Not the biggest fan, but not bad.
Never heard this before, listened about three times and it grew on me every listen.
Love the title track. The cars... Stevie nicks... Men at work...
It's possible that I've heard music from Mylo before, but I can't say for sure. Destroy Rock & Roll was all new music for me. Sometimes I listen to some generic synthwave music to play as background noise to get me through the work day. This album felt very synthwave, and relatively generic. Most of the album was okay, but around the title track my individual track ratings were dipping in to the 2 star range. I did mark the opening and closing tracks ("Valley of the Dolls" and "Emotion 98.6") as tracks to come back to. I'll let the start and end keep the album afloat in the 3 star range (after rounding).

This whole album felt like I left a PS2 snowboarding game on the lobby screen for 55 minutes. It wasn't as grading as some electronic music but it's still the lowest form of music....

I was surprised to like it so much - it's definitely not something I'd have picked up if it wasn't for this list. But I really liked it, especially the more downtempo parts in the beginning and ending. Tracks such as Valley of the Dolls, Sunworshipper, Zenophile, Need You Tonite, Emotion 98.6 gave me a nice dancey vibe with a bit of nostalgia which suits this early autumn weather just perfectly. At times sounded a lot like Royskopp, which is perfectly fine with me. Drop the Pressure is pure fun. 4.0/5, will definitely be going back to this one
Mylo please don’t destroy rock and roll, destroy another genre instead with you’re mellow arse generic beats. I assume (from messing around on garage band) that electronic house music is much more fun to make than rock and roll but for the listener ( well me anyway) it just comes across as boring background “study music”. I don’t like these craftwerky daft punky robot albums it really doesn’t appeal to me so there’s no chance that i’am going to give this a high score (sorry I’ve tried but they’ll never work on me for the foreseeable future). Every song to me just feels like they’ve placed a beat down add a slower moments and repeat the same line 100 and something times. The only track I find notable is the title track because I feel so bad for duran duran and I wanna now destroy mylo and house music, oh well I guess I have to punish you with a 1/5 for that behaviour.
Not my style I guess. The record feels like a very cheap version of Daft Punk but without any of the experimentation or funkiness that made Daft Punk so infectious and excellent. Most songs feel bland and overall the production sounds boring. The album is almost an hour long but somehow it feels so much longer and just really seems to drag on. It reminds me of elevator music at points. Favorite Track: Sunworshiper Least Favorite Track: Drop the Pressure, Musclecars
Solid electronic music. I liked the choice of samples, especially Bette Davis Eyes. Will have to listen to his BBC Essential Mix.

I'm surprised just how much I like this. I normally despise house music. This is just chill enough for me, probably those soft rock samples. Like most house music it does have really good bass synths they manage to not be overwhelming which tends to be a rarity in house. The rest of the synths find a somewhat peaceful balance too, again a rarity. It is a very very rare day when something listed as house or electronica gets higher than a two from me. The titular track is just weird, funny but very weird. Quite a few good names there (though some pronounced horribly wrong). Not sure I love that with the title itself makes me concerned. Though after reading the Wiki page about the song those both make so much more sense. But anytime you name drop my hometowns most famous band I'll like it. I have to be an REO fan by law. Though this being on the list and none of theirs being here should be against that law.

This was far better than I expected.
It's got a good beat and you can dance to it I guess. Mostly generic club music (this coming from someone who hasn't set foot in a dance club since, I don't know, the mid 90s?) and that's fine but not always my thing. I like the songs with the fundamentalist Christian fascist guy rattling off the 80s musical artists and the woman naming cars, respectfully. Other than the occasional sample I recognize, nothing really stands out here.
First couple tracks are excellent focus music. After that the album switches gears into some forgettable house music. Sometimes repeats samples too many times in irritating ways
Ehhh... for such a lofty title it's got a lot of lifting to do although the title refers to the track that just lists rock and roll bands that are damned to hell (which is my favourite track). The problem I find with a lot of electronica / house / techno / EDM on this list is that since I am an active house dancer and club goer, I hear really fucking good EDM all the time which blows this crap outta the water. 2.5/5
Album was pretty hit or miss, some tracks were super boring, some were jams.
amazing, brilliant, spectacular, show stopping, completely not ever been done before - it’s been so lonely this week. I wonder if it’ll stay this way or if i’ll just have to suck it up this year :/
08/24/2022 This album was sooo fun and truly exceeded my expectations. It’s wild that this album is almost 20 years old, but some of the songs sound insanely modern (looking at you sunworshipper). Also I could immediately envision the gays throwing it back at Heat nightclub for a song like Drop the Pressure. I listened to this album while I was working in studio today and couldn’t stop bopping my lil head!!! It does get a bit repetitive and lackluster toward the end, but I will definitely be listening to this album again. — Today was great! We presented our models assigned earlier this week and one of my classmates said that mine were the most well crafted in front of the entire class, I was SHOOK. But yeah, I whipped out some drawings really fast and then attended the school’s back to school party and talked to lots of thesis students who were all very nice. I went to my landscape architecture class and DIED bc it was outside and it was humid and hot ASFFFFF, however we got to go into this mini museum installation on campus about things that thrive through human contact but have grown out of human control. 9am class tomorrow morning, still need to read. Good night <3

This takes me back to the CSU uni bar in 2004. A few tracks try crooked rolls and beats, but overall pretty fun. Best tracks Drop the pressure , Sunworshipper, In My Arms
Decent background music, really, really retarded title.
To me, DJ Music always seems so... light and inconsequential. I put it on and listen to the whole album, and not even notice when it's over. There's nothing ever profound there. It's music to take some E to, get out on the dance floor and have a good time. Like, who cares if it's the UK version of the album or not, where they had to re-record tracks because of sampling? No one goes to a rave and listens THAT closely. "Ohhhhh, listen to the beat, they used THIS kind of drum machine instead of THIS kind." You're listening for that BOOM BOOM BOOM to bump and grind, get blitzed to and have some kind of communal, dance experience. So deep listening to this is almost impossible. And giving it a high rating is almost impossible too. It's the fast food of music, it will satisfy, but will you really remember it afterwards?
Electronica/house just sounds so unimportant. If a DJ dropped a beat in a forest would anyone give a shit? Mylo has some skill in making his mash-ups not sound like complete garbage, and as a music & trivia fan I like trying to figure out what songs are being sampled when he does a good job of rethinking them. But mostly I'm bored. Finally found a beat worth paying attention to in song 3 (Musclecars, sounded like Situation by Yaz) and the next one (Drop the Pressure) was probably the best on the album (I was bopping along). In My Arms was an okay mash-up and Guilty of Love was worse. Paris Four Hundred had a decent beat. And then it got bad again. The title track was just stupid and Rikki was super annoying with its skipping sound. Otto's Journey wasn't bad (just repetitive) but I was mostly bored again for the final five tracks. I was thinking maybe a 3 but the second half of the album was almost entirely forgettable.
So far this book hasn’t done a good job at picking electronic music that I need to hear before I die. I read the wiki stuff about this album and I’m assuming that this was picked because it was Mylo’s debut album, and it was all written on his computer at home. Some of the tracks were okay. I liked “Valley of the Dolls”, “Paris Four Hundred” Most of this stuff was so repetitive that there was a point where I thought my CD was skipping but then I remembered that I was listening on Spotify. I don’t think this album succeeded in it’s attempt at destroying rock & roll, but it certainly hurt electronic music. This came out the same year as Squarepusher’s Ultravisitor album. One of the best electronic albums ever made and neither that album nor any of Squarepusher’s albums are on the list. Go figure. This gets a 2 since I was just waiting for it to end through most of my listen.

Good, soothing ambient music.
Feel like I've heard these songs in some shape or form over the years. Really love Sunworshipper which I first heard on a Ministry of Sound Chillout Sessions album in 2007.
My first thought was who the fuck is Mylo, never heard of 'em! But it turns out I've heard "Drop the Pressure" dozens of times and always assumed it was a Daft Punk tune. I guess that's where this album sits? About half way between Daft Punk and Röyksopp? Hmmm, I'd probably give this 3.5 stars if I could, but I'm in a good mood so will round up. Fave track - "Drop the Pressure", I guess. It's the main banger...

This is the first and only album from DJ Mylo. It's house music that DJ Mylo made by sampling soft rock songs from his childhood in the 70's and 80's. Because of this, it's a unique album that many people liked. This album was fun to listen to, but I wouldn't say the title is correct - it didn't destroy rock & roll.
Absolutely fantastic - I have his 2005 essential mix which I still play to death... and yet, somehow never actually listened to this brilliant album. Which I have since ordered.

Surprisingly nice working vibes!
Again, hats off to this project for introducing me to music I'd otherwise never hear. This one is quite a departure from most of the music I've listened to, and I really enjoyed it. I don't know much about this genre and how the production process works to make it, but the end result is engaging and catchy. Some really great beats throughout. Fun stuff.

Pleasant but not challenging. This has been done better before (Daft Punk and Chemical Bros) so do we need to listen to it all again? This Mylo is SUPER clever so why he decided to devote himelf to being a DJ is beyond me.

I really enjoyed this one. Never heard of it before but recently started playing drums and this is exactly the kind of album I enjoy playing to. Heavy emphasis on rhythm and bass with pleasant melodies.
I enjoyed this album. Quite a variety of feels throughout. Sometimes reminiscent of older Daft Punk, sometimes had more of a Portishead feel. Not perfect start to finish, but would definitely listen again.

Part RJD2, part Daft Punk, Part 2ManyDJs, part Boards of Canada, Mylo's sole album is solid entry overall in the IDM/house/electronica genre. The first two tracks are enticing and mellow, the ones that follow ("Muscle Cars", "Drop the Pressure" and "In My Arms") are absolute dancefloor bangers, and the rest of the album flows neatly from one song to the next. A special mention should go out to the title track, with its hilarious sample of a Christian fundamentalist's rant here turned on its head to become a celebration of everything that gathers us all here on this very app. That some music fans in this group can't understand that *Destroy Rock & Roll* is first and foremost an ironic title--or pretend not to understand it--is baffling to me (see some of those 1/5 reviews at the bottom of the page). Some people *do* have a very short attention span, don't they? Well... Listening to one album a day is an arduous process, i'll give them that... :) That being said, that *one* review claiming this music is the sort of of stuff you hear while you're on hold on the phone might *also* have a point, and it made me laugh, I admit it. It's indeed probable that the album's beats and grooves sound a little dated to some ears today. Yet one could argue that there are still enough little touches here and there to make such sound timeless in its own special way (vocal samples, funky basslines, vocoder-tinged vocals, ambient layers, etc.). On a side note, it must also be pointed out that *Destroy Rock & Roll* foretold the mash-up craze of the mid-aughts. I don't know if we can *really* thank Mylo for that (that craze deflated pretty quickly, and this for good reasons), but there's no arguing he was ahead of the curve when he released that first album of his. *Destroy Rock & Roll*, might not be an essential listen for some, but to me it still deserves its four stars, if only for this--not to mention the fact that the record displays richness, inventivity and, most of all, a very solid list of tracks. Indifferent on this one. Nothing struck me as interesting or catchy about it.
I didn't really like it all that much, apart from a couple of songs that had famous samples of songs I do love. And the title track, that was very interesting. Might be one of the most interesting songs I've come across in a long time.

Some standout hooks and beats, and nice steady flow in the mid-tempo range, but like much else in this genre, it gets a little samey and stale, and the tech sounds dated.
Someone else has said in here that they’ve already heard this album every time they’re on hold, which is accurate. Also you you what, it’s pretty good! What’s wild is this album came out in 2004 and had a remaster in 2005. I guess it’s because it didn’t come out in North America for a bit.

A very enjoyable start. Valley of the Dolls is meh, but Sunworshipper is good fun, Muscle Cars is atmospheric, Drop the Pressure is an absolute TUNE and In My Arms is actually more enjoyable than its sample source. A rarity, the back end of the album is actually better! Destroy Rock and Roll was a favourite back in the day, but it gets glitchier and a bit more disco towards the back and all of it is really enjoyable. A really strong album. House for those who don't normally house!
Rating reflect that this is forever the sountrack to sunny days on the grass at university sitting with my first love having fun. Sunny, light music, with an excellent religious nutjob sample.

Dit album begon goed. Tot track 8 - de titeltrack. Die dreef me echt tot waanzin! En alles wat daarna kwam kon me toen ook niet meer zo bekoren. Maar voor de eerste 7 tracks dus toch nog wel een dikke voldoende.

This album is bookended by some very nice songs, but in the middle Mylo disappears up his own asshole. Good for making playlists, but not for sitting down and listening for an hour, as that's liable to drive one insane. Best track: Emotion 98.6

The worst sort of one finger synth drag-and-drop pop. All the best bits have been sampled from other songs. Rock & Roll is safe.
70's and 80's soft rock sampled into electronic/House music. Hard to imagine a worse fit for me. Listened to about 5 songs and realized there was no point in going farther. Life is too short for this record. Even if you like this style of music, this seems bland. Hard to imagine this being a record worthy of anyone's time before they die.

Ihan okei konemusalevy. Ainahan nämä alkavat loppua kohden puuduttaa, mutta tässä mielenkiinto ja pieni jamittelu kestivät aika pitkään. Ei ollut ihan pelkkää monotonista jumputusta. Levyltä jäi mieleen kappale, jossa listailtiin eri bändien ja artistien nimiä.
Ensikuuntelun alkuvaiheilla tämä vaikutti aika lupaavalta tanssilevyltä. Hieman samaa tyyliä kuin aiemmin listalla olleilla Chemical Brothersilla ja Daft Punkilla, mutta vähemmän rasittavan kuuloisena. Valitettavasti alkuhuuma oli kuitenkin ohimenevää ja negatiiviset fiiliset alkoivat hiipimään takavasemmalta. Lopulta taso valahti sinne peruskakkosen maastoon.

9th September 2021 Listened in the gym and in the evening had a surprise birthday at rowan's. Perfectly timed listening to this in the gym by sheer accident. Got some old school bangers on it and got the body pumping!

Another mostly instrumental house album. Most notable are the few tracks that wouldn't be out of place in a chiptune game soundtrack, and inexplicable lists for lyrics (rockers, cars).
What an absolute fucking ripper. Have heard Drop the Pressure 1,000,000 times before on dance floors but so good to hear it in the context of its album. Has all the best elements of Sneaky Sound System, Pnau and Groove Armada. Improved my mood a lot after listening.
Some pretty enjoyable tracks, they all sort of run together though. I don't love electronic music that has no words, because of that reason. This was actually pretty fun to listen to, but I didn't save any songs for whatever reason.
Is this lo-fi to improve my focus during the work/study routine from Youtube? It's nice to listen to these things that are the origins of the modern trending, but it's still not my style of music. 2 or 3 songs are nice to listen to.
House. Está bastante bien...
A nice blend of sounds, and though it's more than 15 years since its release, it feels relevant this days. I've heard some of the songs on those youtube videos to study and chill.

I would be happy dying before listening to this album. I don't know why it was included and while I'm not much into electronic, I've heard plenty that would fit perfectly on a list of albums to listen to before I die. Bonus, if I'm ever asked for recommendations on music to play while on hold with customer service, this will surely come to mind.

This is ahead of its time and the apt evolution of pop music skewing away from rock. It’s sad in retrospect but these beats are the start of edm.

I kinda love this. Funky, heavy beat, alternately relaxing and hype-up music...it's like smooth jazz had sex with a keyboard and I am all about it.

Un álbum de electro house adictivo. El ligero pero solido debut de Mylo no decepciona. Desde los momentos más downtempo hasta los más funky nos encontramos con tracks memorables pero por sobre todo atractivos, lo que lo hace de este un álbum de electrónica muy accesible para cualquiera. Para mí un sólido 7/10

El primer género musical que escuché en mi vida es "la marcha" jajajaja nótese la edad. La música electrónica en cualquiera de sus derivados y géneros me parece espectacular y siempre la voy a armar. Este disco es simplemente precioso. Drop the Pressure es mega conocida, más allá de los obvios 13M de reproducciones que indica Spotify pero in "My Arms" también es espectacular. Tiene el sample del tema "Bette Davis Eyes" de Kim Carnes muy a la vista y es precioso. Lo escucharé nuevamente. 8,5/10 ludomatics.

Creo que es el primer disco de todos los que llevamos que no habia escuchado. Si bien el disco no me parece MALO, siento que peca de ser un producto parecido a todos los que salian en los post 2000. Ese genero electrosynthpop de cafetería que fué mutando hasta terminar en canciones que le ponen a la nena esa que no termina nunca el trabajo practivo y le ponen "lo-fi music to armar un partido y ganar las elecciones to". El disco en su propio merito está bien, aunque no lo volvería a escuchar. Todo va donde tiene que ir y no se arriesga a nada. Es mas, el primer tema es tan blando y generico que se parece a una intro de un sketch de Les Luthiers. Despues va mejorando y peakea en Drop the Preassure que es como el tema que todos tenemos escuchado y no sabiamos de donde venia. Es el tipico disco de playa que escuchaste un verano y te olvidaste que existia. Que se yo... Está en la misma lista que discos de Nina Simone o Led Zeppelin, durisimo. Es un premio consuelo.
Me gustó mucho. Algunos temas me hicieron acordar a Royksopp y la voz digitalizada de "Drop the pressure" me hizo acordar a Daft Punk. Este es el tipo de album que usaría para programar: es fácil de escuchar, no distrae mucho y está bueno. Es muy difícil lograr ese balance: que sea una canción que pueda quedar de fondo y que no aburra al mismo tiempo. Voy a escuchar este album seguido. Bienvenido Mylo a mi vida. 4/5
It's nice, very pleasent electronic music, but a lot of it seems relatively simple -"Drop The Pressure" was the first track to stand out -"Destroy Rock & Roll" is cool

Devo dire che i pezzi che mi sono piaciuti di più sono stati gli ultimi comunque in particolare le 05' Version ma magari è una coincidenza, dovrei sentire gli originali.
il povero mylo ha fatto un disco prendendo un pò tutti i trend di quel periodo e ne esce un disco senza personalità e noioso. Questa è la colonna perfetta per un negozio di vestiti a porta di roma.

From the first track, I loved the sound. Wild smooth samples and if you like lo: fi Hiphop / Trip hop, House, delicious solos, nostalgic beats and electronic music from the beginning 2000, then this album is one you must hear. You probably know Drop the pressure, but this album can do a lot more than that.
This scratches a very particular itch. How have I never heard this. An absolute gem of electronic songs. I love it.

Kinda electronic dance. Not all tracks tho. Dr Pressure a classic. 2nd track was cool chill down tempo. In My Arms another big tube. Had no idea who this guy was or that he was responsible for these tunes. Some Chemical Brothers electronic battle weapon vibes. really enjoyed it. 4/5

In 2009 I spent a decent amount of musical bandwidth trying to understand electronic music.I especially wanted to "get" techno and tap into the weird joy that stoic Germans experience after dancing for 2 days straight in an abandoned East Berlin factory, but I never got in. House music, though, was much easier to feel. I loved today's album. It's fun as hell. Not at all challenging. Very standing desk dancable. Production is bright and welcoming. It's easy to anticipate the loud-soft transitions - you already know where each track is going even when hearing it for the first time. It all seems very connected to some natural inner programming. Does a truly great album have to challenge the listener? Can consistent good vibes dance music be considered great? Why the hell not. B+
Try as he might, Mykonos cannot and did not destroy rock and roll with this album. I’m glad I waited until today to listen to it, had I listened yesterday, when I was hungover, it might’ve killed me. This wasn’t bad. Pretty good actually, lots of nice upbeat, poppy, major cord loops. Just found it repetitive, like most electronic music, which isn’t my bag. That hook has to be sooo good, Daft Punk or Prodigy level good, for me to buy in. This was just okay. Faded into the background for me. The song with the repeated list of musicians was the final nail in the coffin for me, and then there was 10 more songs.
Very reminiscent of my brother's criminally brief foray into techno. He produced one album under the moniker Captain Chad, which charted at #1 on mp3.com in the late 90s. Predictable, simple, but I keep finding my butt cheeks dancing to the beat in my seat. Feels surprising to me that this made the list, but it's still better than Anthrax.

Wasn't sure about this one at first but it grew on me. Knew 2 or 3 songs which turned out to be my least favourites. Prefer the more chilled ones towards the back end.

I didn't anticipate this sound from the title. Very mellow and listened to this while in a very dark place. It helped with optimism a little.
+ Valley of the Dolls, Drop the Pressure, In My Arms, Guilty of Love - Sunworshipper, Destroy Rock & Roll Chill and suave, relaxing, good for concentration, until it isn't...Some of the tracks feature spoken samples that are repeated OVER AND OVER ("Missing Persons, Duran Duran")...This might be acceptable in early electronic music where voice samples were a novelty, but this album is from 2004 where they have no excuse for it.

It's now been almost two months since the last 5 I've given in the list. I've been bombarded with some very forgetful music since (not all of it of course) so I wasn't expecting much from this one but it has stopped me on my tracks. This is awesome music, I can't believe I've never listened to it. I mean, I know why, I was very into indie at the time of its release but after that I think I should have run into it but certainly didn't. What a shame. This takes heavily from Homework and YCALGB without being derivative. I think it should be a 4 but dammit, after all those dreadful records the algorithm has given me, it’s going off with a 5.
A great house album. Wish there was a bit more energy behind it (and maybe some more drums, but what else is new?), but it's a great album to put on while working.

A misleading name, more downtempo than destructive. An enjoyable listen, even though I slightly question whether this deserves to make the cut of this type of list. "Rikki" and ""Paris Four Hundred" stood out as my favourites. Probably a 2.5, but will round up after just listening to the "Doctor Pressure" mashup.
I very much enjoyed this album. It kept me groovin' through the workday, and it had a lot of interesting sounds.

Not a fan of a lot of the spoken word samples laid over the top of some tracks, but otherwise a really nice record. Lots of great synth sounds, basslines, production. From the good old days before popular electronic music got all samey.

This was a grower. I started off not really feeling it, but towards the end, either the songs got better or I got more into the zone. I especially liked the last three tracks. Still, not quite sure if it gets a 4 from me. 3.5.

This was pretty nice electronic dance music, it made for good study background noise. It did sound very dated to me. While it was pleasant to listen to, I wasn't particularly attached to it overall.

So far cruisy house kinda music? I'm not that with electronic genres (boom, it was!). Not awful, and it's pleasant enough for 4am easy listening, but it gets a bit long in the second half. 3/5.
