the best songs of the generation. Unfortunately, a few others don't live up to that level, but still a fantastic and musically deep work.

p227. 1971. 4 stars. Class 60s act show how to transition to the 70s in style. This is the yardstick against which all 70s rock albums need to be measured. It's not perfect - it gets flabby in the middle - but when it's good (and most of it is) it's brilliant.

We've had quite a few of their albums, and I think this one is probably the best of the bunch to date. Baba O'Riley is an iconic opener, and Behind Blue Eyes / Won't Get Fooled Again is a great combination to close the album. What's in between is a bit mixed, ranging between okay and pretty good, and enough to get this album into the 4 range.

Really good album! Going Mobile was a cool song I haven’t heard before, and ofc Behind Blue Eyes is really great

Not a bad album. 7/10

Enjoyed this a lot.

Slows in the middle, but what a bang at beginning & end

No doubt - this album contains some all time classic rock songs - I’m looking at you Baba O’ Reilly, Who Ate You, and Behind Blue Eyes. These songs transcend time and somehow never sound dated. The problem with having those songs on an album is that the other songs are measured by the same ruler. That being said a few of the other songs brought this album down for me. My Wife was an odd song that actually used horns…..weird. Love Ain’t For Keeping sounded very dated. Bargain and Going Mobile were familiar and I enjoyed them. This Song is Over was new to me and decent. All being said……a great but uneven album.

Better then i was expecting. It seemed to have all the Who songs I like.

I liked this one a lot. Plenty of songs that are popular and for a good reason. It's almost a 5 star, but not quite.

- Who doesn't like the Who? - I mean, it's not my favourite thing of all time, but I know a good record when I hear it, and this one has all these influences that can't be overstated - From that timeless classic Baba O'Reilly, and practically closing on Behind Blue Eyes, this album has been cemented in culture as a true classic

Great album. Loads or good tracks. Love the Synth organs sounds.

This is an album I’ve grown to appreciate more, especially now that I’m diving into so much music. It was definitely innovative for its time, particularly in how it used synthesizers—far ahead of what mainstream rock was doing back then. The production is also incredible, standing out compared to many other albums from the same period. The Who is easily one of the most influential bands in shaping the early evolution of hard rock.

Great album

Moon's drumming is the star here

Damn good

Three out of ten songs forgettable filler, but the rest are essentially a best of record. I never realized how many of the Who songs I know from the radio came from this one record.

Iconic

Easy listen since I like The Who and love their sound/genre/time period. Surprisingly catchy.

Very good classic rock album, excellent tunes.

4.1 Amazing how much the Whos songs evolved from 1965 to 1971. Drums are a little low in the mix considering how great Moon was regarded. 4-5 All time songs. Behind blues eyes could be a great karaoke song, if I was able to sing

This is the best of The Who by a mile. Loved it. Dad rock at its finest. Classics like Baba O'Reilly and Won't Get Fooled again can't be overlooked.

Kult album -> ingen skips!

got the Baba O'Riley, the rest is pretty good too. good sound, pretty consistent but not all same-y 7/10

Easy 3.9 or above, Baba O' Riley, Bargain and my tax evasion song, Going mobile.

Probably the best who album out there, but never could get into the who in general. Songs getting in tune are so lazy lyrically, a song about tuning your guitar. Amazing... In any case still some great songs here 4*

A great record.

Between Baba O'Riley and Behind Blue Eyes there's a bunch of just kinda okayish fun typical 70s dad rock cuts. But uh yeah the beginning and ending of this album are some of the greatest in rock's history so, like, yea pretty decent I'd say

Much better than some of the more straightforward rock albums of The Who that we’ve listened to previously. Great songs with memorable melodies that still maintain that hard rockin’ edge.

4 maybe 5

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me, you won’t get fooled again” George W. 4 bangers on this album.

Really great album. Top notch classics on this one, just enough rock and roll.

4.5/5. Pissing on a monolith is pretty rock n roll I guess.

Some dated lyrics hold me back from rating this album a 5. But, on its own, I can see why it's one of the greats. Rockin' goodness. Best songs: Getting in Tune, Won't Get Fooled Again Worst songs: My Wife, Water

The three standout songs on this album are timeless classics and the rest isn't bad either. Nice rock tunes that keep on ticking. Well performed too.

Damn that top review really is spitting facts

These guys were ahead of the curve in their day!

Brilliant

Baba o Riley is something that technically is very impressive especially for this time but as bad as this may sound I’ve never really loved this one as much.with this album I’d much rather listen to this song is over or getting in tune. I get how baba o Riley is technically better but there’s just something about it that isn’t for me. Behind blue eyes is a favourite of mine though and won’t get fooled again is great 4/5

I like the who, and there's some bangers on here, but some definite non bangers too.

I enjoyed this one

Who's Next is the album where The Who fully proved their worth to me. It does seem to be another concept album from them but this one actually seems to have a lot more structure to it. The songs here don't have any iffy sounding moments like some the ones from Tommy did but here they do have their own sound here and don't seem to be ripping anything off unlike My Generation which was a clear Beatles rip off. This album did feel like a bit of a drag but it never got too much. There were quite a couple of great songs on this album so that easily makes up for it anyway. This is actually a pretty great album and the best Who album i have done so far. Best Song: Bargain Worst Song: Love Ain't For Keeping

Definitely the best of The Who albums we’ve had so far. Still not crazy about them but this album is really solid from beginning to end, has some hits, and kinda helps me understand the hype.

The Who albums have a lot of peaks and valley's. Every album has one or two of their best hits and the rest of it can usually be forgotten. This album is very similar, but the three songs "Baba O' Reily", "Behind Blue Eyes", and "Won't Get Fooled Again" are some of The Who's Highest Peaks. The other songs don't matter at all, but those three alone are enough for a 4. When people think of The Who, they're thinking about this album.

Mjög gott rokk og töff plötuumslag. Baba O´Riley er epísk snilld. Síðustu 2 lögin neglur líka og margt gott þar á milli líka. Townshend semur þetta allt, einn af stóru snillingum rokksögunnar. Geggjaður gítarleikari.

very enjoyable, easy listening

Opening with Baba is a strong move

This was pleasant. I see why they have so many fans and are such a big name.

Their best work for sure. Full of classics, solid overall. Maybe not 5 stars for me, but a very solid album.

An explosion of sound!

average i guess 4/5

Great rock album, classics along bang enough for a 4, but enjoyed the rest too

This is a band that's always been around, but I've never really dug into. The drums are excellent. Just baba O'Reilly, bargain and behind blue eyes would immediately make this a great album.

Great album with some extremely popular tracks that despite being overplayed both in movies and certain clubs, still are bangers that you can listen to over and over again. Solid 4/5.

Classique

What a fantastic band the Who were. Moon is just fantastic on this. Similar for Townshend's guitar. Daltrey on top form and weaving his magic, The Ox.

The Who are a band I’ve always liked but not loved but seeing them live first at T In The Park then Live Aid I fully appreciate how brilliant they are and this album is as good a showcase for them with Baba O’Riley and Won’t Get Fooled Again 5/5 on their own

Very enjoyable listen. There are a lot of classic songs on this album that I didn’t realise were The Who! Will probably play this again at some point.

Hm..I tried a few times to get into that classic rock stuff. While the stones actually grew on me with "aftermath", I still have some trouble with this one even though I know this record for some time now. Want to give it 3.5, but because of the legendary status and a great memory connected with the who I'll give it 4.

https://youtu.be/I79YNDYrUno

A solid 4 some songs outstay the welcome a bit - but Baba O Reilly! Nuff said

Overall as an album it's not brilliant as there are a few fillers, but there are also some great songs on there. Baba O'Riley is a brilliant opener (and amazing live), Bargain is pretty good but for me the quality drops significantly until we get to Behind Blue Eyes and then the epic Won't Get Fooled Again which is one of the greatest songs of all time.

As the most liked review on this site has already said, this album starts and ends incredibly strong. In between those powerful bookends, Who's Next blends raw energy with more refined experimentation, showing The Who at a transitional point in their sound. Tracks like "Baba O'Riley" and "Won't Get Fooled Again" are iconic for a reason, driven by anthemic choruses and innovative use of synthesizers. While a couple of the mid-album songs may not shine as brightly, they still carry the weight of a band pushing boundaries. It's a record that remains a benchmark for rock music, balancing classic rock riffs with a forward-looking ambition. 4/5

I already know well over half of these tunes, obviously an all time classic, right up my alley. I didn't realize Baba O'Riley was the album opener, gotta be one of the all time greatest album openers. Some of the deep cuts are pretty forgettable, you can tell why they weren't hits and the others were

Classic album, great

Excellent

The hits really carry this. 'Getting in Tune' is pretty awful. 'The Song is Over was a surprise for me - one I'd never heard and enjoyed. 4/5

great album, baba o riley is pretty sick

Three incredibly iconic tracks backed up by a set of tracks that easily hold their weight fantastic album.

Some bops, quite a bit of nothing. 3.5
