Neil Young
4/5
Had a couple of other Neil Young albums through this and wasn’t that impressed - thought this was good though - Harvest is a great track
The The
3/5
Wasn’t really familiar with any of their stuff, but ok
Elvis Presley
4/5
A decent listen - I prefer his slightly later stuff, but this is lively simple music and lyrics and a great voice.
Beastie Boys
3/5
Decent enough - good fun, torn between 3 and 4 stars - given I wouldn’t really look to dig it out to listen again gone 3
Dizzee Rascal
2/5
Found it a bit monotonous - had enjoyed the album with bonkers on, but this did little for me
Rush
2/5
The worst kind of music genre - soft rock beige bilge
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Pretty decent enjoyed. Only really knew Brown Sugar and Wild Horses and whilst they were the standouts it was generally strong
Orange Juice
3/5
RIP it up is a classic - the rest fine, but no other standout tracks
Supergrass
4/5
Really good album - hard to decide between 4 and 5 - hits great - errred on side of a 4, but very much a 8.5/9 out of 10
The KLF
3/5
Decent - really like the big hit justified and ancient - the rest not bad.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Decent, bluesy - Gimme Shelter and Midnight Rambler classics and a country version of honky tonk woman
Belle & Sebastian
3/5
Not really heard much from them before, but a very atmospheric and pleasant listen - really enjoyed it
Lenny Kravitz
3/5
Ok - a couple of decent songs, but generally a bit too beige rock for me to really get into
Pink Floyd
4/5
It’s what I think of when people refer to a concept album - some great tracks - comfortably numb one of the all time classics.
Some of it felt almost like a musical “Trial” had shades of Les Miserables
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
4/5
If it’s time, but good fun - a couple of unexpected covers and the obvious hits.
The Replacements
3/5
Ok, but nothing special - missed why it is seen as a great album
Mariah Carey
3/5
I guess she has a decent voice, but it’s all a bit naff for my liking - not proper Aretha, Ela soul, more generic R&B
The Beach Boys
3/5
Bit more mellow and experimental/hippy (possibly not quite the right word (maybe not pc these days either??)) than the sound you (I certainly do) associate with the Beach Boys (Pet Sounds being the classic example) quite enjoyed.
Depeche Mode
3/5
Decent enough - not really my kind of thing, but enjoyed, quite mournful sounding
The Undertones
3/5
Cool punky late 70s sound
Linkin Park
3/5
A bit teen angst rock, but enjoyable
The Human League
4/5
Excellent album - two/three real stand outs plus the big hit - Don’t you want me - really torn, but gone 4
808 State
3/5
Ok - not my sort of thing, but perfectly listenable
The Cramps
3/5
Decent enough - nothing massively grabbed me - might need to revisit
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
Great album - Thunder Road a classic and Born to Run a fantastic anthem as well - probably my favourite Boss album hard choice between 4 and 5!
Jeff Buckley
3/5
His version of Hallelujah arguably the best - rest of album ok - particularly liked the last track Forget Her
Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
3/5
Lovely vibrant music - on the basis I’m not a dancer it makes pleasant background music
Beastie Boys
3/5
Decent enough for this kind of thing feels a bit dated these days, but quite enjoyed
Pavement
3/5
Ok - just nothing particularly exceptional about it - perfectly fine, but not sure why in the 1001
Sisters Of Mercy
2/5
Goth rock - not my thing. Ok I guess - found a little dull to be honest
