Awesome! Loved it. A no skips album honestly. Whenever I listen to the who I can definitely hear some Beatles influence in there which I think is cool. I’d give this record a 4.5 and I’d like to own it for sure!

Probably very important to what i call classic rock. Just a little stale and hard to focus on!
3 great hits surrounding some pretty forgettable songs. This was a similar case to What’s the story but I think what’s the story had much better middle than this. Therefore, 4. Honestly, won’t get fooled again didn’t do as much for me as I remember it doing.
Besides the 3 major bangers on this album, I just thought it was pretty decent. Those 3 songs definitely bump it up to a 4 though. I was expecting this album to have more depth than it did.
Starts off so strong and falls off so hard after that at first I thought this was included only for Baba O’riley. Then we got to the last 3 song run and all 3 of those were fantastic. Tough cause the middle is so meh. Strong 3/5, but could’ve been the strongest EP of all time if it were just those 4 tracks
A classic, Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again are legendary classic/arena rock songs. I also didn't realise until the song started that Behind Blue Eyes was The Who. Learn something new every day.

Three solid hits and an iconic album cover. The record is bookended by two incredible tracks, "Baba O'Riley" and "Won't Get Fooled Again." While a bit slower and more introspective than I originally remember, the overall vibe of this album upon re-listen was greatly needed. A perfectly produced studio album and quite possibly my favorite of The Who. It comes close to greatness, but never truly reaches the upper echelon of a 5 on this rating scale, but this is a definitely a solid 4 ~ 4.5. A great way to end the week on what may go down as one of the weirdest (and shittiest) 5 day listening streaks since starting this list.

I'm still in the same position as before, where The Who just don't leave a huge impression on me despite them being a generally good band, like this album is good and it's iconic songs are really catchy but I don't feel anything for most of the songs (except Bargain, I like that one). Maybe I'm tired or something but The Who's style of hard rock keeps leaving me cold, the organ is a good touch tho.

Lifelong hits
It's an icon for a reason. There's several hits, it flows well, and it has moments that totally hold your attention.
rly weird to think about, or try to talk about, because in many ways this doesnt feel like an album to me at all, and it kinda isnt! its the gutted remains of a far more ambitious project. the actual material is mostly fine...ive never liked the two famous tracks that close it out but everything else ranges from moderately pleasurable to baba o riley, one of the overplayed radio staples ive never felt like ive heard Enough Times. in general i think this is prob the closest that the who came to bridging their ambitious but somewhat sterile studio material with the big raw power they could manage live, and it makes sense as a totemic inflection point in that way. but on the other hand idk, this doesnt hang together v well for me and never rly has, because albums are more to me than just song quality. like i dont like tommy, but i dont think it would be rly improved if u gutted the concept and just pared it down to its most agreeable songs...it kinda has to be what it Is, and i think this is sorta the same way. i might not have loved lighthouse, but its a shame this exists instead of it, yaknow
Hmmmm... Lot of people looking at this through their nostalgic glasses, and that's ok, but I never got into the Who. I'm fifty one years old, so I've had plenty of chances. Baba O'Riley was good, instantly recognisable. Bargain was middling rock. By the time we get to the second hand country rock of Love Ain't for Keeping, I'm bored. Luckily things pick up again for My Wife, but those lyrics... Anyway, not much of not here. I can't look at this through Vaseline covered lenses of nostalgia. I would never listen to this again on purpose. Still not as bad as Morrissey. Two stars.
Banger
This was really good, not the generic “dad rock” I was expecting, it feels really ahead of its time especially in baba o Riley with the marimba organ, also used in some of the others. Favourites: the hits, bargain, love ain’t for keeping, getting in tune and going mobile, pretty much all but 2 which I felt were a bit weaker and not as enjoyable for me. Overral 8/10.
Now that's a classic, one I've absolutely listened to before. Still love Behind Blue Eyes and Won't Get Fooled Again.

I loved a lot of the songs on this album. But then a few of them didn't really click for me. That's my experience with The Who in a nutshell. Still a great album, though.

Maybe this is why I’m so stingy with my ratings, because a 5 needs to be reserved for something this undeniable and incredible. Baba O’Riley > Won’t Get Fooled Again > The Song Is Over > Getting In Tune > Behind Blue Eyes > Love Ain’t For Keeping > My Wife > Going Mobile > Bargain It’s great. Baba O’Riley is such a perfect song. I think a few of the album cuts maybe aren’t as unstoppable as I remember?? Was a delight to revisit, don’t get me wrong. I had a big “The Who” phase like 100 years ago. Maybe my expectations were set too high from that opening track and my nostalgia triggers sparking off. No no no, it’s a FIVE!!! It’s a five-star album! Several perfect songs and no stinkers. The drums. The arrangements. The harmonies. The groovy rockin bluesy riffs that never feel stale. It’s great. It’s a solid 5 rating, as tall as the stone monolith on the cover.

Who's Next scratched that classic rock itch. The Who created extremely good, reliable, energetic rock music throughout their career, but this album is probably The Who at their finest. Several of their biggest hits are on this album. Often I'm already over an artist's top hits at this stage in my life, but there's something about "Won't Get Fooled Again" that's timeless. I didn't realize I knew the song "Bargain," which made for a fun listen. 4.5, but I just don't love it as much as Tommy.
So while I believe that The Who is very deserving of several places on this project, I've questioned a couple of the specific album inclusions; it's definitely resulted in me leaving some average reviews for The Who. That said, a The Who album like this is what I've been waiting for! This album shows off The Who at their prime. Several of their most epic songs are on this album (two of which are the bookends of the album). And even the "less epic" songs on the album are outstanding. This is just an incredibly well-crafted album full of great musicianship. It would probably be the album that, in my opinion, marks when The Who officially cemented themselves in the big leagues, and ultimately as rock legends.
The Who are a band that I remember listening to as a teenager and thinking they were a bit naff (except Pinball Wizard - I always liked that one). Since then, I’ve listened to Tommy in full and it’s great, so today’s album had be optimistic. Thankfully, it is indeed a good album with really nice rock riffs throughout. The better songs do seem to be bookended as a the first and final tracks, but it does remain quite enjoyable throughout. Honestly, I don’t know why I disliked them as a youngster.

10/10 The best 1st song/last song combo I can think of, and what's in between is great too. All the better for not being a rock opera - these are just brilliant songs with no agenda other than to be awesome. Potentially a top 10 all-time favourite. And probably the only Who album that'll get 5stars as they always seem to let themselves down with a few dodgy tracks. But none of that here.
I like this album but I don't love it. There are some real bangers at least a couple have soured for me, especially "Bargain" after having been in those car commercials forever. Also why is it "Baba O'Riley" and not "Teenage Wasteland?"
First listened to this on vinyl back in the 70s. My uncle had the album and we that the cover was so funny. Little did I know then that I was listening to pure genius at work. I knew who The Who was at that point and they became a regular on my radio. From Baba O’Reily to Won’t Get Fooled Again, mix in Bargain and Behind Blue Eyes, you have some of their best work here. This album stands the test pf time. Daltry’s strong lyrics, Townsend’s guitar and keyboards, Entwistle’s bass and keyboards, wrapped up with Moon’s drums make this album legendary! When you hear the starting keyboards on Baba, you know what’s coming next and know it’s going to be epic!
One of the best, most classic albums of all time. Knew most of the songs. Baba O’Riley, behind blue eyes, and won’t get fooled again are so good! I thought I was going to have to devote a couple of hours to this until I realized I can listen to the original album version which is much shorter than the deluxe edition that popped up.

Started off strong and then got less and less noteworthy over time
Opening song was epic. After that there wasn’t much I liked. Getting in Tune was a hard listen. Also the singer often does something, that as someone born in ‘98, I can only describe as a Jack Black yell. It’s not what I’m really looking for in music.

Fantastically complete album from screaming iconic rock to slower cruising tracks, with some of The Who’s best songs.
One star for each of the two good songs. The rest of the album is pretty average.

Not in the mood for this today. Some random dude played a the Who for me on a ride from Pullman to Spokane all 90 minutes, I wasn’t a fan then and I doubt listening to it today will change that.
For a brief while in the late 90s, I played music with a dude who saw The Who as the greatest band ever. I've heard a lot of bands held up as the greatest, The Beatles, The Stones, Sabbath, Zep are common ones. I'd never heard of anyone who thought The Who was the greatest until that point. I can buy the arguments for any of the more commonly named as the greatest, but I don't get the hype for The Who. They're fine as they go. They have some definite bangers, but overall their music is pedestrian and wears on me at album length. This albums inclusion in the 1001 for me is an indicator of the age of the folks who participated in the polls that led to the lists creation. Put simply, this album is terrible. It's boring and predictable and I'm no fan of the sound.

Compared to all the Who albums I’ve listened to, this one seems to be the one where they’ve actually got their shit together. Quite enjoyed it, and not just for the flagship singles.
Compared to the last two Who albums I've listened to on here, this shows their complete transition to arena rock, and I feel they're that much stronger for it - the sound is bigger, the songs more fleshed out, and the listening experience much more enjoyable. There's a couple of staple tracks on here, but the album as a whole still works well around them. Definitely the best Who on here so far, not a doubt.

The first two and the last two are doing a lot of heavy lifting for all those 5 scores. The Who are the ultimate 'just get a Greatest Hits' band for me. Won't Get Fooled Again is irresistible but it is definitely the grand finale at the centrist Dad disco.

Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes and Won't Get Fooled Again are classics... the rest of the album is pretty shit (especially bargain). There's a cheesy vibe that just doesn't work for me. The punk edge of my generation is long gone. That was my opinion when I bought this album at 15 and it's still my opinion now.

Starts of STRONG(as in probably one of their best tunes strong) and ends strong. The middle is kinda middling.
I don’t know if the middle sagged, or if those songs in the middle just suffer from being squeezed between some amazing songs in the opening and closing, but either way, the middle feels lesser than the rest of the album.

Pretty formulaic, but a pretty good formula. Good drums throughout, liked the album intro via the Baba keys. Prefer the slightly less bombastic Quadrophenia overall but I think this still stands up as a good straightforward 70s Rock Record.
Sticking to my rule of only listening to the original format songs is proving a wise move with these meandering 70s reissues. 9 songs. I can do that, even if the album is largely a mediocre borefest, which this is. Quite liked the synths and a few slower tracks (Behind blue eyes is one of my fave Who songs), but I’m concluding that I just don’t like The Who after the single “My Generation”. That’s said, it’s better than a lot of the tripe they released so it scrapes a 3 stars, but I will never play this again as it’s just too self indulgent and dull like much of their “prime era” back catalogue

I’ve never really got on with The Who. As a band they have always felt they’ve tried to cover a few rock subgenres at once, but as a result they never feel like they’re committing to a sound. They’re not heavy or bluesy enough, nor are they psych or art rock enough. They’re have some decent hits like Baba O’Reilly which opens this album, but as a whole they’ve never really clicked into place. This album reflects my feelings of the band, it was alright but didn’t really feel like it was worth a listen.

The Who sounds a little bit like the Beatles, I know it's an English rock band, don't know much about them, not to say that I didn't like them, on the contrary, very pleasant music.
'Who's next' is what I think when most boomer rock comes up on this list. This can stay though. Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again are proper bangers in particular. Love those synthy sounds. Great artwork too.

Instrumentals are good, vocals and lyrics are quite beautiful. Baba O’Reilly is my favorite song by The Who, and Bargain is an excellent follow up track. Ending with Behind Blue Eyes and Won’t Get Fooled Again leaves you haunted.
This is one of the albums they teach on the first day of Classic Rock 101. When you ask your dad, "hey dad, what was classic rock all about?" This is one of the albums that would be bestowed upon you like a crown and scepter. Listen, my son, and learn the ways of your great rock forebears. Truth be told, it's a bit corny in places. But still a 5 all day.
I know a few songs off this album, it does feel awfully lot of an experimental song. Who's Next is a perfect storm of power, innovation, and heart. It's The Who at their most mature, bold, and emotionally complex—a record that both defined and defied its era. It's not just a classic—it's essential.

Ngl, when I saw that this album has been tagged with a "hard-rock" label, I was low key dreading listening to it! But this was surprisingly fun! I liked the bluesy undertones in what I would otherwise call "screamy music". 🙈😅 (The screaming wasn't too bad though!) Hard rock might never be my goto genre but listening to this album has made me excited enough to at least give other music in this genre a chance 😬 Songs that stood out: I actually liked almost all songs, but especially Baba O'riley and Bargain Album rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s great for the three classics contained on it but everything else is very forgettable/filler. It’s carried hard by its 3 hits to a 7/10
Overall: 8/10 This is my favourite album by The Who for the fact that it isn't trying as hard as some of their other albums. It seems they just wanted to rock the hell out for a bit in between the goliaths that are Tommy and Quadrophenia. This is also the only album by The Who that I own on vinyl and that might have a big influence over how I perceive the album. I remember being blown away the first time I listened to it. The keyboard work is so incredible, then you've got Keith and John killing it in the rhythm section. I also think Roger has never sounded better. The middle section of the album isn't mind blowing but it's bookended by four of the band's best songs. I'd also piss on that stupid looking rock. I grew up loving this band and Pete’s guitar work is super unique with the big open chords. That said, I thought the singles and greatest hits were the highlight of this album.
I liked this album more than "Tommy." Unlike the last rock opera, these songs felt complete with versus and choruses and hooks. They each had something that grabbed me. "Baba O'Riley" is an undeniable classic, and a strong start to the album, set the tone moving through the rest for me.
Baba o Riley carries
The Who's one undeniable masterpiece, starting on an incredible high and hardly letting off the gas for the runtime. Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again are great bookends, obviously, but Going Mobile, Bargain, My Wife, The Song is Over, Getting in Tune in the middle are all 10/10 bangers. And that's pretty much the whole album! Anything less than a 5 would be disingenuous.

Letting Townsend and Entwhistle sing lead on a few tracks is the equivalent of the Beatles letting Ringo take a turn at the mic. The Who were just that good at their peak! One of the great “What Ifs“ of rock ‘n’ roll is what would’ve happened if Entwhistle and Moon had joined Led Zeppelin like Jimmy Page wanted. Thankfully, we never will know and we can sit back and enjoy the great music from both of those bands.
Brilliant. The two or three songs that are a tier down from Greatest Hits are still great songs. This is a desert island album.
I've always been a Greatest Hits-level fan of the Who. Not sure that I've ever listened to this album in its entirety. 5* for Baba, Blue Eyes and Fooled Again alone. Rest of the album is solid, as well. Lyrics to Won't Get Fooled Again are damn near perfect, but I sure do wish they didn't apply so well to the present, 54 years later.
In my view Who’s Next is the most consistently strong track wise of The Who’s albums. Tommy is still my overall favourite album of theirs with this following close. Behind Blue Eyes is my favourite track.

The Who are definitely one of the best bands to come out of the psych/prog rock scene in the late 60s and early 70s. And this is definitely one of their best albums, just all around doing everything right and having so many great and consistent moments.
Some good songs on there, but these guys really need to learn how to edit and cut songs down.
So so very good. The great tunes just keep coming. The remastered version was just too much/too long.

En ole hirveästi The Whota kuunnellut mutta ei kyllä jäänyt epäselväksi mistä monet rokkilegendat ovat vaikutteita ammentaneet. Laaturokkia monella pienellä silloin varmasti uudenuutukaisella twistillä!
"Baba O'Reilly" is a great song. A classic for a reason. And of course "Behind Blue Eyes, and "Won't Get Fooled Again" have stood the test of time. They're not for me, but they are known. I was hoping that the deep cuts would bring me something hidden and fun, but they are mostly forgettable.
It's about time! This merits 4.5-5 stars for sure. This album was all over the radio in the 70's and 80's and still gets a ton of airplay. HUGE hits like "Baba O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Bargain", "Behind Blue Eyes" and glue tracks like "The Song Is Over", "Getting In Tune" and "Going Mobile" all got air time. 8 out of 9 tracks ("My Wife", still a good song) get on the radio, that's just flat out impressive. This is a good portion of any Who greatest hits album! No denying it, whether you're a fan of The Who or even classic rock, this album is stacked and has the sales, the airtime, the longevity, the influence and the hits you expect from a Top 1001 album. After listening this is a solid 5 because of everything I mentioned above.

Who's Next...is exactly what I was looking forward to while listening to this grossly overrated album. I have never been a Who guy, nothing about their music ever really hit me or seemed to warrant the high esteem they are placed in alongside other genuinely legendary rock bands of their time. This is not to say that I don't think that as individuals they are truly gifted musicians and that on paper they have an incredible line up of talent, however to me they do not equal the sum of their parts. This album is a perfect example of this, while certainly containing a few great songs (yes two that are iconic), I fail to hear what is so special about the body of work as a whole. What am I missing here?? Understanding the track list was made up of salvaged songs from the abandoned Lifehouse project that was meant to be a rock opera follow up to Tommy, the songs don't flow well together and feel like a mashup of scattered ideas. One of the best album starts I've ever heard. It also finishes really strong, but the middle section lags behind somewhat in the in comparison. Nevertheless, those are some iconic sounds and singles, and although it's not quite my cup of tea, I have to respect that this album dates back to 1971 and still holds up to this day.

Some classics and some drags.
I've long argued that song for song, this is the greatest album of the rock era. This is obviously a subjective judgement, but break breaking it down by track makes it hard to argue, I'd say. It includes three all-time classics in "Baba O'Riley," "Behind Blue Eyes," and "Won't Get Fooled Again." It's "middle three" tracks, quality-wise--"Bargain," "Love Ain't for Keeping," and "Getting in Tune"--would almost certainly be the top songs on about 90% of the albums ever released. And even it's "bottom tier" is a terrific mix of tracks, with "My Wife," "The Song Is Over," and "Going Mobile." There is absolutely no filler here! This is my go-to for solid greatness all the way through! It gets five stars only because I can't give it six.

I don’t know if you can start an album stronger than Baba O’Riley, and the finish is so good, but the album tracks are a bit anonymous.
Baba o Riley starts the album off incredibly strongly, and for a while after that it feels like it fails to deliver. Not sure if this is because the opener is so strong or the album is weak. By the time you're finished, it feels like a good album again though. 6/10
I can actually remember the first time I heard this album. I was in my teens and popped Dad's copy of the LP on his turntable. The cover had struck me, I knew The Who had great singles and Dad had definitely mentioned that this was an excellent album. As good as their singles are, I was not prepared for this full 43 and a half minutes of greatness. Baba O'Riley has to be one of the most distinctive and brilliant rock songs ever created. I remember how much I wanted to create something that sounded like it, but somehow, circa 2000, I had no idea how to make sounds like I was hearing on this record from 1971. As I understand it, the idea behind Who's Next started as a concept album, lost its way and became a bit of a plan-b. Well, thank the gods of rock for this busted flush as it flows beautifully, doesn't have a bad track and manages to get the blend and balance of soft, upbeat, poetic, angry and emotionally charged, exactly right. I was so happy on the day Dad replaced his LP for a shiny new remastered CD, as it now sits in my collection so I can relive that afternoon again and again on my own turntable.
I agree with what's been said elsewhere on reviews - some stand out tracks to start and finish with some fairly middle of the road offerings between.
Goated Album
This is peak hard rock. The Who truly had their style, and they did it with fantastic musicality. A play off the epic Lifehouse, Townshend’s song writing masterfully accentuates every members’ strengths - not only, but it sounds like they’re having fun. Every song screams energy, and this is by far Moon’s best playing (Quadrophenia is a close second.) This is a classic through and through, and I hope it’s seen that way for generations to come.
Their best album. Hands down. One of the most exceptional albums ever produced, even though it was not the direction they had intended.

3 - these guys are too inconsistent to get a biopic I guess. Most of it was mostly alright with three pretty standout exceptions. Also didn’t know behind blue eyes originated from the who

This is an excellent album. It has three of The Who's best songs: Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, and Won't Get Fooled Again, but really there's not a bad track on here. This will stay in heavy rotation.
It's pretty good but a bit basic. It's not as energetic or riff-driven as hard rock tends to be, but despite that being the main reason I like the genre in the first place, Who's Next is never boring. It's just doesn't do anything unique or that exciting. 7/10
Honestly was a little disappointed at first, I thought I would like this album more. Don't get me wrong, it was still good, but I was expecting to be a big fan and I just wasn't. I'm not even sure what it was about it. My favourites were probably the slower songs from around the middle of the album.
The bass is bassing here, the drums banging, the guitar fully rocking, and the voice? YEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH!

I've heard these songs so many times on the radio that I typically don't seek them out anymore, but listening to this whole from start to finish made me feel like this was a masterpiece.

This album was so good that I listened to the whole stupid deluxe edition, which was 2+ hours of what was supposed to be a 30-40 minute album, essentially repeating every track 4 times.
Absolutely cracking opener and closer, and although nothing in between is quite as good, they're still good enough to be decent listening and the standout tracks earn it a four. Also, the drumming here is top notch.

I never really got into the mainstream rock stuff. I guess I just found it kinda boring compared to the post/prog metal stuff I prefer. That, or I was just too lazy to try it. Probably both. Anyways, Who's Next changed my mind on rock. Two tracks in, I wasn't too impressed. It was probably on track for a 6.8/10 or something. But then I got into it a little more. Still not the greatest thing I'd ever heard, but I was grooving. Then Behind Blue Eyes came on, and oh my god, that was all I needed to truly fall in love. Whenever I listen to an album, it often takes a really really good song to truly hook me on it and convince me to love the rest of the album, and Behind Blue Eyes was what did that for me. I haven't relistened to the album yet, but I can tell I'm gonna have a good time doing so.
Excellent album. I don't really know what else to say.

This is the forty sixth album I’m rating. I’ve heard some good things about the band. I think that I’ve listened to one song but I might’ve listened to none. Adding to my Playlist - Baba O’Riley, Bargain, Love Ain’t For Keeping, My Wife, The Song Is Over, Getting In Tune, Going Mobile, Behind Blue Eyes, and Won’t Get Fooled Again. Not Adding to my Playlist - Nothing. All in all I liked 9/9 songs. This was a great classic rock albums but below Can’t Buy a Thrill by Steely Dan for me.

Every song that isn't something I've already heard a billion times is boring as fuck.
I’m not even the biggest Who fan, but this album rules. Everything seemingly holds up after 54 years. I love that they hit you with a punch right out of the gates with Baba O’Reilly. It feels like one of the best opening tracks anyone could have ever selected for an album. There’s a few more decent rock numbers, highlighting each member’s talents as well. Going to the ballad of Behind Blue Eyes then immediately kicking your ass again with Won’t Get Fooled Again to close it all out feels like you’re getting a perfect live music experience and they’re sending you home on a high note wanting more. Anyways, fantastic record. 9 songs filled with emotional highs and lows and nothing that feels like it’s going on too long. God, Keith Moon was so good.
An album that absolutely should be a mess considering the backstory but wound up being pretty great. It was near impossible for The Who to follow Tommy, though Townsend had an even bigger concept album planned in Life House. They recorded a ton of the songs live, kept pushing, Pete had a nervous breakdown, the band tried to pick up and recover, and somehow put something together from the ashes. “Baba O’Riley” is still maybe the greatest opener in rock history, an instant anthem for the teenage wasteland. Other standout hits include “Behind Blue Eyes” (accept no substitutes) and “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” but “Getting in Tune”, “My Wife” and “The Bargain” are classics too. Still, they left off some of the greatest songs like “Water”, “Pure and Easy”, and “The Seeker” to emerge as one off singles or rarities later. Daltrey is in peak vocal form here, with some of his best singing. Entwistle is as grooving and brilliant on base as ever, and Keith Moon is able to take his madcap energy to different anthemic moments just as well as the rockers he’s been playing to this point. If there’s any weak link, it’s Townsend, who sounds every bit as strung out as he was in real life. Only in the highest moments of “Baba O’Riley” and in the powerful thrumming of “Won’t Get Fooled Again” do we really hear his signature sound. They’d peak one last time after this with the mod opera Quadrophenia, but this was a band in crisis, and out of it made a hell of an album. It’s just not their best.
the who have always seemed like a band you're supposed to like when you're a rock musician & especially when you're a drummer- nobody tell my dad but i'm just not that into it. i can appreciate their individual skill but outside of the bookends there isn't much on here for me. what happened to writing garage rock adjacent bangers Mr. The Who? i don't think it's a coincidence that the Hits album came sandwiched between rock operas right after they told everybody they sold out i'm just going to enjoy that sick violin solo & be grateful it isn't Tommy instead
The Who is one of those bands I've heard about and know the name of because it seems like everyone has heard of them. And I've for sure heard at least the riff from 'Baba O'Riley' and the scream from 'Won't Get Fooled Again'. I've heard 'Behind Blue Eyes' before, but I think I might only have heard the Limp Bizkit cover. All in all there's some interesting things going on here, and a lot of it I very easy to consume so I could see myself listen to it again Standout Baba O'Riley Behind Blue Eyes Won't Get Fooled Again 4/5
America's dads all agree: This album rocks.
No doubt this album is a rock classic. Super influential album with a lot of fans, however I may not be one. My favorite songs are the first track and then the last 3 tracks. All 4 of those songs are awesome and super memorable. That’s the problem, the meat of this album the middle three albums are just so meh. Sadly forgettable, I do think this album is worth listening to in its entirety. I just don’t think I personally care for anything other than those few songs.

Can definitely tell that it was once part of a concept album, or rock opera as there is a lot of story structure in the songs. I was also glad to know that making meta-commentary in music was popular in the early 70s as well. I will say that Keith Moon is one hell of a drummer.
There's some great songs on this album, but honestly also some forgettable ones. Personally, I love The Who and they have some great tracks/singles. But the album as a whole I think only deserves a 3

Not looking at the track list going into this one, I was fully prepared for there to be at least a few throwaway songs. It was the 70s, the Who had just done Tommy and would soon do Quadrophenia, which are both maximalist to absurd degree, you gotta figure some of that is gonna bleed through here. Nope! Three bangers, a great ballad, the first/only good John Entwistle song, a couple of solid album tracks, and the soundtrack to the most memorable Nissan commercial of our youths.

Incredibly impressive performances by the artists here only to be bogged down by their own success. Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes, and Won't Get Fooled Again are so over played and cemented as "dad rock" that it can be hard to appreciate the drums, piano, and guitars that rock all over this album. I really liked some of the lesser known songs here, like My Wife and The Song is Over, but there is no denying that the hits here really are hits.

solid record opening is huge, closer is also huge. everything in between pretty consistently rocks hard. ballads aren’t too corny. not CRAZY about the pete led songs, but they’re still pretty decent. 7.5/10

Without question the best Who album track-for-track. It's bookended by classic songs such as Baba O'Riley, Bargain, Behind Blue Eyes, and Won't Get Fooled Again (shoutout to CSI for using this as the theme song). Baba O'Riley is arguably one of the best openers on an album ever. It helps that it's my favorite song by The Who. The middle stuff is less known but still plenty good. I enjoy the 3-song stretch between My Wife and Getting In Tune. This is a classic rock staple album, likely a top-10 or even top-5 album of the genre for me. Pretty easy 5.
