Fabulous

Probably one of the best albums ever recorded

Just what I needed

Still gorgeous, personal songwriting; Still beautifully played with rich buttery tones; Still wonderfully honest vocal performances; Still one of the crowning achievements of the late 60s/70s folk/singer-songwriter boom The only song that doesn't really do it for me is "Smackwater Jack." It's fine. Everything else is a gem. The first three songs are as good of an open to an album as you're going to get. Three classics right in a row including possibly the greatest breakup song ever.

Finally an artist and album I can give an unequivocal 5 to I’m old enough to remember all the songs that are hers that we always thought were originals to the artists that covered her expansive and evocative just look up all of her songs over the decades you will be surprised at all the artists that found her writing compelling from the Beatles to Aretha Franklin and all genres in between ✌️😎

Holy shit!

Young me would have dismissed this as MOR cheese but what did I know?

I grew up listening to this album. The broadway musical was really good too!!

This is my jam. Great basslines, vocals, and jazzy guitar licks. 5/5

This album makes me (M31) feel like a natural woman. Stand out tracks include “I Feel The Earth Move”, “So Far Away”, “It’s Too Late”, “You’ve Got A Friend”, “Where You Lead”, “Smackwater Jack”, and “Natural Woman”.

Makes you want to dance, sing along, and gives you all the feels

I'd like to give this 6 stars please

This was a perennial favorite of my parents growing up, so there's definitely some nostalgia associated with it. Also, it's basically all bangers.

Truly one of my favourite albums of all time. I remember hearing it’s too late for the first time a few years ago and hunting the album down to listen. From start to finish it’s an amazing album, great songwriting with great melody throughout. Love love love this album Standout songs: I feel the earth It’s too late You make me feel

Just delightful. Flawless execution and great songs.

Fun and touching, incredible voice. The world needs more singer songwriters these days

Superb album one of the all time great singer songwriters

Hearing this in full for the first time, there is quite literally no competition. This is a beautiful and perfect album in its entirety. Easy 5/5

Carole came to serve

A wondeful collection of songs about friendship and love. So easy to listen to. This is music with a very natural feel without autotune and other programs that cause an unnatural experience.

Wonderful Voice, Wonderful Album

Legend. So good.

Great opening few tracks. Hooked from the start. Tight vocal and instrument performances. Warm, Balanced mix, with great dynamic range. Some of the tracks had very prevalent “white” noise, which was particularly noticeable during pauses. Not sure if that high noise to signal was result of the tube compression releasing or what. I kind of liked it for the nostalgic feel, though it was maybe a little overly distracting. Also the speed of the vibrato organ on “Tapestry” felt too fast to me. Otherwise a fantastic album though.

really good album, got me bumpin and vibin and shi cute cat in the album cover too how can u hate it solid 4.6/5

This is why I do this. Finding a great album that I have overlooked for so long. Well put together music, of a kind of minimal style, it works so well.

Carole Baker is like a split between Joni Mitchell and Linda Ronstadt. Her singing reminds me a lot of Joni, but her music is inviting like Linda. I find Joni's music is good, but ya gotta be in the right headspace to enjoy it. This music of Carole's just makes ya get into a good mood. It's so easy listening. Favourite songs: I Feel The Earth Move, It's Too Late, Home Again, Smackwater Jack, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, So Far Away, Way Over Yonder Least favourite songs: if forced to pick, Will You Love Me Tomorrow? 5/5

Some fine blue-eyed Motown

Ein ruhiges und entspannendes Album. Habe es am ersten Abend fast dreimal gehört.

Classic album. Already have 8 (of 12) songs in my library

This is one of the records my mother would play when she made me take a nap as a child.

# Playlist track - I Feel the Earth Move # Notes - What an AMAZING listen. - Listened back-to-back like 4 times and didn't get tired of it.

Excellent, not one I will likely revisit, but a great listen.

Album # 28 The album that defined and morphed my teenage years. The only album that I actually held possession of it in 8 track, vinyl, cassette, CD and then whatever streaming, iPod, tune player I possessed within the digital age. Just sorry that I won't live long enough to get an implant of this album in my brain for instant access. It's too late.

Amazing artist

Still a great album!

I own the original vinyl. As good now as then.

What a genius!

Incredible album all the way through. Consistently excellent piano riffs and lyrics. I laughed, I cried, I questioned why I haven't spent more of my life listening to Tapestry. Carole king is a legend. 5/5

The absolute gold standard of singer-songwriter albums. It’s hard to review such a seminal album that went 14x platinum and inspired a generation of female musicians to find their voice. But mostly this album feels honest and real. You never doubt that King felt everything on this record. Her voice is unpolished but capable and sincere. Great piano work. Beautiful melodies and just the right amount of hooks. This was the work of a master songwriter.

Miss Carole did that!!! This is just a beautiful album with so many timeless classics. She slayed on that piano and made me feel all the feels. This album deserved all its flowers and then some!

Damn fine album

First heard her music thanks to Frank. Thoroughly loved this album

I must give a rating but will listen tomorrow. I have high hopes.

Beautiful album, with songs delivered in such a soft, almost mellow manner that grab you and demand attention and appreciation. 5 stars aren't enough. Love this

Pretty much flawless. Seems staggering that King was initially only a songwriter because she didn't sing. Considering even her own version of Natural Woman holds its own against Aretha Franklin, I'd say her voice is fantastic. Maybe not as powerful but she brings real intimacy and gravitas to the songs that we might consider "made famous" by others, performing in her own way. The piano playing is lovely too, and even in the more simple arrangements is more than enough to build beautiful songs. Overall this is just packed with great tracks, and no filler, you could play Tapestry endlessly. Plus it has a cat on the cover - who could dislike this?

What an awesome album from start to finish.

The bombest album

One of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time. It’s crazy how many big songs are on this album. It’s definitely very piano focused and there are a lot of slower songs, but there’s enough variation on the album—“I Feel the Earth Move,” “Smackwater Jack”— to keep it from feeling repetitive. Aretha’s version of “(You Make Me Feel) Like a Natural Woman” is probably the definitive performance, but King’s version is still good, and it’s a testament to her (and Gerry Goffin’s) songwriting that so many legends have performed it. This is one of the few albums that everyone in my family can agree on despite very different tastes in music. There’s just something about King’s voice, vulnerability, and sheer talent that crosses divides. 5/5

Very special album

I have made so many memories with this album throughout my whole life. I love every song. It is timeless.

ANOTHER WOMEN!! and a great one at that…carole king more like carole QUEEN

How have I not listened to Carole more? She’s an American treasure

Album 311 of 1001 Carole King - Tapestry Rating : 5 / 5 Favorite Tracks : I Feel the Earth Move / It's Too Late / You've Got a Friend Just a classic album. Can't deny the great collection of songs. Such a great songwriting talent that benefitted herself and other artists. Might not make its way to the top of my personal list but you can't argue its greatness.

A favorite.

Masterpiece!

Lovely

I was aware of her songwriting skills but did not listen to her own music until this album came out. I enjoyed it. Laura Nyro was my choice of female artist at that time.

Amazing. What a talent. Love her voice and piano playing. Made me think of a friend from college who listened to this album on repeat while on a road trip. Already had a few favorites on this album & found a few more!

Loved it!

Amazing album. Glad to listen to it again. Full of great tracks. “It’s too late” is an all time fave.

- GILMORE GIRLS!! - too many iconic songs on this one to be anything less than a 5

This has some beautiful lyrics and melodies

One of my all time favorites ❤️

One of the best albums I've ever heard!

Beautiful Album!!

Fantastic album. Not one I'm very familiar with, or so I thought. Turns out I know a load of the songs on here, all solid gold!

This album just gets too much love all the time. Ever since I was a kid, all I heard was Tapestry this, Tapestry that. It is so overhyped that I had it in my mind that I should hate it. But, listen to it. It is so easy to enjoy. So many great songs and her voice is really nice. Can't hate what is great. Standouts: So Far Away, It's Too Late, I Feel the Earth Move, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, You've Got a Friend, Natural Woman, Tapestry Others: Beautiful, Where You Lead, Rating: 5/5

Groovy classics

Solid album. Can hear some inspiration for Alanis Morissette in some songs

What an incredible talent. Timeless classics here. Covers that become her own. She was 29 when she put this out. Amazing.

Terrific and filled with classics

Some great singing with a variety of backing sounds ranging from orchestral to folk to funky grooviness. Highlights: "Will You Love Me Tomorrow"; "You've Got a Friend"; "Tapestry"... It's a bit reminiscent of Karen Dalton.

Carole's voice is amazing! This has always been a favorite album.

Carole King is a powerhouse of musical talent and busted free into her solo career with this '71 album. Heartfelt, beautiful vocals and composition

Now that’s more like it. This album came to me directly after I did a review of a bjork album and oh my is it just night and day. Where bjork was straining hard to be weird and artsy, King instead blesses us with earnest piano ballads and simple but thoroughly relatable lyrics of love and loss. I would consider King to be the female counterpart to Jim Croce actually. She just has a certain genuine warmth to her that makes her actually come off as a friend. I love it and I love this era of stripped down songwriting. Best Track: It’s Too Late

It had been a while since I had heard to this album, it’s so good. Ended up listening to it a couple of times today.

This is music that has heart and a soul. It's music that touches your soul. Just beautiful songwriting.

One of the best ever albums top to bottom. "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" is one of the best songs ever written.

What an incredible group of songs to have written

It's impossible to give an unbiased review of music that one loves from childhood. It's the kind of songwriting that sets the bar for the rest of your life and makes it hard for others to measure up.

Really incredible album. Banger after banger. It's rated as a pantheon-level album for a reason. Doesn't disappoint its sky-high expectations.

Beautiful album front to back. Loved this one, never have listened to Carol but I did recognize a lot of these songs. I have listened to the album 3 times since the first listen, going to have to grab it for my vinyl collection.

Classic; one of my favorites

You’ve got a Friend, me encanta

I wrote a bunch more here, but the browser deleted everything :( Honestly my favorite album so far. Finally, one that I would listen to outside of this project. Her vocals are just so good, and the instrumentals make me move a little. There's a lot of power in her lyrics too that oozes confidence and feels just good. Lovely album.

My earliest memories are of my mother cleaning, singing back up to this album.

An exceptional album that I could listen to over and over again.

Masterpiece.

Loved this album. I felt very loved and warm listening to Carole.

Masterpiece from start to finish, not one bad song! Didn't realize So Far Away was on this one or that Will You Love Me Tomorrow was a Carole King original!!! You've Got a Friend remains unmatched, love it so much. Bought the vinyl on the spot.

A classic.

love it, was surprised by how many songs I knew from this album.

My very first vinyl as a kid. A classic. Every single song is wonderful and perfect for the time it was released and still holds up today as a well produced masterpiece from someone in the beginning of her career.

Classic, timeless

A classic

In my collection. An amazing album..

In a nutshell: a national treasure. Carole's hits from Tapestry are still hot, the lesser known songs are warm and satisfying listening. Name me five people from the 60's or early 70's who wrote songs for other people then became a singer-songwriter with critical success? I can't name one. Carole King wrote 7 and co-wrote 4 of the 12 tracks on Tapestry, so it's not really a cover album. Performing and recording aforementioned songs yourself when they are already in the public conscience would be a risky business decision for a record label. But it succeeds because it has energy, charm and composition strength. Overall: 9/10

Full of emotion and brilliant singing. I didn't expect to recognise as many songs as I did on the album either which is a testament to Carol King being a massive influence on modern music

Already a fave

It was good

So many favorites! It was great to hear them from the original songwriter

Wonderful Album with some Songs i knew but did Not Connect to a specific artist

You've Got a Friend - what a song.

Amazing album reminds me of growing up listening to my sisters albums

Absolutely incredible. Fantastic songwriting, vocals, and instrumentalists including several legends. Not a dull moment.

I love this album

Lovely album!

Such a fantastic album, no notes

Beautiful voice, majestic lyrics, absolutely flawless.

It is such a good album. Every song is so sweet and beautiful. My favorites are Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow and So Far Away. Such a classic yet timeless album.

Carole got my foot tapping and my heart strings bending! I loved the ride and the ups and downs - especially how Smackwater Jack was such a nice pick me up after Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? Kind of a bleak pick me up, but still. I was bummed by how not great the title track was though.

Not a dull moment on this album. Incredible writing, singing, instrumentation, production, arrangements. My only complaint is that they closed this powerhouse of an album out with a cover instead of the title track. What’s that about? Just swap ‘em. Otherwise, no complaints. Love it more each time I listen. 5/5

I have to give this album 5 stars, simply due to how many amazing songs are on it. It's hard to believe so many would be on one album. "Tapestry" is also just a folk classic, and even though I may not regularly listen to it, the effects of it are in so much music I listen to.

Very good musicianship and songwriting, I didn't know how prolific a songwriter she was in general and it definitely tracks with the content on this album

Legendary.

Хороший и очень приятный альбом. Похоже на классический рок начала 70-ых, напоминает частично Fleetwood Mac, а также соул. Добротный альбом, классная вокалистка.

I'm pretty sure my mom had a copy of this record on vinyl, and I've seen it countless times in other places throughout my life, but this was my first time listening to Tapestry. Based on what I've heard about this album, I was really excited to listen to it. I'm pretty sure I'd heard some of the songs on this album before, but even the ones I hadn't heard sounded so accessible and familiar, and even the songs that I felt like I recognized sounded comfortably familiar as well. Carole King's voice is absolutely fantastic, and her talent for singing and songwriting was on full display on this album. The musical arrangements were great too; the piano playing, guitar playing, and other various string arrangements were beautiful, and wonderfully complimented Carole King's sound. The lyrics were poetic and yet softly powerful as well, and Carole King's singing delivered each line perfectly. This album was one continuously great piece of music, and even though it's not something that I'll gravitate back to, I recognize how incredibly well made it is, and its impact on popular culture continues to be tremendous, even over fifty years later. This album stands the test of time, and easily deserves to be on this list.

This was a really lovely album. I was home for Thanksgiving when this was given to me and when I put it on my mom and dad sang along to almost every song.

Fantastic every song is a strong as the next

Really liked these, always her singing with piano/guitar bit of drums Feels very folksy, but so catchy Genuinely didn’t expect to like this this much 4/5*****

Classic

many legendary songs here that will continue to stand the test of time. excellent songwriting, unusually good mixing, and a healthy dollop of nostalgia. 4.5/5

One of my favorites! Seriously not a bad song on this. It is a tour de force! She’s one of the greatest songwriters of all time and this is her singing her own songs. Beautiful album in writing, performance, production. It was really important to my mom, and many other women of her generation. Love you and miss you, Mom! 5/5

Great vocals

I mean, this album is hit after hit after it’s honestly insane. This is a special album with some really raw and powerful lyrics, beautiful melodies, and excellent piano. “Smackwater Jack” is probably my least favorite track, but that’s just the worst of the best as it’s still a catchy tune. “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” is my absolute favorite and really shines on this album. This record is a masterpiece through and through.

I expected to enjoy this based on what I'd heard of her. I didn't expect to recognise almost every single song she's inescapable and so so good

Once you realize that it all sounds familiar because SHE created this sound.

I know this album fairly well already, and it's just an absolute classic. Hit after hit, banger after banger. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? is one of my favourite songs of all time, if not the most meaningful to my little heart. So Far Away: wonderful. Where You Lead: immortalised in Stars Hollow (as is Carole King herself). A Natural Woman: resolute. Truly a wonderful album; my first five star rating on this.

Świetny ! Na deser you make me feel like a natural woman

One of the greatest singer-songwriter albums of all time. Maybe in my top five albums full stop. Funny, about the only track that isn't of five star quality itself is 'Tapestry'. Everything else is as close to perfection as possible.

They are killing it with albums this week! A terrific and rightly revered singer songwriter album from one of our best songwriters. A note on the album cover though: cute cat, but at least put some socks on!

Another album I’ve listened to many times, this was a no-brainer 5 stars.

My favorite album by one of my favorite songwriters. I love how great the songs are and how honest the performances are. One of the greatest albums of all time.

*yes - please bring me ALL the major 7th chords* It's not just that so many of these songs are such classics (at this point almost standards) - it's more than just "70s singer-songwriter" - I didn't notice until much later in life that there's a great band (session musicians) playing on this. While it sounds "dated" to be sure, it's a cool sound - the ultra-dry sound to Carole's vocals seems almost weirdly unattainable today. And with the full caveat that "yeah of course, it was 1971" there are no effects on her vocals - just very real and it makes you miss these authentic recordings. Also it's not always as mellow as it's made out to be - you can make "I Feel the Earth Move" into a credible live hard rock guitar jam... <....personal experience...> All-timer etc etc - TL; DR: worth the hype; just perfect songwriting. 10/10 5 stars.

Songwriting perfection.

Oooooh yes baby, what an album opening. Also, great album cover!

When i was real little as in 3 years old i heard her on the radio and fell in love

Absolutely amazing songwriting, and a great voice. Most of the songs were hits for me.

top song in that album is so fire, this isn’t the type of music i usually listen to but it’s something i can appreciate as really good music

I didn't realize how many classics were hers, including the Gilmore Girls theme song. Lots of emotions

Excellent. I feel the earth move.

EXCELENTE

It’s easy to hear why this album would define a whole generation. King blends genres like folk, pop and soul so well she makes it seem effortless.

Such a great rollicking folk album. Awesome for both active and passive listening!

Absolutely brilliant, a genius collection of great songs, superbly executed. So many classic songs, from You've got a friend, to Natural Woman, to It's too late. The last word in singer-songwriting

i thought it was good, i just hardly got through the whole thing. lyricism was fantastic so was the vibe it was just very repetitive 9.5/10

I dont think I’m coming off as biased because I’ve never heard of this artist before, but I feel like albums like this are why boomers say ‘they don’t make music like this anymore’. Hopefully and beautiful lyrics that inspire and uplift, beautiful musicality, it’s hard to think of albums in the modern era that compare to music from this era. Man, the 70s were an awesome time for music

Wow, what a jam packed album. I was thinking it could well be a greatest hits, or an album of selected covers, but no, it is just awash with iconic songwriting and hits galore. I think I'll be back to this again.

This is a near perfect album in terms of songwriting. Truly a great composer at the top of her game. Her voice never quite comes to the same heights but there is a vulnerability and emotion there that just works. And these two versions of Woman and Friend are beautiful reimaginings of songs that were already amazing.

Two bangers, but the rest not as good as I remember.

This is already in my music downloads on my phone, because it’s a classic

Piano. Bass. Vocals.

Brilliant album. Perfect

p227. 1971. 4.5 stars, THE template for every female singer-songwriter that came after. Half a point deducted for dated production, .but those songs still sound great 50 years on.

No arguments about this one, it's a solid 5.

She's so good!!!!! 10/10 who does like this album????

her voice and the instrumentals sound so pretty listened to it with my cat and i enjoyed it all the way through

All time great singer songwriter album, often emulated over the past 50 years.

Sehr gute Album, gute Komposition, tolle Stimme

completely

All time, stepping into the spot light from behind the curtain

Great soft rock compositions, amazing vocal performance, simple yet effective songwriting: that's what makes Tapestry so special. You could listen to this album 1000 times and you would still vibe with it. Not a single song skipped and it's sad Carole King has only one popular album. Best song: I Feel the Earth Move

Can I give it 6 stars?

There’s a warmness to the songs of Tapestry, which are all quality folk rock songs, specifically ballads. Carole King isn’t the best vocalist or instrumentalist but her songs are just so comforting and beautiful that’s it’s hard to really care about those details. Your so far away and You make me feel like a Natural woman are two of my favs. Tapestry is just perfection for a cold day in autumn.

Great album

Amazing: from the instant I clicked play on this album it just felt instantly recognisable and just enjoyable. Even though I have never listened to any of these tracks before it fucking slapped. Carole has a very comforting singing voice and it complimented the music perfectly. Just felt warm. Also there is a cat on the album cover.

This album was a masterpiece. Can’t believe I’ve never listened to it.

Last month I contrasted Tapestry against Laura Nyro’s atrocious Eli and the Thirteenth Confession, so it was nice to get a quick turnaround there. Carole King does not disappoint on this one. From the very first seconds of “I Feel the Earth Move,” King’s piano dominates the album without overwhelming the listener, much the same way Dylan’s harmonica does. There’s no wonder why “It’s Too Late” is her most popular song, with its funky guitar and easy swaying rhythm. I’m not sure there’s any connection, but she does talk about a coat of many colors in the title track, and this album came out the same year as Dolly’s Coat of Many Colors. She does a fantastic job covering Frankie Valli’s “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” and then Aretha’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” to wrap up the record. It seems like James Taylor is sometimes credited with “You’ve Got A Friend,” but he just doesn’t pull it off like King does. As random as it may seem, the song reminds me of her performance at her 2021 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Maybe I’m missing something, but I’m not sure how it took until 50 years after this masterpiece for her to receive the honor. I’d never listened to Tapestry all the way through, and from the hits to the deep tracks, it’s one of the most complete albums of 1971. I’ll definitely be listening again.

Another excellent singer-songwriter album. Quite a few bangers on here including I Fell The Earth Move, Home Again, and You've Got A Friend. Had no idea she wrote A Natural Woman, and though her version doesn't hold a candle to Ms. Franklin's, she does a serviceable job.

A masterpiece

Gives me the Gilmore Girls vibe. LOVE IT. Glad I discovered it 🤩

Never heard of her before :) Nice to learn about this highly successful singer/songwriter and a great influence in pop music from 1970s to now. Lovely voice combined with nice melodies. Highlights for me: It's Too Late, You've Got a Friend

So many songs on this album have stood the test of time and are classics today. Carole King is an excellent singer-songwriter who had such a large influence on the genre!

Great album

A classic singer songwriter album. I didn't want it to end.

Favourite tracks: I feel the earth move; so far away; it's too late; way over yonder; where you lead; you've got a friend; Wil you love me tomorrow?; Smackwater jack; you make me feel (natural woman)

This supernova of an album - Jesus, it’s like a greatest hits album, it’s so good. If you’ve got zero interest in 70s easy listening, then this album is STILL likely a good album for you because Carole King wrote hits that got re-recorded by so many different people. This album is a true gem.

Classic Album and almost every track a classic itself. Great to hear it again.

what can I say, this is one of my favorite albums of all time. foundational. this was an album i fell in love with in college when i was feeling particularly sad and lonely and it really hit the spot. nowadays, i find a lot of comfort in this album. it's been through the bad and good times with me. this album was also one of my gateways to joni, laura nyro, james taylor, and by extension, gordon lightfoot, jim croce, and 70s singer-songwriters as a whole, one of my musical happy places. plus, is there a better 3 track run to open an album? bonus points for cat. favorite songs: the whole thing

This is the album every 15 year old girl had in 1971. Vocally, musically, lyrically...all masterful. And who doesn't like an album with a cat in the cover?

Queen Carole

Classic. Absolute classic. Been spinning this for a long time and will continue to do so. Flawless album from a fantastic musician.

Fantastic!!

So good.

It just sounds classic

Freaking Tapestry. Tell me you don’t need these songs. Tell me they don’t bring at least one tear to your eye. I don’t believe you. 5/5

The songs on Tapestry aren’t just beautiful pop records - with damn near every track, King could just have created the sequel to the Great American Songbook. There is immense pleasure here from songs which will endure and find their place in the history of pop music. Absurd talent and a perfect 70s singer songwriter album, beautifully produced.

I Feel the Earth Move, So Far Away, Beautiful, Way Over Yonder, You’ve Got a Friend, Where You Lead, Will You Love Me Tomorrow? 4-4.5/5

Typically I only give 5 stars if there are no songs I don't like. This is an exception. There are so many fantastic songs on here that I can let Smackwater Jack slide. Incredible album.

5 obvio!

Naikkos.. heh 5.... noh... king... not queen.. miekkos siis.. heh.. miekkonen..

5.0 + When songs are this good you do well to let them speak for themselves. And that’s exactly what this record does. A classic through and through.

A surprising gem, enjoyed every song.

Every song blended together after the 1st (in a good way)

Unbelievable songwriter.

Sjukt bra!

This immediately gets points simply for having a cat on the cover. Having listened to this, there is no reason at all to deduct points from the cat. D'aww, pushcat.

El del gato. 10 de 10

Great record

1971, that was it, man. The best 500 albums EVER are from 1971, and this is certainly near the top of that list.

Well then, what an album. I had heard of it, and when listening knew a lot of the songs on it too. Lovely simple music, letting her voice be the focus. It's Too Late, Home Again, Where You Lead... All so pleasant and listenable. Thanks Carole.

Soft-pop classic by an author of numerous hit singles in the 60s. Top tracks: „I feel the Earth move”, „It’s too late”, „You’ve got a friend”.

Started Listening at 5:43PM on May 14, 2023. First song so far is decent. Listened to full album, pretty good. 5 stars

Loved it.

Tapestry is one of the greatest albums of the 70s. Carole King’s songwriting is vulnerable, intimate, and just really damn good. The music itself is expansive yet full, and feels well trod and warmly familiar. Though I’ve heard much of this album before, I had never heard it all together. The hype is well deserved.

Terrific album that just sounds so relaxing and inviting. I love the use of subtle jazzy piano chords to color the sound.

This was an incredibly beautiful album. I loved the simplicity of each song's instrumentals, like they were purposely not trying to overshadow the vocals and the lyrics. Every song had something special to it

Almost every song is familiar

Carole King's 'Tapestry,' the vinyl so nice I own it thrice (two were from my parents' collection, but still). What is there to really say besides this album is a masterpiece? It's a fun and worthy listen everytime it's on. Hard to keep a sour mood when King's singing. She has this effortless and airy quality to her vocals and instrumentals, it feels like I'm flying in the clouds. Tha album just feels kind. Asking you to be kind to yourself and the world. You don't get that feeling from music very often. It's a warm hug.

Nobody does it better

The run of classics continues. There is nothing I can say that hasn't been said already. The only negative is an 11-year-old Jay had to listen to his siter play I Feel the Earth Move over and over again on the piano. Everything works. Listen to the way the backing musicians, effectively the SoCal 70s version of The Wrecking Crew, effortlessly kill it.

This is one of the greatest singer-songwriter albums ever made. Personally, I don't think there is a bad song on this one. By now, it has influenced 2 more generations of talent.

A gorgeous album by one of America's best songwriters. Bubbe may have told her she wasn't very good when they worked on songs together in high school, but boy was she wrong. All the songs here are great and this is in the top 50 albums of all time for me. I think Carole King's version of "will you still love me tomorrow" is the better version.

One of my favorites

Loved this one. I already knew and loved the fantastic I Feel The Earth Move and You've Got A Friend but never got around to checking out more by Carole King. Seems like I've been missing out. What makes this album is special is not just the good songs and great voice of King, but also the fantastic instrumental accompaniment which is of a quality seldom heard on singer-songwriter records.

This is great, but there are so many covers. Wait, they aren't covers? She's the original song writer? Holy smokes this might be a 5

So good!

So many great songs. An amazing album start to finish.

One of the great singer songwriters at the peak of their game. I have a listened to some of these songs more often than I can count.

I have listened to this album so much in my life, it’s one of my favourites

I look at this album and always amazed all the songs that are so well-known on it. Songs that my wife loves so much. For the most part, I love them too. King's interpretations of songs that we would come to know with other great songwriters and singers (James Taylor, Aretha Franklin) seem stark but fitting. I do find her version of "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?" to drag inexorably. But I understood her point in slowing it down like she did. It's a very stark album, and I find it interesting that Spotify now brings me to an album I had already heard: Nick Drake. Really, I didn't think it could give me anything that could follow this album.

This is a pretty amazing album. I wouldn't call myself a folk fan, but when done right it's pretty damn good. And Carole King did it probably as good as anyone could on this album. Great songwriting - deep, personal, intimate lyrics coupled with the right tone on piano and backing instruments. So many classics on this album - I Feel the Earth Move, So Far Away, It's Too Late, You've Got a Friend, Will You Love Me Tomorrow?, A Natural Woman. I realize she let other artists record the last three too, but her versions are just as good as the other versions, in part because she brings her unique style to it. My one gripe is her inclusion of Smackwater Jack on the album. It's a fun tune, but it totally misses the personal vibe on this album. She should've saved it for another album. I'm not going to let that drag down my rating though.

This in an album that I should have listened to long ago. I used to get annoyed when browsing for king crimson CDs at the record store and finding her Tapestry CD there but no KC. That was long time ago. Listening to this, I was surprised that I knew at least half of the album already. There's a hint of folk here with more easy listening and a little soft-rock. She could have given Joni a run for her money if she kept her songwriting up to this caliber but unfortunately this was her high point.

5 stars. Had heard a lit of these but as cover versions.

One of the best! Every song is great, but shout out to So Far Away, Home Again, and Will You Love Me Tomorrow?

What a gem of an album. As a kid I thought I didn’t like Carole King, I couldn’t relate to her music. Now as an adult I wish I couldn’t relate to it but I love it.

Well this may be the most pleasant surprise I've had during this whole 1001 album experience. What a goddamn gem of an album, I listened to it 3 times during the day. Standing ovation. Fav Tracks: So Far Away, Will you Love me Tomorrow and It's Too Late

This was a great album. Not a bad song.

I Feel the Earth Move, It's Too Late,Way Over Yonder, You've Got a Friend, Where You Lead,Will You Love Me Tomorrow? Will You Love Me Tomorrow?

Amazing

Easy 5 !

Whenever I listen to this album, my mind always wanders to thinking about the cover's cat and what it's up to these days. But that's mostly because song after song, this album hits with one surprise after the other: on paper, the music here is made of dead simple raw ingredients, how come each of these songs packs so much depth? Lyrics go a long way, as well as King's vocals, but the rest is just magic. This is an album of anthems.

As close to perfect as an album can get. The songwriting is outstanding, the music is timeless, and King’s singing is just the right balance of emotional honesty that makes her versions of her own songs sound better than the various covers that may have charted higher over the years. It’s also extremely rare that an album yields this many classic songs that also managed to be classic songs for other artists. The influence of this album is immense and it has such a clean sound that it barely sounds aged. Truly one of the all time best.

Great from beginning to end. Just a collection of really pop songs and ballads.

Many songs I’ve heard and sung along to before. Surprised to find they were from the same time period, same artist, and same album. Thx Carole King :)

Solid album. Love the cat on the cover!! Lots of stuff I've heard before and didn't realise they were covers of Carole's stuff! Saved tracks: I Feel the Earth Move, Wil You Love Me Tomorrow?, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman

An absolute classic of an album - there's one track I don't really like (Smackwater Jack) but the rest are all brilliant.

This is one of the LPs from a small stack inherited from my folks after they had moved on from listening to music on vinyl. The songs from Tapestry are as familiar to me as the home of my childhood, and Carole King's voice is like warm chicken soup on a brisk autumn afternoon. Maybe because I used to spin the seven inch of her song "Chicken Soup With Rice" on repeat well into adolescence. This is a stone cold classic from of the greatest American songwriters of the twentieth century.

Stellar songwriting and her voice captures the folky, bluesy feel of her music so perfectly! This is another that hits the nostalgia feels too, with Carole King being another favorite of my mom's and I remember often listening to this album as a child.

This was a fantastic album. I've heard a few Carole King songs but never a full album straight through. What a great experience.

Im biased towards this because Carole King is my mom’s all time favorite artist. BUT. She’s a brilliant songwriter. I love her deeper voice. And she is responsible for writing so many songs that have made people famous. An absolute legend in music and this album is full of excellence.

This album starts hot

Magnificent. A masterpiece. Not sure how I have never listened to this album before.

Need to listen to this one more often.

Beautiful.

Just a soundtrack to some life events … can’t separate the music from from the moments

As one of the greatest pop albums of the 70s, King incorporates jazz and blues in a soft folk-rock approach to create interesting melodies full of lush instrumentation and tools (like back vocals) to maximize the power of her tracks. With heartfelt lyrics and intricate melodies, you're fully immersed in her music. It's incredibly well-polished, especially important with all the instruments. It's also pretty coherent, with tracks leading smoothly to the next. She starts off with her 3 strongest and most complex tracks. "I Feel the Earth Move" is a perfect opener, catchy and fun to dance to, you already get a taste of her lyrical and vocal power to draw in audiences. These tracks are incredibly lush with sax, guitar, and synth solos to pull in all sorts of audiences. We have some amazing covers "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and "You've Got a Friend" that are just as amazingly produced despite not having the punch of the originals. There are several tracks I didn't care for much, usually the lighter piano ballads. But just like with Adele's work, I can admit they're all fantastic and certainly much better than what nearly all of her contemporaries were pulling out. I can find strengths in all of them. For example, "Way Over Yonder" has some of my favorite vocals with a nice underlying jazzy melody. Favorites: I Feel the Earth Move, So Far Away, It's Too Late, Beautiful, Tapestry, A Natural Woman

I had to consider it for a bit but this is definitely a 5. Such a charming and comforting album and King has a beatiful voice. Consistent throughout with a sound that really went on to define the soft rock / folk pop genre and make large waves in the mainstream. I love the tracks I Feel The Earth Move and Its Too Late but I have to admit I favour the James Taylor version of You've Got A Friend a little bit more.

reallyyyy good. a seminal album, classic really! 10 all around

It’s just really really good 5/5.

The amount of hits on this album is pretty stunning. How can it get anything besides 5 stars on that alone? Favorite track: I Feel the Earth Move

Fun, light oldie-ish

muito bom, voz e som agradáveis

It's pretty remarkable how these intimate, and for the lack of a better word, simple songs had such a massive effect on music. I guess the earnestness of the lyrics, coupled with the heart and power that Carole King sings with, lifted these up to a level that not many other artists would have been able to reach. It's a wonderful album, and one worth going back to every so often. My favorite track is It's Too Late, and I loved her take on (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.

Absolutely talent!

Great album. The best word to describe it would be "real". You know? Anyway, every single track is a top 10 and the theme is difficult to define but is definitely present. 5/5

Epic goodness. 5 stars.

I've heard this...I don't know how many times. Her songwriting is absolutely fantastic. She is a treasure! I could sing most of the songs, the rest were so familiar. One of the most consistent albums sonically and yet it is full of creativity.

Wasn't expecting to like this, however I knew the first three songs off by heart and the rest of it was so strong. 4.5

wonderful voice, reminds me of my childhood

This is so good. I need it on vinyl

Love this album!

Anyone who has an album with so many back-to-back bangerz automatically gets 5 stars. I don’t make the rules.

21st October 2022 Listened throughout the day while working from home. Chilled evening played uno and watched LOTR. This album is incredible. It’s beautifully sung, artfully arranged and stuffed full of feeling. Carole King is glorious.

Master piece

I do understand that this is all subjective and there’s no “right” or “wrong” options here… but… How is anyone not giving this 5 stars? It’s just a beautiful album. Timeless, across genres, who doesn’t love this?

This album is brimming with classic, iconic songs. Wonderful songwriting and Carole King’s voice is gentle yet emotional.

First time listening to this record and recognise so many of the songs, clearly a classic Iv never heard given the amount of covers of these great songs. A masterpiece

Phenomenal from start to finish. Warm, passionate... this is one of the records i remember from my childhood that my parents would listen to. Listening again, i'm surprised how many track i think are great... probably at least 7.

All of this is beautiful, such a voice. But I was surprised by the more up-beat, faster Smackwater Jack. Reminded me of Jim Croce's energy.

This album is full of classics you're bound to know. They are probably songs you do t even associate with Carol King. A true legend and an album worthy of this list

This slapped so hard

An incredible album, a true classic, every song is amazing really

Every track shines in its own special way. This album is Carole King’s whole soul laid bare. She tapped into a rich vein of creativity that spewed solid gold. One of the greatest albums ever written. Period.

I’m a huge fan of pilsners. Clean, crisp, and drinkable. They are usually simple beers flavor wise and not full of gimmicks or weird ingredients. Good ones are known not for their wow factor but more for their lack of errors. It’s hard to hide mistakes and off flavors in lagers. This album is a Pilsner. I can’t say it wowed me, but it was great highly drinkable music without any misses

Classic

Beautiful and so easily recognized. Might as well be a greatest hits album.

Great album. I had no idea all this great music came from one artist.

I saw the album art and though, “Who is that? I’ve never even heard of this one.” I then looked at the track list, and it turns out I do know some of the songs after all… I just might be more familiar with covers by other artists. Songs I already know: It’s Too Late, You’ve Got A Friend, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman Favourite after listening: Beautiful, You’ve Got A Friend Overall: 10/10 I went in expecting not to like this. Listened to the first couple of songs and thought it’s just not my taste. But I kept going back through the day and started loving every song. I needed to pause it at one point because I almost started weeping openly in public while listening to You’ve Got A Friend. This album is a grower, not a shower. I’ll definitely be saving this album and listening to it again.

From first note to last, this album is indeed a tapestry of exquisitely crafted songs that flow along like the tide. Carole King had already proved her bonafides as a songwriter with ex Gerry Goffin, but here she demonstrates that she’s more than capable on her own.

很好听!专辑封面也很好看,整个声音很平衡,伴奏恰到好处,不会抢人声的风头。这是一张会让人一直听下去的专辑,可能这就是经典吧。

So many amazing songs on here. The voice, the production, the music is all just perfect.

Really strong album.

I'm a sucker for this 70s Laurel Canyon sound. So warm, so smooth. Only lowpoint for me is the title track. Also, 'Way Over Yonder' seems reductive. Even so. Great stuff.

A perfect blissful album. A friend described it as all hits, no filler. Essential listening really

Just great. CK's voice is not great but what a singer – such poise and balance and credibiltiy in the delivery. The little-girl songs ("Will You Still Love Me Tomrrow") become true adult experiences, with rich ethical and timeless resoances . No cliche to call her the voice of a generation (and it might be two). A masterpiece that sounds like easy listening but is rich with bittersweetness. One has a little more faith – a little – in popular tastes given that this was such a major seller.

Its Too Late é famosa. Way over yonder é linda. You've Got a Friend <3 . Tapestry parece ser uma referência. You make me feel é famosa.

Masterpiece of a singer-songwriter album. Don't think Carole knows the definition of a "skip". Every track is layered with unique, beautiful arrangements that fit he storytelling. Way Over Yonder is a great song that is hidden behind the numerous timeless hits on this record.

Beautiful album.

A songwriting powerhouse who was well ahead of her time. There is a consistency on this album which delivers top class song craft on nearly every track. The undeniable highlight for me is “It’s Too Late”, with its anguished chorus and gorgeous instrumentation.

Because of the way it's printed on the cover, as a kid I thought the singer's name was "Carole King Tapestry." And in fact, you didn't often hear the name "Carole King" without it being followed by "Tapestry." In any case, this album is what fives are for. Perfect.
